sooo apparently I got roped into playing some four hands/two piano stuff at work... what the hell
I'm kinda over piano (again) so I'm not super looking forward to this. Esp since I've kinda accepted that I'll be alone forever and that I'm happier this way (social anxiety certainly agrees with me). And also I wanted to attend to my blorbo (a/b!Anthony 🥰🥺) but now I'll have to practice a bit on Sunday probably
I haven't properly played piano for months, maybe even a year 😂 and it's just for fun so I don't really care, but the guy plays the same kind of pieces as me so I actually have to play a bit at home first. And maybe whack the nails into shape. Did you know that with piano, your nail line (the white part) sorta goes ... into your finger a bit? And lmao your shoulders get broader (more muscles I assume). This is for proper classical piano btw like rachmaninov, prokofiev etc

i keep having weird horror game nightmares
#one time i had a nightmare where i downloaded an app that put you in a randomized game during the nighttime. and you you couldn't delete it#without doing a ton of steps#and all of the games had different rules that you had to pay attention to or youd die. especially for ones with creatures in them#the last one i remembered had this thing that couldn't kill you as long as you were hidden and it didn't know and i was so terrified. i was#trying to delete the app forever but it tried to trick you into allowing the games to go on even if you deleted it. and once you did you#couldn't redownload it to get yourself out properly. i ended up being able to do it but i couldn't sleep the rest of the night because it#felt so real and i wasnt sure i had actually gotten out#and then yesterday night i had a dream i was selected by this weirdly religious like. 8 armed ball robot along with a group of other people#and it brought us to this house and it was fine for a bit but then things started happening and there ware rules. and there was another kid#there with me in this room and we had to hide under a blanket or else something would get you. and then it evolved so you also had to copy#the sound pattern it was making. but for that one there was also a different girl there was was definitely part of the house that i didn't#trust. and then there was this other thing where if you weren't tucked in this tall lady would eat you. and i was barely tucked in because#she came out of nowhere and i thought i was going to die but by some weird glitch it registered as tucked. but she leaned over me and tucke#me in properly and i was so sure she was going to kill me and she'd be all up close doing it. and i had this feeling constantly that the#robot was still around out there watching and it terrified me more than anything else#the last thing i remember from that wad waiting for the tall lady to make her rounds again but i woke up. and like again i wasnt all that#sure it didn't happen and then my mom checked up on me and it freaked me out dhfhdjsjkd#anyway i dont like dreaming#personal posts and stuff idk

shy!reader getting drunk with prices wife maybe i the club cuz its prices wife’s birthday? and then when simon arrives she’s giddy and all over him
this kind of turned into a drabble because i thought the idea was cute. however i am writing this past my bedtime so... enjoy :)
"come get your girlfriend."
those words hardly processed in Simon's mind no matter how many times he repeated them in his head. with a groan, he rubbed his eyes before he pulled his phone away from his ear to check the time. 1:07. the one time the man tried to go to bed early, of course he would get a phone call from his boss. he just didn't expect it to be about you.
"she alright?" Simon asked as he returned the phone to his ear.
"she's fine, just properly pissed at the moment. trying to get the wife home and it's like herding cats when those two are drunk," John sighed. a fit of laughter sounded on the end of his line, and even through the fuzziness and poor quality, Simon was able to pick out your giggles like it was his favorite song.
"i'll be there in ten."
Simon wasn't all too surprised to find you, John, and his wife holed up in one of the VIP rooms, and if anything he was a little relieved. the thought of you so exposed and not in your right mind around a bunch of strangers made him a little anxious, but he knew you wouldn't be caught dead in a situation like that. yet there you were, sitting in the conversation pit chatting away with your friend who wore some cheesy birthday girl sash and a dollar store crown to go with it. the way you talked and gestured was so... unlike you. it was more confident, less stiff and more fluid, like you didn't have a care in the world.
on the other hand, John looked like he was ten minutes away from falling asleep. his shirt was ruffled, and there were slight lipstick marks along the side of his chin. work of art from his wife, no doubt. Simon couldn't help but smirk at the sight of the mess that had been made, and he was just glad he wouldn't be expected to clean it up.
"hey sweetheart," he greeted as he stepped into the pit.
your eyes slowly flickered around the room until they landed on him. a glossy sort of drunkenness clouded your eyes and yet they shined just as bright when you grinned up at him.
"baby! you came to hang out with us?" you asked as you hopped off of the couch.
Simon watched you stumble toward him with arms ready to catch you, and not even a moment later you collided with his chest as you wrapped your arms around his waist. caught off guard but still pleased with your reaction, Simon chuckled as he settled his arms around you to return your drunken hug.
"i came to take you home. it's gettin' late," he explained.
"home? like to my place?' you asked.
Simon shrugged. "or you can stay the night with me, if you like."
"yes," you said, drawing out the last letter to the point you nearly sounded like a snake. "i like sleeping in your bed, it smells nice."
taken aback by your unfiltered comment, Simon couldn't help but smile and shake his head slightly. he rubbed your back in an attempt to coax you into relinquishing your grip on his torso, but you wouldn't budge.
"c'mon," he urged with a small chuckle, "let's get goin' yeah? it's late."
"but this feels nice," you retorted.
"i'll hug you all you like when we get home."
you hummed for quite some time as you swayed back and forth, forcing Simon into your movements. eventually you gave in and pulled away from him just enough to look up at him with a sleepy smile.
"okay. but you have to hold my hand when we walk out of here because i think i'll cry if i walk through that crowd," you relented.
John was right about one thing: getting you home really was like herding cats. you clung to him as if you were a parasite and you chatted away the entire ride back to his apartment, and though he was surprised it wasn't unwelcome. things got easier by the time he got you settled in bed. burrowing underneath the covers, you breathed in the musk of him and the faint hint of cigarettes as you hid your face in his chest.
"i love you," you mumbled as you settled further into him.
"i love you more," he countered.
"impossible."

Take a Breath (and kiss me) – Tara Carpenter
Tumblr media
Pairing: tara carpenter x fem!reader
Summary: Your girlfriend Tara gets a little clingy when she realizes you haven't kissed her properly in days.
Word count: 2,0k
Content: cursing, fluff, kisses, cuddles, tara being a sad pup, college routine kicking everybody's asses, core four as a family.
A/N: First time writing for Tara! Pure fluff cause I’m starting on a new job this week and needed comfort.
English is not my first language.
It's been four days straight since you last kissed Tara.
Not that she was counting, she really wasn't, but now, after an extremely long and tiring day of exams and more exams, it seemed impossible not to feel your absence next to her. The feeling of neediness and loneliness hits her hard when she realizes how long it's been since you two have been together.
Four days. Four whole days of no holding hands or playing with her hair, no hugs, no cuddles and definitely no kisses. Be it on the forehead, the cheek, the shoulders, the hands, or on the lips. Nothing. It's like the universe just decided one day 'nuh-uh, no kisses for Tara Carpenter' and boy that was unfair.
The last time you kissed her – actually kissed her – was on Monday morning, at the beginning of that hellish week, when she woke up too early with the sunlight escaping through a crack in the curtains bothering her eyes, with her whole body completely curled up on top of yours. One of the best ways to wake up, really. The same thing happened to you a short time later, because as much as Tara loves being in your arms, she also can't help but feel restless when she's awake and move a lot, but the way she lights up when you sleepy mumble a good morning to her doesn't make you able to be upset with her for that.
You gave her a slow, lazy kiss, still with that warm aura of sleep remaining.
It was the most she could enjoy of your company before you had to leave in a hurry to escape the scolding Sam would give you both for spending the night having class the next day – even though, you know, you're college students and adults – and get to your own dorm to be ready in time for your first class in the morning.
She would have braved the scolding and made you stay a little longer if she had remembered that exam season was about to start. Unfortunately, this only occurred to her when she had her first taste of it later that day.
See, that was perhaps the thing Tara hated most about her new life as a student in New York: the way the change in routine could easily overwhelm her, and how that made it even worse because you couldn't be around as much as she wanted you to.
You were a year ahead of her and your courses were different, so you didn't have any classes together and your paths barely crossed during the day, which meant the only times she got to see you were on quick runs across campus, barely having time to exclaim a 'hi baby!' before disappearing with stacks of books and notebooks in your arms.
Sure, you exchanged a lot of messages, but it wasn't the same as having a warm body next to her in bed or on the couch. You couldn't even come to the apartment after everything because she was also too tired from her own work to hangout after it.
But Friday had finally arrived and she had enough time to wallow in self-pity until everyone got home. Checking the patterned wall clock that her sister bought when they moved in, Tara realizes that it's already past five pm and the sound of the door opening is the sign that her family has started to come in. She buries her head in the pile of cushions, ignoring the throbbing pain in her temples.
“Ugh, finally,” Mindy plops down next to Tara on the other side of the couch, clasping her hands above her head to stretch, “What is this? Why is there a sad, miserable gremlin on our couch?”
She hears Chad's loud laugh coming from the kitchen but can only mutter a 'fuck you' muffled by the cushions she's sunk into, feeling a tap on her calf in response.
Tara wasn't going to put up with any mockery now, not when she was so tired and sleepy and missing you. She would do the same thing she had done the last few days: take a hot shower without giving a shit to Quinn's protests about using all the water, hug Sam when she got home from work in 45 minutes, and accept the offer of a snack when her sister ask if she had already eaten, then she would go to her room, throw herself on the bed and text you goodnight, before completely blacking out until the next day, when she could finally have you all to herself for the entire weekend – and for the rest of the week too. The worst part is over, so screw it, you guys could afford to miss some classes.
“Are you just gonna lay there and give up on existence, lil dude?” Mindy starts again, interrupting the peaceful and only partly distressing silence Tara had settled into as she builds up the strength to stand up.
“Will you shut the hell up?” She bites, grabbing one of the cushions and hitting her friend in the face, “You’re not funny and my head hurt as fuck.”
“Jesus, okay, okay!” Mindy waves her arms in defeat and stands up, “I won’t say anything else then.”
"Great."
“I’m not gonna say–” She takes on a teasing tone, “–that Anika thought that a certain someone was really upset and buried in books all that time in their dorm and that it would be better if they came straight here after class to take a break, but I’m not gonna tell you that.”
"What?" Tara’s expression immediately brightened, “You’re serious? What you–"
“Well, I told my girlfriend to bring your girlfriend, but it's okay, I'm not gonna say any of that.”
Mindy looked extremely smug but Tara chose to spare her another hit in the face for the sake of the information she just received. She lights up and jumps off the couch in a flash, rushing to shower and get ready now that she has a good reason. She hears Chad shouting from the kitchen:
“Girl, I thought you were tired!”
“Right?” Mindy laughs, “Wednesday’s at that age when a girl has only one thing on her mind, Chad.”
This makes her stop: “I don’t look like her!”
She slams the door shut when she hears their laughter increase in response.
If someone asked Tara if it was true that she sat on the side of the sofa closest to the door so she could see the exact moment you arrived, she would vehemently deny it – even though that's exactly what she did – and she would also deny that she deflated a little when the first person to arrive after the twins was Sam with a pizza box in one hand and covering a big yawn with the other.
You and Anika only arrive almost half an hour after Sam, finding Tara already watching you with doe eyes. Your haggard face immediately breaks into a smile, lines of fatigue crinkling in the corners of your eyes.
“There you are, dear,” you cross the room towards her and Tara leans in, even before you touch her, practically purring at the soft kiss you leave on her forehead, “I missed you.”
She melts when you wrap your arms around her, burying her head in your chest, but that's it. A kiss on the forehead and a hug and then you're pulling away again because you and Anika have brought more food that should be placed on the kitchen counter.
It only took this small moment of you going back and forth for everything to come back to Tara with full force. You didn't kiss her.
It's stupid, it's irrational, but her eyes fill with tears even though she can clearly see you from behind, unpacking the groceries and talking to your friends there.
Tara tried to just sit and wait for you to come back as soon as you were done, but patience was never her thing.
“Hm?” You hum when you feel a tug on your hodie's sleeve, looking back to find Tara with a tearful, frustrated expression.
“I had a really long day,” she begins, not quite sure how to ask for what she wants, eyes focused on the floor, “Will you come stay with me?”
Your heart races and your voice immediately softens: “Of course, sweetheart.”
Tara wastes no time in dragging you to her room by your wrist and you can't even react to the warning look Sam throws you over her shoulder.
She perches on your lap the second you sit down on the bed, sighing in relief as she buries her face in your shoulder.
You rest your chin on her head, “Did somethin’ happen?”
“I’m gonna quit college,” she moans in defeat against your neck.
You huff a giggle into her hair, “Same, baby.”
Tara pulls away just enough to look at you and the pure love and tenderness in your eyes is more than enough to make the tears come back.
“What? What is it?" You straighten up, worried, tightening your arms around her.
“You haven’t kissed me in four days.”
She blurts out, voice cracking and strangled and you stop.
“Four days?”
Tara nods, “Except for the one on the forehead, you haven’t really kissed me in four days and like, several hours.”
“Oh.”
“Oh?” She frowned. Shit, now she was getting mad at you, “Oh?”
You rush to take her mind off it, pressing a kiss to her lips in which she immediately melts with a soundly sigh of relief.
“I’m so sorry, baby,” you murmur between small pecks distributed on her lips, “I was so caught up in everything that I didn’t even notice.”
Tara still seemed a little upset by your response, but you kissed her again, bringing a hand to her jaw to deepen, feeling your girlfriend's arms entwined around your neck.
When you pull apart this time, you're both out of breath and Tara's face is covered in a soft red glow. You gently draw patterns with your fingers on her hips and lean in, leaving a kiss on her warm cheek.
“I’m sorry, Tar,” you echo, looking deep in her eyes “I’ve missed you so much. How can I make it up to you?”
She pretends to think for a moment, averting her eyes to hide the shiver that runs through her body.
“It's been four days,” she huffs with more annoyance than she actually feels, “I'm a girl who has abandonment issues, you know, it's your obligation to kiss me every day from now on.”
“Noted,” you smile.
“But…” She starts with a mischievous smile, “You could also make me feel better by watching The Babadook with me.”
“No, no, Tara!” You whine, “The noises of that movie freak me out!”
“Oh, I know,” your girlfriend says, blinking innocently, “But I want to do something with you, it's been so long since we watched something together alone and I love you so much.”
"I love you too." You respond instantly.
It only takes a look at those doe eyes and you lose the battle immediately and Tara looks victorious. She knows the power she has over you, the adorable little shit.
She leaves your lap just enough time to pick up the laptop on the table and returns to her place, you pull her back and lie down on the pillows, dragging her against your chest, pulling a blanket from the corner of the bed to cover you both.
“Tests are over,” you say, burying your face in her neck as the movie scene darkens, “The next few weeks are ours now. Just ours.”
Tara giggles when you startle again, sinking further against your body, smelling the hodie you were wearing, the one she got you for your birthday.
“Ours,” she says, “I like how that sounds.”
Tara tries to stay awake as long as possible, even after you fall asleep with your face buried in her neck. She's almost asleep when Sam quietly opens the door, a plate of pizza in hand and an eyebrow raised. The silent question of ‘can she stay the night please?’ is just a formality.
There's no way you're getting out of her league anytime soon.

