So I just learned the Nanbaka ending. Safe to say that it was not what i expected and I wanna talk about it :,)

Warning to the many people who have not been able to make it past chapter 192 or only watched the anime, the majority of what i know is from TikTok's, the comments of the vids and what i've pulled together by myself and what i've seen on Pinterest. Plus, despite my like for the series, I don't know much, its been a few years since I've done anything with the series , there is a cut off point with the manga and even then i don't know if it was in any particular order.

When i first started the series, I felt like i had a good idea of where the series was going. Like as the series would progress, we learn the pasts and motivations of the main cast, like Uno, Rock, Nico and the others, while seeing Jyugo learn about the shackles and the man on the scar. Then at the end, some shenanigans results in our main cast of idiotic prisoners being released early or finishing off their sentences in around a year or two. but because they either grew attached to the prison or liked the perks of working there (annoying Hajime, anime and food), they decide to go back and become guards of building 13. With Jyugo possibly doing something like this each day.

But that didn't happen. Instead we get something a lot more different than what I originally imagined.

In the end of the series, we learn a lot about Jyugo's backstory, how he and the boys first me and more about the man who shackled him. As it turns out, Jyugo was never friends with Uno, Rock and Nico. They met him but they weren't friends, I think. Initally, I didn't think that he even met them before the start of the series until finding some of the fan translated pics of the manga on Pinterest (Search Nanmaka manga ending Jyugo and you should find something, just find one and keep on scrolling). All the memories that Jyugo had with them were fake ones that were inputted by the clone of the man with the scar/his biological grandfather, i.e. this guy, Hiiro, I think is his name. Hiiro with black hair, scar guy with white guy down here 👇

I'm not entirely clear on what they were planning initially but Hiiro was the one who inputted the memories and orchestrated him going to Namba and becoming friends with the three, who possibly have at least met them individually at tone point. From what I am aware, Jyugo was the clone of Mashiro Mutsuki's (Scar man), grandson who alongside his daughter's, Touko, Jyugo's mother. She died while she was pregnant with Jyugo and Mashiro kept her body so that she could be cloned and give birth to Jyugo.

There were bit and pieces of Jyugo's childhood, with him and Hiiro. And Jyugo was nothing like how he was during the series. He was serious, had no general emotions and all that and i think his clone body was falling apart or he was sort of shapeshifting. He only became somewhat normal and acts similar to how he does to the series when he put the shackles on.

But the shackles had another function and it was to repress his memories and powers. Specifically his memories with Hiiro, the scar man and what his friends did to him. Uno, Nico and Rock were brought in to teach Jyugo how to live in order to be released from prison and gain their freedom. And kill him some time before the series started. This was part of Hiiro’s plan but I’m not too sure about his reasoning. They did that, and when the shackles are gone we see the evidence of it on Jyugo's neck.

All this makes looking back on previous adventures quite differently. In short they were never his friends for a time but did grow close in the time afterwards and began to feel guilt for what they did to him. They eventually come to talk to Jyugo about it and apologise but at this point, it was too late. Jyugo remembers everything when the shackles break and is practically reverted to his previous state. And it leads to a bitter confrontation that leaves the three shaken. As seen below 👇

I'm not sure to what degree of involvement Nanba Prison and the staff there had. By all accounts, its seems that Hajime and the other guards were just as or even more in the dark than Jyugo. Upon finding him, Hajime treats him like he's always has.

The only moderately positive thing and relatively Jyugo related thing that the reverted Jyugo does is that he has a brief interaction with Hajime’s cat who he says goodbye to.

In the end, Jyugo disappeared from the prison with a splatter of blood left behind, leaving apparently with his grandfather. Then that's it. A very WTF kind of ending for a comedic series. It...honestly not what i expected. Beautiful art stuff, yes. WTF moments, yes. Hilarity, yes. A very bitter ending with barely any sweetness in it…neat.

okay so here's my summary of ibushi's latest 2 videos (here and here) from his youtube channel

pls make sure to read this at your own discretion. it's honest, but not exactly cheerful.

