The Emotional Reticence of Holmes and Watson

Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, two shy Victorian men, maneuver their vulnerable feelings of affection for one another in an expertly flawed and human manner crafted by Arthur Conan Doyle. First and foremost, I am examining their use of "my dear Watson" (91 times in the canon) and "my dear Holmes" (14 times).

The first time Holmes ever uses "my dear Watson" in the canon, it's actually in a rather sarcastic tone.

"What is your theory, then, as to those footmarks?" I asked, eagerly, when we had regained the lower room once more. "My dear Watson, try a little analysis yourself," said he, with a touch of impatience. "You know my methods. Apply them, and it will be instructive to compare results." (SIGN)

Note: for The Great Game, this absolutely isn't the first time Holmes has used this phrase, but from the narrative perspective, it is absolutely the first time Conan Doyle put this phrase to paper, which is more relevant to this examination.

Holmes uses this phrase with a touch of exasperation, which even in itself holds some love within it as he encourages his friend to utilise his own beloved methods. And even in this first instance, while Holmes's tone indicates some displeasure, the personal address ensures that it isn't a genuine blow. But the intimacy of "my dear" is quite daunting, isn't it? so Holmes utilises the veil of sarcasm to break the barrier, in the spirit of "look, I've said it now. Now I may go and say it as much as I want."

Oh, and he does. The frequency of 'my dear Watson' slowly builds through the canon and peaks through FINA, HOUN and EMPT. It isn't surprising, considering they hold some of the most critical points in their relationship.

• "My dear Watson, you were born to be a man of action." (HOUN) • "Not for the world, my dear Watson. I am perfectly satisfied with your company if you will tolerate mine." (HOUN) • "Then these are your instructions, and I beg, my dear Watson, that you will obey them to the letter." (FINA) • "My dear Watson, I owe you a thousand apologies. I had no idea that you would be so affected." (EMPT)

It is evident, that it is after this barrier is broken in SIGN, that Holmes feels comfortable to use this address in such a sincere manner. In fact, it is apparent that it is in particularly emotional circumstances that Holmes is more likely to call for Watson through any means at all.

So, how about Watson?

His use of "my dear Holmes" is almost exclusively out of shock or surprise whenever his 'Johnson' claims anything particularly outré. Again, while Watson is in disbelief, and most probably doubtful of Holmes's claims, the personal address softens this blow to say that no real harm is done between them.

• "My dear Holmes," said I, "this is too much." (SCAN) • "My dear Holmes!" "Oh, yes, I did." (SPEC)

The first real instance of Watson using this phrase sincerely is in FINA.

"You are afraid of something?" I asked. "Well, I am." "Of what?" "Of air-guns." "My dear Holmes, what do you mean?"

Holmes is acting more than out of the ordinary to put Watson in some kind of concern and this question comes no doubt more from worry than simple surprise. He even asks again, "but what does it all mean?" which highlights his wish to be by Holmes's side, even in danger.

The first and only instance of a good-hearted affectionate address comes to Holmes in HOUN. However, interestingly, it is only through the written word, in Watson's letters to Holmes from Dartmoor.

• Congratulate me, my dear Holmes, and tell me that I have not disappointed you as an agent. • Such are the adventures of last night, and you must acknowledge, my dear Holmes, that I have done you very well in the matter of a report.

Watson's method of breaking the barrier is to send it remotely through his pen, which is, after all, much less daunting than saying it directly. It is absolutely worth noting that Watson has also used this language when specifically wishing for praise - it shows us that he feels the closest to Holmes when he is able to follow his own methods.

Conan Doyle shows us the ways insecurities and pressures can collaborate with our most earnest and deepest affections. Holmes and Watson aren't perfect beings, but navigate through their web of reticence and inner desires to find an unspoken but profound dialogue between them.

Whether you ship them romantically or platonically, Shen Jiu x Yue Qi has to be one of the most tragic couples I have ever come across, not just because of their circumstances, but who they are as people.

Shen Jiu shields himself in cruelty and refuses to allow himself to be vulnerable to anyone, even to those he has cared about. He convinces everyone he is a monster, he was able to convince me he was a monster with a single line in the story (we'll get back to that)

Yue Qi refuses to tell Shen Jiu the truth of why he never came for him. He is afraid of confronting his failure because, even if Shen Jiu hates him, he is still there, and Yue Qi rather be hated than to lose his Xiao-Jiu again.

In two timelines they failed to find happiness. In one, they both die horribly, in the other, one dies while the other is unaware of what he lost.

I love MXTX's writing, and there is a part of the Yue Qi and Shen Jiu extra that I absolutely loved. After Shen Jiu reunites with Yue Qi and believes the man had abandoned him, he wishes that he found him dead on the side of the road instead. This line made me hate Shen Jiu a bit, and it's probably his cruelest line in the book, but it's also a lie, something you don't realize until the end of the extra. Luo Binghe tortures his master for who knows how long, but he isn't able to get him to break until he reveals that Yue Qingyuan was dead. I do believe that the break is partly caused by the fact that Yue Qi came for him, something he thought would never happen, but I believe this scene is supposed to show the truth, that Shen Jiu never wanted his Qi-ge dead, even at his angriest, because no matter what he thinks, seeing him dead on the side of the road would break him more than the abandonment ever did.

He almost hated you.

No, that was wrong. That was so wrong because he absolutely adored you. Every part of you. The parts that you showed everyone and the parts that you only showed him. He loved them all.

No, what he hated was the way you could muddle him down into absolute putty in your hands and you knew it.

You didn't even have to properly touch him and you had him craving your touch. He just wanted to please you. Anything to keep you here, with him. He knew you understood that he was deeply afraid of you leaving him, of being another person to view him as the Swordsman and nothing more. And perhaps that was what made it so tantalizing, having you so close.

It was like dancing the Razor's edge, letting you in the way he did.

