Is This (Truly) My Reflection..? : A Post on Imposter Syndrome [Master Guide]
" Did well on a test? Must be luck. They think im smart? Man, i must've tricked them because im not. My condition is bad? Well it could be even worser than this. Im struggling? Must be a minor thing, plus everyone struggles worser right..? "
If these words hits close to home, take a moment to look in the mirror. What do you notice? Maybe you fear lots of things, having horrible self-esteem, or being a perfectionist and overthinking everything?
Fear not! They're just blotches obscuring your true reflection, let's finally clean your mirror, shall we? So let's get on with the post;
How did go dusty?
Materialistically speaking, we all know that objects also need regular maintenance to keep it's best quality and lifetime,, mirrors are one of them, especially glasses because magical smudges spawns in once in a while, pretty annoying to see with when things are not clear isn't it?
I think the imposter image also clouds you the same way, it doesn't change the facts, but it does change the way you perceive them.
But, how did they spawn in your vision? It doesn't just pop out, maybe we didn't see it coming when it's small, dust and smears are more visible when they cluster together. What this means is how criticism, out-of-reach demands, and unrealistic expectations you hear most often gets accumulated, slowly obscuring you. Make sense right?
Since the things you hear the most echoes through your chamber harder than the less frequent ones, and that nobody hear's the same thing/words automatically means there are different forms of this syndrome's manifestation, i'll list them down: (bare in mind this is read in a pov of talking to oneself)
Perfectionist - "It all has to be right" You must do it perfect, everything must go smooth, if it doesn't go like how you planned you could've done better in many ways because why can't you see it coming before? That's impossible and unforgivable, there's no toleration for mistakes. Makes you look like you're not as good enough as others.
Expert - "Until then, i may be competent" There's a lot to master or learn, only then you can call yourself worthy of a title. Because the greatest ones must know everything, they don't have any weaknesses--since that's what an expert is! What are you, who learnt most things it has to give, but still missing a lot of little gaps? Once it is all flawless and understood you can call yourself that.
Natural Genius - "I am great, as long i can wing it" Everything must be an easy feat, you must be able to do things right on first try, if not, you might be no other than an average person. Geniuses are fast learning--and they can do everything right where people least expect it. Only then you can truly be smart or intelligent, wrong deductions are associated with less bright people! So if you just make one mistake out of anything, You are just the same as them, you don't have such talent!!
Lone wolf - "It's not real effort if it's intervened" A status or level means nothing if someone helps you, because thats cheating! You should start from scratch like everyone else, asking for help will equate to not being competent or worthy. You will never be able to asses your competence or abilities if it was assisted by someone else, you need to prove being worthy by doing it all yourself!
Hardest Worker - "I should perform as the best" Only if you work the most, the hardest, diligently and with no rest, is only when you can settle down and claim your achievements. What are you if you are not as special? You are nothing but a fraud if you're not the hardest working person ever, you also don't deserve to take a break until you reach to a higher level than others! You are nothing if you are not productive, or didn't achieve any amazing outcome.
Each types has its own fixations and areas where self-doubt comes around, you might even be a mix of these 5 (pick the dominant one if can), the manifestations are endless. Note that the main theme it all has are fear of being fake/inadequate and, or causing extreme doubt, one way or another.
If you need more assurance, i have prepared links for two short quizzes to figure out if you are showing signs of the imposter syndrome! They're already tested by me, so give these two a try.
How should i clean it??
Good question, but before that, i want to mention that this inner critic is a common automatic second voice where it's created in a place of potential abuse or mistreatment for many kinds of victims. Just like how you wipe your stuffs clean can go dirty in a few days despite leaving it be, this is the same. But the more you take care of your glass, the harder the specks will stick on it. That's our goal right there: Make the critics bother you less and more weak the more we deflect them.
Now to the main point, its a tough one here, because depending on what type you have, has it's own root of cause that needs to be tackled accordingly. This post is how to specifically tackle the sense of fraud in being a system, but you can apply this to any other general things the syndrome is causing you problems at.
--
Dear Perfectionist, here's how you can clean your mirror:
Understand that CDDs have no 'right' way of how it'll present the symptoms to you. Like, for someone to have a cold who have a sore throat for the early onset, while you're having runny nose,, does not mean you are the odd one out for not being the same as other's manifestation.
Nothing is constant, or the same, in frequency or intensity. You don't have to suffer 24/7 to finally accept you have a CDD or anything else. Just like for those with chronic pain, who doesn't experience pain for a day, does not mean they are cured of, or not having it. One minute of feeling okay still can happen to those with illnesses.
Perfectionism seeks outward assurance to fit whatever it finds 'right' or it's prime example as reference, which is the opposite of what you truly need: Acceptance. Comparison can be helpful, but oftentimes it causes counterproductive results. Your experiences are already real and it uniquely belongs to you, no amount of external validation will fill you, accept as how you are.
--
Dear Expert, here's how you can clean your mirror:
Having CDD means having a very covert disorder, it is not that you're a fraud for not knowing, or have proof of what caused you to be one, or know every parts and places in the innerworld, or need a perfect book filled with documentation on anything you can find. You do not need to 'master' or understand how your disorder truly works in order to feel like you have it--because guess what, you do have despite it, buddy.
You cannot rush things! Take things slow and steady, a microwaved meal may not taste good but it sure gets served in a mere minute, but gourmet are made from long and tedious work that trusts the process instead of the final result. Many systems rush to develop a better communication without fully learning what type of communication they have, like communicating with vibes instead of the stereotypical type for example.
Nobody ever figure things out by a 100%, so ease back and embrace uncertainty and the unknown. If the greatest researchers still can't make sense of how our galaxy works, then you should not be guilty or feel incompetent for not being able to figure it out, we are not perfect ofcourse, there are limitations to what we can know of our CDD.
--
Dear Natural Genius, here's how you can clean your mirror:
Having a disorder does not mean you immediately know what it does, will do, or how it'll turn out. Never feel bad about learning from scratch, you also don't have to get things right first try because it might be a new topic you're unfamiliar with. If you once think you have DID, but turns out to be Polyfragmented the longer you learn and research, it is a very natural thing to experience as CDD's have many similarities between each other.
You can't keep relying on being unprepared, but expect to do it perfect. It is not a negative thing to always recap, or learn it again, and whenever you do get things wrong, it is a valuable information to learn from, it's not your enemy. The lightbulb isn't invented at first try, but after hundreds and thousands of tries, and the worth still never gets devalued.
--
Dear Lone Wolf, here's how you can clean your mirror:
It is never cheating to ask for help, or get insight from another person. It never means you are not competent if you need some external help, rather like how you cannot see crumbs in your face until someone points it out. One can do an okay amount of progress, but if with many, it can progress even better and faster.
You must dismantle whatever makes you think of this way, things like hyper-independence are caused by a deeper root, you must delve and explore why are you only deemed worth, or feel okay, if you do everything yourself. We grow better when we surround ourselves with many other things.
--
Dear Hardest Worker, here's how you can clean your mirror:
healing is a journey, i understand that you want to get over with the whole CDD's symptoms and it's problems and start getting into final fusion/functional system, that the fluctuation with everyday's progress may frustrate you, but everyday doesn't have to be succeeding something or have an eureka, progress is never linear. You will still get there one day, don't fret on it too much okay?
Worries may not leave you alone fully, and just so you know, your worth or validation isn't tied with productivity. Whatever guilt or doubt you have that is causing this, i hope you can incorporate more self-compassion. For the alter with role jobs, you all deserve to have a break and have fun outside of those jobs, and rely with other parts for help. You're doing enough.
Why does it happen? Where's the takeaway?
Well, imposter syndrome relies on many biases/distortions and possible fallacies, i'll tell you some in hopes of helping you get out of its grip better than your previous attempts after learning the awful trick of theirs:
Confirmation bias: When you take a part of a fact to confirm your current image of you have, whilst downplaying contradicting and or disregarding other pov to maintain it.
Mental filter: Fixated on the negative aspects or flaws while missing out on the bigger picture or contextual information it has. Leading to false judgement of one's situation/ability.
Overgeneralization: Where a person assumes an experience from one event will apply to another different event. Or base an answer from a limited evidence or current failures. For example, interpreting a single mistake or setback as evidence that they are incompetent or unworthy, despite having a track record of success in other areas.
False consensus bias: Believing that others share the same negative opinions or doubts about oneself, even when there is little evidence to support this assumption. For example, one may believe that everyone in their workplace or academic environment is highly competent and confident, leading them to feel even more out of place and undeserving.
Fundamental attribution error: Where one underemphasize situational and environmental factors for the behavior of itself/someone else while overemphasizing dispositional or personality factors. For example, people who cut lines in traffic is a jerk, but if you cut traffic it's because there's something important. The pure opposite can be true in this specific example: Sarah receives praise from her supervisor for completing a project ahead of schedule and with excellent quality. However, instead of attributing her success to hard work, skills, and knowledge, she discounts the positive feedback by attributing the outcome to external factors. Saying "I just got lucky this time," or "My team members helped me a lot, so it wasn't all my effort." instead.
--
So there a hecking ton of information i put here.. But these things are very important to learn about, because the imposter syndrome is a multifaceted problem that has to be addressed in more than one angle.
I hope, everything that is written from start to end, can be used as your chemical cleaner, wiping cloth, along with your handy guide on how to take care of your mirror professionally,
Happy cleaning everyone!

We love to imagine Hob as the best boyfriend ever, and he is, but what if he gets carried away once he and Dream finally get together, and fucks up? Dream is absolutely in awe that Hob waited for him. He comes to realize that his friendship skills are pretty much non-existent, and he has been a shitty friend for the last six centuries. So, when Hob suddenly confesses his feelings (late friendly dinner something something, he got too emotional over the stars in Dream's eyes something something), Dream decides to do anything and everything to be the best partner ever. The problem is, his dating history sucks, his marriage fell apart, but he consoles himself with the thought that at least he's a good lay. That's when he comes to a second realization of millennia - he is not, in fact, a good lay at all. All of his affairs were very brief, he never spent a significant time with his partner, and even when he was married, he and Calliope were mostly minding their own business, each of them too passionate about their respective domains. Dream decides to solve the problem in the most Dream way - to go with the flow, the flow being Hob's desires in this case. And Hob, having lusted over his stranger for six hundred years, just can't get enough. They start with regular sex, but things progressively get more and more kinky - by Hob's initiative. And when he learns of Morpheus' omnipotence in the Dreaming - holy fuck, he's just bursting with ideas. Dream does his best to accommodate all of them, though deep inside, he reluctantly admits that he's not really into any heavy kinks. Actually, he's not into kinks at all and prefers a very standard vanilla sex, which, in his eyes, is unforgivable for someone who contains a collective unconscious with all its wet dreams and sexual fantasies. Hob is too enraptured by their blossoming romance, Dream's powers, and his own lust to notice that Dream gets more and more depressed as time goes by. Perhaps it lasts for months, and eventually, it's Desire who snaps after watching this horny shitshow from afar and gives Hob a shovel talk. They don't have the best relationships with Dream, alright, but this is too much even for them. Despair joins them because she's also done with Dream lingering in her realm - he has his own, can he just stay there, please? She'd rather hang out with her rats. Hob is petrified when he sees how much he fucked up. And it's not like HE is into heavy kinks himself - it's funny to experiment, yes, but he's experimented enough in his lifetime, and he'd be pretty happy with vanilla sex with Dream. He'd be happy with Dream even with no sex at all, he simply got carried away, and he also wanted to impress his stranger with all his skills. Who knew how wrong it would go...And who knows how to fix it all now? Lots of hurt/comfort potential!
