He obviously loves that education, and is always, ALWAYS, searching for an excuse to learn more about dead America. And who better to learn from than a relic of the past? You! On the other hand, my Sole was never a vault dweller, so she knows next to nothing about those broken gizmos other than what scrap they'll produce. So in one scenario you have big bulk man exhausting you with curiosity, and in another he's literally brimming with information to teach you. Both work well in my opinion.

Literal big brother energy. That kind of changes if or when you admit to him that his ass is literally bigger than a star, but throughout your time serving with him it's very clear that he works well with a sibling-like relationship. You may see him as an older brother, or maybe you just hate him. I dunno man. But all-in-all, he's always the first one there. Always at your side ready to defend you from whatever your postapocalyptic world launches at you. He's almost as loyal as Dogmeat. Almost.

This man stands CLOSE. Sometimes he doesn't even realize it; he just feels at ease being near you (especially if you don't use power armor). He's real caught on that savior mentality. Somehow he's only convinced that you're safe if he's just feet from where you're standing. And don't get me started on firefights. This big booty military man will jump in front of you with no shits to give. You even land a couple shots on him by accident, but that's alright. He doesn't really feel it. He really should prioritize his own safety sometimes.

He never drinks if he can help it, but that's only because alcohol makes him giggly. He'll relax with a couple beers, but anything past that is dangerous for him. He simply doesn't like the embarrassment of completely switching personalities in front of his subordinates. Even you, believe it or not. He likes things "clean, by the book," blah blah. So many people are convinced that he lacks personality, but truthfully he just prefers to act tough. It makes him feel 10 ft tall.

He sleeps with a body pillow. 100% I will live by that statement. Think about it: he practically lives within a wall of steel and cushioned padding. He's more touch deprived than a goldfish. He probably can't recall the last time he genuinely felt a person, which isn't something he dislikes. There's moments when even a pat on the shoulder is too overwhelming for him. He wishes he enjoyed having that closeness with someone. There're many occasions where he longs for your arms to be encased around him or vice versa. He wants to love, but he doesn't exactly know how. So instead of touching you, he spams you with uplifting compliments and hugs his pillow in Dansey bliss.

He complains about rain and bodies of water enough to convince everyone he hates it, but what's interesting is when he's in your company. Walking around like a transformer all the time, he's always prepared for stormy weather. You however... ehhh. He doesn't like it when you get drenched (😫) so he'll immediately scan the surrounding area for shelter. If there is none, and depending on the direction of the wind, he'll situate himself to where you get wet (😫) to a minimum. He's like your personal hunky umbrella. Every once in a while, you grow confused over the fuss. You may enjoy rain, or at least tolerate it, but he still wouldn't give a damn. "It would be irresponsible of me, as your mentor, to allow you to catch a cold under these conditions." In other words, he's a big worrywart over your wellbeing. And he's more used to patching up battle wounds. A sickly fever? Not so much.

You'd think he would be better at knowing your whereabouts, but he definitely isn't. With his suit having so many blind spots and you being so low to the ground, he's constantly losing track of you; hence why he chooses to walk behind you. When you stop in Diamond City, you like to prank him a bit by slipping away and making him go in big brother panic mode. You've tried it in Goodneighbor once or twice, but it never works there. Once you're behind those walls, his eyes never leave you. Not once. He scolds you more harshly when you play games in that town.

He loves to feel useful, even with something mundane like reaching something up high for you or even hoisting you up through a broken ceiling or over a wall. He additionally likes to show off strength. He smashes through walls and doors like cardboard, and crushes just about anything under his gauntlets with ease. On the other hand, he loves it when you feel useful as well. Sure, he can count back dozens of times when he could've dislodged a safe door or tore the wires from a terminal to deactivate turrets, but instead he chose to step back and admire your handiwork. And when you succeed, he always boosts you with praise.

The only hack he uses to style his hair is mud, sweat, and grease. And it still looks flawless every damn time.

There's no way in hell he walks around with all that cake and authority and NOT have an aggressive fanbase on the Prydwen. That just ain't so. There's a whole line of women in their baldheaded glory begging for him to notice them, and the hilarious part is he never does. Heroic actions and deeds in honor of the Brotherhood are what yanks his immediate attention. He's also trained enough soldiers to tell the difference between talent, potential, and kissing up. He hates those sorts most of all.

Keep in mind what I said about his awkwardness with physical touch, because when he's actually starting out in a relationship, it is so over for him. At first he almost wishes you'd remain friends just so you wouldn't give him heart murmurs every 5 fucking minutes. He also grows more protective over you than ever before, but that isn't surprising. Give him a few weeks to settle into this new territory and he'll gradually adapt. You do your best to go at his pace, so instead of downright kissing him you peck him sweetly on the cheek. The more you do it the more he realizes just how much he adores it. Even now he still has a hard time expressing his feelings, so you have to study close for any cues he may give you. Somehow if you're just not skilled at reading him, he'll eventually get persistent enough to lean towards your level and sit jagged and redfaced for a while until you deliver.

It's funny to watch him try and squeeze into an elevator. He'll go the extra mile to search for an intact flight of stairs just so he won't look like a Jack in the Box. Watching him squeeze back out is even sillier. He has to position his shoulders and knees just right so that his pauldrons or helm won't get caught in the narrow doorframe. It mostly works, though only because of all the trial and error he's had to endure.

Another year gone.

Amidst all of the chaos, fandom has remained an oasis of calm and joy for me. Thank you to all of you, the readers and writers and artists, who keep this place alive. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year.

I wasn't very productive this year. But I tried.

