Hcs for being Natasha “Phoenix’s” sister from top gun?
Being Phoenix's Sister Headcannons
Tumblr media
She's five years older than you but holds that over you from time to time
You met Bradley and Jake after her Top Gun class graduation
Bradley treats you as his own little sister
And Hangman annoys you to no end, to which you annoy him right back
You've also got a flying license, you're just not a naval aviator
Nat and Bradley taught you how to fly an F-14 in sligjt combat, that was a week after their top gun grad.
Under no circumstances does Phe let you use the stove or the oven. She barely let's you use the microwave without her watch when she's state side
^Which is fair, considering the amount of fires you've had to extinguish
You live off a bunch if vending machine food at the top gun base
And that's how you met your sister's CO, Pete Mitchell, for the special detachment her, Bradly and jackass (aka Jake) were called back for. He caught you kicking the vending machine since it stopped half way through, not dropping the bag of chips you paid for.
To which you guys had a pretty good conversation together, forgetting to mention you're not an actual aviator.
He didn't learn about who you are until after the suicide mission. He saw you and Nat huh each other tightly after everyone got back state side, on the beach. Everyone was relaxing on the beach after the huge excitement that had happened.
Nat introduced you to him as her little sister, and you chuckled as his mouth gaped in surprise.
Everyone watches as you throw one of the footballs they brought at Hangman after him insulting your sister.
^Bradley giving you a fistbump and Nat sighs while trying to hide her smile.
You, Nat and Halo have a big sleepover movie night, just the three of you girls. Halo taking a liking to you, seeing a lot of Nat in you.
You 'borrow' a bunch of Nat's navy sweaters and wear them around the base and the Hard Deck, seeing how many people will belive that you're in the Navy.
You and Penny become good friends at the bar
^you learn some (a lot of) dirt on Maverick from her
Bradley explains to you about his relationship with Maverick and you may or may not have smacked him upside the head about how he cut connection with the man
^to which he agreed he deserved
The whole dagger squad now treat you as their baby sister and you can't go anywhere without 'protection' aka one of them.
You love your big sister to death, when you were younger you wanted to be just like her. Strong, loyal, pretty and much more.
Amelia and you become good friends, you like a mentor to her and teaching her about different flight maneuvers with model planes, everything you learnt from Nat and Bradley...and maybe....maybe Jake.

Iceman: Bradley, what did you get Natasha for her birthday? Bradley: Birthday...? Iceman: Your sister's turning 16. We're having a surprise party for her tonight. Bradley: Well, it's working, 'cause I'm surprised. Iceman: The party starts at 7. You have to get her a present, and something nice. Bradley: How about - Maverick: - Not another sock puppet. [Mickey walks into the room] Maverick(to Mickey): - You have to get her something too. Mickey: - Whoa whoa, what did I just walk into? Bradley: The Dads say we have to buy Natasha a birthday present. Mickey: What about a dog? I bet she'd like a dog. Maverick: I'm serious. You have to get her something. Mickey:...What about a dog? I bet he'd like a dog. Iceman:.....Mickey, is there another dog in my house? Mickey:...Maybe. [they walk into the living room to see a VERY large dog] Mickey: He followed me home, Dad. Bradley: Can we keep him? Iceman: No. I've told you I do not want a dog in this house. Mickey: Dad, please...! Toddler Callie: Horsey...! Iceman: No, honey. It's actually a doggie. Maverick: Who just made a horsy-sized "uh-oh"...

Deck The Halls
Requested: yes
Summary: When the Dagger Squad tries to help you put your Christmas lights up, it ends with a certain mustached aviator dangling from your roof.
Word count: 1.3k
Warnings: Falling off a roof. Bradley being a klutz.
Pairings: Dagger Squad x fem!reader(platonic)
Tumblr media
The Dagger Squad was all pilled into your house. Loud laughs floated around the room as you all discussed some of your favorite Christmas memories. Bob was in the middle of telling a story about a hilarious sledding accident from when he was a child. You were sipping on your hot chocolate slowly, watching your friends laugh loudly without a care in the world. It was rare that you all had Christmas off, but since the success of the uranium mission, some strings had been pulled leading to the Dagger Squad becoming a permanent detachment. Meaning that all of you would get to spend Christmas together this year.