You had seen every part of him. The brave face he showed the world, the angry and versatile side of him that demanded blood be shed for the wrongs he faced, the upset and downright terrified side of him that was more scared of vulnerability than any form Ganon could ever take.

You had heard the angry words he spat out about Zelda, that traitor, and Hylia, The absolute Fraud, and how he despised them both because of the life they put him through. The Destiny thrust upon him the second he could hold a sword.

You had experienced the screaming nightmares that would drag him to the waking world, hushing him and gently bringing him back with gentle fingers brushing back his hair as your hums grounded him once more.

In the very least, he figured it was what you deserved. You deserved the parts of him that cracked and shook under your touch, threatening to break with one wrong move. You deserved the parts of him that did nothing but rage and rage and rage some more, burning with the fiery rage of a thousand suns. You deserved the parts of him that allowed him to truly appreciate the beauty that you showcased him on a daily basis.

While you didn't deserve the consequences of each of those, you did deserve the right to know about them and make your own decisions about what you did and did not deserve.

That wouldn't stop him from keeping you all to himself however.

But that would allow him to open himself to possibilities he wouldn't have previously considered.

For instance, currently. He was tied up in an intricate pattern that kept his arms pinned to his sides and his chest bare and exposed to you. The rope was rough against his skin, but gave a delicious little shock of a burn every time he moved against it. It was a direct contrast to the cooler tips of your fingers that pressed upon the open sections, indenting his skin with your perfect fingertips. Everything about this left him open. Vulnerable. And he just let you do it to him.

It was infuriating.

You were moving slowly (Too slowly), savoring every inch of him that he allowed to stay on display. You knew this was a rare instance. And you were making sure he knew you knew it as well.

He snarled, letting his canines show. "You're testing my patience."

"Oh, boo hoo. You'll get over it." You shot back, fingers curling around one of the loops of the rope. You tugged harshly, laying your forehead on his in a challenge of whatever power he felt he had in the situation. He bristled in your grasp.

You smirked when he said nothing, moving to straddle his hips at long last. He bit his lip when you gently sunk down, grinding along him in a small slow motion. He knew what you wanted.

He would not give it to you.

"Goddess, you're a minx." He growled lowly, throwing his head back so his bangs fell from his eyes. He needed a moment to think. To breath. To recenter himself.

If only you would give it to him.

Your hips picked up a steady tempo, which would've been fine on it's own. but that would've been too merciful. No, your lips, sinful and laced with poison, latched onto the column of his neck, sucking your own claim onto his skin. Teeth dragged thin red lines from one destination to the next.

He would not give it to you.

A little more weight was added to the roll of your hips as your hands lowered to his pecs. An immediate reaction was a slight jump, which made your lips upturn against his neck, but he otherwise remained statue still.

He would NOT give it to you.

Your thumbs in a weird contrast of the coolness of the room and the warmth of your own body weight gently, oh so gently, brushed against his pecs, following the curve of his body before stopping a mere hairs length from your prize.

He wouldn't. He wouldn't. He wouldn't. He wouldn'thewouldn'thewouldn'thewouldn't-

You brushed your thumbs along his perked nipples, matching in time with a harsher roll of your hips.

It bubbled in his gut, clawing it's way up his throat and out his mouth before he could stop it. The most, positively filthy, whimper left his lips as his hips bucked to meet yours. His ears pinned to his head as his shoulders curled inward, head falling to land on one of your shoulders.

He had lost.

And you knew it.

He hated the way you could muddle him into pure putty.

But he knew you loved it.

He was undecided if that was enough to make this humiliation worth it.

Another brush of your ungodly thumbs was not helping.

he is surprisingly (or not surprisingly) really touchy. always has his hands on you, whether he’s rubbing circles into your skin or has an arm sling around your shoulder. it provides him a lot of comfort and makes him feel like he’s connected with you. he also is into quality time and enjoying the moment with you.

𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐘, what does he find the most beautiful about you?

he adores your smile and your laugh. you’re the sun to his moon, he reflects off of your light. even small little grins from you keeps him going. sometimes he’ll cup your jaw and pinch your cheeks together to watch you giggle and squirm, his eyes softening at the sight.

𝐂𝐔𝐃𝐃𝐋𝐄𝐒, how cuddly is he? how does he cuddle with you?

he likes to act like he’s not super cuddly, but the truth is he loves it. anytime you two cuddle he feels like he’s recharging. he usually falls asleep, with you either snug on his lap while he hugs you or he spoons you.

𝐃𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂, what is domestic life like with him?

it’s nice, but he’s constantly looking to tease or mess with you, it’s just in his blood he can’t help it. if you’re both doing your own thing and pass each other he’ll smack your butt and walk away like nothing happened, whisper something dirty in your ear, or he’ll suddenly grab you by the jaw and kiss you. if he notices you getting used to it he’ll stop for a while so when he does it again it fluster and catches you off guard.

𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍, how vulnerable with his emotions is he with you?

he doesn’t necessarily show his vulnerability through telling you, but through actions. the fact that he has let you in so close to see the real side of him is vulnerable in itself. sometimes he’ll reveal things about him through stories about himself if you ask, but doesn’t usually outright say it. i think the more you know him the more you can read into how he’s feeling. every once in a while if you’re both in a vulnerable and private setting he might let a few gushy words slip.

𝐅𝐀𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐘, does he want a family with you in the future?

It’s not the first thing on his mind, but if you want one with him he’s not against it. it’s not that he doesn’t want one, it’s more like his own thoughts on it are holding him back. his mom did the best she could, but he’s afraid of not being a good dad and his kids ending up like he was in high school. It just takes a lot of reassurance on your end.

𝐆𝐈𝐅𝐓𝐒, is he a gift giver? what kind of gifts does he give to you?

he’s not so much a gift giver as much as he is an acts of service and physical touch guy. It’s not like he doesn’t care enough or want to give you gifts, it’s just that’s not his love language. he’s really appreciative if you’re the type to give gifts, and will make an effort to put a lot of thought get you something special on holidays or gift-giving occasions.

