An AU where it's not Hashirama who's Naruto's reincarnation, but Madara.

Wait wait wait. I was going through your Team Uzumaki tag after already scrolling through your recent posts.
You have A:TLA and LoZ linked into the Naruto verse.
All it needs is that our Foxy demon is Yoko Kurama.
Maybe he was the OG Gremlin, the Sophisticated Sassy Gremlin… but then he was collateral in Hashirama and Madara’s war against each other and sealed in Moto, and foxes are not meant to be alone, and the isolation drive him mad, so he fought against being resealed in Kushina… he just wanted freedom… but no one would hear his screams.
Fast forward, and his current Holder is so warm to the core of his soul that he feels the warmth on his fur and now he hopes, and dreams of finally escaping.
And then he finally gets to speak to another person, and he can feel Naruto’s affection for his Kits, and for his Precious People. And the madness begins to fade as he finally gets warmth and kindness and he is soothed back to that sophisticated gremlin that he is.
And thus why Naruto is good at growing plants, and after Kurama regains his sanity, his plant growing skills are almost parallel to the Mokoton.
And why he is all in for the Kits trolling Uchiha, because a part of him will always blame Uchiha Madara for his sealing.
OH god yes that would be a fantastic connection to make. Also can I just say that a Naruto with THE Yoko Kurama as a formative influence? Terrifying.
Plus the Kits trolling a dark-haired broody little shit with strange eyes and a habit of setting things on fire? Ah Kurama really does miss Hiei sometimes

What powers did Indra and Ashura inherit from the Sage of Six Paths?
We receive two conflicting answers to this question in the manga, which we will examine in closer detail.
Our most authoritative answer comes from Hagoromo, the Sage of Six Paths himself, in chapters 670-671.
As Indra and Ashura's father, who raised his children and watched them grow, Hagoromo's opinion holds considerable weight. Even after his death, Hagoromo's powers allowed him to continue observing his sons' lives and the lives of their descendants. This firsthand knowledge makes him uniquely qualified to speak on his sons' abilities and powers.
We'll start by considering his thoughts on Indra, the older brother.
Tumblr media
According to the sage himself, Indra inherited the sage's strong chakra. Indra's descendants also inherited this strong chakra as a characteristic trait, as Obito tells us through his Madara persona in 398:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hagoromo further explains that Indra inherited two other traits from him:
Tumblr media
"Strong ocular powers" clearly refers to the Sharingan eyes that would be the Uchiha Clan's hallmark.
What the sage means by "strong senses" is less clear. What we do know is that Uchiha Madara was an extraordinary chakra sensor who could identify an individual person from countries away. Linking those two facts, Indra having "strong senses" may have meant that he was also a chakra sensor, and that strong chakra sensors occasionally appeared among his descendants, the Uchiha Clan.
Now let's turn to Ashura, the younger brother. Hagoromo is very specific that Ashura did not inherit any of the things Indra did - not the ocular powers, strong chakra, or senses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then what did Ashura inherit from the sage?
Actually, Hagoromo never confirms Ashura inherited anything at all from him. The only comment he makes on Ashura's power is this:
Tumblr media
What this vague statement refers to is uncertain, but I think we can draw a tentative link to senjutsu, whose practitioners undergo difficult training so they can learn to draw natural energy inside their bodies, then blend it with their own chakra to create senjutsu chakra. This technique artificially increases the amount of chakra available to the user, allowing them to fight on equal grounds against an opponent with a naturally larger chakra capacity. We also know that Ashura's descendants used senjutsu (Senju Hashirama and Uzumaki Naruto), further lending support to this idea.
If Hagoromo is a highly authoritative primary source, our other version of events is the opposite. In chapter 462, Obito tells a short, mythologized version of Indra and Ashura's story.
By Obito's time, the myth of Indra and Ashura was over a thousand years old. When myths are retold over generations, details are embellished, downplayed, forgotten, and added. After enough time passes, a myth's recounting of true historical events may become inaccurate or incomplete, even if a seed of truth remains at its core. However, such myths still say a great deal about the people retelling them.
A further problem with this myth's reliability and accuracy is its source: Obito is relating this story with the intent to manipulate his listeners. We already know he's lying by claiming he's Madara. Likewise, he may be omitting or altering parts of the myth to influence his audience and further align with his goals.
Keeping that in mind, let's examine what the myth has to say about Indra's inheritance from the sage.
Tumblr media
Indra's inheritance in this myth has clear parallels with the sage's personal testimony. Hagoromo stated that his eldest son inherited his ocular powers, strong chakra and senses. Here, Indra's inheritance is the "sage's eyes," strength, and spiritual energy.
The "sage's eyes" directly equate to the ocular powers of the Sharingan. "Spiritual energy" is also easy to match: chakra is composed of both spiritual energy and physical energy. Furthermore, Indra's descendants, the Uchiha, are known for strong chakra.
Because we can directly link most of Indra's traits between the two versions, we can say there is a high level of accurate transmission between the two versions.