——OKAY, WELL, A LOT COULD GO WRONG. But of course, you're trying to focus on the positives here. As long as you play your cards right and plan things out properly, nothing will go wrong.
However, that does not stop you from worrying about something going wrong.
Worries aside though, Choso is considered to be medium difficulty, right?
Wait... Are Gojo's levels of difficulty even accurate? Mr. Fushiguro was considered hard but when you really think about it, he wasn't all that hard... At least, not after you planned everything out. As far as Geto goes, well, as of right now you could call the man and tell him to come over and fuck you and he'd be there within twenty minutes.
Gojo himself is obviously the most whipped of those you've seduced so far. Though, you didn't realize just how severe it was at the time-- nor did you care to.
As for your current focus, Choso, the only difficulty in seducing him was how you wanted to go about it. Truth be told, you could probably just call the man over one night and seduce him then call it a day.
But... that's not all you want, now is it?
No, you want something more than sex with Choso. Which was expected, you knew this was going to happen. Sure, you tried to avoid catching feelings but how the hell are you supposed to feel about a man who painted you the day he saw you, drops nearly anything to make sure you're okay, and is just...
Fuck, the guy is everything and more.
You could sleep with him at any point in time. It's kinda cocky of you to think such a way but it's true, you can tell by the way Choso looks at you whenever you're around him and even the way he talks to you over the phone. He's not exactly playing coy about lusting for you.
Even so, whenever it is that you decide to sleep with the guy, you need to plan for the after-effects-- whatever that may be.
Is he going to be clingy? Are you going to be clingy? Will Choso be able to understand that you sleeping with him doesn't lead to an immediate relationship? He should be able to, right? He's a grown man...
Okay, if you're being completely honest with yourself here, it is not Choso you're worried about. It's yourself.
Hell, you're so engrossed in your thoughts of how you're going to go about this that you'd forgotten you have the man in your living room right now sitting next to you and comfortably watching a movie.
Shoko's out and you told her you were inviting someone over, sparing her the details of who, to which she told you that the apartment was all yours for the night. And while that's great and all, every time you turn to your right to steal a little glance at Choso, you get nervous for some reason.
You're excited and eager to have sex with the guy but again, the aftereffect is what concerns you. It terrifies you actually because if he wants a relationship, hypothetically speaking, you'd still have three other guys you have to sleep with.
And hell, knowing Gojo, the asshole would probably make the blackmail worse by threatening to expose your previous actions to the guy you like...
Everything is so fucked. No matter how you think about it.
Maybe you should just save Choso for last? Then, you'd be freed of the list and you'd be able to get with him, right? Then again, would that asshole Gojo even allow that? What's stopping him from blackmailing you further? What if he-
The sudden sound of your name being called makes you break away from your deep thoughts. Your head is slow to turn to your right, meeting Choso's curious eyes.
"You okay?" He asks.
You nod but it's an obvious lie.
Choso raises a brow, "You don't look okay..."
"I... I'm fine. I was just thinking about some things," You hum in response before turning to face forward again.
There's a horror movie on the TV that you'd long since forgotten about. The man beside you leans a little closer to you, "Thinking about what?"
You merely glance at him from out the corner of your eye, "Nothing important."
"Mmh... With the way you suddenly went all quiet on me fifteen minutes ago, it seems pretty important." Choso comments.
Okay, he may have a point there. The two of you were talking about the movie you were watching and at some point, your mind just drifted and you got quiet as the movie continued. Damn him for noticing though, you thought you played it off well.
And to make it worse, of course Choso moves to pause the movie. He then shifts so that his focus is completely on you; sliding a little closer to you and moving to rest an arm behind you along the back of the couch. When you turn your head to look at him, you chuckle at how all his attention is on you.
He probably doesn't realize how cute he looks right now, having gotten all close to you just to hear you talk about whatever's on your mind.
"C'mon, what's on your mind princess?" Choso asks, his voice gentle.
Your heart feels so weird in your chest at the sound of that nickname, a slight smile spreading across your face at the name alone. Your eyes meet his, despite the lack of personal space between the two of you, "I told you, nothing important."
Choso tilts his head, "Okay, tell me anyway."
"Why?" You ask, your brows pinching together.
He shrugs, "Cause' I came over to hang out with you but you're sitting here distracted..."
Another chuckle leaves you, "I was just thinking about school and uh, this project I have coming up."
"Uhuh..." He nods, "Is the project hard?"
"Yeah. Uhm, it's a group project and there's roughly... five of us in the group including me," You begin to explain. It's all a lie but you're going to make an analogy based on your current situation to see if you can get some kind of advice, "I've never worked with three of the people in my group so I'm kinda worried about that..."
Choso is all too intrigued with your words, seeming as though he's hanging off every syllable that leaves your lips. "Mhm..." He hums, awaiting your continuation.
You have to look away from him due to his intense focus, "Then there's this one person in the group. I've worked with them before and I'd like to say I'm pretty good friends with them but, the project we're going to be working on is something I know they won't agree with."
"Why?" He scoffs, "What kinda project is it?"
"A complicated one." You sigh, "I'd explain it but that's like an entirely different conversation so-"
"I mean, I'm not going anywhere." Choso hums.
Again, there's this little feeling in your heart that you try to ignore. "Yeah, I know but the project itself isn't what I'm worried about, it's the people."
He nods, "Alright, go on."
"Like I said, there's this one person in my group that I know better than anyone else in the group. I think I'm..." Your brows push together as you try to figure out how to word things correctly, "I'm worried about what'll happen after the project. I wanna be friends with this person but I feel like the project will change how they see me or something and when it's all over..." You steadily turn and look at Choso, "They'll want nothing to do with me anymore."
The man blinks. It's clear that what you've just explained is bothering you but the way you're looking at him throws him off for a second. His brain had frozen for just a second as he looked into your eyes.
There was no intimacy in the eye contact you both held with each other and yet Choso couldn't help this alluring feeling you gave off.
After a few seconds of staring, he clears his throat, "So like, do you have a crush on this person or something?"
Technically speaking, yes since the person from your analogy represents Choso but you can't tell him that or he'll think you have feelings for someone and won't want to do anything sexual with you in respect for those feelings.
"Uh, more like a friend crush?" You say meekly with a little shrug.
He nods in understanding, "Ohh, I get those sometimes."
"Yeah, I'm not romantically interested in this person," You definitely are, "But I don't want the friendship I have with them to change after the project is over."
"Right, well even though I don't know what this project of yours is, I'm pretty sure nothing will change," Choso says.
You scoff, "What makes you think that?"
"Cause' it's you we're talking about," He comments simply.
There goes that throb in your chest. "What do you mean by that?" You ask.
"I don't think anyone would want to cut ties with you over some project." Choso clarifies, "I can't speak for this person you're talking about but, I'm sure they know you're too great of a person to cut off over something so small."
You swallow and look away from the man again, "It's not something so small though. It's something that... makes people change the way they look at you, y'know, think about you differently."
"Okay? So?" Choso questions nonchalantly.
You turn to him again, "What do you mean so?"
Choso's still staring at you intently, "What version of you would someone not like?"
The way he words his question only furthers that little feeling in your chest. It's almost as though he were implying that any and all versions of you would be acceptable in his eyes.
"H-Huh?" You breathe out.
"Do you really think someone's going to cut you off just because your views or opinions are different than theirs?" Choso clarifies.
"Uh, yes." You say seriously, trying to calm yourself from those flustered emotions, "A-And it's not just views and opinions, it's actions too."
"What kinda actions?" He quires, the conversations suddenly growing more and more pressing.
"Actions that aren't always considered morally right."
He scoffs, "Like what?? What are we talking about here; Assault? Arson? Robbery? Murder? Theft? I'm confused." Choso blurts out, his voice passionate.
"N-No, none of those things but..." Your gaze wanders back and forth between his left and right eye as you try to come up with a way of wording this without literally telling him everything, "Fuck, I don't know how to explain it."
"You could just tell me what the project itself is." He suggests with a shrug.
Your brain is quick to come up with a slight relation, "It's a social project a-and the things that each of us have to do, especially me as the uh... group leader, they'd make someone see me differently."
Choso rolls his eyes slightly, still feeling confused as to what you could possibly do to make someone view you differently. In the heat of the moment, the man finds his words slipping out faster than he thinks about them, "Baby, unless you're going out here harming people in the name of research, I'm pretty sure no one is going to look at you differently-"
"What if I'm harming people's emotions?" You cut off, not even catching what he just called you.
His brows raise in concern, "Are you?"
"I might be." You scoff.
"I still don't understand." Choso sighs, "What could you possibly be doing that-"
"And wait," What he previously said suddenly clicks, "D-Did you just call me baby?"
"Uh..." Choso looks off to the side for a second as he too realizes what he said. After which he returns his eyes to you and notices the way the name made you slightly flustered, "Okay, yes, I did. But that's not the point here, love."
"S-Stop that." You stammer, turning away from him in embarrassment.
The pet names are throwing you all the way off and you can't even focus on the analogy you were trying to give him nor can you look him in the eyes when he calls you those names.
Choso bites his lower lip at your reaction, finding it cute, "Stop what, princess?"
"That." You emphasize.
"I'm not doing anything, am I?" He responds, his tone innocent.
"Yeah, you are." Your eyes are everywhere except on his, "You keep calling me those pet names and it's distracting..."
"I'm sorry baby." Choso apologizes purposefully.
Your heart skips a beat and you feel heat rush to your face. In reaction, you turn your head away from him, "Fuck, Choso stop."
"Why? Am I..." The man leans closer to you and his voice is low and near your ear, "Am I making you nervous, pretty girl?"
"That amongst other things..." You whisper.
Choso chuckles, "Look at me,"
"I can't now." You mumble. Your nerves are all over the damn place and your heart is pounding like crazy.
"Why?"
"C-Cause' of you, silly." You tell him.
"I didn't do anything," Choso says, "C'mon, we need to get back to our conversation anyways."
"I can't even focus on that now, forget it."
You hear him laugh at you, "You can't focus now?"
"No, no I can't."
"Aww, fuck, that's cute." Choso comments, his voice suddenly low.
You turn your head slightly, only so that you can look at him from the corner of your eye. When you notice he's smirking at you, you raise your hand to his face and playfully push him away.
Choso laughs again from beneath your palm and moves to grab a light hold of your wrist, forcing your hand to stay in place over his face. "You can't focus, huh?" He hums.
You finally turn and look at him, only able to see parts of his face through your fingers, "N-No. And why are you keeping my hand on your face?" You ask as you try to pull yourself away.
Choso's light hold on your wrist grows tighter and he shifts your hand around so that you can see his full face. The man then presses his lips to your palm and carefully kisses your hand, his eyes on yours as he does so.
Was that all it took for the man to have you aroused? Well, with that and all the pet names, yes.
"Did you just..." You blink, "Did you just kiss my hand?"
"Mhm," Choso hums against you before moving to plant another kiss, his eyes trailing down to what he's doing, "...s'that okay?" He mumbles into you.
"I..." You trail off as you watch him plant slow and tender kisses into your hand.
He continues for a little while, nearly losing himself in his simple act before his gaze flicks back up to you. The way your eyes are all widened and you're so clearly flustered has to be the cutest reaction he's ever gotten from you.
Choso slowly pulls away from your hand, still holding your wrist lightly, "Cat got your tongue, princess?"
Yes, actually. You forgot how to speak for a few seconds. "Uh..."
The man decides to give you a second to breathe, releasing your wrist and sliding back away from you a bit, "Sorry," Choso apologizes, "I don't even know why I did that..." He mumbles, looking away from you.
Did you just get him flustered because you were flustered? Holy hell that's the cutest thing in the world. He doesn't even know how to keep teasing you up to a certain point.
"No, it was fine," You finally manage to say.
He just barely looks at you, "Was it?"
"Mhm..." You hum.
Choso then takes his eyes away from you and turns his head slightly, allowing you a moment to see how red his ears are. He was blushing...
Then, he clears his throat, "Uh, a-about that project of yours-"
"Choso," You cut off, causing his voice to get caught in the middle of his throat.
"Hm?" He hums.
You tilt your head and shift on the couch slightly, inching toward him, "Are you... Are you blushing right now?"
The man turns his head all the way away from yours, keeping his face away from your line of vision, "Why would I be blushing...?"
You chuckle, "I dunno, you tell me."
"I'm not." He says, "C-Can we just go back to talking about your project...? I should've never started teasing you."
"Why? I like being teased by you," You blurt out.
Those simple words of yours make his cock unexpectedly twitch inside his pants. Choso clears his throat again, "Don't word it like that."
"Word it like what?" You hum innocently, "And why aren't you looking at me?"
He heaves out a sigh and carefully turns his head to you, almost in slow motion. Choso's face is hued in pink and you can see the flustered shade of red decorating his cheeks. His eyes go wide at how close you are to him, having crawled slightly across the couch to him.
Choso swallows, hard. "There, I'm looking at you. Happy now?"
"Very." You say simply, tilting your head again, "And you lied, you are blushing."
"No... It's just hot in here." He lies.
You scoff, "No it's not."
"Okay well, I'm hot."
"Take your jacket off then," You suggest.
He chuckles, "Right..."
You then watch as he moves to take his jacket off, neatly folding it afterward and pacing it down on the space beside him. After which, when he turns back to you, he sees that you're facing him completely, sitting on your heels with this sudden look in your eyes.
Choso blinks, "So uh, back to your project?"
You shake your head at him, "What if I don't wanna talk about that anymore...?"
"What uh, what do you want to talk about then?" He asks wearily, he then tears his gaze away from you, "A-And why do you keep looking at me like that?"
A light scoff leaves you, "Like what?"
"I dunno, like..." Choso glances at you one more time, "Fuck," He whispers to himself.
You weren't aware but you were giving the man bedroom eyes and since your eyes are the feature Choso loves paying attention to, it doesn't take him anything more than a glance to acknowledge what that look of yours is.
One of his hands rises to his face and he wipes it off as if that'll cleanse him of the sudden thoughts he's having.
"Like what, Choso?" You question again, "Cat got your tongue now?"
He turns his head to you, trying to look anywhere except for your eyes. That only worsens his situation though because of course looking at your lips doesn't make it any better. Gazing at your torso, which is hardly covered up with the tank top you're wearing, only leads him to stare at your tits.
Choso results in shooting his sights up to your ceiling and groans at himself, "Now I can't focus."
Your brows furrow, "Are you okay?" You ask, chuckling slightly at the man in front of you.
He shakes his head, "No."
"What's wrong?"
"You," Choso says seriously.
"Eh? Me??" You blink.
He makes this little gesture with his hand in the air toward his head as if to say he's going crazy, "I can't even have a regular conversation with you without thinking like this."
"Like what?" You ask teasingly.
The man sinks into the couch a little, resting his head back comfortably as he keeps his gaze directed upwards, "You're asking too many questions."
You giggle, "Am I?"
"Mhm."
"I mean, I'm just curious..." You say coyly, shrugging a little, "After all, you had me explain what was on my mind so, isn't it your turn now?"
"You didn't even finish explaining." Choso points out.
"And who's fault is that?"
He scoffs, "Whatever."
"C'mon Choso, tell me what's on your mind." You urge, moving to poke his arm slightly.
"Mmmmmh," He hums in thought, smiling to himself ever so slightly, "You might not like it."
"Unless you're thinking about robbing me, I think it'll be fine." You joke.
"I dunno, my thoughts are..." He trails off for a second before sighing. "Lewd."
You bat your eyelashes at him, "Lewd?"
"Mhm, very lewd."
"Well, now I'm really curious." Excitement is clear in your tone.
Choso finds how intrigued you are cute and he hopes his words will throw you off again, "Stay curious, baby."
You pause. Then you click your tongue, "That's not gonna distract me this time." You hum, almost seductively. You then move to sit closer to him, "Share those lewd thoughts of yours with me."
He shakes his head, "No."
You whine, "C'mon, don't make me beg for it."
"Maybe I want you to."
"Yeah?" You utter, your tone is completely sultry now but you don't care. "How do you want me to beg, hm?"
"Fuck," Choso whispers under his breath. He again turns his head away from you and you just barely hear him speak, "I can't take this..."
"Can't take what?"
"You." He clarifies.
You chuckle, "Can't take me? I'm not doing anything?"
"Yes, you are."
"What am I doing??"
Choso is slow to finally turn his head and look at you. His eyes are all low, lower than normal, lust swirling within his gaze. You don't miss the way he glances down at your lips, shamelessly staring at the way you're smiling at him.
"You're teasing me," Choso voices out, his tone low.
You inch a bit closer to him, "Am I?"
"Yeah, you are."
"Should I stop?"
"Depends." He hums.
Your smirk is constant, "On?"
He pauses for just a second. Whatever this back-and-forth banter the two of you have going on is, he likes it. "Where you want this conversation to go," Choso responds.
You raise a brow, "What if I don't want it to be a conversation anymore?"
"What do you want it to be then, princess?"
"Maybe actions." You tell him suggestively.
"Actions..." He repeats, "What kinda actions?"
You and Choso both pause, staring at one another. His eyes are on your lips and your eyes are on his. The tension in the air is palpable. There's so much sexual tension between you two that you're practically undressing one another through looks alone.
The way Choso licks his lips slowly as he awaits your next snarky response doesn't go unnoticed. He's got a comeback for anything and everything you say to him, ready to keep whatever the two of you are doing going until the other can't come up with something to say or until it leads to something else.
Choso leans in closer to you, his face nearing yours carefully, "Tell me, what kinda actions are you suggesting here?"
You let out a breathy laugh, "Take a guess."
"Nono, I want you to tell me." Choso says clearly, "You can do that, right?"
"You want me to explain to you what I'm suggesting...?"
"Mhm, I wanna hear you say it."
"So you know what I'm implying, you just me to admit it out loud?" You question further, clearly avoiding what he wants.
The male whispers to you, "Such a smart girl. That's exactly what I want you to do."
"Choso," You whisper in response.
"Hm?" He hums.
You stare at him again, refusing to say anything to the man until he looks into your eyes again. It's slow the way he drags his gaze upward along your face before he meets yours.
"...I want you to touch me," You finally answer, keeping your words as vague as possible.
Obviously, you want him to do more than just touch you but dragging it out like this is way more fun.
The corner of Choso's lips twitch and he smirks, "Yeah?"
"Mhm..." You hum innocently.
He raises a brow, the eye contact continuous, "Touch you how?"
"Doesn't matter."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I want you to explore me."
Choso freezes and he swears his cock is throbbing right now with how unbelievably hard it is. The man swallows, "Explore you?"
"Yes, Choso." You sigh.
He flashes you a lustful smile and finally lifts his head from the couch, moving toward you. Choso's hand goes to your chin and he gently pulls you toward himself. You're quick to follow his touch, your heart at a steady beat within your chest despite how nervous you are.
His head tips to the side and he brings his lips just barely over your own, his breath tickling you as he speaks lowly, "I'm gonna explore your mouth first, s'that okay?"
You try to stop yourself from smiling, "Yeah..."
Choso slides his thumb up from your chin to your bottom lip and pulls it down slightly, "You sure?"
"Choso if you keep teasing me like this, I'm gonna lose it-- just kiss me already." You huff out.
He just couldn't help himself, not with how needy you looked right now or with how tense you were because of his one little touch. The two of you are sharing breaths at this point and it's so slow how his thumb moves and his lips press into yours.
You're quick to push into him and move your lips over his, to which he smiles slightly at how eager you are. The feeling of one of his hands going to your waist makes your breath hitch as you kiss him and you even pull away from him slightly, to which he pushes right back in aggressively.
Your arms carefully move to wrap around his neck as Choso turns his body more. Then, after growing frustrated with the awkward position, Choso simply shifts to pull you on top of him. You don't fully sit down, too engrossed in your slow make-out session to do so.
The man then clasps your bottom lip in between his teeth and pries your mouth open, pushing his tongue in. Fuck, that action made you hum against him and you get straight chills down your spine when his tongue swipes over yours.
An abrupt feeling of a smooth metal ball is felt and you pull away slightly, "Hah, w-wait, Choso..."
He's smiling at you mischievously. "You didn't know?"
You swallow hard as you shake your head and watch the man.
Choso carefully sticks his tongue out for you, revealing a piercing you weren't expecting him to have nor did you ever notice it.
Of course. Of course Choso Kamo has a damn tongue piercing. He tilts his head and his hands latch onto your waist firmly, tugging you closer to him and causing your chest to be flush with his, "Does it bother you?" He whispers.
"What, no." You reply quickly.
He moves to kiss you again, planting one little peck against you before whispering, "Then... Actually, has anyone ever..." He trails off a bit, his face reddening all over again.
You tilt your head, "Has anyone ever, what?"
"Has anyone with a piercing ever given you head?" Choso finally gets out.
You swallow deeply, your arousal thrumming through your body as you look at the man before you. Slowly, you grin at him, "No..."
Choso takes a deep breath and you can feel a throb in between your legs as he finally asks his next question, "Can I change that?"