this summary is not entirely chronological; i've grouped some points together for cohesion

the vids were taken about 2 weeks after marufuji vs ibushi was announced, so around 12/17 ish (i'm just bringing this up bc i saw some confusion bc ibushi was reported by noah to be in the us rn until at least the 27th)

ibushi starts out the 1st vid by saying how completely different american and japanese wrestling are; the example he uses are cheers, [in aew] whenver anyone makes their entrance the crowd is chanting their name

in japan it has a different quality to it; [i assume he's talking about coming out at the noah show to challenge marufuji here] it's strange to him when he can only hear his theme and there's neither boos nor cheers, but he was glad it got a reaction

as for how he's doing physically: says he'll be frank: his left ankle and the back of his right hand (there's a visible dent on one side of the back of his hand and he says he doesn't have much grip strength there but for powerbombs and germans he grabs his wrist with his left hand so he can still do those) are fractured and his shoulder isn't healed cause he never got surgery for it

the ankle is the worst out of the 3, he can't jump or do highflying and walking 400 m (0.25 miles) is his limit, even walking around everyday is pretty rough

he's been able to benchpress 88 lbs now, with 200 as a one time thing, but he can't do much actual wrestling match practice, worries about what he can do; sums it up as that physically things aren't really on the up and up at all

but he believes marufuji is going through the same thing [being hurt in a lot of different places] and that the match won't be bad because of that; he believes it will be good precisely bc of the shape they are in, the injuries they've sustained

as he's said in the past, he doesn't care about what place he is on the card even tho ppl care a lot about match order, but he has the opportunity of being in the main with marufuji, so [he'll make the most out of it]

the ring remains a place for him to express himself, unable to highfly or injured as he may be, that's part of it too

he could go out there and be like "no i'm recovering i'm practicing hard everything's going swell" but that wouldn't change the fact that it's not true

he's doing what he can do get better, but operating within the limits of his body and how he can workout

even so, he won't give up and expresses confidence, [he seems motivated for the match and to go through with all of this], he's been doing this for 20 years and nothing scares him anymore

he says his instinct/6th sense for wrestling isn't as sharp [anymore] either since he doesn't really wrestle outside of aew these days, and again japanese and american wrestling are completely different and he's matching himself to wherever he wrestles, so he will do the same for the noah match

as long as it's getting a reaction out of ppl, he's happy; as long as he's getting something out of it he's happy, there's no right or wrong here for him

he's not nervous for the match at all, just hopes he can put himself out there in his purest form, so that ppl can decide for themselves what it is he represents for them/how they experience them

the video ends with him saying that he doesn't wanna be gloom, but if something unfortunate happens [i interpret this to mean another injury] this will be his last [match]

[he also then says make sure to watch his matches (since you won't know which one will be the last), and while i don't think he's lying with the sentiment here at all, my suggestion would be to take this as it is for now but not despair too hard about it]

the 2nd vid is mostly a recap of him seconding a kickboxer he trains for his match at korakuen hall on 12/17, interspliced with more footage from ibushi talking in the secret base

just as the fictitious "ibushi pro wrestling research institute" represents his status as a freelancer and a means by which he express himself in his purest form to ppl, it's also a means by which he can take on ppl under his wing

[ibushi has talked on twitter before how he has several trainees who are former/current kickboxers or MMA fighters wishing to become pro wrestlers] he thinks more of them will make their debut in the future; he's not doing this to boast that he's the one training them, it just naturally happened this way

even tho the ipwri is not actually a promotion, [ppl he's training and ibushi himself] get announced/lower third-ed as being from there, so it has established itself in the world

[there's a backstage scene here of ibushi talking to machida (machida lost the match) and altho there isn't much to tl (it's just ibushi basically giving him a pep talk), i still think it's worth checking out, it's very sweet]

lastly he says the institute is taking applications and as long as your feelings/motivations come across, he's happy to read them, even tho there are already too many ppl showing interest rn

A Babys Space Halloween

After leaving Navarro behind to begin to look for the child's people ( even if you didnt want to give him up). you had been traveling with din since tattooine. he trusted you to look after the child and be able to fight..... even if he didn't quite like it. but thats not the point.

it was nearing the time of year at your home planet where Halloween is taking place, pumpkins being painted or cut into jack-o-lanterns to glow in the dark of night. children and adults dressing up as characters or just dressing up in general. a time of candy and fun. it was something you missed the most of your home. and looking at your small son you wanted him to partake in this tradition as well, for as long as you had him for. and you knew you had the perfect costume for the little one. you just had to convince your riduur to let you carve pumpkins and have them on the crest for a little bit.

as you walked up behind your riduur in the cockpit he turned around to look at you through his visor. you tilted your head and gave him a sweet smile that usually ended with you getting your way. “ My dear husband, I know you are not one to follow traditions outside of your own for holidays, ( excluding the times he's tried like for Christmas). But on my home planet around this time we have a day called Halloween. I wanna know if I can bring it on the crest?” You rested a hand on his pauldron.

he tilted his head more at to look at your face and tilt his head, even though you knew what he looked like he still found comfort in wearing his bucket so you never pressured him into removing it. He sighed “ and what are apart of these tradtions of yours” you squealed in excitement and rattled off the list of things you needed.