Colour Grading, Insincerity, and Loki is right and Gabriel is wrong; a Lokiel Meta

It’s the big gun, it’s the mother lode of me ripping apart Unfinished Business frame by frame to feed my shipping and laying out all my thoughts on the matter clearly as can be so maybe I can sway some people sitting on the fence or at least give some context to those who see my posts and go “wtf” because they’re not viewing this through the lens of my insanity. Want to know why these guys haunt me? Here;

Credit where credit is due, the one thing I’ve always really liked about supernatural is how they use colour grading to tell the story, and it’s not really all that secretive that the Gabriel episodes look aesthetically like some of the best episodes because they colour them very specifically to set the tone for them;

Fun

Nonsensical

Insincere

The three big tells that something trickster is afoot in the episode, (and I apologise for the scuffed quality on some of these, I’m skating the tumblr upload rules).

It tells us that whatever is currently happening typically feels very real to those experiencing it, but is actually not at all. This is make believe. It’s a figment of Gabriel’s imagination that he’s whipped up at his own convenience to tell the story he wishes to impart upon the narrative. While this is obvious in the earlier season when they’re still shooting on film and using the dark overlays to create a spooky ambiance, it still follows through to the end for Gabriel until he puts down the trickster label and picks back up the archangel one and officially joins the Winchesters bringing him into the same dark coloured world that we’re used to viewing. There’s a sadness in it, that Gabriel went from all these bright colours to essentially having his spirit snuffed out by Asmodeus, but it gives us a very clear point to reference when things are real and when they’re make believe.

Obviously Gabriel is a liar, we’ve all known that to be true since his very first appearance- but there’s one incident that I talk about often that bothers me deeply but I’ve never really explained why.

Gabriel tells this story three times in a pretty short time span- short enough for Dean to remember and call him out on it in the moment, and every time he tells it the story is altered ever so slightly.

He’s always been a very unreliable narrator, but this one was particularly on the nose and when it comes to “continuity errors” Gabriel is always aware of them, he does it on purpose because he wants to get caught. We should ask the question, why did it take you three attempts for us to hear this?

He tells his final iteration of the story in grand bright colours, telling feats of his sexual exploits and how good he is at cards, “and then everyone clapped and cheered for me” and then Loki Judas betrays him because Gabriel is so cool and his brothers are so tough and Loki was scared witless and hoping to avoid bloodshed blah blah blah…

Here’s what the real world looks like in comparison to Gabriel’s little fantasy he’s got running here-

This matches the rest of supernatural, this is a realistic portrayal of events through the eyes of Sam and Dean. This is the bitter reality Gabriel is avoiding with his fantastical little displays; he’s a broken little man who is hurt, injured, and scared.

So, Loki tells another variation of this story, yes? Gabriel was the betrayer here, not Loki. Gabriel ran out recklessly and while passing world saving information to the Winchesters, both saving the world AND the vast majority of Loki’s family, he cannot convince Odin to leave and he dies in battle (and like, he would’ve gone to Valhalla can we just unclench a little?). That is why Loki chooses to damn Gabriel to Hell with a very reckless move to attempt to take down an archangel, sell him to a demon, and then cross his fingers and pray his bestie- the 6th most powerful thing in all of creation ever- doesn’t break free from this pitiful demon eventually and come looking for him. But the environment tells another story, look;

It’s the return of the high vibrancy filter, because this room isn’t real, Loki isn’t real, and neither is the story he’s telling. What are the tricksters, if not liars and showboats?

There’s a huge lack in vulnerability which is what they’re both trying to paint over in these scenes to make themselves cool, to make themselves the victim, to make themselves untouchable. Loki tells a half cocked story about the archangel bastard who took his father, completely detached from any real sort of attachment to Gabriel or Odin- even says himself that he hates Odin! And in a story where we know the ending is Gabriel at the hands of Asmodeus he spends ninety nine percent of the story talking about pornstars. They cannot be vulnerable with these outsiders watching them, they also don’t seem to want to admit to themselves what the crux of the issue is here.

They both want to be the ultimate victim of the situation, they’re painting these half done stories trying to convince an audience (Sam and Dean) that doesn’t care that they are right and the other is wrong—

Until they meet each other;

You can lie to everyone, but you can’t lie to yourself.

We’re back, grounded in reality in this moment when they come face to face with each other, the lighting darkens and becomes gritty once more meaning all facades are down and what’s transpiring here between them is without tricks, and there’s an honor in that when it is a battle between two very clever tricksters who could make this endlessly complicated if they wanted to. When they fight, Gabriel is next to silent (listening, or trauma response? You can decide) and Loki does all his talking for Gabriel and Gabriel alone. They have no one to impress here, they sent the Winchesters on a fools errand to have this moment alone creating a tense intimacy where Loki shreds Gabriel’s facades and calls him out for what he truly is and lays out his deep rooted fears and secrets bare, letting us as the outside party they’re unaware of know that what the two of them were here wasn’t some ordinary friendship or half cocked deal out of desperation, but a real and honest bond between two beings terrified, alone, and looking for safety and someone to confide in. They’re each others secret keepers. Long time confidants. Their most trusted. The reason both of them ran to begin with, in a plan that would involve them wrapping themselves so tightly around the other they’d become one in all ways but physical, and promise to keep each other and that secret until death do them part.

It is bloody, and messy, and Loki has no real way of winning this fight because he cannot hurt Gabriel in any way that matters because he’s an archangel and whether he takes damage or not he will live because of the way he was made, only one of them is killable here and only one of them has any intention of killing the other and it’s not Loki. It’s never been Loki. Ever faithful Loki.

They made a vow, and maybe it was childish and unrealistic but that’s what the two of them are by nature are they not? Fickle, childish, and endlessly devoted. To their families, to their lovers, to their fathers, to each other.