The myth's version of Ashura's inheritance, however, drastically differs from Hagoromo's testimony.
Tumblr media
Hagoromo, by omission, implied that Ashura did not inherit any traits from him, and he also said that Ashura found power through his own chakra only later in life. Since Hagoromo's firsthand account makes no mention of any "sage's body," longevity, or stamina, despite speaking to an audience who is Ashura's descendant, we must assume that these were later additions to the myth.
I have argued previously that Obito is telling a Senju version of the Indra and Ashura myth. The narrative expansion of Ashura's abilities adds further evidence to my claim, as the Senju would have ample motivation to depict their ancestor as impressively as possible.
The narrative structure used in this myth also gives Ashura, the Senju's ancestor, claim to an equal inheritance of the sage's power alongside Indra, the Uchiha's ancestor. Not only would that interpretation have carried significance in the politics of the Senju-Uchiha vendetta, it could have potentially been used as justification for the appointment of Senju and Senju-taught Hokages in Konoha.
But why give Ashura longevity and stamina, specifically, out of all possible traits? Perhaps because Ashura's descendants possessed these traits, even if Ashura did not?
Konoha's Senju clan and Uzushiogakure's Uzumaki clan were distant blood relatives, and Uzushiogakure was known as the "Village of Longevity." Perhaps this longevity arose in one of Ashura's early descendants and was then passed down to both the Uzumaki and Senju clans, or perhaps it first arose in the Uzumaki and was passed to the Senju through intermarriage.
Regardless, the inconsistencies within Ashura's narrative suggest that the Senju clan experienced substantial changes within the thousand year period after Ashura's death.
The stability and consistency of Indra's story in the historical record, on the other hand, shows the Uchiha clan maintained a strong line of cultural and genetic continuity, to the extent that Indra's bloodline reliably displayed their ancestor's notable characteristics even a millennium later.

Do you ever think about how the two kyubi jinchurikis previous to Naruto were married to a hokage? How the women serving as the recipient of the feared beast were some of the most beloved people of the head of the militar state?
The strongest man in the village marries the deadliest woman in the village and people were like "I trust our leader but I am terrified of his wife".
What about the children?
Not even one mention of how the Uzumaki and Senju kekkei genkais mixed. What about the contrast of the Uchihas marrying within the clan to maximize their sharingan users while the Senjus and the Uzumakis married?
There's no mention either of Hashirama and Mito's kids. Would their mixed blood make them more or less powerful? Would some of them still get the red hair? Would some of them choose to move with the majority of the Uzumaki clan? Would they rather use the last name Senju to prevent getting hunted like their cousins outside of Konohagajure?
Tell me, if Tsunade is a direct descendant of Hashirama and Tobirama, doesn't she also has Uzumaki blood from Mito?
What about the influence?
Mito raises all those children and they knew to fear the kyubi, but how did they feel about the jinchuriki? What about their mother? And how did it shape the way they would later perceive Kushina? How did the Senjus treat Kushina? Was she family to them? Had Mito any influence over how Kushina was raised and trained even as old as she was?
What type of influence did Mito have over Hashirama? Even if she never mediated on the Hokages duties, how her beliefs shaped the beliefs of her children? Of the Senju clan? Of the Uzumakis? Of the people of Konoha? When Hashirama died, did Tobirama pushed aside? Or she retired herself given her age?
When did the Uzumakis and the Senjus disappeared from Konoha? If you follow the Minato one-shot manga recently published by Kishimoto, the Uzumakis were still highly respected on Konoha-- or at least had their own space, a place to keep their legacy and train their own. So when did it all come down and when did the Senju and Uzumaki clans started dying enough to be completely gone when Naruto was born?
The Minato manga shows that Kushina was a reason for him to take certain choices. So did he have a plan to change Konoha to become a place for his wife and son to live happy and not rejected? What type or political changes would he have applied if given the chance?
The only real option to try and make sense of the history of Konoha is if you acknowledge that 1) Tobirama did make the militarization more efficient, but not necessarily made life better for everyone; 2) Hiruzen must be the WORST hokage given his indecision between doing what Tobirama did which would have turned him into Danzo or try to benefit the lives of the people under his commands even if it meant risking Konoha as a militar state.
Then again, what exactly means to have the advice of an Uzumaki woman? How does it change things? Did Mito ever tried to be the mediator between Hashirama and Madara? What could a friendship between Kushina and Mikoto could have changed the future?
Is there something to say about the positions of both Mito and Kushina as women from a clan that's hunted down for their power and that has been turned to weapons/sacrifices? How would their identities parallel the Uchiha clan?
How could this all reflect on the story and the theme of the manga?
Framing Naruto as the survivor of a genocide would have been an amazing point to meet or finally understand Sasuke in his rejection of Konoha. Sasuke saw his clan died but they denied Naruto that knowledge. Sasuke lost it but they didn't even allow Naruto to have it. Sasuke can return to the Uchiha compound and visit the sacred secrets of his people, but the story denied Naruto of that. Itachi cursed Sasuke with his choice to kill the clan in order for Sasuke to live and Konoha to be safe, Minato cursed Naruto by sealing Kurama in him to protect his life and the village. They were manipulated from the start, everyone deciding which parts of the story they got to listen to, never allowing them to decide with eyes wide open. Of course they can speak to each other without words. They don't know how similar their experiences are.