Din walked down the ramp to go gather materials needed for the ship and for you to decorate the hull of the crest. He promised to get back in three hours, which left you and the child to your own devices for a while. you looked at the child “ my little trouble maker do you want to help me with something?” He’s at your leg try to crawl up your pant leg. “I’ll take that as a yes”

You grabbed the youngling and grabbed some of the scrap pieces Din kept around the ship for emergency repairs. “Time to get to work on this costume”

A few hours later din is walking back to the ship with some pumpkin-like plants and he sees you have placed your lights back up in the Hull of the ship but these ones are purple, where you keep them he doesn't know. but he knows he hears you in the sleep area and has missed you and the child.

"hold on little one, I know he is back but you need to wait. One last finishing touch and you can show your Buir your little costume."

a few babbles can be heard from the kid as he responds to you

but a few moments later you came out from the area shielding the child from his view, you can almost feel your husband raise his eyebrow under the helmet.

you just gave him a small smile and dramatically spread your arms comically wide and said

"may I present to you the best bounty hunter in this parsec" The room door slides open

din felt his heart fill with warmth at the sight of the kid dressed like him..

grogu waddled up to his father and raised his arms

"alright cryika what next?" both of your boys look at you

" time to eat candy, stay up wayyyyyy to late and watch holo vids"

"thats it?"

'normally we would go door to door for candy, but i dont think you would be down to do that"

"alright.... which candy first"

the rest of the night was spent watching holovids and eating too mant sweets and cookies

A/N: this takes place right after Wards “death” in OBX2

Ward was dead. Our ears still ringing from watching from the yard. Sarah dropping to her knees. Rose holding Wheezie from inside the house so she doesn’t run out. Rafe standing next to me as his body was frozen.

We didn’t know what to do, but I was there for Rafe every second after. I made sure to get my emergency stash from my house. I made sure he ate. I made sure he got his anger out on me.

We spent most of the time in his room, high on cocaine and weed. Rafe didn’t sleep, he spent hours trying to figure out how he can be the man of the house.

A few mornings later, Rose woke up all of us. Ordering breakfast for us to eat as a family, a broken family. It’s nice that I’m considered family. I mean, I was friends with Sarah 15 years of my life, and now I’m with Rafe.

After breakfast, Rose sat us all down and brought out her computer so we can watch Wards goodbye vid. I held Rafe’s hand as he squeezed it tightly.

The video of Ward was heartbreaking. Leaving everyone in tears, mourning, and anger.

Sarah pushed her chair backwards, storming out of the house. Rose repeatedly yelled her name, Wheezie cried harder from the thought of Sarah never coming back. Rafe quickly and angrily followed behind her, I followed to make sure he doesn't hurt her again.

Sarah was on the road, walking with her bike at her side.

“Sarah!” I yelled, trying to get her attention but she just ignored.

Rafe yelled her name, but she ignored it again. I stopped him in his track, telling him that I can talk her out of it.

“Sarah, let me talk to you. Just me, no Rafe.” I jogged up behind her.

I felt like I was moving slow from my high still lingering from last night.

She stopped and waited for me to face her.

“Fuck. Look, you can’t leave your brother and sister during this time.” I told her, I tried to think of all the sincere words possible.

“He’s not my brother. He tried to fucking kill me, twice!” she began rolling her bike down the road again.

“O-Okay yeah. He tried to kill you. Sarah.”

She stopped again, annoyed flooded her face as I blocked her path.

“Sarah, he’s a good brother.” I muttered out.

“You’re fucking oblivious.”

“He’s trying his best.” I had to take long strides to catch up with her and her bike.

“Why won't you go back to your own family? Let us handle this.” she rolled her eyes.

“Stay here Sarah!” I let out with anger as I grabbed her forearm, holding her in place. I don’t know why I was doing this, usually I would never stand in the way of Sarah and her Pogues.

Rafe was walking towards us, taking long and fast strides.

“Let me go!” she pulled her arm away.

“What the fuck happened to you?” She tilted her head.

“Nothing happened to me Sar.” I rubbed at my temple.

“No, you wanna know what happened to you?”

I shrugged my shoulders telling her to carry on.

“You were my best friend. You let him manipulate you.” she harshly pointed her finger towards her brother. “You’re an addict just like Rafe. Get some help.” she scoffed.

My eyelids felt heavy, I could feel the stinging in my eyes. I could feel the air stuck in my throat.

“Hey!” Rafe jumped in front of her bike, holding the bike tight in his grip. “You’re going to apologize, then you’re going back inside. You hear me?”

“I am leaving.” she said sternly, pulling the bike handles away from Rafe.

“I’m trying to be better. O-Okay.” he followed Sarah as she walked.

“You almost killed me.”

“Shit. Fuck. I’m trying to be the man of the house.”

She ignored him.

“Do you hear yourself Rafe?” she yelled out with wide eyes. “You’re not dad, you will never be him!”