Loki should run at this point, if he has any intention of wanting to live. He’s not stupid, he knows Gabriel better than anyone else in the world and Gabriel acknowledges this by how hurt he is emotionally by the way Loki talks about him and the secrets they’ve passed over the thousands of years they’ve known one another. He’s smart enough to know sentiment won’t save him here, it didn’t save his sons, Sleipnir tried that already and it failed spectacularly. Gabriel is here to kill him, and when you take into consideration the wild power imbalance here in this battle what Loki is doing is essentially laying his head down on the chopping block for Gabriel. He’s a smart creature to survive this long, he could be gone if he really wanted to be just like the many times we watched Gabriel disappear.

He doesn’t.

To me, the crux of their story here is abandonment. You left me. Gabriel made the choice to break his vows, and chase after a family he left behind and even though YES it was for a noble reason that is still nothing when it was a personal stab in the back to Loki who also left his family behind to run away with Gabriel and didn’t go for Odin even though the call was put out to Loki to join the gods for the evening.

Loki didn’t go for his family, but Gabriel did.

Loki didn’t go to save his father in an event they were both invited to, Loki had the opportunity to go and save Odin and he chose his bond to Gabriel over saving him. Gabriel discarded his vow and went anyway, and Odin died.

Gabriel betrays Loki, and it’s not that Odin died, it’s that Loki was willing to sacrifice the opportunity to save him and Gabriel couldn’t say the same for his own family. Odin died for nothing, when Loki could’ve been there the whole time to come get him, and he was robbed of that opportunity while Gabriel went behind his back to do exactly that for his family.

Loki was faithful to his own detriment, and Gabriel was not.

Gabriel is punished fairly in Loki’s eyes because this isn’t just about some deadbeat dad (who chained Loki in a cave to torture him). This is a slight of a much more intimate nature. This was a betrayal of the worst kind.

Gabriel is unfaithful.

Everyone knows that Asmodeus is the demon Prince of lust, but in a little more detail that’s not entirely what makes him up. The cardinal sins are the worst because they are what you inflict upon others, an upon your very soul. Lust is something inherent to the condition of just being alive, but the sin is in the act of hurting others and yourself, so the vast majority of what Asmodeus is imagined ruling over is the adulterer, he is most often the one depicted punishing the unfaithful. Loki wasn’t just looking for a way to hurt Gabriel for the sake of inflicting pain, the trickster is never like that. The trickster doesn’t strike just to maim. Loki is sending a very explicit message to Gabriel by giving him to Asmodeus of all people;

“You were unfaithful.”

— Okay, maybe it’s wrong to say that Loki had every right to do what he did because it was definitely still A LOT to do to someone, but it’s far more understandable when the emotional weight of Gabriel’s crime is made clearer. You probably shouldn’t torture anyone ever for any reason— I’m avidly anti-torture— but dick move Gabriel…

And look, yeah they both sleep around and invite porn stars and hookers to the hotel rooms and what not and I certainly will not hang my ‘Gabriel is a bad person here’ hat on the human morality of monogamy because I think it’s shallow and a disservice to the kind of bond the two of them actually have, but there’s an extra added pain in it that Gabriel also turns up for his ex girlfriend in this situation who is willing to betray him for basically a can of pop but not for Loki who will let Odin die to protect Gabriel.

Gabriel comes back, and he offers no apologies because he isn’t capable of learning his lesson, he is selfish by nature (Also the inherent message of the nature of Hell and torture being one that is wholly unnecessary and cruel, punishment never breeds change internal or societal, you can’t change and reform under immense duress it just further traumatises and keeps you locked in the cycle, the system of Hell shouldn’t exist period). Instead, Gabriel comes to kill Loki’s boys so he can watch them struggle and die first before Gabriel delivers the final blow to the man himself. Would you want to live after all of that either, entirely alone without your family or the one who loved and understood you the most- or so you thought?

And could Gabriel live with it either, knowing the punishment didn’t fit the crime but that Loki had a point (see script) and he wasn’t innocent either and it’s cost him everything because now he gets to look at what it was he saved and it’s a brother who seeks him out in the dark just to torment him about his abuse?

And the story ends circular here, devastating me personally even further by twisting the knife.

Gabriel ran away because his family was so horribly broken, and Loki took off with him to escape his torture. Together they made the plan to become one and Gabriel could use Loki’s face and name to hide among the pagans, and his archangel might to take all the hits being thrown Loki’s way and keep him hidden, because no one’s going to fuck with the god who has the freaky new upgrade and just escaped the slammer. Slowly over time what was Gabriel and what was Loki had melded into two very similar personalities, a little different based on their life experiences, but still so the same they were indistinguishable to everyone but each other.

The core difference between them is their life experiences.

Until Gabriel comes back, tail between his knees and asks Loki to please take him back and let him resume playing the ‘Loki’ character, and Loki says sure, and he binds him and and subjects him to torture at the hands of Gabriel’s very own snake in the cave. Mouth stitched shut. “Be me, then,” He says. “Be me in my entirety.”

And Gabriel comes back after this, bitter and angry and he picks up a weapon and he starts knocking Loki’s family down piece by piece, stalking them through the night no matter how far they run, to make sure Loki’s family is as broken as his own before he delivers the final blow to end his life.

Loki’s family as shattered as Gabriel’s, Gabriel as shattered as Loki himself. Fully one in death.

How can you say that everything is possible, we are unlimited, blah blah blah if clearly there's no proof? I'm not trying be disrespectful or rude in anyway but it's hard not to be skeptical of a concept that teaches nothing is impossible, meanwhile there's no actual evidence. We would probably be seeing people flying around, having powers, growing wings and a bunch of billionaires if life was so easy and nothing was impossible. Again, not trying to be rude but like I'm trying to be realistic. I don't want to get my hopes up on everything being possible, when in reality I'm just being delusional LMAFOOOO

It's understandable when you've lived as an ego and you've been taught that there's an objective physical world with rules and laws which make certain things "impossible", but it's up to you to take a leap of faith. When you understand Non Dualism, it can be argued that the real delusion is believing yourself to be this one limited human living in a world, when it was you that created everything in the first place. Everything is possible because of you.

