Can't decide on a specific scene but i'll take anything you have to say about i'll meet judgement by the hounds bc at this point i have re-read it so many times ...
the thing about ill meet judgement by the hounds is that literally no concrete planning went into writing that thing. i was up against a deadline for a grad school assignment i was procrastinating like NOBODY'S BUSINESS had two panic attacks that week (unrelated to school!!) and then flew to bath with my roommate spur of the moment. posted that ch2 late at night zooted on my anxiety meds and and woke up to some LOVELY messages that i read on a bus when i was pulling away from the airport. insane experience. i didnt even want to give it a chapter two right away i was like IM BUSY. and then i wrote it immediately.
BUT to actually talk about the fic. like you asked <3. i actually had this idea that i wanted to follow marc's pov (at that point i had only written vale) and get inside his insane headspace leading up to his arm surgery and then be like. wouldnt it be crazy if vale was there and wanted to reconcile a bit but he was also kind of avoiding SAYING THAT. wouldnt that make marc feel EVEN CRAZIER. marc marquez saw trap simulator. inside you there are two wounds one is valentino rossi and the other is your fucked up arm. anddddd 2022 seemed like the ideal place for a rosquez reunion to me! like. dramaturgically. marc is on the brink. vale has just retired (easy to get a reason for him to have an epiphany regarding marc, made even easier bc marc pov means i never have to explain it in depth !)
and the thing about this fic is that it was supposed to be. A LOT longer. go race by race until his surgery and have them talk a lot more. change a little more gradually. but uh. ive already said my life was insane at that time and i got excited and fucking SENT that badboy. (again. i was lightly tranquilized.) which i think MOSTLY makes it better but the pacing is still little wacky. anyways i do think of the scene i cut where marc talks to alex all the time but i think i also fully deleted it! dont write fic under the influence! i also cut a BIG scene of them at the french GP where vale brings marc a sandwich and makes him eat it. it should also be noted that i was doing SO much journalism research about this period and i found a bunch of WILD quotes from marc that i compiled into a small insane vision board of them to ground my fic in his crazy way of conceptualizing his life. that i apparently also deleted while zen-ed out. so
more stupid behind the scenes under the cut
actual plot summary (my "outline") that i wrote out at the top of my google doc complete with typo:
Thinking about how absolutely distressing it would be for Marc pre surgery or right after if Vale tried to reconcile. Early 2022 before surgery decision and post Vale retirement
Scenes of Vale like. earnestl y talking to him. Marc represses a panic attack every time. race by race?
and here's what i had written for aragon, which is full of lines i just thought of with NO context or structure like this part would NOT take off the ground. you might notice some of them get repurposed later in the fic:
III. French GP, 2022. P6.
Marc’s still not out of the habit of reaching for him, apparently. He looks— God. Marc’s head hurts just looking at him. He could swear he has defenses from this, from how Marc can feel where he is in every room they’re in together. He guesses somewhere in the last few weeks he’s lost them, again. Just another thing he used to be good at.
despite everything, Marc can feel himself relax, with Vale here. The warm heat of him sharing space. He used to feel like this all the time. Vale to his left. His arm, casual and pain free, on his right. Now he's scarred all the way down both sides.
He remembers when he was a kid and he met Vale. How he had winked at Marc and said, I'll look out for you, cradling the toy car that Marc had brought specifically to give to him in his hands. How Marc had turned it over in his brain for years. I'll look out for you.
Marc bargains with himself
Marc does stupid, stupid things when Vale is in his life. He knows this. Going to the ranch is a bad idea. the press alone, if anyone finds out, would feed the paddock journos for years. It would be stupid— risky
Someone needs to tell him not to race. calm him down. Usually, it’s Álex.