Hashirama and Minato didn't mean for the jinchurikis to be just a weapon of the state (those were their wives!!!!!!!), but Tobirama allowed that to happen and Hiruzen actively dictated rules to make sure it'll be the result (isolating Naruto from the village, like they did with the Uchiha clan). Tsunade only tried to keep things rolling, but she at least can defend with her medical achievement and the fact the system was rotten to the core when she became hokage.
Even Sakura and Hinata benefit from this, both in the deepening of their characters and the canon romantic plotlines. To be soft or wild, to be bullied by others or constantly left behind given their lovers' duties, to be raised under the pressure of a legacy or to be helpless and wanting to stop being a burden, to break the expectations and reclaim your identity, to make your own path and become a great kunoichi who can also love and fight to he loved, to be seen, to be there with the man they love.
Thinking about Mito and Kushina make me spiral because they are so important!!! Yet we don't have many mentions of them!!!! Why!!!!

Madara & hindu cosmology
Tumblr media
It's a thought I had following this post here
It's interesting that Madara never wished to resurrect his loved ones contrary to Obito. It seems that Izuna's death but more precisely the valley of the end’s defeat marked for him a definitive rupture with "this world". He was not interested anymore about his own desires. If you think about it, he was not supposed to be part of this collective dream that could have longed an eternity from the perception of those inside the dream. If everything had gone according to his plan, he would be just there alone watching people slowly dying in their cocoons.
Actually, I’ve realized recently that from my western perspective, I didn't pay attention to the Buddhist cultural aspect and in some instances the hindu cosmology. There is between both religions cultural bridges that we can't really see in the West shaped in judeo-christian background but from an asian/japanese audience it's implicit. In hinduism there is this idea that the material world is but a creative dream from the imagination of a god. He manifests himself in a sort of trinity:
Brahma the creator
Vishnu the protector
Shiva the destroyer (in order to recreate a new world) and note that Shiva is also associated as the Lord of dance. Shiva Nataraja destroys the cosmos, each steps is creating movement in the dissolution of the universe. It's a doomsdays to end a cycle and allow a new one to be born.
Tumblr media
Shiva Nataraja, Lord of dance and destruction
Madara's plan is a way to attain this godhood state, to annihilate the world and recreate it again. We first met him during the apex of the 4th shinobi war, impersonating in a way Shiva, he destroyed the current shinobi world. From his perspective it's a failed world, or should I say a dream who turned into a nightmare, created by another god Hagoromo and perpetuated by his spiritual heirs Hashirama/Naruto. Obito in creating the Akatsuki and collecting the Bijuus, was incarnating one of Shiva's steps. He was preparing the dissolution of the world by perverting the shinobi system and hastening the apparition of the true "Shiva".
Madara’s Brahma phase can be paralleled with him being the second Sage Rikudou and having access to all the chakra on Earth and opening his third eye which represents in hinduism and buddhism the invisible one who brings mystical illumination and visions in the realm of high consciousness. If his plan would have succeeded he would have been a type of Vishnu protecting the new world. Alone, but keeping safe humanity inside his dream.
And as odditiesinnaruto said, time in a dream can be infinite. If Izumi was able to have a whole life with Itachi and "dying old", Madara must have been capable of putting someone in a dream where they exist and continue their life through their imaginary descendants for generations and generations, for centuries and millions of years which represents few seconds in real life. He would have literally created a Madaraverse inside the zombified Narutoverse (it sounds really like the movie Inception). And in his dream, somewhere the Uchiha clan and the whole world will "exist" in peace forever. It gives me vertigo!

Hi tamelee ❤️ can you do an analysis/review of Kishimoto's recent popularity poll art? I saw a hashimada shipper comment on how Kishimoto drew Madara and Hashirama on exact opposite sides of each other + his love for symmetry and I was wondering if you noticed anything interesting in the illustration (just general observations, doesn't have to be about shipping 😊)
Hi Nonee, sure 🧡!
Tumblr media
Long post - Image heavy:
Well, first my eye was drawn to the brightest part of the drawing. Promptly in the middle, big, foreshortening technique used on Minato's arm leading you to his face secondly where the colors gradually get darker and more saturated. As are the colors surrounding the NinJutsu to make it stand out more. Every line on this drawing illustrates Kishimoto's experience, talent and hard work regarding his knowledge on composition.
Then..
Tumblr media
Sakura is holding the same type of axe-weapon she was also holding in an illustration for Chapter 15.
Tumblr media
Naruto has a slightly different one on Volume Cover 33 too. (I'm obsessed tbh- LOOK AT THE KURAMA-TEETH ON THE SCROLL)
As you pointed out Madara and Hashirama are on opposites of the illustration, almost as if they're battling each other! But also look at how Kurama's tails embrace them, how that enhances the movement and expression of their battle-intent + the Rasengan twirls!! 😱 AND the weaponry that both come from behind their heads at the same spot. (Omg I love Kishimoto so much.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Of course on these sides too!)
