By the time the train arrived at their station both Barty and Evan had dozed off. Arms wrapping around each other, bodies curled into one another like a jigsaw puzzle. Evan didn’t wake up as gently as he fell asleep though because he was woken by Regulus kicking his seat aggressively. Once he finally opened his eyes he turned to face him. He was wearing his headphones, big and black originally but covered in splodges of spray paint from when Barty had offered to ‘customise‘ them for Regulus. He’d pushed them back though, now that the majority of people has filtered out of the little compartment.

“Hurry up and get your stuff.”

Regulus ordered before following Pandora and Dorcas who had already left.

Evan turned and tapped Barty gently to wake him up. Then when that didn’t work he shook him till he opened his eyes with a start.

It took Barty a moment to realise where he was but even once he did he just grumbled.

“Ev don’t make me get up, please.”

He pouted, eyes wide and dilated in some kind of cheap attempt at cuteness.

“Come on you know you have to get up baby- Barty!”

Evan gaped, realising his mistake just too late. A slip of the tongue and he’d gone and fucked everything up.

“D’you just call me baby?”

A grin spread on Barty’s face and he poked Evan gently and laughed.

“You’ve been single too long Rosier.”

“You- you’re not mad?”

“Why would I be mad, baby?”

Barty winked, clicking his tongue as he got up and shuffled past Evan with a wicked smirk.

Barty was going insane.

Evan had called him baby. Baby. And fuck his reaction had been visceral. But like…in a good way? It made him want to bite down on something hard but that thing was the muscles on Evan’s arms. Or bruise something but that thing was Evan’s neck…with a hickey or two.

Something about the way it had slipped out so naturally, so warmly. It just made Barty’s heart flutter. Made him want to grab Evan and shake the sense out of him enough to like Barty. Something along the lines of ‘kiss me, ruin me, dear God I’m begging you.’ Ah well, nothing you can’t really do about these kinds of situations except get on with it. Lying was something Barty had gotten very good at from a young age and not stopped since. Some might call it acting but those were the types of people who were just trying to convince themselves they were good and moral. Barty didn’t really care enough about that kind of stuff to bother. White lies this and how it contrasts with malicious lies that, like someone trying to section off a gradient in two. You can’t, it’s all the same monochrome blur in the end.

Barty was lost in this little daydream when he heard Pandora roar.

“WHAT?!”

Now Pandora didn’t often roar, maybe laugh maniacally every now and then yes, but yell? Scream? That was never her type of thing. Save for some rare occasions that Barty could probably count on one hand. Pandora yelling meant it was time to stop daydreaming about Evan’s curls or Evan’s hands with their chipped green nail polish or Evan’s fucking tight t shirts. Yeah time to stop thinking about that and listen up. So he did.

“I do not intend to offend anyone by it.”

Riddle raised his hands up defensively with a cheap sleazy smile that immediately made Barty dislike him.

“I’m just saying that this venue prides itself on a distinct lack of…untoward behaviour. It’s not a massive deal, I think your lead and backup singers can use separate microphones for two nights of a six month tour.

“What the fuck man?”

Barty stepped forward immediately hands curling into fists, Riddle was pretty short, he could definitely take him if that’s what it came to.

“Barty stop, that isn’t the right way to solve things. Come on let’s just- let’s come back later ok? See if we can talk to someone else, not this piece of shit.”

Dorcas spat out the last three words as she pulled Barty back to the group.

He was going to argue till he felt Evan put a hand on his shoulder, instead he just left Evan guide him away after the rest of the group.

“We’ll figure it out ok?”

“Fucking- Ev we can’t play there. They’re fucking homophobic.”

“Barty the O2 has been your dream since-“

“I DONT BLOODY CARE!”

“Barty shut the fuck up. I said we’ll talk about it and we will, we will figure it out but stop acting like a goddamn CHILD.”

Barty looked over at Evan who had his teeth bared, slightly wild look in his eyes. He was seething too, clearly. Just more mature than Barty.

“Ok, yeah.”

He breathed in.

“I’m sorry Ev.”

“Hey it’s alright. It’s just important the band shows a united front against this you know? We can’t split up or in fight because then, well then we all lose.”

“Yeah. Yeah you’re right Rosie. But we will do something.”

“I promise you they’re not getting away with this.”

Evan nodded. He tossed a hand over Barty’s shoulder, pulling him in just a little bit closer as they walked. Barty wasn’t complaining.

