Honeybees live in colonies with one queen running the whole hive. Worker honeybees are all females and are the only bees most people ever see flying around outside of the hive. They forage for food, build the honeycombs, and protect the hive. #beekeeping #beekeepers #beefacts #honeybee #jaivikmonk_organic_farm_noida (at Noida) https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck8bTe2P5M2/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The fear of honey bees has an effect on their livelyhood and their populations. Threats to Honey Bees: Fear - "The most common concern about honeybees is bee stings. Honeybees are not aggressive by nature and are unlikely to sting. Only 0.4% of Americans report an allergy to insect stings in the U.S., and almost none of these are caused by honeybees." (JustFood.org)
Bumblebees done die when they sting! That's just a honey bee thing. Male bumblebees dont even have a stinger at all, and female bumblebees aren't very aggressive, so unless you go barging into their nest, you're likely safe!
We are partnering with @thehoneybeeconservancy for a memorial fundraiser to support native bee research and build a carpenter bee habitat on Governor's Island in memory of Beetrice! If you would like to donate please go to paypal.me/BeetriceMemorialFund to donate to this worthy cause! We are hoping to raise at least $1,000 to support a study coming in March of 2020 to catalogue the many species of native bees on Governor's Island. Understanding which species of bees exist on this island is a first step to conservation of our native bee populations. Raising $1,000 for this research project will not only allow The Honeybee Conservancy to study native bees, it will also allow them to install Beetrice's Air Bee 'n Bee in their native bee garden on Governor's Island. Many carpenter bees visit our space, and I'm sure many of them would love to make it their permanent dwelling. Reaching our stretch goal of $1,500 would allow us to install Libbee's Candy & Confectionary next door, where more carpenter bees will eventually call home. We look forward to honoring our Beetrice with this project, and hope you'll join us in doing so by donating at paypal.me/BeetriceMemorialFund (link in our bio for you Instagram folks) So, can we show our native bee friends what The Pipsqueakery is all about and raise some funds for the bees? P.S. If you live in the greater NYC area and you would like to donate your time to the study as a citizen scientist, reach out to [email protected] you can learn about citizen science training periods and opportunities! #bee #carpenterbee #sanctuary #rescue #love #beefacts https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz8OJwtn39-/?igshid=8sstyuaucv4k
Did you know these un-bee-leivable facts about honey? 🐝 Depending on the kind of flower from which the nectar is extracted, the taste, colour and aroma of the honey will vary. There is also a relationship between the colour and the flavour of the honey! Pale and clear honey have a soft, delicate taste, while honey with a dark colour tends to have a sharper, more defined taste. 🍯 Honey is the ONLY known food that includes ALL the substances necessary to sustain life, including enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and water. Honey has often been used as currency! Back in the 11th century, Germans held honey as a highly valued commodity. So much so that lords of Germany forced peasants to make payments to them in honey. But wait! There’s more! 💛 Honey is also the only food that contains “pinocembrin”, which is an antioxidant associated with improved brain functioning. 🤯 Shop Now: Call or WhatsApp: 94678-54678 Website: www.jaivikmonk.in #rawhoney #organichoney #jaivikmonk_organic_farm_noida #beefacts #honey #bee https://www.instagram.com/p/CipMEtDBiGo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
When it was warmer. It's still fairly cold in the morning and especially at night in Sydney but pretty soon we will start to feel the weather warm up again. Spring will then bring new plant growth and flowers. And the bees will be out again working and drinking from the dishes of shallow water around the apiary. . . . . . #tbt #beefacts #saveourbees #beemacro #antennae #honeybee #nature #savethebees #savebees #flowers #beekeeping #beekeeper #insect #flower #love #beehive #pollinators #garden #bugs #animals #apiary #pollen #entomology #art #hive #canon #beautiful #sydney (at Sydney, Australia)
Me and the bee!! 🐝 So today was like 65 degrees, in supposed Winter. There were soo many bees around my house (and meee). Maybe because I have some of the only flowers still in bloom on the block. Some bees actually #hibernate during the winter season. Some, like, #HoneyBees, will still be active during the winter despite temperatures (they actually live off the honey they've made). Some bee species all die off and the #QueenBee repopulates the hive. If honey bees run out of honey during winter, they starve to death. By working together ( in the spirit of #Ujima-collective work and responsibility) they can warm the hive up to 93 degrees farenheit. Bees arent typically out below 57 degrees farenheit and they typically can't fly under 55 degrees farenheit. #bees #BeesInWinter #BeeFacts #BeeHive #Kwanzaa #CollectiveWork #SaveTheBees #FeelsLikeSpring #MyBlackIsBeautiful #MomToBe #MamaToBe #WinterFlowers https://www.instagram.com/p/B6pAZiSAtf5/?igshid=vaassrvrfuvd
