baddddddd. he's giving pomme first pick of their dungeon loot rn. he's so NICE. not just to the eggs but in general (i am always thinking of those elegant letters). but the eggs are the only ones who he will quickly and easily show vulnerability to. with everyone else it's like there's a layer there, a wall of silliness he keeps up on purpose, but it just. isn't there with the eggs.

there's something about the way that he cares that I can't put into words. like he cares so much. so fucking intensely. look at dapper. look how kitted out that egg is. look at how much time bbh has spent with the eggs, and look at how much time and effort he puts into figuring out how to keep them safe. he goes HAM when it comes to caring for the eggs, but it comes so naturally to him. it feels like caring for people with his whole entire soul is his default, but he doesn't want it to be. or, maybe want play a part in it- maybe it's too dangerous to care so much so quickly. maybe that puts other people he loves at risk. maybe it scares people. but that wall between him and other people is one that he built, and it's bbh, so he built it strong, so even when he's surrounded by people who have proven over and over that they care for him (that they care for the eggs, that they will not hurt them), he can't fully believe it.

im just. bad knows foolish so well. he knows that man wouldnt on purpose kill any eggs. but pomme killed foolish and bbh, dying of laughter, having the time of his life, told her to "put your armour on. just in case."

#i am putting him under a microscope and studying him carefully #i didn't used to be a big bbh watcher but now im obsessed with that little freak #qsmp #something about his relationship with foolish feels like a twisting of that care too tbh #like he would Not be fucking around with foolish so much if they didn't get along so well #but it has the same intensity #its like instead of a wall between him and foosh there's a cellophane tarp covered in silly colours that keeps getting twisted and rung out #and they use it like a string for those can phones #like with players that wall or layer can be warped into something extra silly but it's just Not There in the same way with the eggs #even with richas who torments him especially like foolish does #idk im also thinking about earlier today when bad was like 'yeah you can shoot me :D' to pomme #and the way his qsmp fighting style is eating totem after totem after totem to essentially sacrifice his own well-being for the people f #he loves #idk if im even making sense anymore and the pomme thing happened a while ago now lmao #but he's absolutely fascinating as a character #i need to figure out a fun fic concept to stick him to i need to put him in situations

It still amazes me the number of people who see the juxtaposition between Nami and Usopp during Wano and their fight against Ulti as "Nami's devotion to Luffy is unmatched, unlike Usopp's" when she isn't able to say he won't be the king of the pirates but Usopp is telling her to lie.

I think most people don't have in mind, either, that Usopp isn't the one being directly asked. He is looking out for Nami and begging her to lie to keep her alive because he is scared to death they might lose her for something as insignificant as lying. For him, lying is a form of survival and it is not that big of a deal because he trusts Luffy enough to tell Nami to lie about her feelings. It is something that will only stay between them because he knows it is better to lie than to die and Luffy would want it that way too.

And that doesn't mean he isn't loyal to Luffy or his dream. He is just looking out for Nami's safety. And as I said-- He isn't being asked directly, either. It is easier to tell others to lie about something of the sort than to do it yourself, and if the roles were reversed I personally think he'd have the most awful of times with it too.

Nami refuses to say Luffy won't become the king of the pirates because for her, even if lying has gotten her out of messes, she puts her trust and loyalty in Luffy before her own instincts of survival because lying is what got her to push them away when they first met and this is the one thing she can't lie about because it would hurt more than death.

Then again, I think she would do the same exact thing Usopp did if she wasn't being the one asked. It is the whole point of the scene, actually. They both know the most rational thing is to lie so the one witnessing the scene will always be cold-headed about it, but the one having to lie is the one suffering the bitter realization of how lying about this and saying it out loud is way harder than it seems from an outsider's perspective.

So I am tired of seeing people criticizing Usopp for his decision during the fight against Ulti as if it were that easy for him to see Nami being about to get killed if she doesn't lie. Sorry for the guy to actually want to protect the people he loves instead of letting her be reckless and basically kill herself freely for telling a truth even Luffy would tell her to lie about if it meant living.

#i am very intense about this scene actually #and usopp haters are so annoying when it comes to this #as if nami wouldn't have done the same if the roles were reversed #they're often on the same page when it comes to survival except for this one time and i think it's because they're not on the same situatio #and also i think nami has a harder time verbalizing these things because she is very vocal abt her trust in luffy #but usopp's trust in luffy is something they know for a fact and he knows that lying wouldn't change that #but i think too that he would've done the same as nami in her situation #and even if he hadn't. he is way more logical when it comes to these things than her #nami makes her beliefs visible and loud while usopp keeps them to himself mostly and i think she needs to say it out loud for it to be real #while for usopp lying is just surface level of believing in something when he trusts his own feelings enough #YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN??? i am not crazy #anyway usopp haters i don't like you you're the weakest link and nami would hate you #one piece #usopp #cat burglar nami #wano arc

I have a hc that post beating the crap out of his CO but prior to being demoted back to corporal, wash spent like a week as an ODST drill sergeant as a 'punishment' until the higher ups finished their investigation, and that's the only real experience training others he has going into chorus.

so basically, wash tortured tucker and the combined armies of chorus with the brutal training used to root out the people who couldn't make the cut as an ODST, which only makes the scene where the kids jump grif even funnier than it already is.

#he was waaaaay nicer to the chorus kids than he was to people who were actually trying to be ODSTs btw #he was still putting them through the absolute ringer though lol #rvb #red vs blue #agent washington #i like to think kimball and doyle casually bring up the intensity of the training in conversation at some point #and sarge overhears and just goes 'hehe I remember when i went through ODST training. this has nothing on those three hellish weeks'#and he has to explain what an ODST is #and they're like 😬 but the kids like wash and they trust him to do a good job based on the words of the bgc #but at the same time they're like 'oh this may have been a bit of a mistake'#but then they realize their only other option is carolina and they're like 'you know what nvm'

"thomas got no character development" maybe. or maybe the moral of his story is that it's irresponsible and unhealthy to attempt to completely deprive yourself of your feelings and much more productive to accept them as part of yourself and move on with your life from there. trying to go cold turkey on alison and then randomly picking another person to have a crush on only for it not to work is something we've seen thomas do before, which for some reason people decide to see as boring repetition rather than consistent characterization. but after that. did you miss the part where he stopped talking when she walked away, realized along with everyone else when fanny said "we're as bad as betty" and voted to go through with the proposal for alison to leave? did you miss the part where he happily waved her and her living family goodbye? did you miss the part where alison, old and gray, came back and mirthfully said "thomas, you flatter me" like. his passion for people and obsession with the idea of love wasn't gonna just go away. but he's learning to treat her with more respect, he didn't throw a tantrum or follow her around or go drown himself in the lake. just because he's not a completely different character doesn't mean there wasn't growth. watch season 1 episode 2 thomas say "divorce him, kill yourself, marry me" and then watch the christmas special again and tell me there was no development. come on now.
