joshua - royale high: shua was hard since he doesn't rlly play video games? he would def not be into these competitive games. i can see him having fun dressing up his avatar in royale high for some reason. would prob lowkey be an annoying troll, or those rich ass mfs constantly showing off

wonwoo - tower of hell/dungeon quest/arsenal/doors: can't really decide on one. he's pretty versatile with his games but i think he mainly prefers battle strategy games and fighting games. would definitely complete a tower of hell obby in less than a minute fr. is probably on the leaderboard of dungeon quest and has all the legendary spells, armour, and weapons. he's also completely fine with anything horror

woozi - those anime sims n fighting games/death ball/robeats: personally i have never played any of those anime fighting games ever but he would def be the one to enjoy them the most. will def beat your ass in death ball with his gigantic double wielded swords. he'd also continuously get hella high scores on robeats

dk - work at a pizza place: no explanation needed. he is living his life as a cook and delivery person

mingyu - theme park tycoon/natural disaster survival: i found mingyu to be hard as well LMAO. i feel like he could make a bomb ass theme park in theme park tycoon tho. either that or he's getting freaked out over the blocky tsunami coming his way

flynn for the ask game!! or if he's already been sent, then isabeau!!

favorite thing about them: While at first I found it a little jarring, going from a completely silent protagonist to one speaking, I'm really endeared to Flynn's gentleness and soft-spokenness. And actually it suits him really well, having once been a silent protagonist. Nor is it even out of left field -- NPCs in IV comment that Flynn is very reserved and quiet. So I'm really glad that IVA kept that even while giving (the real) Flynn a couple speaking lines. I also really, really like that he (the real one) stays humble and reserved in IVA despite his celebrity status. When I first played IVA, I had only done IV's chaos route, so I found everyone praising him to be really jarring. But now having done the neutral route, I can see why and it makes me appreciate Flynn's modesty all the more. Not to mention, it makes the distinction between him and Shesha Flynn's radical "personality shift" all the more apparent. That's good!!

least favorite thing about them: Having said all that… This is more an issue with IVA's writing and pacing, but I do wish that (the real) Flynn got more moments to express himself and really show his own character. Flynn suffers from the same problem that Toki does -- we don't get to see their actual character for the majority of the game and their potential and own development suffers for it. I'm very happy with Flynn's personality in IVA, but the rest of him only serves as a foil for the plot and especially in handing Nanashi the torch.

favorite line: My favorite line WOULD be his comment on Issachar's fishing hook in the bonds route, had I not permanently missed the fishing hook in my first playthrough 😭

However, I do really like his surprised, saddened reaction when he sees Jonathan's and Walter's spirits in YHVH's Universe. I was actually surprised that he even reacts to them in the massacre route even after becoming a semi-mindless puppet, especially when…he no longer has any attachment to the fishing hook in that route aaaauuughhhhh 😭😭

brOTP: EASILY Flynn and Issachar being the bros for life and eternity!!! And he's totes bros with the whole Samurai cast, for sure for sure!

OTP: I like a lot of Flynn ships (minus my NOtp), but Flynn x Isabeau are truly best for each other. I love that Isabeau cares for and is devoted to Flynn, but without sacrificing her own convictions. I do wish though that Flynn showed some attraction to her (again, an issue with IVA's writing).

nOTP: Yeah uh, I really hate seeing Flynn x Nanashi and I hate how popular it is in the Japanese fandom. Big reason why I don't engage a lot with the IVA fandom cause I'm just so tired of seeing that.

random headcanon: I too also lowkey fancy the headcanon of Flynn being a transwoman, based on dialogue demons can give in IV~ We support trans headcanons in this house!

unpopular opinion: Like aside from how certain sides of the fandom treats him with respect to other characters, and what I've already voiced about his writing in IVA, I don't really have an unpopular opinion on Flynn? Kinda hard to when he's mainly a player avatar. He's good that way.

Gladly grabs the mail on his way back, but will defs just leave it all piled on the nearest countertop. This will pile up over time, even when he actually goes through it. Like, he'll take all the important stuff, but then leave the junk there to ‘take care of later’. Later never comes though XDDD

Apologizes for mixing colors in the laundry, but is all too happy to point out how cool everything looks now! Easiest tie-dye ever am I right?

We already know he’s a good cook, but his version of cleaning up after usually involves just leaving all the dirty dishes in the sink until there’s like, a spoon or something all the way at the bottom of the sink, then it’s time to clean everything in there

There’s always either some scented candles or incense burning somewhere. This is non-negotiable, and he brought it up before you guys even signed the lease

Not nearly as clean as people would assume, but it’s not a literal tornado of chaos either. There’s little daily messes that show someone lives there, but the weekly maid service helps to keep things in order

She tried making the two of you dinner... once. There may have been some fire, and a contractual agreement that she would never again approach the kitchen with intent to anything more complex than either coffee or a salad... You guys eat out or have meals delivered a lot. For safety

There’s  specific slots for all the mail. There’s one for junk mail, your mail, her mail, the slot for the old man who lives two levels down but the post office constantly keeps getting the mailboxes wrong.. There’s also hooks near the front door for all of the keys, so it’s always a no-brainer when you need to find them

Because of her job, sometimes has to have either fellow business people over for dinner parties so she can do some networking. You’re always welcome to join in if you like, but she wouldn’t force you to. Also gives you as much notice as possible because it would be rude otherwise

Can sometimes literally disappear into her bathroom all damn day for some mandatory self care. Hair clipped up in a hot towel, bubble bath, shades drawn, wine in hand, light snacks nearby, and spa music playing. She’ll put up a small ‘Do Not Disturb’ plaque outside her door, but she’s never too upset if you need to come in and speak to her about something

Julian

For the first few months after signing the lease together, aside from his shit being in there, you weren’t really sure he ever actually moved in. Yeah, Malak was there, and it was obvious he was getting fed and attention, but like... the ‘how’ was the freaky part

Quickly learns how you take your coffee and makes sure to do it perfectly every time. “You take two spoonfuls of sugar with 2/3 cup cream? Well then you’ll need a larger mug to accommodate; here, I get most of mine from this website. You can even ask them about custom designs on any size!”

