May have said this before but I’ll say it again… literally nothing anyone says or writes will EVER make me believe that Ben Solo deserved to die or that it was in any way the “best” or “only” choice they could have made. It was by far the worst choice in a movie FULL of bad choices and harmful narratives
Absolute bullshit

Eternal Emperor Vader au
Imagine that Darth Vader and Luke worked together to kill Palpatine like Rey and Kylo did.
Vader cements himself in the dark side by killing his master. Luke and Vader declares a peace that would last as long as one did not attack the other. The Empire regrouped and retreated into the Unknown Regions under Vader's leadership, while The New Republic is born.
The New Republic was born and began to heal the galaxy. Luke's new Jedi Order was founded. Mon Mothma as the Chancellor with Leia as Vice Chair. Han and Lando are the Ministers of Defense and Chewbacca is Ambassador to Kashyyyk. The New Republic did not demilitarize their fleet. They instead build and improve their fleet and build Star Defenders to combat the Star Destroyers. To defend their systems, fight the criminal syndicates and prepare for the eventual upcoming war with Emperor Vader.
The Empire is rebuilding it's strength after the defeat at Endor. Thrawn, Gideon, General Veers and Sloane are Vader's inner circle. Vader killed Rax the moment he learned of Palpatine's contingency plans. Vader found Galen Marek and turned him into his apprentice, his Starkiller, the final Inquisitor. Eventually Vader found Exegol. Killed Palpatine and took the Final Order's Sith Fleet for himself. Anyone and everyone loyal to Palpatine is dead. The Empire has become The New Sith Empire. On Exegol, the SIth Temple was reopened, similar to how The First Order abducted children for the new Sith Order.
The Sith have begun to infiltrate the New Republic which begins a cold war between the Sith and the New Republic. Then one day, the day that destroys everything Leia has built. The revelation that Darth Vader is Leia's father. Leia is shunned from The New Republic and this very event is what tips the balance to making this cold war hot.
Ben Solo's betrayal. Ben feels betrayed. All his life he was told the good man that his grandfather was. Hero of the Republic and Jedi Knight of the Jedi Council and that he died sacrificing his life to save the Jedi from The Emperor. He was lied to and he was consumed by rage and betrayal. Luke attempts to stop Ben's anger, but Ben attacks him and leaves him for dead. He gathers his 6 best friends and together they kill the New Jedi Order and venture to find Emperor Vader.
Ben Solo and his fellow Jedi become Kylo Ren and the Knights Of Ren and Vader's Elite Sith Warriors.
Luke flees to Ach-To. He has failed. The war that he was dreading is here and he has himself to blame for not telling Ben the truth.
Out of guilt and shame for failing his son. Han leaves to be a smuggler again. Hoping one day he can make things right with Leia and bring their son home.
Leia lost her son, her father has returned to wage war on her and destroy everything she has worked so hard to build, her brother went into hiding and Han left. Leia has no choice but to lead The Resistance.
Same things that happen in canon happens, but differently
Finn is abducted by The Sith Empire, but not by Phasma. By Iden Versio. Because Operation Cinder never happened, Iden never defects. Iden becomes what Phasma became, only she's a die hard believer and Finn and his squadron is the next generation of Inferno Squad
Poe Dameron is the son of Rebel heroes and is NOT a drug smuggler(fuck you JJ) he is taught by his father.
Rey is left on Jakku, but not because it was done to protect her by junk traders. It was done because her parents were scum. Her father was rejected by Palpatine and left to die and marooned on Jakku. They had Rey, but had nothing. They saw no value in Rey and sold her so they can get off of Jakku. Rey in a fit of rage kills them with the dark side. The trauma of it cuts Rey off from the force and represses the memory.
Paige Tico is the Y-Wing Bomber in Poe's Squadron and Rose Tico is the Intelligence Officer in The New Republic
Kylo Ren, Julian Veers(Veers' son replacing Hux) and Iden Versio are this version of the First Order's Triumvirate
Kylo Ren and Starkiller are at war with each other, each covet the throne from Vader and all they are waiting for is one sign of weakness and they will kill each other for to become Vader's heir.
However there is one thing that could turn the Empire against Vader. A cult of Palpatine loyalists lead by Snoke escaped Exegol and have one mission. Find the true Emperor's granddaughter. Train her and help her become the Empress and destroy the Skywalkers and bring a new age of darkness to the galaxy.