Naruto and Sasuke are paralleled on either side of the illustration too! (And so are Kurama and Shukaku 🤭..)
Speaking of Shukaku, Gaara is holding what looks like the "Tea Kettle" he was sealed in. The former Jinchuuriki 'Bunpuku' and the beast were inspired by a Japanese folktale 'Bunbuku Chagama' where the creature in the tale is a raccoon dog, like Shukaku.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think that's a really nice addition. (Especially since I saw this legendary creature used as a toy by this mini-Hinata look-a-like gremlin in 'Boruto'.. what's up with that anyway..)
Tumblr media
I think Kakashi's weapon is kind of like the Kamui Shuriken he used when they fought Kaguya?
Tumblr media
Furthermore:
Tumblr media
I'm glad Kakashi and Sakumo are together on this.. also, Obito's goggles have made a comeback ;-;🥹! It's funny to me that Kishimoto started to draw Naruto with goggles (a way to cover himself and hide as he did in Chapter 1)
Tumblr media
..but then said in a later interview that it was too much work. (I tried a few panels drawing them and I totally get it...) Anyway I digress-
Tumblr media
We can also see Shisui wielding a sword/drill that looks like it was designed with his supposed(?) Susanoo in mind. This was seen in Ninja Storm the game.
Tumblr media
NOW I'M NOT SURE ABOUT ITACHI'S SWORD... BUT:
Tumblr media
It loooooooooks like a masamune sword, but I'm not sure.
Tumblr media
I'm no expert on weapons. If anyone recognizes it...
Tumblr media
Long-ass Indra's arrow-bow.. in physical form.. legendary!!! So fine 🤌 I also love how Kurama's tail frames him in the background. Orange looks good on you Sasuke.
The way the Rasengan swirl pulls your attention on him (and the characters in general) + the Chakra/energy sparks are all placed so nicely *-*! It really communicates more movement and liveliness into the illustration.
Tumblr media
Neji is holding what looks like Chakram/Chalikar weaponry? These are throwing knives used for.. well throwing AND close combat. At least that's what I thought at first but then I was thinking about it more and the Hyuuga's "gentle fist" is based on "Baguazhang". This is a martial art style which uses a lot of rotation style techniques. (Hence.. "eight trigram palm" is real because that's what it literally means.)
There are special Baguazhang Crescent Moon knives/Deer horn knives that look like this:
Tumblr media
I think that's what these are, which are perfect for rotation-based combat.
Tumblr media
In the same category, Baguazhang in practice used a double-edged sword called 'Jian'. It was known as the "gentleman of weapons" in Chinese Folklore. Early Japanese swords known as 'Ken' or 'Tsurugi' are often based on 'Jian'.
It does seem a bit unusual since most of them don't have a guard like that, but they exist as Changjian, or longsword.
Tumblr media
What she has could be a Tsurugi though not sure.
Regardless, it seems pretty heavy for her 😁?
Tumblr media
Naruto and Jiraiya both stand very wide, using an open, boisterous body-language that Kishimoto often uses for the both of them in many of his previous art. This over-the-top, theatrical design and visual representation is based on 'Kabuki' which is a traditional form of Japanese theatre, dramatic performance/dance. The umbrella is called a 'wagasa', often used in these plays/ceremonies.
Tumblr media
I'm happy these two made it!:
Tumblr media
A sword made from the tail of Sasori's puppet, Hiruko? That goes so hard!! It kinda reminds me of Renji's (character from Bleach) sword. I always thought that design was so cool, but this one also has that poison..
Tumblr media
Not sure how those clay mask bombs work wrapped around a string, but you gotta admit, they're pretty artful! Perhaps it's like wire binding infused with Chakra.. Or what if, once he has put them on you, your head explodes or something..
Tumblr media
Additionally:
I love how Kishimoto just added Guy (and Kurama) because he wanted to but also because having Lee and Guy together on the illustration just seems right.
Shikamaru with Asuma's Chakra blades of course~ (He uses them for his Shadows Imitation Shuriken techniques... but I read he gave them away to Mirai?)
I might be missing many things but..
The more I look at it, the more nods to earlier work I see, tbh I could go on and on. I really appreciate it.
Oh and.. no there is no shipping-intent and hints/clue's at all that's also not what this is made for.
Tumblr media
Don't let anyone fool you. Naruto is looking up to the banner he's holding lol. It's a shame that the first thing people look for is things like that and then discard the entire thing when it is made with passion, love and hard work..