Ah, I love these idiots so much. I am absolutely enraptured with the idea of Desire stepping in to do some kind of marriage counselling, by the way. They grab Dream by the scruff of his neck, plop him down in a chair next to Hob, and they refuse to let either of them go until feelings have been talked about and everything is okay again.
First of all Hob is tearing his hair out because HOLY SHIT he's a bad boyfriend!!! He didn't mean it of course, but he fucked up!!! Desire smacks him over the head again and tells him to stop feeling sorry for himself, though. He can't fix this with self deprecation.
Dream also gets a smack (albeit not as heavy handed) because if he doesn't start talking, Desire is going to do it for him! They will NOT allow Dream to be crushed and walked all over by another shitty partner but they will also not allow Dream to sabotage this all by himself.
So: Dream is coerced into making a list of the sexual things he actually wants to do with Hob in both the waking and the dreaming. Dream is so embarrassed and horrified because his list is like, 4 items long and he feels like a failure! But he's surprised because Hob seems so pleased. Now he knows what Dream actually likes, and apparently that makes him happy.
Desire is quite pleased by their little counselling venture. Maybe they'll take it up as a hobby. If Dream can finally get back to experiencing authentic desire, and Hob can finally get back to being world's best boyfriend, then they'll consider it a job well done.
And Dream does eventually become a very lay, by the way. Turns out he just needed practice, and the opportunity to just do the things that he likes. Which he absolutely deserves - as do we all!

Hi, I'm Mira! I'm a silly gay robot on the internet. "How," you might be wondering- don't worry! I have a two greek letter answer for you: θΔ. I'm also transfem, if you couldn't already tell by the trans flag in my profile picture.
I used to do Minecraft stuff, trying to make the game live up to its visual potential while staying within the confines of the vanilla game's engine, but now I'm kinda just burnt out of the game as a whole. Oh well! Now I just generally like looking into the visual and game design of various games.
Tumblr media
My interests are mostly gaming-related, but I've tried to dabble in art occasionally. I like all sorts of games, like Pokémon, Minecraft, Celeste, Hollow Knight, Rain World, Risk of Rain, Ultrakill and probably even more that I'm missing, and definitely more after this post is made.
Feel free to send me asks whether we're mutuals or not!
I do have a sona, designed by a good friend of mine, @quantumpickle! I don't quite have a reference sheet, but I don't really care if you get it inaccurate- I love seeing how different people interpret the design. Whatever you do, though, don't forget the body fat- it's a reflection of who I am, at the end of the day. If you want a good picture of what I look like, look at Pickle's amazing work:
My posts are mostly reblogs, but I always end each session of scrolling with a post of my own, to know where to end next time I log on. I try as best I can to keep this account safe for work in both reblogs and original posts, though I am an adult. I will say something if this ever changes.
I am plural, sharing a body with a rabbit girl named Moon. She doesn't have her own sona yet, having recently (as of this post) decided to no longer associate herself with the character that first helped her manifest. You'll know it's her- she uses blue-colored text, and I typically don't type in proper grammar on Tumblr.
Hello, all! It's Moon- I'm not typically around as much as Mira, but it's always a pleasure when I can be~
I do have a partner, and I will always talk about them given the opportunity, but I carry a certain form of love for all of my close friends. The people I know mean a lot to me.
I love the simple things in life, from food, to nature, to the contrast of light and dark in both a literal and literary sense. I often find myself overwhelmed by everything that goes on in the world, but I find comfort in knowing the bad stuff is only a few bad people out of a beautifully diverse species.
If you couldn't tell, I generally prefer looking on the bright side and finding something to love about things rather than staying miserable all of the time. I don't get out much, and so I'd much rather give people that light to hold onto than spread the same old bleak story that you've heard from countless other people, regardless of how important it is to share. Change is built on hope, after all.
Normally people put a DNI in their bio or their pinned post, but I don't really care to do that. If you're a bitch, I'll block and move on. I don't care how you use a label, or where the other folks in your head came from, or whatever other queer-adjacent drama is the hot topic, I accept you regardless. I'm ace, I still love my partner, I can love anyone, I use it/its pronouns, I'm robokin, I've got another goober in my head whose origins are unknown, do you really think I'd hate you for being you?
That's actually an important point- even if I do think something someone's done is unforgivable, I believe that bad people are still people. In some ways, that makes things better, they have lives outside of what they commit, but it also makes things worse when you realize someone woke up and actively chose to perpetuate genocide. Some people are genuinely that bad, others are just misguided and can be helped. Ultimately, it's not my job to "save" anyone. I just try to provide a light of kindness when I can.
Wow, that was long-winded for a post that's just supposed to describe me. I suppose that's in-character for me, though. Agree with me or not, I don't really care, as long as you're respectful. I hope you've found this post helpful in understanding who I am as a person, long-winded as it is. Have a good one, whoever and wherever you are.
...now how do I pin this?

Debunking an argument that Ron was justified in leaving his friends during the Horcrux Hunt
So, I don't really like to get into arguments. I try to avoid them whenever possible. But I was going through Quora, and I came across an answer by a Ron-Weasley apologist (that's a moniker they gave themselves) who attempted to defend him abandoning Harry and Hermione during the Horcrux hunt.
The writer was apparently glad that he'd done so. It'd turned into a mildly anti-Harry/Hermione rant too. Which is of course filled with the same nonsense.
Now, honestly, I do like Ron. I'm not one of those who pretend to either. I really do like him. But when you attempt to whitewash all of the bad things he's done (and before anyone points out, yes, Harry/Hermione are not saints either), that doesn't make you look much better.
Let me just address what this person has written (and here's a link for those who'd prefer to read it directly https://www.quora.com/How-do-you-feel-about-Ron-Weasley-abandoning-Harry-and-Hermione-in-Deathly-Hallows):
Unpopular opinion? I’m glad he LEFT the Hunt. That camping trip was the most boring, dull, stupid, and useless part of a fictional war I’ve ever read. Ron single-handedly saved it when came back.
Okay, so at least we start off by agreeing with it partially. The camping was bad, and I personally thought it was a huge waste of time too. And yes, Ron did save Harry when he returned, although it might sound a little like plot-convenience to me. But there's not much of a disagreement here.
So, why am I glad he left the tent?
It got him away from the Horcrux that had been torturing him for months. It got him away from something that turned his self-loathing and insecurities into suicidal ideations. The Locket weaponized Ron’s depression and anxiety against him in horrible ways and I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did before snapping and walking away from it. People that look at Ron here and think he’s weak and cowardly are just downright fooling themselves if they honestly believe they’d do any better than Ron did. I mean, he was 17 and people still act as if Ron leaving Harry and Hermione here was some type of unforgivable war crime or that it’d make him the next Pettigrew. It’s disgusting. Revolting. Makes me glad I don’t associate with anyone like them in my real life.
To break it down:
It got him away from the Horcrux that had been torturing him for months.
At the cost of his friends who suffered a lot more than when there together, after he left. Also, aside from the fact that Ron was splinched, I'm not sure that there was anything to specifically torture him. Otherwise, Harry and Hermione were getting "tortured" too.
It got him away from something that turned his self-loathing and insecurities into suicidal ideations.
Genuine question: does anyone remember any implication in Deathly Hallows that Ron had turned suicidal?
The Locket weaponized Ron’s depression and anxiety against him in horrible ways and I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did before snapping and walking away from it.
True, but he left even after hurling the locket down. We know from Harry's experience that its effect vanishes soon after you remove it. So you can't blame it entirely on the locket, which is just nonsense.
People that look at Ron here and think he’s weak and cowardly are just downright fooling themselves if they honestly believe they’d do any better than Ron did.
Well, I don't think Ron was weak or cowardly. I just think he was very much rude (he insulted Harry's parents, for one thing). So it sounds a bit like a strawman. He acted badly, but he might not necessarily have been a "coward", as we do have instances where he's shown to be brave.
I mean, he was 17 and people still act as if Ron leaving Harry and Hermione here was some type of unforgivable war crime or that it’d make him the next Pettigrew. It’s disgusting. Revolting. Makes me glad I don’t associate with anyone like them in my real life.
Why are they so desperate to justify what Ron did? He'd promised to accompany his friends (remember that Harry had told them that he didn't want that), and when he realized that his best friend hadn't lied, he flipped out, insulted his parents, and abandoned them during the middle of a war. He acted as if he were the only person who was having a miserable time there, which is a bad thing to do.
And no, that's not nearly as bad as what Pettigrew did (again, remember that it's a strawman, I've never met anyone comparing him to Pettigrew), but it's not a good thing to do nevertheless.
He needed to get his Splinching wound healed properly. Dittany wasn’t enough. He needed blood-replenishing potions and pain relief potions. He needed real rest and food to recover.
Honestly, it's probably the only valid point in this entire rant, so I'd give it some credit. But if he'd wanted to take time to recover, he could've done that without flipping out too.
Also, can someone point out to me where it says that Dittany wasn't enough to heal his wounds? I was under the impression that a few weeks had passed after he got splinched, when Ron left the Trio.
Because of this:
Autumn rolled over the countryside as they moved through it. They were now pitching the tent on mulches of fallen leaves. Natural mists joined those cast by the dementors: wind and rain added to their troubles.
He was right about the mission not going well. They were in over their heads. Camping was getting them nowhere. Harry even said their biggest accomplishment was not being dead yet. People were dying as they were hiding. Not finding more Horcruxes or ways to destroy the one they had was disheartening for all of them.
All correct points, but as Harry was perfectly honest with them since the very beginning, it's completely irrelevant. Ron thought he was lying, that's on him.
They were stuck, but Harry had refused all help so far and Ron knew he’d keep refusing.
"All help" as in refusing Lupin's assistance? Is this person excusing him trying to be a deadbeat father?
So, yes, Ron was frustrated with the way Harry was “leading” them and he had a right to be.
No, he absolutely did not. Again: Harry was being honest, but Ron thought he was lying. That's Ron's fault for not believing his best of around six years, not anyone else's.
Why does nobody ever mention that Hermione agrees with Ron, but she was too afraid to ever say it out loud to Harry?
Why does no one talk about how even though she might've been mistaken in her idea that Harry was holding back, she was still willing (although she could've Disapparated with Ron instead) to help him with the search? Ron could've done that too.
Instead, she threw Ron under the bus trying to save herself.