Will get the mail on the way back from his shift at the hospital, but is likely to forget it as soon as he sets it on the nearest counter. His mind just goes off in too many directions, so you’ll have to remind him a few times if he got anything important

He’s more than happy to help with the prep work for meals, just don’t ask him to actually cook anything. If it’s more complicated than instant ramen, he’s just never been that great at it. However... he very much knows how to prepare instant ramen in at least sixteen different ways!! THANK YOU COLLEGE!!

Everything is clean, but it’s like almost pulling teeth to get more out of him than that. Yeah, the laundry is done, but it’ll stay in the bin until he needs to do another load. Then it’s just dumping the last of the clean stuff on the bed (which at that point is honestly like, three shirts, a few pairs of socks, and two pairs of boxers), loading up the dirty clothes, then maybe shoving the stuff on the bed over to the side he doesn’t use much so he can try taking a power nap

It’s a bit of a hazard when you come home to find he’s got his headphones on XDDD yeah, he’s a really good dancer when he wants to be, but when he doesn’t care and it’s just about havin’ some fun, it’s like trying to avoid falling missiles on an active battlefield

Ok, let’s be real here, nobody is going hungry living with Portia Devorak. Absolute best chef out of everyone, and is totally cool with doing the food shopping and meal planning. It’s like living with a fuckin’ five-star chef when you live with her! ...just make sure she remembered to put her hair up before she gets going, or you might find a long, curly, red hair in your food

Tries to keep up with brushing Pepi, but it honestly tends to get away from her sometimes in the summer. Hope you don’t mind having cat hair on everything, cause it’s gonna be there no matter how attentive she is XDDD

Plants everywhere!! Roses on the dining table! Daisies by the front window! Begonias in the bathrooms! Carnations on the dressers! And succulents too! Get some of those adorable prickly boys and put them in some super cute hanging planters!!

Just about everything that’s hers has offensive cross-stitch on it (I will die on this hill XDDD)

Not super clean, but it’s not bad either. Like, she’ll still make sure it’s all clean, but she may go around another 2-3 weeks before feeling like it needs to be done all over again. It’s a lot of extra work on top of her job, so it’s gotta feel worth the loss of a perfectly good lazy day!

Right off the bat, the first day she moved in, her first priority was when you guys could have a fun movie night! And it had to have just, everything! Big, fluffy blankets, popcorn and snacks, a pile of 3-5 movies to start, candles, and of course some choice drinks! Ooh, or maybe milkshakes! Milkshakes? MILKSHAKES!!!

Like Julian, after signing the lease, it was hard to tell you even shared a space with someone at all. But after about a month you actually started seeing him around

The mail person has learned that they can just give your stuff to Inanna, and she’ll bring it back. Obviously it can sometimes have a bit of drool on it, but she’s such a good, considerate girl, and she doesn’t have opposable thumbs, so it’s okay!

Usually spends a lot of time in his room, but if his door is cracked, then it’s his way of saying you can come in for a while and talk if you want

Surprisingly decent cook! Nothing fancy, obviously, but usually whatever he decides to make is pretty good! Also always makes his own bread. It’s actually kind of hypnotic to watch... seeing him turn those ingredients to dough, all those muscles working it into the perfect consistency... WE WEREN’T STARING!! HONEST!! we were totally staring

The most chill roomie ever. There’s no crazy, sitcom antics when living with him, that’s for sure. At least, none that start with him... they usually end with him, but he’s almost never where they begin

You honestly can’t remember the last time you had to change a light bulb or replace a roll of toilet paper. It’s like anytime something like that may need to be done soon, it’s already taken care of! How he always knows is literally a mystery you don’t care about solving

Lucio 

You learned real quick that unless you do something drastic, like flushing the toilet in your bathroom, he’s gonna be using up all the hot water in those two-hour showers of his. Honestly it’s a shock he even has enough time in the day for anything when his whole morning routine can take almost all damn morning!!

Let’s be honest here, there’s almost nothing you could ever do to get Lucio Morgasson to take out the damn trash. Well... unless it’s after telling him you bet he couldn’t do it. Then it’s done loudly, and full of spite, with every action yelled so you know exactly when it happened. Don’t forget to make sure to cap it off with ‘well, you sure showed me’ when he gets back, or he might realize it actually wasn’t his idea

How does one person have so much makeup everywhere!? He doesn’t even use that color! Why is it almost gone and partially on the counter!? He has a combination of expensive soaps and Axe in his shower, but all you can ever smell is Axe!! DOES HE EVEN USE THE OTHER STUFF OR JUST BUY IT AND POUR SOME OUT!?

