"internet historian's alt-right anyways" "great day to have never liked james somerton" "never even heard of illuminaughtii before this lol"
that's great buddy but don't go around thinking you're immune to this. if you're not looking for plagiarism, you likely won't notice it unless its egregiously obvious. hell, you've probably consumed plagiarized content without even realizing it. even hbomb pointed out that these people disguised what they presented pretty well as long as you didn't try and dig deeper. don't come away just thinking of this as a callout piece, take this as an important lesson about vetting your sources. if googling scripts in quotes was enough to expose the original, we should all start doing that shit!!
edit: it got a little too doomer-y a little too fast so one quick addition
this is hbomb's curated playlist of queer creators, many of whom were victims of plagiarism
this is producer kat on reddit calling for any more plagiarism discoveries and for queer content creators to be uplifted
please take some time to uplift these creators and recommend any you know! if you can help uncover more of the original creators whose work was lifted that would be great too :)
UPDATE- From Hbomb's twitter: "We're in the process of cataloguing everyone James Somerton plagiarised and finding their contact information. Which is quite a task, so to help us out: If you see this and happen to be one of the people Somerton stole from, please email us at [email protected]"

they really watched the first movie kfp, saw how Shifu raises Tai Lung as his son, how Shifu could not attack Tai Lung out of love for him, how Shifu refrained from touching his unconscious son because he thought he had no right, how Tigress says that Shifu never loved anyone like Tai Lung neither before nor after, how Tai Lung even years later is angry and jealous of the idea that the father has a new favorite, how Tai Lung admits that everything he ever did was just to make Shifu proud of him, how he literally knocks this words out of Shifu, how Shifu admits that he's always been proud of him, how decades later Shifu finally admits responsibility for his son's ruined fate and asks for forgiveness, how Tai Lung freezes in confusion because of his words, - and they still dismissed the idea of S&T reconciliation and farewell in kfp4 with the words "nah, it would be superfluous 🚬".

btw please block me if you feel the need to gatekeep the queer community. cishet aspecs ARE valid and they ARE queer. the "they don't experience discrimination" argument is possibly the most stupid thing i have ever heard because aspecs experience insane levels discrimination and people are extremely dismissive of them. we our more than our suffering. our community is not yours to gatekeep it isn't fair to invalidate people's queer identities just because you can't fit them in your stupid little box of specific labels.

“Maybe the people who sent the anons were trolls, but the transandrodorks are defending the sentiment so actually…”
Are the “transandrodorks” defending that transmisogynistic copypasta in the room with us? Or are you just upset that trans men/mascs are speaking up and saying we aren’t okay with being labeled as untrustworthy because of there being an anon copypasta and simply our being trans men/mascs?

this whole rashidmand/louis dynamic is really shedding so much new light on so many interactions but the one I keep coming back to is when he says to daniel “well, the interior designer hired was a sentimentalist. some notion of hers, he was missing the natural world.” it’s the fact that he says it like it’s some frivolous/almost silly idea that louis could be missing the outside/plant life. he doesn’t say “daylight” or anything like that, he specifically mentions louis missing the natural world like….why would he miss it so much….unless you’re keeping his schedule and whereabouts under lock and key and bringing all the food to him so he never has to leave his penthouse-shaped coffin……I’m sick

I may not agree with every wacky good omens theory out there but I hope we as a fandom keep generating them. It's fun and harmless and even the ones I consider totally unsubstantiated have interesting elements that make me think about the story a different way.
I do think it's wise to consider possibilities with a healthy amount of skepticism, especially the ones you really want to be true. I would hate to see anyone crushed when their pet theory doesn't eventuate. But if we're all throwing ideas around, we might hit on something real, and even if we don't, it will keep us in meta for the years to come.

I'm gonna nerd about music and my feels for a bit but whenever I listen to this song in particular, one thing that REALLY stood out to me was at the very end of the song. Right after the high-pitched horn sound, there were bits of sounds that reminds me of how sparkles would sound like. A sound of fleeting magic in the midst of nothingness.
When this score was played in the episode, the end of the song cuts to Don's house. He was last seen playing pretend with his kids, knowing not even an ounce of the idea that his world, along others, were at the brink of destruction. If it weren't for Loki, this simple life would've never existed.
Tumblr media
Now, hear me out. I'm very much reaching here and I'm like, 100% sure this is just my brain connecting the nonexistent dots. But, the mirror between both medias just felt really impactful for me.
Why?
Obviously, Loki's magic had given everyone a second chance. Not just his friends, or people in the TVA. Literally everyone. Even for someone insignificant like Don. The thing that saved best for the last is a mundane life everyone has, and I think it's beautiful, because you learn to perceive life on a better light knowing someone wants you to enjoy that while it lasts.
Especially for Mobius, though. It felt bleak knowing a good friend he had in a long while was taken away from him. But, he too, stepped out from his comfort zone and got to see what was his life before the TVA altered him to who he is now. He seemed uncertain of how his future is going to work now he had resigned from his position but perhaps looking back to his older footsteps would give him an idea of what's to come.
Perhaps in the end, there will be better hopes for both him and Loki. It's a fucking bleak outcome for both, and you might wonder if this what their fates were meant to be, even under the fact there are many possibilities for them to be together now. Are they really meant to be separated, despite the signs littered around the show said otherwise? That can't be it, yes?
The overall run of this song is hauntingly beautiful. Gloomy yet optimistic, it's a song that wraps the show in a light so positive yet caustic. Sure, things don't go the way you would've wanted, but the future is flux, so why not look forward for that?
I'd like to think the spark at the end is the sound of hope. And it could be anything. Hope of everyone for a better, lasting future, in the middle of darkness. Hope of TVA to run its course well in the embrace of the void. And, well...
Hope for Mobius to be able to see Loki again someday.