You can't really say there's no evidence when there's 'manifesting success stories' all over the Internet. Thousands (maybe millions) of people have taken a leap of faith and changed their lives.

Then you have Tumblr where people have the most "illogical" success stories like getting superpowers, shifting to different "fictional worlds", manifesting personal fairies that grant them wishes, and bringing back dead family members. You think they're all lying?

The CIA even released documents suggesting that we live in a simulation and everything is controlled by our thoughts. Science is always evolving and has proved it. So the only thing standing in your way rn is you.

{oliver wood x reader}

Oliver was standing outside the changing rooms with his teammates after just giving one of his long speeches about teamwork and victory and all the hard work they’ve done blah blah blah… At least that what it sounded like to most of his teammates. Particularly his fellow 7th years, having to hear his long-winded speeches more than anyone else on the team. After so many, they all start to sound the same.

Though his fellow Gryffindors get it. If they win this quidditch game, they’re in the finals for the cup. Which has been Oliver’s dream since he got on the team. Slytherin has won the cup seven years in a row, and he is determined to break that streak. They’re playing against Ravenclaw today. Not necessarily a hard opponent but it wouldn’t be too easy either. They have good chasers, and Ravenclaw’s seeker, Cho Chang, is a more graceful flyer than most.

The players were just talking amongst themselves waiting for the call to head into the pitch. Oliver was standing outside seeming to be waiting for something as his eyes looked off to the side every now and then. Oliver and his girlfriend have a routine before every one of his games since they started dating. Y/N would greet him right outside the quidditch changing rooms, just right before they were to go on to wish him well and to give him a good luck kiss. But the girl was nowhere to be found.

“It’s almost time.” He thought. His anxiety growing more and more by the second. He needed to see her. He needed to feel her presence to put him at ease.

So, what if he’s playing against her house? That shouldn’t matter right? There’s no way she wouldn’t show up for him. She’s going to show up.

She has to.

After what seemed like a millionth time looking over, he finally spotted someone wearing blue and silver robes walking towards him. Oliver let out a sigh of relief. Worry leaving his body replaced with a kind of excitement and love that just makes your stomach flip. Oliver sees his beautiful girlfriend smile and wave at him as he heads towards her, meeting her halfway.

“You were cutting it a bit close there leannan” he said as his arms wrapped around your waist while yours automatically went around his shoulders, fingers intertwining behind his neck. His term of endearment, though you hear it quite often, doesn’t fail to give you butterflies.

“I’m sorry my love but I had to secure my seats at the Ravenclaw section with Pen” You answered with a small pout that you knew Oliver couldn’t resist. He studied your face just for a quick second before awarding you with his smile.

“That’s alright. You’re here now.” He assured, leaning down to get his long awaited good luck kiss. It all would’ve been perfect had you not leaned away from him as his lips was just about to touch yours. He pulled back and you almost laughed at the shock and confusion written all over his face. He couldn’t believe you just deprived him of his kiss. His kiss he’s been waiting all day for. The audacity.

“You seriously didn’t think you were going to get a good luck kiss from me today, do you?” You asked. Your boyfriend didn’t say anything but just looked at you like your question was the dumbest question he has ever heard.

“Ollie, you’re playing against my house.” You explained. “Why would I want to wish you good luck?”

“Leannan, please don’t do this to me.” He whined.

“I’m sorry Ollie but I want you to lose.” You shrugged, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Oliver’s mouth opened wide in shock along with his eyes. He couldn’t believe you just said that.

“I can’t believe you just said that.” He let out. “How could you say that to your own boyfriend? The love of your life?”

“I can say it because the love of my life is trying to beat my house’s chance of getting the quidditch cup.”

“Are you seriously putting our houses over our love?” he asked, feigning hurt.

“Are YOU ready to put our love over our houses?”

Silence.

Damn.

You got him. You got him good.

“Leannan, pleeeaase don’t do this to me.” He whined again causing you to laugh at last resort attempt to win you over.

“You're really not going to give me my kiss?” Oliver asked again, wanting to be really sure.

Your fingers rubbed the nape of his neck providing little comfort as you shook your head no. He groaned placing his forehead on yours.

He looked at you again and asked, “well if you’re not here to wish me good luck, then why are you here?”

“Well.. I know who my boyfriend is. Just wanted to remind him to be safe and to please try to not get himself hurt.” She answered, playfulness out of her eyes, now filled with worry.

“That’s very sweet of you. I’m sure he’ll appreciate that.” He said, giving you a reassuring smile.

“I’m serious Oliver.” His government name coming out of your mouth. “I know how you get. I want you to be able to achieve your dream, but it’s not worth it if you’re in the hospital wing as a result.”

Sensing the seriousness and worry on your tone, he conceded.

“Okay. Okay. I promise to be safe and to not get too injured.” He said, kissing your nose for extra assurance.

“Thank you.”

You both turn your head toward the Pitch as Lee started his announcements.

“You better go.” You told him, pushing him lightly away from you. “Go out there and suck.”

Instead of being offended he just gave you a smirk and started walking backwards towards his teammates.

“Last chance to give me my kiss angel.”

You glared at him playfully while shaking your head.

“I hope you lose.” You said in a sing song voice, finally turning around and walking away before you break your urges and actually give him his kiss. Instead of pretending to be offended, he just laughed to himself amazed at how competitive you truly are, even if you’re not on the quidditch team.

