I haven’t seen anyone explaining this, and we’re past the era of fansubs containing translation notes at the top, so let me do the honor instead—
Lu Guang calls Qiao Ling “older sister.” Specifically, 姐 (jiě). He addresses her as “Qiao Ling-jie.” Here are two examples of him saying it in S1E1: (It’s not in the subs, so listen closely.)
This doesn’t mean they’re blood-related, though. Asian countries just like to express politeness/familiarity through family terms.
And assuming Qiao Ling and Cheng Xiaoshi are of the same age, then Lu Guang is younger than Qiao Ling, which means he has to address her with jie. However, since they’re close friends, he could’ve just dropped the jie. I mean, he doesn’t call Cheng Xiaoshi as “Cheng-ge,” does he?
Lu Guang keeping the jie for Qiao Ling but dropping the ge for Cheng Xiaoshi just shows how different his relationship is between the two of them. He’s more polite with Qiao Ling but more casual with Cheng Xiaoshi. And well, I guess it is kinda hard to address CXS as gege when he’s more like a child 🤣
But oh, it’s a different story if Lu Guang addresses Cheng Xiaoshi as “Xiaoshi-gege.” This one sounds more intimate, like how one would address their boyfriend. (And no, this is not meant to be kinky or whatever. It’s just the culture.) I don’t really know how to explain why this is, though. Just take it. [Tempting you guys to use it in fanfics (★‿★)]

I can’t believe I took so long to watch episode 6 when it contains one of my most favorite RonToto moments ever
Also, can we just appreciate this slight line change in the anime:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t know if it’s just the translation, but the shift from “the person I’m solving a case with” to simply “you,” addressing Toto directly, feels so much more personal and really highlights how important Toto is to Ron
And god, the voice acting for Ron is sooo good. You can really hear his voice trembling. The man was so damned terrified

It's here! It's here!
The Come Steal Me scene is finally animated, and it's perfect!!!
The tense, dramatic music that starts playing when Bachira's name is called.
Bachira's expression:
Tumblr media
The way it zooms in on only Isagi when Nagi was also included in the manga
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The slight sadness and shakiness in Bachira's voice when he said he had wanted to stay with Isagi
Isagi's blank and breathy (?) voice when he calls Bachira's name
The beat dropping at the same time Bachira says "But I won't wait for you, Isagi."
THIS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The music turning emotional as Isagi thought, "From now on, I'll have to chase after what I've lost..."
That sad music paired with Isagi's look of heartbreak:
Tumblr media
It's PERFECT

God, I love this scene so much. Toto being more mad about the situation than Ron is. His voice actor delivered the lines well, too.
And the entire scene summed up is literally this:
Toto: You don’t have all the facts. Ron: Which are? Toto: I love you.

For real, though, the choreography/animation in Bakuten always gets me so mesmerized that I always end up applauding when it ends, as if I’m watching an actual men’s rhythmic gymnastics competition. It’s that good

The MV for the audio drama song of Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know has been in my drafts for over two months… but I honestly can’t even remember what I was going to do with it... I’m trying to clear up my drafts, so I’ll just post this and go. Do what you want with it
Anyways, I just really love this song. Also love Yin Hanjiang’s and Wenren E’s character designs here

OKay turns out the video I linked in my propaganda for You Yao was a cover of the ED (I was in class when looking for the video, and I didn’t bring my earphones so I couldn’t check). I couldn’t find the original anywhere online, not even one without subs, so I decided to just cut it out from my copy of the episode and burn in the subtitles while I was at it.
PLEASE PLEASE VOTE FOR YOU YAO IN @best-underrated-anime
This show has CANON GAY PAIRINGS! And not just one, but FOUR!!!
The second pair, Zhou Rongqi (aka Prince Yu) and Li Ke, are the ones featured in the video above, which is season 1’s ending song.
The soul of Li Ke, a modern person, had transmigrated/isekai-ed into the body of Zhou Rongqi’s dead best friend. Instead of handing Li Ke over to the Best Tower in accordance to the rules of their world, Zhou Rongqi intends to use Li Ke’s modern knowledge to exact vengeance on his brother, who is the Emperor.
However, while getting along with Li Ke, Zhou Rongqi found himself being swayed on his journey to revenge. Plotting against the Emperor would have him killed, and he can no longer be with Li Ke. But with so much sadness and hatred in his heart, how could it be so easy to let go? Still, Li Ke tries to persuade him.
Their love story is that of starting over again and finding new reasons to live, and it’s also one of forgiveness—to the enemy and to the self.
Their love is so so beautiful, and come on, Tumblr loves gay ships. Vote for You Yao!