No... that's a really weird way of looking at it. She wasn't throwing him under the bus. She wanted to help Harry. If she wanted to save herself, she could've just Disapparated with Harry instead.
People hate Ron because he’s never been afraid to call out Harry and Hermione. He doesn’t lick their boots or blindly follow them and people HATE him for that. How dare this super average nobody named Ron ever dare to tell Harry The Hero and Hermione The Goddess they’re wrong or that their ideas aren’t working?!
Honestly, that's such a ridiculous strawman that it's not even worth debunking. No one I've ever met (including anti-Ron folks) believe that he was Harry/Hermione's slave or anything. It might be fun to make things up, but please ensure that you don't lie about what others believe.
Ron was trying to see if Harry saw anything related to his family in the visions he got from Voldemort. We saw how worried Ron was about his family after the Death Eaters attacked Bill and Fleur’s wedding. We also saw just how physically relieved he was at getting his dad’s Patronus. It was never going to be easy for Ron to go with Harry and Hermione on the run knowing he left his family behind in the world where Voldemort was in control, especially once they had no way of ever knowing anything after Grimmauld Place.
Again:
He willingly accompanied them despite knowing that it's not going to be a cakewalk.
If he wanted to leave, he could've done that nicely. That's what a best friend's supposed to do.
The next section's about them describing why Ron was worried about his family, and I don't really have anything to say there. My point still stands.
So we move on.
Harry was being downright awful to Ron during the fight and he didn’t have the Horcrux on at the time
How so? By telling Ron that he had a problem when he was acting like a douchebag, and asking him to leave when he implied that he didn't want to stay?
If that qualifies as "downright awful", then I wonder what's it like to insult your dead parents, ask your other best friend to abandon your friend, accuse her of "choosing" him, and Disapparate despite her (the person you like) asking you to stay back?
Ron leaving showed how badly Harry and Hermione needed Ron. How much they missed him. Hermione spent weeks crying for him. Harry had never felt more hopeless in his life. They even resorted to taking out a portrait to have company because they didn’t talk to each other much. Like, it got better towards the end right before Godric’s Hollow, but Harry’s broken wand took them back to almost silence.
"See, he abandoned his best friends, and they missed him a lot. That makes him such a good person, and his actions were absolutely justified."
Is.... this even an argument? It proves the point that his actions were not justified considering the effect that it had on his friends. It's gone from a post justifying what Ron did, to an anti-Harmony post. It's not surprising, because it's almost always anti-Harmony shippers who write such rubbish anyway.
There was no dancing or “charged moments” like JKR supposedly said existed (and if she was actually serious about that and not just pandering to the Harmony fans, well, that’s just even more proof that she sucks at romance, LMAO).
Oh, there are. A lot of them, actually. But I'm not writing this to make a case for Harmony, so let's just walk past that for now.
The next section is about how Ron's return helped the Trio, which is something I don't disagree with. Very reasonable points. I'm not sure how it justifies leaving them in the first place, however.
JKR once made a comment about how Hermione was the one who stayed with Harry throughout the whole last book and how that said something powerful about her while Ron leaving said something powerful about him. But it’s like… her writing reflected the complete opposite of that. Hermione might have stayed with Harry, but the only things they accomplished was almost getting themselves killed, breaking Harry’s wand, and finding and trusting a book written by Rita Skeeter.
Nah, that's not true at all. There are a lot of Harry/Hermione moments after Ron left them. But then again, that's a point for another post. This one's been long enough already.
So, yeah, I'll just end it here. I'm not good at signing off by making impressive comments, but to whoever's reading this: have a good day.

AHEM. HEM! FAVOURITES, TATTOO, HERO, LYRICS, PLS AND THANK YOU (MS CAMY ROSE CALL ME)
omg!!!! tyty for the questions!!!! ms camy rose is free on thursday night....
Favourites: Which song of the band’s is your MC’s favourite? Which is the fan-favourite?
So I chose the title Wasted Desires as the fan fave. It's THE ONE LOVE SONG on the whole album The Gambit that talks about the love lost from her and Seven's actual breakup and the regret in how it ended. And OF COURSE the fans latch onto it, of COURSE it's their favorite, she kind of hates that its their favorite, she does not want Seven to be any more responsible for her success than he already was. She needs to prove to herself that she can do it alone and more than that she needs to prove it to him. So while he still colors a lot of inspiration in her songs, this is one of the few times she sang about him more directly and it's annoying that the fans love it. (Whether or not it's due to the fact that the lyrics are just better bc they're more authentic, or because they just love drama, WHO'S TO SAY but it could really go either way.) and im SO BAD WITH SONGS. But I think maybe the first song they did without Seven is her favorite, not because it was necessarily good, it wasn't, but after writing and rewriting and moments the effort of holding back the tears meant there was no energy left to sing with, but she did it anyways. She stuck it out and stuck her pieces back together for herself and for The Band - because they're relying on her they're the ones who need her and they threw the weight of their dreams onto her shoulders and her shoulders alone - and she knew at least that it only gets easier from then on. Or so she hopes :)
Tattoo: Did they keep the tattoo with Seven’s initials? Why/why not? What was that decision/execution process like? (Bonus: What do they think of Seven keeping their tattoo?)
She did! But she almost didn't!! Because it wasn't only The Vote, it was The Fight, where she and Seven said some unforgivable (at the time) things to each other, and then Seven ghosts her for like a month. So that means, to her, that he cuts all communication but he also doesn't come back home to her (probably staying with his mom again) and the next time she sees him he's halfway through packing his things away in boxes, with him being unwilling to work anything out they fought again (bc that's all they were good for at that point), and he says if only she could have come back when he was done - with nothing left but the spare key slipped under the door. So her knee-jerk reaction was to get rid of everything else, including the tattoo. She booked the appointment and everything before she realized she was being just as impulsive as he was. She told herself to think on it before she did anything (or anyone) as a rebound from all this hurt - she wouldn't sink to Seven's level and risk hurting herself more if only to have the chance to hurt him. So she cancelled the appointment, promising to revisit it on a later day. But then she didn't. Other tattoos help now that she can get them without holding his hand and by the time she considers it again, the significance of the tattoo is as much a headstone as it is a shrine to what their relationship was. And on her lowest nights she kisses it, to try and get any kind of spark of the love she had and has never known again. She misses him and is willing to forgive him some things... but not everything. She never expected Seven to keep his, not with how he acted, not with how hurt he was, not with how viciously he broke up with her. It's almost incomprehensible and is completely at odds with how she thought he would act. Despite her better judgment she's hopeful...
Hero: What is their favourite thing about G? Why is your MC such a big fan?
(Funnily enough I have Griffin, because Gina was an ex bestie I had in HS that did me REAL dirty so I still hate the name Gina lmaooo) Probably the nostalgia lmao. She was a HUGE fan of Misfit Alley and especially when she was that young she was like "if G can do it, I can do it." (Which was, I'm sure, the marketing point they were selling) So G really helped her steel herself when it came to how nervous and uncertain she was when she and Seven were in HS and thinking they were crazy for even considering starting a band. So she tried to see herself in G, manifest that kind of success, and fall back on that idolatry when she just didn't have the confidence in herself (which was often back then.) When no one else got/gets me I know G got/gets me. - Camila Rodriguez-Rose, age 16 The fact that she had a HUGE crush too didn't hurt lolol. NOW though it's so wild and interesting to think about G as a person and strangely enough on such a similar wavelength, the few times they were able to be alone with one another. G talking about how many different versions of himself are in other people's minds, talking about how he's the villain in people's stories, struck her to her core in a way that she has not been able to feel in a long time. The fact that such sentiment, that she can relate to, is coming from G fucking "Reign" is so wild to her that she almost can't believe it. But she certainly believes it when she keeps finding similarities between them and felt the way she did when they sang together...
Lyrics: What are some songs you associate with your character? Any specific lyrics that really scream your character?
SO IM SO BAD AT MUSIC but I want to thank @sotc for giving me songs that made them think of Camy lmao bc otherwise I wouldn't know what to put here lolol I should really get better at this for a music-based IF but here's the two: Uffie – Papercuts generally and Stupid Girl - Garbage
EDIT: I just thought about one of Camy's like "voice claim" bands and this actually really fits: Roots - In This Moment: You wanna know why I like the pain you say There's some sick part of me thankful for the hate I stay positive and I push forward ya see I gotta do the right thing for my family So I smile and say that the world is just fine As these fucking parasites eat up my spine So I ask you once and I ask you again Where do your roots start and where do your roots end

GOD'S QUESTIONS TO JOB AND HOW WE NEED A LION KING 2 "WE ARE ONE" MOMENT IN SEASON 3
Has anybody talked about the fact that when god talks to Job and lists all these things Job hasn't done and doesn't understand as means of dismissing his questions, she's kind of listing things we've seen Crowley do?
"do you know how I created the earth?"
Of course he does. Even if he wasn't involved in the planning stages of earth, he was there when she created it (IF she created it at all and didn't just let angels do it as she did with the other planets and stars)
"where were you when i layed the foundations of the earth, Job?"
Propably watching. Or being briefed on it.
"were you there when all the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?"
Propably singing with the morning stars or shouting with the angels.
"do you know the rules of the heavens?"
Always did and still does. Heaven is like a bee hive, they never change their passwords, god is not talking to anybody, and they're just as bad as hell.
"Did you set the constellations in the sky?"
He quite literally did.
"Can you send lightning bolts and get them to report back to you?"
WE SAW HIM DO THAT THIS SEASON THIS CANNOT BE A COINCIDENCE!
"Did you give wings to peacocks, Job, or teach the ostrich to run?"
I mean...let's bend the question a bit and just say Crowley gave wings to goats.
AND you know who we witnessed going on and on about how great whales are? CROWLEY!
By asking these questions, god wants to silence Job. she doesn't grant him the right to have questions about how she does things when he can neither comprehend nor has witnessed her power and the beginnings of the world he inhabits. if she names understanding the power to create and bend the elements and being there for the creation of the universe as reqirements for questioning her actions then, if you held her to her word, that would mean that by her own standarts she was wrong for casting Crowley out of heaven. I mean sure, we all kind of already know that, my boy has done nothing wrong in his life but it all kind of drives home the point that by all means there SHOULD have been a suggestion box. the angels helped her create the universe, she seemed to have outsourced an awful lot of jobs that come with creating a universe and she took all the credit.
God is in the wrong. and I think both Crowley and Aziraphale need to understand this.
sure, Crowley kind of knows he's been treated unfairly and he internally wrestles with god but the extend to which his trust has been broken by being cast out has traumatized him and he needs to fully acknowledge the fact that he didn't just get an overly harsh punishment for a mistake he made, he didn't make any mistake at all. I need him to say it. I need to see that he believes it. Thinking that he made an unforgiveable mistake made him internalize the message that he must be evil. all the demons did. its why hell is the ways it is and demons look the way they look. they're still angels in every way but status and name. they're angels who've been told they're so bad that they deserve only to live in the basement and they do evil because they've been branded as such for a crime that shouldn't have been one.