𝐇𝐔𝐆𝐒, what is hugging him like?

he gives you a lot of hugs from behind. he’ll rest his chin on your head and sometimes will slowly begin to rest his full weight on you so you have to hold him up. thinks it’s really funny when you slowly panic and complain when he does it. he’ll also tug you onto his lap and hold you there. he’s fallen asleep that way, his head dropping and using your shoulder as a pillow.

𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒, what is he insecure about in your relationship?

there’s a bit of insecurity in himself deep down from when he was younger. he’s grown a lot since then, but sometimes he still has those thoughts. he thinks that you can do a lot better than him, and is scared you’re eventually going to find someone else and choose them over him.

𝐉𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐒𝐘, how jealous does he get?

because of that fear, sometimes he’ll get pretty jealous over you if someone tries to get too close or buddy-buddy with you. he’s not the type of guy to get super possessive and toxic about your own friends, but if he can tell someone is interested in you as more than friends it rubs him the wrong way. he will hide it well, but you’ll notice he goes really quiet. he clenches his jaw and fists, but won’t say anything. instead, he holds you close to him and stares down the other pursuer.

𝐊𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆, what is kissing him like?

The type to totally fluster you and catch you off guard with them. sometimes he likes to walk up behind you and lift your chin with one hand to sneak a kiss on your lips. if you shy away he just resorts to kissing your cheek or neck with a smug smirk on his face. other times he tugs you to him by grabbing the back of your neck (never hard or forceful) and starts making out with you for no apparent reason.

𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄, who said “i love you” first?

i think you’d have to be the one to say it first. he is good at making it apparent how he feels, don’t get him wrong. you can tell just from the way he looks at you and how he treats you. it’s just hard for him to get those words out first. he’s uncharacteristically nervous about it, and is secretly really relieved that you were the first to cross that line in your relationship.

𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐓, who gets shy or weak in the knees more?

it’s almost impossible to fluster him, so good luck. Any time you try, he finds a way to completely turn it back on you and leave you a melted mess.

𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄, does he use any pet names for you?

he’d use baby the most. also will say some pet names in a certain tone to either fluster or tease you. kitty, doll, dearest, and lovely are some other ones he uses every once in a while. sometimes he refers to you as “mi corazón” if he’s feeling sweet and loving.

𝐎𝐁𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐒, what are some issues you have in your relationship? how does he handle it?

sometimes if you two are going through a rough patch in life, you can get in a lot of arguments and will sometimes pick up old habits like drinking or smoking. he absolutely hates upsetting you or letting you down though, so that alone is enough to snap him out of it and step up as a man. doesn’t want to end up as some deadbeat, and that’s enough to motivate himself to work things out with you.

𝐏𝐃𝐀, how does he express his love in public?

he always has his arm around your shoulders, tucking you into his side. you fit perfectly snug and comfortable because he’s really tall, so you click right to him like a puzzle piece. isn’t the type to make out with you in front of everyone, but sneaks a few kisses and will teasingly sneak a hand to squeeze your hip or waist. he won’t ever do it in a way that embarrasses you or makes you uncomfortable, he just really can’t keep his hands off of you.

𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄, how do you spend your time together?

he really loves going night owl activities with you. watching movies, stargazing, going for a night walk, going for a drive, he just loves those quiet moments with you. if you get sleepy easily or are more of a morning person, he’s fine with it. he still enjoys the movie or car ride, and will glance over at your sleeping face with a little grin. if you’re still too sleepy he’ll just carry you back to bed.

𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆, what are his plans for the future?

your first impression of probably wouldn’t make it easy for you to imagine him as a committed married man. he has a small fear of attachment due to what happened with his own parents, but once he gets attached to you he’s not letting you escape go. at that point he already kind of sees you as his wife, so if you hint at it he’s like oh yeah we aren’t officially married i guess we should do that. it’s not that he doesn’t take marriage seriously it’s just that he seriously already considers you two committed and married.

𝐒𝐄𝐂𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐒, how open is he? does he keep anything from you?

sometimes he feels ashamed of how he used to act and think when he was younger, so when memories or feelings from that time come up, he might become a little closed off to you. if you insist he opens up he might indulge you a little, but still doesn’t like talking about it. he really just needs reassurance and loving.

𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄, how long did it take for you two to get together?

if you two met in high school, you probably didn’t start dating until after you guys graduated. he honestly just isn’t in the right headspace at the time and has a lot of maturing to do before you get into a stable relationship. if you do date him in high school, i could see you splitting and then getting back together after meeting him again after he has a lot of character development.

𝐔𝐏𝐒𝐄𝐓, what makes him upset?

seeing you going through a tough time bothers him, not because of you, but because he remembers how he always handled his emotions alone. if you’re even slightly tempted to try drinking or smoking to numb it he steers you far away from resorting to that. he’ll take you somewhere quiet and calm or will take you on a night drive to help you clear your head. understands if you don’t want to talk about it because he has trouble with it too, but he’s been through a lot himself so he can see where you’re coming from. he’s good at providing comfort while not trying to solve all of your problems.

𝐕𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐓𝐘, does he do anything to spice up your relationship?

you two spend a lot of time relaxing together, but i think he would be the type of guy to go urban exploring with you. loves the thrill of finding abandoned places and the spooky atmosphere (once an edgy kid always an edgy kid). if you’re scared he teases you, but also makes sure you really do feel safe with him. he’d never put you in danger and if a place doesn’t feel right he’s immediately taking you out of the situation.

𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐒, how good is he at communicating?

surprisingly, he’s really good at communicating. sometimes it takes him a bit to find the words he wants to say. when you keep your true feelings to yourself for a long time, it’s really hard to talk about it even if he wants to tell you. he learned the hard way from personal experience that bottling up all of your thoughts and hiding behind a tough mask isn’t healthy and only hurts yourself and the people who really care about you.

𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐀, something random

halloween and fall time is so fun with him. so many horror movie nights, halloween festivals, pumpkin carving dates, etc. if you’re the type to get scared easily, he loves for you to cling to him. makes it up to you for subjecting you to all of the scares by cuddling with you and whispering about how he’d easily fight off any monster or killer without a sweat.

𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆, what are they like when you’re gone?

misses you more than he lets on. once he’s let you in, he grows really attached to you. you may think he was super chill about being apart from you, but the way he hugs you and cuddles you when you reunite is telling of how he really felt.

𝐙𝐙𝐙..., how do you two sleep? when you’re apart?

usually falls asleep with you on his arm and tucked under his chin, with you both facing each other. you usually fall asleep first, and he’ll admire you while gently tracing your features with his finger. at some point he wakes up with a numb arm, but it’s worth it to him. when that happens he slides a pillow between his arm and your head so he doesn’t have to move from you. he tosses and turns at night when you’re gone, he just got so used to feeling you all warm and snuggled next to him.

Book 7 Chapter 3

***SPOILERS AHEAD FOR BOOK 7 CHAPTER 3 AHEAD!!***

...I'm not even sure where to begin with chapter 3...

I'm still reeling from the way they ended the previous chapter

We start off seeing Idia sleeping, but Idia dreaming about Ortho being alive, Idia having more confidence, and being unable to be afraid to speak to other students.

....and then Malleus's mysterious timing, him being super perceptive about Idia possibly waking up from his dream. I WAS REELING LIKE MALLEUS!!

YOU REALLY TURNED INTO A FULL FLEDGE VILLAIN!!

Also side note, was anybody else like me losing their minds during the entrance ceremony?! Just seeing everyone interacting like it's totally normal EVEN THO THEY AREN'T REAL?!

SEEING THESE TWO, I HAD TO STOP AND SOB MY EYES OUT LIKE WHY MALLEUS I WANT TO SEE MY BEST FRIENDS SAFE AND SOUND!!

MALLEUS MALLEUS MALLEUS MALLEUS I WANT TO SEE EVERYONE I LOVE YOU, BUT I WANT TO SEE EVERYONE ESPECIALLY THESE TWO LITTLE SHITS I LOVE SO MUCH

So, of course I'm curious as to where we were, and when they showed Mickey's room I HOLLERED, HOT DIGGITY DOG, AND SCREAMED LIKE A PSYCHOPATH

MICKEY MOUSE!? WE FINALLY MEET IN PERSON!? AND WITH MY HAIRY BABY BOI GRIM!?!? I WAS FLABBERGASTED!

LOOK AT THIS! LOOK AT IT!!

I NEVER IMAGINED THIS DAY WOULD COME, BUT THIS DUO TOGETHER IS SO FREAKIN CUTE!!!

But as I'm watching this happen, I realize Malleus intentionally cut us out of the picture, out of everyone's reality, because he experienced many different emotions but yet was vulnerable around us since we don’t see him in a terrifying way while also appreciating life because of meeting us and getting to know the others at NRC…

The one thing that really really, REALLY concerns me is this reference from Mickey

.......Something is going to happen to Ace and Deuce, right? And it won't be a good thing considering the cards are covered in ink...

I have a small suspicion (and hope pls don't judge me) that we get to see other overblot forms. Like potentially Ace and Deuce, but the thought of that IS NOT OKAY I DON'T WANT ANY HARM TO HAPPEN TO THEM!

And as we're about to get attacked by these blot monsters, Silver just coming to save us was amazing! Whoever does the VO for Silver is so damn good

I'm not used to seeing Silver show so many emotions, but he could be the perfect definition of a night in shining armor.

AND WE LEARNED SILVER'S UNIQUE MAGIC AND ITS SO COL!

So we only have Ace, Lilia, Sebek and potentially Grim (also maybe Ortho but I'm not too sure on that) that haven't gotten or revealed their unique magic.

Aaaa honestly I think of Hawks burying his head in a chest soo much 😮‍💨❤️ I think he would love to use them as a pillow, listening to your heartbeat after long day of work while you caress his hair. It's sooo relaxing to him, having you close and hearing with his own ears that you're in fact here safe and sound, with a beautiful beating heart.

He's the type to just trap you under him, spreading his wings over your body. Aaaaa the hands holding to you tight like he's afraid you would dissappear if he let go. You were one of the only ones he had in his life afterall. Like someone who truly saw him as he was, with all sides of him. Sometimes he wondered if you really were real.. You were too good for him thought, he didn't someone like you.. Maybe you were just like the heroes he watched on a tv when he was young. Just a fictional character too good to be true.

But you in fact were true, a real breathing person with a beating heart. Hearing your heartbeat reassured him of it, calmed him down both his body and mind.

He could be a little selfish too right..? Just a bit when it came to you. He deserved good things to his life too right? It was okay to let you this close right? To show someone the more vulnerable sides of him too right?

Those were just some of his thoughts running through his mind while he cuddled close to you. Feeling the softness of your boobs and gentle loving hand playing with his hair. All worries disappearing as you murmured sweet nothings to his ear. Telling how much of a good boy he was, how much you loved him, how he in fact did deserve good things to his life too. Reassuring him that he would never have to be alone again. Not when he had you here. And you weren't planning on leaving, not now or ever.

It calmed his mind, knowing you were here, hearing it in your words and heart. Heart that right now sounded like it was beating for him. Heart that actually cared and wouldn't leave.

Hwang Hyunjin is a big mystery. To many people, he appears to be a serious and closed-off guy, but to his sweetheart he is the complete opposite.

He is one of the most affectionate yanderes that exist (at least in my yandere universe), Hyunjin is very hungry for affection and caresses, in this case, your caresses. He's very serious about safety, if there's one thing he's not flippant about, it's that. You will definitely have a lot of bodyguards behind you. You're not allowed to leave the house without him unless you have an armada of guards protecting you, you can never know how dangerous out there can be. What if you are kidnapped? Stolen? Or even murdered?