Shaking Bells Hells by the shoulders again: You had a very good recon mission just seeing the other side of the Bloody Bridge and extracting basic info in a small town. Take a moment to report back to people in power all the useful things you already learned. Get more spells/supplies from them. Then continue to the heart of the enemy. Time is short, but probably not so short that you can't take an extra hour or two to do that. Keyleth can tree teleport and she knows where you were. She just couldn't immediately jump to you because she had things to do/settle first. It's a war, powerful people can't come to your aid at the drop of a hat.

You've seen "excluding neurodivergent people is ableist" and now understand "neurodivergency is disability" but now get ready for for this one:
Neurodivergency can be disability but not every single neurodivergency is, actually. Yes, even those who technically could qualify for a diagnosis under the DSM or ICD may consider their neurtype to be beneficial to them, actually. And some neurotypes can be adjacent to the DSM and ICD without actually falling into them!
Neurodivergency can be disabled but in the way all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares.
The people seeing themselves as more abled for a neurotype that's disabling to you are not your enemies.
Break free of your chains, stop letting the DSM and ICD, the biggest perpetrators of ableism, define us and our communities.

lucy gray baird's philosophy
I want to "yes, and" this great meta post by @burst-of-iridescent. Specifically this part:
by the end of the book, coriolanus gives in fully to dr gaul’s way of thinking simply because it excuses him from accepting blame for his actions. if he killed sejanus, it’s because he had no choice. if he betrayed lucy gray, it’s because she would’ve betrayed him first. coriolanus refuses to believe in the goodness of humanity because that would have meant accepting the goodness that existed within him, and with that came the potential for making a different, better choice - potential that he knew, deep down, he had wasted. attributing his crimes to an innate evil that no one can overcome means that he can’t be held accountable, because it’s out of his control.
This got me thinking about how much Lucy Gray's worldview rejects of this way of thinking (and of a Calvinist*/ableist "some people are just born evil" pov people try to impose on the text, which people think is condemning him but actually... accidentally agrees with him that he was born evil and therefore can't help it??????). The book begins with several quotes chosen by the author, but I believe the one that represents Lucy Gray's worldview is Rousseau, who believed people were born with fundamental goodness.
Here's a source on him:
Tumblr media
(Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy)
And here's the quote Collins opens with:
“Man is born free; and everywhere he is in chains.” — Jean-Jacques Rousseau, The Social Contract, 1762
That's Lucy Gray's pov she's come to through living and reflecting as an artist; someone can disagree with it (of course, all of these questions are open for endless debate; they have been debated endlessly!) however, it's important to respect that is where she's coming from, not being foolish or naive. It is a worthy pov that should be respected, even if you disagree. And that she came to this pov through a hard life and from much thinking and she expresses it beautifully in her art.
Here's the key exchange from the book, after Coriolanus has taken on the idea that people are just awful and her articulating her philosophy in response:
Tumblr media
(Ballad, 495)
She's not naive. She recognizes the nuance that Rousseau does, that society shapes us. And Panem is pretty clearly a society led by people applying all the pressures they can think of on people toward evil. (And, after his heel turn, Coriolanus' is going to innovate some new pressures...) Clearly there are situations and circumstances that form us before we have much say in it, but that's not the same as being born evil.
The difference between inherent goodness and a corrupt society is, for Lucy Gray, a lot of hard work. It's a struggle. This repudiates both the version of "born evil" Coriolanus himself takes on, which relieves him of responsibility, and the self-righteous, Calvinist and/or ableist pov people keep arguing for, which makes "normal" people feel like they can be sure they're good (and ignore how we are all complicit in evil to some degree or another) because they have a "good" normal brain or they were just born so pure as a soul predestined for heaven. No, for her, everyone has to do the work. To her it's everyone's "life's challenge to try and stay on the right side of that line."
Even more pointedly, the love song she wrote him before his betrayal, "Pure as the Driven Snow," articulates her philosophy in the opening lines:
Tumblr media
(Ballad, 481)
Again, we have her personal focus on the work of "staying on the right side" of good and evil after being born good into evil circumstances. She knows it hurts; she's led a hard life herself. "It's rough as a bair" to do that work, it's "like walkin' through fire." But it is doable.
Lucy Gray meant it as a love song but IMO "Pure as the Driven Snow" ends up a lament for the boy Coriolanus was and her love that he betrayed when he betrayed himself. And it is a direct rejection of his excuses, it is inadvertently reading him for filth for the lies he tells himself that all the world is the Games arena, all people are selfish and bad, and he isn't to blame for what he's done because he just wants to come out on top/be the victor of this "natural" "war of all against all" that is Gaul's philosophy (related to the Hobbes quote Collins begins with; I wrote a meta on that here) that he adopts.
I see her demeaned as a foolish girl who just "like bad boys" and I get so frustrated. I also get frustrated by the view that she must not have ever been sincere in loving or trusting him because IF SHE WAS then she would be a fool and his betrayal would somehow be her fault. And she'd reject the idea that she's "good" just because she's so pure or that anyone can claim we're good without doing a lot of hard work.
Tumblr media
(Ballad, 482)
She is so thoughtful and interesting as a character. And she didn't just "like bad boys" - Coriolanus showed only his good side to her until the very end, once he'd decided to kill that part of himself. She had no way of knowing. Sometimes you trust someone and they betray you, it doesn't make you wrong, the shame is all theirs.
*Strict Calvinist predestination is some people are just predetermined to be bound for heaven and some for hell, some people are just born good and others are born bad. A lot of people in fandom seem to love Calvinism idk why. The ableism bit of this should be self-evident: there is no such thing as a "bad" brain type completely incapable of morality or a "good" brain and neurodivergence is not the source of all evil!