“Alright ladies, lads, and pals.” He turned around facing his quidditch team. “We have a game to win.” He flashed them with cocky smile and his team knew that he was in the Ollie Zone. A term you created when nothing can get in between Oliver and his victory.

anyway i have a silly guy i wish to share i don't think i've talked about him much at all to anyone except for my friends but i love him and i figured i should bring him into the world because i am normal about him so. his name is basalt he's a version of murder,, and so like.

basically, in my main 'au' of sorts, murder is besties with reaper [my reaper is nicknamed thanatos so yeah :3] because after he actually managed to beat the player [the player gave up 💀💀], he was just kinda. left alone in dusttale until thanatos showed up to reap the dead of dusttale :3 now usually, normal Guys™ can't see him but sometimes, rarely, those with high LV can and murder just so happens to have very high LV so he can see thanatos he sees him just like walking around and he's kinda like 'huh. that's sus,,,' bc he killed everyone and WHY is there a dude first he just brushes it off as a hallucination because he is VERY aware that he's insane and schizophrenic but then he keeps seeing him just about everywhere so one day he decides to check it out and he goes up to thanatos and is just like 'yo. dude. who tf are you' and then thanatos is obviously surprised that he's been noticed so he's just kinda like 'oh yea so uhhh,,, im the grim reaper or something,,,' and murder's like 'wha- so like. why are u here' and thanatos is just like 'doign my job' anywya blah blah blah they talk for a while and then thanatos leaves but then he comes back occasionally and every time, murder finds him and has a conversation with them and soon enough thanatos starts coming back even after he's finished his work and he becomes besties with murder :D but also like. thanatos doesnt go back to his au anymore cuz he's been coded out of it since he's away from it so often, but thats a story for another day anyway, they soon become like therapists for each other thanatos tells murder about interwsting things that happen while on the job and also about his relationship struggles [thanatos has SO much angst and i absolutely love him for it] and murder tells thanatos about how fucked up he is also there's an alternate timeline in which murder eventually gets cursed alastor cat as a pet but that is not in this timeline [don't ask, it was a silly thought my friend and i had bc my headcanon murder had a cat named alastor {THAT WAS BEFORE I WAS EVER IN THE HH FANDOM BTW} ] and so yeah they're therapist besties but then uh. thanatos dies [i havent figured out how yet, i will eventually]

and that's when basalt exists! so basically uh. murder was just kinda handed thanatos's powers and job and thanatos TOLD him this would happen if he ever were to die, since he basically has to choose an heir to hand his power to [and he has a shit ton of kids, but all of his kids hate him so he didn't want to put that on them] which this is how basalt finds out about thanatos's death and he's just kinda shocked because how the fuck does the grim reaper die buuut he eventually uh. just accepts it and becomes rhe grim reaper he has no friends until further notice im gonna draw him but i made him in gacha [yes i am a gacha kid, cry about it] anyway

​​It's so lovely to be able to share your work in a community forum and interact with readers who appreciate the free entertainment. However, unfortunately, some readers appreciate it a little too much and decide they're going to repost it without your consent.

RUDE!

I've seen instances where someone will take a fanfic and change the character names to another fandom, or just straight up wholesale copy a fic from one platform to another as if it were their own. This, and I cannot stress this enough, is jerk-like behavior.

Whether you're an author or not, you still might be wondering, "well what's so bad about this? After all it's a form of flattery and exposure." Some may even argue that because it's not technically "original" it's not plagiarism, blah blah blah.

But let me tell you, it's very bad, straight up rude, and very uncool! Here's why:

It takes away the protections offered by Archive of Our Own/The Organization for Transformative Works such as freedom from censorship and litigation. 

It removes the ability to tag properly and protect/warn readers

Editing/updating or removing your own work is not possible. It may be outdated or you may not wish for it to be in the world anymore, as is your right as the creator.

It can prevent authors from publishing their own work. If it already exists online, this can affect your copyright claims as an author.

Is my fanfic affected?

Start with Google Search Search your username/handle, your fic titles, and select lines/passages from your fic. Sample query: site:<site>.com "search term"

Plagiarism checker Paste a passage from your fic into https://www.grammarly.com/plagiarism-checker

Light Novel Paradise/GoodNovel The latest ridiculousness comes via a site known as lightnovelparadise.com (LNP) which  appears to have been abandoned. It has retooled as GoodNovel, both as a site and an app. It's functionally unusable, and has no support or contact information apart from banner ads redirecting you to the new app. There are many fandoms and likely thousands of works copy/pasted in here, so this is not just a one-fandom issue! 

Here are a few methods you can use to search LNP since the user interface is basically unusable and the search bar doesn't work. Mobile gives you a slightly better view if you want to scroll through the hundreds of works under each fandom.

I didn't want to ask something you've already answered before, so I searched your blog but only found one brief mention about why you didn't watch it. Cool :) But i'm just curious, have you seen some of the avatrice gifs from Warrior Nun? Do they seem like a ship that might appeal to you if you had been able to finish the show? I had resisted them for awhile but finally decided to check out some of their scenes and yea, i definitely understand it now

Anon, trust me when I say I have been made fully aware of a) the existence of Warrior Nun, b) the existence of Avatrice, and c) the fact that it is full of Complicated Pseudoreligious Gay Yearning and d) that there are gifs.

I have lots of mutuals that are having a really nice time liking Warrior Nun, and I wish them all the best? It is just super not my thing, for no real reason that I can pinpoint, it's just - blah to me.

(Actually this is not true, I have a hair trigger for fake gore and there is a shot early in the pilot where like a magic thing just fucking shreds through someone's torso in visceral CGI blood spraying everywhere detail and to be honest no lesbians are worth that to me.)

I'm not sure if I'd like them outside of the context of the show, because for me those are the same thing. I don't ever get into ships just through cut scenes, I have to dive into the world those characters are in to connect.

I am still deep in the Willow hole (wocka, wocka) and will be for quite a while, because the writer's strike isn't getting any overer and it ticks literally every one of my narrative boxes as though a five year old mashed all the buttons on the elevator to my heart.