He is very subtle and reserved with certain things, like his thoughts about other people. You can read him like a book when it comes to his feelings for you as he doesn't try to hide anything from you, but when it comes to his deepest thoughts he doesn't tell anyone, not even you. He's afraid you'll know how sick and needy for you he's become, all the monstrous things he's willing to do just to keep you with him.

He loves to sleep cuddled with you, especially with a spoon (him being the bigger one). Hyunjin thinks sleeping together with the person you love is one of the greatest proofs of intimacy, trust and love, as you would be vulnerable in sleep. Watching you sleep peacefully in his arms makes him calm and happy.

Hyunjin loves you so much, like so much, he is willing to sacrifice himself and the whole world just for you. There's nothing he wouldn't do for you, do what you want with him, hit him, hurt him, but just don't let leave him, okay? La Pluie: On desire, vulnerability, and the perils of not clarifying your relationship status

Hooooo my god y’all, this episode has sent me into the stratosphere. First of all, let me just send you back here to read @bengiyo on this show’s depiction of queer desire because boy is it relevant to today’s episode. His read of this show, and the sexual dynamics at play between Patts and Tai, was absolutely spot on.

Today’s episode explored a couple major themes:

The interplay between desire and vulnerability

The perils of not clarifying your relationship status

Let’s start with the first, because that bed scene has been playing on a loop in my head. Throughout this episode, we see that Tai is both very into Patts, and also still not quite ready to jump in with both feet. He is happy and proud for others to know Patts is his soulmate.

He can’t stop remembering their makeout session and getting all flustered and shy about it.

He is finding ways to spend time together and exchanging shy smiles with him.

He comes up with an excuse to touch Patts in bed.

He initiates another kiss.

And he is extremely into it when they start getting down to business.

So why does he pull back when Patts goes to remove his pants, clearly about to return to the act he intended to perform last time? Because being the one to receive pleasure would make Tai feel vulnerable, and he is not ready to go there yet. He is still struggling to come to terms with the fact that he very much does want to be with the person society calls his soulmate, despite his own fear and discomfort with the idea. At the same time, he does genuinely like and want Patts, and so he offers to give pleasure instead.

I love love love this scene because it gives us such a clear indication of where Tai is emotionally. Because of all the baggage he has attached to the idea of soulmates, he is fighting his own instincts. His brain, his body, his heart are clearly all pointing straight at Patts, but he’s afraid to trust it because Patts is all tangled up with his confused feelings about this supposed destiny. It’s such a great depiction of that internal push-pull he’s feeling while also leaving no doubt where his true feelings lie.

Now onto the second theme, the perils of not clarifying your relationship status. Let me just say it outright: this one is all on Tai. Patts was ready to declare themselves faen as soon as they had aired out all their misunderstandings. He wanted Tai before he knew they were soulmates and he wants him now. It’s Tai who is holding back because of his hang ups about the soulmate myth.

This came back to bite him twice in this episode, first with Lomfon and then with Nara. Now here I have to get into a side point because this episode clarified something for me: there is no triangle here. This show just loves to zig when you expect it to zag, and they did it again today. Because Tai is not considering Lomfon at all - he is entirely occupied with Patts, and his hesitations have nothing to do with Lomfon’s pursuit, which he still isn’t even perceiving. Bow is the one who keeps telling him Lomfon is circling and likely to become a problem if he doesn’t make his relationship with Patts clear, but Tai truly still doesn’t seem to even believe her. It’s a non-issue for him, except for Lomfon hanging around dropping rude comments and making everyone feel awkward. But Patts is not quite so oblivious, and you can tell he clocked Lomfon immediately, though he doesn’t seem to feel the need to do anything about it.

In any case, the more important interference here is from Nara, because it caught Tai so off guard. We have already seen Patts kindly but firmly reject Nara. It seems she showed up here without being invited to surprise him. She even tells Tai she is here trying to pursue her ex, just so there’s no confusion (for us anyway). We can see that Patts is standing stiffly and his mouth is clenched tightly shut when she kisses him, in stark contrast to his kisses with Tai, which are always open-mouthed and loose and enthusiastic. So there’s really no question for us, the audience, that what Tai has walked in on is simply Nara’s last desperate attempt, and Patts is probably gonna push her away in quick order. Tai has absolutely nothing to worry about.

But he doesn’t know that, because he has shied away from clarifying his relationship with Patts and denied himself the security he should be feeling when witnessing such a scene. For Tai to react so strongly to seeing someone else kiss Patts is another clear signal of how deep his feelings already run. Despite his resistance to being with his soulmate because of everything that happened with his parents, he does already feel that Patts is somehow his and he does want to be with him. All that’s left is for him to accept it.

cant believe big dragon would be something i need to sit with/sleep on. really the most confusing part for me last ep was their conversation because what were they even saying? it was like everything they said kept flying over each other's head and it was so frustrating because it felt like they had their points and were having roughly the same conversation but also...not? and i have to thank @lelephantsnail for her tags on my post because it really helped streamline my thought about this.

this kind of subtle and nuanced form of miscommunication is not only unprecedented in thai bl but rare in media overall. however, it happens all the time in real life - where you are having a conversation and you understand each other's words perfectly but not each other's meaning/perspective.

b/c the truth is as fuckboi extraordinaires they have different stakes in this issue of Mangkorn's engagement and they're both right to prioritize their own skin in this game - in fact it's the healthy thing to do.

So some of the critical points of miscommunication in this convo (according to me) under the cut

whether or not to share this secret:

this was hard because on one hand mangkorn is trying to set a boundary and he does it in a fairly decent way: there's something im dealing with and i need time to deal with this and ill tell you everything when im ready. But...this is a fairly insane boundary to set with your lover esp when this 'problem' directly affects your relationship. Yai is right to demand to know more because you cannot deal with a problem affecting a relationship one-sidedly. But Mangkorn is also operating here in good faith - he has no intention of betraying Yai, he has all intentions of being with him so why does he have to admit something that will make yai misunderstand and leave him? Mangkorn wants a chance because being duplicitous is not his intention or his goal and its not fair that Mangkorn has to sacrifice his chance at love because of something that was decided for him. But Yai needs a chance too! A chance to decide if he wants to pursue this relationship despite the risks. And this is a good thing! Perhaps putting your life on hold for the dude you've been hate pining over and had one night of hate-love fucking is not the best idea! And thinking about his own heart and impending heartbreak is the right move.