Or can the heirs of Vader and Palpatine come together and bring balance to the force and end this war and the eternal struggle between light and darkness?
I'd say Episode VII is about Vader's return and the beginnings of the war, bringing Han and Leia together, Han's death at the hands of his son, Rey/Finn vs Kylo, but ending with Finn finding Luke. What about Rey? After defeating Kylo Ren. She heard a voice. "Come find me Rey and find your belonging and your rightful place in this galaxy" Rey went to Snoke, while Chewey saved
Episode VIII. Allout war. After the destruction of Hosnian Prime, The New Republic joined forces with The Resistance and declared war on The Sith Empire. The connection between Rey and Ben is formed. But this gains the attentions of Starkiller. Starkiller saw the weakness in Kylo after his defeat at the hands of the scavenger, but now his sentiment just gives him the need to kill Kylo Ren once and for all. Poe and Paige are on the frontlines. Rose works with Leia to discover a way to disable the Xyston Class Star Destroyer lasers in order to prevent as much destruction as possible. Finn is able to pull Luke out of his exile. How? You see, Finn is Luke's son. The Sith Eternal abducted Finn before Luke and Mara could act. The abduction of Finn and the revelation of Vader being Anakin being revealed galaxy wide is what left Luke open to Ben's betrayal. Now that Finn is here, Luke knows he has to make this right. He spends the rest of the movie training Finn. Rey finds her way to Snoke. Snoke reveals the truth to Rey and this shakes her to her very core. One thing that Leia did not count on. Vader has arrived. He boards her ship like he did so long ago. She allows Rose to escape, while she confronts her father. Vader gives her a chance to surrender and join the dark side, it's the only way she can see her son. Leia takes her Lightsaber "I'm a Jedi, like my father once was" "So be it. Jedi" and so we get Vader vs Leia, while Rose enacts the plan to destroy the Xyston-Class fleet. Think the Mass Shadow Generator from KOTOR II, that is EXACTLY what Rose does. Kylo Ren and Starkiller fights in Fortress Vader. while Rey fights Snoke. Kylo Ren kills Starkiller to assume his place at Vader's side. Rey kills Snoke to free herself, she thought she was free until she hears a sinister voice. "You done well, my granddaughter." Meanwhile In the fight between Vader and Leia. Leia proclaims that she knew he was a good man, that her mother loved him, but that man is dead and all that's left is Vader. Vader aims to kill her and Leia gives herself to the force like Obi-Wan. Luke and Finn comes to the rescue and the New Republic rallies behind them. Vader and Luke have a staredown. Finn meets Rose, Rose is in awe of Finn, but Finn is just as in awe in Rose after Poe told her what she did, they congratulate each other and shook hands, a sure sign of friendship and something more. Finn feels distraught. They saved everyone, but they lost Leia and Rey is still missing. Luke tells his son "we have everything we need"
Episode IX. The battle of Coruscant. Stormtrooper Rebellion and the fate of the galaxy. Luke vs Vader. Rey vs Kylo vs Finn. Finn, Poe and Rose work together to stir up a Stormtrooper Rebellion. Finn faces Iden. When Iden has Finn down where she wants, Rose shoots her and Finn cuts her down with the lightsaber. Together Finn and Rose free his brothers and sisters. Ben has conflict. Despite everything he's done, his mother's death changed everything. She lied to him, but he still loved her. He thought his true place was by Vader's side, but this bond with Rey helped show that it's not too late that he can still come back. But Rey changed, she shut him out completely. Ben goes to Finn. Finn is defensive, but senses this is not the same man he fought on Starkiller Base. The final battle between the New Republic and the Sith Empire takes place over and on Coruscant. Luke faces Vader, while Rey and Ben face Empress Rey. Killing Leia changed Vader. a light he never thought possible was there. Luke tells his father it's not too late. No one's ever really gone. For once in his life. Vader shows remorse. Then suddenly force lightning. Empress Rey seeks to finish off Luke and Vader. Ben and Finn are there to try and reach the real Rey. For a brief moment, Anakin Skywalker returns. He takes the essence of Palpatine within him and tells everyone to end it once and for all. Rey, Finn and Ben kill Vader and Palpatine, ending the war once and for all. The movie ends with Lando as Chancellor and signing a peace treaty with Thrawn and Sloane. Finn and Rose get married, Luke rebuilds the Jedi Order. While both Ben and Rey go on a path of atonement to right their wrongs and a ends on a kiss in the Falcon.