“You don’t get it Marls, we can’t just not play the O2. We’d lose way too much money off it, probably too much to be able to continue with the rest of the tour. Plus venues will think we’re unreliable and might cancel or pull out. Riddle is such a fucking dick, he only told us when we went there for a tech practice literally today.”

“Fuck yeah that’s shitty.”

Marlene was sat next to Barty on the floor of his hotel room, helping him repaint his nails. The entire band had them matching, a bright toxic green, his had started to fade though.

“What if you just…ignore them? Do it anyway?”

“Yeah, yeah. It’s not like they can drag us off stage mid performance.”

“Not without exposing their homophobia.”

“Still…I wanna make a statement. Something big you know? Show them they can’t straight wash us.”

Marlene looked up at Barty, eyes twinkling mischievously.

“I might have an idea then.”

Evan was sat in an alcove in the hotel corridor watching Regulus patiently braid and unbraid Pandora’s hair on the sofa opposite him. It calmed them both down whenever they were stressed. And Barty and Marlene, locked up together in Barty’s hotel room. Both raging homosexuals dead set on never following rules talking amongst themselves just before the biggest gig of the band’s history? Yeah that was a reason to be stressed. That’s when he heard the tell tale clump of Barty’s docs down the corridor. And he was walking with purpose.

As soon as he came into view Evan noticed the way his eyebrows were knotted together yet his eyes were glimmering with excitement. Evan had no clue what Barty was going to say next but it wasn’t that.

“Marlene thinks I should kiss you.”

Barty announced and Evan dropped his jaw, staring at him agape.

“What?”

“And I agree with her.”

“What?”

I’m tired of the bullshit so excuse my anger.

Please PLEASE stop spreading misinformation. Especially about things autism related and things that have been explained hundreds of times and you could just simply search it up and learn.

Autism is a disability to most. Even those with low support needs! Those with low support needs CAN say that their autism is a disability because it DISABLES them. It disables them because low support needs doesn’t mean NO support needs. Many low support needs people might need help with IADLs. They might need help with things like balancing finances, might not be able to drive. Might not be able to cook large meals. These are all things low support needs people MIGHT need help with.

Saying that they don’t is completely disregarding the struggle that low support needs people still go through. The struggle of communication issues, sensory issues, etc etc. Autism is disabling to most and that should be addressed.

Yes, low support needs people are less disabled the high support needs people (with autism). Yes low support needs people have had society generally more accepting of them. (Pointed out by a friend) I know that’s hard. I know it’s hard for someone’s autism to be less disabling. It’s not a competition. Support needs are meant to not say how you are against allistic people, they were made to compare against other autistic people. However, that does not mean you can say that low support needs people aren’t disabled by their autism. That doesn’t mean you can say that low support needs should be turned to NO support needs. That isn’t right. Stop spreading misinformation in the tags and simply LEARN. Learn from us. Learn from high support needs people. Learn from low support needs people. Just learn. Listen too when someone tells you something. Listen!!

Part 62 sneak peek: Two birds, One stone (Two Secrets, One Gun)

The hospital room isn’t big enough for all of you let alone when more staff enters the room along with someone who Namjoon must know, because she instantly starts listing off different medical jargon and refers to him by name.

One moment you’re standing in the doorway and then the next you’re pressed to the wall between Tae, Jimin, and Hobi. Tae opens the door and geastures.

You step out, because it’s surely more important that Namjoon Jin and Yoongi get at Jungkook right now even if your heart clenches painfully at leaving jungkook.

Jimin is still vibrating out of his skin but Tae tugs him in for a hug in the hallway. You don’t realize you’ve been holding your breath until you watch him hug her back. but Jungkook was Tae and Jimin’s packmate first. It’s no wonder that this has shocked them both closer, their fight forgotten.

Or mostly forgotten, You watch as Jimin wraps his arms around her slowly, like he's not sure he's allowed.

Hobi jogs you out of your staring, turning your face towards his and, looking intently. You forget what he’s looking at until his fingers skim your chin and you feel pain. You drag your arm across it and it leave a small rusty trail on the sleve of tae's jacket, just another stain on it.

Oh, you forgot that happened during the blast, you'd almost forgotten.

“Tripped, banged my face on the sidewalk.” it's close enough to the truth that the lie goes unnoticed. Hobi makes a sound, holding your elbow. Squeezing it reassuringly.