[Storm] Bachira to Isagi [Blue Lock AMV] V2
Song: Storm by Wu Qingfeng and Aurora
Anime: Blue Lock
Characters: Bachira Meguru and Isagi Yoichi
I edited this BachiSagi AMV I made before. Nothing major… just changed some clips with more dynamic ones and also adjusted the timing of the scenes to better match the music. I was planning to wait for the Blu-ray international edition before editing, but that’s gonna take a while, and I couldn’t sit still leaving it unedited...
Anyways, I hope you like this improved version! And again, please don’t reupload this video to other sites. If you want to watch this on YouTube, here’s a YouTube link.
Likes, reblogs, and shares are appreciated 💗

The Siege of General Qiu Shenji
From White Cat Legend Season 2, Episode 7. English subs by @whitecatlegend. [Video also on YouTube]
I’m gonna turn this into a gifset later, but no gifset can ever capture the intensity of this moment, so here’s a video as well.
From the war-chant-like music playing as the enemy surrounds Qiu Shenji...
Tumblr media
The beat picking up as the battle begins...
Tumblr media
The sheer awesomeness of him kicking everyone’s ass despite being outnumbered and having no weapon
Tumblr media
The singer’s dramatic intoning as his hair comes loose...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blood splatters on the “camera”
Tumblr media
The enemy fearing him even though he’s only one person
Tumblr media
The way he easily picks up the spear with his foot
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Him doing gymnastics with said spear...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When he finally won, but there’s still a second round, and he’s already injured and tired...
Tumblr media
THIS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Him kicking everyone’s ass with only a shield for a weapon while sad, emotional music of a hopeless struggle plays in the background...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At this point, it seems like there’s no way he could win...
Yet he keeps fighting...
Tumblr media
and fighting...
Tumblr media
never giving up even when the odds are against him...
Tumblr media
.... and then he wins! He wins!
Tumblr media
The heart rising to your chest finally falls back down. There’s only one guy left. Surely the heavens won’t be so cruel as to give him a mishap at this point, right?
We feel his rage...
Tumblr media
We root for him to finish the guy off...
Tumblr media
But in the end...
Tumblr media
the heavens were cruel...
Tumblr media
Qiu Shenji can never wash away all that blood...