MORE OUTLINE: Vale brings him a sandwich and Marc wants to cry, terrible race. They watch a movie its very Valentino voice lemme take care of you !!! but no talking about their past lmao. maybe arm
Genuinely terrible race. That one stat about alwasy finishing top 5 or crashing. Vale like actually gets him to talk about his arm which gets no where fast (guest alex?) and riding misery begins to reach a tipping point

Faces
Carlisle x Esme 2200 words
for @needahugfromesme
Faces
Fall, 1934 Amherst, MA
It was an utterly ordinary afternoon. Rosalie and Edward had recently returned from university, and the sounds of their bickering rose up the stairs. Why the two of them did not find their peace elsewhere, she didn’t know. She might send them off to hunt, she thought. Perhaps in different counties.
Yet there was something familiar about the way the two of them had fallen into rhythm as siblings. Edward, older and younger brother at once. Rosalie, full of disastrously-won wisdom and always aggrieved, unwilling to listen to Edward’s point of view. There was no sign that they would ever be the partners Esme’s husband had once imagined, hoping that a woman might solve the same hole in Edward’s heart that Esme herself had solved in his. And yet there was a camaraderie in their arguments and insults, a rhythm to their family dynamic that somehow made it more whole. They were true siblings—occasionally quietly bonded over the latest news from Chevrolet, more often sniping like children about closed bedroom doors.
Carlisle, though—he was more difficult. Rosalie had snapped at him before he’d left for work. Her resentment knew no bounds, exacerbated by the knowledge that even in his moment of profoundly foolish savior-complex, he had been thinking of Edward, and the pain that still burned in his own heart, two years after their prodigal son had returned…
Esme wasn’t sure Rosalie would ever forgive him.
She wasn’t sure Rosalie should.
Her husband didn’t know how to relate to a daughter, Esme understood. His son had completed him so fully—unlocking with his gift the centuries of solitude which made Carlisle Cullen who he was. Like everything of importance Carlisle did, he had turned Rosalie it rashly, without regard to her effects on anyone else.
Rosalie was just strong enough to force him to pay the price for that.
Esme recalled her husband’s slumped shoulders as he exited the house after the latest round of berating from his daughter. The look in his eyes of utter defeat.
“She’ll cool off,” Esme had whispered to him hours before, but she hadn’t—as usual, she had taken her discomfort out on Edward. And as Esme listened to the voices reaching a fever pitch downstairs—a back and forth which grew increasingly intense but did not reach a point where she needed to intervene—she selected charcoal, her hand flying across the paper on her easel before she even knew what she was beginning. As so many times before, it was her husband’s face her fingers brought to mind. She had drawn him how many dozens of times in the ten years between the time she had met him and when she had awoken to this new life. The high cheekbones, the square jaw, the singular lock of utterly unruly hair at his temple which seemed to exist only to prove that there were some things Carlisle Cullen could never control. She had forced herself to recall those features over and over, to render them in more permanent forms—charcoal, pencil, oil pastel. Over and over she had drawn him until his face had been committed not only to the memory of her mind but also the memory of her fingers.
She had never planned to have a daughter. She had known, somehow, from the moment she felt the first strange sensation in her abdomen. Not a kick or a flutter or any of the things that her girlfriends had told her to expect, but instead as though some of her internal organs simply…flipped over. She had touched her own belly in awe, and had known right then, without thinking, that it was a male child. Perhaps a daughter would have softened her husband, but she knew, somehow, that a male child was in greater danger. That he would not be protected; that he would be pushed, that the expectation upon his barely-formed shoulders would be impossible. It had been that conviction that had put her on the Great Lakes train, whisked her to a state she’d never seen before,  and which later drove her from her cousin’s to the very northern tip of the country.
Then her son had been born, with his tiny squalling body and his perfect smell, only to be ripped away fewer than two days later. And she had reached out in despair and found not her son, but the gentle face she had sketched for  a decade, staring down at her.
Today, as she laid out the roughest of her husband’s familiar form, Esme was not fully aware that somehow, she had softened the beautiful severity of his cheekbones, that she had added subtle curvature to the sharpness of his jaw. But she had done so, and it wasn’t Carlisle’s face which was emerging.