Always orders in for meals. At least it only took one near disaster for him to figure out he shouldn’t be cooking anything for anyone who doesn’t want to die

As cute as they are, he’s the only one who can’t stay mad at M&M when they chew up your shoes. Yup, even with those adorable faces and big, beautiful, mis-matched eyes of theirs. I mean, come on!! YOU CAN ONLY EXCUSE SO MANY PAIRS OF SHOES BECOMING CHEW TOYS!!!

Mick loves dirty fries and Terri is a fan of chicken curry

I imagine the two are probably retired. Mick used to be in a motorbike club, now we works repairs/restores on motorbikes of all kinds.

Mick likes restoring motorbikes and Terri enjoys guitar, she used to play it a lot in her younger years

🎯 -What do they do best?

Mick is naturally good with motorbikes, both fixing and riding them. He and his old biker friends used to get into a lot of exciting adventures when they began travelling, Mick is very good at retelling these tales in exaggerated detail to excited kids

Terri is good at keeping a logical head in the face of chaos, she's very calm under pressure and is good at organising. She's also gotten good at preparing drinks, practise from when she worked in a bar years ago. Her talents on the guitar aren't half bad either but she's not as good as Floyd

Mick loves biking, looking at vintage cars and football. He's not fond of crumbed fish, iced tea or cats

Terri loves guitar, cooking different curries, and whales. She's not fond of heights, Mick driving recklessly on his bike (especially when they where younger) or lightning

❤️ - What is one of your OC’s best memories?

Mick has loads from when he travelled with his biker friends, they got into a lot of fun schenanigans, especially when they where drunk. One of his fondest is probably the day he got Terri to ride with his on his motorbike for the first time (younger Terri was terrified of falling off)

Terri's fondest are from when her and Mick had Floyd and began to learn how to be a family. Floyd was a total surprise to them and Terri was very unprepared and scared, but the whole experience made her fall in love with Mick all over again

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

I can't really go into too much detail with this one and it spoils something in a future story titled Fever (follows the events of Terri and Mick meeting baby Animal sometime after the events of episode 3 of Muppets Mayhem)

However one memory that Terri also hates is when Mick fell off his motorbike and got badly hurt, the two had been dating for a short while and Mick ended up breaking his leg

I don't think I have the design anymore in my files but Mick originally didn't have long hair, his hair was slicked back, sorta like Danny from the Grease movie

For Terri she was inspired by Trixie from Bluey (who I also imagine her sounding like)

Terri is a female and I imagine her as straight, she didn't really know that much about LGBTQ+ stuff till Floyd told her about it when he and Teeth dated in their young adult years. Terri still gets confused on some things but she's a supporter

Mick and Terri are only children

Mick has a good bond with them, but he also has a found family sort of bond with his biker friends

Their dynamic in general, I spent ages chatting with my pal on Discord fleshing out their relationship before I started work on The Red Critter. They feel like they have one of the more grounded, stable relationships despite how they sometimes bicker

your optimism would be such a bright thing for Saeyoung. Saeyoung also tries his best to be optimistic and he also knows how sometimes youre being too optimistic to hide that youre struggling. Hed be able to recognize when your smile is a bit strained and reassure you that its okay to not always be happy and optimistic. no one is , and he and your friends wont tire of you for reaching out for help.

leverage ot3 late spring wedding day looks, as proposed by hardison, refined by parker, and then acquired by eliot and his wide assortment of contacts. (this post got fucking long af so read more to save us all.)

PARKER

our nb prince out here gonna start us fucking strong with a dark grey tits out suit number. the cut of the jacket is inspired by kirk's in search for spock. and by inspired i mean it is the same design only with slightly tighter cuffs and a belt that's more obi style without a buckle. the leather stripes on the sleeves definitely stay. while i fucking adore the gorgeous detailing of kirk's shirt collar, parker out here to kill so she ends up with a simple loose white blouse that has like two pearl buttons that are hidden by the belt.

ankle length pants that do not have kirk's puffs but again, the stitched detailing makes an appearance. these hems greet a pair of white fuck you jimmy choos.

she is parker so she does wear gorgeous (stolen by alec and eliot) waterfalls of pearls and diamonds around her neck and in her ears, but they make sure to include in the ceremony a moment where sophie takes off her (as well as the other two's) jewelry before entering the chuppah. the jewelry is reapplied during the yichud.

she wont wear a kippah exactly but a small cap fitted into her up-do with a veil. neat for symbolism sure but she doesn't get it as the "bride" (which she aint) but because she is very excited to wear one after sophie made them look cool wearing them for her funerals.

her nails are painted black.

nip slips miraculously only happen to be witnessed by the adults who either deserve to see it (maggie), appreciate the tease (tara), thrive off chaos (quinn), need to be made uncomfortable (sterling, who got an invitation with a note from eliot specifically saying he is already listed as nate and sophies plus one so hes gotta show), or all of the above (her intendeds).