Tumblr media
She had quit months ago.
He actually was the one that had urged her to do so, making it a point to shame her each time he had caught even a hint of the stale scent lingering on her clothes or skin.
It was a nasty habit she had picked up during her last year of college – craving the thin white cylinder after a night out of drinking. He left her alone at first, at times taking a drag from the cigarette in between her fingers to prolong the buzz of the alcohol coursing through his body.
Unlike her, he was able to quit quite easily – cold turkey.
He had just woken up one day and decided the toxicity was too much for him and he just .... stopped.
Y/n was doing so well, opting to chew gum when she began craving her method of stress reliever; but tonight was her one moment of weakness.
After Seungcheol had left her and Mingyu's room, she attempted to distract her thoughts of doubt and panic by scrolling on her phone and when it wasn't enough, she tried sleeping.
She tossed and turned in her bed for the fifth time when she decided it was no use, kicking off her duvet and bounding to the ABC store across their hotel to purchase a pack of reds.
Mingyu had yet to return from the gym; and truth be told, she was glad.
She didn't want to face him – not while she couldn't even look at herself in the mirror.
Y/n had grown frustrated by her thoughts that seemed to attack her instead of properly creating coherent ideas – coming to a conclusion that she had been the root of all her problems.
If she had just listened to Mingyu and Minghao's warnings when Seungcheol had first swiped up on one of her stories, sending her heart eyes instead of properly complimenting her, she wouldn't be in this situation in the first place.
And if she had just listened to the one logical voice in her head when Mingyu had suggested to fake date, she would have been able to actually get over Seungcheol – as opposed to landing her in a situation in which she and her best friend kissed.
Possibly ruining their friendship.
Though, he seemed to pay no mind to it.
And maybe that's why it bothered her so much.
He was so nonchalant.
"That's a nasty habit you got there." Minghao's voice brought her back down to earth as he joined her in the darkness of the designated smoking area of the hotel – an unlit cigarette in between his lips.
Exhaling a cloud of smoke through her nose, she let out a small laugh – handing him the white lighter she had been toying with in her hand.
He was the only one Mingyu hadn't been able to persuade into quitting. Though, he did cut down significantly; smoking only a few days out of the week.
"Don't tell him." She took a long drag.
It was sarcasm.
Mingyu would be able to tell the second he stepped into the room; he had a nose of a blood hound and knew her signature scent in a crowded room. Her smell of sweet pea and vanilla will be over powered by the grey haze.
She'll worry about his reaction later.
"Why are you out here? Something happened?" He knew her well enough that she wouldn't be smoking for no reason.
The last time he had last seen her with a cigarette in between her lips was after her first day of working in the NICU – venting to him and Mingyu that pushing on to keep her parents happy with following their wishes of her being a nurse was a mistake.
She had nearly smoked a quarter of his pack that day, Mingyu having to pry the carton from her hands; convincing her to accompany them to get dinner instead.
The two spent the rest of the night telling outlandish tales of their most recent Tinder dates to distract the girl, keeping her mind off of her desire to put in her two weeks and wallow in self pity.
"Plenty." Y/n licked her lips, not knowing where to begin.
The two were never shy of sharing their deepest thoughts with one another. They had spent many nights dissecting their minds in her best friend's apartment. She always did cherish how brutally honest he was, not caring to sugarcoat any of his opinions and advices – and she did the same.
"Seungcheol told me he chose me." The nicotine that once gave her a dull buzz felt like a full vibration the second she uttered his name, almost as if it was a forbidden word.
Minghao simply nodded, his bottom lip jutting out.
She kept her eyes trained on the stick that had burned halfway, nestled between her pointer and middle finger.
"But Mingyu and I kissed." Y/n said in almost a whisper; recalling to the warmth of his delicate touch on her cheek and how perfectly their lips fit together. "Made out, actually."
He remained unfazed, nodding once again. "You're confused."
He read her like an open book. He was always good at reading people; some sort of witchcraft probably.
"The reason why I agreed to this shit in the first place was because of Seungcheol. I wanted to be his– but when he told me– when he said he chose me." She put the cigarette back up to her lips. "All I could think about was Mingyu."
She thought she would have been happy to hear him say those words.
"It's you. I chose you."
The person who she was a few months ago would have leapt in Seungcheol's arms without a second thought; happy that she was finally his.
But the change happened so slowly that not even she felt it. The air had shifted without even noticing it; she had slipped from him... and straight into Mingyu's arms.
Y/n had allowed Seungcheol to spill his guts right in front of her, frozen in her spot – unable to muster a single word except an "okay". He had ambushed her the same way she had done during that god forsaken night at his apartment.
She knew he expected more, leaving her room with his shoulders low. Y/n had also expected more from herself; but she wasn't able to complete a single sentence.
The only thing running in her mind was the kiss she had shared with her best friend hours ago. The one that had provided her a new sense of calm, almost as if her world had stopped the second his lips touched hers.
"Are you saying you have feelings for him?"
Mingyu.
"I don't know."
"What do you know?" He pried.
Minghao was always good at asking questions to allow her to properly sort through the mess in her head – simplifying her thoughts.
"I know that this has been the happiest I've been in a while." Y/n began.
Maybe it was the island, hypnotizing them with the warm sun and the surge of dopamine that their false reality that it had provided them during their trip. Or maybe it was the fact that Seungcheol hadn't rattled her brain in a while, Mingyu giving her the distraction she needed.
"I know that I agreed to pretend to date Mingyu for Seungcheol." She went on. "But I also know that it no longer feels like it's for Seungcheol."
In the beginning, their actions were calculated – each one of their instagram posts and fake dates were all for a targeted audience. The two didn't dare cross any lines, keeping a close eye on the end game they both wished to achieve.
The past few days, it seemed as though the line had become quite blurry; especially for her. At first, she thought it was simply because she was finally getting used to the forced close proximity she and Mingyu put themselves in.
She didn't dare bat an eye to all the small moments where he seemed to dote on her, meeting all the needs she didn't think needed to be met. Because it was all things he had done before.
Except now, she was starting to look a little too hard into all his actions.
And it was all because of that fucking kiss.
All those times he answered all her silent questions, making sure there was always a smile on her face, the small gestures, his attention to the minor details of her daily life... They now had her double guessing. All because the man she could have sworn she wanted all this time, had never once dared to do any of it all.
If Mingyu had attempted to kiss her before, at the beginning of their arrangement, she would have pushed him off. She would have given him an earful for even trying to lean in.
A second into his lips locking with hers, she found herself melting into his touch – almost as if her body had been waiting for that moment.
She could have sworn he wanted it as well, being the one to initiate it. He was the one that deepened the kiss, gently pulling her face closer to his – as if she could get any closer than she already was.
Y/n couldn't help but feel a bit conflicted when Mingyu had chosen to dismiss it as if it was just another normal occurence between them; her insecurities slightly feeding into the thought of her just being as one of the girls on his roster.
The feelings she once had for him during their high school days slowly began to bubble back up, remembering all the times she caught herself staring at him in class – wishing he could open his eyes and fall for the girl he called his best friend.
It was a small crush.
And who knows, maybe this could just be her younger self finally fulfilling her life long dream of being with the boy that had helped her with her algebra homework – consoling her as she cried at his dinner table when she couldn't understand why the alphabet was needed to be added into a math problem.
She was .... very confused.
This was all supposed to be about Seungcheol, and now she was wishing he had never come into their room in attempts to make peace.
"Why don't you sleep on it?" Minghao suggested.
"I tried. That's why I'm out here smoking this damn thing." Y/n scoffed at her actions.
She always did hate how easily she reverted back to her unhealthy habits, especially when she had finally made progress.
Minghao opened his mouth before shutting it back again, hesitating if he should even tell her the conversation he had overheard earlier in the day. He had always gossiped with her in Mingyu.
But this wasn't something simple as finding out that his coworker was cheating on his wife with someone else in their department, or the fact the Hansol took Mingyu's little sister out on a date last month.
No, this could drastically change the group's dynamic. It was all so messy.
More importantly, he was always a firm believer of allowing his friends the freedom of making their choice – not wanting to meddle in the possibility of ruining their chances of them learning their lessons.
He was sadistic like that.
Warning Mingyu about how messy fake dating didn't count – he was an idiot and he wanted to save himself from hearing more about how in love he was with y/n all while she was too blind to see it all.
"If I tell you something about Sunhee and Cheol, will it make the organization of your thoughts easier?"
The thing was, Minghao was holding on to a key information that he was itching to spill out. And he was, eventually.... He just didn't think Seungcheol was stupid enough to approach y/n the same day.
He under estimated how his friend's brain operated.
He wasn't supposed to overhear the conversation between the two, but it wasn't his fault they had chosen to have an argument in public – all while he on the other side of the bushes taking pictures of the scenery before him.
Y/n nodded for him to continue. "Shoot."
"Look, they fought earlier." His voice low, as if there could be any one else that could over hear them in the empty smoking area. "He wanted her. He told her it's her he wanted and she blew him off."
She let out a laugh in disbelief, shaking her head.
Of course. Of fucking course.
Y/n wasn't the first choice.
She was still and will always come before Sunhee. He had chosen her because the girl he wanted had given him the hard no.
She thought she would be heartbroken, but instead a new emotion had overtaken her – something that she hadn't once felt towards him.
All of a sudden, y/n began to see red.
Seungcheol had only wanted to make peace because he had nothing else left, and he thought she was stupid enough to fall right back into his trap.
Why did she ever think he'd ever see her as anything else but a seat filler? It was as if Minghao casted a spotlight an all of Seungcheol's actions – shedding light on all those moments she had chosen to turn a blind eye to.
The relationship she had always wished for, the small sweet moments she and Seungcheol shared were nothing but supercuts – a collection of good memories that seemed to have over powered all the others that had left her broken.
All the times he had left her hanging, forgetting the promised dates, leaving her messages on read, and endless nights of nothing but tears came flooding back – and instead of sadness and pain, she felt anger.
How had she let it get this far?
"I know that you're hanging on to the possibility of him changing– and who knows, maybe one day he will. But it's definitely not now." Minghao shook his head.
"You know he told me he wanted to do it right. He said he wanted to earn my trust." She let out a laugh. "God, he's so– He's–"
"An idiot? Dumbass? Asshole?"
"All of the above." She walked over to the metal bowl, putting her cigarette out – digging it into the accumulated ash.
"Sleep on it, yeah?" Minghao called out as she continued her journey to the entrance of the lobby.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
The sound of the curtains opening, the warm rays of the morning sun hitting her face caused her to stir in her sleep, slowly blinking her eyes open – a blurry Mingyu digging in suitcase was the first thing she was greeted by.
She had been asleep when he had arrived back from the gym – not bothering to wake her to notify her that he had brought back the chips she had requested. Opting to place it by the night stand that had divided their beds.
"Morning." She croaked, sinking deeper into the mattress.
Turning his head, he nodded at her before going back to searching for a shirt and swim trunks.
It was their last day before the wedding festivities began and he had under estimated the amount of garments he needed to pack for the trip – despite her warnings of packing extra outfits "just in case".
"You smell." He mumbled.
Mingyu had caught a hint of the stale odor when he had entered the room last night – a scent that had grown accustomed to as it lingered in his apartment balcony due to his roommate's need to fill his lungs with the grey smoke every once and while.
"I– uh, yeah." She didn't bother coming up with an excuse, nor did she have the energy to fight it.
Just as Minghao suggested, Y/n decided to sleep in it. There was no need to make a decision anyways, it wasn't like Mingyu felt the same way – and it wasn't like she had given Seungcheol the final answer.
The only conclusion she had reached was that she was tired. She no longer wanted to be in the middle of a mess due to relationships. More importantly, not the ones that had left her second guessing.
She and Mingyu agreed that their little game of charades would end by the end of the trip, and she would leave it at that. She'll worry about whatever feelings he had unearthed when they got back to the mainland; when the blanket of false reality that covered their friendship has been lifted.
And with the Minghao spilling the truth about Seungcheol's sudden decision to make his pick between her and Sunhee, she knew that she could no longer tolerate him and his little games. Not anymore.
Not when she no longer feels the same way she did months ago.
"Everything okay?" He kept his back turned, almost as if he was afraid to meet her eyes.
"Yeah, just– my brain is a little loud again." Her eyes was trained on his back.
He nodded, setting his choice of outfit for the day down atop of the rest of his folded garments before turning to face her. "Want to let me in?"
Chewing on the skin inside her cheek, y/n sat up in her bed; crossing her legs. He took this as an invitation to take seat where her legs had once taken space.
"If it's about–"
"Seungcheol talked to–" The two began simultaneously, pausing when they both heard one another speak over each other's voice
"You go first." He motioned for her to continue.
Truth be told, he wanted to be left in the dark. Mingyu didn't want to know what had gone down in their room when Seungcheol paid a visit.
Not when he already knows what she was about to say.
He had unfortunately run into Seungcheol in the hallway the night before, his friend giving him the heads up that he had finally made a choice.
Not only that, but he had requested for his assistance.
To allow him to make a move on y/n, to be exact.
Mingyu felt sick to his stomach the remainder of the night, unable to properly work out with Joshua and Soonyoung at the hotel's gym due to Seungcheol's voice ringing in his ears.
"I get it. I'm not your top pick for her, but– I need you to help me."
Mingyu was well aware they had agreed to end their arrangement by the end of the trip, he was completely fine with it. Up until Seungcheol had made him realize that this reality was fast approaching.
Not only that but the fact that he would lose all chances with her completely. As if he even had any chance, judging by her reaction from their sweet moment atop the jeep yesterday – chances were slim to none.
Seungcheol was the reason as to why they were pretending, after all. He made his decision and it was the one she had been waiting for.
All her hopes and dreams of having a relationship with Seungcheol was finally going to come true.
"Seungcheol told me he picked me." Y/n swallowed.
He didn't dare blink or react to the words that had left her lips.
And she couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed by his lack of emotions.
"That's good, right?"
God, someone just shoot him right now.
She shrugged. "Want to hear the kicker?"
He nodded for her to go on.
"Minghao overheard him telling Sunhee that he wanted to be with her just hours before he came and talked to me."
There was the expression she was looking for.
All the theories, the conclusions that he jumped to, were proven wrong.
His brows furrowed, the corner of his lips curling. He was angry.
"You're joking."
Y/n shook her head, letting out a small laugh. It was a pity laugh.
"You know what, fuck him." Mingyu rolled his eyes. "Had the fucking nerve to ask me to allow him to–"
"What?"
"What?" Mingyu replied quickly, realizing he had let his emotions overtake him – spilling his interaction with Seungcheol just minutes for he had entered their room.
"What did he ask you?"
Sighing, knowing that there was no way she was going to let it go. "I ran into him on the way to the gym. He told me all about his plans– God– I believed him. He seemed so sincere. He– "
Groaning to herself, Y/n leaned back against the headboard. "Stink, I'm so tired."
He looked at the girl, his eyes softening at the sight of her in pure defeat. His heart ached to see the girl he had been pining for, raising the white flag after the constant emotional beating she had received from Seungcheol.
Especially when he knows he could treat her far better.
"Come on," He reached to pull her up by her arm. "Just a two more days and you wont ever have to see him. I'll– I'll make sure he doesn't come anywhere near you."
"Thank you."
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
She scoffed at his acts. Watching as he laid his towel down in between Joshua and Jeonghan, actively avoiding Sunhee.
Seungcheol made it a point to make eye contact with her whilst he did this, almost as if it was his way to tell her that he was staying true to his words from the night before.
Y/n continued to apply the tanning lotion on her bare skin as the rest of the group happily helped themselves to the spam musubi Seungcheol had so generously bought just before they had all met at the beach – mumbling "It's warm this time." only for her to hear when he had set it down.
She couldn't believe it, but his efforts made her feel sick.
"Want some?" Mingyu asked, offering her a bite of the rice wrap.
Y/n shook her head. "Kinda craving an acai bowl, if I'm being honest."
Mingyu knew she had declined because it was purchased by Seungcheol and not because of the reason she had just said. He didn't dare press on the open wound, allowing for her to sit in silence as they listened to Seungkwan babble on about the prank Soonyoung and Chan had pulled on him earlier this morning.
The two boys had managed to get a copy of Seungkwan's room key from the front desk, ambushing him at the crack of dawn – putting on an act as if he had over slept and had missed the wedding. He had been so exhausted from the past few days, half asleep as he allowed for the false sense of panic from his two friends to trick him into getting dressed in his suit.
The group had doubled in laughter as Soonyoung jumped in, claiming that Seungkwan was nearly finished with buttoning his white long sleeve when he had realized it was all a joke.
"I never thought I would hear 'asshole, fuckers, sons of bitches, loser low lives' all in one sentence." Chan laughed, hitting the sand.
Joshua clutched his stomach, wiping the moisture from his eyes. "Oh my god, ow."
"Idiot." Mingyu laughed, shaking his head.
"I miss having us all together." Jeonghan hummed as the laughter subsided, leaning back on his elbows. "We should have more destination weddings."
"Not everyone is bleeding money like you, Han." Joshua snickered.
"Seungcheol is." He countered. "Doubt he'll marry soon, though."
"Pretty sure our only hope is Mr. Finance Bro and Ms. Nurse over here." Seokmin gestured over to Mingyu and Y/n – with their joint income, there was no second guessing they'd be able to ensure an all expense paid trip for the whole group.
"Yeah, if she doesn't break up with me." Mingyu snorted.
He was planting seeds in their heads for their inevitable end.
Y/n bit back the frown that threatened to form in her lips, not wanting any of it all to stop.
Stupid fucking kiss.
"Thin ice buddy." She joked, playfully shoving him.
They were playing a role, after all.
"Please, as if you two could find a better match for each other." Jeonghan rolled his eyes. "We've all been placing bets since junior year."
That caught the two's attention, Mingyu choking on a single grain of rice; nearly turning red from coughing.
Unbeknownst to the two, their friend group had been conspiring behind their backs – exchanging knowing glances with one another whenever the two bickered.
They claimed that they bickered like an old married couple, and it would only be a matter of time before they decide to resolve their small argument with a kiss.
Y/n disguised her shock with laughter, reaching over to pat Mingyu's back in attempts to soothe him. She didn't know how much more new revelations her poor brain can take.
This was not helping her thoughts, whatsoever.
"Don't act too surprised." Jeonghan laughed. "Speaking of, if I remember clearly, Seungkwan and Hansol you guys owe me $200 each. I take Zelle or Apple Pay."
"Doesn't your bank account have enough zeroes?" Seungkwan sassed.
"A bet is a bet."
"That we made years ago!" He cried.
Thankfully, the boys had decided to drop the subject – going on about the remaining few hours of their day lounging about on the sand.
Y/n had pulled her sunglasses over her eyes, shielding her from the sun and Seungcheol's lingering stares. It was almost as if he was waiting for any chance to speak to her, at times joining in on any conversation that had involved her or Mingyu.
It was stark difference to how he had previously been acting towards them in the past few days, joking around with no trace of his snarky tone or snide comments.
Mingyu chose to go along with change of attitude in his so-called friend, keeping his act going strong – as if Y/n hadn't told him about his sneaky plans of getting her back.
Don't get him wrong, it angered him. If he had it his way, Mingyu would have confronted Seungcheol in a heartbeat.
Maybe even landing a punch.
But he also knew it wasn't the right time or place, not when it has been years since the whole group was complete.
The girl laying next to him on the other hand had made her emotions quite obvious to Seungcheol; purposely avoiding his eyes when it was his turn to speak and choosing to pretend to not hear any of his attempts to spring up a conversation.
"Play nice." Mingyu mumbled only for her to hear as he leaned back on his elbows, going down to her level.
"I don't know what you're talking about." She smiled sweetly. Her way of feigning innocence to her recent actions.
Chuckling, Mingyu couldn't help but playfully pinching the tip of her nose; scrunching at his touch. "Watch out, they might catch you being a raging bitch."
"I still don't know what you're talking about." She hummed.
Mingyu had to fight yet another urge to lean down and plant a kiss on her lips, finding her a little too cute with as she continued with her oscar winning act.
Biting his lip, he sat back up on his towel – their distance had become quite dangerous for his liking and he didn't want another repeat of yesterday. "Gonna go play with the guys, wanna come?"
Glancing at the half empty row of towels, Y/n let out a sigh. She wasn't in the mood to be tossed by the waves that were currently crashing on to the shore – but it was far better than being left behind with Jihoon, who she barely knew, Joshua, and Seungcheol.
"Fuck it." She sat up, taking Mingyu's hand that had stretched out in front of her – helping her up off of the ground.
He didn't let go.
And she was more than happy with allowing his fingers interlock with hers as they made their way to the water.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
She had gone ahead of Mingyu, leaving him behind the small dining hall Jeonghan and Eunji had held their rehearsal dinner at – her social battery blinking at 0%.
Y/n felt the shapewear she had worn under her dress dig into her stomach, the strap of her heels cutting into her toes – she needed to change out of into a much more comfortable attire.
It wasn't like there was much else for her to do down there anyways; most of the family and friends that had been invited to the small gathering have retreated back to their rooms not too long before she had excused herself.
She knew if she stayed any longer, she'd just get talked into drinking more mixed drinks with the few that had stayed behind – and she wasn't really in the mood to have a hangover during the wedding.
Y/n could see her hotel room door, when she heard footsteps fast approaching behind her.
It was almost like a trauma response, she immediately knew that pace of walk – speed walk to be exact.
Seungcheol.
God, when will it end?
Turning to greet him, she was caught by surprise to see that he had closed their distance quite significantly – standing only a foot away from her.
"Did I do something wrong?" He asked, breathlessly.
He wasted no time slipping out of the hall when he had noticed she had bid her goodnight – following her up to their floor.
"What are you talking about?" Y/n deadpanned, pretending to not understand his sudden question.
"I–you've been avoiding me all day." Though she wasn't being too discreet with her actions, she didn't exactly think he would be able to catch on to it.
He never did paid attention to her before, anyways.
Apart from her active decision to give him the cold shoulder earlier at the beach, Y/n had successfully done the same during the rehearsal dinner.
She had kept her eyes on everywhere else but him, even going as far as leaving the glass of wine he had so kindly retrieved for her at the bar – claiming the one glass she had finished was enough.
Only for her to take sips of Mingyu's whisky the remainder of the night. He didn't care to protest, offering her the glass after he would take a swig himself.
"I thought we were on the same page." Seungcheol went on. "I– I said I chose you, and I'd prove it. I– you said okay."
Y/n didn't dare fight the urge to roll her eyes, his face flashing a look of confusion at her sudden hostility. "Do you think I'm that stupid?"
"Wha– what's going on?" He looked around, as if it was some hidden camera prank – waiting for a crew to jump out and surprise him.
"Minghao overheard you two at the ranch. He told me everything."
Silence.
He was dumbfounded and she was not even a bit shocked that he seemed to have lost his ability to speak.
She knew that he didn't think she would ever find out about what had happened between him and Sunhee – and judging by his reaction, he was never planning on telling her.
"You didn't choose me." Y/n scoffed. "Sunhee rejected you."
"What difference does that make?"
Y/n felt the blood under her skin begin to grow hot.
He was so fucking dense.
"You don't get it, do you?" She took a step towards him; Seungcheol nervously swallowing as she closed in on him. "You didn't choose me because you wanted me. You wanted a seat filler, a replacement. I'm not going to be your backup plan because your original one failed. I'm not going to be that girl anymore."
Anymore.
"Wha– oh my god... you fell for him, didn't you?" The light bulb in his head had turned on. "You're blowing me off because of him. You know he's not going to treat you any better–"
"Than what? You?" Y/n interjected, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I mean, you said it." Seungcheol shrugged, that stupid cocky smirk playing on his lips – that same one that had been painted on his face during their first few days on the island.
She began to feel the beat of her heart thump against her chest, the anger consuming her. He knew how to get under her skin, and he knew how to do it well.
He had been caught red handed and she knew he wasn't going down with a fight.
And neither was she.
"Being with him made me realize that the time I had spent with you was nothing but a waste of my time."
"You know it's not real right? When we get back home, he'll go back to his old ways."
His old ways.
Back to the line of girls that had waited for a chance with him.
The smirk on his lips grew larger as he watched his words get into her head, knowing that he had struck a nerve. "He's just like me, Y/n. You may not choose me, but running to him won't serve you any better."
"Fuck you." Y/n gritted her teeth, clenching her fists at her side as she fought back the tears of frustration that threatened to fall from her eyes.
She hated that any hint of anger made her cry.
And God, was she fuming.
"You have, multiple times." He raised his brows. "Remember?"
That was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Her hand was far quicker than her brain. It wasn't until her palm collided with his cheek that she had fully processed what she had done.
It was long over due and it felt good.
"Whoa, what's going on here?" Mingyu's voice called from the end of the hall – quickly running over to where the two stood. He had slowly made his way out of the elevator when he heard the loud smack echo through the walls – sobering him in an instant.
Mingyu had wedged himself between the two, using one arm to move y/n's body behind his. He wasn't too sure what had taken place, or what had prompted the loud sound – but he knew it wasn't anything good.
Nothing Seungcheol was involved with has ever equated to the word "good".
"I think it's time for you to go to your room, Cheol." His voice firm, towering over the man in front of him.
Seungcheol didn't need to be told twice, scoffing as he turned his heel towards the other side of the corridor.
"Are you okay?" Mingyu's eyes wide as he faced her, placing both hands on either side of her shoulders as he scanned her. "Did he hurt you?"
Y/n shook her head as the pads of his thumb wiped away the remaining tears on her face. "I slapped him."
"Oh." Mingyu paused.
"He– I can't believe I defended him for so long." She sniffled.
A wave of embarrassment crashed into her as she recalled all the times she had made excuses for all his actions like her life depended on it. She could have sworn the man she had initially fell for was not the same one she had just faced, unable to fully wrap her mind around what had just taken place.
"Everyone makes mistakes." Mingyu used the sleeve of his button down to wipe her nose, earning a laugh from the girl.
"I don't have snot, you idiot." Y/n lightly smacked his arm away.
"I know." He laughed. "Just wanted to make you smile."
Seungcheol was wrong. Though they had shared some similarities, Mingyu was nowhere near like him.
Especially not when it came to her.
Mingyu had and will always treat her delicately. He would never dare say or do anything to hurt her.
Like he said a few days back, he'd do anything for her happiness.
Getting over him may just be far more painful that getting over Seungcheol.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
To say the setting was beautiful was an understatement; the grassy lawn of the hotel had been transformed to any bride's dream.
Various kinds of white flowers lined the rows and the altar, creating a sight that only a girl could have imagined and pinned on her pinterest board.
Y/n's breath had been taken away when she had first taken a seat, snapping a few pictures before they were instructed to put all their devices away for an unplug ceremony.
She couldn't help but be in awe as the each second passed, shedding a few tears when she had caught a glimpse of Jeonghan's lips quivering at the sight of Eunji making her way down the aisle.
"Jeonghan," Eunji spoke into the mic, taking her turn to profess her vows in front of their guests; a wide grin on her face. "People often talk about how difficult relationships are and I happily can say that I can't relate to them. I get that relationships takes a lot of work, but being with you have never felt like this. It's like I clocked into a shift with my favorite coworker. Our days have always been filled with laughter, the only tears you've ever brought me were when you would make those stupid silly jokes that I love so much. They say love is hard but our love has been the easiest part of my life. And I guess, it's because you have made it so easy. You're not only my life partner but my best friend and I can't wait to start this new chapter of our life together. Today, as I stand here in front of our families and friends, I Park Eunji take you Yoon Jeonghan as my lawfully wedded husband."
While everyone clapped, some wiping away their tears, Y/n couldn't help but let here eyes stray to the line of groomsmen that stood behind Jeonghan — her eyes meeting Mingyu's who has had his eyes trained on her even before Eunji began her vows.
Everything Eunji had described about Jeonghan was what y/n had come to realize about Mingyu two days ago. That easy love, those days filled with laughter, the silly jokes – they were all connecting back to Mingyu.
Y/n had always thought that when someone was in love, they felt butterflies in their stomach – creating a restless buzz each time they were near the person they were destined to be with.
She had mistaken the lack of butterflies whenever she was around Mingyu as her not actually having any feelings for him – but simply being caught up in their act of faux lovers.
This whole time, it was because he brought a new sense of calm upon her. She had been in a constant state of fight or flight for such a long time that she failed to realize that he was the only one that could pull her out of it all the chaos that surrounded her.
He was the calm after the storm – hurricane to be exact.
Sending her a wink from where he stood, Mingyu couldn't help but crack a smile as she returned it.
・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.・゜゜・.
They were both returning from the bar, each with a drink in hand, when the sound of familiar chorus of voices blared through the speakers.
It was as if they the same thought had ran across their mind at the same time, exchanging knowing glances before letting out a soft laugh.
Baby I'm yours. And I'll be yours until the stars fall from the sky.
It was their song.
They were both well aware it was a love song, but they didn't care. It had held some weird attachment to the two, being the first song she had recommended to him when they were teenagers.
It was her poor attempts of hinting her feelings towards the boy at the time, but his undeveloped frontal lobe never put two and two together – finding the melody of the song beautiful.
She had played it countless of times around him that when he had later heard the song without her, his mind went straight to all the times she would softly hum along to the tune.
She had pavloved him.
This song would follow them throughout the years, having it's fair share of being blasted in their cars or apartments – obnoxiously dancing and singing along to the old time tune cover.
They were at their assigned table within seconds, setting their drinks down. Before she could even take a seat, Mingyu had stepped in front of her – holding his hand out.
"May I have this dance?" A playful grin on his lips.
He wasn't going to waste this perfect opportunity. It was their last night together as a couple.
Their last dance.
He was never going to have this same chance again, and he was going to make the most of it.
One last time.
"You may." Y/n laughed, taking his hand – allowing him to lead her to the center of the room, joining other paired up bodies.
"Oh gross!" Minghao pretended to gag as he took their unattended drinks – claiming it as his own.
"Yours until the poets ran out of rhyme..." Mingyu sang, spinning her.
A giggle emitted from her lips as he caught her, dipping her before they swayed like two idiots.
"I didn't get to thank you for last night." Y/n relaxed her arms around his neck.
After they had gone back to their room, he allowed her to join him in his bed – patting her back as she cried into one of his pillow. He listened until she had fallen asleep in the middle of her endless rant — rambling on and on about how stupid she was to allow Seungcheol to continuously break her heart.
Mingyu didn't dare wake her, knowing that the her emotions had taken a toll on her. Instead, he allowed Y/n to stay – making sure not to cross the metaphorical boundary he had drawn in his head as she lightly snored on the left side of the bed.
By the time she woke, he had already left the room – having joined the rest of the groomsmen for their scheduled breakfast and pre-wedding game of golf.
Not without a text notifying her of this, of course.
Not that he needed to tell her, it was out of pure courtesy.
"S'fine. I just hope the next guy you date doesn't give you a hard time." Mingyu shrugged.
He had hoped the next and final guy was him.
"Are you getting tired of wiping my tears?" She countered, playfully.
"Tired of seeing you cry over men." He corrected.
"Me too." Y/n sighed. "I think I won't date any guy until I find the same kind of love Eunji described. You know, the easy kind. The one that makes all the shitty days not seem all that bad."
She maintained her eye contact with him as she spoke — and if he had been able to read her thoughts before, he would be able to tell that she was describing him.
"It wasn't a mistake." Mingyu hoped he had guessed her unspoken words correctly. "I meant it."
He was talking about the kiss.
Y/n felt her breath hitch in her throat — coming out as a hiccup.
She had initially felt unsure about her feelings towards him — afraid that it was nothing but her mind playing tricks on her.
But she also knew him better than she knew herself. The second she had caught his stare after Eunji's vows, she had never felt more sure in her life.
He had felt the same way.
It was only a matter of how either one of them was going to bring it up.
"How long?" Y/n knew that he wasn't one to act impulsively around her — she hated surprises.
Even the good ones.
She knew that if he truly meant to kiss her, it was something that he had been thinking of for quite some time now.
"Been waiting for months now."
"Months?"
"Maybe even years." Mingyu replied with a shrug.
"Years?"
This was it. He was going to finally allow himself to tell her the same words he had recited over and over again in front of the mirror.
As the final chorus of the song began, Mingyu allowed for the singers voices to drown out all the other noises around them — his eyes blurring everything but her.
"It's always been you." Mingyu's voice was soft, his hand reaching up to tuck a loose strand behind her ear. "To me, there was never first, second, third, or fourth choice. It's you."
He looked at her in pure adoration, his brows turned down and eyes filled with stars — a look she had never seen before.
"It was you when you spent nearly every day waiting for me to finish basketball practice in high school. It was you when you stayed up all night to help me study for my econ final at the library our sophomore year in college. It was you when you rescued from a shitty dinner at my parents five months ago. It's you now and it's going to be you tomorrow, and the next day, and all the days after that."
All while she was hoping to be the first pick in Seuncheol's life, she had been the first and only in Mingyu's.
He didn't dare keep a spare — he knew no one could measure up to Y/n.
As the song wrapped up, he stepped away from her — giving her one last spin before pulling her back in. "I hope it's me too." He whispered.
Taking his hand, she guided him away from the chaos of the party and out into the stillness of patio, with the only thing to be heard was the muffled music behind the closed doors and the distant sound of the waves crashing on to the shore.
"You know, you never gave me butterflies." Y/n began.
"Did you bring me out here to rej—"
Y/n held her hand up, stopping him mid sentence. "I guess I was so used to the emotional rollercoaster that all my exes have put me through that I began mistaking that gut feeling, you know— the one that warns you that something was a bad idea— as butterflies. Whenever I'm around you, I don't feel anything in my stomach because I feel safe."
Mingyu's confusion had once again turned into adoration, practically melting into her hand as he clung onto her words.
"That easy love Eunji spoke of, the one I said I wanted. It's you." Y/n continued. "You're the easiest part of my day— hell, you're the easiest part of my life. Whenever I'm with you, I have no worries, no doubts. It took me a while but, it's yo—"
Mingyu couldn't wait any longer, he was practically bouncing on his toes before he closed the gap between them — swooping down to capture her lips with his.
"Wait—" She pulled away with a giggle. "I have more to sa—"
Mingyu shook his head, dipping back down to meet her lips. "Save it for your vows." He mumbled.
Vows.
Pulling away once again, y/n gave him a look — all while he pouted.
How many times was she going to do this?
"Wha— don't tell me you said all that with no plans on marrying me."
"Are you saying you want to marry me?" She emphasized.
Mingyu used his thumb to gesture over to where the reception was currently being held, his head tilting. "Did you not just hear what I told you on the dance floor?"
"Yeah but—"
"Exactly, so can I please kiss you now?"
"Yeah okay—Ah slow down." She held up a finger, wagging it at him. "I swear to God, Kim Mingyu if you break my he—"
"Shut up, stink." Kissing her for the third time in under five minutes — smiling as he felt her relax under his touch.
All those heartbreaks, the tears he wiped – they were finally ending.
War has ended.
Y/n was finally in the arms of the man that never dared to put a frown on her face, getting the love that she deserved.

