Doing some Serious Painting for the first time in uh over a decade and holy shit y’all I’m…good? Like, I periodically step back to check things and go “hot damn!”.

#I think stepping away from art for a while helped me tbh #I also think my fine motor skills finished baking a bit in my 20s #and just generally maturing w/r/t patience and other things #(for anyone new here I started college as an art major then changed majors like twice and ultimately dropped out bc mental health)#(I’ve been doing a little sketching and shit here and there but nothing major)#anyway I had the bright idea to do some oil portraits for Xmas gifts and here we are #literally the last time I finished an oil painting was in…2011? 2012? something like that #so I wasn’t 100% sure going into this #and now I’m really excited #I’ll post a pic later when I’m done for the night

I made gift bags for my coworkers with yuzu petit four cakes and chocolate pralines and a bread with a leaf pattern. I also added a hand drawn card to each bag with a personalized message ♡

thinking about jack betting bitty won’t be able to go to the halloween party snowy’s throwing as a mime—“because mime’s don’t speak, you know” “yes, jack, i know perfectly well what a mime is”—and try as he may, bitty won’t back down from a challenge, especially when jack says if bitty wins he’ll do all the dishes for a week. so he does his make-up and paints his face and even splurges on the red suspenders and lo and behold, while he’s sitting on the couch waiting to leave, jack walks out in a mime costume as well.

bitty: “jack! you’re a mime!”

jack: “yeah haha. you think i’m gonna let you skate by the entire night without having to talk to anyone alone?”

bitty: “well i—i mean—honey, what happened to your cat costume?”

jack: “i was never gonna be a cat.”

bitty: “okay, but how are we gonna attend this party if neither of us talk?”

jack: “we act it out. c’mon, bits, i thought you knew what mimes did.“

and so they stay so in character the entire night that people start to get freaked out, although bitty nearly breaks character when thirdy’s wife just doesn’t understand that the fudge bitty brought doesn’t have peanuts in it, and by ten o’clock jack’s pulling bitty into the car to go home because marty’s youngest kid started crying at jack’s awful attempt at peek-a-boo, and bitty’s laughing because “i can’t believe we just did that, jack, i can’t believe i actually went the whole night being a mime!” and he’s smiling so wide that maybe jack kisses him at a red light until their black lipstick is smudged.

(after they leave, marty texts jack thanks for giving my kid nightmares and tater texts tell little b he too scary good with charades and snowy just texts fuck you two)

#someone took a picture of the two of them and it ended up being posted to the falconer’s twitter #and some of the comments went on about ‘this is such a lame costume idea’#and snowy just responds to every one saying ‘they traumatized kids. what have you contributed to the holiday?’#bitty ends up making two batches of sugar cookies because they’re marty’s kids’ favorites as a consolation gift for scaring them #and he also takes the week to experiment as much as possible with baking since jack’s doing the dishes #though really bitty ends up helping out half the time because he feels guilty #omgcp #zimbits