ELIOT

alec was very tempted to put him in something absolutely flashy and intricate, but he's on a theme now and so he looks to a variation off mccoy's st: the motion picture semi-retired casual look. eliot's suit is not completely faithful: he aint wearing no onesie. but the jacket does come up short up his waist, but its sleeves are three-quarter to expose his sexy forearms. the pants are truly inspired (thanks parker): since eliot likes his damn pants so loose, they give him those fancy pants that balloon out in the legs and flow like a skirt, and whatever whatever i dont know if it would look good all together and on him, but nb!eliot (even before he realizes that's what he is) requires this, leave me alone. and for the party and dancing, since he is bound to get sweaty in the jacket, hes got kirk's fancy asymmetrical blouse parker couldnt make work for her, but it's now a white sleeveless joint.

eliot's suit is a lighter grey shade than parker's but of the same slightly blue hue, and im thinking it definitely needs to be an airy/flexible fabric like linen or flax. maybe all of theirs are, but i think eliot would def appreciate movement.

his hair is braided into an elaborate crown (thanks again parker, true mvp) with ribbons and silver beads. he has some loose curls at his temple jane austen style to really get hardison hot and bothered. for his kippah, they cheat a bit because it is also ringed with the same lace from parkers veil threaded through with a few diamonds and pearls that cannot be removed but eliot is their bestest score and needs pretty things so shhhh nana approves and that's all that matters.

in addition to the blinged out veiled kippah, eliot has got on diamond studs and his typical random assortment of bracelets plus some lux things parker supplies. there is also a leather wrist cuff he Does Not And Will Not take off, because it's the very special one parker and hardison got for him for their second anniversary, that has an inscription on the inside so it rests against his pulse. WE CHANGE TOGETHER it promises in parker's handwriting, then FOR ALL OUR DAYS in alec's.

eliot is wearing eyeliner.

HARDISON

this man out here after my own damn heart because he is gonna have a second lewk from st:tmp, his being spocks vixen in black look. except hardison shows up like a vision in white. his tight pants hug his long legs. for the top, he got this whole ass cape/vest with bellowing shoulderpads thing spock has on. i dont really know how to describe it other than hardison is totally peacocking in a lot of fabric. tho part of that is likely his clipped in tallit that can be easily removed for prosperity; his tallit gotta be big to shroud his two intendeds. the top (which does not have the vulcan embroidery, which was alecs choice even tho his partners would have been chill with it) is otherwise sleeveless.

i am in love with hardisons hair grown out a bit so that's what hes got up top. for a kippah, he has on the first one nana gave him: a simple blue that is worn threadbare at the edges and familiar and loved and color faded.

he has on a thick ass silver bracelet-cuff thing that is basically art that gives the impression of a solar system or constellation idk geek shit on his wrist. nails are painted white and he's got glittery eyeshadow because he's a fucking whole ass galaxy. he doesnt have dress shoes but like really nice desert boots and sparkly socks that also look like a constellation.

underneath hardison is wearing these gorgeous lacy briefs that feel like a fuckin dream and which, after the honeymoon, becomes the only kind he wears because parker keeps stealing his boxers to sleep in and eliot slowly slips in replacements during laundry days.

ALL THREE

they got their beautiful stolen unadorned rings that they rarely wear (it's a risky to have rings in their line of business, esp for eliot) but during the yichud they add on their private everyday commitments: necklaces one with a lock charm and the other with a key, and a recontextualized pick on a fancy new chain.

and most important of all, they wear their happiness, floating through the world with the most profound joy and love and tenderness embracing their every movement.

Some Favorite Fics from 2020

Like last year, I want to end 2020 by highlighting some fics that have become favorites over the last twelve months. Before I dive into it though, I just want to take a minute to send some love to all of the authors writing in this fandom.

As of the end of 2019, there were about 8.8 million words of fic on AO3 for this fandom. This year, more than 450 authors have added another 15 million more. That’s so incredibly impressive, especially in a year this difficult. Thank you, thank you, thank you to every single person who contributed to that, whether you wrote one fic or a hundred, a drabble or a novel. Thank you for giving this fandom the gift of your creativity and voice. Your work is so, so appreciated, and you’ve helped to create joy in a year where it was often in short supply. 💗💗💗

A Case of You by DoubleL27 • rated T • 6k+ patrick is an absolute menace in exactly the way you would expect every valentine’s day. it’s funny and sweet and ends with them in exactly the kind of future we all want for them

Dulce by another_Hero • rated T • 1k+ original characters can be hard to do right. they have to be compelling enough to fit in with these characters we already know so well, and dulce is the kind of character who grabs you from the start. the whole series is lovely, but this first interaction with ronnie is my favorite of them

Tea-Kettle Love by ArabellaStrange • rated G • 5k+ even though this coda to “the pitch” isn’t technically canon compliant now, it still feels a lot like it is. it’s about the sacrifices we are and aren’t willing to make for the people we love, taking the new york discussion into more depth than we get in the show and still arriving in largely the same place

Vanquished by Codswallop • rated G • 3k+ if you’re looking for soft, fluffy sickfic, this is not it, lol. patrick is sick here but won’t let anyone take care of him. he’s stubborn and basically minor chaos ensues. it’s funny and sweet but not schmaltzy. the characterization is 👌, and it feels like the kind of thing that fits perfectly into the world of the show

To Come Out the Other Side by unfolded73 • rated T • 4k+ • warning for major character death i don’t want to read sad things about david and patrick very often, but sometimes the mood strikes. this one is definitely sad right from the start, but there’s hope and resilience through grief, and i think this year especially, there’s something to be said for stories that can make you feel like there is still good to be found after the bad

Hold Me Like You’ll Never Let Me Go by moodlighting • rated T • 21k+ i never would have thought that a fic would make me WANT to be trapped in an airport, but it’s 2020 and anything is possible, lol. this is what meet cute dreams are made of

