Megs was like '???wait no I'm terrible for you.' And Orion was like 'I don't care I'm being selfish."

In Crossing the Line, Megatronus was the sweeper. Bro literally starts flirting with Orion mid debate in that AU and essentially throws Orion's whole worldview on its head. XD That actually was one of the MOST fun scenes i've ever written actually.

Well, yesterday I finished watching Chrono Stone and God what the actual fuck?! Like Kinako is Fei's mother? Bro, I have a board on Pinterest literally called 'Kinako x Fei'! In my defence, I had no clue.

And also, why on Earth does IE have to have one episode in each season where they are revising everything that happened. Sometimes I appreciate that (IE season 3 - recapitulation of how Raimon soccer club came into being - that was useful) but the others are there - just to be there. It's frustrating.

Tbh, I'd much rather know, how's Fei doing - if he gets along with Saru again, or if Kinako made it (from what I've come to understand - Kinako will try to survive her own death) or Tove or Zanark...

I admire tenma and the others - cuz if it was me, who did all of that I would probably mentally collapse at the very beginning or I wouldn't make not see those people again (Fei, or those from the past)

But I look forward to seeing Galaxy ( I've actually seen the first episode and God, here we go again...) But I have some spoilers and it looks promising, hopefully I won't get brainwashed again hehe

Do you have any new years traditions?

I don't know how I missed this! No specific traditions here but New Year's Eve does hold a special place because it was the catalyst for myself and @orions-bolt finally testing the waters beyond friendship eight years ago.

I was staying with him and his roommates that winter due to not having a car and their rental's proximity to my employer at the time. We'd been friends in the same circle for several years and I'd always had feelings I wasn’t sure were reciprocated, but nights of playing Final Fantasy X and Smash Bros. together had me quite smitten at this point. We went out for New Year's Eve with some friends and when he went to get us drinks near the end of the night, my drunk ass waltzed up to him at the bar and said I needed someone to kiss at midnight, but I needed to make sure it was good first, so I planted one on him right there at the bar. I'm foggy on specifics but I just remember the overwhelming sense of safety I felt with him in that moment, like breathing the cleanest air after having my head underwater.

It was ultimately a bit of a false start because we were in our early 20's and I felt we both needed to explore more before locking it down, but fast forward to a year later and we were making out to White Roses by Charli XCX on my couch at 3 AM. The rest is history!

Also just my little spin on it, but I think that it also represents his minor victim complex which didn’t take well to Optimus becoming a prime bc 1) he had many feelings for his “bro” and 2) he associated the primacy with the corruption of the High Council, and he felt deeply betrayed by Optimus because he thought Optimus would uphold the values of classism and corruption despite having fought by Megs’ side under his philosophy. He thought someone finally understood his struggle intimately, but then Optimus became a Prime so that OBVIOUSLY meant Megatron meant nothing to Optimus. Megs is so dramatic 🙄🙄

Reflections - The Neighborhood — so much ANGST!!! Each of them wanting the other to come back because they sold their soul for each other and believing the other just doesn’t love them anymore. The angst is scrumptious. Also it’s such a soft song, it’s giving “ruminating about your ex lover/revolutionary bestie at 3 am”

Star Walkin’ - Lil Nas X — Super peppy tune, it makes me wanna start a revolution!! AAAAA!! I think it’s representative of Megatron’s thirst to be recognized and to have power to change Cybertron’s corrupt authority, to champion a revolution fueled by the intoxicating idealism that would make Cybertron equal for everyone. I hc that Orion Pax and Megs when they were young would be brimming with idealism and determination and fall hard into whatever they set their minds to (including each other 🫣🫣). Obv as the war evolves and they find each other on opposite sides of the war, yes they fight each other bc they want to protect the ideals of their respective factions, but also because they’re constants in each others lives. Optimus Prime will always be a driving force in Megs’s life and vice versa. It’s a sort of weird camaraderie they share because they’re important to each other (not in the sense that they can’t live without the other, but like they’ve always been present in the others life).

The Heat - The Score — I almost didn’t put it on here because I feel like it’s very subjective, but it just reminds me of tfp Megatron’s obsession with Optimus, and like he wants him BAD.

Hold Me Down - The Happy Fits — so this might be a little OOC but I think what I hc as the early parts of Megatronus and Orion Pax’s relationship is what this song reminds me of. They’re just so in love but so awkward. It just hits you in the feels.

Centuries - Fallout Boy — do I even need to explain? also just more angst ✌🏽✌🏽

Run for Cover - The Killers — again, a very angsty tune and I love it.