He corners Mangkorn into telling him and Mangkorn tries his best to curtail the pitfalls - you'll understand me, right? im scared you'll leave me so you'll stay by my side right? - and Yai's answer 'its better than knowing nothing' isn't a promise that he will stay with Mangkorn. He's saying that at this point the only chance Mangkorn has of keeping him is by telling the truth. But Mangkorn hears what he needs to hear to tell Yai the truth. And so when Yai's reaction is this:

When Yai's first reaction is to think about himself and not focus on how difficult this situation is for Mangkorn (which it is!) it feels like a huge betrayal!

I had warned him it wasn't going to be easy and he reassured me we will be fine (he hadnt) so why is he saying this to me now? All I'm asking is for him to keep faith so why is he assuming the worst of me?

and Yai isn't assuming the worst of Mangkorn but of the situation itself but you can understand why Mangkorn feels so attacked because he's all raw and vulnerable from sharing something he did not want to share and his partner has reacted in exactly the way he was afraid of the most despite him saying he wouldn't react in that way (yai hasn't said anything of the sort)

And then being classic fuckbois - which honestly relatable - they say the absolute worse thing they could have to each other:

its like they picked the one thing the other was most insecure about and threw it in their faces which honestly was almost comic. they have tried for this long to talk like normal human beings and at the most critical moment of showing support and reaffirming commitment - they both default to their baser instincts of running away from hard things [which fair lmao].

And l love that they are able to call each other out on it! That they don't take the stoic okay that's done then bye! route. Mangkorn expresses what's hurting him - you're my partner and you're supposed to support me - and yai expresses whats hurting him - was giving me a choice in this relationship ever important to you? And of course Mangkorn just gets down to it. Things are spiraling and there's really one way out of this where they can stay together: that despite all the hurtful things they just said to each other - is there a way out of this together Yai knows what Mangkorn needs to hear but Yai answers in a way that is consistent with what he's shown is important to him: honesty and god is it heartbreaking and the way Bank plays it here is so GOOD

So no this conversation achieves nothing and narratively the two characters will engage in the terrible decision making that they would have had they not been so real with each other - Mangkorn will try to run away and Yai tries to distract himself. But boy, if they are to come back to each other in a way that feels realistic and not in a fantastical 'true love conquers all' copout way that can really only ever happen in stories, then having this conversation was absolutely critical.

Without a doubt, I fell head over heels for the prince of Charming, Jax Teller. It was easy to catch feelings for him especially in season one. His mindset and personality was 10/10 however, when he became king and lost sight of the end-game, I still loved him as much.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒂𝒔 𝑰 𝒅𝒐 𝒏𝒐𝒘:

Tig goddamn Trager. I wasn't big on him early on in the show as he was quite sadistic, foul and so loyal to the wrong man (Clay) but as he grew with the crew, he really opened up. Seeing his vulnerable side mixed in with his psychotic side was a dream, I thoroughly enjoyed him throughout the rest of the seasons. You just knew if shit was going down, Tig was always willing to get dirty.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕:

Juice Ortiz. He was amusing in the start and possessed such great potential but as soon as he started crossing the club, all I could see was a RAT. The fact that Chibs heard him out in that bathroom, consoled him and let him cry just for Juice to turn and look in the mirror to accept the fact he was going to continue talking to the Feds I then very very much disliked him. ALSO he killed Miles, just to cover up his own betrayal!? Dirty.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔:

Tara. I will never understand why the fandom seems to dislike her. She out of most characters, in my eyes, suffered the most; she fought to contain the love her and Jax shared. She tried to live the life, to be an old lady, to give it a chance. If I were in her shoes, I'd understand the fear of raising baby boys in that lifestyle, and since Jax promised her they could have a life of their own, she was desperate to achieve it. She lost her dream, her job, her relationship with Jax and then her life. Still kills me to this day.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑰 𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓:

I loved Gemma, but then I loved to hate her. She was fierce, empowering, resilient and took no shit. She eventually took Tara in and bonded with her as an attempt to be a family for Jax (When she helped Tara release anger by firing rounds into Ima's car, ICONIC) But as we all know, the gavel corrupts and those around, get fucked up. Gemma lost her way, and dug a hole so deep, it became a void of lies, secrets and schemes. Like SO many people died because of her. She is the true villain of the show.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒎𝒐𝒐𝒄𝒉:

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑰’𝒅 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆:

I'd want to be like Chibs. Chibs was always level headed, made his decisions by logic over emotions. He is dedicated, selfless, supportive and loyal. He wasn't afraid to cry when he needed, and he wasn't afraid to slap a bitch either. He was always able to remain content, not get greedy and do what was best for the club.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑰’𝒅 𝒔𝒍𝒂𝒑:

If I had to choose just one, I'd most likely slap Clay' with all my rings on. The damage he caused, was far and wide and unrepairable. The deaths he set up - I couldn't believe it. he had no issues killing/trying to kill old ladies.. Donna, Gemma, Tara.. but for SOME reason, I still felt for him the tiniest bit when he met Mr. Mayhem but it was more relieving then anything else.

𝑨 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆:

Jax and Tara. I really really fell in love watching them fall in love. Highschool sweethearts. Doctor married to an outlaw. It's just poetic. The chemistry was so visible, whether it was just really great acting or the actors felt some kind of way about each other, It was obvious.

TIG AND VENUS! A pairing I never saw coming, but could not get enough of! I'll always remember the line "She tends to dilly dally" and Jax realizing Tig is hooked - "Should I be worried?" Gets me every time!

