If I had a nickel for every time an anime protagonist nicknamed sho-chan saw a high school sports club performing in a competition (while out to play a different sport with his friends) which fundamentally changed the way he saw the world and opened up new opportunities that he didn’t even know existed in the first place within the last half of their middle school career and then went on to become a great athlete and become best friends with their prodigious rival/teammate only to be injured at like the most inconvenient time, I would have two nickels. I have been on a beyblade brainrot train lately so I want to make up a new concept for beyblade and digimon.

I think it would be so cool if the crests were the bit beasts and every time they evolve, the beyblade upgrades. At the start of every new series, the crests can be their lowest digimon and then evolve to something different.

In the show all the kids usually have their default rookie digimon and then branch off to different forms.

I have decided to use the example of the 02 kids since their cast is smaller and they evolve in cooler ways. It is also in celebration of the new movie coming soon.

Crest of Kindness : Wormmon evolves into Stingmon. Wormmon is a defense type bey while Stingmon is a stamina bey that's super fast. He would stay Stingmon for longer periods of time and often combine with X-Veemon for deathly matches. The Paildramon is a balance type since he is just a fusion. Imperialdramon is still a balance type but can change his spin when he switches forms.

Crest of Light : Gatomon evolves into Angewomon and Nefartimon. Gatomon starts as an stamina type. Angewomon is an upgraded stamina bey while Nefartimon is an attack type. In multiple battles Gatomon can change its type to suit the next opponent.

Crest of Hope : Patamon evolves into Pegasusmon and Angemon. Patamon starts as a balance type. Angemon is an upgraded balance bey while Pegasusmon is an attack type.

I'm tired of thinking of all this. This is my contribution to 02.

oh yeah, i'm curious- throughout all 3 series, what would you consider some of the most impactful moments? like, something you just kinda think about occasionally like "oh yeah. that sure happened!" but like in a good way y'know? that or it just kinda sticks around in your mind for whatever reason.

i've only really seen bakuten shoot as of now (god i need to get back to metal fight but that's a whole tangent right there), but i think probably the biggest one that comes to mind for me is. unsurprisingly The Yuya Incident, genuinely i did not expect v-force to deliver a gut punch like that EVER, especially when earlier in the same episode i was just joking around with no idea how fucked up things were gonna get. aside from that there's a few things to pick from, but i can't really say any of them hit Quite as hard

Metal Fusion finale: body horror, beys go to space, and Gingka rides Pegasus's spirit (I think that's the only time a blader did that)

Metal Masters: before the finale, Ziggurat unveils the spiral core, which he advertises as solving the energy crisis with a beyblade-powered reactor. He turns it on and turns part of New York State into a desert. In the finale, the spiral core has a meltdown after crash landing (the reactor was in a flying city) and the only way to stop it is to launch it into space

The Tower of Babel tournament: not only does the Tower of Babel canonically exist in this universe, but they host a tournament in it

Shogun Steel finale: [spoiler] straight up kills themselves

Reiji vs Hyoma and Reiji vs Kenta: Reiji sacrifices efficiency to make his opponents suffer for longer in battle. He also breaks down at the idea that his opponent isn't scared of him (not fearing him also causes him physical pain)

Captain Arrow's reveal: the circumstances around his debut were very similar to Reiji's. Unlike Reiji, Arrow isn't a sadistic villain. He introdices himself as "a soldier of love and friendship" and says he has "the power of justice." Everyone else knows he's a villain (he's part of the very obvious villain group), except himself

Despite MFB's selling point being "more metal for everyone" (y'know, Metal Fight Beyblade), it was the only series to ever release beys with no metal

So early into Metal Fusion, they realized they didn't have much variety with fusion wheels. Every bey was using the same handful of them, and players were getting tired of having half a dozen of the same wheel. Takara Tomy recognized this, and made light wheels. Basically, beys where the fusion wheel was replaced with a plastic variant of the same shape. This would drive down production costs, and the beys were sold for around half the price of beys with metal

Three light wheel beys appeared in the anime: Mad Cancer, Wind Aquario, and Clay Aries. Since Hasbro never made light wheels, the dub renamed them to Storm Aquario and Rock Aries. Mad Cancer was changed to Mad Gasher for unrelated reasons, and while it was released as Dark Gasher, the anime kept it as Mad for plot reasons

MFB's localization as a whole was weird. It was pretty faithful to the original material, but also oddly inconsistent when it came to name changes (Killer and Hell get renamed but Death and Diablo don't. The dub keeps the special move Beautiful Dead and the line "[spoiler] will die," but the move Venom Genocide gets changed to Venom Strike)

how much HAS the whole existing-to-sell-some-toys thing impacted the show, actually? clearly in bakuten shoot the creators just kind of Went Ham and from what i've heard burst is. Descriptions and recommendations are based on my opinion and taste. If you don’t like that I’ve watched a certain title, or what I had to say about it, kindly eat my ass :)

Durarara -- Overrated -- I had a hard time following the story or giving a shit about anything going on.

Erased -- SUPER RECOMMENDED -- Oh man, it's an intense murder mystery with time travel, it's shockingly good.

Eromanga-sensei -- Overrated -- 12 year old girl who has no cencept of social norms draws porn for her step-brother's shitty novels (also they're in love or something?). Cannot overstate how cringe this is.

Escaflowne -- SUPER RECOMMENDED -- Complete story, very satisfying, incredible worldbuilding. Girl with psychic powers gets beamed up to a second earth full of dragons and animal people and knights and princesses etc. And has to somehow stop an evil fascist regime from destroying the world. Also, there's mechas!

Escaflowne the movie -- Trash -- They butchered the character designs and story completely.

Excel Saga -- WTF -- Honestly what the fuck.

Fairy Gone -- Not bad, but not for me