Your mother keeps a spreadsheet by upbeat • rated G • 3k+ obviously i love a good spreadsheet, so this one was up my alley from the start, lol. but really it’s moira and patrick bonding through the cataloguing of her wigs (and all the stories that go with them) that makes this one an easy favorite

keep me in the pulses, keep me in the sound by dinnfameron • rated G • 2k+ this sweet little slice of a summer vacation made me ache to be with friends. plus, sometimes you just need some overwhelmingly happy david rose. he deserves it, and so do we

eggs and the flour, no higher power by withkissesfour • rated T • 1k+ i’m pretty sure this fic is the definition of sweet, in more ways than one. it’s a short piece, but the writing is lush and indulgent in all the right places, just like the cakes being described

sustineo by rockinhamburger • rated E • 10k+ before i was even done reading this fic, i wanted another 50k words set in this universe. the conversation between david and patrick is sharp in all the right ways, and because this david has such a hard shell to crack after being hurt in such a horrible and heartbreaking way, it’s that much more satisfying watching patrick break through it

All-Natural Care, Locally Sourced by Siria • rated T • 2k+ siria’s fics are always funny, with banter that’s so perfectly on point, and that’s certainly true here. but there are also care packages and photos and just so much love. it’s a perfect balance, just like the show

hold on to me as you go by helvetica_upstart • rated T • 3k+ i love a good look at just how long patrick has been head over heels in love with david and how much he was in this for life all along. this fic does just that through the framework of times that they saw their new house before they bought it, and it’s everything that you would want that concept to be and more

Exposed Brick by swat117 • rated M • 9k+ this is such a lovely look at david and patrick a few years into their marriage, steady in all the right ways, even when old fears try to rise up between them. it gives david a chance to be the solid and supportive one in the relationship, something i never get tired of reading

We Could Turn the World to Gold by middyblue • rated T • 27k+ as someone who also did c25k at one point, i def empathize with david’s plight in this fic, lol. as much fun as that part of the story is, it’s really the house and everything related to that part of the story that makes this a favorite in my book. this was posted very early in s6, so it’s not the house from canon, but it’s beautiful either way to see them so excited about building their future together there

Waiting on the Day by High-Seas-Swan • rated E • 22k+ this is another fic that makes me absolutely ache for things i couldn’t have this year, namely my favorite local brewery and all the nights spent there with friends. beyond that, it’s just a very sweet AU, and the scene with their first kiss and the rest of that night live in my head rent free

Pot o’ Gold by ahurston • rated E • 22k+ where is the leprechaun/love of my life who’s gonna take me out to eat all of the best foods that my city has to offer? this one is a slow burn but their relationship is so much fun to read right from the start that you definitely don’t mind taking your time getting there. also, the palm reading scene. good grief.

there is no design by the_hodag • rated T • 12k+ this fic gives us a look at some of david’s art, and all the loneliness and love that inspires it. it’s poignant and painful and hopeful and sweet in turn, and i think it does a marvelous job of capturing so many of the facets of david’s past that have made him who he is

A Little Broken, A Little New by nameless_bliss • rated G • 3k+ i’ve read this fic several times now, and david and johnny having a conversation about their own relationship through the guise of talking about patrick and his parents never fails to make me cry

Une très bonne table dans sa catégorie by cromarty • rated T • 23k+ just the concept of this one alone would have sold me on it—like, hello? michelin reviewer and chef? sign me the fuck up—but it’s written with the kind of attention to detail i always expect from claire’s writing, and the fact that it practically starts with a first kiss but then pulls back makes for a delicious dynamic as they build a friendship over that foundational attraction, both tempering and intensifying the wait for them to find their way back into each others’ arms

happy golden days of yore by blueink3 • rated E • 17k+ i literally stopped in the middle of this fic, sat down on my kitchen floor, and had a good cry. i hate thinking about them ending up divorced in the first place, but even as exes, they’re so careful and gentle with one another and so, so clearly still in a forever kind of love. that makes it bearable to see them apart because even if it weren’t tagged for a happy ending, there’s such a feeling of inevitability to it, you know exactly how it’s going to end and just get to enjoy the devastating ride it takes to get there

Fifteen Hundred Miles by MoreHuman • rated M • 30k+ this is one of those fics where everything comes together just right and achieves a perfect balance of introspection and action, courage and fear, despair and hope, forthright honesty and cautious reservation... MoreHuman makes it all look easy, which says so much about all the care that had to have gone into the planning and writing. this fic does everything well, and it’s an absolute pleasure to read from start to end

840 Havenwood Road E by Distractivate • rated E • 10k+ we barely see david and patrick’s new house in the show, so it shouldn’t be possible for me to be as emotional about it as this fic makes me, every single time i read it. but it’s the home they chose, the place they decided to build a life together, and getting to see flashes of that life through the years and how much love they clearly had for each other within those four walls just makes me cry again and again

It REALLY annoys me when ppl single out Edelgard as the one who ‘needs the MC’.

Edelgard carries through her plan wether Byleth is there or not; She’s just less lonely, can do more stuff like she actually wants to, and may escape without dying in the process, but she was fine with being an unsung hero/dying for her goals & her goals are at least partially  accomplished (slitherers & Rhea removed from positions of power, more competent ruler); If she wanted to escape alive Dimitri & Claude would probably have let her go. But she got what she wanted & went out on her own terms.

 Likewise, Claude can survive everything and even  ‘win’ in both AM and CF. (what he wants is a more stable Fodlan, a ruler interested in peace with Almyra and to get the Alliance out as unscathed as possible, & he mostly gets that. Slightly less so in Silver Snow.) It’s just that in VW he is much more successful, he gets all the answers he wanted & was able to grow a bit less cynical. 