Anyway thankyou for this ask, this was so fun 🥰

sakura was chosen by a senju. i don’t care about bloodlines or soul brothers or even the fact naruto as a show was going to be focused on naruto (i already know please don’t bring that up, lemme have my breadcrumbs)
sakura haruno, a clanless shinobi child of few talents yet a cunning intellect, was chosen by princess tsunade senju, the direct descendant of hashirama, the founder of the leaf village. she was one of the last people to be taught everything by a senju. she is tsunade’s heir, her pride. tsunade taught her to be senju in everything but blood in spite of sakura’s lack of clan connections.
i just... don’t you see how marvelous that plot point was?? kishimoto created a genius arc and never explored it lol. sakura as the chosen senju heir puts her in direct conflict with sasuke uchiha, the last of the uchihas.
imagine madara using that plot to twist sasuke even further. imagine sakura going to kill sasuke out of love but him twisting it into a generational conflict neither of them are old enough to understand. imagine a battle between them: sasuke with all of his uchiha expertise and sakura with the last of senju’s teachings. imagine the opposing imagery and unlike naruto’s bond with sasuke, sakura and sasuke aren’t parallels. they aren’t two sides of the same coin. they aren’t reflections. they are fundamentally different which makes their reconciliation more poignant. it’s two people learning to create and exist in a new world of their, a bond forged by sheer stubbornness and longing

Besides naruto and sasuke, who are some of your other favorite characters?
Gaara. I related with him the most in the entire manga. His backstory was the moment when I got truly hooked. Kishi had me by his claws. I was very invested in his story and it was quite apparent that he was one of the crucial characters that would affect the plot and the protagonist in the process of which, both will undergo change, and so there was a lot of anticipation there.
Neji. While I appreciate him more in retrospect, because this was a boy who stood in the middle of the stadium where all the kages and jounins and the civilians were gathered, and fearlessly talked of oppression supported by the system at the risk of being rendered paralysed or half dead by his slavemaker curse, at the time I liked how he carried himself. Intelligent and talented, a no nonsense dude. And he shut Hinata up who was deliberately egging him on. I loved their fight during chuunin exams, I would not have minded if he were allowed to keep going on... He is individualistic and strong, he is a non conformist and has solid reasons to be that way, I appreciate that.
Deidara. He is just so much fun. Kishi can write all sorts of villains, that's one of his many strengths. He doesn't have a tragic backstory like others, and he doesn't suffer from savior complex or mad acquisition of knowledge and secrets of the world, or retribution (except for Itachi, but that's just another art driven shenanigans of his). He does it for art, lol. He is just a crazy, artsy guy who loves arson. Lol. And that makes up for interesting, engaging action.
Orochimaru. Another wonderful villain. He creates a sense of dread, a certain squirmy quality that is also very thrilling and suspense building. He is so cunning, always one step ahead. He always has an Uno reverse card in his sleeve. Lol. And his wit. Lolol. He is so catty and incisively so. He is also the product of this system and he has a very real insight into this world himself but he has been desensitized. He uses the system itself for his own objective, that benefits his own self. He is certainly a very interesting character in his own right. And he is the only adult who takes a serious stand for Sasuke and that means something. Because it is done in front of all the dead kages, no matter how strong they were.
Madara. Crazy mofo. I happen to love characters that are hella strong, intelligent, stylish, have a sense of humor and are justifiably arrogant. I love how he keeps roasting the five kages, acting like the cat playing with the little mice just for fun before killing them off. I like bloody mayhem in a battle, and this man is so skilled and so powerful, it just makes for such good and humorous action. Not to mention his crazy obsession with Hashirama, he is strong but has his vulnerabilities and doesn't care to hide them, I mean the man just plants his ass on the ground like a stubborn child in a cereal aisle when Hashi sends his clone to fight him, like he just won't be mollycoddled. He is enjoying the battle so much. He exemplifies battle lust. Also, I liked how he was not so predictable. Hashirama sends Sasuke to somehow reason with Madara seeing he looked like Izuna. But Madara wasn't having it. He won't be manipulated. The way he was backstabbed by that piddly ass Black Zetsu, just like Hashirama did, was just cruel man. Kishi and his cruel parallels.
Kakuzu and Hidan. I say both of their names because their rapport is what brings out both their characters. They are snarky, stylish, well Hidan is, smart, strong and form a good team. Their fight with Naruto, Shikamaru and the rest of the team was pretty enjoyable.
I would say Temari, she is bold, sharp, strong, confident, displays strong leadership, with a level head on her shoulders. But of course, her character is not very explored, and I wish it was. I also like sand siblings' dynamic. Kankuro also has his good moments, funny dude. I would have also liked to see Tenten been given a chance. Oh Kish..
Gai. He is a kind man, always positive but not in a toxic way. Persevered despite his handicap and worked haaard. Strong, sensitive, vulnerable, has a close bond with his team, and is the perennial cheerleader. He cares for his friends, subordinates, and doesn't back away from a fight. He was already knocking on death's door when he decided to tackle Madara, and he did it with such aplomb. Impressive. His interaction with Kisame is also quite funny. I like Kisame as well. Such a gentleman. I also like his backstory, quite a complex one.