Aziraphale needs to understand that God was wrong for casting Crowley out of heaven. Crowley wasn't wrong to question God. He needs to learn that demons aren't inherently anything (it really bothered me when he said "Even demons aren't that stupid" in S2), they're just fallen and being fallen is not directly linked to a moral failure on their part. It's why I think that he's too misguided to change heaven until he eventually realizes this. Aziraphale still holds heaven in high regard and he has defended and excused heavens actions because while he knows that the angels who run heaven are at times incompetent or corrupt, he still believes in god and that her plan and her decisions must be the epitome of good. he thinks the legitimacy of the dicataorship that is heaven is a question of competency ( a competency he thinks he can provide). Aziraphale needs to understand that there is no such thing as a good dictatorship. the system is broken and he needs to break it. there should neither be a heaven nor a hell. god isn't inherently good. People shouldn't go to heaven or hell for reacting to circumstances that they can't control. Wee Morag shouldn't be in hell for helping a friend trying to save them from starvation. But she might be. And I think S3 is gonna address this.

I'm saying this on anon because last time I shared my opinion, other people (not you) attacked me. I am a huge fan of this blog, but I've been noticing something I'd like to share.
I agree that he isn't the worst in terms of meanness or abuse, but that still doesn't change the fact he is abusive to Yui. You do say this too, but it also comes off as disingenuous at times? It's briefly mentioned he does bad things (not really ever discussed what horrible things he's done), and then it's followed up by "well, at least he's not as bad as "X" person" or is followed up with a list of his "good" traits.
I understand you just want to promote your favorite DL boy, but the way its done feels very biased to the point where it's not consistent or sometimes hypocritical. For example, I found it a bit concerning with the criticisms of Laito as a child, as he was literally being sexually abused. Is it really fair to label Ayato's abuse as one to be more sympathetic towards, when they both were horrible? I guess that's the impression I was getting.
Once again, it's 100% okay to like Ayato as a character, and I do too, but the way your "facts" about Ayato and how the other characters are worse than him in terms of abuse, support, etc don't really seem all that consistent or fairly presented. You aren't obligated to write about the abusiveness of Ayato, but you do have a very large audience, and I know a few others feel the same but have been scared to comment.
// While I understand your point of view, I'd like to point out that you misunderstood me and almost everything I said in this post.
I literally always mention that Ayato is an abusive character, which must not be excused, and the reason I usually compare him to others is because he's seen as such a horrible person in this fandom while he's more on the nice side; he was even confirmed in a book as the friendliest and most approachable character. Abuse is still abuse, but there are different types of abuse. Ayato is a misunderstood and mischaracterized character who is always portrayed as the worst, despite being the poor excuse of a bad guy. I can't believe some people in HDB found his actions unforgivable while justifying and thirsting over characters who abused Yui in far worse ways.
His form of abuse is basically… pranks. He’s a DO-S but not in the way of harming people, but scaring them. Darts scene? He intended to scare her by piercing her heart with the darts, but instead kissed her. School scene? He drank her blood and pretended leaving Yui there but 5 seconds later he picked her up. Underground scene? He put handcuffs on her then pretended to leave but Yui kept screaming for him so he came out of hiding and let her go. Mysterious package scene? He gave her a mini skirt so as to make fun of her. The only time when he was violent (not counting bad endings since those are the “wrong” ones) was during the blood moon (when all vampires, as predators, get this desire to hunt and are more lustful), when he strangled her in one of the Maniac chapters. Normal HDB Ayato would never let Yui harm herself; he doesn’t get any satisfaction out of that, nor would he ever harm her in his routes (unless you count bites, lol, but he’s a vampire…). Even in Laito’s route, he helped Yui removing the handcuffs Laito had placed on her when she told him she wanted her hands to be cut off. Of course, nobody should ever allow such things in real life; it is bullying and toxic, and this should not be romanticized, but in a game about extremely sadistic monsters, he's definitely on the "not that bad" side. He never forced Yui to do anything scary, nor did he project his insecurities onto her or fill her with his own problems. And I know he called Yui "prey" in MB, which made her cry a lot, yet humans really are prey in their eyes. Still, Yui admits in the last ecstasy chapter that she was selfish for being too obsessed with Ayato's love rather than trying to understand him, and this was one of Yui's best developments because it demonstrated her learning from her mistakes. Ayato was also in the wrong; he should have tried to express his feelings rather than bottle them up, but I'm glad they both got together.
Side note: He is the Sakamaki who has insulted Yui the least (ik bare minimum). He called her flat (which everyone did) dumb and said her clothes lacked sex appeal, but he never made her feel insecure about her face. However, for some reason, he's always the one in headcanons who says things like "I don't like ugly women!" or stuff like that. One of the reasons I love Ayato is that he is the only one who genuinely used KIREI on her, and not only one time, which is something I will never stop talking about. This is so significant because in the majority of otome games, the love interests call the heroine “kawaii” and “kirei” is actually rarely used since it has a much bigger impact in Japan.
I may appear biased, but the thing is… Ayato is already a biased character by the company, and I'm not just saying that because he's always in the center of everything. He appears to be the favorite character of Rejet's most important employees, including Rejet's CEO (who also wrote some character songs and YB), Yamada-san (one of the route and CD drama writers + Young blood writer), and others. It's fine to express your displeasure with their bias toward him, but at the end of the day, we're just the players, and they're the creators, so there's nothing we can do. Also, Rejet confirmed all of the "horrible" things you mentioned:
1. When Ayato is accused of doing something bad, it isn't as sinister as you might think. It simply means causing mischief, or playing pranks on others, and this was demonstrated even on routes that were not his own. Still mean, but not horrifying.
2. It’s canon that all he did with the sacrificial brides was feed off them. Yes, they were innocent souls, but this official short story (translated by Koiiro on WP) explains the entire situation better. Basically, Yui explained that she has to eat meat even though she feels a bit bad for the animals killed in the process, but Ayato compares it to the sacrificial brides to cheer her up and explains that it's the circle of life. Vampires, after all, require blood to survive:
Ayato— “I don't feel sorry for those who are sacrificed."
Yui—"…eh?"
Ayato— "Because they're eaten by the great me. The weak can live within the strong, right? They should be grateful."
Yui— "Ayato-kun…"
Ayato— Titless looks surprised somehow. I look away from her, thinking that what just I said is an obvious thing.
Yui— "…thank you. You really are kind, Ayato-kun."
Ayato— For some reason, I hear Titless thanking me from behind.
Ayato— "Huh!? What do you mean?"
Yui— "…eh? I mean… at the very least, my blood isn't simply going to waste inside of you. When the thought crossed my mind, I just felt that way somehow…"
Ayato— Titless shyly smiles as she answers.
After hearing Yui's confession, Ayato goes into Tsundere mode, exclaiming, "It was about Takoyaki!" even though Yui knew very well he meant sacrificial brides.
No, @ DL fandom, he did not torture previous sacrificial brides as you might think. I know I'm probably one of the few DL fans who have access to a bunch of information about the franchise, but I'd really appreciate it if people would stop judging a character without knowing the facts.
Now, let's talk about Laito. I'm sorry, but I believe you completely missed the point of what I was trying to say. I never said Ayato's past was more worthy of sympathy than Laito's; I just said that both of them had it rough and that Laito shouldn't envy him for it, because Ayato's life wasn't perfect either.
Tumblr media
As a person who got a pure 100% on my psychology exam, NEWSFLASH: Psychological, Neglect, Sexual and Physical abuse are the main types of abuse and they’re EQUALLY bad. Just because Laito was sexually abused doesn't mean Kanato, who was neglected, or Ayato, who was tortured and had many near-death experiences, had it better than him, and thinking that way is extremely insensitive. Worst past ≠ Saddest past. What makes Laito's past sadder than Ayato's is that Laito was severely impacted by it, whereas Ayato not so much. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love Laito, and I'm a Laito stan, but dismissing his brother’s trauma is still wrong. That is equivalent to saying:
Person A: I was beaten up everyday to the point that I almost died over and over.
Person B: But you will never understand the pain of being rap€d.
Abuse is not a competition; everyone reacts differently; some people heal faster than others; and one thing is certain: Ayato's, Laito's, or anyone else's trauma will never be an excuse for abusive behavior.
Oh and actually, everything I mentioned are 100% canon facts??? They aren’t sugarcoated in Ayato’s favor, he really is portrayed by Rejet as a hero. He even came in first place among all Rejet boys, from all of their games, when it came to protecting you/MC in a fight against a powerful enemy.
Tumblr media
Ayato and Azusa are both the most helpful Diaboys in the franchise, so claiming that Ayato is less supportive than his brothers is a huge lie. Sure, he's not always supportive, but he's more than the other Sakamakis and unquestionably more heroic. I focus on his positive traits rather than his negative ones because he has more positive traits than negative ones, lol. Ayato has done far more good than bad, so he deserves to be reminded of those rather than his flaws.
I'm sorry you got hate for sharing your opinion; nobody deserves to be hated for something like that, but maybe think outside the box next time? Or perhaps try to better analyze the situation? I don't mean to come across as mean; I have nothing against this ask, and I appreciate that you enjoy my blog; it's just that some fans are extremely defensive of their favorite Diaboy to the point of being very irascible. ^^”

so i've been shirking a lot of my duties lately because Pikmin 4 is out and man Pikmin 4 is good. it's got it all- its core game loop is so meticulously polished and optimized to not waste your time, the new sort of minigame modes it introduces are all challenging and enjoyable, it looks fantastic...
...and i said in a post recently that nothing annoyed me about it, but that i might find something later. so here's a comprehensive list of things that annoy me about Pikmin 4, to demonstrate the level of nitpicking i have to go to to find flaws in this game.
As previously mentioned, the tutorial is a bit too long- it's ages before you get your hands on even a single pikmin. They really want to teach you how to use that dog (which, in fairness, the dog is super useful.)
The load times are kind of unforgivably bad for a first-party title in an actual cartridge. It's rough stuff, especially when there's several back-to-back during phase transitions.
The departure cutscene- though skippable, thankfully- I usually don't skip because the music is nice and it's cool to see a bird's-eye view of the area when you're done for the day. Except in this game, the camera stays in a bit too tight and all you ever get to see is the ground. Lame.
The story's kind of trite, I guess. Pikmin's never had a super strong narrative element and doesn't really need one, but these rescue squad losers are pretty one-dimensional and kinda ruin the sense of solitude and discovery. (Also it it-was-all-a-dream retcons all the previous Pikmin games' stories out of existence for some reason??? Like, no big loss, but weird decision considering there was absolutely no need to do that.)
oh yeah no one was gonna be fooled by that fakeout midgame ending, lol. don't waste my time with that crap
The character creator is pretty bad- it's kind of impossible to make anything that looks good with the limited palette of options, and the choice to use the same character creator to design all the castaway NPCs (and main cast!) was a decent idea in theory but in practice all the NPCs look randomly-generated and just awful. Zero points for character design there.