"Morning," A bright grin spread across Evan's lips when his eyes locked on Hen walking sluggishly towards the ambulance.
He relished in the frown that took over her face and the way she tilted her chin down and rose her brows when she looked his way. Her eyes gave away everything. She was feeling rough after their night out last night. Her eyes were barely open and she was walking like she was dragging her feet while her shoulders were hunched forward.
She would rather be anywhere but on shift. She wanted to be back in bed.
A grimace pulled at Hen's lips when she looked Evan up and down. He was dressed properly, no slacks, he didn't have his trousers on backwards or his shirt inside out. He didn't look like he had crawled through the front door at two in the morning and then had to head back out the door six hours later.
"Why aren't you hungover?" Hen tucked her clipboard under her arm and tightened her grip on her mug of coffee. Even the smell of coffee hadn't done anything to liven her up yet, she felt half dead.
Her and Evan had gone out drinking last night while (Y/n) stayed home with Chris and Eddie was on the night shift into the day shift today. It had been good for the two of them to catch up and have a laugh, but Hen was regretting choosing the night before a shift to have their night out. Next time, she wasn't making that mistake again.
"Because I can hold my liquor," He quipped back, holding his chin up high while he tightened his arm around (Y/n)'s shoulders and tugged her back into his side. He pressed his lips to the back of her head when (Y/n) reached her hand up to hold his hand that was on her shoulder.
"Hm." Hen scrunched her nose and continued walking towards the ambulance while (Y/n) and Evan walked down towards the back of the station.
"I'm gonna find Eddie and hit the gym."
Evan knew he would be fine today. He would do a quick work out before they had their first call of the day. Then by the time he and (Y/n) headed back home tonight, he would be tired enough to sleep through the night. Evan had a lot of trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. It was why he functioned so well on night shifts and when they pulled a double shift. He had too much energy and needed to have a burn-out in order to catch a full nights rest.
He squeezed (Y/n)'s shoulder and kissed her temple again before he let her slide out from under his arm and move towards the stairs.
(Y/n) climbed the stairs and headed up into the annex towards the kitchen. She glanced her eyes around, surprised to find no one else in the kitchen. She guessed Chimney was somewhere downstairs tidying up and sorting out like Hen was. And Bobby would probably be in his office sorting through paperwork. She already knew Eddie would be in the gym, that was his routine and why Evan was heading that way now.
Idling through the kitchen, (Y/n) headed over to the fridge and grabbed one of her juice bottles out before she moved over to the cupboard above the sink.
Bobby let them put any snacks, biscuits and drinks in the cupboards and everyone had their own little baskets and sections in the kitchen. (Y/n) knew her boy's routines. They would have a protein shake each before they went out on their first call of the day so (Y/n) may as well grab them one now in case the bell went off soon.
"Jesus, Evan." She grumbled quietly when she looked up into the cupboard and realised how far back Evan had pushed the pack of shakes. He clearly thought someone might come along and take a few and since he was over six foot, it was easy for him to put them at the back of the shelf. Ready so only he could reach them if he wanted one.
(Y/n) pushed up on her toes and pressed her hips into the counter, barely skimming her hand along the plastic packaged bottless that she couldn't quite grasp.
A gasp burned at the back of her throat when she felt a hand suddenly clamp down on her hip and a chest push into her back.
For a brief second, (Y/n) thought it was one of her boys and her first guess was Eddie. She knew if it were Evan behind her, she would of felt his chin perch on her head and he would tease her straight away for not being able to reach. Evan had a tendancy to hide things in high places because he was taller than both (Y/n) and Eddie and he loved them to ask him for help, despite how much it annoyed Eddie.
But she quickly realised it wasn't either of her men. Eddie had a firmer chest and broader shoulders than whoever was behind her.
"Need some help?"
Panic built up in (Y/n)'s stomach and burned up into her chest. That definitely wasn't either of her men. That was a voice she only faintly recognised, it wasn't someone she had the pleasure of working with on most of her shifts.
"I- I got it." (Y/n) held her breath and pushed further into the counter to try and get away from him. Her finger hooked into the plastic but whoever was behind her managed to drag the pack down and let it land on the sink with a thud.
When it didn't feel like he was going to move away from caging her in, (Y/n) clung to the counter and shuffled to the right.
Her arms felt tense and stiff at her sides as she tried to take a deep breath and compose herself. She tore into the six-pack and removed two bottles before she tossed the pack back up. Evan wouldn't mind that (Y/n) had gotten them out because she wasn't drinking or taking them, she was getting them for him and Eddie. Anyone else tried, and they would be sorely reprimanded.
"Thanks," She mumbled quietly, although (Y/n) wasn't sure she had anything to thank him for. But she wanted to keep the peace and be civil, it wouldn't do well starting an argument this early in the morning, and he hadn't technically done anything wrong.
"It's (Y/n), right?"
She nodded, trying to smile as she placed all three drinks down on the counter beside her. She pushed her hip into the cupboard and crossed her arms over her chest. She recognised his face. He was called Darren. They didn't really work closely together, he seemed to be on most of her opposite shifts, they didn't see much of each other.
"You're Buck's girlfriend, aren't you?" He gripped the counter while he stuffed his other hand into his pocket and leaned to the left with one leg crossed over the other. There was something about his smile that made (Y/n) feel on edge but she didn't know why.
"Yeah… I'd best go find him."
She pinned two bottles in the crook of her elbow and grabbed her own drink before she went to walk past him.
"Or are you Eddie's girl?"
The way he said that made (Y/n)'s blood run cold and fizzle down to her toes. She could feel herself becoming lightheaded already. She didn't want to have this conversation. His tone was crude and his smile was sickly, he was looking for some sort of argument or a way to tease and prod at her.
(Y/n), Eddie and Evan had all been lucky so far. No one at the station had made one remark about any of them being in a poly relationship. No one cared. They didn't tut or laugh or tease them or make any sort of crude comments. Bobby was thrilled for all of them and Hen and Chimney were accepting and treated it as if it were such a normal thing around here.
No one else in the station cared or made a scene. (Y/n) thought they had done so well not to have any controversy or any looks or remarks.
Darren had never said anything to (Y/n) before. He barely spoke to her when she was on shift with him, they seemed to move in different circles. So why was he bothering with her now?
"I'm gonna go," There was no way (Y/n) was hanging around Darren when he was looking down at her like that.
When he clamped his hand down on the counter in front of her to act as a barrier in her path, (Y/n) frowned. She took a deep breath, kept her back straight and rammed her side into his arm with enough force to knock him back. She bypassed him and turned the corner with her head held high and a fluttering of panic burning away like an ember in her chest.
Darren had other plans.
Both his hands clamped down on (Y/n)'s hips tight enough to leave imprints and he spun her round and pushed her until her back clashed into the fridge.
She choked on her breath, feeling like her lungs had been shocked into a restart as pain jolted down her spine and along the back of her neck. Her arms bashed out in front of her, dropping all the plastic bottles down to their feet with a clatter but she didn't care.
Her arms crossed in front of her and she thrust them into his chest to push him back but he rammed his knee into the fridge between her thighs to pin her in place.
"Get off! What the Hell are you doing?!" (Y/n) couldn't hide the panic from her voice.
She'd never been in a situation like this before.
A few people had catcalled her over the years, some had been handsy or frisky when she went out to night clubs, but no one had ever actually grabbed her or tried to pin her up like this. He was mad. He had to have a screw loose to be doing this. They were colleagues. They were on shift, it wasn't like they were in a bar or a dark street. Anyone could come up the stairs and see what Darren was doing.
Maybe that was what he wanted. Maybe he wanted to embarrass (Y/n) or have one of the boys to see so he could pretend she was trying to come onto him. Whatever he was doing, he was certainly going to make an enemy of (Y/n) whether this was a joke or not.
(Y/n)'s pupils blew wide and her heart dropped down to her stomach so fast she felt like she had fallen through the floor when Darren grabbed her. One hand stayed on her hip but his other hand suddenly pinched (Y/n)'s jaw in his harsh, cold grip.
He squeezed his fingers into her cheeks and tilted her head up so he could leer over her with a sickening smirk.
"This is what you're into, isn't it? You're balling every guy in the station. Don't you want me too?"
He leaned down close enough so (Y/n) could smell the toothpaste on his breath and see the white flecks lingering at the corners of his mouth. When it looked like he was about to move in to kiss her, (Y/n) fought in his grip until she could wrench her head to the side. She wouldn't look at him. She wasn't going to give him the satisfaction.
With his knee pinned between her thighs, it gave (Y/n) the angle to suddenly jolt her leg up and smash her knee into his groin. It was enough to loosen his grip on her jaw when he doubled over and spat a few curse words her way.
Her eyes snapped closed and she cried out when he slammed her head back into the fridge.
(Y/n) kept her arms crossed and thrust them down on his shoulders, forcing him back until she could stumble forwards and push him down onto his back. She ran, doubled over with one hand cradling the back of her head and her other arm around her stomach to try and tell herself to breathe and calm down and stop panicking.
"S-stay the fuck away from me!" (Y/n) spat down towards him, trying to keep her voice quiet in case anyone was close enough to hear them. She didn't want to cause a scene.
She couldn't tell anyone what he'd done. Telling Bobby would spark an internal investigation because Bobby wouldn't let harrassment go unpunished in his station. And (Y/n) didn't want to cause trouble or more paperwork and have everyone know and look at her. And she couldn't tell the boys. They would lose their minds if they found out what he'd done and (Y/n) wouldn't risk them getting reprimanded for starting a fight.
Straightening up, (Y/n) bolted towards the stairs, leaving the drinks long-forgotten on the floor next to Darren.
Her feet skidded and slipped beneath her as she jolted down the stairs, clinging to the rail to stop herself from falling down on her bum. The last thing she needed was an accident or an injury after that commotion.
Her heart lit up like a fire igniting in her chest when she saw Eddie at the bottom of the stairs. He was stood just to the side of the stairs, tucking his shirt into his trousers. He'd clearly gotten changed from being in the gym earlier which was presumably where Evan still was.
"Morning babe." He pulled his trousers a bit higher up on his hips before he reached his hand out and gripped the bottom of the railing.
Eddie's eyes narrowed a little at how fast (Y/n) came speeding down the stairs and his jaw slacked when she reached out for him before her feet touched the floor. Her arms deadlocked around his neck and she crashed into him, slamming her chest into his so fast Eddie had to take a few steps back to steady the pair of them. He locked his arms around her waist and pressed his lips against the side of her head, grinning as he kissed her temple.
"I guess you both missed me last night, huh?" He mumbled quietly against her temple as he started to rub his hand up and down her back. But his smile began to fade when he realised (Y/n) was shaking against him. "Babe, everything okay?"
(Y/n) tightened her arms around Eddie's neck and burrowed her face into his neck, breathing harshly against his skin when he tried to pull back. She pressed her chest so tightly into his that she could almost feel his heartbeat pulsing through his skin.
It was hard to fight off the tears threatening to pour down her face, but they were at work. (Y/n) didn't want to cause a scene or make issues and she didn't want to cry on shift. She had to compose herself and carry on as if everything was okay.
It wasn't as if she was partnered up with Darren, she barely went out on any calls with him and she wasn't likely to in the future either. She just had to make sure she didn't bump into him around the station- and pray he wouldn't bump into the boys either. And everything would be alright.
"I missed you."
She kept her face tucked into his neck and her lips tickled his skin when she wouldn't pull away enough to speak clearly. But Eddie still heard her and he shivered when she kissed his neck.
"You're shaking because you missed me? I don't buy it. Try again."
Eddie tightened his hands on (Y/n)'s hips and leaned back until she finally lifted her head to look up at him. He could tell something wasn't quite right and she couldn't fool him. She was shaking because of something else, not because she hadn't seen Eddie since early yesterday evening.
"I felt a bit panicky, that's all. I'm okay, just needed a hug." She could see the wheels turning in his mind when his eyes narrowed and he pursed his lips. The small hum he let out showed he was a little more convinced, but not totally accepting that everything was okay.
But he was willing to let it go for now and that was all that (Y/n) needed. She reached her hand round to cup his jaw and pressed a tender, if eager, kiss to his lips that did the trick to calm them both down and make him groan. He leaned forward into the kiss and grazed his teeth over her bottom lip but he growled against her lips again when the bell sounded. He tilted his forehead into hers when they parted and dug his fingers into her hip.
"Stopped by the bell," He murmured against her lips before he turned them both around to face the truck.
Off they went.