| Previous Scene- Obi-Wan’s Sacrifice |
{The Millennium Falcon}
(Chewbacca and Han are in the cockpit) “I hope that old man got the tractor beam out of commission, or this is gonna be a real short trip.” (Starts the engine) “Okay. Hit it!”
(The Millennium Falcon is able to successfully pull away from the Death Star. In the lounge, everyone is now mourning the loss of Obi-Wan “Ben” Kenobi. Leia sits next to Luke, puts his poncho on his back. Katniss sighs, a tear falling down her cheek) “Luke… I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t be. I know it probably wasn’t easy seeing him again.”
(Understandably, Leia is confused) “Who?”
(Katniss looks at her niece) “Vader.”
(The Princess gulps, the trauma of being interrogated still very fresh) “You’ve met him before?”
[im not sorry for the pain you’re about to feel] *nine year old Anakin Skywalker VO, archive audio* “Are you okay? You’re in pain. I can feel it. I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, I knew him.”
*nineteen year old Anakin Skywalker VO, archive audio* “I killed them. I killed them all. And not just the men. But the women… and the children too. They were like animals… and I slaughtered them like animals! I HATE THEM!”
“I never saw the signs…” (Glaring at Pan) “… that he was the bad guy the entire time.”
*offended Robbie Kay noises* “I- Okay.” (Pan is at a loss for words) “Okay.” (He walks out of the lounge) “Fine.”
{Cockpit}
(Han turns to his co-pilot) “We’re coming up on their sentry ships.” (Stands up from his seat) “Hold them off. Angle the deflector shields while I charge up the main guns.”
{Lounge}
(Katniss reflects on her very brief encounter with Darth Vader while trying to comfort her nephew. Luke is completely unaware of how complicated the situation actually is… but we know he won’t be in the dark forever. It’s not long now. The time is coming… but we need to remain patient. The fact of the matter is… Luke Skywalker has lost his mentor) “I can’t believe he’s gone.”
*I lost my parents, my friends, my home… my hero… all in one day* “There wasn’t anything you could’ve done.” [added because fanfic. Fuck off] “Or I could have done.”
(This somber moment is interrupted by Han Solo) [I am the singular member of the Mixiverse Han Solo defense squad
Tumblr media
HE’S DONE NOTHING WRONG!!!!] “Come on, buddy. We’re not out of this yet.” (To Katniss) “You might wanna watch this, hon.”
(Katniss follows Luke and Han to…)
{Luke’s Gunner Port}
(… where the young man sits down. He looks at his aunt) “You might wanna hang on to the rung of that ladder, Aunt Kat.”
“Yeah.”
{Han’s Gunner Port}
(Han puts on his headset) “You in kid?”
*Luke VO, headset* “We’re in.”
“Okay. Stay sharp.”
{Luke’s Gunner Port}
(Luke focuses on memorizing the controls, notes that he has to teach his aunt how to do what he’s doing) “Hang tight, okay?”
{Cockpit}
(Leia, Sarah and Chewbacca sit in front of the controls. The ship starts to shake, and then…) “Here they come.” [come through, John Williams iconic score!]
{Lounge}
(The Doctor looks at Naomi) “Here we go.”
(She can’t help herself) “It’s gonna be a bumpy ride… and I am terrified.”
(Jim and Peter also strap in, acting as if they’re on a ride in the happiest place on Earth [
Tumblr media
I’m hilarious. And very broke… and hate inflation])
{Luke’s Gunner Port}
(For a brief moment, the power goes out after one of the enemy ships attacks the Falcon. Again, this is only for a brief moment because the power does come back. Katniss watches Anakin’s son attempt to take shots at the incoming TIE fighters, whose eyes are trained on the targeting computer in front of him. She is really, really struggling to understand everything she’s seeing; she doesn’t know what does what… but she does know one thing…) “It’s all about aiming.”
“That’s the problem. I can’t aim when they’re not in range.”
(Re: targeting computer) “That square thing is-“
“Yeah. It’s supposed to help you see what you’re trying to shoot.”
