I CANNOT for the life of me get back into Children of the Fallen Gods. I plowed through Book 1, and now I find myself at a standstill. Maybe because it’s so entrenched in war? So over-the-top dramatic? Maybe I need to read something else romantic? Another fantasy that’s a bit lighter??? UGH I just don’t know. It’s pissing me off, though.

Is there really no fandom whatsoever for Carissa Broadbent on here?
Why?
I mean, there is, but there are about three of us total.

I just finished The War of Lost Hearts series by Carissa Broadbent and I loved it. It was such a magnificent series and I feel that if you really enjoy the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas then you should give this series a try. Its only a trilogy so it's not as much as a commitment but it has sort of a similar vibe. I would definitely recommend this series (plus it's a completed trilogy so you don't have to wait for any sequels to come out).

Author: I'm going to give you an epic fantasy with a ton of gray areas and nuance.
Me: Great!
Author: I'm going to make you understand both sides of this war.
Me: As is how reality tends to go. Sounds good.
Author: I'm going to give you two heart-wrenching romances and extremely deep characterization that's going to make you fall completely in love with people on different sides of the war.
Me [getting nervous]: Wait...
Author: And they're going to be trying to kill each other.
Me: WAIT NO