"You sure you're okay… you're rather quiet babe." Evan kept his voice low enough that (Y/n) barely heard his words. He hovered his lips against the side of her head and swooped his arm around her waist, reeling her into him until her back was pressed up against his chest.
He knew (Y/n) had woken up with the same level of energy as him this morning and she had seemed fine when they arrived to work. But she had barely spoken a word at the dinner table and she hadn't eaten much either. Evan didn't like it when she went quiet, it made him worry and then he would automatically fill the air because he hated silence.
"Just drifting, I guess."
She forced herself to smile and leaned her head back on Evan's shoulder, reaching her hand up so she could cup his cheek and press a tender kiss against his jaw.
She didn't feel shaky like she had this morning and being busy on shift had made her feel a lot better. But what happened this morning had dampened her mood a lot and (Y/n) felt like she had deflated. She didn't feel the energy to start a conversation or join in with the team, she just wanted to sit in silence and dwell for a while.
A grimace pulled on Evan's lips and he leaned forward to tuck his face into (Y/n)'s shoulder when the bell sounded. "At least we've had lunch," He kissed her neck and smiled as they both moved towards the stairs. He was glad they had managed to get through lunch today without rushing or gobbling food down and then feeling sick. They got to eat in peace and relax for ten minutes afterwards before the bell went off.
Evan's arm stayed looped around (Y/n)'s waist as they headed down the stairs, merged together like they were conjoined and it made (Y/n) relax. Her heart fluttered in her chest and her stomach jumped when Evan pushed further into her hips as they jogged down the stairs, but it was such a good feeling compared to the panic she had felt all morning.
Evan tilted his head back and listened to the speaker as he and (Y/n) moved to stand with the others in front of Bobby. This was a big call. A large fire was spreading through a field and catching the trees on fire. No casualties as of yet.
"I want everyone out on this call please." Bobby started pointing to divert people where he needed them. The whole station was going to be out on this one. "Hen, take the ambulance in case we have any casualties. Buck, Chim, Rhonda, head in truck one." He pointed around the floor and motioned for them to get their gear and head into the truck.
"Meet you there." Evan pecked the side of (Y/n)'s head and smiled into her skin when she squeezed his wrist before he unravelled from her and moved to grab his stuff.
"(Y/n), truck two."
She found herself nodding along, about to smile until she saw who else Bobby was motioning towards the second truck.
Oh no. Please no!
(Y/n)'s feet started to move before she knew what she was doing and she hurried over towards the locker. Her arms began to tremble as she slid them into her jacket and grabbed her helmet. Darren was going in truck two. He was going to be within close proximity of her. Why couldn't she head in the other truck with Evan? Why was Bobby doing this to her?
If (Y/n) asked someone to trade or she climbed into the other truck, someone would say she was doing it to be with Evan. She had to work alongside him, that was the agreement they all had. They could work alongside each other on shift but they couldn't always partner up or try to be together all the time. They had to work within the team, not just with each other. (Y/n) couldn't switch trucks without causing a commotion or raising questions and that was the last thing she wanted to do.
Her throat began to close up and she could feel tears welling in her eyes as her body started to tremble all over. She couldn't breathe. This wasn't fair. She knew what Darren would do, he would sit as close to her as he could. He would strike up a conversation and force her to be civil and pretend he was being kind when really he would try and torment her.
Maybe if she threw up she could hang back at the station. But would anyone say something if she did? Would Darren know she was avoiding him? Could she avoid him?
A fire sparked to life in (Y/n)'s chest when her eyes landed on a familiar mop of chocolate brown hair.
Eddie!
He was making a beeline for the second truck. He would be in there with her. This was her saving grace. She could sit with Eddie or just sit opposite him because he would be enough to ward Darren away from her. He wouldn't try anything if one of her partners was in the truck with them and if he did, Eddie would notice and he wouldn't let anything slide.
Shivers rolled down (Y/n)'s spine and through to her fingertips as she started to run towards the truck. She hazardly leaned around Bobby so she could toss her helmet in the compartment before she clambered up into the truck.
Eddie was sat next to the window and there was a seat free next to him.
(Y/n) didn't waste a second. She moved across and landed down in the seat with a thump. Her hands started to shake when she coiled her belt around her chest and clipped it in, but she could feel herself relaxing already. And when Eddie looked down at her with that dopey grin and handed her a headset, (Y/n) found his smile contagious.
Her smile began to fade when she realised who had sat down next to her on her right.
That was on purpose.
Darren could have chosen any of the two seats across from her. He didn't have to plonk himself down next to her but he did because he was doing this to torment her. He was getting payback for her thumping him earlier and brushing off his horrible advances. Surely he wouldn't try anything when Eddie was right there?
(Y/n) did her level best to keep the smile on her face but she wouldn't give Darren a single glance. She shifted round in her seat so her body was turned towards Eddie just as two more colleagues piled in. They were all sat together, squashed like sardines and a steady conversation floated through the speakers when Bobby got in the driver's seat and started their journey.
Her knees tensed together and her thighs quaked from how tightly she was pressing them together. She shifted her legs a little more to the left until her knees bumped into Eddie's thigh. He was sat with one hand on his thigh and the other arm resting casually against the window like he was posing for a picture and it made (Y/n) smile again.
When she felt Darren lean her way, whether it was on purpose or not she didn't care. She leaned into Eddie until her face was nuzzled into his florescent jacket and her arms were pressing into his side.
Eddie looked away from the window and glanced down at (Y/n) with a soft smile. But when she burrowed closer into his side, he took a deep breath and tilted his head back to see who was sat next to her. The seats weren't exactly large or spacious but they weren't tiny either, she shouldn't feel squashed or hemmed in.
Something unsettled Eddie but he didn't know why. He moved his right arm up and looped it around the back of (Y/n)'s shoulders so she could lean into his chest. His hand curled around her shoulder and he glided his fingertips up and down her arm while her head pressed into his chest.
"Okay?" He murmured into the top of her hair so it wouldn't go through the speakers and catch anyone's attention.
He felt her nod into his chest and it was enough to calm him down and reassure him that she wasn't suddenly feeling panicked or scared about anything. His lips pressed to the top of her head before he went back to looking out the window while his hand rhythmically rubbed up and down her arm to keep her calm.

(Y/n) swiped the helmet from her head and dropped it down on the floor along with her jacket and gloves. She left them next to Hen's equipment for the time being and moved to grab the hose so she could wind it up and lock it away in the truck.
The fire had taken a while to put out.
Half the trees in the open field had caught alight and were now burnt to cinders. The grass was dead and crunched beneath their boots along with the black and grey flakes of ash on the floor. At least they had managed to put the fire out before it spread too far into the surrounding area. And they had no casualties to take care of this time which was another relief.
Sweat rolled down the back of (Y/n)'s neck and slithered beneath the collar of her shirt and she rolled her shoulders to try and get rid of the feeling. Her sweaty palms reached down for the hose and she held it in her left hand and started to slowly coil it up.
She wound it from her wrist and down around her elbow in a large circle as she walked back towards the truck. They were almost finished packing all the equipment away, then they could get back to the station.
Once the hose was locked away, (Y/n) retraced her steps and grabbed her equipment and the few other helmets that had been piled up on the floor when the fires were all out. She made her way round the back of the truck to the other side and started neatly lining everything up in the compartment. If the helmets weren't piled together and stacked carefully, nothing else would fit in the small compartment.
"Alright there?"
The helmet in (Y/n)'s hands toppled down onto her boot before it bounced off and crashed on the floor next to her.
What was he doing? Where was everyone else? Couldn't someone round the corner so Darren wouldn't dare try anything? What had (Y/n) done to upset or annoy him enough to make him try and torment her like this? How was this any fun for him?
"Fine." (Y/n) kept her tone level and her voice loud so he wouldn't think he was intimidating her at all.
She leaned down and grabbed the helmet, trying to stop her sweaty hands from trembling when she shoved the helmet back with a thud and slammed the compartment shut. She wanted to find someone else on the team- someone she trusted, and hover by them. She didn't want to be anywhere near Darren, and especially not when no one else was around.
"Where are you going?" His tone was sickly sweet and the smile on his lips looked somewhat devilish and cruel. But it was the look in his eyes that set (Y/n) on edge and made her want to back away.
When he reached out, either to grab or touch her, (Y/n) flung her arm out to bat him away as she took a few cautious steps back.
"I told you this morning, stay away from me." There was no point side-stepping this conversation when (Y/n) didn't want to speak to him. She wasn't playing nice or talking pleasantries with him, she wanted to be as far away from Darren as possible and she wasn't going to talk to him unless it was strictly necessary.
"Why? Don't you have a thing for the guys at our station?"
"What are you trying to do?" (Y/n) rose her shoulders and held her hands out at her sides as anger boiled through her. She couldn't see his point or why he was doing this, was it fun for him? Did he relish in causing problems and making her uneasy? Did he have a vendetta against her? "Or do you just like being rejected?"
She tossed the insult his way with a look of hatred burning in her eyes. If he wanted to be rejected so badly (Y/n) would keep doing it the more he tried to mess with her. She had no problem telling him to get lost and stay away if he somehow thrived off of that, but it was getting ridiculous now.
She saw him coming.
She saw the way he lunged forward the moment she insulted him and it almost made her smile. (Y/n) lashed her arm out and grabbed his wrist, twisting it away from her before she reached forward and slapped him across the face.
"You're a bastard." Her free hand reached out for the truck to steady herself while she tried to turn around and leave.
(Y/n) needed to get back near the field and out from the shadows cast by the truck and the ambulance. She was penned in behind here, hidden from plain sight with someone she didn't trust and was starting to fear. (Y/n) needed to be somewhere where the rest of the team could see her so Darren couldn't try and play these games with her anymore.
But she didn't get far before he reached out and grabbed her before she could round the back of the truck.
Her body shuddered and her arms thrashed out in front of her but it didn't do anything when Darren's hands pushed her back into the truck. But instead of grabbing her chin like he had done this morning, his hand latched around her throat. The action made tears automatically well up in (Y/n)'s eyes and her lips parted but no air came in or out of her system.
She could feel her boots scraping against the grass, leaving indents and slash marks in the mud where she tried to hold her balance and push up to somehow allow herself to breathe.
Both her hands moved to grab at his wrist and try to claw at his face but she couldn't do very much when his other hand pinned her wrist into the truck and a clatter that resounded through her ears.
Why was he doing this?
(Y/n) tried to slam her shoulders back into the truck and find the momentum to push forward and thrust her weight onto him but he had her pinned like she was glued to the truck. His fingers dug into her neck like pinchers or sharp teeth puncturing into her neck and if she had enough breath, she would have hissed at the feeling.
Tears slid down her face as her shoulders burned and thrashed back into the truck and her back slid down when her feet started to slide in the dirt.
"Isn't this what you want?" His words leered in her ear and made her shiver and (Y/n) closed her eyes as tightly as she could so she wouldn't have to see his face hovering over hers. "How rough do you like it, sleeping with the whole team?"
He wouldn't let go. He wouldn't let her breathe. Stars were dancing across her eyes and blinkering in her vision. She was going to pass out.
(Y/n) did her best to scratch her own nails up and down his exposed arm to cause him some pain and try to get him to release her or just let her breathe. Her throat was starting to burn, his fingers were crushing her windpipe like it was a plastic bottle. He was going to damage her throat he he carried on for much longer.
Stop. Stop. Stop!
"Oi! What the fuck are you doing?!" Evan's dark, clawing voice ripped through the air but (Y/n) barely heard a word he said over the static building up in her ears.
When she opened her eyes, black dots sparkled in front of her like stars twinkling in the sky and she couldn't see Darren leering in front of her anymore. Her body tensed and pushed further back into the truck and her hands let go to slam back into the truck when she felt Evan beside her. She tried to brace herself and remain calm and as still as possible so Evan could get this maniac off of her.
Evan braced one hand on Darren's shoulder and moved the other to his wrist which he twisted to the right until he felt the joint tremor and jolt beneath his touch. He ripped Darren's fingers away from (Y/n)'s throat and pushed him back until he was stumbling over his feet.
Evan spared a quick glance over at (Y/n) and his heart dropped to his stomach when she slid down the truck and landed on her bum with a thud. Her arms cocooned to her chest and she sat, gasping and coughing for air like she had been drowning.
A sheet of red clouded Evan's vision, causing his eyes to squint, his nose to scrunch up and his upper lip to curl into a rabid snarl.
When Darren tried to slam his hands into Evan's arms to get him to let go, Evan scrunched Daren's shirt in his fists and yanked him closer. He didn't think twice before he thrust his head forward and slammed his temple down into Darren's nose until he heard it crack. The pain that blinded Evan's forehead and struck down behind his eyes faded out with the adrenaline that overpowered everything else. And he watched the blood pour down from Darren's nose, finally letting go of him to watch Darren stumble backwards and cradle his nose with a howl.
(Y/n) moved her shaking hands to touch her throat that felt like it was swollen up. Her skin felt raw as if she had been set on fire and her lungs were heaving and aching in her chest, trying to scramble for as much air as she could. It left her sat on the floor, wheezing and spluttering as her chest rose and fell horribly.
"Buck- what are you doing, what's going on?"
Her eyes started to focus again when Eddie's voice rang out through the air and she managed to turn her head to see him speeding across to them with Hen and Bobby following close behind.
Had they heard the commotion? Did they hear Evan start to shout and Darren scream in pain?
Oh God, they were going to have to find out what Darren had done now. (Y/n) would have to make a statement of how he had been acting towards her. This was the last thing she wanted.
She could feel the tears pouring down her face before Eddie even got close to her. He looked perplexed, wanting to comfort her but also wanting to stop Evan from making this situation any worse. Their partner was stood leering over Darren with clenched fists and his shoulders tensed and hunched up, ready to start a brawl here in front of everyone. But Eddie had to go down on his knees next to (Y/n) because she was clearly hurt and she was sobbing, that meant she was in more need of help right now.
His hands reached out for her and he shuffled closer so he could cup her face in his hands. His thumbs brushed across her cheeks, wiping away the torrential downpour of tears that made his heart shatter.
"Sweetheart, what's happened?" Eddie kept his voice low and he dared to trace his thumb along (Y/n)'s lower lip before he held her chin and carefully tilted her head up so he could see why she was gasping so badly.
His blood ran cold when he saw the discolouration around her neck in the shape of fingerprints.
It was hard for Eddie to control the rage burning up inside of him but he did his best to stop himself from moving away or saying something he shouldn't. They were on shift and Evan had already started throwing punches by the look of things. They didn't need Eddie getting involved too.
He pressed his fingers beneath (Y/n)'s jaw and felt her pulse until her hand clamped down on his wrist and she leaned forward. She tucked her face into his neck and pressed herself as close into his chest as she could until her shaking started to make Eddie tremble too. He curled an arm around her waist and pressed his lips to the top of her head.
"Buck- Buck stop! That's enough!" Bobby wrapped both his arms around Evan's biceps and pinned his arms behind him. He took three steps back and dragged Evan with him after Evan pulled his knee up and smashed it into Darren's groin.
Hen moved to stand in front of him and she reached out to give Darren a nudge until he flopped back and sat down on the floor. He had blood gushing down from his broken nose, drenching the rest of his face and now he was sat groaning and whimpering. He needed to sit down before he fell down.
"What are you doing?"
"I walked round the corner and found him pinning (Y/n) to the truck by her throat! The bastard was strangling her so I taught him a lesson." Evan pulled his arms out of Bobby's grip and stumbled forward. He wasn't about to lunge into another attack but he didn't want to be restrained.
There was no way Evan would just stand there and watch someone attack his girlfriend in broad daylight, while they were on shift no less. Whatever Darren thought he was doing, he wasn't about to get away with it and if they weren't at work, Evan would have given him more than a bruised ego and a broken nose. He barely knew Darren as it was, he didn't work with him on many shifts and he didn't think (Y/n) did either. He couldn't see why he would suddenly attack her out of nowhere but Evan didn't really care why.
Nothing Darren said would explain this and he wasn't going to get away with it.
(Y/n) scrunched her fingers into Eddie's shirt and moved her head to press her face into his shoulder when his hands slid round to cup her hips. He kept his lips pressed against her head and gently lifted her up with him.
Once they were both back on their feet, Eddie nudged (Y/n) back until she was propped up against the truck and he was stood between her legs. His fingers squeezed soothingly into her hips and he tilted his head to the side, pressing his temple against the side of her head while his lips hovered over her cheek near the corner of her mouth.
"Did he do something this morning? You came downstairs in a panic… was that because of him?" Eddie kept his voice quiet as he kissed the corner of her mouth and nudged his nose against hers.
There had to be more to it than this. Darren couldn't just attack (Y/n) out of the blue, he had to have a reason no matter how stupid it was. And Eddie refused to believe something hadn't been wrong this morning when (Y/n) was almost slipping into a panic attack.
Coupled with the way he'd seen her burrow into his side in the truck to distance herself from Darren cemented everything in his mind.
"Sweetheart, tell me."
(Y/n) closed her eyes and slid her hands up Eddie's chest to cup his neck. She tried to stop her breathing from running away without her but it was hard when the shaking wouldn't subside and her chest felt like it was restarting itself. She knew she would have to explain. She couldn't hide this from them and Bobby would need an explanation soon for a report about all of this.
Her nose brushed against Eddie's cheek as she leaned up to whisper in his ear. "He cornered me in the kitchen, he t… he tried to pin me up… said I was fucking half the station."
(Y/n)'s blood ran cold when Eddie tensed up against her like he was turning to stone before her eyes.
A jolt ran down her spine when Eddie smashed his fist into the side of the truck and turned around so quickly (Y/n) barely saw him move. Her heart jumped up into her throat while a stone set deep in her stomach. She stumbled forward, reaching her hands out to latch them around Eddie's bicep and pull him back before he had chance to get near Darren. She couldn't be the cause of any more fights or arguments.
"Eddie no-"
"He tried it on this morning! The jealous little prick tried to hurt her this morning too."
"She was asking for it."
(Y/n) pushed herself into Eddie's back and pressed her face into the back of his shoulder, keeping her arms tightly bound around his bicep. She felt his hand reach back to clamp down on her hip, making sure she stayed behind him and so he could ground himself to her so he didn't go and start a fight he desperately wanted to win.
"You'd better shut up before I break your neck!" Evan shook off Bobby's hold when he tried to reach out for him again. It was Darren they needed to restrain, not Evan.
He turned his back on the man sat on the floor, coughing and spewing up blood that was pouring down from his nose. He made a beeline over for his partners despite the fury burning deep within his eyes and the blood rushing along his neck to taint his face.
"Enough! Hen, take him back to the station in the ambulance, I'll deal with your disciplinary action when we get back. You three, in the truck please before I have to write you up too." Bobby didn't want to have to do any more paperwork than necessary and he wasn't going to tell Evan off when he was defending his partner. But he couldn't have them fighting any more than this.
"Are you alright?" Evan ran his hands up and down (Y/n)'s arms and kissed the back of her head while she loosened her grip on Eddie's arm so he could turn around and face them both.
She found herself nodding but neither of them believed her. (Y/n) wasn't even sure she believed herself.
Her throat was killing and throbbing and aching and it felt like her neck had been stretched. Her chest was still shuddering and quaking and her heart was battering in her chest like it was about to give out.
(Y/n) let herself sink back into Evan's chest while Eddie went back to cupping her hips and leaned over so he could kiss her temple.
"Don't worry, he won't dare come anywhere near you again. I'll break his legs if he does."