“I’m gonna get some snacks from the vending machine, can I get you something?”

“Didn’t eat dinner” you say, staring down at Hobi’s red converse. there are scuffs on the linoleum and a drop of blood someone must have missed. You wonder who it’s from, another person from the emergency room.

“You sure Jin and joon won’t be angry?” Tae is close enough to overhear, and she rubs her cheek across the top of Jimin’s head, scenting him sweet (or trying too.)

“Yeah- junk food isn’t exactly the most nutritious.” you stumble, stepping close, swaying suddenly on your feet. Hobi catches you around the shoulders and for a second, you must look like the mirror image of Tae and Jimin.

Hobi's scent smarts with worry. and he pushes you back, making you sit down. “They can live with it, she deserves a special treat. I’m getting you a bandaid.” Tae looks like she wants to argue with Hobi, then doesn’t.

Hobi gets skittles and peanut eminem’s and two bags of funyunions. the coloful packages are scattered across your laps as he tilts your head to put the Band-Aid on your chin (gotten from a helpful nurse). Fingers that tenderly curve under the wide part of your jaw, drumming there. Tae nibbles on a peach ring. Inside Jungkook's hospital room it isn't quiet, but the four of you are silent with the devastation of this.

Jimin still isn’t speaking much, but when you say you feel nauseous, Hobi gets up and gets you ginger ale too. You know there just isn’t much for him to do, alpha instincts and no omega to cool them but you. Hobi holds your hand, he doesn’t say that Jungkook’s going to be okay. He doesn’t say anything but

“Which are your favorite?”

The back of skittles jingles and he picks out all the green ones, lining up his pants in a orderly little row for you to grab when the ones you suck on go small enough.

You don't realize you're crying until he gets you a tissue, dabbing at your cheek. "There you go, Kookies gonna be fine. He's always fine." His voice goes slower, honeyed.

You rest your cheek on his shoulder, and he lets you. “You got a pair of headphones?” Your breath is shaky, and you think you might be shaking apart right now if it wasn’t for Hobi.

Namjoon stares at the packages a second too long when he exits the door. His hair is pushed up like he’s run his fingers through it, but he doesn’t smell quite as worried as he did before.

he looks at the package and you shrink underneath his disaproving stare.

He all but snaps his fingers, “Tae, would you please go get some real food before they get a sugar high.” Hobi does not flinch at Namjoon’s cross tone, even as Tae shoots to her feet. Hobi doesn’t do anything but put a pink starburst on his tongue, slowly.

Jimin keeps pacing.

WIBTA if I ask a friend to stop certain media habits when we’re around each other?

I know this is extremely common on this account but this particular situation kinda scares me bc me and my friend are really close and I don’t want her to freak out. So I (16F) and my friend J (16F) have known each other since we were like 3/4. I am diagnosed autistic and she is in the process of a diagnosis through school (ik this sounds irrelevant but it will be later). Recently she came over and we like a lot of the same media so I decided to put on this one tv show. My friend is a frequenter of tiktok and often gets spoilers for shows on purpose, whereas I will actively black list tags & stuff on tumblr to avoid them. So I put on this show and she keeps like mouthing along with clips or songs in a way that sort of. I can hear her lips/tongue moving and it sets off my sensory difficulties, and is generally loud when we’re watching. I like occasionally commenting on things like theories, but she shushes me because she wants to watch ‘quietly’. We were watching with one headphone each and just general mouth noises make me want to cry, I had to block my other ear with a pillow (lol). I know she’d probably get genuinely over apologetic and sad if I ask her directly not to do it, so I keep hoping that she can take the hint (yes that is a bit of an asshole move but I don’t want to upset her), and maybe sort of nudge her by saying ‘oh I don’t want spoilers, it kinda ruins it for me, doesn’t it for you?’ Ik I’m heavily relying on social cues (which I’m not the best at) but she from my pov seems to react better to and understands better indirect criticism than direct. I’m scared I’ll upset her if I tell her but every time we watch something together it makes me feel ill. worst thing that could happen is she refuses to talk to me about or watch stuff with me?? which I really don’t want I genuinely don’t know.

A/N: I did this for my own enjoyment, okay? This is based on my own personal experiences with autism, but I tried to keep it as friendly as possible! Not everyone’s the same, you know?

This is x gender neutral reader!

I’m gonna start this out by talking about how easy it is to feel comfortable in Miles’s bedroom.