Endless menu notifications for things you've already seen. Like, yeah, I know there's a log entry for this new pikmin I just found, you just showed it to me, I don't need a flashing "New!" indicator until I go into the menu and re-read the thing I just read. And kind of weird that B is "go from the map to the log menu" and not "dismiss the map".
There's a special mode that unlocks after a certain point in the game which is just like an entire Pikmin 1 inside Pikmin 4, which is fun but if you want to back out of it and put it on hold it's not super clear how to do that while keeping your progress. (You have to just exit from the pause menu during gameplay.)
rot13 for spoilers: Gurl oebhtug gung fgrnzebyyre zbgureshpxre sebz Cvxzva 2 onpx!!! Shpx gung guvat!!! Ohg zber vzcbegnagyl, shpx Pbyyva jub jba'g fuhg hc nobhg ubj V fubhyq whfg eha njnl naq cebprrq guebhtu gur yriry jvgubhg trggvat nyy gur gernfher naq pbzr onpx bapr vg'f qrnq! V'z abg tbaan qb gung orpnhfr V'z abg n ONOL, Pbyyva! Lrf, V XABJ vg'f qnatrebhf! Shpxvat rirelguvat ba guvf cynarg vf qnatrebhf, Pbyyva! Guvf vf abg n arj qrirybczrag!
The progression design is a little out of whack, I think- rather than each new area having an onion and being designed around the pikmin from that onion, there's multiple redundant onions and you frequently get new types from candypop buds in dungeons, so you learn to use them while they're extremely limited and precious before getting the ability to make more of them later on. I'm not sure it works as a design choice- it just kind of means I don't use onionless pikmin unless I'm forced to.
Note that none of these are gripes with the primary gameplay loop. The primary gameplay loop is fine! Playing the game still feels perfect, polished to a mirror shine... with thus far only one exception. That exception being:
Okay so you've got your onion, right? You bring stuff to it and seeds come out and plant themselves around it. You go to the onion to take pikmin in and out, too. What's the button to do that? You stand under it and press A. What's the button to start auto-picking all the planted pikmin whether they've bloomed yet or not? You stand a millimeter to the left of that and press A. Hrm.
Now this wouldn't be a problem because there's a contextual button popup that says which thing will happen when you press A. So you only pluck when it says pluck, right?
NO, IT LIES
If you press A to go into the add/remove pikmin screen- sometimes that screen is unresponsive, and it won't say why, but it's because you're in the middle of plucking pikmin, actually. Your stupid dog was a millimeter to the left and decided that it was going to do its own, different thing when you pressed A, which was start auto-plucking.
They had to program that in!! They had to program in a behavior for the menu to not respond when your dog is in the middle of plucking pikmin!! So they knew this could happen! And instead of fixing it so that the game does what the button prompt says instead of a different thing that's invisible, they said "okay, tell them no, you have to back out and tell your dog to stop first."
"Also your dog won't listen to you until it's already auto-plucked at least one pikmin, so now your squad of flower guys is going to have one premature leafy straggler."
Like, come on! This happens constantly! There's no way it didn't come up in QA! Why in the world wouldn't you fix this? It's so obviously a problem and so easy to solve! Auuuuugh.
Anyway that is literally everything I can think of that's bad about Pikmin 4. The rest of it is tremendously satisfying and I like it a lot. 9/10 game for sure.

Ive actually seen people be like "Eggman is a good person deep down, he just knows he can achieve his goals through malice" but like... If he had a shred of good inside him, would he really name his space base "The DEATH Egg", or awaken an ancient water god that leveled a whole city, or blow up half a moon and possibly cause casualties from lunar tides going haywire alone, or split the planet into its contents simply to awaken Satan itself to steal its power? No good person would do any of that tbh.
Lol exactly, he doesn't have goodness, care, or empathy for a single other soul and he definitely isn't secretly hiding a good side of him that does and I highly doubt that could change either, it wouldn't make sense with how far he's gone without a single ounce of remorse and no known limits that don't include the planet he wants to rule being entirely destroyed so it ceases to exist. I much prefer to think he knows he could accomplish his goals through good and has all the means to do so but specifically enthusiastically chose the path of evil with full self awareness of how bad and wrong it is because he genuinely enjoys the methods and being evil. It would make a whole lot more sense with everything he's ever done.
I don't get the far fetched theories because why would he have to lie, manipulate, and use propaganda if he was secretly hiding a good side? If the truth proved he was genuinely good hearted and wanted to help people, it would make everyone love and give him the attention he desires, so he could just be honest about what he wants and wouldn't have to take over by force and demand it. But the only time he's ever promised anything good for anyone or expressed desire to change his ways for good have all been blatant lies and it's consistently shown to be a huge mistake to trust and believe him. But I still see real people believe his moments of blatant lies, so apparently he's really good at fooling them too XD
Taking away everyone's freedom and having full control over their minds and beings isn't beneficial to anyone, no matter how much people downplay or sugarcoat it. It's supposed to be evil and fucked up and only beautiful to him and he has to lie and manipulate and use propaganda where he says love is mandatory for a reason. He's going to severely damage the environment and pollute everything heavily, his machines are made for destruction and will replace everything he's destroyed to reshape the planet into his dark twisted image. He won't give a fuck about the feelings or conditions of anyone but himself because there's no free will, they have to do everything he wants. People will either die or live to suffer and honestly the ones that live will be worse off.
Creations of his called the Death Egg and his deadly theme parks with attractions that can kill people in gruesome ways that he's fully aware of clearly enjoys detailing and joking about certainly don't imply goodness in him and his actions lol. No good man would awaken terrible beasts to cause mass amounts of destruction and gain power and control, destroy half of the moon and threaten that people are next if they don't submit and give him control, attempt to kill children and random innocent people, be manipulative and abusive mentally and physically, attempt genocide and carelessly cause tons of collateral damage all the time, intentionally damage wildlife and the environment with deforestation and pollution. The list goes on and on. No good man could go that far.
It just doesn't make any sense for him to be good deep down and hide morals and limits! I can't comprehend anyone thinking otherwise about game canon Eggman, no matter how hard I try. And to act like it's possible for him to come back from all that is also just as absurd. I also think it really wouldn't be a great message to send because someone that's done all the things he's done are in way too deep and unforgivable and irredeemable. Especially evident if they can pretend to want to change their ways but just use it to trick people and stab them in the back, like Eggman has done many times. But fans that want him to be a good person usually don't acknowledge all that or downplay it, so I don't think they realize.
Eggman is supposed to be a selfish character to his very core, it's one of his key character traits. And he hasn't been shown to be capable of feeling empathy, remorse, or genuine goodness that isn't a trick to fool and manipulate to get what he wants and then betray. His official bio of Advance 2 saying that he's "without a thought for anybody else" wasn't kidding. All the moments I've seen people try to use as evidence for otherwise have been taken out of context and misinterpreted, despite it not genuinely blatantly suggesting what they're arguing at all. It often involves putting words in his mouth and deciding it means something else, even though the actual scenes and every he says and actually heavily proves against it.
I love seeing Eggman exactly as he is and loving him for it, not out of believing that it's all a lie and he's actually an entirely different person. I really don't understand the appeal of the latter. There's no tragic sad reason for his evil and his lovable charming charismatic personality that would just make it sad and depressing, he's just a maniacal genius that has a blast being evil and loves making inherently innocent things like theme parks, circuses, carnivals, toys, etc, and turning them into dark twisted fucked up things that are only fun to himself and horrifying and deadly for everyone else. He's power hungry and wants to be hailed for the brilliant genius he is and will not only do whatever fucked up evil it takes but loves every second of it.
And I adore every second of this bastard's evil, he's fucked up and badass AND funny and charming and it commonly overlaps in interesting ways. It's fucking awesome that he can do both so well! No goodness in him required to be the entertaining, lovable, enjoyable character he is. And his evil is part of what makes him so entertaining with all his epic thrilling moments and it makes so many of the stories in the games possible in the first place. Evil is epic and fun and not something every villain needs to be capable of changing or hiding a nice side deep down. I wouldn't change a single thing about Eggman, he's a perfect silly selfish evil asshole bastard man in my eyes 💜🥚

ok the reason i think silver is such a good villain isnt because of his cartoon-evil cheesiness or his character theme (although those certainly do contribute to it). the reason i think hes so good is what his presence means for daniel's character. throughout the tkk movies (and you can see it continue in ck) there's this really heavy importance put into the lessons that the students learn from their teachers. you see it with mr miyagi and daniel, you see it with kreese and johnny, you see it with sato and chozen. in the latter two cases, you can see the negative light of this, how a teacher with an inherently bad philosophy can carry over to how their student acts. kreese teaches johnny to be unforgiving and merciless so that's what johnny ends up being. sato is fueled by his anger at mr miyagi even years later and thus chozen is an all-around angry little dude that wants to kill daniel.
but in tkk3 you do not get a two-part villain dynamic like this! instead it's daniel who learns under a bad teacher and is taught all the wrong lessons from them. i think this theme is particularly hardlined by the fact that silver deliberately tries to separate daniel and mr miyagi so that he can become a presence in daniel's life. "there's no such thing as a bad student, only a bad teacher" is something that daniel hasnt experienced at all up until silver takes mr miyagi's place. and this sets up a really interesting internal conflict for daniel that you dont see in the previous movies. you have his inherent kindness + what he's learned from mr miyagi vs the conflicting things he's currently learning from silver. and it causes him to doubt/be frustrated with himself as he isolates himself more and more; he doesnt know whats right anymore, he's angry at himself for how he doesnt know, and thus a part of him doesn't trust himself to be around the people he cares about .
essentially: in tkk3, daniel isn't fighting against a fellow karate student that might have turned out different if they had a better/more forgiving teacher. barnes has always been like that™ from the beginning, even without silver hiring him. daniel's main battle in the movie is with himself, because he is the one that takes the role that was filled by chozen in tkk2 and johnny in tkk1 before that. and it's actually kinda heartbreaking to see bc, again, daniel is a really nice kid and he's unknowingly being manipulated into becoming someone he's not, and he has to struggle to find the person he is again through the midst of all of this .
i think from the beginning the entire reason silver wanted to train daniel wasn't just so that he could separate him from mr miyagi or cause daniel to hurt himself or even teach him to be more like him. it was mainly to construct the internal conflict that i talked about earlier. he knows that his and miyagi's philosophies are fundamentally incompatible and that daniel doesn't really want to hurt anyone. so when daniel takes enough of silver's training to heart to punch a dude in the nose, silver is ecstatic—not because daniel took out his rage on someone, but because of the meltdown that daniel has afterwards. it's why when daniel confronts him about it silver has no qualms about revealing that he's the one that hired barnes and that surprise daniel its been me thats been ruining your life all along. because that part of his plan is essentially done. he has already caused the big emotional damage and from there on out its only a matter of "beat the shit out of this child at the karate tournament". yeah his intentions are kinda weird and muddled (thank you to ck for clearing it up and saying he was high on cocaine the entire time) but you cant deny that his character does a LOT for daniel's arc in this movie .
also kinda unrelated but. love how daniel ends up following silver in the first place primarily bc he got manipulated into thinking "mr miyagi will get hurt if i don't do this/i'm not strong enough to defend him against barnes". it makes me feel feelings and emotions. like daniel just loves his karate dad so much he'll give up being his student if it means his stupid dream tree business can succeed. daniel my son /affectionate. im about to fall over and die

Sunny and Raghav: Converging and Diverging
The show itself draws several comparisons between the two men, and this analysis compares some of their key character traits with each other.