Bachira is always looking at Isagi
This scene seems like a random Bachira insert by the anime team, which we know they love to do so much. But it's actually not just for the fans. Although it's not as pronounced in the manga, Bachira really does look at Isagi a lot.
I've briefly mentioned in this post how the anime is putting emphasis on the characters' relationships and their interactions with each other, and this is most obvious when it comes to Bachira and his relationship with Isagi. I'll make a different post about this that go into more detail, but for now let's talk about Bachira always looking at Isagi and how that scene above adds value to the anime.
Warning: This post will contain some manga spoilers about Bachira's past and other scenes not yet animated
From chapter 7, in their match against Team X:
Tumblr media
After Isagi passes the ball, Bachira is visibly surprised here and even a little sad (disappointed?). It's easy to miss it though since we're drawn to what this random opponent is saying.
Here's the anime version from episode 2:
Tumblr media
Bachira's face is in focus, while that extra is pushed almost out of the screen. Plus points for that, but minus points for Bachira not looking as distressed as in the manga version. In the anime version, it just looks like ordinary surprise.
Also from the same chapter, but this time it's after the match:
Tumblr media
Bachira is once again looking at Isagi. However, he's sharing the moment with Kunigami, so it doesn't seem anything special.
The anime version wins this round, as they were able to deliver it more emotionally:
Tumblr media
We don't even see Bachira's face here, but they were able to make it more impactful by the use of lighting and the slow music playing in the background of this scene.
From chapter 11, in the match against Team Y:
Tumblr media
Bachira's face is in focus for once. And here's the anime version:
Tumblr media
Pretty much the same, but I especially love how Bachira says Isagi's name here.
Here's a little nugget from episode 5. This is from chapter 12 of the manga, and Bachira was not in this scene. He's just a background character in this frame in the anime, but as a diehard Bachira fan, I immediately noticed him.
Tumblr media
Igaguri has the ball here and is talking to Isagi. If you look closely, Bachira's eyes are not looking forward at Igaguri or downward at the ball, but to his right, at Isagi who's off-screen.
One can argue that Bachira is just looking at them interacting since the ball is in their area, but it won't explain why, of all characters, did the animators choose to put Bachira there. At this point, Bachira is still just a satellite character to Isagi. Of course he has to be looking at Isagi!
Also in the match against Team Y is this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Isagi was so far away, but even then, Bachira was able to see him. Nobody expected Isagi to be there, which is why Niko and all the others were surprised when the ball came to him. However, Bachira saw him. And only Bachira saw Isagi. This is proof that Bachira really pays extra attention to Isagi.
It is not until chapter 71 that we understand why this is:
Tumblr media
He believes in him so goddamn much, he can't take his eyes off him, waiting for him to do something exciting.
I think the most obvious example of Bachira's trust in Isagi are these pages from chapter 36:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He even says it explicitly in the second page. And this trust goes both ways too. Isagi trusted Bachira would pass to him. (I know this particular dynamic of theirs changes later on, but for now, let's revel in it.)
Now, let's go back to episode 6 and talk about this extra scene of Bachira just looking at Isagi:
Tumblr media
Was it necessary to add Bachira just standing there and staring at Isagi? No, not at all.
Did this scene add any value to the anime? Yes, it did.
In this episode, we see, for the first time, Bachira giving attention to a player other than Isagi: Kuon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It shouldn't be surprising for Bachira to pass to other players, but as a character who's been revolving around Isagi up this point, emphasizing this scene of him passing to Kuon actually tells us a lot about how Bachira plays: He plays with a monster, and at this part of the game, Kuon was that monster.
On the field, Isagi is actually not that special to Bachira.
Now, bear with me my fellow bachisagi shippers and let me explain—
Before Bachira's character development arc, it is a fact that Bachira plays by passing to a monster. It just so happens that Isagi is not always this monster. I'm too lazy to find the specific manga panel for this and this post is also getting longer than intended, but in the second selection arc where Isagi, Bachira, and Nagi team together, Bachira actually passes to Nagi more. Then in the final match between Rin's team and Isagi's team, Bachira is even testing Rin and Isagi. This page from chapter 71 summarizes it best:
Tumblr media
If Bachira never changed, then it wouldn't be farfetched of him to ditch Isagi at some point and go play with some stronger monster.
And this is the beauty of Bachira's arc. Aside from seeing Bachira grow, we also get to see him realize how Isagi was important to him outside of soccer.
Tumblr media
Isagi is not just some monster. Isagi is his friend. His first friend.
Isagi has always been special to him in more ways than one. Bachira just didn't realize it.
Now, wait, Liz, how the heck is this all related to Bachira staring???
I'm gonna get to the fucking point now.
Tumblr media
Episode 6 shows us how Isagi is not that special to Bachira on the field. But this little frame of him staring at Isagi basically tells us "So what? Isagi is still special to Bachira, anyway." You don't see Bachira giving the other players that much attention off the field.
There, I finally said it.
So much ado for a bachisagi crumb. I could die for this ship, I tell you.

You Yao is falling behind in @best-underrated-anime round 2, but the gap is small, so we can still catch up! Here’s another video propaganda, featuring the second gay pair in the show—Li Ke and Zhou Rongqi (aka Prince Yu).
Do you like the bubbly x cold dynamic? The strict expressionless guy turning soft and smiling more because of the idiot who rambles a lot??? Well, look no further! Li Ke and Zhou Rongqi are exactly that.
And these two are only one of many gay pairs in You Yao. We also have the carefree boss x protective bodyguard, the refined martial arts practitioner x uncouth writer who are stuck sharing one body, and the famous martial arts master x funny little guy.
VOTE FOR YOU YAO

[Storm] Bachira to Isagi [Blue Lock AMV]
I HAVE NOT YET SLEPT SINCE EPISODE 23 AIRED 🥲 I’ve been working on this AMV since last week, and with ep 23 out, I am finally able to finish it!
I’ve been craving for a BachiSagi AMV that’s not the same 1-3 clips played on loop to just a small section of the song. I couldn’t find any, so I thought I’d fix that… so here, you get an AMV that actually uses the full song~
The song is Storm by Wu Qingfeng and Aurora. Lyrics-wise, it doesn’t fit BachiSagi down to the letter. The vibe really fits, though. And I like how it’s not just a song about love but also about change, which is exactly what I need in a Bachira-centric song.
Just please do not repost/reupload to other sites, especially YouTube!!! It’s gonna get copystriked anyway since the full song is used (this has happened to my KageHina amv before 😢)
Anyways, I hope you enjoy it!!!
BachiSagi nation, we just keep on winning uwu
Update (Apr. 3, 2023): This AMV has been edited. Watch the improved version here.