Laughter continued to fill the room as Bob finished his story. Next, Jake began recounting a tale of a sleigh ride gone wrong. You watched your friends with a soft gaze. This was the first time in a long time that any of you had had significant time off. Clearly, it was well-needed. Jake finished off his story, the rest of the group chuckling quietly at the unfortunate way Jake had to spend his Christmas. Hopefully, no one ended up in a cast tonight.
Slowly, your living room grew silent. Everyone was either slowly sipping on their drinks or gazing aimlessly around the room. “Well,” Bradley spoke up, drawing everyone's attention. “Should we get started on the lights?” He had a good point. The entire reason that everyone was over tonight was to hang up Christmas lights. This year, the group had unanimously decided that your house would be the main one for all the Christmas activities that you planned on participating in. You had even worked out a way that you could all stay at your house on Christmas Eve. It was the first Christmas that you had off in a while, and you all planned on making the most of it.
Murmurs of agreement filled your living room as drinks were set on side tables. Everyone stood up before making their way to the front door. Unfortunately, seeing as you lived in Miramar, there would be no snow for Christmas. Some of the group still slipped into heavier sweaters, however. While there was no snow for Christmas, that didn’t mean that the evenings weren’t a little colder than they used to be. One by one, you all filed out of the house.
You, Phoenix, and Coyote moved away from the group and towards the shed at the back of your house. The Christmas lights should be in there somewhere. After a few minutes of sorting through boxes, the three of you eventually found what you were looking for. With one Tupperware container in each hand, the three of you made your way back to the group that was gathered in front of your house. The containers were set on the ground before Coyote turned back to grab the last one. Needless to say, you were a very festive person.
Bradley and Jake seemed to be discussing the best way to hang the lights while the others began riffling through the boxes. Mickey had taken it upon himself to draw up a plan based on the lights you told him you had. Now, he and Bob were shuffling through the boxes in search of those lights. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. You seemed to be missing a few members of your group. Just as you were about to ask where everyone went, Halo and Reuben emerged from the door, both with trays of freshly made drinks on them. As you had recently learned, both Callie and Reuben were amazing in the kitchen. Harvard and Yale were trailing behind them, arms full of everything else that you would need to put up the lights.
Once everything was set out in front of the group you all gathered around. It was silent for a moment before Bob spoke up. “I don’t suppose you have a ladder? That might make putting the lights up a bit easier.” Everyone laughed loudly at the comment. You shook your head with a light grin. Before you could even respond, Bradley was placing a warm hand on your shoulder and moving toward your shed. Your eyes trailed after him, slightly surprised he knew where to look. Moments later he returned, the ladder tucked under his arm.
Now that you officially had everything that you needed, teams were formed to hang up the lights. It was decided that Bradley, Phoenix, Coyote and Jake would be climbing up onto the roof while the rest of you remained on the ground. As they situated the ladder in the right place, you, Bob and Mickey began to untangle some of the lights. When you looked back over they were all standing on top of your roof. Once you finally had a strand untangled, Reuben carried it over to them while you began working on the next one. Callie passed them some hooks and an extension cord.
It seemed that with the whole Dagger Squad helping, the lights were on the roof in record time. By now, as per Mickey’s plan, coloured lights were being integrated with the white ones. You only had two strands left to put on the roof when it began to go awry. First, what was once a mostly calming activity was soon filled with anxious yells. Everyone’s eyes were now trained on the roof where the voices were coming from.
On the roof, you could clearly see Bradley’s arms darting around wildly. You gasped quietly, standing up and rushing closer to your house. You couldn’t see what was happening but if you had to guess, you would speculate that Bradley being the clumsy person that he is managed to get himself caught in a strand of Christmas lights. The other three that were up on the roof were nowhere near him, meaning that he had to figure out how to get himself out of it.
Everyone watched anxiously as Bradley got closer to the edge. You all tried to tell him, tried to warn him that he was getting too close. It seemed as if your warnings fell on deaf ears. Before any of you even realized it, Bradley was dangling from the edge of your roof. He had managed to get his arms free, which was the only way he hadn’t already landed flat on his back. You almost cursed yourself for the thought when his one arm slipped from the roof. The pilot glanced towards the ground, deciding whether or not it was worth it to just fall. With his height, he would only be falling a few feet.