I've been meaning to comment on this for a while, and trying to gather my own thoughts on all the Sunny and Raghav comparisons, both in show and in all our discussions here. Just a disclaimer, this is all coming from someone who's a huge fan of Sunny and what he brings to the show in terms of conflict and character, and I think he's being portrayed by a fabulous actor. Up until his suicide threat to get Kirti to run off with him, and the heavy misogyny we've seen in this week, I was pretty much on board for SunKi as well. Haan, badtameez hai- so what? Iss show mein kaun badtameez nahi hai? Even Pallavi, who's the most 'good' character in the show has said some pretty rude and unacceptable and judgemental things in the past, so none of that ever really bothered me. It's only the last couple of weeks of episodes that have me raging at him.
Honestly, I'm glad Pallavi didn't speak in Raghav's defence at Sunny's taunt today. She'd have no leg to stand on there, he is badtameez beyond belief, and besharam about it 🤷🏻‍♀️But there are a lot of reasons that Raghav's behaviour doesn't grate at me the same way Sunny's does.
I also just want to acknowledge that I know that I belong to a very tiny portion of the fandom who didn't really like Raghav right off the bat. His behaviour doesn't grate at me now, but there was a time I used to be as frustrated, if not more, at him as I am at Sunny these days. He's behaved in inexcusable ways that I can move on from only because I know this is fictional story. The first time I felt genuine affection for Raghav was when he was overwhelmed by guilt after finding out the truth about Sulochana, so I definitely don't intend to underplay any of the things he's done and I'm more than happy to give Sunny the same chance, if he shows the same inclinations. Even then, I have to say I find Sunny worse in many aspects.
First, the blatant misogyny. This was a trait Raghav appeared to have hints of in initial episodes, but they quickly toned it down and phased it out, and I'm glad for that. By the time the show found its groove, his issues with Pallavi stemmed significantly from who he thought she was as a person, and all the misunderstandings between them as individuals, rather than her gender.
Second, I agree with Pallavi's point of seeing how a person treats those 'below' them in terms of social stature. Raghav's been downright rude to his staff in the past, right from episode 2. But he's not been straight-up demeaning in the way Sunny was to Naidu the other day. Plus, not to forgive any kind of unnecessary rudeness, Raghav obviously has a lot of goodwill with his staff- he cares for them, helps them when in trouble, and is protective of them. They'll allow him some leeway (they shouldn't- bad behaviour is bad behaviour, full stop), and I kind of get it. It's like we give our friends the rights to mess with us in ways it would be downright unacceptable for strangers to. To behave the way Sunny did with someone else's employee is just...it makes me feel terrible. (That said, I've mentioned this in previous threads as well, but Raghav needs to learn to be more polite to his employees- as a boss to so many, the art of being firm but respectful is something he needs to hone, despite his good actions to them).
Third, I find the similarities between how Raghav treated Pallavi and Sunny treated Kirti absolutely fascinating. Both men acted in typically abusive ways that would alienate the women from their social support networks (predominantly families) by leveraging their weaknesses against them. Raghav leveraged her love for Nikhil to force her into a marriage, after which any reconciliation would be out of question. Sunny leveraged her affection for him by threatening to commit suicide to get her to run away and live on his terms. Atrocious, unforgivable behaviour by both, but what's telling to me, personally, is who they directed their behaviour at? For Raghav, it was directed at his enemy, the person responsible for miseries that have befallen the people he loves. For Sunny, he directed this at his girlfriend who he claims to love, who loves him back unconditionally. That's where things get scary for me to watch, because women married to men like him, who dole out abuse under the guise of love, have a tendency to end up battered or dead.
Pallavi's concern right now, it reminds me a lot of Sharda's panic when she walked into the wedding. She could see her daughter jumping off a cliff by tying herself into what was going to be an abusive and toxic marriage, and she was desperate to stop it. Right now, Pallavi is the only one who has seen Sunny for what he is, both how he behaved with her, and how she saw him behave with Kirti today. Raghav and Jaya have suspicions, sure, but she's the only one who knows. She's desperate to prevent her friend from marrying such a man, and I get it. I would absolutely try to intervene if my friend or sister was with someone like Sunny, even at the cost of my own relationship with them, for the sake of their own safety wellbeing. But Sharda couldn't stop Pallavi, and unless Kirti sees the reality, Pallavi won't be able to stop her either. This has to come from within.
Still, she's giving him a chance, the same way she gave one to Raghav. Raghav grabbed onto it to genuinely try and become better, and what will define Sunny's worthiness will be what he does with the opportunity. My guess is, he's not going to change much. His words and actions are not driven by any grudge or incident, but by his deep seated beliefs, which are very hard to change, but I'm interested to see if he does take the opportunity to grow here.
------
Adding this because it came up in a lot of discussions. I left this out initially because I wanted to focus on Sunny more than Raghav, but I think it's important to flag.
I have a theory about Raghav's abuse towards his staff. If we look at him in the first 10-15 episodes, and we look at him in episode 20 onwards, a lot of initial traits have been dropped. The strong MCP attitude, and the aggression towards staff is one of them, and I think this is intentional, because initial reception of the character was fairly critical. And it was well deserved, because his behaviour sucked.
In fact, I believe two scenes were added specifically to overcorrect for these traits:
1) the drunk lecture to Farhad about women being the backbone of society, to correct for the initial misogyny
2) the scene with his staff member whose sun fixed up his table tennis racket to emphasise how caring for his staff he is to correct for his behaviour towards his staff
Because honest to God, those two scenes serve absolutely no other purpose than to tell the audience, "Hum character thoda badal rahe hain, pehle waala ignore karo please"
But yes, I really don't like his behaviour to his staff, including Farhad. Chahe jitna bhi help kare, and they may be forgiving of it all because he does them right in other ways, you shouldn't talk to people like that. It's a legit character flaw, and I will not defend him, because he's wrong on that front, undoubtedly.

I Talk About Bakugou Because I'm Bored
Bakugou. He's best boy. My son.
No, actually, I'mma explain in as few words as possible why I absolutely adore his character.
Oops this got long.
Okay, so it's the first chapter/episode (I'll go off the anime because it's practically identical and more widespread) and it opens with Deku narrating. This is to establish an immediate connection between the audience and the main protagonist; it conveys how important Deku is. Plenty of shows do this so it's not really a big deal, just common practise. HOWEVER, the second character we hear speak is Bakugou, who is insulting Deku.
This is framed in a way that's supposed to make us dislike him, and continues all throughout the first episode. He's presented as a four year old trying to beat up our main character, and then his next scene is being ten years older and Still Trying To Beat Up Our Main Character. This makes him seem rotten to the core, as his character hasn't changed whatsoever in that time, and as an audience we know very little information about him.
On top of that, within this first episode he is deliberately made to have no redeeming qualities, nothing that could make him sympathetic in any way. The Sludge Villain fiasco isn't until ep2, and in this one he literally tells Deku to kill himself, reaching peak middle school bully. He destroys something the Main Protagonist clearly treasures and is privelaged in every conceivable way, even his (later obviously intense) desire to be a hero is simplified to monetary gain, with "I'll be even richer than All Might himself!!!" (or something to that effect). Later on I'd explain such a line to be a result of young Baku trying to quantify his future success, something he never mentions again after the Sludge Villain.
In these first twenty minutes of the anime, he's been absolutely dragged through the mud. Not only is he this arrogant, selfish, mean bully, he's also the sort of bully we can all relate to having, making him even more dislikable! It's so easy for an audience to write him off as irredeemable almost immediately.
But then comes ep2. Seasoned anime watchers likely brush over some small details, but the fact that the Sludge Villain attack happens when Bakugou is 14? Wow. At this point no one likes him, and to many people seeing this happen could come across as a sort of karmic punishment, deserving and therefore less sympathetic. And so Horikoshi succeeds in continuing to make him dislikable but also adding depth to this character who so clearly believed he was invincible.
However, any such depth is pretty much ignored by the audience. I've watched many reactions, and, at this point, due to Bakugou's sub par personality, most people don't care about what happened upon first viewing. To be fair, it's treated as background until Deku steps in and proves himself a hero, at which point he's promised a quirk and That's all anyone can think about.
(also there's some symbolism in this ep because Bakugou and Deku were both attacked by the Sludge Villain and saved by All Might, showing they are actually equals in character and have a lot in common.)
Anyway, so for the first few episodes no one gives two shits about Bakugou because he's meant to be dislikable. He's set up to be as bad as possible without needing to be arrested/never being redeemable. Yet, he's also not clearly set up to be redeemed whatsoever. Let me explain:
Quick break from bnha to head over to atla, Zuko is the perfect redemption arc. And some of that can be attributed to his presentation in the first few episodes: where he's portrayed as antagonistic but still honourable, and has a tragic past. He's the sort of character you know isn't actually bad at heart. But Bakugou hasn't got any tragic back story to speak of, and certainly isn't honourable, so we don't expect a redemption.
That's so interesting to me, because it basically means his character could go in any direction but most shounen fans expect him to be the typical rival. He's mean now and will be mean later, nbd. Will probably betray Deku in order to gain more power. That sort of stuff.
But, as the first season progresses, we're shown that Bakugou (on top of all of his anger issues and cruelty) is also so incredibly determined, to the point where it's harmful. A lot of people, even in season three, expect him to accept the LoV's offer, but as early as ep7 he's shown to be dedicated to being the best on his own. He utterly fails at pretending to be a villain, and doesn't manage to work with his "villain" teammate. When the USJ attack rolls around, he fights alongside Deku.
I feel like I've just word babbled for a while so here's a picture:
Tumblr media
Isn't that adorable? Anyway, I continue.
Okay, recap: Bakugou is presented initially as bad and in no way sympathetic, but throughout season one some of his good qualities do get highlighted.
The Sports Festival is probably when I was most on edge about who my favourite character was. Todoroki vs Deku vs Bakugou was a whole internal debate. We all know who eventually won though. Point is, this is the first time Bakugou is supposed to seem likeable.
Like, yes, he helped out at the USJ, but he was still reckless and angry about it. In this arc his flaws stop seeming so antagonistic (even though he's now more at odds with 1-A than he's ever been) and are framed humorously; if you think about it, the only times you're not rooting for Bakugou in this whole arc is when you're laughing at his antics. He stops seeming like a massive unforgivable bully and becomes a secondary threat behind Todoroki, even though he ultimately wins the Festival.