Yamato. The perennial nanny. The babysitter. He used to work for Root so he doesn't know how to deal with other peoples' individuality. But he tries. He takes his team out for a nice stay at an expensive inn, treats them to good food, all so that his team can bond and not be at each other's throat all the time. He does care about his team, and he is always trying to be the peacekeeper. I also like his dynamic with Naruto. At first, Naruto finds him scary/weird but then finds out he is just a pumpkin on the inside. So he teases him and plays pranks, and Yamato reacts just like how an exasperated older sister would to a naughty younger brother's pranks. Lol. And he is strong and smart. He has some good comedic moments, and he learns not to take himself so seriously. I would have liked to see him in action during the war arc but sadly, Kishi decided not to have him.
Suigetsu. That boy knows how to self preserve. He is bold, funny and a little devilish. He likes chaos and doesn't care for anything other than his own interests. He owns the way he is. He doesn't pretend to be anything different. He doesn't submit to Sasuke, he calls Karin out, he makes fun of Juugo, he takes everyone on. He is entertaining. But he also supports and helps Sasuke in his effort for revolution, he is adamant about it too. I also like his pointy teeth. Heh.

Thoughts on Konoha that nobody asked for:
So, first of all, I find it narratively unsatisfying if everything was Tobirama's fault.
It's just cheap. "Ah, everything would have been perfect if Tobirama had been the one who died, he ruined everything with his Uchiha racism!" Isn't that kind of lame? If I wanted Scooby-Doo I'd watch Scooby-Doo.
Tobirama is Izuna's parallel, right? The brothers get paralleled til you're blue in the face. And Izuna's thing is that he's so bitterly scarred by war, so hurt, that he can't accept peace. He goes to his grave telling Madara to keep fighting, to never trust Senju.
So, shouldn't Izuna's character–this idea of being so scarred by war that you can't move forward even when it's the thing that makes the most sense–also inform our understanding of Tobirama?
Tobirama's less Uchiha-racist and more so inured to war that he can't stop being a cunt (he's also kinda naturally a cunt, but that's besides the point), I think. He'll like individual Uchiha, but the war is so strong in his mind that The War Faction is its own entity to him.
I also find it narratively unsatisfying if everything is Madara's fault! I very much don't like the answer/implications of "Uchiha are inherently crazy." Again that boils it all down to just one mean guy, and that's dull as dirt to me.
I like to interpret it all as a "there but for the grace of God go I" situation; if Tobirama had been killed, Hashirama also would have spiraled in an unsustainable manner. (I don't think Tobirama believes this and even Hashirama would have convinced himself that he could put it aside for peace, but he'd be wrong.) The true culprit is war and the human struggle to cope with such fundamental wrongs.
Cos Tobirama isn't wrong for killing Izuna, no more than Izuna would be wrong for killing Tobirama in the same circumstances. Hashirama setting up a stalemate by pulling Madara aggro (which is the most typical fanon reading of the war I've seen) still costs Senju lives. Nobody else is operating under the same "don't want to actually kill you" parameters Hashirama is, and nobody else has his level of power and durability. Everyone except Hashirama and Madara is fighting for their lives.
I know all this theorizing doesn't quite jive with all aspects of Naruto; I know that the finale favors a more craaAAaazy Madara take. There's only so many patches you can put on a coat before you need to just get a new jacket, though. Since I care very little about Boruto/the Nart finale, I'm not terribly invested in making that bit make sense in my head. This is more what I think about when I look at founder fic, which generally stands on its own with minimal reference to Boruto shit.

Comparing Two of My Favorite Characters :
Sasuke Uchiha
Daenerys Targaryen
PARALLELS
Questionable brother figures who became victims of their circumstances and eventually their abusers…
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The loss of their family all together, with Daenerys never meeting most of hers, being the ‘last’ of their bloodline…
Being responsible for the restoration of honor to their family name,-Targaryen and Uchiha…
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Secret family members, with questionable intentions…
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Connecting with people who were/are in similar positions as them/they were…
Tumblr media
Now as for where they diverge, the perception of their family, and how much it is bound to change.
Rhaegar Targaryen and Itachi Uchiha are one in the same to me. Both elder brothers with good intentions but terrible execution of their plans.
Sasuke spends the majority of the Naruto series believing that his brother was a power hungry, deranged and narcissistic man who committed genocide on his own family in pursuit of a stronger dojutsu.
He learns from Obito Uchiha later on, after he kills his be, that his brother was a victim of the adults around him,-that convinced a thirteen year old that the only way to retain peace was to wipe out his own people.
Sasuke then declares vengeance against the Hidden Leaf village, and abandons his brother’s intentions of restoring honor to the Uchiha.
Relating this to Daenerys, she hears of her family mostly through her elder brother, Viserys, and knights like Ser Jorah Mormont and Barristan Selma. The memories they share of Rhaegar, Aerys and Rhaella are often hear-say or second hand information. The stories usually paint Rhaegar and Aerys as noble, while in canon, a lot of their actions (especially Aerys’) are horrifying. Daenerys herself serves as the antithesis of House Targaryen, she’s everything but nothing like her ancestors. I reckon that after finding out the works of Aerys, Daenerys, unlike Sasuke, will continue to rewrite the wrongs of Old Valyria.