She quickly moved and hopped on her bike, peddling as fast she could.

Rafe moved his hand into his pockets, fumbling with the car keys.

“Let her go.” I held his wrist, stopping his movement. “She’ll comeback.”

I wiped my tears and let go of his wrist. I walked back into the house, leaving him on the street.

Once again I have been engulfed in the need to write something regarding the new episode “SMG4: The Inspection”. I kinda wrote this like a live commentary sooooo watching the vid and reading these silly notes might make this better but meh whatevs! I am writing this for fun anyways =w=

I wanna make an arg with a really stupid premise

Bear with me on this one

So here’s the deal, we start out with a person who legit is in their moms basement on the computer 24/7 who is stuck in the early 2000s mentally like they need to touch grass so bad. They despise anything that goes past 2015 except the pandemic. When the pandemic happened everyone began living like them, they weren’t really outcasted as much and all their online friends were on more often but when life began to continue again this is their breaking point everyone starts leaving them again, it was so much better when everyone was… homestuck.

Here’s where it starts going off the rails. This dude’s favorite thing in the whole wide world is homestuck, they went to all the conventions back in the day, all the meetups that kinda jazz. They love it so much that they want to try to make homestuck real. They catalog it all on the internet and at first it’s like cheesy, corny stuff like painting a symbol on their shirt, redesigning their room to be mostly white (even though their grody ass doesn’t know how to clean shit) but then things take a turn. They get a tips on their videos that start as a lil weird and ramps up to absolutely creepy with strange lil things like coordinates to a random place in the woods where someone ‘coincidentally’ dumped some of the stuff they needed, some ‘cash they had lying around’ given to the cause to a freezer of DUBIOUSLY OBTAINED TOTALLY NORMAL ANIMAL ORGANS THAT IS TOTALLY FINE. All the while there are their friends, family and random internet strangers are telling them something is CLEARLY WRONG HERE but the dude is so blinded by obsession, loneliness and the now renewed hope that this is possible that they continue with this and eventually they doom the world.

Of course this is just a rough outline and knowing my luck it’ll probably never even happen this is legit just in my unmediated ADD brain just having word vomit at the moment but I think I’d be funny and cool.

Also here’s just some of the ideas that are rattling around in my brain:

The person tries to get 12 people in on the world ending project, idk if they’ll get that many it’s probably gonna go from 12 fewer like 6,4 or maybe even just 2

Them trying to sell a disk to a bunch of 12 year olds, one doesn’t know what a disk is some think he’s a creep one of them thinks they have some mental issues (they absolutely do)

They get canceled on Twitter which ends in them going on a rant about how much they hate the modern day and it’s like a crusty YouTube vid with tears

The whole group of future sburb players on a Skype call or something going over how to play the game, some are legit just trolling the guy others help try to explain how the game works some are writing down notes some are having atrocious technical problems and then THEIR MOM WALKS IN

One dude gets in on the project just to troll and goof like legit is memeing about this on his account like “me to a wedding 👕 me to the sburb play through “ and all that shit and just watching the abject horror come upon them when they realize they just helped doom the world, all of their friends and family are gone and there was a chance they could have stopped this

Legit a kid who hasn’t read homestuck gets roped into this because they think it’s cool and doesn’t have any idea what is to come

A lot of people who need therapy

A lot of early 2000s and homestuck references

Close encounters with ‘trolls’

They try to choose people to play sburb based on their interests like if they have an interest that predates the end of homestuck that’ll be a choice pic, like furries, weebs etc. and their classpect, like you can’t have a session without a time and space aspect and they absolutely DO NOT WANT REPEATS everyone has to have an original classpect

Hey, I wanna babble about Kaidan and Zeeyla (my Asari Engineer in our ME5E ttrpg)! I've had fun playing with the 6 month interim between campaigns, and I feel like sharing their basic outline somewhere. 💜

They first saw each other outside Ambassador Anderson's office. Zeeyla's friend and crewmate is Alliance Commander Maria Florentino, who would often report back to Anderson. (They are not, however, an Alliance crew, and despite being registered as Alliance, their ship, The Victor, does not belong to the Alliance military. Zeeyla is Very Serious about this point and is glad that Maria holds the same stance.)

Kaidan was intrigued by the Asari and her fantastical drone (which looks like a winged darwinius in Bisexual jewel tones, with ultra-soft synthetic fur), and the melancholy in her pinged his protective streak. Zeeyla figured he recognized her from her extranet videos, and gave him an awkward wave with the plushie in her hand: a keeper. They were interrupted before they could talk.

(Her videos are a combination of educational sci-comm, hobby/personal rambles, and live accounts of their missions. Her videos and other social media posts often include a plushie along for the adventure.)