He always has his normal lights turned off and LED lights turned on because it’s more comfortable for him

So he’d let you adjust them to how you like it.

He likes lighting candles so it always smells good in there

It’s always clean so there’s no mess to overwhelm you (just bc sometimes messes overwhelm me)

And he has a small space heater so it’s pretty easy to get the room to the right temperature.

It’s quiet in there and his bed is so warm and so cozy

Would recommend.

There’s no need to mask with him. I mean it. He wants you to be comfortable with him and open about yourself.

He won’t judge you.

With your permission, he did tell him mom before you met her

In case things got overwhelming, or something just didn’t go right, he wanted to make sure she understood. (She did.)

Miles was already the kind of boyfriend who has notes in his phone dedicated to information about you

So he has one with any and all of your sensory issues typed out

He had them memorized, but it was just in case.

If you need them, he always has a pair of noise canceling headphones in his backpack for you (he’s one of those kids who carries his backpack everywhere).

Please please please let him listen to you talk about your special interests and hyperfixations!

Bros invested

It’s his favorite thing, listening to the people he loves talk about the things they love

Shows, books, movies…

I know when I’m hyperfixating on a show or movie it’s the only thing I’ll watch (I’ve seen The Mighty Duck movies at least 25 times EACH) he will watch and rewatch them with you

He doesn’t get bored either. He likes getting to enjoy what you enjoy. It makes him feel closer to you

Would definitely subconsciously memorize any signals you may give off

If you have bad habits for when you’re overwhelmed (idk if this is an autism thing for me, but like when I’m overwhelmed I scratch my skin and bite my nails a lot) he’d calmly just like…stop it?

Like pulling your hand away and letting you fidget with his fingers or clothes

He’s a very patient guy, you know? And he loves you.

And he’s so good with meltdowns? Or panic/anxiety attacks. All of the above, basically.

He’s so quick to realize what’s happening and is even quicker to get you away from what’s making it worse (I.E: leaving the room/building to take you somewhere quiet, etc.)

He doesn’t complain or get upset about anything during a meltdown because he knows you can’t help it

Asks for permission before touching you, gives you as much time and space as you need

And is absolutely there for aftercare, too.

He knows it can be exhausting. He’s definitely extra careful with you after a meltdown because he doesn’t want to make anything worse

He keeps things at his house for you, too. Fidgets, comfort foods…bro keeps a weighted blanket on his bed just for you.

He does his research. You’re not going to find any gray areas in his brain

Now, he’s a pretty touchy, feely guy

He likes holding you and loving on you, having you close to him..

So I can see him getting disappointed when you let him know that you don’t want that

But he gets over it pretty quickly

He lets you do things at your own pace and is completely open to a compromise about this kind of stuff

And Miles isn’t afraid to ask you questions, either. But if you don’t have an answer, it’s okay.

If you’re overstimulated and/or going through sensory overload, he’s gonna do his best to get you what you need

He gets that, in times like that, communicating can be hard. That’s why it’s so good that’s he’s so patient. He keeps his voice gentle and his tone doesn’t change

He’s extra straightforward with you to avoid any miscommunication

Overall?

10/10. Would recommend.

Chris Evans x autistic daughter

Summary: finally the holidays are here, school is out and so is the routine. Chris helps reader though the struggle of routine change.

It was finally December 17th, school was out for the holidays. Three long weeks of social events and recuperation it couldn’t come sooner the relief that left your face was comforting for you dad to but he knew that with the relief came the hardship of the dreaded routine change.

Like clockwork you are up at 7am on the dot ready to go though your morning routine, by 8 it was blueberry pancakes in the kitchen for breakfast. Something was off you could sense it, you knew it was the holidays but where was your dad… you thought, that thought was soon shook off when you noticed the time. Finishing the rest of you breakfast like it was going to disappear.

You were late. You were never late. Routine it’s my routine, it’s good.

That was what tipped you over the edge. No one could ever predict how badly routine changes would affect you it was always different.

So when Chris heard a sobbed scream from the kitchen he knew the realisation had hit for you. Sprinting like his life depended on it with sleep still ever present, in his joggers that he went to bed in he got to the kitchen in 5 seconds but it felt like 5 minutes.

Gripping you softly, as to not make you hurt yourself, he murmurs “breathe for me baby, breathe.”

Hyperventilating the slow steady rise and fall of the hard object your sloped against in a exhausted pile of yourself. Slowly you come back to your senses the ringing stops, the dizziness fades. It’s your dad the lifeline you always came back to.