The things that are doing it for me for Willow are:

the total lack of a modern setting, so I don't have to figure out how to reconcile the new media trend of pretending all things are set in a COVID Never Happened AU despite the fact that it is the crushing shadow looming behind all of our realities, the cognitive dissonance gives me hives

(do i want dumb tv shows to tackle COVID absolutely not but it's weird that we're just like yeah in this show it's 2023 and the past 3 years were exactly like 2019 was don't uhhh worry about it)

like it's just so fucking weird IT'S SO FUCKING WEIRD and i know some of this is production cycles but we were watching the last movie in the To All The Boys series and she graduates in 2020 and I could not get it out of my head the choice!!! Like that year and date will not be indelibly linked to A Time and yet I also see how you can't change that story to include COVID and also I know how media timelines work but it is so fucked up WHY

Hm. Since I’m disappointed with totk’s plot because it’s only showing a very one sided “evil looking man is evil” and “the kingdom with a fancy (admittedly very cool looking) llama man from space as king” with no extra context. So you know what? I now see all of the memories we see as something from Zelda’s perspective, it is her tears anyways. So because Zelda see Ganon as irrevocably evil, we see all of the memories portraying it that way.

It’s totally not because Nintendo wanted to take the safe route and try to follow the formula instead of doing something different. Yes totaltally. Or that they focused on the mechanics and decided to just put out a mediocre storyline because they didn’t want to delay it any longer because of the hype. The lack of time is totally not why the previous sages were so 1 dimensional. (Sarcasm)

They could have spent a year or 2 on the story and I wouldn’t have minded :(

Those are the only 2 lines that differ from the rest of the previous sages. I’m just going to imagine that the previous sages aren’t really the previous sages but like a will they left behind, highly edited one too.

I wish I can see a story written exploring the Gerudo side of things Or anything to make it less black and white. ANYTHING.

An example to fulfill my fantasies:

Link finds a Poe soul > it can talk and tells Link the other side of the war and why Ganon became what he is blah blah blah > Link questions what he’s been told > Link finds more Poe souls that can speak and question some more > Link brings it up to Zelda > Zelda wonders why Link questions what he has been shown because from what she has seen Rauru and Sonia are beloved and loving and would never do anything wrong. Maybe she did some questionable things herself in the name of “doing the right thing” > queue Link having a crisis, wondering what and why the hell this whole conflict started, Link distancing from Zelda because of said questionable things and so on.

I’m just fulfilling my fantasy here.

Ok well after how much i complained in my first post about how terribly portrayed our girl was in early games, shows and comics let's talk about how that is changing little by little since the most radical change of all! Oh dear... I'm going to speak specifically about her and not the show itself because that deserves it's own full post about it, you know what I'm talking about right?

You bet when the time comes I'm going to complain A LOT about those two really wronged characters 😢😢😢 but that will be later, is our pinky baby girl time:

So technically sonic lost world came before Sonic boom and Amy didn't behave like her obnoxious self but she had TOO little participation so I'm not counting it and then here comes the big change:

Ok before anything... Lest talk about the design... I have... Very mixed feelings... I genuinely like the change from red to fucsia but... The dress is weird: this freaking show and it's obsession with bandages everywhere! They are supposed to represent a combative sporty look? 🤦🤦 White Bandages used as a belt? So tacky, purple bandages over her white gloves with the ring bracelets? Tacky, tacky... That weird dress that resembles the design of a raincoat without hoodie and sleeves... Eeeee is just.. I'm not convinced about the buttons... And that style doesn't quite fit with the outfit in general and uffffff the shoes... In general they are ugly and the shocks that are exactly like the purple bandages? Like if you go with bandages why not all the way? Why put long shocks that resembles the arms purple bandages instead? I don't get it! Well Amy Rose is supposed to be a girly fighter but even though she is using femenine colors and shape she still looks pretty tomboyish in my opinion so the looks were -10 points 🙅 buuuuuuut her personality is another thing: her crush on Sonic is not showed anywhere in the game, only in the show and is put as a secret she completely denies but is obvious for the viewers (i mean here sonamy is totally canon lol lol lol) , another thing is that is absolutely impossible to accept she is 12, is just absurd! Also she is bossy, sarcastic, second most intelligent character after tails (though emotionally she is smarter) a cute things lover, artist, likes healthy food, she is so caring, has still her bad temper and she is actually the most mature and responsible character in a mother hen sense...

I could say yeap she is Amy but not quite Amy Amy... She lacked of something and at the same time had too much of other something? You know what I mean, cause I really don't know how to explain it... 😂😂 But the point is she had a good reception: an independent Amy with her own thing who is part of the team, is there for a reason beyond "I'm here cause I love sonic and I was following him" or "help sonic I've been kidnapped" blah blah she shows up her playable skills being an acrobatic character with a fair power ability with her hammer (actually in Sonic adventure she was already like that but sonic boom made a reminder) so I'm going to assume after this, SEGA decided to finally change her stupid Sonic stalker joke and give her the update we all wanted! What Amy was supposed to be always and then we got Sonic Forces Amy, we didn't get to see as much as we wished but we could already see a change! Taking an important role alongside Knuckles and she didn't jump straight to sonic like she would in other games! And we'll see how she'll be portrayed in the next games but I'm being positive!! As for other representations let's talk now about who is in my opinion the supreme Amy Rose we deserved!

IDW COMICS AMY!!!! Who is a mix of our original Amy + boom Amy!!!

Long life the PINK QUEEN!! Goddess!! She could break in half a piece of mountain with her hammer!!! Expert in giving a boost physically and mentally to everyone!!

