9 People I Want To Know Better
As a relatively newbie here, I’m honored to be tagged! Thanks @beardedbookdragon. I’ve never done one of these before so I hope I’m doing it right 🙂
Last Song: I last listened to the Journey video game soundtrack during lunch today. Love the game and the entire album is calming
Last Show: Thor Love and Thunder. It was an expensive nap. Slept through 75% of it. Not my favorite lol
Currently Watching: If YouTube counts, I’ve been going through BookTuber, Daniel Greene’s videos recently
Currently Reading: In Such Good Company by Carol Burnett. My family was just talking about her so I picked up her book to learn more of her.
I’m tagging: I’m still really new here and don’t even have 9 tumblr friends yet lol, so I hope it’s not offensive to tag some people who don’t follow me

The Grants thought the worst that could happen to them was losing their loved ones on the same day (leaving them to care for an infant that was left behind) until they are forced to face the ugly truth about what led to their deaths.
Jordan and Morgan find themselves in the wrong relationship with the wrong people. It is too late to charge partners but is it? Being a teenager, Clara is impossible to talk to. She makes it hard for her mother, Morgan to talk to her and explain things. Their relationship is on edge. Morgan is worried about her and the boy she is fond of, Miller Adams. The day she left her father's funeral, Morgan finds her with Miller on drugs. The more she stays with Miller, the more rebellious she becomes. Morgan starts to wonder if she has failed as a parent.
The book cover is so amazing so is the book. I love it. I finished this within 2 days. When I started, I was trying to figure out why the book was titled Regretting You until I got to the latter part.
I recommend this book for romance and fiction lovers. And to those who feel that there is no hope for love, let me tell you that there is someone out there waiting to meet you.

@coffeebooksorme & @the-forest-library, thank you so much for tagging me, lovelies! <3
Title and author: Laughter at the Academy by Seanan McGuire
Total pages: 376
Page you’re on: 72%
Thoughts so far: I love Seanan McGuire, so there was never a chance I wasn't going to like this. A lot of the stories remind me of her other work (portal fantasy, murder mermaids, epidemics, ghostly hitchhikers), and some of them are definitely grim enough to be published under Mira Grant.
I never knew I needed a story about lesbian ghost hitchhikers in my life ("Driving Jenny Home"), but I totally did. Lots of weeping in that one and "Homecoming" (because I pretend I am tough, but I’m a big ‘ol softie.) I really liked the Little Shop of Horrors/Day of the Triffids mashup as well ("Lady Antheia's Guide to Horticultural Warfare"). Drag ‘em, Theia. Or, you know, eat them. Lady’s choice.
Try your best to guess how it will end: It’s overall a solid collection, and I’m expecting to find at least one more favorite in it. "Please Accept My Most Profound Apologies for What Is About to Happen (But You Started It)" is a promising title. 😂
Tell us how you really feel—with a gif!

How much do you love SJM? Who's the best character in ACOTAR? -- coffeebooksorme
Meh 2/10, she’s ok if you like women characters supporting other women characters and finding their strength.
Characters - definitely the best one is Eris because he has ~layers~ and is just misunderstood.

The Reader by Traci Chee
Tumblr media
Rating: 5/5
Review below the cut for post brevity
So, I knew this book was going to be good before I read it. I'd had it recommended to me more than once (mini-shoutout to @coffeebooksorme specifically for recommending it). The cover virtually promises it's going to a solid read. The premise is gripping: this is the story of a girl who owns a book in a world where reading doesn’t exist. I was so confident that it’d be a great read I selected it for my May SFF book club without even reading it in advance.
Let me tell you, The Reader exceeded these expectations.
This book has it all: pirates and magic, assassins and romance, prophesies and harsh reality. I don't think I've read anything quite like it before, but I'm absolutely hooked. The descriptions are amazing. The pacing is perfect. The characters are phenomenal, well-rounded, and fantastic.
What I really loved, though, was how this book tackles so many things without getting preachy. It has so much to say about violence, about idealism, about acting for the greater good vs acting for one's own good. It questions what it's like even when you're acting as someone else's voice--or when you don't have a voice of your own.
I absolutely loved it. 5/5. This is a must-read.

IDK What Book Tag
@coffeebooksorme, thanks for tagging me, sweetface!
Since nobody seems to know what this tag is about, I'm choosing a character I like from the last book I finished (but feel free to re-interpret however you want!).
Title: Every Heart A Doorway Author: Seanan McGuire Genre: Fantasy? Horror? YA? I'm really not good at this. Character: Jack Addams (Is that really their last name, or just a joke about them being creepy?) Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw Why? (bullets or paragraphs) Jack identifies as a scientist, and other than her sister, it seems like that's the only thing that matters to her. She's the smartest of everyone at Eleanor West’s Home for Wayward Children, and she's able to separate her emotions cleanly from her intellect.  While Jack cares more about scientific knowledge than just about anything, she seems to value it in and of itself rather than as a means to fame. If anything, her intelligence is a detriment to her popularity at the school. Which, in my opinion, makes her emphatically not a Slytherin, although she is certainly cunning enough. What do you love most about this character and/or book? I loved everything about this book, from its characters and its creepiness to its Alice in Wonderland-like premise. I like Jack in particular because she has a unique, no-nonsense voice that privileges intelligence and straightforwardness over sentiment or sugar-coating. She speaks like an adult, but she makes the mistakes of a teenager.

I really, really want to recommend the tv show NOS4A2 which is based on the novel of the same name by Joe Hill. I haven't read the book yet (the husband is hogging the copy and tbh I wanna read it in October for my spooky reads) BUT THE TV SHOW IS FLIPPING AMAZING! Zachary Quinto is deliciously creepy and the whole show is just freaking amazeballs! ~~coffeebooksorme
I started watching that!! I love the creepy vibes and I want to read the book too but I should read my library books first! I like saving creepy books for October too but... I have So Many that I need to read them beyond October.
Also did you notice that one of the characters is played by the women whose makeup video went viral last year (if the men find out we can shapeshift they’ll tell the church! Or something like that) I love her so much.