Just as Reuben, Harvard and Yale rushed forward to try and help him, Bradley huffed and let go of the roof, landing on the grass with a groan. By that time, the other three aviators on the roof had made their way down. You all rushed forward to check on Bradley. When you reached him, you kneeled down by his side, placing your hand on the side of his head. His eyes slowly fluttered open. Warm brown eyes met yours as he blinked sluggishly. “Oops.” He whispered, voice rough. Everyone laughed slightly when Rooster cracked a small smile.
You rolled your eyes fondly. “Cmon, Bradshaw,” You huffed, pulling him up. He leaned the majority of his weight against you as you helped him over to your porch. When his eyes landed on you again he offered you a somewhat flirty smirk. You fixed him with a half hearted glare as you grabbed the water that Callie passed to you. “It’s a miracle that they allow you to fly planes.” The only response that you got from the aviator was a soft laugh. At least your group wouldn’t end up spending this Christmas in the hospital. You silently prayed that you could manage through the next few weeks with no more incidents.

An Old Friend Turned New
The plush goose that Rooster carries around needs fixing but this isn't just any goose
Words: 1548
As the sun came up higher than the horizon, Rooster stormed onto the base with a fury none of them had seen since they were first called to TOPGUN. His feet slapped against the floor as he exited the changing room. Blood rushed to his face as his nostrils flared.
He entered the hangar without looking at any of the others. Bob and Fanboy had been leading an impromptu lecture on the game Undertale when they lost the attention of the crowd.
Rooster pulled one of the chairs out so hard it screeched against the concrete floor and threw himself into it. He tapped the table vigorously and heaved.
"Alright, Rooster?" Phoenix asked.
He didn't reply. His eyes bored holes into the desk.
"Roo?" She repeated. "You okay?"
"I'm fine, Jesus, you don't have to ask so many times!"
She stormed over him and smacked her hands on the table. Matching his hard stare, she made sure that she got his attention.
"Hey, Bradshaw, I'm trying to be nice here," she lowered her tone. "You've just not been this snappy about anything since Mav, so naturally I'm concerned about you when you're acting the same way again."
His face softened. Light sparkled in the whites of his eyes as tears started to well up.
"Sorry,"
"What's up?" She said, squaring her shoulders so the others got the message to leave them alone.
He got up and gestured for her to follow him out of the hangar. The corridors were empty, he led them to the men's lockers and she stopped with her eyebrow raised.
"The men's locker room?"
He laughed, "Get your mind out of the gutter, I've got something to show you."
"That doesn't help my suspicions," she said but entered anyway.
The smell of sweat hit her immediately. Maybe it was because there were more men stationed here, there was only really her and Halo who used their changing rooms, or maybe naval men just didn't know deodorant existed. She wrinkled her nose and pressed on to Rooster's locker.
He opened it with a squeak and went to pick something up, only to stop and turn to her.
"Don't laugh, okay?"
"Why would I laugh?"
"Because it's kind of embarrassing."
"Just show me,"
He turned back to the locker and brought something out of it. A sad looking clump of white and orange fabric that she realised was meant to be a cuddly toy goose lay in two pieces in his hands.
"When I was about six months old, for my first Christmas, my dad got me this toy goose to remember him when he was away," he looked down. "It did look like a goose when I was younger, but thirty years of wear and tear make it look like a sad lump of fabric."
He laughed, "I used to hold it by the neck, which did freak my dad out considering it was meant to represent him."
She chuckled as he stroked what looked like an orange foot.
"I've taken him everywhere with me for over thirty years, I keep him in my locker for good luck, but I guess all the years caught up with him because his neck just fell off his body," he said, a frown on his face. "It's embarrassing, I know, I'm almost forty and still carry around a toy from when I was a baby."
She lay a hand on his shoulder, "It's not stupid. That was a gift from your dead dad to help remember him, it's only natural you'd get emotional if it was damaged."
Cradling it, he turned to her, his voice a whisper as emotion struck him.
"Can you do something?"
