Okay so I know I was lobbying hard for Rex showing up, but at some point I got why he didn’t. This was about the batch. It was about the poetry of them stepping up into their natural roles and solving the problem themselves and I loved that.

Also, as most of you know, I was very strongly pro team Tech is alive and I don’t know how to feel now that we didn’t get a reveal. I’m thinking if we get another show maybe he might still come back but my optimism is a little,,, depleted.

Also I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that Tarkin reverts funds from Necromancer to Stardust AKA the Death Star. Like yeah, let’s forget about eternal life and focus on big floaty ball.

I just thought that was funny.

Also Crosshair saying that clone force 99 died with Tech. In a way that’s very true. They weren’t the same squad after that and they never will be. After that loss something was kicked loose in Hunter, I think. He was more sure than ever that he wanted to be a family before he wanted to be a squad. And in the end that’s what they got. There’s a bitter sweet poetic beauty in that I think.

Ugh honestly I think I need to sit in this for a while and process it because I’m a little,,, idk it was a lot. Like it was great but it was so much yanno? I’m kinda sad that the gap between Rex forming the rebellion and leaving the fight wasn’t filled yet, but I’m hopeful we get another show or short or something that fills it still, because honestly he’s earned it. Idk I’m all over the place. I will repeat, again, that the writing was amazing. The dialogue, the action, the everything really. It was incredible.

Reading ORV felt like I found a beautiful gem at first but it actually was not really a gem. It became a warmth that quietly, slowly but surely seeped through the little cracks in my head and filled holes I didn't even know existed. Or maybe I knew but I covered my own eyes.

It continued on further and further down until it found the me who kept hiding out of fear. And it grabbed her by the shoulders like it was always meant to happen and it said "Live. Please live. You will survive. For your sake and for others, please live. Please keep believing and holding on no matter what. I promise you, you're not alone, you never were."

It's terrifying to realise that the one thing you thought would always hold true, which is that you are hopeless, is actually wrong. There's some sick sense of comfort to sabotaging yourself and seeing confirmation after confirmation that you are indeed hopeless. But then something comes to you like a slap and like a hug (ORV for me) and shoves a mirror right under your nose and you're like "I didn't actually totally give up... Oh fuck." And that changes A LOT in a very sneaky way.

And now here I am. I've been thinking hard lately as usual but not about the usual very negative things. And I think I might be able to take a first step and reach out. Jesus fucking Christ it's terrifying, there's a shit ton of things that I have to fix. Oh wow. Okay. Well, I don't have to fix it all right now right now, I can take it slow or something. Right ? Better late than never. So yeah.

I think some people miss the fact that the Phantom Thieves are playing right into Yaldabaoth's hands when they change people's hearts. They're basically proving that people need someone else to act for them and that people aren't willing to solve their own problems. Just look at how they end up sending their targets back into the depths of Mementos.

Don't get me wrong, the Thieves are doing good by freeing people from Yaldy's control and from their selfish distorted desires (which are just another form of control), but they are also showing that people are unwilling to free themselves from Yaldy's control on their own. When people don't free themselves, they only end up being imprisoned even further by society. That's why all the morally redeemable characters in the game change their own hearts, and that's why the Bad Ending is Akira deciding to keep society just as it is under Yaldy's control, with the Phantom Thieves as heroes who continue to change the hearts of individuals, but society as a whole is kept stagnant for eternity.

This is also why the public's support for the Thieves is so important in the final battle. Without their support, the Thieves couldn't have defeated Yaldy, because the public needed to show that they wanted their hearts changed, that they didn't want to be controlled after all. They all needed to show a will of rebellion against their oppressor or the Phantom Thieves would have just become the same thing Yaldabaoth was doing by removing their free will. Prior to fighting Yaldy the PT don't respect the agency of their targets, and they solve other people's problems without thinking about how that might affect the person they're saving. By defeating Yaldabaoth, they let go of that power and give control back to the individuals of society so they can start to change their own lives again. The public shouldn't and can't rely on Yaldabaoth to solve their problems, and they shouldn't and can't rely on the Phantom Thieves to solve their problems either.

And again, don't get me wrong, Persona 5 says that it is good and even necessary to get help from others, but if you really want to improve your life you need to act for yourself. If society is going to improve people need to take destiny into their own hands. Persona 5 is about finding hope even in the darkest circumstances by forging connections with other people and refusing to let society crush you under its heel. But the key to this all is that you must choose to fight against the cruelties of society, even if it seems impossible. Hope for change can be seen by finding belonging with others and working together to change society for the better. In the words of Morgana:

"Even if you feel that only darkness lies ahead...as long as you hold hands together...see it through as one...the world will never end!"

Ok not gonna lie, I'm kinda downed after Ahsoka finale, it was mmm unsatisfying in many plot moments to me personally (even a cliffhanger is not as satisfying as it should be)

It's still beautiful show, filmed with great skill and devotion (ah, music, acting, sets, designs are dope) but main plot kinda crumbles on itself in key points (Sabine-Ahsoka relationships, only glimpse of Baylan's motivation, lack of some keystones of pesonal relationships even!). To me, Dave Filoni's Star Wars was always about plot and characters, nuances of their relationships in the first place and I kinda lost it here.

I want to think that it was just first experience as live action director and further season will not be "disneyfied". I want to believe.

i love my teenage/early 20s self but i wish she had picked more descriptive titles for her mix cds. i'm supplying the music for a roadtrip with my mom and i need to know what kind of songs to expect on mixes with such titles as "The third of July", "Sleepless.", "driving around money", and three that are just called "Seattle WA No. 1, 2, 3". the only ones i can venture a guess on are called "Modes of Transportation Parts One and Two"...pretty sure those are just songs about trains, planes, automobiles, etc. annoyingly, teenage me did not annotate any of these with notes like "mom would probably hate this" or "wow! this would be awkward to listen to with someone in my immediate family!"

.......you guys do know you have to realize that people's own, personal self hatred isn't about you, right? like, yeah, seeing someone vent about a trait they have that they hate about themselves that you also have might also make you feel bad, but their personal feelings of self hatred have nothing to do with you, and ultimately your feelings are something you are going to have to deal with yourself. i'm really not a fan of all these guilt trippy posts coming out of the woodwork about how people disliking themselves makes you feel bad so they're not allowed to talk about it, like, what the fuck are you trying to do, shame them out of self hatred? i mean, for fuck's sake, how the hell is that supposed to help them??

(and before anyone asks, i'm not defending people who go on other people's posts and randomly traumadump about how much they hate themselves on unrelated and/or positive posts, that shit's weird and unhealthy and i think people have every right to be uncomfortable with that. i'm just saying people are allowed to vent about how they feel about themselves in their own posts or whatever else, even if it makes you uncomfortable, and you shouldn't be taking a stranger's insecurities so damn personally. it's fucking weird, man.)