𝑨 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒔𝒆:

Not exactly a couple, however... Nero and Wendy riding off in the sunset together with Thomas and Abel felt so... wrong. I was never a big fan of Wendy, she was a struggling junkie throughout the entire show, she felt compelled to assert herself into Jax's life whenever possible including RIGHT after Tara dies!? Like, settle down. Nero is such a dad, and a supporting member of the show. I just felt like he was going to raise those little boys on his own, including take care of a grown ass woman, cause that's Wendy for you.

An additional question that I want to add:

Damon. I fucking hated him. He's the reason Opie died, brutally. He's the reason Jax started going off the deep end, and he burned Tig's daughter alive. Just disgusting! The fact that he actually believed he was "mentoring" Jax into being a better player, a proper king, shows how narcissistic he was, yuck!

Which character death affected you the most?

Opie Winston. I just didn't see it coming. The man that lost both his wife and dad and unborn baby (Lyla) I didn't think he'd bite the bullet too. The fact that he sacrificed himself, is what hurts the most. The entire scene will always send me shivers and never fail to make me a sobbing mess. RIP Opie, you were a real one.

Oooooo this one is tricky. Idk if any of them are more affectionate than the others because they all show affection differently. None of them are verbally affectionate, not typically (I mean, come on, Walter is the sass master and Fox is snarky while Dana is a split second away from turning feral) but they are all very physically affectionate. I think Fox and Dana are tied for overtly physical affection. They like to touch what’s theirs. Feel the people they love under their fingertips. Walter likes the same but I don’t think he’s outwards obvious about it. Not until he can see Fox and Dana need it, or he’s alone with them 🥰

They all have different tactics depending in who they’re comforting!

When Dana is feeling down, there’s nothing she likes more than being held. It’s cannon! Snuggling up with her boys gives her a chance to be vulnerable and makes it easier for her to open up to them. Fox often lays in bed with her while Walter typically holds her in his lap 🥰

I think Fox likes to be babied and cared for 😂 He absolutely loves how Dana immediately holds his face with her hands and asks what’s wrong, what she can do for him. If he doesn’t answer, she’ll just cover his face in kisses until he can’t help but laugh. Walter is more direct. He’s careful, his voice gentle and kind as he asks what’s wrong. He’s always ready to give Fox a hug, in fact, Fox normally initiates it when he’s not in a great mindset. Walter will tease him for it, call him needy or a brat, but he never pushes Fox away. Just combs his fingers through Fox’s hair and pretends he doesn’t hear those little sobs. Sometimes their hugs end with a beer. Other times Walter surprises him with his favorite brand of sunflower seeds.

Walter is very non-communicative. He doesn’t like to show emotional vulnerability. When the relationship first started out, I think it was difficult for Fox and Dana to notice when something was wrong, much less what to do about it. They’re afraid to give him space, worried he won’t feel loved and supported, so they try giving him little gifts here and there. Presents of food and beverages they’ve noticed him consume. A shot in the dark, frankly. It helps, but it’s not enough. When their relationship with him turns physical, however, I think that’s when they finally figure him out. He lets himself go during sex. He relaxes and opens up. It’s also a way for him to vent. A little heavy petting and a hot make-out session later and he’s fine 😂 And if that’s not enough, they lure him into something a bit more…intense 👀💦

They’re all so fucking insecure lmfaoooo 💖 Dana and Walter worry about their appearance like crazy while Fox is terrified the two of them will get tired of him one day. Walter especially, I think, would struggle with their age difference. Not realizing Dana and Fox eat up old men like college students and ramen lmao

I think Fox and Dana win this one 😂 They’re attached to their lovers like parasites (said with love) while Walter is more of a…quiet, long suffering yearner. He misses them every second they’re not by his side BUT he kinda of…forces himself to get over it. I think he does it to prepare himself for if the two ever leave him. Fox and Dana never will, but it’s that little speck of self doubt that keeps Walter from lowering his guard completely.

Personality: I'm a introvert but not necessarily shy. Actually, I'm pretty chaotic and carefree. You could say I'm a rule breaker, I just do whatever I want. People call me wild but I would say I'm just free lol.

I might have a careless behavior, but I do try my outmost to be kind. Just because I'm intimidating, it doesn't mean I have to be outright mean, right?

I also am heavily independent, I think I might actually have a stroke if I ask anyone for help, I just don't like feeling vulnerable lol.

I would say my good qualities are that I'm pretty pacient and open minded. I just don't get angry and don't judge people at all.

My bad qualities are that I might be too nonchalant about everything and have a tendency to be aloof. Like, I don't take most things seriously, it might prevent me from having outbursts but it also makes me look indifferent.

Likes: I really like cats, cold weather and spooky stories, horror movies. I love halloween and visiting "haunted" places.

Dislikes: I'm really afraid of dogs for no reason and hate hot weather. I also dislike spicy food.

Hobbies: My main hobby is deadass spending money, it's so fun buying random things. I might have a spending problem but at least that's my own money, right?

She didn't need to be a seer to foresee that question being asked right after the previous inquiry on whether Emilia thought her longtime ally attractive or not. Yet, that was worse - far worse than the previous one. Raising a hand, she signed to the pixies stop before they could approach the sorceress and serve her anything, as she was not feeling like joining her dear twin on a drink.

Her expression also changed to a more somber one. "On the contrary, he knows quite well how to be romantic and insistent. Veigar was far too precious to her, and the mere thought he could be in danger was enough to make Emilia panic.

"Briar is nearly indestructible, so it is easy to allow myself to love and show it to her. Plus, my mentality changed a lot since the last time I had to mother anybody." Her brothers, the ones she should have protected and raised. The images of their corpses on their house flooded back to the front of her mind, forcing LeBlanc to actually put her acting skills to the test as to not show how much that question was affecting her.

She was disclosing a lot until that point in hopes to avoid the main topic, but alas, there were no more names to be listed but Vladimir's.