Nagging
Barcelona Femení x Teen!Reader
Summary: You move from Lyon to Barcelona
Tumblr media
You were pretty young when Lucy was at Lyon - rising through the youth academy at such a steady pace that she was a little upset that she left before you could make your debut.
You were talented, she knew that, but playing alongside you was something that she had been looking forward to.
It was a shame that she left for City the year that you debuted, shooting to the top of the best goalscorers of the season.
But it was all fine now, as you slipped out of her car in Barcelona and tugged your hood up.
"Oh, come on," She said jovially, an arm over your shoulder," Are you really teenage angsting this early in the morning?"
You gave her a look that was clearly modelled off of Alexia's. "Maybe if you didn't have Narla jumping on my bed to wake me up, I'd be happier with you!"
She laughed, keeping you by her side no matter how you tried to wiggle away. "I bought you breakfast!"
"You bought you breakfast," You reminded her," You let me take the pastries you don't like."
"I feed you, walk you-"
"I'm not Narla!"
"-Make sure you're healthy and this is the thanks I get? God, raising a teenager is hard work."
You rolled your eyes. "You're hardly raising me."
"Shhh." Lucy shoved your hood further onto your head, tugging it down to cover your eyes. "Don't break my heart."
You rolled your eyes and knocked your bag against hers as you slipped into the locker room. Thankfully, you had a respite from her, sandwiched between Patri and Pina's lockers.
You got dressed with mechanical efficiency, pulling on your shorts and training top and then your socks. As you sat to lace your boots, your mind wandered.
You had a few questions left on your Physics worksheet from last night that you needed to work on but that was it. If you could jot down some answers within an hour of getting home, you'd probably be allowed to head to the corner store and stock up on snacks.
You hummed to yourself, nodding before getting up.
Lucy threw her arm around you again as Aitana joined the pair of you. Aitana was usually stuck to Keira's side but with Keira doing media, she joined you and Lucy.
She looked over you critically as you sat down on the pitch, refusing to get up until everybody else appeared. "Your shoes aren't done up properly."
You look down at them, shrugging. "Huh, I guess so. I'll do them up later."
"Do it now," She urged," You'll forget later. Do them now."
You rolled your eyes. "No, I won't."
"Yes, you will. Just like last week when you forgot to zip up your jacket and I had to do it even though it was nearly freezing."
"My fingers were numb! That's not my fault!"
Aitana crossed her arms over her chest. "Do your laces."
You did as you were told but made sure to grumble so she knew you were doing it begrudgingly.
Lucy remained standing over you too, eyeing your boots up strangely. "I thought I told you to get new boots. These ones are practically falling apart."
You tried to defend yourself. "I've been busy!"
"Doing what? Playing video games all day?"
"No! Some-Sometimes I sleep..."
Lucy rolled her eyes. "We'll go boot shopping tonight."
"Do we have to?"
"Yes."
"You're no fun." You stood from the ground with your newly laced shoes and wandered away, not wanting to get nagged anymore. That was probably the reason you avoided Alexia and many of the other older members of the squad.
Although that idea didn't really go to plan when Frido sidled up to you.
You thought, for a moment, that she was going to lecture you but she just gave you one of her silly grins and passed you a packet of sweets.
You opened it quickly, pouring everything into your mouth all at once and disposing of the evidence as soon as you could. With the nagging mood all the older girls were in today, you didn't want to take any chances of them seeing you break your diet.
Frido winked at you and you grinned at her, keeping your little secret.
Though, not for long because Aitana noticed and snitched on you, leaving you standing in front of the older girls as they lectured you about healthy eating and fuelling your body properly.
●~●~●~●~
You squirmed in Lucy's grip as she smeared sun cream all over your face. Or, well, she poured more sun cream than necessary into her hand and slapped all over your cheeks.
"Lucy!" You groaned as you tried to get away," Stop it! That's too much!"
"Too much?" She echoed with a laugh," I don't think it's enough at all."
She reached for the bottle and you shrieked, kicking it clear across the room. "I haven't even absorbed most of it!"
She winked at you. "Just make sure you don't get skin cancer."
You groaned and contemplated slamming your head against the brick walls - although with the amount of sun cream still on your skin it was more likely you would leave an imprint of your face.
"I won't get skin cancer," You insisted, a hair's breadth away from stamping your foot," And I don't need more sunscreen."
"Lucy," Keira, also being no help, laughed," Stop being annoying."
Lucy, still being annoying, gasped dramatically," Me? Annoying? Excuse me, I'm just trying to make sure the kid stays healthy. Renard will have my head if I return her with a single hair out of place."
"Hair that I'm going to tear out in frustration if you keep trying to drown me in sun cream."
Lucy rolled her eyes, swiping some of the excess off your face to rub into her own skin. "Alright, grumpy. Have it your way but if you end up all red and peeling, I expect you to take full responsibility."
"I'm not going to burn," You said dismissively, pulling up your socks.
"Uh-huh," Lucy said clearly not believing you," Sure, kiddo."
"I'm not!"
She gave you a look.
"I'm not."
She just continued to stare, face splitting into the widest, smuggest smirk you had ever seen when you let her rub more sun cream into your face, just to be safe.

Success Storyy
This is gonna be long one I hope you don't mind I will be leaving from here so maybe my journey could be a little motivation 😅
First of all Tia I really love you and @gorgeouslypink 😭, I've been on the this journey for a very long time since I was like 16,I'm currently 19.
My Journey
After my father's death in 2018,we hit poverty real bad,and I wanted to be there for my mother but all she cared about was her restaurant and my brothers. My father before dying had already named the will under my name when because he wanted my brothers to earn something on their own. But I was allowed to use to use the money when I turn 18. I wanted to get out of the small apartment as soon as possible I found Law of attraction and as we know it was useless for 2 years I wasted my time in law of attraction then on 2020 I found Law of Assumption the best thing honestly.
My LOAssumption journey start during the pandemic, when everything shut down and my mom's restaurant closed. My living condition wasn't the best even before the restaurant was opened,we would earn $90 - $100 dollars a week sometimes even less but it wasn't enough for us because my mother have to give half of it to 3 of the workers, pay our electric and water bill, our rented apartment and my elder and younger brother's college and school fee.
I was the only one studying in a community high school from 3 the of us,both my brothers were in were in private college and school,I didn't had the best relationship with my mother she have always prioritised my siblings because they were boys and never really cared about me both my brothers had their own rooms while I was asked to sleep in the living room's couch.
At that point life was bearable for me,I had even manifested a part time job and was thinking to move out. But it wasn't all easy for me when the lock down was announced I saw how my mother would worry about everything even if she didn't like me I still was the only one who worried about her condition but my brothers were brat and didn't really help for 20 year old my elder brother was too immature and i didn't liked him at all.
And as everyone was there at home 24/7 I start finding it hard to manifest because my circumstances were very unbearable and I couldn't stay in a state. Then is stumble upon Void state and all I knew is i overcomplicated it, I wasn't able to persist in one method,I would constantly change method it continued till this year and then I went back again to LOA for my rescue and then again it was hard for me to manifest big desires and then here I was back again to Void.
How and when did I enter
Since the last week of October I was again persistent to enter void I read every single post properly and was motivated to enter void from there I made a routine but guess what I failed again because of my lazy ass.
About 2 weeks agoi saw a success story by a blogger I forgot her user name but it was Vixen she basically entered through lucid dream and i realized that through out my void journey I never gave importance to lucid dreaming,so why not try become lucid.
My biggest problem was I couldn't choose what affirmations I should use and I was never confident about waking up in void like not at all.
So I just choose one askfirmation to affirm it all the time"Why do I lucid dream every night?".
Along with that I choose random subliminals.
https://youtu.be/Hg3pLT6-JWw?si=aRrLF-JkljuKrs3e
https://youtu.be/nHDLd94SKUI?si=3gN1-zsdW_ki0isV
And I also did psych-k 10 mins not specific time I would do it everytime I'm free.
And I did it only for 9 days. And on 17th of November I officially entered void and affirmed that I always enter void whenever I want.
On 18th of November I made a list of my desires and enter void again official manifested my dream life and I revised my father's death along with that I manifested a new biological mother and also new siblings.
(Don't come at me for changing my mother and siblings I have my own reasons)
I even shifting to my DR I was a in 1940's it was really amazing.
Honestly if I say I'm pretty much of a procrastinator and even doing this easy routine was kind of difficult for me but if you are a person who is consistent then you definitely will lucid dream within a week.
I will be leaving Tumblr forever btw. So farewell to my fellow shifters and manifesters. May you all succeed in manifesting your dream life as well and never give up easily Bye bye✨
Once again I luv you Tia and pink.
MY BEAUTIFUL ANON, OMG CONGRATULATIONS ♡
I am literally so happy for you, my love and your success story is so heartwarming. You've been through so much and wow your persistence really pushed through. Thank you so much for sharing your success story and how you got in. Enjoy your dream life to the fullest, angel, and enjoy your adventures to your drs. I love you so much more <33

bedtime with mike and abby ( mike schmidt x reader)

*edit* this isn’t revised!! i threw something together last min and posted cause i felt like writing lol. don’t mind the typos
word count: 1,633
warnings: none! just fluff, angst if u squint!!
summary: nighttime with mike and abby on his day off!
Most of the time, you, your boyfriend Mike, and his little sister Abby were on entirely different schedules. Mike worked nights at a shitty gas station job for the time being after his job at Freddy's was... well.. no more for obvious reasons. Even though he swore off the night shift, this was necessary until he could find something better. Jobs were sparse at the moment, and Mike's history didn't exactly make him a star candidate.
A typical night would consist of you making the three of you dinner, slowly forcing Abby to venture out when it came to her taste buds. Recently, she'd taken a liking to tacos. You and Mike would make a joint effort to get her ready for bed earlier together, as Mike was more particular about being there for her since the incident. She'd get a bath, get into her jammies, and the two of you would tuck her in with a bedtime story. You'd both kiss her little forehead goodnight, then kiss your boyfriend on his lips before sending him off.
Most nights, you tossed and turned in your sleep, unable to rest properly without Mike by your side. A painfully dull feeling would rest in your stomach, the lack of his warmth beside you agonizing. You'd spend all night waiting for 6am to roll around as you felt the bed dip on his side, barely stirring you from your sleep. You'd have thirty minutes until your alarm went off, thirty minutes to wrap yourself up into him before you once again went on your separate ways... living your separate lives until you could have your few hours of union later on.
But tonight, you were lucky. Mike had gotten the next few days off. His job was being extra kind as they actually recognized the hard work Mike put in, something he wasn't used to. They'd told him someone would take over for a bit, to enjoy himself, to rest. It may have been a low-paying, trashy, borderline dangerous job, but his boss was nice, and the customers were certainly safer to deal with than those at the pizzeria.
You called out sick from work, not wanting to miss a single second with your little trio. You'd both even made the decision to pull Abby out of school for the day, spending it building forts, watching movies, and eating ice cream. The three of you even went out rollerskating, Mike awkwardly tumbling every few seconds on the rink as Abby would bust out laughing at him. The three of you were now sat around on the couch, Mike smooshed into the far side of the armrest as your entire body lay on his, Abby's head resting in your lap as she sleepily blinked her eyes. She'd already had her bath, brushed her teeth, and all three of you were in your pajamas.
"So, everyone have a good day?" Mike asked, turning his head to the two of you with a small but sleepy smile.
"Mhm," Abby hummed quietly, slowly nodding her head against your lap. It was clear that she was moments from passing out, and once Abby was out, she was impossible to get up without a fight.
"Okay, I think it's time for bed," you giggled, slowly lifting your own head up from Mike's shoulder. Mike nodded in agreement, a laugh of his own escaping his lips.
You both slowly pulled Abby up, getting her up on her feet, her half asleep state making her delirious as she wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, staring back at the two of you in confusion.
"C'mon, Abs, it's time for bed," Mike muttered, standing up. He grabbed your hand, pulling you up with him. You stood as well, following Mike as he led Abby to her room. She crawled up into her bed, her little body tucking under her blankets as the two of you sat on both sides of her.
"Want a bedtime story?" Mike asked, raising his eyebrows as he leaned down to press a small kiss to Abby's forehead. Abby's lips parted to answer, but before she could, her eyes were closed and she was out. A sincere and quiet chuckle escaped underneath Mike's breath, his eyes full of love for his sister as her stared down at her. You couldn't help but stare, the edges of your mouth turning up into a sleepy smile of your own. He was so majestic, his messy but soft brown curls were laying in every which way on his head. Even though he was much more rested than usual, his eyes were still somewhat sunken in, but to you, that just made him more attractive. His scruff was messy, unshaven, but it managed to highlight his jawline. The sparkle that remained in his eyes, even through it all, after everything that he'd been through, warmed you to your core, your love for him overwhelming.
"What?" Mike asked quietly with a smile still plastered on his lips, his eyes now locked on yours. A blush crossed your cheeks as you realize you’d been caught, your eyebrows raising.
“Nothin’,” you hummed, shaking your head. “Just admiring you.” Your hand reached out to his as the two of you went to your own bedroom, the only light now lighting up your house being the moonlight and street lamps peeking through the blinds. You both crawled into bed, pulling the blankets over your bodies.
There was nothing but silence other than the sound of the fan in your room, the hum almost hypnotic as you wrapped yourself up in his arms. Your head rest against his chest as he instantly tugged you closer, his back flat on the bed as his hand cradled your side. His thumb drew small figure eights on your shoulder. Your body felt fuzzy, a type of relaxation you hadn’t felt at night in a while. Mike made you feel safe. On nights where you two were able to just snuggle up, nothing could buzz in your mind. Anxious thoughts disappeared, even the ones that seemed to be a constant in the back of your brain. There was nothing but a warmness in your mind and a beam of love in your heart.
“Hey, baby?” You heard Mike ask softly, his voice cracking from his sleepiness. You were broken from your train of thought by this, looking up at the man with the sleepy eyes. “Hm?” You hummed in response, your eyes fluttering, but he couldn’t see due to the lack of light. Mike sat up, pulling you up with him as he grabbed your hands, both of your faces now lit up by the light peeking through the cracks in your curtain.
“I- I know we don’t get nights like these much, and I’m sorry. I’m sorry I’m never home, I’m sorry you have to do so much for you and Abby alone. I’m sorry I dragged you into that mess with Freddy’s, got you involved in so much of this,” he said, his voice seeping with sadness and regret. His eyes held an even softer emotion than they did earlier, one that felt like a knife to your chest. “Most importantly, I’m sorry I can’t be the boyfriend I should be. I mean, we should be spending our nights out at clubs, going out on special dates and vacations, and I hate that I’m unable to give you that,” he sniffled, a tear now falling down his eye.
You leaned forward, a frown on your lips as your eyebrows furrowed, your eyes locked on his as you placed your hand on his cheek, wiping away the tear with your thumb as you shook your head. Mike’s own two much larger hands were now placed on both of your cheeks as he continued. “But listen, Y/N, I love you, more than I have ever loved anyone, okay? I- I’m not good at this shit, I know I’m not. I’m clumsy and I’m bad at emotions. I don’t always know what I want or what I need, but I know I don’t only want you, but I need you. You came into my life and you brightened it where it was the darkest. You brought happiness back, you made me understand what joy was again, what it was like to feel.. complete. You saved me, but..” he trailed off again, full on tears falling down his cheeks now. “Most importantly, you saved Abby, made her feel whole again too, gave her somethin’ like a mother, something I couldn’t give her,” he said, his voice breaking at the end. Before he could say another word, you wrapped around arms around him, pulling him into a massive bear hug. He buried his head into the crook of your neck, your mind not even focused on the salty tears and the snotty nose that was leaned up against your shoulder. Your hands rubbing his back as you kissed the top of his head.
“Oh, baby..” you whispered softly, squeezing him like if you let go he’d disappear. “You know I love you so much too…” you finished, pulling his face up by his chin, pressing a soft, gentle but electric kiss to his lips. The two of you then settled back into bed, curling up in each other’s arms as he played with your hair, occasionally leaning down to press a gentle kiss to your lips, small sniffles still leaving his nose from the emotional moment. He was right, it was rare you got moments like these together, but when you did, you cherished them. It took about thirty minutes of sweet nothings and cuddles before the two of you drifted off, in your own little dream worlds filled with many nights like these.