“Hey sweetie, you don’t have to say anything but how about we talked about a routine for the holidays, you can work on some coursework whilst I work in my office if you want to - if you think it’ll help.” Chris says noting your quiet exhausted demeanour. He knew routine was essential for you to keep some sort of grasp on reality.

“Huh, yeah that sounds good dad, thank you for always being the level head whilst I’m all wobbly and out of sorts.” A small smile formed on your face.

It made Chris’ heart flood with relief.

“My pleasure sweetheart.” He lightly kisses her forehead.

A couple of days later the plan previously mentioned was underway and it seemed to be working really well. It not only made Chris smile it made you feel content and like you had a hold of something.

Sometimes if you needed it you would go on the daily dog walk in the morning with dodger and your dad, just to get out of the same “4 walls” that sometimes drove you nuts.

But all in all the holidays were always the best regardless of if the routine was out.

Finally finally, she’s back.

I’m gonna get straight to it, I might be leaving again in a weeks time ( I don’t know i literally just get an email telling me it drives me insane) but I thought whilst I really have masses of downtime here is the first ask after a long hiatus!

@fireflywritesgt ok i read your tag on ch21 and i took that as a personal challenge (and then while I was writing this you dropped ch22 and THEN 23 and murdered me. but i'm back now. so)

HELLO Ok fuck yeah hold on everybody take my hand. We’re theorizing about this chapter 🙏 spoilers thru ch23 below

Re: the tag: dare I hope the next story will be set in a similar time/place… i MUST ADMIT despite the significant broader cultural stigma of such a thing. I have often contemplated. Harry and Joe helping with providing socialized miniature healthcare 😭 (maybe to wherever Lorraine lives[?] or knows of?) and when I heard mention of a Tiny Town Hospital… one must wonder how this compares to a Giant Hospital, or to the barber surgeon dens that Joe has presumably had some frostbitten toes cut off at.

OTHER THINGS I’M SPECULATING ABOUT: “certainly, bandits were a problem a borrower occasionally had to face” 🤔 damn that's rough. I do love the sense that there are few overarching cultural norms, whether it's around marriage or language or so on. Everybody is kinda doing their own thing (including robbing each other oof).

I am also VEEEERRY curious about the implications of WHATEVER the tinies that are working in Tiny Town are doing. What kind of mechanized thing could be profitable from a lot of little guys pressing buttons? Or is it maybe not something physical they’re producing? Is it instead a research project? Some attempt at “civilizing” the tiny society for giant colonialism reasons? There’s got to be some kind of output here that is valuable to some kind of giant, but I’m still mystified at what it will be. “Joe wanted to ask him about the four armed giants who stood outside of Tiny Town” YEAH MAN ME TOO‼️ <- secretly delighted this is still coming up because I want to know what it means QUITE BADLY

Joe lamenting that there don't seem to be any libraries, or restaurants, or speakeasies, or any mark of ... art or entertainment? In Tiny Town? I REALLY HOPE Joe and Harry get over themselves and kiss soon so they can TALK ABOUT HOW FUCKING WEIRD THIS PLACE IS???? It made me INSAAANE THAT JOE JUST BRUSHED OFF TALKING ABOUT IT AT ALL 😭 JOE TO HAVE THOSE THINGS. PEOPLE HAVE TO WORK AT THEM. ARE ALL THE PEOPLE IN TINY TOWN JUST WORKING ON PUSHING BUTTONS??? JOE PLS

“Expecting handouts from the bloody giants…” sooo fascinating to hear him voice this, since this whole project is a handout in the absolute best case scenario (given that scraps are worthless to giants), although likely closer to a prison, as Professor Hill called it. Still patiently waiting for his smart and cool wife to explain things to me <3

I hope Joe will deign to really talk about what happened to him… GURL go process it with ur beautiful best friend!! Let him hold you and comfort you and tell you you’re literally so smart and correct and everything you’re saying about ditching the buttons part entirely is literally so beautiful and true!!! Go rock his world with your insights king!!!

Also lmfao Joe is definitely not Irish bcuz his Irish Goodbyes need some SERIOUS work. King of just literally running off when he’s not feeling a conversation anymore.

He does this so often and it makes me cackle every time. Wait hold on those great meme posts make me want to make a JUST WALK OUT! One.