"I have loved Vladimir for over a thousand years now. I hated him when we first met, thought of him to be too vain, annoying and short-sighted. "I know now how foolish I was, because pushing him away only served to hurt both of us and did not make me love him any less. And after so long avoiding him, I feel like I am finally about to lose him. We are slowly drifting apart and I don't think I should try to change it. I don't even think I could change it and make him believe me again even if I tried to be honest and share all of this." There was something about knowing your end was approaching. It put things into a new perspective and it was forcing LeBlanc to reevaluate everything she had done with her life until that point.

"Perhaps it is better this way." She concluded, hand going to the nape of her neck, where Mordekaiser had branded her with his Sigil. She still could feel it, as a constant reminder that his return was near. "He will suffer less when I'm gone, and will have the empire all for himself, without me trying to hold him back from openly ruling Noxus." One last gift to her loved one.

"As for how uncomfortable that question made me on a scale from 0 to 10, it was a solid 12." With that, Emilia stood up from her chair in front of the mirror, covering it with a black velvet cloth, and leaving the room.

What I really love about ML is that despite Marinette knowing that she’s in love with Adrien and aiming for him as a civilian and that despite Adrien knowing that he’s in love with Ladybug and aiming for her as Chat Noir, it’s that they hold the alter-egos of their lovers on a standard just as high and aren’t afraid to treasure them when they can.

Marinette feels very comfortable in showing her weaknesses and vulnerabilities to Chat Noir when she’s Ladybug (and the few times he’s met with her when she’s a civilian). She can do the most dumbest and stupidest things, even unintentionally hurt her own partner BUT she can always count on him to set her back on the right path and stay by her side! The person who loves her so damn much has seen her at her worst and yet all he does is fall deeper in love and that’s just so delicious!

And Marinette isn’t afraid to give him casual affection as Ladybug, be it treating him like a cat with pets or giving him adorable nicknames (which I googled and saw that couples like to use the same names >,’:D). Whether she’s aware that she’s romantically into him or not, the platonic way she treats him is so sweet and fun!

With Adrien, the way he’s been Marinette’s supporter from day one? Ugh, I just absolutely love that. He isn’t afraid to tell her how much he admires her and how amazing he finds her- even calling her his everyday Ladybug! The very same girl he’s head over heels for! He visibly brightens up whenever she’s around and he’s always takes opportunities to talk to her or interact and someone hold her be it a hand on the shoulder or you know, dancing with her.

Although Risk’s powers came to play, the fact that he chose to share his vulnerabilities with Marinette of all people? That he felt safe enough to open up to her about things he hasn’t told anyone else? She brings out deeper emotions within him and helps him strive for the best and she doesn’t even know it.

Marinette doesn’t even fully comprehend just how important she is to Adrien. Just how Chat Noir doesn’t fully comprehend how important he is to Ladybug.

Oh and let’s not forget how Adrien had a role to bringing Ladybug back to her feet during Strike Back~ Despite the misunderstandings and maelstrom of feelings bubbling within him, he wasted no time in helping his Lady through her panic attack just as a civilian and gave her a little push!

These two make me insane!

I could fangirl forever but I have work to do so tl;dr- the dynamics of Marinette and Adrien with each other as well as their alter-egos makes my stone cold heart beat once in a while.

A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)

Yeah…probably not the most publicly affectionate person out there. He’s a little stiff, and if you tried to hang all over him in public, he will turn a bright shade of red. Instead, he’s all for looping his arm through yours, holding you tight to his side.

He likes it this way, where he’s being affectionate, but it’s nothing over the top. He’s not opposed to pda, but nothing over-the-top. In private, however, everything is on the table. He loves holding you, kissing you, rubbing his hands through your hair-he’s all about it.

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)

Best Friend Hewlett is the ideal friend. He’s honest, loyal, and if anything a bit like your father-but he’s always there for you. Hewlett would run to you in the middle of the night if you needed him there.

How the friendship would start, probably over a shared interest. Literature, most likely. If he saw you reading something he loves, he would approach you to talk about it, most definitely.

C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)

Privately, absolutely. That’s how he’s best to fall asleep, holding you close in his arms. Big spoon or little spoon, he doesn’t matter to him. He just likes being so close to you.

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)

Hell yeah! Really all he’s ever wanted, truly. Hewlett appreciates a tidy home and that includes the kitchen. Loves cooking and basically anything that can relieve stress.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

In person, and very formally. He would say his piece, and then allow you to say yours. If you were to cry, he’d hold you. He’s not one of those guys to say “let’s be friends” and not mean it. He will literally enforce that, he wants to be your friend, if you’ll allow him to.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?)

Not sure. He’s committed to you, 100%, and is serious about your relationship! Marriage, that’s something to table for a good while, at least a year or two.

He doesn’t want you to feel like he isn’t committed, because he is. But he doesn’t want to rush things. He wants everything to be perfect, and not forced.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

Physically, very. Hewlett is a huge softie.

Emotionally? The same. Very gentle, I think he often wears his emotions on his sleeve, and tries to hide that fact. But you hold him close and let him know he doesn’t have to put up any kind of act.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

Yeah!!! He does!!! All the time, side hugs, full hugs, bear hugs, he’s all about it! Usually as a greeting, but also in moments of vulnerability and fear. He holds you like you’re a lifeline, and he will do it without being asked. And will do it forever, until you tell him to stop.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)

Fast, but not too fast. He knows it likely within a month or so, but he’ll hold it until the moment is right. He never wants to pounce on you, or make you feel uncomfortable. He’s always willing to express it, night and day. He knows he loves you, but doesn’t want to make you feel any sort of way so soon.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

yeah…pretty jelly. Maybe sometimes he feels inferior, and that there are better guys out there for you. It’s not okay if someone is making you feel uncomfy, and while he isn’t afraid of confrontation, he doesn’t want to cause a scene. So, he exchanges some words, and whisks you away. He’s there to protect you, and yeah, well, he gets a little jelly too.