(The Mockingjay feels like this is an inappropriate time for learning about the mechanics of starship technology/ space battle weaponry) “Maybe I should just have labels on the controls?”
(Luke tries again to take down an incoming fighter, but it’s difficult. He shouts into his headset…) “They’re coming in too fast!”
{Lounge}
(Zip is being held by the Doctor and Naomi, which is a good thing because the ride is very, very rocky. And as the ship takes an even bigger hit from one of the TIE fighters, the dog is secured in place between the couple… unlike C-3P0 and R2, who have made their way out of the lounge. The golden droid is knocked off balance by the attack, letting out a yell as he falls into a batch of wires and computer chips)
{Cockpit}
(Chewbacca looks at Sarah, barks out a question to her. Thanks to the Tardis translation circuits, she can understand the Wookiee) “I’m fine. Don’t worry.”
(Leia leans towards the intercom) “We’ve lost the lateral controls!”
{Han’s Gunner Port}
(The charming smuggler takes one hand off the joystick of his cannon, holding his headset in place) “Don’t worry! She’ll hold together.” (He can smell smoke) *mumbling* “You hear me, baby? Hold together.”
{Main Passageway}
(R2 extinguishes the fire coming from the place where the hit occurred)
{Han’s Gunner Port}
(The young man’s eyes are trained on his targeting computer, but he can hear the sound of the TIE fighter flying closer to his area of the ship. Then… BOOM!!! Han has just shot down an Imperial TIE fighter!) *hey, something good happened today* [interpret that how you like] “Ha ha!”
{Luke’s Gunner Port}
(Another one bites the dust! And it’s Skywalker!! [yes, this is a callback to Episode One. I don’t want to hear your complaints. Have you met my friend… the door?] Luke smiles and laughs) “I got him!”
(Katniss laughs) “You got him!”
(He looks over his shoulder as he shouts to Han…) “I got him!!”
(The other man gives Luke a quick thumbs up) “Great, kid! Don’t get cocky.”
{Han’s Gunner Port}
(He turns back to his screen) “Katniss, make sure your nephew doesn’t get cocky!”
{Cockpit}
(Leia doesn’t want to celebrate just yet) “There’s still two more of them out there!”
{Luke’s Gunner Port}
“Aunt Kat… how are my odds looking?”
(Katniss looks outside the port, seeing another fighter) “I’d say they’re in your favor.”
(Luke grins) “Let’s see!”
(BANG!!! Katniss laughs at the sight of the fighter exploding after it’s shot down by her nephew) “Yes!”
{Han’s Gunner Port}
*Luke OC* “Three down, one to go!”
(Han waits. Three, two, one… POW POW POW POW! BOOM!! The last TIE fighter is now an explosion of smoke. Relief washes over the space pirate, who exhales and removes his headset)
{Luke’s Gunner Port}
(Katniss hugs her nephew) “Your dad would be so proud!” [🥲 so true, bestie]
(Luke smiles as she releases him) “That’s it! We did it!”
{Cockpit}
(Leia, who probably had the worst luck today, is smiling from ear to ear) “We did it!”
(She hugs Chewbacca, who returns the gesture. He roars, telling Sarah to get in on the hug. She obliges) “Oh my god.”
{Lounge}
(It’s safe for Zip to be on the floor again. The Doctor can’t help himself, picking up his girlfriend and spinning her in his arms before kissing her) “Totally brilliant!”
*it’s giving “I carried a watermelon”* “I did nothing.”
(The Doctor scoffs) “That’s not entirely true. We kept the dog from getting hurt during that scuffle with the TIEs.”
(Pan stretches) “I think everyone was equally useless here. Or, to put it a better way… everyone was equally useful.”
*C-3P0 OC* “Help! I think I’m melting! This is all your fault, R2!”

Triumphant Victory: Jonas Leads the Way
In the autumn 2022 points round, an exciting away game began for the C-youth against TSV Eintracht Bad Cannstatt. Jonas, one of the talented strikers of the team, was full of anticipation and ready to give his best.
From the start, Jonas' team aggressively pushed forward, but was hindered by frequent offside positions in the offensive play. Nevertheless, they did not lose courage. After a beautiful combination of three passes, Felix had the first chance for a goal, but the opponent's attentive goalkeeper skillfully parried.
