yknow the fact that my source actually fucking SUCKS makes me so upset. i mean, theres so many missed opportunities and nothing is ever explained.. like. my master aged YEARS in the span of 3 days. and thats never explained. neither is the main character's menstruation never starting. neither is the reason for the experimentation on those animals. and just. so much is just left there and was shoved in for some goddamn reason. and the ending????? ASS. they shouldve done something with the fact that my masters experimenting on the main character!!!!!! i mean, why not fuck her up a little bit, the same way me and the other simiesques were tortured and distorted and fucked over!!!!!! im so mad. im glad my canon was better than this mess of a book.

Reading Serge Voronoff's book is interesting because I keep forgetting this dude wasn't just philosophizing and that this real life 20th century French surgeon actually did try to increase the human lifespan by grafting animal tissue with human tissue, not just on other people, but on himself. He was really out here doing this, huh.

EB: My, this is quite a rare find! How'd you ever manage to get a hold of this?

EB: It’s one of the space unit’s pearls, in which most of the pearls they’ve created have been tossed into the void sea! I suppose that was because they never wanted anyone to find the information, and act upon it, so they hid it from the world. It does make one wonder what was on those pearls to begin with...

EB: OH! I’m rambling, my apologies. You’re probably curious as to what's on this.

EB: This Pearl contains code, very in depth and difficult code that I don’t want to get into the specifics of, so I will simplify this for you.

EB: It’s a string of code that tells data transferred into a machine what to do. The code allows a creature to be altered biologically by going surface level through behaviors, or deeper levels through biological features. This string of code also seems to specify where the data comes from, which happens to be one of my neighbors, Extracted Prism Sunsets. From what I understand, it’s without his knowledge.

At the end of the code, there is a loop line, which means that the data goes through a continuous loop, so it’s… a never-ending cycle of countless alterations to a certain creature.

EB: I… Star Glider…

Nevermind that… you should bring this to Prism.

EB: Oh, the other pearl. right.

Let me see, what do we have here?

EB: It's a message of confirmation for an experiment with an additional log of information to it. The experiment was done by the ancients to test different creatures and how they’d do in accurate Zero gravity environments for prolonged periods… but the log… it says there was only one creature present.

EB: The log lists many other creatures on it with the words 'previous modification' next to each one, the most recent listing is a slugcat…

The facility responsible for kidnapping Khare and forcibly experimenting on her didn't start with her. They've done it to many people and are behind a significant number of missing person cases each and every year. Thousands disappear never to be seen again, mostly young runaways and vagrants who won't be missed by anyone meaning they are the perfect test subjects in which to conduct their research.

Prometheus is the face of this organization, a little known corporation who funds both legitimate and illegal businesses on the side in order to gain access to what they're really after - fresh subjects for their project in researching the human genome and how to alter it. Metahumans are the next stage of human evolution whether humanity likes it or not, but natural born metahumans are too far and few in between to conduct research on safely, and are often too high profile to snatch up anyway. Ordinary humans? There's plenty of those running around, so what's a few thousand lives in the hopes of unlocking human potential? Mutants are still not fondly regarded by most of humanity but enterprising minds see their value and more importantly, the value of the future, how much the wealthy would be willing to pay in order to gain powers of their own. The money poured into the cosmetics industry on a yearly basis would be nothing compared to how much the elite are willing to pay to gain eternal youth or as close to it as possible, forever looking young without invasive procedures such as plastic surgery. With Prometheus at the helm, anybody could become a metahuman in the near future with a few easy injections. There's just a few kinks in the system to work out first in order to make it a safe process for those matter, and who better than to start with the chaff?

when lovrina took over as the head of the shadow program, she spent the five years refining and ‘improving’ the process. that improvement eventually culminated in the xd process, which will be discussed under the cut.

please refer to above warnings before hitting the button. it isn’t extremely graphic, but it goes into detail of the process

there is absolutely no aspect of the process that is remotely, plausibly ethical.

a healing machine is never used, only revives or waiting until they recover on their own. 10% don’t survive.

the first stages include repeatedly subjecting the pokemon to supereffective attacks of stronger pokemon until they faint. this is done until their immediate reaction to seeing another pokemon is attack - not with an actual move but just the equivalent of struggle.

from there, they’re handed over to the scientists. usually sedated, they’re injected with courses of steroids and drugs while being subjected to retraining - learning (usually through punishment) to take commands again not out of loyalty, but as a way to avoid further pain and as an outlet for anger. the steroids and drugs are the prep work for the real ‘shadow’ process.