"I'm not much of a sewer, unfortunately," she said. "But I know someone who is."
---
Halo looked down at the goose toy then back up at Rooster, "What do you want me to do?"
"Sew the neck back to the body,"
She raised an eyebrow, "Okay, I can sew your-"
She stopped and looked again at the clump of fabric. Meeting Rooster's eyes, she shrugged with an apologetic smile on her face.
"Goose?"
He nodded and she got her confidence back.
"Yeah, I can sew your goose back together,"
He let out a sigh of relief and carefully transferred the material, free stuffing and filling beans over to her. She moved it to her bag and nodded at him.
"I've never fixed a goose before but it doesn't look too complicated beyond some stitching, maybe some extra stuffing," she said. "I'm used to fixing socks and sewing patches onto things, I'm a bit clumsy so I kind of had to learn to sew or rebuy my entire wardrobe every few weeks."
Rooster opened and closed his hands. His face fell and he looked up at her with puppy dog eyes.
"How long will it take?"
"I'd say about a week,"
He gulped and resolved his face again, "Thank you," he said quietly.
She gave him a smile and carefully put her backpack on, heading to the changing rooms.
Rooster watched her go with a weight on his chest. He'd never been without that goose. He'd always been in his bag or his locker or his car, not too far away. He did do his job, he felt more connected to his dad with him near. He chuckled, although it was weird to personify a toy goose so devoutly, it felt more strange to call the goose 'it' after thirty years.
"Everything'll be fine, you know that, right?" Phoenix said.
He sighed, putting an arm around her waist and making his way back to the hangar, "Yeah, I know."
---
A week later, Halo made her way to the main hangar to see Rooster. She’d done a bit more than just sew the goose's neck back on.
First, she gave it a gentle wash. She doubted it had been given a proper clean in the thirty years Rooster had had it. Well, she hoped it had at least been wiped over. He’d got it as a baby and, although she didn't know much about children, she knew babies were messy.
Next, she'd restuffed both the neck and body. One of the eyes had half fallen out so she resewed that too before finally fixing what Rooster asked her to.
She'd seen how important this goose was to him in his eyes, the way he was reluctant to give the goose to her and how quickly he'd asked for a time for her to fix it. It was the least she could do, or rather wanted to do, for him after hearing the story behind it.
Rooster approached her with the same expectant smile he had for the past three days now. Except this time she had something to give him.
"Halo, do you have the goose?" He beamed.
She swung her back around, "I have it."
"Him," he corrected.
"Him."
Opening her bag, she pulled out the fresh goose toy. The fabric was a brighter white and oranges of the beak and feet more vibrant. Instead of matted fur, she could run the material comfortably against her thumb. The eyes were settled onto the head and neck fully fixed onto the body to make a structurally sound goose.
He took the goose with shaking hands. His eyes sparkled. He sniffed and looked back at her.
"He looks just like I remember him being, how he should look," he said softly. "I can't thank you enough for this, Halo, I really can't."
She shrugged, "I mean it wasn't too much work."
"Not too much work? I only asked you to put him back together and you went and gave him a whole makeover!"
She rubbed her arm and blushed.
"This has got to be worth at least a month's drinks at the hard deck,"
"Maybe not a month, a week will cover it," she said but saw him about to but in again. "And some of that Bradshaw chicken soup too, I remember when you brought that in a few weeks ago and it went down a storm."
He hugged the goose closer to himself, "That sounds good, I'll whip some up later."
As they parted ways, he turned to thank her three more times. She smiled to herself, it felt nice to help her friends.
---
Rooster had to stop himself from running to the changing rooms. He threw open his locker door and held the goose in his hand again.
"You're back home, bud," he said.
He placed the goose in his locker, rubbing the soft threads against his hand. Smiling, he looked at the photo he was placed under.
Him and his dad on his first Christmas. His dad wore a horrendous purple patterned sweater with a surfing santa on it. He held Bradley in his arms just tight enough to be secure but not too tight as to hurt. They were both smiling. Bradley held his dad's finger in his baby fist. In his other hand, gripped by the neck, was the goose.
"Love you, dad," he said to the goose before shutting the locker door and heading out to train.