One of the first things he does in the season is tell people messing with their class go away, albeit bluntly, and is then complimented for it by Kirishima, who is the nicest guy in the class! No longer are we supposed to necessarily dislike him, as he's being developed after all of season 1. Him saying "I'm gonna win" as his speach is expected by the audience and laughed at- absolutely nobody watching was scared he'd hurt Deku in some terrible way due to it.
The cavalry battle demonstrates that he can work in a team after some adjustment time, and he gets his own antagonist (Monoma) who we all root against! This makes us closer to his character, as in a way we have a common enemy.
Then obviously the single battles are super interesting, his one against Uraraka especially turning people to his side. Since Aizawa, who as an audience we trust after his actions at the USJ, backs up Bakugou's actions, we accept them as the right thing to have done. Especially since Bakugou later calls Uraraka "not fragile", demonstrating that he can respect people and actually isn't as discriminatory as his earlier actions against Deku might lead one to believe. Everything about this fight is pure gold.
The rest of his fights are also very interesting, so let me go off on a little tangent. He's the only person to 1) be uninjured by the end of the festival (he did win tho so...) and 2) he's the only person to win all of his fights by forcing his opponent into submission. He knocks out Uraraka and Kirishima, goes to knock out Tokoyami but has him give up instead and then knocks out Todoroki! His fights are so much more violent than the others, who are primarily trying to win by pushing their opponent out of the ring or by immobilising them, which could make him come across as more aggressive (which he is). But it actually works for his character considering the way he demonstrates respect is by giving his all, therefore in order to show he cares about these fights he has to go for absolutely decimating the person against him.
Also, interesting side note to all that, out of our main three festival contenders, Bakugou is the only one who actually needs to use the festival for its intended purpose: impressing scouts. Todoroki, as the son of Endeavour, is already known throughout the hero community as a promising young talent, and could even get the No2 hero to coach him if he so wished. Deku even says himself that he doesn't necessarily need to get scouted when All Might is already teaching him. Out of the three Bakugou has the most incentive to actually show off here, no guilt/baggage required.
Anyway blah Stain arc blah. Bakugou picks Jeanist to intern with, which many might think makes him shallow. Their quirks are in no way similar and their images are almost diametrically opposing, and Bakugou only chose him because he's such a highly ranked hero. However, I believe the creators crafted this pairing in order to convey how good of a future hero Bakugou promises to be. BJ, in these episodes, is all talk. He's such a superficial hero that, in order to rectify Bakugou's foul personality, he gives him a haircut. He demonstrates the arrogant nature that Stain hates so much. Meanwhile, Bakugou ignores him and is still arrogant in his own way, obviously, but not for anything other than his own pride. He, when you break it down, spends all of his time working towards a genuinely good goal, just to prove to himself that he's worthy- no desire for fans or fame in there, he wants success but isn't actually looking for any of the perks that come with it. This, imo, makes him better than BJ. Also, Bakugou never actually says he is working with BJ due to his rank and could be doing it because their quirks botha require so much time, practice and effort.
Okay, so, now for the final exams. This is where I decided he was my favourite. He works with Deku etc and proves to the audience that he can work with him and won't necessarily become a villain, plus All Might lets loose a little and proves he too can be violent and mean.
What I really love is about ep24 s2 is actually the bit that makes a lot of people chuckle: where Bakugou bites AM's hand. This kid has been giving his absolute all, putting every ounce of strength into beating his idol, because, lbh, his self worth depends on his success here, until he literally cannot raise his arms to punch anymore. And yet, he still refuses to go down, despite every odd against him. Something about that tenacity is just so incredible to me.
It's almost 1am, let's have another break, shall we?
Tumblr media
Idk I thought it was funny when it came onto my dash.
Btw, it's now I wish I knew how to hide most of a post lololol.
Season three is just Baku's season, ngl. Like,,, so many of his Stans got their start here, and it's not hard to tell why. A big reason why Bakugou felt irredeemable was because he had no reason to be so mean, but the narrative makes up for that by then putting him through so many bad experiences.
There's been a million metas on why he's so perfect in this season, and this is already abhorrently long, but ah well.
Okay so he's captured by the League through no fault of his own. As the audience when we find out Bakugou is missing we immediately think he's done the dumb thing and gone off on his own, but it's quickly revealed that he's already been kidnapped. Tokoyami is also taken, cementing that the LoV are looking for kids with some villainous feature, but also showing that their perception of what makes a child villainous is skewed, since we know Tokoyami is good.
At the hideout Baku is entirely restrained and silent, so clearly against his will. If we remember every other time he's been restrained (so goddamn many) we'll think back to the Sludge Villain, finding out Deku had a quirk, after his *win* against Todoroki and his internship with BJ. In this way, it's obvious to tell that this is all a Bad experience for him, as those were all very negative times in his life. There's no way he'll join them.
None of the pros even consider it a possibility. Aizawa defends him against the press (and, once again, we like Aizawa! So we trust him) and none of his classmates think he could be evil, they're all primarily concerned for his safety. Even BJ, who insinuated that Baku could easily become a villain, doesn't appear to believe he'll turn down that path.
Also Baku is pretty cool when he fights of the villain like I'm ngl.
And then, when he sees All Might? And his face screws up? With his lip trembling? It's undercut with a joke but he's so obviously just a scared/relieved kid in that moment and it's gut wrenching to remember that.
It's really getting late and I'm at 11% here so speed round through the provisional licence exam.
He can tell Shindou is two faced
Even though he's blunt he's still got the instincts and smarts of a hero
The class looks up to him
Aizawa has a lot of favouritism for this child, y'all, how did I not notice this?
His failure here is intrinsic to his character growth as it means he hits absolute rock bottom and we can move onto:
Deku Vs Kacchan 2
Where to even start. The guilt and pain he experiences has made me tear up several times just from thinking about them, and that GODDAMN VOICE CRACK AS HE YELLS nope it hurts too bad.
It's sort of the culmination of every emotional issue Bakugou has exhibited throughout the series. He can't find self worth without constant praise and pressures himself to be unimaginably perfect, to a self destructive point. He has no support system in place to help him with these issues. His anger stops being repetitive/funny/annoying and is finally, clearly shown to be more damaging to himself than to anyone else, as he feels the only way he can deal with his stress and hurt is by lashing out at those who try to help him.
In this fight we also learn why Deku, even though he's Baku's victim, still looks up to him so much. And the whole dynamic is so perfect I might cry rn.
I am annoyed, though, that further than that Baku's mental health has been pretty much entirely ignored for 200 manga chapters. Probably my only complaint about him.
.
.
.
At an entirely selfish level, I can relate to Bakugou. Obviously I'm not a teenage boy with explosion powers who bullies people in order to feel any self worth, but the high standards for himself? The pain at any failures? Being told through childhood how great you are only for it to be torn away in your teens? That's all so painfully relatable to me, and so I feel an even deeper connection with his character.
One last picture to finish off:

The Slytherin inhaled as he listened to her words, keeping his grip on her wrist as he exhaled. “Yeah, it came out of nowhere and caught me off guard. But just ignoring it won’t do any good, trust me ignoring something usually makes it so much worse. And besides if something horrible should happen to me and I was gone for good, you’d have to live with the what if and do you really want to do that?” He questioned softly before he let out a sigh as he let go of her wrist, listening to her speak once more he couldn’t help but to shake his head in disbelief. “I’m far from being a saint but thank you Wanda, you seem to be the only one who see’s the good in me. Well other than my mother but I am sure she’s quite bias since I am her baby boy.”
The male had allowed the female to take his hands in hers, he just focused on breathing as he listened to what she had to say. He couldn’t help but to let another sigh escape his throat, he had tried once before to make a friend who wasn’t as bad as his current friends but the male had judged him before getting to know him and rejected him. That had hurt quite a lot so he decided to stick with Slytherins and to close his heart away, he focused more on making his father proud than worrying about anything else. As he did that he decided to make the male’s life hell, if he wanted to assume he was the wrong sorts then so be it - he’d show him the wrong sorts as long as he felt the pain he had caused.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts when the Gryffindor had finally finished her thoughts, scrunching up his nose a it as his lips curled into a frown. “I’m not in love with Pansy so I wasn’t holding my breath for a future with her, its just a in the now and see where it goes sort of thing. You assume I deserve all that but in honestly, I wish I did but I don’t. And besides I'd sort of have to allow someone to get that close to start with and if you haven’t notice, I sort of made it where no one seems to want to. And yeah maybe but I haven’t exactly decided if I want to settle down.” He spilled out as he let his face relax a tad bit, shaking his head at her in disbelief once more. Did she seriously think he was gonna forget about her little confession, if she did then she was crazy. “In Merlin’s name you can’t be serious, I aint gonna forget about you little confession Maximoff. What I can guarantee you, is that its not gonna change anything unless you let it. And you need to stop assuming what I feel, its bloody rude. You aint me so you don’t know what I feel so don’t even begin to tell me how I feel, it is one way to make me dislike you and that’s really not what .” Malfoy hissed as his nostrils flared, it wasn’t as if he tended to lose his temper on her but who gave her the right to assume how he felt?
Inhaling then exhaling before he dared speak once more, he was trying to keep his emotions in check because he wasn’t gonna lose it on her. “You are right, I don’t feel that way towards you currently so yeah we’re not gonna happen. But it still doesn’t give you the right to assume my feelings before actually talking to me about it. And stop calling it a problem, there is seriously nothing wrong with having those feelings.” He sighed out as he lowered his voice, the last thing he wanted to do what hurt her feelings but he had to be honest with her. Besides it would be for the best if she just got over him, for multiple reasons that he really didn’t want to discuss.
After a few moments had passed, the male was becoming a bit angsty. He could see the worry in her eyes, which was followed shortly by words that he was dreading to hear. “Don’t worry about it...” He muttered out in a low breath, he honestly didn’t need another person worrying about him. He would be fine - he just had to be, but unfortunately he knew that he couldn’t stop her from worrying about him. Swallowing hard as he let go of her hands and moved backwards a bit, he was all too prepared to run and avoid this subject. He could handle the other one but this one, he didn’t want to talk about.
How could he tell her his deepest darkest secret, knowing that it would change things between them for good. After all she was on Potter’s side the last time he checked, he however was on the dark lords side - not by choice tho. It was bad enough he may not survive to his seventeenth birthday but to lose his best friend? That was worst.
He parted his lips to lie and say he was fine, that it was nothing he couldn’t handle. However he was cut off when she once again spoke, a slight huff escaping his throat at the words. He doubt she could love him if she knew what he was and what he had to do, even if she managed to somehow love him then the realization of what’s gonna happen if he fails is gonna hurt her. After all he promised her that he’d always be there for her til the end, how could he tell her knowing it could cause her pain either way?
A frown settled upon his facial features as he pulled away from her, he was literally trembling at this point. He didn’t care to pretend anymore, he was so close to breaking. “Wanda--” The blond began but cut himself off, he began looking around before he turned his attention back to her. He didn’t say anything, instead grabbed her hand and took her to somewhere more private. “--You can’t help me, I’m sorry...” Draco breathed out as he put a bit of distance between them, he couldn’t stand being near her right now as what he was about to do was gonna be one of the hardest things he would ever have to do when it came to Maximoff.