The team maintained control of the game and used the high direct pass density to dominate the course of play. Lukas narrowly missed the goal with a quick advance, and Leon narrowly missed the goal with a long-range shot. The lead was practically in the air.
Shortly before the end of the first half, the team was awarded a standard. From a semi-right position, David curled the ball into the penalty area, the goalkeeper could only parry it centrally, and Noah was there to score the overdue halftime lead.
After the change of sides, the game continued intensely. Noah tried with a solo run and narrowly missed the goal. The tension in the match noticeably increased. After winning the ball in the middle of the field, Ben started another run. He outsmarted the entire defense and shot the ball halfway up the right side of the goal. A strong goal, really well executed!
The home team reacted immediately and scored a consolation goal. A similar action followed, which almost led to an equalizer, but Tim managed to deflect the ball just around the post.
In the final quarter of an hour, Bad Cannstatt became increasingly dangerous, and lapses in concentration on the part of the C-youth favored their chances of equalizing. But then the team remembered, physically held their ground, and shifted the game into the opponent's defense.
Finally, the referee's final whistle sounded, and the team could celebrate. With a final score of 2-1, they had played a successful game. Congratulations were extended to the entire squad. There was nothing to criticize about the team's attitude on this day, and their physical condition was also in good shape. Now, the task was to further improve their hunger for goals and finishing hardness, in order to confidently face the next home game against TSV Stuttgart Gerberau.
Jonas, as a striker, had once again proven himself in this game, showcasing his strength and determination. His goals were crucial for the team's victory. With each game, his confidence grew, and he was full of anticipation for the upcoming challenges, where he could once again demonstrate his skills.
After the game, the team gathered in the locker room and congratulated each other.
Jonas: "What a game, guys! We really gave it our all and deserved the win."
Felix: "Exactly! You paved the way for us with your goals. Simply played brilliantly!"
Jonas: "Thank you! But without your setups and support, my goals wouldn't have been possible."
Lukas: "We really functioned as a team. Everyone contributed."
Leon: "True! The fighting spirit was truly impressive today."
Jonas: "And Tim, you made some crucial saves in the final quarter. That was the key to the victory."
Tim: "Thank you! I was determined to prevent them from equalizing."
Coach: "Guys, I'm proud of you! Today, we showed what we're capable of. But now, it's time to continue working hard and prepare for the next game."
The team nodded in agreement and together they said: "Together we are strong!" They left the locker room, full of confidence and anticipation for the upcoming challenges.

Okay, this is a variation of this piece I did before because I think that Rey wouldn’t care who is saying anything negative about her husband, she’s going to come for them and Ben puts on an air of long suffering, but is chuffed that his wife will go to bat for him every time.

TROS spat in the face of every single abused child who was looking to this fairytale for hope. The sequel trilogy wasn’t about a farm boy looking for adventure or even an abused child falling to villainy, it was about three abused children from the different class systems all rising out of trauma and dysfunction. This was our fairytale, our story, and JJ Abrams perverted it into abuse apologist propaganda in a pathetically desperate attempt to appease the most hateful groups of fans who never understood or appreciated the story to begin with (which is why the story had to be butchered in order to appease them).
1.) Rey
Rey’s parents selling her for profit into slavery was portrayed as a good, loving thing. Child trafficking was literally portrayed as excusable, and even loving, in this children’s film. Just let that sink in for a second.
What is the message there? If your parents did something horrible that caused you years of trauma and torment, you should just not lose faith in them because they may have had a good reason (even if you have no evidence of that). Maybe a space wizard who has been dead for decades forced them to traffic you. This scene makes me want to vomit. This is how a children’s fairytale portrayed parents who sell their children into trafficking:
Tumblr media
There is no excuse for this. Rey’s parentage was solved. Her identity crisis was over. This wasn’t needed except to force this abuse apologist message. Oh, and of course to feed the sexist fanboys a bit of eugenics to make them stop whining about how a woman could possibly be important and powerful.
TLJ was about Rey discovering her identity and letting go of her unhealthy, irrational dependency on parents who she never knew, who sold her to an abuser and left her to half-starve alone in a desert. TROS decided to give her a new identity crisis out of literally nowhere just so they could erase all that “You are not your parents, even if your parents don’t love you and/or aren’t special, you are still special and still deserving of love. You can find belonging ahead of you.” stuff with dynastic “Actually, your blood family does entirely define your identity and you should always assume they’re right even when all evidence points otherwise, just ignore your own trauma and blame it on a dead space wizard.”