He could feel his dad with him now, even more than he usually did. And it felt nice to have the company.
Something cute! This kind of reminds me of the british show the Repair Shop where people bring beloved items like books, old toys, family heirlooms etc to get fixed by traditional trade experts and there have been quite a few toys that need resewing like in this fic. Also I put Halo in here because I haven't written her yet and she has some fans so here she is. Hope you enjoyed this!

“Damn double standards.”
“They suck,” Natasha agrees. It comes out more heartfelt than she intends it too. A beat of silence follows that ends with Halo clearing her throat.
“You good, Trace?”

double date
Javy sighs, swirling his drink its glass before taking another sip. He has to shout to be heard over the music, even as he leans close. “Anyway, like I said. I’m done talking about it.”
“You’re not, and that’s okay,” Nat says, reaching for his hand and patting it. “This is a safe space.”
“I am!” he promises, lifting his hands after pushing his now empty glass to the side. “I am, it’s just —“
“Ah, see, here it comes —“
“— why make these kind of moves this deep into the season? We’ve got the picks to bring ourselves up again next year, just finish the season with the squad you have, don’t trade them away.”
“Doesn’t matter anyway!” Jake’s voice cuts into Javy’s ramble as he slides up beside him, depositing the drinks in his hand before kissing Javy’s cheek with a loud smack. “The Cowboys are gonna win it all!”
“Please… stop talking,” Callie sighs, slotting into her spot next to Nat and setting down the drinks she brought. She shoots her girlfriend a long-suffering look, narrowing her eyes as Nat covers her laugh with a hand. “I have heard nothing but the Cowboys’ praises for about fifteen minutes and I’m ready to stab my own eardrums.”
“I told you to mentally prepare yourself,” Natasha reminds her. “This is what he’s like when they win.”
Javy snorts, shaking his head as Jake grins at the lot of them. “And believe it or not, he’s even worse when they lose. Or when he’s sober.”
Nat shakes her head, pulling Callie closer with a tug on her waistband. “And when they choke in the playoffs and lose in the first round? How bad is he then?”
Javy lifts his eyes to the sky, unloads a sigh. “Unbearable.”
“At least we’ll make the playoffs, unlike all of you,” Jake crows. He’s rewarded with crumpled up napkins thrown at his face, a chorus of boos as he grins and ducks away from the barrage. “Hey, hey, hey! Don’t be sore losers!”
But their laughter that follows is lighthearted, and it doesn’t faze him, and he once again comes back to Javy’s side. He gets a kiss as an apology, one he lets linger until the music picks up and Javy’s eyes open and his brows lift.
“Oh, baby,” he says to his boyfriend, suddenly grinning from ear to ear. “This is my song. C’mon, guys, let’s go dance to my song.”
“We just got drinks,” Callie says in protest, gesturing to her glass.
Javy can’t help his pout. “Cal, it’s my song. If I don’t get out on that floor —“
“Pound them back!” Nat calls out, and then she’s throwing back the cocktail like a shot.
Callie’s eyes go wide as she watches her girlfriend. Blinks as she gets a bright, winning smile, blinks some more as a wink follows it. “I don’t think you’ve ever been hotter than this moment,” she admits, and Nat’s laugh pitches high as Callie moves to kiss her firmly, as Jake grins and follows her lead.
Javy glances at Callie when she moves back to catch her breath, shoots her a smirk before lifting his glass. She laughs a little and lifts her own, a brief cheers as their drinks clink together before they hit the table and down what they have.
“This is my song!” Javy calls out, grinning as he grabs Jake’s hand and drags him to the floor. Callie smiles, too, but her hand grabs Nat’s and pulls her in for another kiss.
“It’s his song, babe,” Nat reminds her, nodding to the pair on the floor. “You gonna miss his song?”
“He can wait — you’re right here.”

Halo:...So, Rooster, what about you? You and Hangman thinking house, baby? Rooster: Ah, no I think we're going to wait on the baby thing. I mean I love babies. Babies rule. Pudgy arms and stuff, but they make you old. Kind of like this anchor weighing you down to one spot...forever. Halo:...I'm three month's pregnant. Rooster:...Not awkward, guys. Not awkward unless we let it be awkward...
