Definitely not retired! I truly never meant to go this long without publishing a fic - last year was just a very weird, unbelievably difficult blur for me, the hiatus just happened and to be honest, I regret it every day.

But! Although my posting stopped, I never really stopped writing (I think my longest streak of not so much as opening a doc was about 3 months.) I've been writing much more infrequently than I'd like and with much more effort and hesitance than I'm used to (turns out going from practicing a skill every day for years to just... not doesn't do much for that skill or one's confidence 😬) but I have still been writing! Unfortunately, finishing stories hasn't been my strong suit recently and that's primarily why I haven't posted in so long. And why my WIP folder has been this stacked for the past year lol:

Some docs are just a few paragraphs long while some only need a few paragraphs to be done. I'm kind of at this weird crossroads right now where I definitely want to finish some of these fics (why let all that effort go to waste) but also I want to jump on ideas that are newer and have less baggage in my brain (it's been extremely frustrating trying to get back to where I was!). So I'm trying to navigate that while also trying to get back into the writing mindset and routine again, learning to trust my instincts again, find a way for my brain to be a comfy and fun place to hang out in again. I am determined to get there, and sooner than later this time. I feel closer than ever! And when I do, Tumblr will be the first to know. Promise. 💙

-the one where arashi tries to glomp izumi but izumi moves and she ends up eating shit on the stairs

-the hiyojun trap for you kiss (the choreo was different in the stage version)

-the one where ryuseitai do their cheer and then chiaki sees a fish on the floor and he and kanata skip offstage giggling and holding hands while shinobu tetora and midori stare after them in confusion

-the one where shu does a KAKAKAKAKA and he and mika go offstage before mika sprints back onstage to return kuro’s bag

-the one where ritsu fell asleep in the audience and izumi started reciting his phone number to wake him up

-the one where leo shuffles onstage, does a finger gun to the head, and naruto runs offstage

-the one where nazuna and eichi are having some sort of important conversation and shu shows up 30 seconds late to gesture dramatically while mika spends the whole time copying all of shu’s dramatic gestures right next to him (except for when wataru decides to chase him around the stage for funsies) and the rest of rabits and akatsuki just stand onstage clearly unsure of what they’re doing there

terribly sorry for progressively getting more and more annoyed and tired with jn. this show kinda gets a lot more exhausting on a rewatch when you know its not going to get better

#i think what happened when it was airing was that like. it was the direct successor to sun and moon right? #and that was a show EVERYONE shat on when it got revealed. the setting the art change the shift to a goofier style etc etc #but then it aired and aside from some hiccups while adjusting the first few eps- sm turned out to be a joy of a show #not just for a casual watch- you can tune on most episodes without context and just have a pleasant time bc its a cozy show #but also if youre more into the battle scene bc this series kinda goes hard on them #and while the episodes had a goofier tone to them the episodes never felt like they were talking down to its audience #everyone brings up the deaths and how maturely they were handled but seriously- they didnt need to go that hard on the minior episode #and yet- it took fans a long time to really come around to it and stop giving it bad faith criticism #the most popular youtubers were finding every excuse to shit on it and mock the fans #so i think when jn was announced with another slight art shift and a different format- i think we all got a little defensive over it #like hey sm had hiccups too! jn just needs some time to grow into itself and find its footing #and we had no reason to think it wouldn’t. like there were some red flags like how mimey was handled and some clickbait episodes #but we got genuinely nice episodes back then too! the scorbunny eps were neat and ash and gohs intro eps are great #the pichu opening is REALLY strong and i thought it showed a ton of promise for the show #the leon and eternatus stuff was being set up #so i waited for jn to pick up and waved off a lot of criticism as bad faith bc hey. ppl were ruthless to sm and forgetting that we do have t #to work with the limit that its a childrens series. which is fine. #but well…… suddenly we’re in the final arc and its not better. its worse. holy shit did it get worse #episodes like the drizzile one were now the exception. not the rule. #most episodes that are pleasant on a first watch became an absolute slog on a rewatch #the ‘’fanservice’’ feels more like a marketing ploy than an attempt to respect the characters. the production value was a goddamn mess. #entire arcs went unresolved #so it gave me rose tinted glasses until it all fell apart at once for me at the end #but now i have the joyful experience of watching the whole thing through knowing damn good and well it gets worse. yay #echoed voice #jn lb

This is such a great question because I love music so much.

I hadn't heard this song before, I just listened to it and I definitely see what you mean, that's a good song.

I have several playlists for them and my writing, for the most part whenever I hear a song I find one way or another to tie it back to the enforcers, so I have a playlist for songs that have inspired some scenes, a playlist for songs that make me think of Finn and Valmont’s messy relationship (it's not even a headcanon to me anymore, they are bitter exes) and then character mixtapes for Finn, Chow and Ratso, songs I think they'd listen to.

Most songs I listen to apply to a scene or relationship dynamic, but as for character specific songs I think "Gilded Lilies - Sped Up" by Cults, "PINCH ME" by young friend, and "All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers are Finn's SONGS. They belong to him. (All These Things That I've Done makes me cry thinking about him)

Marina belongs to Chow, every song from the Family Jewels album hits so hard for him. "Oh No!" "Are You Satisfied?" "Hermit the Frog" "Seventeen" and "The Family Jewels" all hit so goddamn hard for him and his complicated relationship with his family.

Ratso I have a harder time locking down his emotions because he's the most emotionally stable of any of them and he's got a good family so less opportunities for angst but "Family Lines" by Conan Gray hits so hard on the absent father beat. "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback and "Show Me How To Live" by Audioslave are my go-tos for him

Valmont I still do not know what music this man listens to, if he listens to music at all. He could be one of those people that only listen to audio books (the horror) any songs for him are applied to his relationship with Finn, for which I have "K." by Cigarettes After Sex, "Habits" by Genevieve Stokes, "Step On Me" by The Cardigans, "This Night Has Opened My Eyes" by The Smiths, "using you" by Mars Argo, "Christmas Kids" by Roar, and many others. Cigarettes After Sex has a very gentle vibe that meshes well with the quiet moments V and Finn share on occasion.

Its hard to explain how each song is relevant because they are each important to different parts or dynamics in my fic, my writing is very heavily inspired by and swayed by music, so when I hear a new song it unlocks a new part of the story I hadn't known what to do with yet, discovering new music is an active part of my creative process because of that.

I'll link my playlists below just be aware my writing playlist is a jumbled mess of songs that have inspired at some point or another, whether they are all still relevant is up for debate.

I also have a playlist on my Spotify account for my fic but I'm not going to link it here because it doesn't become relevant until far into my fic (its strange to talk about this fic when I haven't posted any of it yet but I SWEAR I am working on it all the time 😭)
