terry farrell is like So genderful in her performance as dax & it drives me bonkers bc it's impossible to explain to people without them seeing it. like you show them a picture & she just looks like a beautiful woman & you have to be like no I Swear. she Sells the woman who's also sort of a man thing. watch her move and talk and you'll Get It. but then you also feel a bit crazy as you say it

i loved nearly every second of the episode in which jadzia gets to meet each of her selves/former-dax-hosts in the bodies of her friends for so so many reasons, especially the first one with kira/lela and how absolutely sweet that was, but i genuinely felt so queasy when curzon revealed the reason he recommended jadzia not be joined was because he was in love with her.
a) it felt like it came out of nowhere for me and, from a storytelling perspective, could've been built up a bit or stretched over a few episodes
b) i hate men.
c) it is just a far more interesting story to have jadzia literally be rejected because someone found her wanting. she cannot be adored by everyone she meets. she's a person not just a beautiful woman played by beautiful terry farrell (who did such a good job with this plot twist, playing it as mostly unbothered by the feelings and entirely chivalric while still sturdy in her claim on curzon's memories). i really wanted the reason to simply be that curzon did not think much of jadzia and i wanted her to claim him anyway. they sort of did that with joran but joran was almost cartoonishly cruel to her and curzon was definitely not a cartoon. like, curzon having fallen in love with jadzia is so boring when compared to the tension earlier, before his feelings were revealed. imagine if she had claimed him still, thru even a reasonable disappointment or disdain from him. imagine if it wasn't the motherly/unconditional acceptance from when she confronted joran the first time (which i did adore, for the record), but was a bloody-knuckled and even mean fight, in which they expressed disdain for the other, and her subsumption of curzon once more was a tight-fisted tear and swallow, almost selfish as she plants her flag in curzon once more.
idk. we've seen jadzia physically fight in her serene way. maybe here it would've been worth it to see her dig her nails in and show off a little arrogance--as if to claim curzon's person for herself even when he momentarily does not reside there.

Underrated horror film and favorite sub-genre
I know @the--king--in--yellow already asked Underrated Horror film but I'll add one thst may or may not be underrated but that I feel like it deserves more love
Hellraiser III : Hell on Earth is my second favorite installment of the franchise, next to the original. I LOVED the ides that Pinhead could be split from Elliot Spencer, and that we got to see Doug Bradley without his makeup!
Tumblr media
(I thing Doug is so handsome yes there I said it 🤣)
Tumblr media
Plus, the protagonist is the beautiful and amazing Terry Farrell whom I fell in love with as Dax in Star Trek: Deep Space 9!
Tumblr media
It also has some of my all time FAVORITE Pinhead lines:
"There is no good. There is no evil, Monroe. There is only Flesh."
Monroe: Jesus Christ!
Pinhead: Not quite.
And especially: "I am the way."
Tumblr media
It's not a smooth plot, the script isn't smooth, hell, the cenobites Pinhead makes from people in this one are poorly designed.
But I love this film and I will die on this hill.🤣
Favorite type of sub genre would be several lol
I consider the Hellraiser series a psychological horror,(though I saw it categorized as occult horror and I disagree with that.)
Tumblr media
Lovecraftian horror I'm always down for(especially when Jeffrey Combs is involved, that sexy bastard.)
Tumblr media
and Comedy horror. Have you seen Cabin in the Woods? It's hilarious, man.

Thanks for the asks @gone-grl-gone

Julian Bashir, because I saw someone asked about Garak
favorite thing about them
His heart, tenacity, and unwavering impulse to tell awful people to shut the fuck up
least favorite thing about them
Early season sex pest and the whole Ezri thing also the foot fetish
favorite line
"Causing people to suffer because you hate them is terrible... but causing people to suffer because you've forgotten how to care, that's really hard to understand."
brOTP
Julian and Jadzia!!!
OTP
Garashir ❤
nOTP
Jezri and O'Bashir frfr (before any of you start no it's not because of Garak, they did my girl Ezri DIRTY (they did Dax and Terry Farrell dirty in general ) and like, I know they pushed for O'Brien and Bashir's friendship to hard turn no-homo between Bashir and Garak but like, they're just bros. Lmao.)
random headcanon
Julian likes to recite digits of pi to center himself.
unpopular opinion
I don't get the whole Sisko/Bashir train that's been happening lately? Like I just don't see it? But hey, yall seem to be having a hell of a time with it so good on you! I'm glad you're having fun ❤

i'm new, whos rick berman and what did he do?
this is a big question, but essentially he was an executive producer on/involved in most of the later trek shows. he was misogynistic in both his writing of a lot of female trek characters and his treatment of the women who played them. (Ex: commenting on their bodies, insisting they need to pad their bras, outright saying actresses are either "good actresses OR beautiful", insisting female aliens have minimal makeup so theyre still pretty, etc.)
he is a large part of why terry farrell left ds9, due to his professional and sexual harassment of her. just one example is he had another staff member on the show tell her if she weren't on ds9, she'd "be working at k-mart" in an attempt to pressure her into abandoning other projects entirely to sign on for every episode of season 7, despite her trying to negotiate for just doing fewer episodes. a lot of this stuff (not just the terry stuff) is well-documented in actor/staff interviews and novels.
he's also identified as one of the people who tried very hard to cut out or eradicate lgbt+ content in star trek, a well-known example being separating garak and bashir more in later seasons because people were reading into their relationship romantically/sexually. he also apparently refused to allow 2 male extras to hold hands in the background of a scene and insisted that a genderless alien which Riker becomes involved with be played by an actress instead of an actor because that would be "less gay".
I believe he also was the one who insisted on sisko having hair and being clean-shaven in the early seasons of ds9 because him being bald and having a beard would be "too street" :/
from a purely technical standpoint, he's also credited with being responsible for a lot of the mess that star trek: nemesis was.
there's a lot more and just going into the rick berman tag on tumblr will be illuminating. if I'm not mistaken, there's also an in-depth video essay on him on YouTube called "berman trek", although I haven't watched it.
anyone else feel free to add on more or fact check any of this.

for the ask game: ds9
thanks for asking !
the first character i ever fell in love with: kira nerys duh a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: don’t have one!  a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: hmmmmm don’t have one my ultimate favorite character™: kira prettiest character: jadzia my most hated character: kira’s mediocre boyfriends ❤️ jk but they’re the first to come to mind so...... my OTP: lenara/jadzia and sisko/kasidy and bashir/garak of course my NOTP: there are so many terrible canon ships i don’t even know where to begin with this akdhjgd favorite episode: haven’t rewatched ds9 in full recently enough to answer this totally accurately but far beyond the stars! i also love move along home and if you’re gonna judge you can fuck right off saddest death: ok this is hard............ i was too busy being mad about terry farrell’s treatment to be really sad about jadzia and ziyal comes to mind but i was more sad about the wasted narrative potential lmao i don’t have a proper answer for this favorite season: one of the later ones! i’d have to think about this least favorite season: i know everyone says season 1 sucks and yes it does but i had a great time so it hurts for me to have to give that as my answer for this character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: don’t have one my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: i love dukat as a villain but he’s such a piece of trash that to even put him under the ‘fave’ category is a bit much so take that part with a grain of salt or ten my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: kira really never did catch a break but also. ziyal :( also terry farrell  my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: don’t have one my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: i don’t have one!
send me a fandom!
