soooo patronising whn people talk about like “making an effort to read more books by women/BIPOC” like its a chore & those reading challenges where the other entries are like an actual feature of the book and then its “read something by an AOC (author of colour)” and like “read something not published in the US” idk chief if reading interesting novels with fresh perspectives is like a challenge to you that you have to labour through so u can make a patronising tweet abt it and get back to reading branderson sanderson’s 980th book youre the weakest link to me

Apparently in my absence this post had its 1000-notes-iversary.
This time we get to see the culprit responsible for ruining our heroes' lives as well.
I've really missed you guys, by the way. I know I've said that already, but I'm serious. Once or twice this year I've been right on the brink of coming back but schedule stuff always keeps me from letting myself commit to that again, and that in turn has kept me from posting anything at all. But I've been in an unexpected drawing mood lately and so if I can get enough stuff to set up a queue we might pretend I'm back for a month or so sometime this year. Maybe. Hopefully. We'll see. No promises though. That's why I'm hiding this paragraph under the cut.
Transcription:
[Beren:] "Uhhh...barkeep...I think he's had enough now..."
[Tolkien:] "No, I don't think he has...!"

Well, 17 again! Maybe smth PV related :O
Thanks for participating in this ask game! Here, have a writing extract
17) From an unfinished WIP
Tagging @ybnavibeswithbats1122 since this is both part of a writing request of theirs and because they requested 17 previously! :D
Pure Vanilla Cookie was having trouble sleeping.
It was not an overabundance of energy keeping him from the throes of slumber; quite the opposite, in fact. Exhaustion weighed on both his body and mind more heavily than it had done in a long while, yet something deep within him simply refused to let him rest. Restlessness stirred in his aching joints, a sense of prickling unease burdening his mind persistently. The Beasts had been locked away once more, and Dark Enchantress Cookie had yet to approach the Silver Tree- by all means, the period of planning they were going through just then should have provided the perfect source of respite.
And yet, whenever he finally did manage to drift off into oblivion, his dreams were consistently plagued by all the awful memories he had acquired during Shadow Milk's brief escape into the Faerie Kingdom. Pure Vanilla had never been one to shame another for experiencing nightmares: he understood the effect that trauma had on one's psyche, and was hardly going to belittle a cookie for something far beyond their control.
Unfortunately for him, however, it appeared that his mind was quite adamant on upholding the image he had created thus far of the unfaltering Hero he had upheld for years. It was up to him to be a light in the current period of darkness they all were facing, a strong pillar of support that the younger cookies could lean on when overwhelmed by the gravity of the task before them.
Pure Vanilla didn't dare approach White Lily about his troubles, not when they were already on rocky ground and she had enough to concern herself with as it was. Hollyberry, Dark Cacao and Golden Cheese had yet to arrive from Crispia, and his only other potential confidants were children, so Pure Vanilla thought it best to keep to himself. A few nightmares were hardly the end of the world, after all. He was quite certain that he was overdramatising the matter entirely.
What he saw in his dreams could not hurt him, no matter how often it resulted in him jolting awake while the moon still shone above them. Pure Vanilla Cookie was as safe as he could be just then, and he was positive that there was nothing to worry about in the slightest.

im so sorry im so sorry but ur auau is delicious- and are u saying that garak did manage to hack into their shuttle info and find out their real last names because thats tHATS HIM. Thats hims names and also bashir so 👁️👁️ I am incoherent also you are so cool
I realize that i implied that there would be a situation where Iskra and Idan don't know EXACTLY what their yadek would do in the situation and prepare for it accordingly.
(Idan is at Quark's learning tongo, Iskra's hanging out in their shuttle still because it's climate-controlled and they both know Garak's going to break in.)
I don't even know how he'd react knowing that their visitors are Garak-Bashirs... there truly are no such thing as coincidences... but also ??????!!!!?????

Alaska to me is the “cold state” so when it is significantly colder where I am than it is in Alaska it shatters my worldview