They actually met a little while later in the Wards, hit it off, and spent the rest of the day talking with each other. He complimented her by comparing something she said to Carl Sagan, and that's how he found out she's fascinated with first contact communications and the Golden Record in particular. They kept in contact, becoming the first person each wanted to talk to about things.

Neither of them was looking for a romantic relationship. Kaidan was focused on work and preparing for the reapers, and Zeeyla was disinterested in romance in general. After testing out the idea many decades ago, she came to the conclusion that it's just not for her. That doesn't stop Tali from teasing Kaidan: "You think I'd like her? Sounds like you like her!"

The Victor crew starts getting missions from Hackett rather than Anderson, and there's an attitude shift there. Anderson inspired loyalty. Hackett inspires ire.

I'm playing with the idea that several weeks later, they have overlapping visits to Arcturus, and Kaidan takes her to an exhibit on The Golden Record. Or possibly it's done via vid call while she's on Arcturus and he has some free time on Earth.

After that, she starts inadvertently, unconsciously being flirtatious with him. He tries to maintain platonic feelings, but they've both been falling hard without really realizing it.

When Zeeyla finds out the anniversary of Alchera is coming up, she insists on going to Earth to support him. She's been running errands for Hackett for months and she's taking time to do what she wants to do. Kaidan insists he'll be fine, but says he'd love to see her if she wants to come.

They initially have a few days together, just squeezing in visits around Kaidan's work schedule. They walk along the beach in Rio at lunchtime, eating street snacks and taking in the view. When they stop to watch the waves, he reaches for her hand, then hesitates, but she offers it to him and he takes it. It occurs to her how nice it would be to meld with him--platonically, obviously.

He turns her down at first. There's intel in his mind that needs to be kept secret, and he knows she has trouble keeping secrets (some might say it's her biggest Flaw). She assures him he's not obligated, and he doesn't have to justify himself. She also assures him, for future reference, that there are ways of maintaining privacy. They talk through how melds work, what steps can and should be taken to protect oneself and others. She's very protective in how she talks about it, and he ends up changing his mind.

The next day, they join their minds, sharing memories and introducing loved ones. They also share some troubled memories, including the trauma that Zeeyla's been carrying for the past several months, past the wall she's run into when trying to talk to him about it. Her escape from the Prothean homeworld--filled with such horrors as paralyzing indoctrination swarms, slime-filled underground caverns, a lake of doom, Collector mermaids, and a dead banshee at her feet--came at the cost of releasing a reaper, and she doesn't think her survival is worth the lives Imperator might destroy.

Their meld also revealed hints of romantic attraction between the two of them. With Kaidan, it manifested as golden light coming from behind a closed door, meant just for her, and she lingered in its warmth without pushing past the set boundary. Zeeyla's manifested as soft, nebulous wisps of dark energy, unknowable, but his.

Afterward, he admitted he wanted to kiss her...so she kissed him. They talked about building a romantic relationship together. Her flight response kicks in a little bit -- she's used to being an expert at what she does, she doesn't like feeling so inept, she doesn't want to ruin their relationship or hurt him, but she's invested in getting it right.

Shortly after, she takes an opportunity to go up to Mexico City to meet Maria's Tio Benito and attend his lectures on xenotechnologies, something she's wanted to do almost as long as she and Maria have been friends. She assures Kaidan she's not running away, and she'll be back soon...sooner if he needs her. He encourages her to go, and she sends him a lot of excited updates about the lectures, her lovely new friend, and the delicious food.

While she's away, Kaidan secures time off for the days surrounding the Alchera anniversary, and gets them a room at small beachside boutique hotel, a private base to return to. (There's only one bed!...but keep your hopes in check. lol) When she returns, they steal away, they explore the national park, they visit the Museum of Tomorrow (what does that look like in 2186?), they have dinner at a mountaintop restaurant, they drink caipirinhas together on the beach. She contentedly wears his hoodie, even though it has an Alliance logo on it.

They share a bed, but they keep their clothes on. They kiss and cuddle a lot, but back off a bit when things get too heated. Zeeyla finds herself wondering who made this rule, who set this boundary? (It was Zeeyla. Zeeyla did that.)

As Kaidan honors the memory of the Normandy and those who were lost, Zeeyla provides comfort or distraction, as needed. They drink to the Normandy. She offers another toast: to survival, and to building something together with the chance they've been given. She absolutely means it...but she also too-quickly finishes her drink. Shenanigans ensue, followed by a hangover, a migraine, and a lazy, blustery day.

The days run out too soon, and they both return to work.