The Slytherin bit down on his bottom lip hard enough to cause it to bleed as he held out his arm and flipped it over, his hand ghosting his sleeve as he looked down at it. He knew there was no turning back after he did this and he knew for sure he wasn’t ready for this but he couldn’t lie to her, she had to know what’s wrong and why he didn’t deserve anything she thought he did. Inhaling and exhaling once more as he looked up at her, once he locked eyes with her he lifted up his sleeve to reveal the dark mark that rested upon his arm. “I’m not fine, I am never gonna be find again. I am supposed to kill Dumbledore. I don’t want to do it but I have no choice, I have to do this or he’s gonna kill me. I rather pitch myself off the    Astronomy Tower than do this but he not only threatened to kill me if I fail but my parents too and I can’t let that happen, I just can’t. Its my father’s punishment for failing the dark lord not once but twice, my mother cried for weeks after I received the mission.. I have been trying for weeks to fix up a vanishing cabinet to let my Aunt Bella and a few death eaters in the castle.. I barely sleep due to that and the guilt and fear I feel is causing me to barely eat, I am basically dying inside... I didn’t tell you all this because I am terrified of losing you, not that I can blame you because death eaters killed your parents and now I am a death eater about to commit the worst unforgivable thing imaginable. I’m sorry, I am so truly sorry. You can hate me, I understand but please don’t tell anyone. Please, I am begging you.” Draco cried out as the tears fell from his eyes, he couldn’t stop himself from breaking down any longer.
Wanda was listening to Draco, her facial expression turning from relaxed to one of disappointment and worry. He had suddenly slipped but it didn't go unnoticed by his friend. "Wait. What do you mean by "if I was gone for good"? What is going on? Why are you speaking as if you're going to die?"
However, he kept talking about his relationship with Pansy, and she let him finish, but she was going to bring it back as soon as he was done speaking. The brunette frowned, looking at Draco bewildered. "What's the point of being in a relationship with someone you don't love! If you truly have no feelings for her as you said, you should stop wasting your and her time. As mean as she can be, she deserves to be with a person who loves her. You do too. You'll only hurt her and yourself if you keep this up."
Wanda felt her cheeks heat up when the Slytherin brought back the topic of her feelings. She shifted uncomfortably, swallowing hard, a look of betrayal in her eyes. Draco had ditched her for a girl he doesn't even love? To say she was feeling terrible was understandable. Rage was building up inside of her, but she put on a perfectly calm, cold expression, determined not to give him the satisfaction of knowing he had been able to hit a nerve.
"Listen, Malfoy - I've always thought you could be more than the mean person everyone knows. You have no right to play with people's feelings and you should stop leading Parkinson on, that's really shitty of you. I'm not really surprised though, you've always been up for some "entertainment"."
The girl took a breath, still looking at Draco with an emotionless face. "I won't stop calling it a problem because it clearly is one. Falling for you was a mistake especially since I now know you don't mind dating someone just for the fun of it and not because you truly have feelings for them. That's a reason I should give up on you, just as you wanted."
Wanda really couldn't imagine dating her best friend and finding out he didn't love her at all in the first place. The thought made her feel used, somehow dirty. The Gryffindor suddenly felt sorry for Pansy, whose situation was exactly this one.
After she had brought up Draco's miserable state, Wanda noticed him becoming quite uneasy and she almost regretted starting this conversation. Almost.
The girl followed him to somewhere private where they could discuss this matter in peace and waited patiently for a reply. She frowned when he let go of her hands, upset by the fact that her friend was pushing her away again. The female observed the way anxiety was seeping into Draco, she could almost hear his loud heartbeat in the deadly quiet room. Her expression softened, she was looking at him with pure love, encouraging him to share what was troubling him. It hurt her incredibly much to watch him suffer in silence, unable to help him so she was hoping he'd finally let her in.
Wanda's eyes filled with tears at the sight of Draco nearly falling apart, but she didn't say a word. With a pounding heart she watched as the boy pulled up his sleeve to reveal the dark mark on his arm. The girl let out a quiet gasp, covering her mouth, as the tears finally rolled down her cheeks. She carefully listened to her friend's explanation, not taking her eyes off the black skull and snake which rested upon his arm. The female could only take a couple of seconds before nausea hit her full force and she had to pull a chair to sit on since her legs were barely holding her at that point. The news knocked the air out of her lungs and Wanda began to rub her throat, finding it extremely hard to breathe. Countless thoughts were running through her head, each more terrifying than the one before it. She had already lost her biological parents, twin brother and adoptive parents, she wouldn't be able to bear the loss of her best friend who was her only family.
She looked up at the boy with a broken expression, nearly choking on her words. "You do realise not only Dumbledore is going to die if you complete this mission? What makes you think Voldemort won't kill you and your parents even if you succeed? Remember - he's not to be trusted, he knows no sympathy nor loyalty. He's cruel and he wouldn't hesitate to get rid of any of you if he has to, in order to win."
Wanda stood up and in the next moment the boy was in her warm embrace. The girl knew how much he needed to let it all out and she wasn't going to stop him - she let him cry into her shoulder and be broken, something he had done for her long ago.
"Draco... I can't hate you for something that's not your fault. You were forced to join the Death Eaters and you never wanted to kill anyone," Wanda spoke softly, taking Draco's hand to gently caress the skin where the mark rested, knowing how painful the process of receiving it actually is. She was absolutely shocked by how long he had managed to keep it a secret for but couldn't blame him - there's no easy way to share this secret even with your closest friends. "All of this... I can't even process it. I'm sure you know all of us are going to lose if you let the Death Eaters in. Thousands of innocent people are going to be hurt, tortured and killed..."
Wanda whimpered quietly, still not believing what she had just heard. "You've been a bully, yes, but you could never be a murderer. Your heart isn't cruel. That's why I know you're going to fail with your mission. Plus Dumbledore is the greatest wizard of all time, he can't be killed easily."
"I promise you that you do have a choice. You'll always have. You're just a boy who happened to be burdened with a terrible purpose and I know people who would gladly provide you safety. Dumbledore himself would never turn his back on people who come to him for help. Your parents would be safe too, Dumbledore would shelter them like he did with Severus Snape years ago."
Wanda squeezed her eyes shut and a few more tears fell. "If you, however, decide to finish your mission, that means you're on the Dark Lord's side and you support the people who murdered my parents. You will hurt me immensely if you betray me like that."
The girl finally opened her eyes and exhaled slowly. She looked into Draco's tortured grey eyes. Wanda didn't really care about how miserable and worn out she looked, she just stood on her tippy toes and placed and feather-like kiss on his forehead.
"Just say the word, Draco, my dear. You don't have to go through this, especially not alone. I'll be with you until the very end. Whatever it takes."

Peeking inside, the rabbit boy nervously waves at the freshman. He doesn't say anything, but just wants help with his quirk overall - the poor lad needs it as much as he needs counseling.
Uh.. Senpai? Er, I guess you’re too shy to ask, huh…? Well, that’s okay! I’ll still help you! Besides, it sounds like you really need it… Your Quirk, Misfortune, must have been really hard to cope with, huh? A Quirk that literally gives you bad luck… Not to mention the fact that it’s also dependent on your mood. Something like that needs special training of the mind, because by extension, I’m pretty sure this also means that it’s influenced by your perspective, right?
Well, to begin with, I can’t really blame you for developing a negative impression towards your own Quirk if that’s what’s going on… I’m sure it’s caused you a lot of pain and suffering with this idea that it’s something you just can’t control in itself… But, even if that’s true, that doesn’t mean it gets to control your life forever. In the end, this is a Quirk we’re talking about – a physical ability with its own limitations, drawbacks, even conditions that need to be met in order for it to work to a particular degree…! There are still ways to control the situations it brings about other than just by bearing it all yourself and preventing it from spreading onto others who don’t deserve it. It may seem like it controls bad luck and makes it revolve around you, but if you really think about it, you can turn that idea around on itself because in the end, you can also control where and who this Quirk’s influences can reach…!
For instance: Misforune only revolves around you unless you make direct skin contact with someone, or at the very least be within close proximities with someone when they happen, right? That means that even though preventing direct contact with people you care about is one thing to think about, the opposite is just quite as applicable, too. People who only aim to hurt others for their own selfish gains, especially if it’s someone you care about or people you want to protect… Whatever misfortune they plan to bring onto others, it’s possible to use your Quirk on them if you deem it right to be done, and redirect this harmful intention back at them by becoming a catalyst for things that can and will go wrong with their plans. You’d be like a boomerang, a boomerang called Karma! It– isn’t really a healthy idea now that I think about it—you’d essentially be throwing yourself into potential danger like a suicide bomber depending how severe it can get—but still, it’s a matter of how you want to look at it. It’s a power that only affects you and anybody near you, but you still get to choose who’s affected by this Misfortune, its environment. Take that power and use it for what’s good and right! Nobody else can use its own flaws against itself except you…!
Think of it like this: instead of thinking, “this power only affects me and people near me, so it’s better if I suffer alone”, why not think of it the other way around? “This power only affects me and people near me, so it’s best I choose who deserves to be affected by it or not.” Thinking it like that, it sounds like a crazy powerful Quirk, doesn’t it? You even have the element of surprise to go with it! Not even villains would be able to expect and brace for whatever it can and will do, only you and the people you tell about your Quirk to…! Sure, it still does mean that you get hurt by it in the process, and I know it might be painful and difficult to want to let that continue on.. but, knowing that you can still save others by shouldering that pain yourself, somehow, I’m sure that in turn it gets a little easier to bear it. Besides, never forget: there are people willing to share that pain so that you don’t have to suffer alone. If there’s anything I learned about being a hero, it’s that we’re willing to take the blunt of the pain for others since we’re always expecting it anyways. Heroism is quite the occupational hazard, you know?
So, to summarize it all up: depending on how you see it, your Quirk can either be your ally or enemy. It may seem like a painful and unforgiving Quirk on the outside, but because it’s you who wield it, it can also be a kind and understanding Quirk on the inside, too. You have a kind and understanding heart, Senpai, I can feel it! You’re a kindhearted person who’s got enough experience to know just what your Quirk is capable of and is still capable of using its potential to protect others from the wrong…! Which is why I know your Quirk can do just as much, too. Just.. never forget who you are deep down before your Quirk defined who you are now, okay? Learn to identify all of its mechanics, learn ways to control it with your own hands, and then, learn to go beyond what it was initially meant to be for the greater good through your own will.
Your Quirk is what you want to make of it, so make sure it’s one that can still figure out who is worth protecting, and who deserves karmic retribution. Have faith in yourself in being able to control what this Quirk can conjure up…! A strong spirit will be the key to things getting better, okay? And even if there are people out there who will try to avoid or even hurt you for it, know that there are also still people willing to join and share this pain with you, too, for something greater than one’s self.
You don’t ever, ever have to be alone in your endeavors, Senpai. You have my support and more!