Absolutely loving the tension of it all… the reveal that Joe was doing watchmaking when he was TWELVE, meaning (if I'm keeping track of time correctly) he got snatched right after he was ABANDONED BY HIS ONLY FAMILY IN THE WORLD, was so artfully done. I had to stop in my tracks and think at the “he’d known O’Grady longer in his life than he hadn’t” and do math and be like “oh fuck.” Maybe this was teased prior and I didn’t pick up on it, but it hit HARD. For some reason I hadn’t assumed he was a kid — but why wouldn’t he be? If little kids are already doing things like crawling into discarded beer bottles. Fuck, Warren, heartbreaking stuff. Bravo. Of course Joe would be as dedicated to going and seeing him as he was Harry in the hospital. He cares so deeply about everyone, but especially his friends. It’s too bad O’Grady is no longer in a place to reciprocate the love Joe gives !!! But of course Joe still would not be ready to throw away the boot knife O’Grady made for him… “a decision that would forever change Joe’s life” btw I can hear ur evil hehe from here. :)

Also btw THIS little detail is one of those things that makes rereading your story so delightful: “They invade our end of the city, take our jobs, show up at our bar… did we invite them? No.” O’Grady was practically ranting. “And when we politely tell them to leave, what do they do?” O’Grady pointed to his bandaged head. “Watch out for them once you get here. They’re not good Irishmen like you and me, Joe.” juxtaposed with the actual breaking news we heard from the radio ? "“AN IRISHMAN AND AN ITALIAN ARE IN THE HOSPITAL AFTER A MASS BRAWL OUTSIDE A BAR ENDED IN A CRACKED SKULL AND A STABBING. NEITHER OF ‘EM HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED YET.”" a fucking STABBING = "politely tell them to leave"? What kinds of things has Joe's friend gotten used to excusing?

And of course I love the moments of solidarity within the tragedy of the newly realized (or at least newly stoked) xenophobia between borrowers. Joe being reminded of how his parents spoke, and how his brother shooed him off, in the gestures of a stranger… you really do a great job of evoking the ways we are all connected to each other. His family is gone, but he still sees them everywhere he looks. [pacing my enclosure and being sooo normal about how Joe has purposefully isolated for a decade and yet cannot help but see the beauty and humanity of his fellow man whether tiny or giant bcuz despite thinking he’s wired wrong, he’s actually wired like all of us who have felt that way for our unusual proclivities. He’s wired for connection with his fellow man. And he’s so wired for it u can feel how much it hurts his heart. Haha I’m sooooo .] The older guy was trying to warn him off crossing a white line into the “Irish ward”, too, right? The gesture was a kindness. And speaking of, does that mean the little tunnel somebody dug is to the Irish district? Or was I turned around and it was the Italian one? Either way — who would be trying to get in here, and why? Maybe it’s just a desperate person, but O’Grady talking about how bad it’d be if they saw Joe, and the need for an ID, makes me think it’s not someplace you can sneak into and integrate with. Just makes me curious as to whether it’ll come up again!!

THIS is also something I'm wondering about -- could the 'output' of Tiny Town maybe be researching, like... ethnonationalism? In the wake of WWI? Those drawn lines separating different 'wards'... do we think Tinies came up with this shit on their own? I doubt it, if someone like Dawson who is immediately assigning people nationalities that we know from Calloway's nobody "normal" in borrower society knows/cares about. HMMMmmmmMMMMM. I'm still reaaaaally curious how much Hill knows about this place and what hand, if any, he had in it. ONCE AGAIN, boys get kissing so you can also get TALKING. I think Harry would have much to say about how pointless it is to hate individuals from other nationalities after everything he saw during the war. Or so I assume, given he had no bad reaction to Joe being Italian.

AND WELL THIS IS LESS THEORYCRAFTING AND MORE “ME WANTING TO WRITE MORE FANFIC ABOUT THEM” BUT I WAS SOOO DELIGHTED THE CHAPTER DIDN’T END WITH HIM LEAVING TINY TOWN AND WE INSTEAD GOT DRESS REHEARSAL 2 OF HARRY AND JOE GETTING SO FUCKING DOWN BAD FOR EACH OTHER AT THE WINDOW & IN THE BEDROOM. YIPPEEEEE <- this was written before ch22 lol pictures taken moments before disaster

I'm sooooo glad Joe's books are making more and more appearances... much like Harry I'm endlessly delighted by his culture. I wanna know what shaped his romantic fantasies!!