To touch on another similarity between the two,- they are both the narrative heirs of the two ancestors that came way before them, The Amethyst Princess, and Indra Otutsuki.
Amethyst Princess - Dany
Bloodstone Emperor - Viserys
Tumblr media
Indra Otutsuki - Sasuke
Ashura Otutsuki - Naruto
Tumblr media
Sasuke and Daenerys’ approach is very different when opposing these two characters.
Naruto is the protagonist and the hero of the story, whereas Sasuke is deuteragonist. Daenerys is the arguably the protagonist of a Song of Ice and Fire, and Viserys exists in her story.
After her marriage to Khal Drogo, Viserys’ rage towards Dany stems from jealousy of her status and the agency she now has as Khaleesi. She grieves his death, yes, but had he survived, her dragon eggs would’ve never hatched. She wouldn’t have become Azor Ahai, the Mother of Dragons, etc. Daenerys does what the Amethyst Princess and even Targaryens before her couldn’t do, by restoring the balance between ice and fire magic through the birth of dragons, thus creating a new era.
In Sasuke’s case, Naruto had good intentions for him. Naruto’s jealousy for Sasuke was merely boy-envy. His pursuit of Sasuke comes from a need to understand his grief and loss. Sasuke does what Indra Otutsuki and Madara Uchiha couldn’t,-he moved pass his need for vengeance, and ended the cycle of hatred for the Uchiha Clan.

Who you u think is Obito more like? Naruto or Sasuke. I think Obito is more like Sasuke then Naruto. Like yes the kid or genin version of him was like Naruto but,....HE changed besides both Sasuke and Obito were innocent kids at first and they both witnessed the deaths of their loved ones by being killed by another loved one. And they BOTH realized that it's because the shinobi system has failed. Besides, Obito's redemption seemed really forced..
Obito was canonically intended as Naruto's mirrored image had he taken the "dark path", which is why they both are so similar in their youth, so if a parallel is to be drawn, I think we should respect their canonical intent.
However, to reference the similarity you pointed out between Obito and Sasuke, while they both did have traumatic experiences that shaped them into their adult and teenage selves, which pushed them to find solutions outside the bureaucratic structure of the shinobi system, Sasuke's conviction is vastly different from Obito, whose experiences turned him to seek solution upon a reality he could control by creating one of his own; while Sasuke saw the flaws of such resolution and concluded that the best course of action was to focus shinobis' attention upon himself as to prevent them from turning against each other (it's likely that he reached this conclusion when seeing the allied forces performance against Madara and Obito).
I shall re-read all that Arc, however, in order to grant you a better response as I'm telling you this solely with my recollection of the manga, but my re-reading is still focused on the first portion of the story.
Hope this is enough at least for now.
Have a nice day.

Madara doesn’t have as many references to Indra as Sasuke, but the one he has are pretty interesting. The God Tree is obviously a reference to Kalpavriksha, the wish-fulfilling divine tree of life or world tree in Hinduism and Buddhism. The tree originated during the churning of the cosmic ocean of milk along with the moon and many other treasures and deities.
In some stories, Indra transplanted the Kalpavriksha to his paradise after humans started using it to wish for evil things. Similar to how Madara sealed the Tailed Beasts inside himself after humans used them as weapons, with the objetive of trapping the world in a dream world where all their wishes became true.
In other versions the Kalpavrikshas are the reasons why the asuras waged a perpetual war against the devas. The later exclusively benefited freely from the Kalpavriksha’s divine flowers and fruits, while the asuras lived comparatively in penury at the lower part of its trunk and roots. This is the opposite of what happens in the series: Ashura is given the fruits of the God Tree, while Indra, the king of the devas, gets nothing. The Senju took control of Konoha, which is paralleled to a tree all the time, while the Uchiha were marginalized and ultimately genocided by the village. Naruto becomes Hokage, hides the truth behind the Uchiha Massacre and crushes Sasuke’s dreams of revolution.

For the Naruto asks, do the questions 2, 11, 23 and 26
thanks for the ask mootie <33
2. Favorite Team
Team Minato for sure. They make me go actually insane like fdhnsofndslsf I can't think about them for too long or else I go fucking crazy. There's genuinely so much to say about them, the tragedy, the parallels, hdfgfhdigf
11. Favorite Technique
This might be recency bias, but since I've been rewatching Naruto classic, I have to go with Kimimaro's bone technique. It's a little gross but it's so cool???? Like I really love the idea, if naruto was made for an older audience kimimaro's bone shit could've been vile. Haku's ice mirrors are a close second, along with many others like Kamui and Amaterasu
23. Who is the best Hokage?
Either Tsunade or Kakashi. Tsunade just pulled an ass card, since she didn't even want to be Hokage and when she did become Hokage, the Akatsuki was on the rise and trying to fuck everything over. Considering all that, she did a really good job of keeping everything in check and not causing even worse escalation imo. I'll also go with Kakashi, since once Naruto finally became Hokage, Konoha was already a fully modernized village and had great relationships with the other villages, which I think can be attributed to not only Naruto, but Kakashi as well.