The one who really crashes & burns without Byleth there is Dimitri. He’s not really acting out of values or a plan but just reacting to his emotions & misguided sense of duty & only in Azure Moon does he get to a point where he is doing deliberate action that actually produce the results he wants/truly cares about. 

And don’t get me wrong: That is in part ‘cause the deck is really stacked against him both through the chaos in his country & his personal situation, and like, I get that it’s part of the appeal; AM is supposed to be an underdog story & a lot of the catharsis comes from finally giving the poor guy a break. (and Dedue, too! ...and Gilbert I guess but he’s not typically the one ppl are excited about) 

And i mean, needing/accepting help is only human. 

But like, maybe Edelgard has a few moments where she’s really glad to have someone to tell her doubts to,  and because she’s very self-critical once you get to know her & has kind of been in doubt about her own humanity since the procedures she’ll underestimate what she might’ve done on her own. 

But... have you even SEEN Claude’s support chain? It’s ALL gushing. In Dimitri’s case it’s more in the plot cutscenes, and veeery blushy too (as Dude!Byleth/Dimitri shippers correctly point out all the time) I’d say that Claude’s mindset is actually changed very profoundly. In Edelgard’s case she tries to convince/recruit you the whole time & you need to explicitly choose to join/back her (twice!) to even unlock her route. There isn’t actually a single scene where Edelgard wants to do some drastic thing & Byleth talks her down from it (unlike in Azure Moon which is filled to the brim with such scenes)... instead you get the A support where they’re both mutually jelly at each other’s stronger points. Besides in the dialogue there’s all this emphasis on how she’s finally found someone who measures up to her as an equal, they’re evenly matched in the SS reunion cutscene, she’d designed as an obvious foil/rival with similar powers/background & basic personality as Byleth etc... whereas with Dimitri you stay in the ‘mentor’ role the whole time.Uunless you marry him but then you’re defs the Big Spoon despite the actual sizes. (Claude meanwhile is explicitly the mastermind post timeskip; Byleth works for him & he’s trying to subtly bring them around to his more enlightened way of thinking & tip them off about Rhea)

So why is Edelgard singled out? Could it be... tits... XX chromosomes... nah, these days everyone knows that Gender is actually in your hypothalamus. Or is it just that phenomenon where ppl don’t want to see ppl they think of as enemy carricatures doing normal human things? Imma be charitable and assume it’s that. 

Corollary: Claude gets sort of the reverse treatment with ppl pidgeonholing him as “the always chill one” who “does fine on his own” & downplaying his arc in Verdant Wind. Granted, he’s the one who has living parents that were ostensibly positive influences, but he had a super fucked up life too & it affected him deeply as well. The man probably sleeps with a knife under his pillow, ppl. Like he plays a lot more defensively & opportunistic on the other routes, & laments not cracking the mysteries. He always had that hidden side to him that’s actually idealistic dreamy & even romantic but he doesn’t let that out until he grows to have more faith in VW.

first one that came to mind is frankie stein, she's three years old but i only started using her again in june.

or, well, "started using her again" is slightly an exaggeration, i got really into her for a few days and i haven't actually drawn her since asdlfjkdf. i want more villains so she is supposed to be all the most fun villain tropes - fucked up and evil just for the fun of it, highly theatrical, killer musical numbers, swarms of dumb henchmen with ridiculous names like steve and bill, mildly incompetent so she doesn't get as much done as a "real villain" and just sort of resorts to stabbing people... i mean she's def still a threat and has def killed a lot of people, but. she hasn't taken over the world yet 🤔 hmm.

i was developing her at the same time as the daltons so she was this [-] close to being part of that universe, here's some cut content for u: the group was actually part of tessa's past originally and i was toying with the idea of frankie killing one of them for more than a hot minute >:) but nah she doesn't fit the universe super well and i liked everybody too much

come to think of it, finch, audrey, and vanessa all probably qualify as “secret ocs” given i hardly draw any of them and they don’t even have th profiles unlike the above two. finch is dakota’s older brother and he and van are in a rock/punk band together, and audrey is van’s girlfriend. i know the band name and they have a playlist where i keep songs that remind me of what their music would sound like, but i wanna design the rest of the band before i actually draw anything for them. only problem is i don’t really have a story for them, they’re just an extension of another story :V mayhaps some day

Okay so Bobby moves to LA for a fresh start sometime after his family dies and opens up a shop that's a mix between a flower shop on one part and a store that sells organic produce that's all grown in the big garden behind the shop.

The first time Athena enters the store is on official police business. The law practice two doors down in the same block calls in for a noise complaint. Turns out, all of Bobby's chickens in the back that he has for fresh eggs ran out and was running all over the place causing chaos. Athena arrives and Bobby quickly hands her one of the chickens he caught so he can quickly get another. Let's just say their first meeting doesn't go quite well. Especially since Athena was already annoyed just got handed her divorce papers from Michael that day. But before she leaves, feeling bad, Bobby decides to give her a bouquet of flowers free of charge for thanking her to help. At first she refuses but then accepts when he gives Athena her favorite flowers with her having to tell him. "It's a gift." He says.

The next time she visits the shop, is after her best friend Hen has her new doctor's office next door after Athena had saw that the space was for lease the first time she was at the flower shop. She comes with May before visiting Hen so she can buy her flowers for her new office space. When May is delighted to see the natural flirtation between her mom and the florist as they banter back and forth about what would be the best flowers for an office building (her mom would debate with a florist about flowers) she decides to do some matchmaking. So she interrupts their conversation as May asks if they can hire Bobby to the flower arrangements for sweet sixteen that was coming up in about a month. "I didn't even know you wanted flower arrangements." Athena says, eyeing her daughter suspiciously. May shrugs. "Now I do."