This girl still had an unapologetical crush on Sonic she doesn't hide (unlike in Sonic boom) and Sonic knows but still she gives him space and had her own thing! Which makes him be more comfortable around her and wanting her company! (Like in Sonic boom) She is a capable fighter, an amazing caring friend! And you know she got a long way in the comics, i hated so much how she was 8 and used a magic ring to look 12? WTF WAS THAT? So cringe! But joder I'm so glad we are past this: 👇👇

Seriously, in the end no matter what Sally haters said Amy and her were friends and never got in the way of each other but this?👆👆 Is absolutely pathetic and I hated cause my girl isn't pathetic 😤😤😤 and that joke was unnecessary! Come on ! She canonically respects their relationship but they make her do this shit? Fufff well everything got better after the reboot, she improved so much i fondly remember her story helping knuckles and being an absolutely sweet supporting sister with him.

Still to me the best comics with the absolutely best characters are IDW comics with little little exceptions and IDW Amy is undoubtedly the Amy i love the most and I want to see everywhere... And the Amy the movie writers should be inspired by to make Amy Rose movie version!😍😍😍

Cause ladies and Gentlemen i want to see the main four together in Movie version! I can't wait!!!No matter how independent Amy is and also has her own team Rose she will always be the strong lady of this group!!♀️💓💓

Hey everybody today, let's dive into the discussion of sexuality! yeah yeah, i wanna talk about the cosmo cover. it's a little more than a big deal to me. and you know what? i'm really excited about it. to the general public, cosmo magazine is either a) a woman's obsession or b) a woman's demise -- honestly, either of the two options equal out to be the same damn thing! the media clearly has our attention. it's easy to let all the images of all these godlike looking women whisper to us how we think we're supposed to look. it's like "here look at my BOOBS! don't you wish you had these?" "more guys will like you if you do it THIS WAY!" "get this figure" blah blah blah spend all your time, energy, and money on becoming the world's idea of ''sexy"... and you know what? it's never gonna change. as much as i tell myself i don't care and i wear whatever i want... there will always be those moments when i'm at the check out line at target and i see some gorgeous person on the cover of any ol rag... and i'm like "ugh, is that how it's gotta be!?" only to realize that... next month, that girl on the cover is gonna be me. 

WHAT A HYPOCRITE RIGHT?!?!

noooo. here's the thing. my #1 goal when the band began was to make myself invisible. not only did i not want to be the focal point, i wanted to be UNSEEN! and honestly, it never made a difference. i've turned down a lot of magazine covers. i specifically remember turning down Blender mag when i turned 19. and you know what? no one ever knew. it never made people focus on me any less. and it never mattered. so this time i'm taking a different approach. all 3 of us in Paramore have our own roles. and finally i will accept mine. i'm going to be okay with being a "powerful female". and if that's what it is... i'm going to use that role to make a difference.  here's the plan. here's my course of action. i WILL be myself. i WILL grow up. and i most definitely WILL find the time in my own life to be SEXY if i feel like it. who wrote the rules? who said that a girl that lives in this same tshirt and jeans nearly every day won't wanna wear pumps and a short skirt tomorrow? the heart that's underneath the clothes is still the same. because to me, it's not about using sex as a weapon. it's about how i feel. somedays i straight up feel like wearing sweats. other days, more confident days.. i'm like... DUDE WHO NEEDS CLOTHES!? ok well, i'm not that extreme but hopefully you see my point. if you are a girl, i think you'll understand all of these words just fine. you know those mornings you get out of the shower and you're drying your hair in your underwearsss and you realize you finally don't care that you have that scar on your leg? or that your skin is so pale that sometimes in bad light you can see your veins? ... or when your skin keeps breaking out and you're like "today, i simply do not give a f***!" those are the liberated moments that i try to hold on to. and i'm hoping by seeing my crazy mug on a magazine cover... some girl who's having a not particularly liberated day will think to herself that the MAY cover looks just a little different than the usual cosmo cover and hopefully they can even be inspired. no, i don't think i'm some kind of saving grace that's going to change the magazine world and the lies that we believe in the headlines every day. but i do know that i NEVER ever thought of myself as conventionally beautiful nor sexy. and only just recently did i ever even begin to accept how my looks differ from other people's whom i admire. i'm hoping that the more a magazine will take a chance on a girl like me, the more a girl will have a frickin chance in hell to be UNIQUE, powerful, strong in her weaknesses, confident in her flaws. because that's who i'm trying to become.

Which villain do you like?

Ooooh i like a lot of villains! Garmadon, Morro, and Harumi are all obvious answers, of course, i mean those are i think the top 3 fandom faves. If i had to rank them id say Harumi is my favorite out of the three, because i find her rawness so compelling. Like, shes what Lloyd couldve become if he hadnt gotten a proper support system, and thinking about how she and Lloyd are such incredible foils for each other makes me wanna start biting things. Shes so messed up and i love that about her. Part of me wants her to get therapy but the rest of me wants to see how much worse she can get.

So i guess, if you forced me to choose just one villain to call my absolute favorite, id say Harumi. But i feel bad about snubbing all the other delightful villains in this show! I gotta hand it to Ninjago, they really know how to craft a dazzling rogues gallery.

As for underappreciated/underrated villains i love:

Nadakhan. He is SO slimy, and he makes me SO uncomfortable, but honestly thats what makes him work as a villain think. Some Ninjago villains are lovable, tragic, or sympathetic, but hes just a horrible person and youre rooting for his downfall the whole time and its awesome. Also - sky pirate genie who becomes a pirate to compensate for how he can only grant other peoples wishes but never his own, deciding to take by force that which he cannot have, is such a great concept. Really his whole characterization, motivation, and general aesthetic are all very solid, and its a shame Skybound ended up as....messy, as it was. Because the season brings up some amazing themes, characters, and plot lines, but doesnt execute them as well as they deserve.