It had been an entire year, now, that their family of three had been a family of four. And a scant single score of years that the hardened bachelor and his beloved son had welcomed any feminine presence into their lives. She had worried about being a bother to them both, and she knew, that sometimes, she was—the way Edward’s eyes would narrow from time to time, the way Carlisle shadowed him when he was upset.
And so she tried. She tried to reach to Rosalie. She tried to bridge the shared elements of their past, only to be met with the coldest of shoulders. This family, Rosalie seemed to say, was the world of the men. Rose hated Carlisle for his hubris, hated Edward for his gift, and if she didn’t hate Esme, it was only for Esme’s shared experience of these two things.
So, as she thought of her daughter, listened to bickering give way to quiet conversation, and then to silence, and then to the gentle chords of a sonata, the cheekbones softened, the jawbone became subtler, the high forehead became heart-shaped with a widow’s peak. The nose became thinner, the lips softer, and the single unruly lock of golden hair became dozens, spilling onto shoulders which sloped more gently.
It was difficult for vampires to get fully lost in work, and so she heard when the front door open and close. Edward was still playing, and wherever Rose had moved to—her bedroom, if the distance to her scent was to believed—she was quiet. So Esme knew that her husband was home even before she heard a briefcase drop gently to the floor and before the waft of smoked cinnamon made its way to her nose. She had a split-second to consider this fact before warm lips had buried themselves where her neck met her collarbone.
“What are you drawing,” her husband muttered, and she shook her head.
“Nothing.”
“It’s never nothing.” He stepped back and appraised the easel, reaching out with one hand. She laid down her charcoal and smacked his arm playfully.
“It isn’t nothing. But I’m not finished yet. Go bother the children.”
He sighed. “They’re fighting.”
“They’ve been fighting all afternoon. It’s quieter, now.”
Her husband chuckled, pressing his lips to her neck again. “I apologize for leaving you alone all day with that.”
She shook her head. “Edward plays impromptus when he’s angry with Rose. It’s good background.” It had been Fauré , today—the impossibly fast descending scales across the keyboard, sounding like water. Esme had never bothered to learn the details of classical music before, but now it was impossible not to—she marveled at times at the way her mind was able to store the names of styles and composers and even the actual beats of the music itself. She hadn’t cared, before, but with Edward, it became a thing about which one cared. To love Edward was to love his piano, and that meant that all of them learned to understand it.
“Give me another half-hour?” she asked.
Her husband nodded, kissing her neck again and then disappearing. The piano stopped mid-phrase, and she heard only one-sided murmurs which told her that Carlisle and Edward were engaged in one of their desperately intimate conversations. If she strained, she could hear them, no doubt, but she chose not to, letting her hand bring shape to the face whose provenance she now understood. She kept the long eyelashes, and the light-hued eyes. She made the lips ever so slightly fuller, and drew the slightest hint of a bosom at the bottom of the page.
It was longer than a half hour before Carlisle returned. From the subtle addition to his scent, it seemed likely he had been sitting with Edward at the piano, having one of their near-silent conversations. Edward could read Carlisle’s mind, of course, but after a decade and a half, it often seemed that Carlisle could read Edward’s almost as surely. They often sat in silent companionship, Edward plying, Carlisle listening, bonded by their thoughts and impenetrable by either Rosalie or Esme.
Carlisle kissed her before even bothering to look at the easel. She let herself fall into the kiss, the way her husband’s supple lips moved against her own. It was only several minutes later that he seemed to remember what he had intended to inquire after, and pulled away to appraise the drawing. His head cocked to one side as he gazed at it, his mouth falling open slightly in recognition.
He had revealed this sad fact in their very first conversation. She, half-delirious from the laudanum, he, trying bravely to keep his demeanor professional. Yet she recalled it with her hazy, opiate-influenced human memory, nearly with the same crystal clarity that he did. As she’d asked after his name, and after receiving his title, asked his first name, which he had, to his own surprise, volunteered.