HEY HOLY SHIT I REALIZED AFTER CH23 SOMETHING I SUSPECTED BUT COULDN'T CONFIRM: if homophobia isn't something borrowers have. Is one of these romance novels Joe owns going to be between two men? Harry is going to get his fuckin world rocked. Him and Georgie stole books from the library before, but I doubt they found any gay romance stuff (still impossible for baby-gay-Gnash to find that almost 100 years later in their rural libraries, lol.) Would this be Harry's first exposure to something like that? Wahhh... hurry up and open up to each other again you need to talk culture ASAP...

I'm also very curious if borrowers would have more taboo novels of their own, particularly giant/tiny stuff. And would Joe have come across any of it? I imagine it'd be extremely difficult to sell things like that without a beating, but maybe in bigger night markets -- and Joe said he's been in lots of very big cities... if his third novel is some really salacious g/t writing that would do numbers here on tumblr dot com I'm going to lose my god damn mind.

YES! I’m so glad somebody asked me for this.

Disclaimer: although I am not formally diagnosed, my therapist and I both believe I am somewhere on the spectrum so I hope I can do this prompt justice. But it will mostly be based on my experience. Feel free to tag me in or reblog with your own headcanons with this prompt too pls.

Headcanons of Severus Snape with an autistic partner.

Severus would do really well with an autistic partner. Especially since I headcanon that he’s neurodivergent as well.

He loves to hear you talk about your special interest. Whatever it may be, he’ll listen to you discuss it for hours. He’ll even do his own research so he can bring it up with you.

Feeling overstimulated? He’ll wrap you up in his cloak and hold you. His cloak has the most soothing texture that calms you instantly. Severus also naturally smells good without the use overwhelming colognes or fragrances so his hugs are always welcome.

If you take medication, he’d be the one to remind you especially if you had the tendency to forget. He’d do this with water and food. Not in a controlling or overbearing way. He just wants to make sure you’re okay.

Severus is no stranger to fidgeting or stimming so there’s no need to worry about him asking you “what are you doing?” In fact, he quite enjoys when you mess with the buttons on his frock coat.

You got a safety food? Best believe he’s stocking up on that. Perfect for those times you show up in the great hall and there’s nothing there that makes you want to eat. Or those days when the executive dysfunction is high and you can’t see yourself leaving bed for a meal.

If you had small little preferences or had a strict routine in place, he would be sure to memorize these. Prefer a small spoon or smooth fork? Can only drink out of particular cups? He’ll be sure to have those ready for you. If something was apart of your morning routine, he’d help make sure nothing threw it off. If he was buying you clothes, he’d make sure it was a fabric you liked and would cut out any tags if there was any. Considering I HC his love language as acts of service, I think he’d quite enjoy doing these things for you.

“Is this okay?” “is that too loud?” He’d ask in most situations. Knowing that sometimes it’s hard to voice those opinions. If you both were somewhere and someone was making unneeded noise he’d immediately ask them to quiet it down.

If your social battery dies or you can feel a meltdown coming, it only takes one look and Severus will be there at your side to get you out of a situation and help you feel safe.

If you aren’t a fan of physical touch, that’s fine. He’s happy to be there for when you need him.

He would always be very specific about what he meant when speaking so there’s no confusion or misinterpretation of his words/feelings. Expect reassurance from him too that he understood what you were trying to convey and there’s no need to repeat or reword it.

No need to force eye contact, he would tell you it’s not necessary if you’re not comfortable with it.

In terms of less wizarding world stuff, here’s things that bring me comfort to think about / imagine. This part is hella self indulgent I’m sorry

Sev becoming obsessed with your fidget toys and even getting a few of his own. He loves a good tangle and the small dimple pops. They stop him from picking at his nails.

You wearing your noise cancelling headphones around him for the first time and being hella nervous about it and you’re like “is this ok?” And he’s like “why wouldn’t it be?” 😩

Him loving said headphones and getting himself a pair. You catch him wearing them while he’s in his office, working on some potions or grading papers.

Feeling comfortable enough to unmask in front of him.

When doing your vocal stims he doesn’t look at you weird.

Snuggling with him under a weighted blanket

Finally, just him being there for you on those days where you have a breakdown and keep asking “what’s wrong with me?” after a particularly bad meltdown bc of overstimulation or a disruption to your routine or something else, and he’s just there whispering how there’s nothing wrong with you, and you’re perfect just the way you are.