once they are as broken and retrained as they possibly could be, they’re returned to pokeballs and put through a machine that rewrites their biology with the help of the drugs and steroids, essentially retyping them to this new artificial type of shadow - which is strong against any type, except other shadow pokemon.

only 50% that make it to this stage survive.

from there, they are shadow pokemon, however they are put through the initial stage of being attacked constantly by their weakness until they manifest their shadow moves. there is never a guarantee what will manifest.

lovrina developed the xd process.

what makes the xd process different? the xd process doesn’t just recode the typing (adjusting the way the pokemon translates energy in the world around it), it entirely rewrites the genetic code of the pokemon.

were a pokemon’s typing an organ, the standard process would look as though there had been a transplant of a part, adding it on in a way that’s identifiable. xd would make it so the organ is just as much ‘naturally’ the shadow type as well as whatever else the pokemon should be. there is also a shift in the brain’s coding to accept commands transmitted in ways only cipher would be able to give.

her earliest attempts involved actual implanted devices to lower cost, but nothing came out of that alive.

I have never watched Jimmy neutron, so with the help of fandom.com and my overactive imagination, I created;

When Jimmy Neutron’s dad told him they were getting a new neighbor, Jimmy didn’t know how to feel. On one hand, a new person to impress with his genius was always a bonus, but on the other hand, what if his new neighbor was some kind of freak?

“Jimmy, if your neighbor’s a freak, you can just turn him into a llama or something, right?” Carl Wheezer, one of Jimmy’s best friends, stated, stuffing his mouth full of goldfish as he walked through the halls of their school.

“Theoretically, it should be possible, using the basic mechanics of theoretical molecular biology, but the ethics science board would never let me get away with it! Those people are watching hawks when it comes to possibly unethical experiments. Trust me, I’m already on two warnings and three Geneva violations!”

Johnny took a long breath. “In simple terms, no.” Carl blinked. “You broke ethical laws-?”

“Anyway- my Mom is making us invite him over.” Jimmy said, completely ignoring the question of his morality by one of his best friends. “Any advice?”

“Uh- Don’t eat anything with dairy? It makes my stomach hurt..” Carl’s weak immune system was clearly the result of years of inbreeding and horrible genetics. Of course, Jimmy would never say this. To his face at least.

“Right- my genes don’t allow for problems such as those- but I’ll keep it in mind Carl.” With that, Jimmy Neutron zoned out for the rest of the school day, until he was finally home.

That afternoon, Jimmy waited anxiously for the arrival of his neighbor- and low and behold; at exactly 5:30, a short, hairy man knocked on the door. Jimmy’s Mom let him in and Jimmy daydreamed of finally escaping the watchful eye of the government and having the freedom to create a real life saw game.

Through the tidbits of conversation that Jimmy couldn’t block out, he learned the man was twenty-three years of age, had type two diabetes, and that his short boney body contained Parkinson’s disease.

Everything was going fine, until at exactly 6:38 pm, when Jimmy’s new neighbor, Macbeth, who even names their child Macbeth, excused himself to the bathroom. Jimmy followed, grabbing a baseball bat in the hallway, in case this absolute stranger decided to rob the place.

Crunch

Jimmy looked down in horror as he watched this complete fucking idiot not watch his step, and crush his robo-dog Godard to peices in a single step.

He’s done did it now…

Holding back his tears, Jimmy raised his baseball bat above his head, and swung down onto the back of Macbeth’s head.

Three hours later, Macbeth finally, much to Jimmy’s excitement, awoke, strapped to a chair in Jimmy’s room.

“Oh, you’re awake! Lovely.” Jimmy said with a smile, putting on his goggles in the dimly lit bedroom. His lab coat flowed in the wind as his room fan spun, making a loud droning noise, making the room all the more eerie.

“Mmfgh- mmfgh? Mffffgh-!” Panicked muffled noises escaped Macbeth’s mouth, as he struggled with his restraints, the gag around his mouth muffling every noise he could have made.

“Frankly, you don’t deserve to have closure, so I won’t tell you why I’m doing this. But I will tell you this, since you were so fucking stupid, enough to do what you did, I figured you should look just as you are.” Jimmy pulled up his surgical mask.