“I’ve never met a Carlisle before,” she’d told him, and he’d only smirked.
“Nor I an Esme. One wonders why you are not a Mary, or a Margaret.”
And she’d returned his smile and his gentle banter. She had inquired where the unusual name had come from, and he had answered that perhaps it was his mother’s maiden name, and then she had asked after his mother, eliciting the same pained, faraway look that graced his features now as he explained how and when she had died...
“Not knowing what your father looked like,” Esme offered as he stared silently, “I wasn’t sure which of your features to subtract, but…”
The gulp was audible. “No,” her husband said quietly, “I imagine this is about right.” Another deep swallow, then: “What brought this on?”
She shrugged. “I’m not even sure myself.” Involuntarily, her right hand opened and closed, feeling the ghost of the charcoal still in her fingers. She sighed.
“Rosalie,” she said quietly.
Carlisle shot her a quizzical look.
“I suppose I was thinking about Rosalie. And how you left with her still angry.”
There were two stools in her studio, one before each easel, both unnecessary in the strictest sense, but they encouraged the right posture for sweeping her arm across wide paper or canvas. Carlisle pulled the second one near her and sat down, his lips suddenly pressed tight.
“She hates me,” he muttered.
Esme nodded. “Sometimes, yes. You don’t always make it easy for her.”
He thrust a hand into his hair, and the unruly lock fell through his fingers. When he spoke again, his voice was clipped with frustration. “I just want her to be happy.”
“You can’t force people to be happy, Carlisle.”
To her surprise, he chuckled. “You’d think that after what happened with Edward, I’d know that.”
She laughed in answer. Two years on, their mercurial son was beginning to recover from his shame and anger. Gentler songs came from the piano more often than not, and every now and then, even an original composition. Slowly, month by month, arpeggio by arpeggio, he was coming back to them.
“I suppose…” she began. When she hadn’t finished her sentence a moment later, Carlisle prodded.
“You suppose?”
She gestured. She had drawn the woman with the same tired but indulgently kind eyes her husband had. Eyes that suggested that whatever the person being looked on was wont to do, they would be forgiven. They would be loved.
“You have a daughter now,” she said gently. “I thought it might be helpful for you to remember that once, you had a mother, too.”
Her husband’s thin lips pressed together even more tightly, and she saw his adam’s apple move yet again. She stood up, brushing the charcoal off her fingertips against her skirt as she leaned in to kiss his cheek. She laid a hand on his shoulder briefly, then went down the stairs.
It was nearly two hours of listening to the piano later, watching Rosalie read and pretend not to care what Edward was playing, before Esme bothered to creep back up to her studio. The door was still open a crack, and the air was still thick with the smoked cinnamon that was her husband’s scent as she peeked inside.
Carlisle sat alone in the utter dark, his legs crossed, the moonbeams shading in through the window making his skin a translucent blue white as he gazed up into the portrait’s kind, pale eyes. Slowly, his hand crept from his side to reach out, the pad of his finger tracing the jawline she had sketched. And then it hung there, index finger outstretched, as though it was not the strong, assured hand of a surgeon but the beseeching hand of a child, reaching, desperately, across space and time.
Quietly, Esme pulled the door closed and went to find her daughter.

Which hogwart houses do you think nuest members belong to ?