Crossfire - Stephen — there’s a lot in this song. Firstly I see two perspectives in this song that I think fit well with Optimus and Megatron. One perspective is caught in the middle of a necessary war because of trying to fight oppression/corruption as someone who was a victim of that, and the weariness he feels, but also the fact that he has to continue fighting in order to protect himself and others like him from oppression (essentially being “caught in the crossfire”) — that’s Megs. The other one is someone who’s priveliged and mostly protected from oppression that has tangible effects on his life, but he still is conscious of others being oppressed and wanting to know why — that’s Optimus/Orion Pax. And in a way, megs and op find refuge in each other while this whole thing is going on because the lyrics lowkey reek of exhaustion to me, and it seems like both of them are exasperated/emotionally drained from this war. Eventually, as the war goes on, Optimus starts to question if he’s on the right side of the war. If he’s on the Autobot side, hes asking if blindly following orders is the right thing to do, kind of like in IDW’s Autocracy, because the destruction he’s bringing to the enemy doesn’t seem fair, because they’re just fighting for freedom. If he’s on Megs’ side, he’s questioning if Megatron’s brutality and totalitarianism is really the way to bring peace, even if he does love Megs and believes in Megs’ vision of a more equal Cybertron. There’s a lot of internal conflict that’s very characteristic of Optimus’s and Megatron’s rocky relationship and honestly it’s my crack.

I don't tag anything as anti jiang cheng, as I do like him as one of my favorite characters to analyze, and what I have here is simply reiterating what we are given from text and the author. No I am not an anti so if you're also looking for pure Jiang Cheng hate, that's going to disappoint.

4: I am rather critical of the portrayals of fandom tropes for MDZS (This further extends to SVSSS now given it's featured more now here too) that is horribly prevalent on Twitter and this runs the gamut of all sides. I am more than happy to expand on my thoughts on anything for this as well for any questions sent my way about what I think of "so and so".

5: I am a Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen stan first and foremost and will make that apparent through my meta as I get rather annoyed when the points of these two are missed. Now I need to stipulate that this includes Luo Binghe, don't bother me with devil advocate arguments regarding him.

What was the lab like back in mimictale?

Considering the fact that this universe basically has an entire world's worth of room compared to the other aus, I assume it would be much larger unless it was lacking in funds. Did they have other projects to work on? Did the bros ever get to see any projects or were they taught anything about them? Would they have been friends with any of the staff?

Would the core be necessary or would they use something else to generate power? Since they have access to electricity and a much larger amount of land, did they have a similar technological timeline to that of humans? (Like using coal and steampowered engines instead of something magic based)

Also since mimictale is basically a scaled up UT then what would waterfall be like? Would it be in a massive cave or out in the open? Could it be used for mining purposes to support a much larger population, a lil settlement or just a place to explore? Since it's in-between Snowdin and Hotland (where I presume the lab is located) then would the bros have been thru there? If so, do u think they liked it?

The capital's lab was VERY well funded. Back in its prime, it was regarded as the leading innovator for technology within the region. I think it'd be nearly completely underground below the Kingdom and only accessible from within the castle, both to make use of geothermal energy and for protection. Most of the lab's work was concerned with studying the effects of magic on organic matter or enhancing the properties of materials and minerals with magic.

Orion and Freki were quite involved with the projects in the lab because of Asgore's indifference to child labour policies, though only Freki was allowed to be present while experiments were ongoing and help out with menial tasks. Orion was still a little too young to be there without constant supervision, so he had the concepts explained to him instead. They wouldn't have made many friends since Eridanus (Mimictale Gaster) tried his best to keep them away from the rest of the lab staff and essentially threatened to strip anyone of their title if they touched either of them. Mimics can get dangerously possessive over children, especially ones supposedly with no declared parental figures.

Mimictale would still use the CORE to power the Kingdom as the geothermal energy generated from Hotland supplies a good part of their energy needs. If not, it'd come from their own magic. The technological timeline does loosely follow that of humans, but as a whole most non-renewable energy sources are often substituted/bolstered with magic or draught animals. Rural areas also have less access to technology or reject it entirely.

I imagine Waterfall to occur as a wetland biome leading into a natural cavern! The surface would resemble a swamp while its underground region would take after a marsh. Its large cave system would definitely be a popular mining location with taverns, stilt houses, wooden bridges, echo flower fields, etc. It was one of the only places where Freki and Orion could catch a break thanks to the sparse aboveground population, so they did like it!

It's no problem for me to answer! I've never thought too deeply about the answers to some of these questions, so it helped me flesh out Mimictale in my head a little more. Have a good day, Anon <3