In the weeks that follow, her flight response dissipates. She frequently teases Kaidan, "Tell your Mister Hackett to send us to Earth!" They eventually agree that after her next mission, she'll go back to Earth, Vancouver this time. The Victor crew visits Arcturus so Maria can get their orders.

The reapers arrive.

Jensen's Saturday Morning Solo JIB12 Panel

There's some crossover between the panels because they're all one after the other, and the video source I'm using put all the panels into one vid so below, at the end of this post, you're gonna find two links so if you want to watch the panel you can choose whether you wanna start from when Jensen gets on stage and he and Jason Mann's talk a bit or if you prefer just the portion that has Jensen alone.

This poor man doesn’t know the time or the day, someone told him his time like his regular US time at that moment would be like 3am and he said that made sense and that he was actually up filming till 3am the day before. He has not slept.

He said that he was in a different country a couple days ago working on another project, but he doesn't mention or give details as to what that project is, then to filming Big Sky, and a couple weeks before that he was in another country shooting a movie. A fan in the crowd asked him what movie but he doesn't say, um does he not know that we know about the buddy games sequel, that we know he's in it, and that there are pictures of him on the set? I know he probably doesn't have permission to talk about it but it amuses me.

Anyways the first question is: is there any news about the 3rd Radio Company album and are they planning live shows after the release?

The album is basically done. They wrote it, Steve has been producing the music, it’s ready to go but Jensen hasn’t been able to do his part because he hasn’t been home in over two months. When the crowd reacts to that and goes 'awww' he adds that it’s okay, that he’s seen the kids because they’ve gone and visited him and he’s met them in other places and stuff but he hasn’t actually been to Austin in over two months.

Him not being to Austin in so long was not planned, he packed up for a week away, and then during that week D called him to tell him it was too hot and they were gonna go somewhere that wasn't as warm to meet them there so he was like 'okay' and then just hasn't gone back home he claims he's been living out of a suitcase for two months now.

I have several thoughts. First, it stands out to me that he specifically says that it's okay because he's seen the kids, not the wife and kids, the kids. Second, my boy do you not have keys to your own house? Do you not know how to use GPS to look up a clothing store? Could you not ask D to throw some of your clothes in a suitcase for you for when you met up? Or asked Jared who was not that long ago in NM?

I'm not doubting his claims of being away from home or of D taking the kids somewhere cooler for summer but I am doubting his claims of only having one suitcase of clothes.

Back to his answer, they’re very close to a third album, it's gonna be a bit of a departure from the previous two, this won’t be vol 3 it will be something different. He just has to get to Austin and do it, as for live shows Steve and he are talking about doing a show at some point in the near future they just have to lock the details down. x

Continuing on, how was Jensen first pitched C's death scene?

Jensen didn't have a lot of discussions about it, it's not something that was run by him. He knows MC did have conversations with the writers and producers, but he just spoke about it with MC and discussed how they wanted it to go like the tone of it. He makes clear he had no influence over MC and what he wanted to do, they each made their own decisions in regard to their characters.

He says that’s what worked for the show for 15yrs, that he never told Jared the decisions he should make as Sam and he also never told MC what he thought C should be doing; they all made their own decisions for their characters and a lot of it was based on what the other characters were doing and that’s why it’s such a great marriage of all the characters and the actors portraying them because he trusted Jared to make really fantastic decisions and he trusted M to make fantastic decisions which enabled him to make what in his opinion were good choices for Dean.

But in regards to that particular scene, he just tried to give MC the space to do what he needed to do as C, and Jensen thinks he did an amazing job and he's happy with how it turned out for MC.

That he remembers the crew passing a tissue box around cause they were sad and then they had to do the same with the barn scene, that it’s a true testament if you look around the faces of the crew that have seen you do everything for years and years and you’re affecting them that much then you know you’re unto something and at the end of the day that’s what they’re doing telling emotional stories that affect people.

This was such a professional answer, I have to give him a round of applause, what the person who asked this question was fishing for they did not find 👏

Any advice, as a director, on working with people who might not get your vision and how to communicate ideas clearly?

He replies that as a director you are the captain of the problem-solving squad. The script is a problem and it’s up to you to figure out how to solve it but keep in mind that all the others heads of departments are all there not only to be tools to help you create your vision but also to be collaborative. He thinks that as a director if you have a clear idea and you can say 'this is what I'm looking for' then it helps everybody facilitate that idea but if you run into actors who have a different idea about something then you have to be available and open to allow that collaboration to happen, and a lot of times they can bring things to the table that you hadn’t thought of; that if you’re closed off to that then you’re gonna miss out on happy accidents all the time.

So he would say his biggest advice is to be available for the additional creative that your cast and crew can give you. That it’s like drawing a map, make the map know how you wanna get from a to b but understand there are a few different ways to get there, and don’t block yourself off from getting there because you might get yourself stuck in a traffic jam. x

How was it to work again with Kripke after so many years?