He freezes. Doesn't know what the hell else to do.
He can't picture it: Derek can't remember the last time somebody put their arms around him.
Was it Laura?
Of course it was Laura. How could he forget that? Derek has gotten pretty good at blocking things out—a little too good, it seems.
She didn't tell him she was going before she left New York. Didn't say a fucking word, just vanished. Derek had woken up one morning and she was gone. She'd known without doubt that Derek would only follow her if she had said a single word to him.
Nobody ever granted Derek’s wishes, no matter who he prayed to. The desperate pleas where he asked to go back and get a chance to fix things, they all went unheard.
Laura left to go back to the place they both wished still existed just as it had; a place they were wanted alive, not dead. It wasn't fair that it was the very same place they would be hunted down if they did return, like the rabid animals the Argent's presumed they were.
Leaving the way they did meant they hadn't gotten the chance to see if anything was left at the house. They couldn't mark graves, or grieve properly.
That same place also happened to be the place they'd been born, the place they'd grown up and called home.
Derek had never wanted Laura to face all of that alone.
The burnt down house. The nothing where there was once everything.
The thought still haunts him. One of so fucking many.
Beacon Hills is home—but it's the home Derek had helped raze to the ground with his selfishness and stupidity. Everything he and Laura had ever known, everyone they'd ever loved, it was all gone, now. Derek had taken those things away from his sister and hadn't even had the guts to tell her. Tell Laura they were all gone because of him, tell her that everything that had happened to their family, to them, was all his fault.
In the aftermath of the fire Laura hugged Derek, and had kept hugging him, over and over in those weeks and months and years that followed. She would pull him into her arms hold him tight, whenever she could sense it was all getting to be too much for him again.
Alpha.
Big sister.
But Laura only knew about some of the reasons why it sometimes felt like too much effort for Derek to keep on breathing.
He never told her about Kate.
And Derek, the fucking coward, he'd allowed Laura to hold him, feeling the flames of shame on his cheeks every time, hot as those that took the lives of his parents. His family. His pack.
Now, he remembers that last time.
“I'm going out.”
Laura stood up, walked around the two mismatched armchairs and stopped him by throwing both her arms around his neck, pulling him into her and hugging him, scenting him.
It always took him a moment to respond these days, but Derek hugged her back.
“What's this for?”
“You. Because I know whomever's bed you end up in tonight, you won't be asking for one of these.”
Oh, fuck no. Derek couldn't handle that. Did she think he was out sleeping with people? Never again, not after…
He pushed his sister off him, gently; a stark contrast to the harsh words that followed.
“Don't fucking coddle me. And fuck you, Laura—I don't sleep in anybody's fucking bed but my own.” A single mattress on the floor of the lounge of their shitty one bedroom apartment. Derek had so many shameful memories, and crawling into his sister's bed every night for the first year after the fire was one of them. “Just—leave me alone.”
Laura was the one—the only—person Derek had left in the entire world, yet his guilt was constantly pushing her away.
“Then where do you go to all these nights, little brother? You might not be clinging to me anymore, night after night, nightmare after nightmare, but you're so rarely in your own bed in the mornings.” She hadn't meant it as a dig. She was his sister and she loved him.
Maybe she thought he was making progress? Seeing people. Moving on.
Derek spent his nights waiting outside of dive bars, hanging around in back alleys and dark places, desperately trying to find scumbags he could taunt who were big enough and hard enough to at least attempt to kick the living shit out of him.
Derek hated being a werewolf, now. He wanted to get hurt and stay hurt.
“Just—out.”
Then Derek turned his back on Laura, leaving her to stand there and watch him walk away as he left her to go out looking for a fight, without looking back.
That was the last time somebody put their arms around Derek—and the last time he saw his sister alive.
It was two years ago. Derek doesn’t think he has taken a full breath, since.
Now here he is, standing in his big stupid loft that he bought for his betas—yet another pack he managed to destroy—having given away more than he should, with skinny yet strong arms wrapping themselves as far around his shoulders as they can reach.
Stiles.
“You don't have to hug back. But you can, if you want to. I won't tell,” the kid jokes. It's his way to connect, his connection to the world. A coping mechanism, Derek thinks.
He knows all about those.
“I…” he doesn't have the first fucking clue of how to handle this. Or how to admit he needs it—to himself, let alone somebody else. He doesn't know how to admit that he wants it.
But this is Stiles. The one person in Derek's life who seems, for some unfathomable reason, to give a fuck about Derek. To care about him.
Slowly, very slowly, Derek lifts an arm and awkwardly rests a hand on Stiles's upper back, feels the muscles jump slightly under the kid's baggy clothes as he tentatively spreads his fingers and finds the back of Stiles's neck.
Stiles's voice hitches just a touch as he says, “These can be on tap, you know. If you want them. Stilinski hugs are the best hugs, dude. Believe.”
And Derek finds he does believe. For the first time in forever, Derek believes there could be something good in his life again.
More confidently, now, he brings his other arm up to wrap around Stiles's waist and hugs Stiles tighter, properly, and allows himself to be hugged back.
Derek wonders how he has gone so long without this kind of closeness. Lived without this kindness.
He decides to let the 'dude' pass. Because maybe—maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all, to be somebody's dude?
Stiles's dude.
It's a fucking ridiculous moniker and yet Derek suddenly couldn't care less.
“I think I'd like that,” he whispers into the forbidden place where Stiles's jaw meets long, pale neck. "Dude."
Derek can feel Stiles's smile as the kid squeezes him harder. And, ironically, Derek feels as if he can breathe again.
.
for @greyhavenisback bc i want to hug you in person and can't <3 (unedited, forgive me!)

ꕥ pairings: lando x reader
ꕥ parts: 1
ꕥ tagging: @gulphulp
ꕥ summary: they hadn't seen each other in months after their breakup, which left them in more misery than they thought. because now they'll do anything to make it work.
ꕥ authors note: I've been planning this in my head while writing the first part to this and i really like how this came out! going to work on christmas imagines and also finish up a request that I've been meaning to write!
ꕥ warnings: smut (at the end if you don't want to read that part), heavy angst (wanted to break some hearts), mentions of alcohol abuse and heavy drinking, mentions of eating struggles. not proofread the end.
IT'D BEEN MONTHS. months since he last abandoned her in their old apartment. since he drove off in his mclaren, punched the rearview mirror because he couldn't take it. to this day, he regretted it with every fiber of his being. he tried to convince himself for days on end, it was for the better. but was it really?
he was struggling. he couldn't sleep properly, staring at the dark ceiling, feeling beside him in the bed for another warm body, breaking his heart more every time he reminded himself that she wasn't here. it was cold.
it was cold despite the blistering summer heat of monaco, windows open to let in the heat. max swore at him every time because despite being rich, he was letting out cool air. but lando couldn't stand the cold. without her, his heart was frigid.
it worsened as the months grew colder and races passed him by. he was peforming fine, for now, but he'd reach his limit soon enough.
he hated when the air got bitterly frozen because this year, he wouldn't have her. he wouldn't have the heat that radiated off her to keep him warm.
he'd waste himself away with alcohol to forget the memory of leaving her. it turned his stomach in knots everytime to think of her watching him leave because they didn't know what to do to fix them. he wish he knew, he should've.
more often than not, he'd spent his nights on bathroom floors of the club, puking his guts out into the toilet, or sitting on the kitchen floor belonging his temporary roommate, max fewtrell. he sat against the tiled floor and wooden cabinets with a half-emptied bottle in his hands, tears on his face.
he'd sit there for hours, wasting away with every sip burning at his throat. he hated alcohol, but it was the only way to cope because he didn't want to remember any moment without her.
when he was nearly passed out on the floor, max would drag him up by his arms, forcing more than a few glasses of water down his throat. he'd grown familiar with his friend's new sulking.
max threw him on the guest room bed he didn't bother to make because he was miserable. he made it everyone's problem then. he'd leave his passed out friend a concoction of medicines to help with the hangover, he'd gotten used to this routine for the past couple of months.
when lando would stumble his way down the stairs, hands wrapped in his curls with a splitting pain through his head and a grimace on his face, all max would comment is "well, aren't you a pitiful sod."
lando rolled his eyes, groaning at the pain as he did so, sitting on a chair at the table across from his best friend, cringing at the resemblance of dinners with his girl—who wasn't even his anymore.
"jesus, mate, maybe you do need an intervention." he'd push his bowl of oatmeal towards lando, watching the expression on his face closely.
"I'm fine."
"clearly not," max scoffed, "mate, it's great havin' you here, but y'need to sober up."
"I will."
"you've said that last month, and the month before that, and the month before that." he shook his head, "I don't even get why you guys broke up."
lando groaned, rubbing his fingertips to his temple and chugging the water before he spoke, "it wasn't working out, 'ts for the best."
"for the best? are you kidding me?" he scoffed his friend's words, he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
to max, breaking up was for the worst. he could tell lando was in misery, and he'd guess she was the same, maybe worse. maybe he didn't know much, but he knew enough to know that they were meant for each other.
"I'm not kidding," he muttered, pushing the oatmeal around the bowl, his spoon clinking against the sides, "besides, we tried to fix it, 'n it didn't work."
he paused, "fix it 'ow?"
lando rolled his eyes, feeling the consequences of his actions through his head, mumbling under his breath, "we went out to eat."
"you're jokin' me?" he leaned forward, a look of disbelief and disappointment on his face, "you went out to eat? how's that goin' to solve anything?"
lando shrugged again, refusing to look max in the eye as he pushed the mush around in his bowl, picking out the bits of fruit throughout.
"you're a real geezer, y'know that?" he sighed deeply, leaning back into the stool as he sat looking at his idiotic friend, "it was a perfectly salvageable relationship, mate, and you just threw it away." he shook his head, his arms crossed against his chest as he leaned his head on one hand.
"you gonn' call me a muppet next?" he aggressively bit into the small strawberry.
"might as well because you're acting like one. now why did you break up with her?"
"she broke up with me." he quietly corrected him, though it didn't seem to shed light on the fact that they didn't try as much as they thought they did.
"then fight for your relationship!" max exclaimed, throwing his hands up in response, "did you ever talk about what was wrong?"
"we didn' have time to," lando admitted, "and we didn't know what to do." he pushed aside the bowl, having barely touched the food residing in it. it's gone cold now, just like him.
"make the time!" he suggested, jabbing his finger into the counter to make a point, "when was the last time you were alone together?"
"when we had dinner together."
max groaned, shoving his face into his hands, rubbing his closed eyes on his palms. lando was starting to give him a headache, "when was the last time you were alone together, no people, no cameras, no fans, just you and her doing something?"
"i 'ont know."
"jesus, man." his voice muffled into his skin as his face remained in his palms because of the idiocracy of his friend.
"well, what do you suggest i do then, max?" lando's tone got seemingly more aggressive and annoyed, the volume of his voice raising slightly.
"actually spend time with her! take her on holiday!" he suggested, matching energies.
"mate, I can't just ask her after months of not speakin'," lando's stool pushed against the floor as he stood up, he was agrivated. he harshly grabbed the bowl with the cold food and shoved it in the sink.
max turned in his seat, "right, so just give up and go back to drinkin' then?"
lando ignored the comment, it infuriated him because max was right. if he didn't find the solution to his problem, he probably would go back to getting blackout drunk. all in hopes that'd help forget his misery
he leaned against the sink with his arms, his head hung between his inner biceps with his eyes closed, taking deep breaths before asking, "how should I ask her then?"
"you truly are a muppet."
"christ, just help m'out here!" lando pleaded because he couldn't take it anymore. he'd been losing himself to however many bottles of alcohol that'd stacked in the bin and the amount of over-the-counter drugs he'd force down his burned throat. all to forget what seemed like an impossible fix, but all he needed was another person. just because they didn't know what to do doesn't mean others wouldn't.
and of course max would help. he just had to give lando a hard time for screwing up so badly because he would've never expected him to show up at his front door midday, stumbling drunk and muttering slurred phrases about her.
his first thought when he saw his disoriented friend was to wonder if something had happened, the obvious answer being, obviously. because lando barely drank. max knew how much he couldn't stand the taste and chasing burn so it wasn't often you'd catch him drunk, much less to this extent.
he knew it had to involve his girlfriend by the here-and-there words he could decipher from the rest, but he couldn't expect to get the full story from the utter nonsense his friend spewed.
it wasn't till morning max discovered the extent of lando's stupidity.
" 'ts your relationship," max sighed, "and you realize she might not be so accepting to see you."
it hurt to think about. he didn't know what was worse, for her to be in such misery like himself or for her to not want him back. his stomach tied itself in knots to even think about, but he was the one who left her in the first place.
"yeah, I know."
he was lost without her. everything seemed so meaningless without her by his side, though she hadn't been for months, even when they were together. but the idea of her presence somewhere in his vicinity was all he needed.
she was like a drug he tried so hard to quit because it seemed to be getting him no where. but he was addicted. all he thought about when he wasn't drunk was her. every single dollar wasted on booze was drank to forget her. the lack of her in his life.
so when he showed up at her doorstep, it was more than just a shock. she'd opened the door, the last thing she expected was to see him, standing with an expression that seemingly matched hers. the smell of booze wafting from his clothes and the bittersweet smell of his cologne she had long forgotten about. smelling it again brought back everything she tried to learn to forget about him.
she wanted to be mad, to push and kick him away, but she'd been waiting for months for him to reappear into her life. for him to come back to her, the anticipation built in her body every time the door bell echoed off the walls, or knocks that pounded against the door.
but instead she slammed the door almost immediately, and he didn't blame her. how could he when he'd been the one to leave. because on the other side of that door, her heart was pounding.
she'd been wanting to see him for so long, so badly wanted him back in her life, but what if they made the same mistakes? she couldn't take losing him a second time because she'd already lost most of herself when he drove away the first time.
because she'd watched her future slip through her fingertips and there wasn't anything she knew that would make her catch it.
she knew she was to blame for breaking them up. it was for the best, she told her guilty conscience, but it didn't change the heart-wrenching want to have him back.
she'd spent months in the cocoon she made of their cold bed, ultimately settling on his side to feel closer to him. but what was the point? he hadn't slept in that bed in months, the sheets that reeked of him faded, and even more so when he left her, for at the time she thought, forever.
"love, please," he pleaded against the door, his forehead against the cold metal, "I screwed up, but please, let me fix this, us."
she hesitated. she knew she was the type to let people who hurt her back into her life so easily, as if nothing happened, but she was the one who forced him out. she knew that.
so when the door creaked open, he pushed himself away from the door as fast as lightning. her doe eyes peaking around, staring at his chest before they found their way to his face. he'd changed. he looked tired, unkept. she'd be lying if she said she looked the same as she did months ago because she honestly looked worse than him.
because being apart brought out their worst qualities in themselves that they'd helped the other through, but it resurfaced.
when he'd gotten a good look at her, he realized she definitely wasn't the same girl she was months ago. he'd notice the dark circles under her eyes, half-lidded and puffy, begging for sleep. the oversized hoodie he left her, though surprisingly clean, was well-worn by her. through the baggy cloth, he could tell her physique was slimmer, he felt nauseous.
she couldn't stand the silence between them even when they lived the last months of their relationship filled with it. they were both hurting and they both knew it, but they'd assume the other would be the one to patch it up. that's where they messed up, they seem to do it a lot.
"so why now are you here?" she'd cut through the silence with a butter knife, sawing back and forth as she stumbled where she stood. she struggled to keep her balance, lack of energy will do that to you.
"I realized how much of an idiot I was," he stepped closer, bringing his hand to hers, pressing her fingers between his. he trailed the pads of his fingertips down her hand and to her wrist. he'd latch on, caressing the soft skin, he'd remember the feeling.
"but I was the one who broke you with you."
he didn't mean it like that, to insinuate that she was the idiot for breaking them up because in no way did he blame her. he put the blame all on him for not fighting for them.
" 'nd I was the one who left."
she stared up at him, her big eyes doing things to him, he shouldn't feel it in a moment like this, but he did. he just wanted her back, to feel her lips on his, her smooth skin under his soft but callused hands.
her lips parted when she'd realize the feeling of warmth against her face, his hand running along her jaw to her chin. though she was already looking up at him, he pushed her head up further, but so softly.
his voice was raspy and deep, pleading, "please, darlin'." she couldn't say no even if the voice inside her head and the feeling in her heart told her to.
"just don't leave again."
he could never, not after the misery he'd been through without her, blackout nights to forget everything that had led up to their break up. he couldn't imagine the anguish he put her through.
and at those words, he couldn't hold back anymore, his lips colliding with hers so desperately, like he needed her to survive. he kind of did. he tasted faintly of alcohol and fruit, she tasted like mint. her lips moved softly against his passionate kiss because he was acting like she was his oxygen, his water, his everything because she was.
his hand tangled in her hair, the sounds of their breaths between their lips, the heavy heat that surrounded the air as they separated.
"let's go somewhere," he'd suggest, his chest rising and falling more noticeably now.
her lips became a swollen pink as she looked up at him, dazed as her eyes flickered between his green eyes, "where?"
he shook his head, smiling. god, she missed that smile. he spoke so softly now, "anywhere, you pick. it'll jus' be us."
money didn't matter to him. if she wanted to travel to the moon and back, he'd make it happen because he wanted to make things right. he wanted to show her he was all in now because he would never take another step out ever again.
so they'd travel across the world. he'd rent out hotels, restaurants, amusement parks, anything she'd want. like max said, he wanted this between the two of them. no cameras, no fans, no public. just them enjoying their time together and alone at the most beautiful places she could think of.
she'd end up on an island with him, the only other people being the employees of the resorts he'd rent out. he did everything with her.
they went on yachts around the crystal waters and coral reefs surrounding the beaches that they'd later lay and tan on. they'd talk as they bathed in the sunlight. snorkeling while holding hands and pointing out various species that inhabited the waters.
candle-lit dinners sitting across from each other, though their hands never left each other. they'd been offered fancy wines, lando ultimately opting out. she understood. they tried the exotic foods and other virgin drinks the resort had to offer.
they had long runs along the beach, heavy makeout sessions on stranded towels where they couldn't take their hands off the other, deciding to take the trip back to their hut over the waters.
when they'd make it back, he wasted no time because he missed her, the feeling of her around him, the taste of her.
as soon as the hut door slammed shut, his veined hand would be pressured on her neck, pushing at the skin under his fingertips to pull her into his lips. he was desperate, she knew that.
his lips were harshly against hers, she could feel the vibrations of his groans against her flesh, feeling his working hands across her chest, having left her neck temporarily to undo her tied bikini top. it was discarded onto the wooden floors with no further regard. they'd separate, foreheads pushed together and their noses clashing as their breaths mixed in the middle.
his head dipped below her jaw, biting at the skin of her neck. whimpers left her lips and she felt his smirk on her skin while she grasped at his curls. he slowly pushed their bodies towards the open laid bed behind her, her calf's meeting the mattress. he tugged at the elastic of her beach shorts, though deciding to take his time, which made it all the more agonizing for her, she needed him.
his lips trailed her body, leaving trails of his saliva and marks where he nipped at her skin, from her neck down to her chest. he groped her tits, earning a low groan from her as his tongue swirled her areola. she tugged his hair, his curls between each of her fingers as she bit back the sounds that forced through her throat. he was starved of her, which only turned her on more. she felt the heat between her thighs.
he'd kneel on his knees in front of her as he'd continue to leave a string of dark hickeys down her skin as he'd continue to her stomach, and just above her panty line, pulling the elastic of her shorts down. she'd almost just rip them off because she couldn't take how slow he'd move compared to when they first ended up in this situation.
his finger wrapped around the band, slowly pulling the material over the curves of her body, but he'd left her panties, which infuriated her. he did it all while looking straight up into her eyes, the glint in his eyes filled of lust and mischief. he'd lift her leg with his hand wrapped around the back of her knee, helping her kick off the clothing.
he'd kiss the skin just above the side of her knee, his lips glued to her skin as they traveled higher up her thighs, as well as his hands, sliding under the side of her panties. his nose brushed against the cloth of her cunt, ghostly stimulating her clit. it provoked a reaction out of her as she whined, and he'd continue to kiss along the line of her undergarment.
he may have started off desperate, but now he was taking his sweet time to take care of her. she wanted to badly for him to just hurry it along, wanting to feel him, but he'd rather enjoy the moment he had with her, like it was his last.
he pushed aside the cloth barrier, licking his lips as he eyed the wet patch caused by him, his warm breath panned across her cunt and she pleaded, "lan, please." god, he loved to hear her beg, it was music to his ears, but her moans were a symphony.
his two fingers slowly parted her folds, feeling her pulse under him as she moaned against the contact, he 'tsk'd at her reaction, "so wet for me, darling." his voice was raspy, deep and she cursed under her breath as she watched him lick her off his fingers.
the taste of her brought him back, he'd savor it because he hadn't before, not when he didn't realize it could've been the last. she was sweet, her skin smelling of vanilla as his nose brushed against her.
he'd had enough teasing for now, and gently he'd pull down her panties. she'd be fully exposed, but he was still dressed, his clothes feeling tighter around his body, specifically his swim shorts.
he didn't care. he'd thrown one of her legs over his shoulder as he flattened his tongue across her, feeling the tremble in her standing leg. he'd bury his lips in her cunt, vigorously tasting her like he hadnt eaten in weeks. his tongue lapped at her heat and she let out strings of curses interrupted by moans as she'd tug him closer to her by his hair.
vibrations of his groans stimulated her clit as he softly nipped at the sensitive flesh. he'd lapped at her cunt for not long before it became overwhelming, her moans growing high and squeaked as her legs nearly buckled.
he kept going, looking up at her with massively dilated eyes, half-lidded and seductive. her jaw went slack as she stared into his eyes, she felt the crescendo of her high and she'd nearly scream out his name as she came on his tongue. he'd lick up any remaining juice of hers.
his tongue left one long trail over her cunt, pressuring on her sensitive before pulling away, a trail of saliva connecting to his mouth and her slick glistened on his lips and chins. she panted heavily, he watched the rise and fall of her chest, felt the shaking of her knees as they nearly gave out under her.
he'd smile up at her, his goofy grin greeted her after her hazed high calmed. she'd roll her eyes at his light-heartedness after she'd just came on his tongue.
but it was moments like those that'd bring back the spark of youth and naivety to their relationship. because it was what they'd needed all along. all they needed was each other.