The whole Rey Palpatine thing left a very bad taste in my mouth. Not just because it’s fucking stupid and something Reddit would write, but because Rey was horrible in TROS. She acted like she was possessed by Palpatine, she stabbed Ben (who she cares for and always had compassion for) to kill while he was distracted. She suddenly acted like she didn’t care about anyone around her. She just overall acted unrecognizable from the warm, loving, empathetic woman we saw in TFA and TLJ. The message here is clearly that because she has this “bad blood”, Rey can’t have an identity for herself. The only thing that saves her is taking on the identity of the good guys, she never finds her own. All the traits she’s had up until now don’t matter, who she actually is doesn’t matter. All that matters is what man’s blood runs through her veins. All Rey is is someone’s granddaughter, because if she wasn’t, then she’d really be nobody.
And thus, JJ Abrams decided that “Anyone can be special, even nobodies. Your worth is not defined by your class or your background.” was a stupid message and instead it should be pure eugenic “You’re only special if you have important people blood/name. Your identity is entirely your (male) family, not your own. No silly woman could have power of her own!”
Rey taking on the name of Skywalker is an utterly shallow attempt to fix the fact that they took every bit of Rey’s real identity from her, took half her soul (Ben is her dyad, two that are one), and then left her alone on a desert planet as if to say that her “true self” is the abused child she once was and that she can’t actually escape that. The moral of this fairytale was “You don’t need friends or love, as long as you have a glow stick (material possessions) and a super duper special name that makes you important (which you weren’t before, you were nobody).”
Not to mention that Rey basically named herself after Luke, no one else she knew actually used that name. And Luke didn’t do anything to deserve that, he rejected her at every single opportunity and only did the bare minimum to help her after being berated into it. Han was her surrogate father and the first person to offer her a life outside of Jakku. Leia was her loving mentor and pseudo-mother. Ben was the love of her life who has always been there for her when she needed someone to confide it, someone to see her true self and tell her she wasn’t alone. Luke was nothing but some cranky old guy who made her feel awful about herself and never accepted her (not to mention telling her she was inherently dangerous and also trying to murder her soulmate when he was a child which the real Rey was furious about).
2.) Finn
Finn’s character has not been given much in terms of development. For the most part, he’s been reduced to “Rey’s friend” and then “Finn’s friend”, with a little moment in there where he got to be with Rose and have his own identity but TROS of course decided to reward racist bullies and cut out Rose instead of giving the rest of the fans a satisfying story.
In TROS though, the one thing that Finn actually did that was heroic by himself, his character defining moment of turning from The First Order, was credited to the force and described like it wasn’t a choice at all. Which brings up a lot of questions and, as Han would say, “That’s not how the force works!”. It was so entirely unneeded to take that from Finn, but they gave up all of Rose’s potential screentime to do it.
There’s also the moment when Poe, our alleged hero, so hilariously (i.e callously) compares himself being a criminal to Rey being a scavenger and Finn being a stormtrooper. Completely ignoring the fact that they had no choice in that, as if their trauma doesn’t matter at all. It’s a small moment, but it was very insensitive and highlights how much the writers Did Not Care or even understand their main characters’ experiences.
3.) Ben
I don’t even know where to start with Ben Solo. His ending was the one that broke me as a person, I had so many hysterical sobbing fits over it that my loved ones were actually getting tired of it and it genuinely put me in a really bad place with my depression that I’m only just not getting out of.
Ben Solo’s story in TFA and TLJ was abuse victim’s epic, it was the story of a boy who was tortured and groomed from the time he was in his mother’s womb. A man who never knew a life without abuse. Ben Solo was described as a pure beam of light in his mother’s womb who was ensnared and tainted by a predatory force bigger and stronger than himself that he could not escape.
The feeling of being tainted and corrupted is common in abuse victims, and the fact that TROS told every single abused child out there “Yes, you really are tainted and corrupted. You do deserve to die before experiencing more than a moment of happiness and safety.” is something that I’ve yet to get over. It still infuriates me, it still breaks my heart. Ben’s entire arc up until this point has been about how he is still worthy of love.