It was like they never stopped working together. He says Kripke is an incredible talent who builds worlds that are just so uniquely him but he would say mostly it was just really fun saying his dialogue.

That how Kripke writes, how he shapes characters and relationships and character development, is so rich and textured and layered that he knew coming in that it wasn’t going to be a one-note character, it wasn't going to be a one-trick pony. That this guy was going to be complex, and Kripke just does an amazing job of writing rich complex characters in an outrageous world. He was excited to a. work with his friend again and b. be in this new world he’s running and creating. And it was a lot of fun, he had a really good time traveling around the world promoting The Boys, and it gave them the opportunity to sit and chat a lot about the show and spn and just life in general; he considers himself very fortunate to have a friend as talented and genuine as Kripke is. x

What got him interested in the Big Sky role and what can be expected from Sheriff Beau Arlen?

He shot The Boys last year, finished that in Sep, and he was only signed on to do one season. Clearly, the door was left open and there have been numerous conversations about the future of Soldier Boy so even though he only signed on for one season he may be coming back at some point, he says at this point it’s more a question of when not if but the point is that there was no promise of him coming back and he knew if he did it wouldn’t be right at the beginning of s4 or even during s4 at all so they finish that and he goes home for a bit and then went to do Rust. Which was an amazing experience up until it wasn’t, and then it was basically the end of the year and for the past 15yrs he has always gone back to set in the new year. So when the holidays came and went, and a new year arrived all of a sudden he realized he didn't have a job.

And most people would say he earned that break and that he should enjoy it but not him, he panicked thinking 'oh god, I need a job so bad’ so he called his agent and asked who was hiring to get out the classifieds. He had a phone conversation with ABC, just a general meeting, of them asking what he’s interested in doing and he told them and asked if they were looking for people for a new project or if they had a current project he might be right for, and one of the execs over there, who he’s known for many years, told him that she tought he should get in contact with the showrunner of Big Sky.

He says, sure, gets in contact with him, they hit it off and the showrunner tells him he'd like to bring Jensen in, shake stuff up; two weeks later Jensen gets an e-mail from the showrunner with a breakdown of this brand new character, Sheriff Beau Arlen. And when he saw that Jensen was like 'oh, he just wrote this for me', and it sounded fun so that was it. He watched the show a little bit to see what they may be missing from the story and the characters, and he thought Beau brought some levity to the show, which he enjoys.

He signed on for one season and we’ll see where that goes, he has a few more months on that project. That people will ask him what it’s like to go on a show that’s already going after being the co-lead of a show for 15yrs, and he says it was his and Jared's dinner party for 15yrs and now he’s going to somebody else’s house and having fun at their party. There are different faces and with that are different personalities and dramas and friendships and jokes but he will say that all of his old stuff from spn is all new now. That he just continues to do his outdated material with a new audience and they are loving it. That he’s like the s3 go-to guest, and he’s got something cooking about what’s next. x

Was it more fun for him to play a flawed hero like Dean or a messed-up asshole like Soldier Boy?

If he had to choose he would play Dean cause inherently at the end of the day he’s a good guy. He thinks Soldier Boy is a good guy in his mind and was probably a good guy at some point but due to the world he lived in and the role he was asked to play and accepted and brought on and embodied, and due to all his childhood trauma it turned him into a very very flawed character.

But again a character that in his mind was doing the right thing, and he thinks that’s what was such a rich part about that character is that he’s not a bad guy he’s the guy looking at everybody else going 'you’re all messed up' and that was a really interesting dynamic for him and something he really enjoyed playing because he thinks that there are certainly people in this world that exist that are like that, that are blind to social development, to learning how society changes. And when you're stuck in your ways that can be a big detriment to your development as a human, and he knows people like that and he's sure everybody does, people that just don't want to change.

Says that there’s been a lot of social things that have happened in the past 5-10yrs that have really challenged people in what they think is right or wrong or normal and he feels like for him personally you always wanna evolve and learn about others and yourself, that’s how you get to grow and be better as a society but some people are like 'I’m not doing that' so it was challenging in a fulfilling way to play that character in a world that didn’t accept him.

If Soldier Boy existed today he’d be canceled but in his mind, he’d say 'you're canceled, everybody else is canceled' so finding that voice and finding that tone for him was a lot of fun to do in a world like that; so even though in Soldier Boy's mind he’s the hero of his own story and he’s inherently a good guy by his standards, he is a heavily flawed character by societies standard.

While Dean is a hero in both worlds, he might be rough around the edges and flawed to a certain degree but at the end of the day, both Dean and society can agree that he’s a good guy with a good heart and a good compass and is doing the good fight. Definitely, two different characters in two different worlds but he enjoyed playing them both. x

If Dean and Soldier Boy met how would they feel about each other?