touches
prompt — all the ways jason todd touches you / jason todd x reader
tags — some nsfw
A STORMY SEA AT BAY;
his fingers are harsh, and you wince when he grips at you like. that.he doesn't mean to hurt you, by god, no. he doesn't ever want to see you flinch. and as soon as you do, he stumbles back.
you realize what's happened. he's going to hate himself now. "jason, no—" you call out, reaching for him, but he stumbles back and runs into the darkness of the night where it'll shroud him. and in that night, he basks in his anger and self-loathing for a while before the boy in blue comes to calm him down. you sometimes wish you could, but he'd be too ashamed.
"i'm sorry," he mumbles when he's back in your arms. he holds you, tight, but not like when he was angry. there is a silver tear dancing on the edge of his eye but he never lets it drop. "i didn't mean to." and you know he doesn't so you hug him back and don't say a word.
EUPHORIA IN A SKY OF STARS;
he grips your thighs as tight as possible, and his face is buried between the valley of your thighs. he's letting out sighs of pleasure through quiet muffles as the only thing you can hear is the sound of your own whimpers and his comments—"fuck, pretty girl, you look so fuckin' good right now. give me another one, yeah?"
your thighs are shaking and you cannot even think properly, not when his eyes are hazy and he looks up at you like that. his fingers are digging so deep into your flesh that they draw out bruises, his tongue swirling around, and occasionally his teeth graze over your inner thighs. you forget that his helmet is to the side, that you're on a rooftop and anyone can appear in seconds and see you two like this. "best fuckin' thing i've tasted in my entire life," he croons, as he shoves two fingers in you.
SLEEPING IN AT SUNRISE;
his touches are gentle, soft. your hands run over the bruises he's collected from last night, and the blood that's dried on his hair or his head or back from last night's patrol and you worry about him. your fingers cup his jaw and you plant delicate butterfly kisses over his face in worry. "i worry about you, jay," you say when he whines at the touch but you know he adores it.
"i'm alive in one piece, aren't i?" he muffles as he flips over to the side so his back faces you. you pout and he knows you're pouting. he flips right back in a flash and he grabs you by the neck and pulls you close before pressing a kiss on your forehead and pushing. yourhead so it lies in the crook of his neck.
"i'm never leaving you," he murmurs, his eyes hooded and lazy. "it's gonna take everything in this universe and more for me to ever even think about not making it back to you." and those are just words, you know, but words have a lot of meaning.
I THINK ABOUT YOU EVEN IF I DON'T KNOW IT;
"so that's what i said to him that other day!" that blonde girl laughs, brushing her arm against jason. jason just nods at her, doesn't even mean to say anything ot her and just keeps his blank face. you've been scowling at her for the past five minutes, and for the past four minutes, she's pretended like you don't exist.
jason looks down at where she's touched him and then shrugs. "i have to go get a drink," he says blankly, his face neutral. the both of you turn around in near perfect sync and start walking down together. jason grits his teeth in anger, thinking about something else (maybe how that blonde girl has been treating you), and takes your hand and squeezes it. he squeezes it so hard it hurts a bit.
"jason," you wince, looking at your red hand. it's cutting off blood. he looks down at your hand in surprise and then his eyes widen for a few seconds before letting it go.
"i'm so sorry, i didn't know i was holding your hand, and with that grip—" you shush him peacefully.
RED IS JASON TODD'S COLOR
"fuck," jason snarls as he pushes you against the wall. there's something in his eyes. jealousy. red is always jason's best color to wear, you've known that for sure. his hand wraps around your throat and he kisses you hard.
"you liked making me jealous, didn't you?" he challenges, raising an eyebrow. there's a glimmer in his eyes as his lips bite down on your neck so hard that there's a faint sliver of blood. you let out a yelp. "seeing me all riled up for a guy whose cock is probably the tiniest fuckin' thing you've ever seen. tell me, did you like me jealous of a guy who can't even please you the way you know i can?"
you open your mouth to answer, but he clamps his hand. over before ou can speak. "don't even fucking answer," he snarls, before ripping your jeans off from your body. you didn't even know anybody could do that. "i'm about to teach you what the right answer is."

how about a little blurb about roan asking reader to straighten her hair and eddie is devastated because someone said something mean to roan about her hair so reader does the dressing gown curls and comes down to the kitchen table for breakfast with hair like roans? 😭
cw this blurb might imply that the reader doesn't have curly hair but hopefully it is ambiguous, like maybe r has a different curl pattern
"What are you doing?" Eddie whispers, face smushed into a pillow. You must've woken him fidgeting with your last pin.
He went to bed early with a headache. You think that it might've been because of the afternoon's events. Poor Ro was being teased at school again for her lovely hair, and Eddie can't stand it, but worse was the face he made when Roan asked if you could straighten it out.
That was not cool. Far from Roan's fault, of course, and gutting.
"Nothing," you whisper, hoping you can tide him back to sleep with some affection, "gimme two seconds, angel, I'm just moisturising."
You're lying. You pin the last rag in place and turn off the light by the mirror before he can investigate the authenticity of what you'd claimed, sliding into bed behind him to hold his waist and press your face to his hot shoulder. He relaxes into your touch. You're not sure who nods off first.
In the morning, he seems to have benefited from being the little spoon; he's singing downstairs while Roan giggles, his mood lightened, his voice high-pitched as he soars up to an octave you didn't know he could reach. You set about pulling the pins and rags from your hair, and brush the resulting curls out very gently. You look pretty, because you look exactly like Roan does after she gets her hair done properly, your hair in curls that are nearly ringlet in form, winding loose toward the scalp and tighter at the ends.
You get dressed for work and make your way downstairs.
"How much toast? One or two?" Eddie's asking.
"I want two, please," Roan says, leaning back in her chair, the pillows slipping beneath her.
Eddie obeys her asking and pops the toaster down with two pieces of bread, and then he turns to you and the easy smile on his face stutters. "Oh."
"Do you like it?" you ask, bringing your hands to your chest with pride, elbows out as you turn one way and the other. "Aren't they pretty?"
"You look beautiful," he agrees immediately, the impulse of a man who's about to get married saying what his future wife tells him to, but then softer is his genuine agreement, "you look really, really stellar. Doesn't she, Ro?"
Roan wraps her arms around the back of her chair, cheek squished to the side. "Your hair is like mine."
"You're lucky," you say, pulling one of the curls behind your ear. You do feel pretty. "It took me ages last night to get it ready and put all of the pins in my hair, but you wake up with your beautiful hair like that every day."
Roan's voice is chest-achingly hopeful, "You think so?"
"I love it."
You twist one way and another to drive the message home for her. Eddie scratches a thin layer of butter and strawberry jelly over Roan's toast and puts it in front of her, a quarter piece miraculously missing.
She squints at him.
"You have such nice hair," he says eventually through a full mouth.
You lean over the back of her chair to kiss her cheek and swipe your own quarter piece of toast. "He's right, even if he has no manners."
She giggles and makes herself a little toast sandwich. Her fingers and eyes stay focused on the task at hand, but she says, "Thanks, mommy," quietly and sweetly.
"You're welcome, my little toast monster. How did you eat that much already? You're impressive."
Eddie sidles up to give you a grateful hug from the side, his hands joining over your shoulder as he encourages your face toward his. You lean away from his smacking strawberry scented kiss, but you cover his hands so he can't leave too quickly afterwards.

Chapter 1: Sunset
As soon as the sun rose, Leon was already awake, it's not as if he'd managed to sleep through the night in any case, he was too anxious for that. That morning you would arrive at the castle, and consequently start living here. It was a big step, certainly, but it was more than necessary, especially as the wedding approached.
He himself couldn't believe that he was getting married in the next few days, it had all happened so quickly that he hadn't even had time to think about it properly. Just like that, his life was turned upside down, a pang in his heart every time he thought about it. Every time he thought that he was being forced to marry a stranger, someone he didn't have a shred of affection for.
All these thoughts disappeared once there was a knock on his door, causing him to push down his sheets and start getting ready for the day.
"Your Highness, your father wants to speak to you." The familiar voice of his butler, Ausdret.
Leon lets out a tired sigh, only muttering a small, "I'll be there."
He knows what his father wants to talk to him about, to reinforce his duty once again, to remind him about the dynasty.
There was no escape, and that was all that was on his mind as he got ready. He took longer than necessary, on purpose, just not to leave his bedroom now.
After he'd finally finished, he went to look in the mirror, just to make sure he was properly dressed and polished, after all it was supposed to be a big day. But his eyes stopped wandering over his face, and hovered on a lipstick mark on the collar of his shirt, enough to bring a small smile to his face, eyes sparkling with the memory of his beloved, his only one.
Knowing he would have to hide it, he took one last look before tucking the collar back into place. Making sure no one else could see.
As soon as he left his room, his butler was waiting for him outside, making several attempts at small talk, which Leon wasn't interested in, though. His mind was far away, as if he had never been here in the first place.
Once he arrived in his father's chamber, he was greeted with a big smile, which was not reciprocated by Leon. Only a small nod came from him.
"So everything's settled?" A small whisper, a question that Leon already knew the answer to.
His father proudly replied, "Yes, I've already arranged everything with Vladimir. You and she are getting married in the next few days." His father speaks, looking at the other man in the room, Duke Vladimir, his father's best friend.
However, Leon didn't seem at all excited about the situation, in fact, he seemed rather upset.
"This will be great, we'll finally be able to expand our business." This sentence came from Leon's father, who was more than happy with the pact.
It was a long-standing interest of the king, of course, who wouldn't want to expand their business with one of the richest royal families?
But on the other hand, Leon had other plans. Plans that were not accepted by his father.
"Cheer up, the girl is a beautiful princess, very kind from what I've seen. I'm sure you'll get on well." Vladimir says, trying to console Leon, but frankly, it only seems to have gotten worse.
"How long do we have to stay in this marriage?" Perhaps he was still hoping it would only be for a short time.
"Indefinitely. They will be the source of our success, especially the princess. We need to collaborate with them, just as they collaborate with us." The king says, somewhat obviously, that he won't be breaking the contract any time soon.
"If you'll excuse me, I'll talk to the other servants. We need to organize the wedding invitations." Vladimir says as he leaves, just after bowing to the two members of royalty in the room.
Silence followed, Leon too upset with his father to speak a single word, while the king was daydreaming.
An ambitious king who would slowly make his reign the most prosperous in history, he couldn't ask for more. This would make everything perfect for Leon to take the throne and make the nation of Italy even prouder.
"I don't know how far your greed will go." A plausible complaint coming from Leon, directly confronting his father.
"I only want what's best for you and, consequently, for my nation." They both knew where this conversation was going, but since they were both hard-headed, they would continue anyway.
"What's best for me? You've arranged a marriage with a stranger and you think that's what's best for me?" By now, Leon's voice had changed considerably.
King Leonardo didn't like arguing, least of all with his own son. However, he would never tolerate his disobedience, never.
"And what would be better for you? Marry a paltry lady? Honestly, you need to think bigger." And the king hit the nail on the head, because that's exactly what Leon was getting at.
Ashley did come from an affluent family, but she wasn't as rich as the British family. Which in this case was yours.
"Don't you dare talk about her like that." Leon was once again affronting his father, which would certainly have serious consequences.
"Listen, if you want to continue your affair with this so-called Ashley, go ahead, I won't stop you. Now don't expect me to let you ruin your own future, too."
The two of them looked at each other not very kindly, especially Leon.
It seemed like he was being generous. What's the point? Living a life on the sly with the woman he loved? It didn't seem fair. It wasn't fair.
"You still have a lot to learn, my son." The king spoke with a certain heavy heart, and at the same time a jaw-dropping arrogance.
But how could Leon calm down? He didn't even know the woman he was going to marry and, even worse, he couldn't commit to the person he loved, Ashley.
But what irritated him even more was the fact that he knew it was all his father's whim.
But even this marriage wouldn't stop the prince from having a relationship with this woman, even if it meant an extramarital affair. And Leon didn't care if that had consequences, not even for his future wife.
"All I ask is that you don't complicate things. I'm still being kind enough to allow you to have these affairs, whether with Ashley or any other woman." That would even sound gentle if he wasn't talking about extramarital affairs.
"... Alright, Father." Once again, Leon swallowed his pride and let it happen. But then again, it's not as if he could do anything against his father's wishes.
Leon stormed out of his father's chamber, strong, heavy footsteps echoing down the so far empty corridor, and he didn't even look back. His mind was in the purest of shambles, fists clenched and an expression that wasn't the friendliest.
As he walked quickly through the corridors, he couldn't help but notice the commotion outside, expensive carriages arriving in the castle courtyard, making room for butlers to work and remove whatever was inside.
He imagined it was the arrangements for the marriage, since it would take place in the next few weeks. So it wasn't anything that caught his attention for long.
However, as soon as he looked up from the mezzanine, he saw the familiar figure, it was you. Wearing a simple blue dress, delicate gloves that covered up to your forearms, and of course, he couldn't forget your soft features.
As soon as you saw him from the hall, you gave him a discreet smile, making him let out the breath he didn't even know he was holding. Even for a brief second, his expression softened, but that didn't make him any less upset by the whole situation.
Queen Sarah spoke to you politely, saying how grateful she was for the courteous company of the princess, who was in fact being awaited by the other residents of the castle, at least most of them.
In fact, the queen felt lonely, since apart from the governesses, she had no other female companion to talk to during the day.
Slowly, Leon descended the grand staircase, stepping onto the red carpet, his steps light and slow, as if he were analyzing what he would do next.
Your eyes met his, and you smiled gently, bowing to him as you should. And he reciprocated, of course.
"Princess." He said, giving a nod to his mother, who politely curtsied to you.
"I'll get your bedroom ready." She says, her voice sweet and calm, as she moves gracefully through the castle.
You felt a shiver run up your spine at the thought that you were about to share a room with him. Since you weren't married yet, you were just going to sleep next to each other, a door that could be opened to connect one room to the other, since couples who hadn't made a commitment weren't supposed to sleep together until they were married.
"You have a beautiful home, prince." You murmur, the sweet smile always on your lips.
He chuckles a little, offering you his arm to hold, "Let me introduce you to the castle itself."
You smile, taking his arm and letting him lead you, obviously he was only doing it out of politeness, but you'd love to spend a little more time with him.
When your covered fingers curled around his arm, you couldn't help but feel the muscles that flexed with every slight movement, without any effort. Just as you couldn't help but notice his eyes every time he looked at you and explained something, the way his voice echoed through the empty corridors.
You walked side by side, your footsteps echoing through the unoccupied hallways, giving off a calm and intimate atmosphere somehow. You noticed the paintings, the properly placed decorations.
Even the curtains matched the carpets, as much as you were used to this sort of thing, it was still breathtaking to see such a sophisticated place.
You felt that despite your enchantment with the prince, you could see his lack of enthusiasm for you, you could see that it sounded more like a duty than anything else.
What did you expect? That it would be a fairy tale? In this life you were leading, the heart didn't always follow the rules of fairy tales.
"Let me take you to the courtyard, it's a nice day." You notice the sigh at the end of the sentence, as well as the distance he kept.
Even with all his explanations, all the talk about royal life, homework, the explanations for every painting in the corridor, you didn't pay much attention. Your attention was focused completely on him, perhaps because you were hoping for a hint of feeling, whatever that was.
Too bad you wouldn't find it even if you looked hard enough.
As soon as you left the large building, you were presented with a landscape that looked more like a hand-painted picture.
The courtyard was perfect, full of roses and other types of flowers, a wooded area, the grass all at the same length, without a single flaw. Meticulously cut bushes, flowers that adorned the greenery and gave it extra life, it seemed magical.
The afternoon sun shone down on the whole place, bringing everything to life. The birds humming and bathing in the water fountain, nature stretching as far as the eye could see.
"I hope you are pleased, princess." Leon says, his calm, velvety voice immediately making you look at him.
"Certainly, it's very well appreciated." With a sweet, polite smile you answered him, approaching the fountain and sitting down on one of the edges.
And he repeated the gesture, sitting down next to you.
Just as you were about to engage him in conversation, a strong wind whipped against you, causing your hair to tangle, the softly combed strands to fall into your face, undoing a good few minutes' work in an instant.
Then you felt a warm, robust hand on your cheek, brushing the strands behind your ear.
A gesture that was intimate, no doubt about it, and that was able to make you blush slightly as soon as you felt his hand graze your cheek, but which he pulled away.
"Thank you." You say with a gentle, shy smile, tidying up a few more of the strands that were still getting messy.
Despite his smile, you could see the piercing blue gaze, without much emotion. His gaze, which seemed to be as cold as ice, was still so attractive.
"My pleasure, princess." The warm tone didn't change his placid expression, not even if he tried very hard.
As the two of you stood in silence, all you could hear was the gentle breeze and the birds singing, everything seemed so peaceful.
Except for the restlessness of your heart, which stubbornly pounded every time he looked at you. And you mentally plagued yourself every time this happened.
Why was he doing that? Out of courtesy? Politeness? Decorum? Or were you thinking too much? Creating too many expectations?
And so you remained, gazing at the horizon and watching the sun slowly set, watching the magic of nature while your minds were in a whirl.
Your hand on the edge of the fountain, as well as his, fingers almost grazing each other, and you were tempted to make a move.
However, it would have been inappropriate for a lady, to say the least. Especially knowing that the chances of him taking your hand away were high.
So you'd better make the most of what you had.
As the garden began to darken a little and the sunlight slowly faded, Leon stood and looked around, seeing that it was already getting dark.
You've spent the whole day walking around the castle, so time has passed too quickly. At least for you.
"We should go, dinner should be ready by now." He was the first to break the silence, once again offering his arm and his company to take you to the dining area.
And there you went again, walking slowly through the courtyard back into the castle.
However, halfway there Leon stopped, picking up a red rose that had fallen to the ground. As soon as he knelt down to pick it up, he turned to you and planted a soft kiss on the back of your hand, his warm lips brushing against your gloved hand. It sent shivers through your body.
"Red looks good on you." He murmurs, placing the flower in your hair, very gently so as not to mess it up.
You made a little chuckle, the blush clear on your cheeks. Was he doing it out of politeness? Or just to keep up appearances?
It would have been a beautiful, subtle, gentle and even romantic gesture. That's if you hadn't noticed the lipstick staining the collar of his shirt.
Oh oh, poor you.