And no, this isn’t me woobifying; it’s in the text of the films and the canon novels that Ben worked for his redemption, that he earned it. Ben fought Snoke from the time he was a child, but Ben was only a child and Snoke was too powerful, too relentless in his cruelty for him to withstand. The one and only person in the entire galaxy who had the training and the knowledge to protect Ben was his uncle, who chose to try to murder him in his sleep instead of protecting him. Ben was left with nowhere to turn except to his abuser. And even then, we see him struggle every single day to try and force himself to be this evil person that he never was. Ben was light itself who was convinced he was darkness through abuse and manipulation.
Then, when Ben found the first person who he could feel and connect with through the force, even though Snoke and Luke had abused and betrayed him - Ben still took the chance to reach out to Rey and be vulnerable with her. While interrogating an enemy, he took off his mask and revealed himself (something we only see him to for his father and when Snoke forces him to maliciously). In the middle of a war, under the thumb of the monster who has tortured him since forever, Ben was able hold Rey’s hand and tell her she wasn’t alone. He was still able to be kind. And because of that kindness, that connection, Ben found the courage to finally destroy his abuser and free himself.
Ben freed himself, and he did it out of compassion for and a need to protect Rey, not out of wrath or vengeance. If Ben were truly a creature of wrath, he would have killed Snoke before, but it was only when he had to see and hear and feel his soulmate be tortured by his own abuser that he found that courage. And yes, he did take Snoke’s place at first because that was the only way he knew how to protect himself. In his experience, people without power get hurt and that’s it. But even then, Ben was able to muster yet more strength to shed the armor that was Kylo Ren and stand with Rey unarmored against the very thing that has abused and tortured him since before he was born.
That took so much bravery and love and selflessness for Ben to stand there as himself, ready to fight his abuse and trauma head-on as Ben Solo. For him to admit he was hurt for the first time in the series. For him to crawl up a cliff with a badly broken leg out of love. For him to willingly give his very life force out of pure love. All of these things are incredible for Ben to have been able to do after all he had been through, these are more than deserving of reward. But TROS punished Ben for doing everything right, they proved that abusers always win in the end. Ben was going to survive until the last few edits. Everything we see was literally leading up to him surviving. This was Ben’s redemption, this was supposed to be him fighting for his new beginning and taking his first steps into the happiness and safety he earned, and should have had as a child, not a pointless struggle before succumbing to death:

But TROS told us, told traumatized and neurodivergent children who saw themselves in Ben, that it wasn’t good enough. That love isn’t good enough. That doing the right thing deserves to be punished. That children tainted by violence and abuse and darkness don’t deserve love and healing even when they earn redemption, even when they do everything in their power to do the right thing and be brave. The hopelessness of that is what broke me as a person. That is not what Star Wars is about. Star Wars is about redemption and love and hope; TROS was about cruelty covered up with a thin sheet of materialism and confused, poor storytelling.

Ben, stroking Rey's hair: You're so tiny and adorable
Rey: I could literally kill you in your sleep
Ben, with love in his eyes: I know!

Say what you want about TROS, but every single thing that Ben Solo does in that movie has me going like

(and yes, that includes the parts where he is technically “Kylo Ren”)

The ONLY THING that bothered me about The Kiss™️ (besides death literally .25 seconds later) is the way they filmed it. I would’ve liked to see a wider shot, and also from another angle as well. Hell maybe even a shot circling them. I want to see what their body language is like(for ReSeArCh, ok?). I want to see it from the other side. I want to see his nose squished against her face lol. I want to see him wrapping his arm around her instead of just his hand moving up in the corner of the screen, dammit. That’s all I want. And also for this shot to be the end of the movie, they kiss and the credits roll. Nothing else matters.

It’s been xxxx number of years and I still don’t get why people love and make excuses for Anakin but hate on Ben/Kylo so much for similar things that Anakin did? They’re both emo and did awful things but turned around in the end? Both had anger management issues, both were self-absorbed and obsessive? Anakin just had the benefit of a good animated series that fleshed out his character, which Ben doesn’t (YET, at least) since he’s new.
And I don’t know why but I do have a feeling that it’s also much easier for people to dislike him subconsciously because of his looks — he fits the brooding and unconventional-looking misfit much better than the classically-handsome Anakin played by Hayden. I mean there still are people calling Ben (and in turn, Adam) ugly online so there must be some truth to that being a reason.