He thinks they would bond immediately, and then Dean would realize Soldier Boy is a complete toxic asshole and say he couldn’t hang out with him anymore because he’s gonna get him in trouble.

Jensen says it would be an interesting kind of social experiment to see what those two would do on a road trip together. The fan who asked the question asks if Soldier Boy would be allowed in the Impala, Jensen answers that as long as he doesn't get the heartburn 🤣 That as long as he didn't blow the thing up he would be although Soldier Boy would wanna pick the music so that might be a problem there. But at the end of the day, Dean would say "now I’m gonna have to kick your ass" and then he'd get destroyed. x

Then there's a rude ass question that wasn't even a question that we're gonna skip but some of you lack decency and it shows.

And to finish off the panel, what advice would he have given himself when he was 15?

The fan who asks this is 15 and Jensen asks him what kind of advice he's looking for, life advice, profession, girls, boys? The fan is looking for life advice. Jensen says this to actors but it relates to life in general: we don’t have to do this, we get to do this. This is a life we get to have and we don’t deserve it so spend every day earning it. x

also before too much more time goes by I want to unpack some of my spiderverse feelings. vvvvv all spoilers vvvvv

~~~~my thoughts on spiderverse 2 pls don’t read if you don’t wanna ~~~~

so I’m not sure exactly how I feel about if a tbc was an appropriate ending, but either way I kind of respect them for like, trying it.

Like, movies, esp franchise movies like oh idk superhero movies, often have sequel hooks. But they also try to be self-contained movies.

This isn’t a “try to force the audience to come back” kind of sequel hook. This is a “this is a two-parter, we always envisioned it that way, the two movies are complete and separately they are not and that’s how it is.” I’m not explaining it well but in any event I find it way more respectable.

in terms of visuals, last time they were praised for how each frame was beautiful and they rocked the industry by releasing a successful movie with non-realistic models and textures.

this time when deciding how to push the envelope they went hard on like...non-diagetic visuals I guess? Like characters do remark on how like for example Vulture looks like he’s made of paper so that’s actually diegetic, but what about like, the colors changing and melting during Gwen’s scenes with her father? I’d need to watch it again to get more examples but it’s like...everyone watching can see something weird’s happening with the visuals, and the artists trust are trusting the audience to recognize that it’s not literal.

and pretty much none of that was like, too much or not necessary or something.

and on TOP of that the story and characters are still great. All the new characters are good. Even tho the story isn’t complete it’s still 100% coherent.

and I watched a vid that pointed out one of the themes that they’re setting up seems to be “does it have to be our pain that defines us” and I feel like that’s what Miles is being set up to challenge and like. yes. good. I mean both in the story and irl bad things are going to happen to people, but specifically Miles is challenging the antagonist’s belief that he suffered because he tried to be happy, and you have to resign yourself to certain sacrifices. Again, bad things are going to happen, but you can keep striving for the ideal, and when those efforts pay off, it’s worth it, even if it’s not every time. At least I think that’s what they’re going for. The “I can do both!” thing seems to be setting up the “no you can’t and trying will only make neither work out / make something worse happen” vs the attitude of “I’ll solve the problems in front of me and if that triggers another problem, I’ll solve that too.” (I’m not implying the antagonist like, didn’t try hard enough to solve his original tragedy, heavens no, he didn’t know that would happen and it was just tragic, but that after that he resigned himself to the “this means sacrifices must always be made” mindset.)

oh and even more spoilery things...

I kinda thought it sounded like a Prowler-like sting was playing when Miguel was on screen, and Miles has some line like “are you sure you’re Spiderman??” when Miguel breaks out his very Prowler-like claws...so with the reveal at the end of the movie I think that’s definitely going to be somehow part of Miguel’s backstory. We honestly didn’t see much of his backstory, it was a very quick setup of what his damage was and not much else. We know he universe-hopped and we don’t know almost anything about what his life was like in his original universe.

also defo think he’s going to have a redemption arc, they went hard on making him scary and I think that’s because they wanted a suitably dramatic fight, and it worked. not sure what’ll happen to Spot, he seems to have gone full “inhuman monster,” but the harder the redemption the more I like it if they pull it off

oh and also the “you’re the original anomaly” was a huge emotional gut-punch for Miles but as for me I was like “HECK YEAH” because it’s supposed to position him as a problem, but it just means that problem has to be solved and he’s going to solve it.

I know we’ve had a bunch of multiverse movies lately, it being a concept that’s been talked about a lot in other media but generally not movies, but I think this one solidly earns its place for its use of them. The Spiderverse series and EEAaO can stay.