OOOOOHHHHH WHAT AN INTERESTING QUESTION OK LEMME THINK
ok so i’m going to cheat a little and have some combined houses bc i think only one house can’t be enough to confine some of the members
Aron - Aron is a Gryffinpuff(?)/Huffledor(?) lol I don’t know what to call it
• he’s actually quite intelligent; he performed well in school and achieved a 2200 on his SAT (for reference, a 2400 is the full score and the Ivy League avg. is about 2150ish for the old SAT)
• during the Pledis auditions, he ranked first out of all the trainees who auditioned
• he learned the entirety of the Korean language in under a year
• he speaks 3 languages: english, japanese, and korean
BuT (why he’s a gryffindor too)
• he can be brash and say things without thinking first, which has gotten him into trouble multiple times
• He perspective towards life seems to be to dive headfirst into things, without looking back
• he rejected his admission to NYU/rejected his academic future path to fully and completely pursue kpop (if this isn’t the definition of “taking the leap”, I don’t know what is)
• he won’t really censor his thoughts and is frank and stubborn, which can both be good and bad
• though he is the oldest member, he acts as if he is the maknae~ he tends to live vicariously without regrets
Ren (Minki/Mingi) - slytherpuff(?)
Slytherin gets a lot of hate for being the “evil” house, but that’s not how it is–the house itself is one of the most loyal and unified, with traits just as impressive as those of Gryffindor
• Ren oozes self confidence and is one of the few androgynous well known kpop stars–when he was been attacked for his “effeminate” image by a rude interviewer, he coolly, elegantly put him down, without a crack in his facade. He doesn’t flinch at insults to his appearance and instead hides his pain and buries it
• as you could see on PD101, ren is extra as hell; he knows how to draw attention for his benefit
• slytherins can tend to come off as a bit arrogant or prideful, and Ren definitely knows how gorgeous he is (there are an infinite amount of times where he’s complimented his own looks, lol, he even did it on PD101)
• slytherins are extremely loyal to their own, and Ren is extraordinarily loyal to his group
Tumblr media
i giffed this a while back, but this was his reaction when he heard one of his labelmates dropped from top 11 (at the time he was the only one of NU’EST who wasn’t ranked within top 11)
• he’s been described as the most playful and mischievious, but he rarely laughs
• but Ren is a hufflepuff too, despite his seemingly cold exterior
• he is the maknae of the group, and if you have been Nu’est’s fan for a bit, you know the rest of the group spoil him and love him to death; he probably has the most skinship with the other members because they love him so much
• he is extremely selfless~ never once did he complain about being ranked lower than his fellow members, he was only happy they had made it so far
• he treats his fans like angels–there was a brother of a fan who ran into him at a cafe he goes to regularly and he remembered his name and greeted him every time they bumped into one another at the cafe from then on out
• he used to respond to private messages from fans and would comfort them through difficulties
• according to the other members, he complains the least
• he’s very tolerant of everyone and has encouraged fanboys to approach him as well, and he would be willing to hug them
• the younger trainees on PD101 all loved him and they stuck to him a lot; he was said to be a spirit raiser on the show
JR (Jonghyun) - ravenpuff(?) huffleclaw(?)
hufflepuff gets a lot of shit for being the “useless” house but there is nothing to be ashamed of if you are a hufflepuff
• nation’s leader, onibugi, is selfless almost to a fault
• he was the leader of Nu’est since he was 16(1!6!) an takes the failure of Nu’est onto himself; he always has carried the entire burden of the group on his shoulders
• in literally every group performance he was in, he was the leader and he stiLL nEVER gave himself more than a few lines (pun intended, but this was still so upsetting)
• he always puts the other group members before himself and looks over him as if he is their older brother, despite being younger than some of them. (look at the disappointment on his face when he saw Minhyun walk into D rank and Dongho when he forgot the lyrics during the grade reevaluation)
• he’s really friendly, despite being very introverted
• in fact, despite his natural introvertedness, he tries his best to push himself out of his own comfort zone so he can be warm to others and he has devised several ways for him to seem more extroverted (how selfless is this holy fuck)
• he’s also a ravenclaw, though
• he is a very capable leader who tries his best to avoid conflict by sorting the situation out
•ex. he could’ve been argumentative with Kwon Hyunbin when he wasn’t being an exemplary member and wasn’t pulling his weight, but he instead just talked some sense into him by mediating
• when he is quiet, it seems he is more analyzing and sorting out every situation silently. he seems to be a bit calculating so that he can approach problems more effectively.