Once they both accept, May then adds that she wants to make it really elaborate so she'd want to come over a lot to go over the different designs. When they agree, she then asks Athena that since she'd be busy with school if Athena could go over the designs with Bobby. She's suspicious of her daughter and is about to protest when Bobby adds that he wouldn't mind so she accepts. His employee, Buck, then quickly asks where is the party being held. "At my house." Athena answers rarely. "Perfect!" He exclaims but then clears his throat and explains that maybe Bobby should visit her house "for research purposes" to help him decide on which flowers would be the best "you know, for the aesthetic." Bobby gives him a looks that roughly translates to "cut it off" but Athena just smirks and agrees.

"You should exchange numbers to decide a date." May suggests with a bright smile. Athena rolls her eyes bc her daughter is many things but subtly is not one of them.

After they exchange numbers and make their plans, a few days later Bobby arrives to "survey the house's aesthetic". What Athena didn't know was that May had ordered food from her favorite restaurant which not only conveniently arrived just shortly after Bobby did, but had his favorite meal as well as Athena's. They both then admit that they knew were being set up and laugh about it both apologize for their kids obviously working together for trying to make it happen. Athena is honest and tells him that she's just gotten off from a divorce and tried a few dates but just wasn't ready. To which he tells her that he completely understands and feels the same way. "Divorce?" She asks. "No." He looks away. "Widowerer."

He gets a far away look in his eyes and after she says her condolences Athena tries to soothe the mood and offers for them to still eat the meal since it was there and their favorite meals. She offers for them to just have a nice, professional meal without having it to be anything.

They end up making out on the couch like a couple of teenagers. (After the delicious meal and a few glasses of wine).

But they then decide that they shouldn't go any further because they weren't ready and to just leave it at that.

The next time Bobby is at her house (after asking to drop by to see if the arrangements he had in mind would look good) they sleep together.

And so became the routine of saying that was just a one time thing and more bc they weren't ready and then coming up with an excuse to see each other again and hooking up like couple of horny teenagers.

A few days before May's party, Bobby tells Athena that he's not one of those people who can just continue to hook up with someone without any feelings attached. She tells him that she's sorry but she's just not ready for jump into a relationship again so soon, to which he understands but is heartbroken all the same.

But ever since then, Athena feels an ache in her chest but tries to ignore it. When May's birthday comes along and they're getting ready for the party, Buck arrives with all of the flowers. Athena feel an ache in her chest that she hadn't ever felt with Michael at Bobby's absence. Noticing her mood shift, Michael talks to her and tells Athena that May told her about Bobby (who May had also seen quite a few times since they first met). He tells her that she is allowed to try to find happiness for herself, which help makes Athena decide that she's gonna give it a shot with Bobby, if it's not too late.

Noticing this, May tells her that they have time before the party so she expects her to "go your man" and come back with Bobby in tow because she really wants him to be there.

And so, with pure determination, Athena asks Buck to take her back to the flower shop, to which he happily complies.

When they arrive at the shop, Bobby is surprised to see Athena there but she tells him that she wants to give it a real try, if he'll have her. After he asks if she's sure, not wanting to rush her into anything she wasn't ready for. She smiles and says yes, asking if he's ready as well. As an answer, he proceeds to rush in to kiss her like there's no tomorrow.

Afterwards, both Bobby and Buck go to May's party and Athena and Bobby officially start the beginning of their second shot at a happily ever after.

[ oikawa + dating an s/o with chronic illness & pain ] 

anon: hello! i know this is a bit out of the ordinary & you absolutely don't have to if you don't want to, but would you be willing to write some ushijima/hinata/oikawa/atsumu [these are just options you def don't have to do all of them] with a s/o that has chronic illness & pain?

a/n: hiiii !! okay so i did some research on living with chronic illness and pain (mostly watching youtube videos for a visual) because i don’t want to misrepresent anything. i do hope that i do this well and please let me know if there are any parts that i should fix !! also, added the little detail of oikawa being a doctor who fan because i feel like he is one

just for clarification, since there are different kinds of chronic illnesses out there, y/n has EDS (ehlers-danlos syndrome)

oikawa had been your childhood friend since forever and the two of you were also neighbors

ever since you were young, he often noticed that you were always ‘clumsy’ and somehow getting into all sorts of accidents. you two would be walking and your ankles would suddenly give way and you’d end up falling

along with that, you were terrible at sports and always tired out and ached all over even after one PE session. the two of you just assumed you were just not the active type 

whenever oikawa and iwaizumi were playing volleyball, you were always sitting from a distance cheering the both of them on although he sometimes felt bad that you couldn’t join in so he’d invite you inside to watch shows with him 

the two of you bonded over doctor who and would watch hours of it on end. oikawa’s definitely a nerd and loves gushing to you about the show and seeing you enjoy it

you and oikawa definitely grew closer over the years and he began to see you as someone who was more than a friend. in your second year of high school, he finally asked if you would like to date him (definitely did the whole ‘would you be the companion to my doctor?’ whole thing because he’s a nerd

of course you were happy because you thought oikawa just saw you as a friend. a lot of your dates consisted of doing stuff at home and the occasional cafe visit

as you grew older, your symptoms became way more apparent and obvious to you as ‘not normal’ but it was oikawa who took them more seriously compared to other people