His face was covered completely now, the dim lights in the room creating a shine on his goggles, enough to cover his eyes, making the lack of visible emotion in this child all the more disturbing.

“Honestly, you’re as stupid as an animal, so why don’t I turn you into one? Enjoy life as an ape, won’t you?” Jimmy raised a large needle, filled with a radioactive purple substance, and without hesitation, plunged it into Macbeth’s thigh.

If he screamed, there was no one to hear it.

The next day Jimmy woke up refreshed. He brushed his teeth, got ready for school, and ate breakfast.

After Macbeth had made his marvelous transformation last night, Jimmy threw him onto the street, hoping he’d get picked up by a zoo.

Jimmy opened his door, backpack slung against his shoulder- and wait…

Was that a giant bud light can in front of his house? Jimmy squinted and took a step closer. Then-

Thud!

Something sprung out of the can, at rapid speeds, tackling Jimmy to the ground.

He groaned as his head hit the floor, but before he could take a breath, a searing pain tore through his chest, as something- or someone landed on top of him, digging what felt like sharp claws into his body.

Suddenly, before Jimmy could even register what was happening, a finger dug into his mouth, pulling painfully on the skin around his mouth - until suddenly, a chunk of his own cheek came off with a horrible tearing sound.

Jimmy screamed, as white-hot searing pain burst across his face, the squelch of his cheek landing a few feet away giving him an absolute sick feeling.

Warm, sticky blood poured to the ground in what seemed like record amounts, feeling devastatingly sweaty and terribly cold all at the same moment. Drenched in the horrible weight of blood-soaked skin and clothing, Jimmy would have thrown up if he could focus on anything other than the repeated sensations of skin being torn from his body.

Jimmy struggled in vain- panicking, growing more and more desperate to escape by the second, writhing and wrestling around on the ground with the creature on top of him.

His breath came out in deep, fast breaths, as his throat struggled to get ahold of the oxygen in the air. Blood poured out of his mouth and noise, turning his breaths into pitiful wheezes- it felt like he was suffocating on his own blood.

Oh god- he couldn’t breathe-

Every gaspful of air brought a blinding burst of pain into Jimmy’s body, and the air was struggling to get to his lungs, obstructed by the sheer amounts of blood he was coughing up. His vision went blurry, and he could see black spots all around him.

Through all of this, the creature had never stopped attacking, ripping this boy apart from inside out.

It was the most brutal attack reported on the news for a very long time.

Rumors still go around to this day about the malformed chimpanzee who sent a promising young boy into life support for the rest of his life. And who knows? Maybe it’s still out there?

DISTINCT FEATURES | Scars

I’ve put so much time into talking about the toll the experiments had on Kit mentally and physiologically, but I’ve never really talked about the basic physical damage that people can actually see, i.e. scarring.

Incision Scars.

there are several small incision scars on the back of her neck, mostly centered near the nape. they hide under her hair for the most part and are difficult to see unless you are up close. these come from the multiple surgeries done on her brain & the chip placed there. these scars contribute to much of kit’s desire to keep her hair long.

Spinal Puncture Scars.

these scars are kit’s most prominent. they’re circular, raised white patches about the size of a dime and make a symmetrical pattern going down both sides of kit’s spine. They begin just below her neck and stopping at her tailbone with about an inch between each “row”.

this scar tissue is the result of one of obsidian’s regular experiments that used a device which would latch onto kit’s spinal column to directly measure and "agitate" the nanite synapses in kit’s body. they are kit’s most physically sensitive scars as they are multiple layers of scar tissue that obsidian kept ripping open on a regular basis.

Dog Bite.

pretty clear cut explanation. obsidian kept violent guard dogs around to keep her in and others out. if at any time she attempted to run from the compound—which she did quite often until a certain point—the dogs were there to drag her back.

one such escape attempt, kit almost managed to get to the gate but a dog managed to get her around the ankle and absolutely refused to let go. she ripped herself free and caused a nasty gash that would scar later.

Fingertip Scarring.

i’ve talked about kit’s stims a bit before and how not all of them are very healthy. Especially when obsidian did not provide enough outlets for her pent up energy. her main stim has always been chewing and kit never had much to chew on.

she compulsively bit her fingernails and the skin around her fingers to the point that they bleed and leave recurring damage and without functioning pain receptors — it only got worse.

she’s less focused on her fingers now after escaping since she has more things to chew on, but she is not outside of still chewing on her skin now and again
