So, since there have been many star trek actors who either played a huge amount of roles or who became important directors, I was wondering:

Further thoughts on the pilot of Spenser:
Near the end of the episode, there's a sudden shift where we realize that that whatever has happened between them, ultimately Spenser and Hawk still value each other despite it as well as over whatever the mission is, and immediately after this moment, they start joking with each other again. The crime boss Hawk had been working for says something racist, and Hawk and Spenser go full comedy duo despite being in potential mortal danger:

And then Spenser beats the crap out of the crime boss, and we see the exact moment Susan goes from "who is this fucker" to "oh I like this fucker" about Hawk
Tumblr media
As they're leaving to bring the knocked-out crime boss back to Boston, Susan pries a little and points out that Hawk was clearly going to save Spenser regardless of any quid pro quo, and Hawk admits, yes, because there's not many people like him and Spenser in the world, and that he'd miss Spenser if he died.
Out of Hawk's earshot, Susan asks Spenser what he thinks of Hawk's confession:
Tumblr media
So like. Hawk/Spenser/Susan is just about my all time favorite OT3, and yet somehow I fully missed this the first time I watched the episode. They're just out there stating it outright that these two relationships are on an equal footing (and frankly that he *would* but *won't* marry either of them.) It's a really nice mirror to the end of the finale of the third (and final) season, as well??
I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS
....also can we talk about the....... white... silk... cape?? That Hawk wears to an arms deal???
Tumblr media
(also why is he doing the Sokka Water Tribe exit)

Sisko as Dr Noah in Our Man Bashir. You can tell that Avery Brooks was having fun in this role!

Yeah yeah, you couldn't swear on TV in the 60s and the 90s... But the government should of passed a law legally allowing Bones McCoy and Captain Sisko to be allowed to cuss as much as they wanted. It's only right.

I'm rewatching the pilot of Spenser for Hire because I'm thinking about doing a little write up on the series and I just
I am DYING at how hilariously divorced Spenser and Hawk are in the pilot
Like, if you're watching this without knowledge of the rest of series (or the books), the pilot makes Hawk out to be this very dangerous man with a dark and troubled past, and Spenser to have known him for, essentially, crime reasons
But if you're watching knowing the characters it's just like. Okay. Spenser and Hawk were friends and worked together for years before the series but Hawk has been away for a while and clearly something has happened between them because like...
Tumblr media
THE TERSE GREETING. THE SUNGLASSES. THE ZOOM. THE GUY WHO HIRED SPENSER LOOKING AT BOTH OF THEM LIKE 'UHHHH'
And then the first thing Hawk says to Spenser, possibly for the first time in a few years, is basically just: AND YOUR CAR SUCKS

Like, even the client knows

"Far Beyond The Stars" is the single best sci-fi episode in the history of television and no one can tell me otherwise.