it became so common for a shoulder to dislocate and at one point you even had to wear knee braces to help you walk. you were also constantly feeling tired or nauseous

he helped you with convincing your parents to talk to a doctor and of course it took a whole lot of visits before they were finally able to diagnose you with EDS

of course oikawa has already started researching on your condition as much as possible. he definitely wishes that he helped you and convinced your family much earlier on

at first, it was hard for you manage all your medications, especially the ones for your blood pressure and pain, but oikawa helped you a lot. the two of you once spent about an hour sorting your meds into a pill organizer

he also has alarms on his phone to help remind you when to take your medications

in the mornings, he likes to give you a good morning call to wake you up and keep you company after blood pressure spikes up and while you wait for your medications to kick in 

knows you need a bit of help in the morning going through your routine so sometimes he comes over to your house to help you. he’s VERY meticulous about washing his hands

oikawa did a bit of research on how to manage your fingers constantly dislocating so he bought you some finger splints and a thumb brace

he thinks they look cool on your fingers and even suggested that you put blades on them 

you: why would i put blades on my finger splints? 

oikawa: you know, for the people who say you’re overreacting

you: oHOOOO

ok but i don’t think you can they might cut your own fingers

he also got you a thumb brace but he got it designed with a moon and stars pattern so it looks pretty

things of course got a bit more difficult when your condition started to affect your gastro-intestinal system and you had to start using a feeding tube 

you couldn’t eat food like normal anymore and being in school was more difficult since you basically ate by injecting nutrients in through your tube

whenever he heard anyone whispering about you in school, if they said anything at all about you overreacting, oikawa would quickly shut them down because they had no idea what you were going through

one time he had the bright idea of cheering you up by sticking a picture of himself on your IV pole for you to look at whenever you feel sad

he looked SO PROUD when he showed you and you took one look at the oikawa IV pole and just went ‘what makes you think i want to see you staring at me while i inject my nutrients?’

oikawa: i thought :( it would make you feel better :(

you: maybe if it was a picture of david tennant...

oikawa: wow, was david tennant the one who popped your shoulder into place earlier? NO

when class picture day comes along, oikawa could tell that you were insecure about having to take your picture with your feeding tube in plain sight 

he sits beside you while you do your make-up and even helps out with fixing your hair when you feel too tired. all too help you feel like your best self

and THEN, he surprises you with a feeding tube sticker that’s in the shape of saturn. he even has a temporary tattoo that’s in the shape of an alien

oikawa: it’s so that we’re matching, y/n! 

it makes you feel a bit better knowing that you and your boyfriend are matching and oikawa’s super careful sticking the tape on your feeding tube and cheek

and the two of you take a whole bunch of selfies before your picture with your faces pressed together, showing the matching space icons on your cheeks

so i’m tall, and relatively large- i have dark purple/burgundy hair in a shaggy mullet with an undercut. i come up with crazy ideas and shit but i almost never go thru with them bc i get a n x i o u s- anyway i love rock and punk such as dead kennedys, mötley crue, def leppard, the ramones, ect and goth/alternative such as the cure, joy division, bauhaus, sisters of mercy, and souxie sxioux and the banshees (i have the brain capacity of a seagull so my apologies if i misspelt that). i love small tattoos, and stretch ears. i am german, french, irish and scottish, hawaiian/other pacific islander that i don’t wanna mention all of them and jewish! i don’t think i needed to include that but i’m proud of my heritage and i thought maybe it would be useful sjfjsjfnks. i can go from moments of batshit like licking chargers, eating lotion, sand and paint, and lighting things on fire and “i wanna live in a big city and cause chaos and make others fear me” to “i wanna live in a small cottage in the rolling hills of scotland and raise sheep and have 3 cats named rat, tat, and tatta” i love painting, and i have multiple articles of clothing that i have painted and drawn on, as well as cut, but i cant sow for the life of me. i also wanna have a small apartment somewhere but travel the world in a van. yeah- i think that’s about it- sorry this was so long KFJDBFJDNFJFMJ

For when you get into the classic goth mood, the atmosphere it creates and his company can turn the moment into a romantic event.

He shares your fascination for corporal modifications, so he will speak with you about some cool tattoos he saw in some random guy's arm at the boardwalk or this idea he has for a tattoo that he swears would look incredible. If you wanted to get one done for yourself, he will help you out selecting or designing the concept and will be by your side at the moment of getting it done. You could get a tattoo of an ordinary happy face and he would tell you it creates a super tough and dangerous aspect.

Ok, this is more a headcannon of mine, but I believe Marko to be Jewish too! So you will have him pronouncing B'shert very often.

Now, oh Lord, I wish I could tell you he is going to protect you from catching an infection, but truth is, there's no voice of reason in a pair like this. The worst part is, you two compete to see who can endure eating more sand. I'm not sure who would win this one.

Ah!, almost forgot, Paul had to buy a fire extinguisher because now he has two pyromaniacs in their prime to worry about.

First off, those are now top on my list "best names for your domestic rats" lmao. Second, this guy follows the game. I mean, the only friends he has besides the boys are his pigeons, and I bet my left arm one of them it's named Rambo.

Yes, this is sweet. He has this DIY fascination too, so for date ideas you two get together with a bunch of clothes ready to be modified. Like kids in kindergarten, you two end up with paint all over your faces, but the final product is worth it, tho. Because you two can express your distinctive styles with your brand new shirts and jeans. Cut wounds will be involved in this too.