Aspheera. Not a lot of depth to her, but idk i just love her energy. Shes just my silly little war criminal and i find the pettiness between her and wu delightful

The Mechanic. I 100% support the theory that he was one of those background pirates on Captain Soto's ship who made a life for himself in the modern world by working for Chen. Idk im a sucker for characters who are tangentially woven into the plot - hes there, and the ninjas' actions have direct consequences on his life that turn him into a far more personal enemy. Also, i think the Mechanic should be a Pixal villain. Honestly i think she deserves her own personal villain just in general - poor girl deserves a nemesis 😭😭- and i think the Mechanic fits well into that position. Also, him becoming a major antagonist in Prime Empire and Crystalized was such a satisfying payoff imo. Hes rising up the criminal ranks, im so proud of him. My horrible guy, off to torture nindroids. They grow up so fast

Miss Demeanor. Is she really a villain? I dont care, shes wonderful. Shes got a fantastic vibe and design. Also, "blah blah blah - FIREBALL!" lives in my head rent-free. She honestly deserves more love and i will die on that hill. Shes not a main villain but shes the main villain of my heart and thats what matters.

Actually i change my mind, Miss Demeanor should be Pixal's nemesis instead so they can have rivalry tension. Think Detective Conan vs Kaito Kid type of frenemy action here. Also i just??? Think they would play off each other really well? Lego please hire me so i can write a Pixal focus season where she has funky lil nemesis rivalry with Miss Demeanor. I can make it happen. It would be amazing, you know itd be amazing.

2015 June 18th - FIFA World Cup

You were finally getting the hang of school in Seoul

The only person you still talked to back home beside your mother was Jiyeon

Jiyeon had cried to you a month ago over FaceTime that Jooheon was cheating on her

It had been the one time you reached out to him to get his side of the story

The next weekend, he had driven the 2 hours to Jiyeon’s University to apologize to her in person and just be around her for those two days

They happened to be on video call with you as you all watched the Soccer World Cup live from New Zealand

Jooheon was partially paying attention as he was packing for his visit to go see Jiyeon tomorrow night

Yeah, the reason SS and even some SNS insist Sakura was important to Sasuke was because Sasuke said "I don't want to lose more of my precious comrades" after telling Naruto to take Sakura and flee, and because he thanked her, making people think Sakura did something important to him worth thanking. I don't see her being that important to him, he leaves her without any heartbreak, very nonchalantly. He said thank you to reject her politely and to leave on good terms. Kishimoto never bothered to make Sasuke think of her or be affected by her during team 7 reunions, which should be enough of a hint.

Heheh. Yeah, it's pretty clear whatever camaraderie or comradeship Sasuke felt for Sakura in part one was over when she confessed to him in such a self absorbed manner when he is leaving Konoha.

He says - I knew it, you would never change.

What this means is that he tried to get along with her in hopes that she would change and improve as a result. Given how she was with him, and ignorant, self important things she said to him in the beginning of the manga. We know Sasuke is a character who is very upfront about confronting people in very clear terms. It's not in his character to be evasive or to dilly dally. So when he saw that it was all just Sakura's facade, he tells her so.

Sakura starts that interaction in a balanced way but then, when she sees it's not having an effect on Sasuke and he is still about to leave, she reverts back to her original self absorbed persona. Because why would Sasuke stay for her? He had already told her during the chuunin exams that his objectives had nothing to do with her. It's his fight, his burden to bear and we also know that Sakura is delusional enough to think she is important enough for him when she is not. This is underscored even more acutely in part two, especially in kage arc. She overestimates her importance to both Sasuke and Naruto and then is proven wrong in the most humiliating of ways. Lol.

Whatever good grace was left in their relationship burned to ashes when she wailed like an immature girl and asked him to take her with him. So all her caterwauling about 'revenge won't bring you happiness blah blah' takes a dive, her concern for his safety takes a dive and what we are left with is her addiction to Sasuke, irrespective of Sasuke's own wishes, and Sasuke is obviously smart enough to see that. Which is why he immediately clocks it. That she was still the same person as she was in the beginning of the manga. Still annoying. Still full of artifice and selfishness. Who can't think beyond her own personal needs. She should learn that the world doesn't revolve around her.

This is why it was so easy for him to break his bonds with her. Just like it was with Kakashi. He was never really attached to them in the first place. And whatever there was, wasn't strong enough to make him struggle to break. While it was different with Naruto. Obviously. It led to vote one after all.

In the reunion, he clearly says he has broken his bonds with Konoha and team seven. But he knows he is lying. So does Naruto. He broke his bonds with the rest, not Naruto. Which is why Naruto gets real triggered.

Like of course, this is all very straight up and easy to understand. All one has to do is follow the story. Pay attention to what they are reading and seeing. It's straight as an arrow. The characters say everything themselves.

Sakura says to Sasuke- You never say anything to me, you don't tell me anything. Not even a word, it's like you hate me.

Sasuke says to Naruto - It's not insignificant. You became my closest friend.

Naruto says to Sasuke - You and Iruka became my family.

Sakura says to Naruto - Naruto, I couldn't stop Sasuke. You are the only one who can bring him back, only you.

Naruto says to Sasuke (when Sasuke tells Sai he has broken all his bonds) - Why.....why...THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU KILL ME THAT DAY?? HUH??

Sasuke says to himself- Emotional bond makes one weak.

Like none of this is difficult to understand.

Fans need to understand that character development and narrative development exist. 😑 Characters change when their circumstances change or events happen that affect them. Nothing happens in a vacuum. There's a start, middle and end. There's always a certain trajectory to the story. Ups and downs are part of the story.

But all they do is selective reading, they hang up their heart onto one moment or one scene or one situation that they approve of and just dismiss what came before it and after it, how it developed and subsequently changed. I shouldn't even need to say this, it's pretty much common knowledge, but it's how stories are written. But fans are so stubborn about their misconceptions. Just like that dumbass anon who sent you that 'there's more brothers in manga than anime' ask. Seriously, it's like they have never read a story before. 😐