26. Which character do you want to be your teacher and why?
I wanted to pick Madara first but then I realized that he'd probably just call me weak and beat my ass, so I guess Kurenai or Gai. Kurenai seemed to be a great teacher who had a genuine connection with her students and cared about them and Gai was just a great sensei overall imo. Like how he waited for an extra year before sending his students to the chunin exams. It shows that he's attentive and knows how strong his students are, and knows what's best for them.

Just a note, Tobirama DID step in between Butsuma and Hashirama in the manga. As i see him, he was a gentle brother, he will feel for Hashiramas pains and joys, he tells his brother everything he thinks, he wants to be close to his brother. Its not until Madara that Hashirama, and their relationship...changed.
As for Hashirama, he loves his brother and its clear his whole dream was because of him, but we dont have canon material on how young Hashirama shows that love to the real person.
Im not saying Tobirama and Sasuke were alike in personality, and similar neither are Hashirama and Itachi, but young Tobiramas gentle ways of always looking to his brother and KiNda was just brushed aside, plus his baby looks thats closer to an Uchiha than his family, strongly reminds me of young Sasuke while his brother was busying with his "big picture" goals. Maybe as Edo he really feels he was lacking in being a brother and thats why he praised both Itachi and Madara on being brothers.
Thanks for the correction! I had to look it up again, and yeah, first Butsuma punches Hashirama and Tobirama catches him but then Hashirama goes on provoking Butsuma (lmao what a king) and that’s when Tobirama steps in. Honestly forgot about that part, I only remembered the first part.
As for the rest… I don’t really see where you’re coming from. As I said, the founders era relies heavily on interpretation and if that’s how you interpret child Tobirama and child Hashirama, then good for you. I myself don’t see any canon evidence that Tobirama looked up to Hashirama in the same way Sasuke did to Itachi. If anything, we see wee Izuna looking up to his big bro. There’s no Sasuke-Itachi and Tobirama-Hashirama parallel I can see, sorry.
And when it comes to Tobirama, there’s even more mystery. We see him as a child calling grown ups dumb and how they just should just make a truce, and then there’s a time skip and he’s more than ready to kill the Uchiha, to kill Madara and doesn’t believe in the peace Hashirama wants to make. What happened? Who the fuck knows, we never get to see his thoughts, only when he props Naruto. What is going on in that head at any time is a mystery to all of us and thus free to interpretation. There’s no right or wrong. (Though, I personally think that antis and stans are equally wrong.)
“Maybe as Edo he really feels he was lacking in being a brother” <- this is where you have lost me. I don’t think that Hashirama was lacking in being a brother and that he thought so either. Canon shows us a rather cold relationship, but as I already stated, I reject that. They had their disagreements but we don’t really see them outside of that so I can imagine them in a loving brotherhood all I want. And yes, I do think Hashirama overreacted when he threatened Tobirama in that final Senju-Uchiha fight, but if him reacting a bit too emotional or rightfully calling Tobirama out when he’s being unfair toward the Uchiha is considered him being a bad brother, then I will point with the finger at Tobirama and say him yelling at Hashirama and insulting him and only listening to him when it’s an order is also being a bad brother. A relationship is a two-way street.
I’m not sure if this is what you were trying to do but if you came to me to point out how great and dutiful Tobirama is while Hashirama is the bad brother, then sorry, but you’re at the wrong address here.

This post is just making me think of the actually very sloppy yet SO well done use of parallels in Naruto.
Like, the parallels in Naruto are always, always heavy handed.
Naruto is Jiraiya. Sasuke is Orochimaru. Sakura is Tsunade.
Naruto is Hashimada. Naruto is Madara.
In that one scene, Naruto is Haku. Sasuke is Zabuza.
Sometimes, Sasuke is Kakashi but also Naruto is Minato... who was Kakashi’s mentor. (Despite Sasuke being Zabuza who was Haku’s mentor/abuser.) Sasuke is Kakashi but Naruto is never really Obito (except for when he is) but Sakura is kind of Rin.
And I could go on, really. Just with paralles with Naruto and Sasuke (and sometimes Sakura) to other characters and other character relationships.
But, the thing is... none of these parallels ever really make sense besides maybe Hashimada/Madara. These parallels are largely surface level. Except for one thing... all of these people and relationships ended tragically, dooming Sasuke and Naruto from the start. Fate said you are Team 7, you are Senju and Uchiha, you are born into enemy lines but Sasuke and Naruto are proof of that fate being defied.
Their bond, their love, their trauma bonding endured what those before them couldn’t. Their bond healed wounds that weren’t even theirs and gave redemption to people long gone. They are liberation from the cycle of despair.
They have broken the chains their ancestors, teachers, and enemies have put onto them. Their love is greater than any bondage put onto them.
And... that’s how you accidentally write one of the best love stories of all time