• he is very driven and will push himself past boundaries–he was the only nu’est member who went up in grade reevaluations, going to rank B
• despite his position as leader and rapper, he can also dance very well and he does so passionately
• he can play the piano, the flute, the clarinet, the saxophone, the tuba, the drums, and the trombone (that’s 8 instruments!!!)
Baekho (Dongho) - Gryffinpuff (i know this is an oxymoron, but hear me out)
• he looks like a formidable, scary, guy, but he is actually the softest human being ever.
• he is always laughing, and the other members have said that if baekho isn’t laughing, there is something wrong (literally during the meringue time he just laughed the entire time even though he was just beating eggs)
• the other members refer to him as “baby tiger” despite his “sangnamja” appearance
• he’s been described as the most sincere and the most sensitive member
• he didn’t even purposefully audition for Pledis he actually went there with a friend for emotional support and then he was casted (if that isn’t the most hufflepuff thing you’ve ever heard)
• he can’t sleep without hugging someone
• he is very caring and friendly, despite the jungle music editing MNET used, he picked up a lot of friends on the show and was loved by a lot of the younger trainees; seonho said that he would only share his special mango snack with Dongho
• but Dongho is also a good Gryffindor
• one time he almost fought a drug dealer who had threatened him and the group (omfg wht)
• he is willing to take the lead to be a leader, on adopt101 he patiently and diligently helped Haknyeon with his parts
• he can be just as ambitious as anyone, though it may come off as a little headstrong~ his clases w/ Sewoon~ but it isn’t malintentioned
• his instincts are sharp, and he isn’t afraid to voice them--when he heard the voice doubling in Daehwi’s BIL team, he wasn’t hesitant to immediately call them out. In this way, he wants to act justly and fairly
• hufflepuffs typically hold peace over everything, including justice in some cases for the sake of avoiding conflict, but that isn’t the case for Dongho because he is the type to call people out on their BS, immediately
• savage as hell *when watching Jonghyun’s center audition* --dongho: *it would’ve been very good....if you couldn’t hear anything”
Minhyun (CEO/Emperor Hwang) - ravenpuff
• Minhyun got the title CEO Hwang for good reason, he was able to form an incredibly strong team from only short analysis after spending some time with them and he found very strong team dynamics within the people he chose; he knew what he was doing when he chose the Justice League team
• Minhyun is supposedly the most intelligent of the members of Nu’est (even though he can’t type for shit)
• he is incredibly dedicated to his “studies”; though not necessarily academic, he will put his all into learning and  applying himself and has been called the most applied of the nu’est members
• he worked incredibly hard in preparation for the grade eval according to the other trainees and hence was most expected to rise in grade; however, he failed the reevaluation because of sheer exhaustion
• when asked why he likes Minhyun so much, Seonho replied that “minhyun-hyung gives very good, practical advice”
• it may not be shown often, but I expect Minhyun is very intelligent (aside from the evaluation of group dynaimcs that formed the sorry, sorry team, he has shown that he can adapt successfully to several different concepts and master difficult dances even though he is a vocalist, and he dedicates his all to what he does)
• ravenclaws overlap with hufflepuff in their tendency to avoid all conflict, and this is very evident in Minhyun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• he consistently would check on the other members of his team, not wanting to overstep any boundaries or make anyone uncomfortable, and he was a key part in the harmony of each group
• despite being regarded as the “face” of the group along with Minki, he is still very humble and doesn’t talk much about his visuals
• he’s the motherly figure of the group, always nagging them to pick up after themselves and keeps their dorm relatively neat and orderly (how messy is their dorm gonna be for the next 1.5 years those hoes better keep it clean for him)
• he apparently always has body lotion in his bag, for both him and others to use (how considerate is this I’m gonna cry)
• he is allergic to salt and will react to his own sweat, but he bears through it to train and pursue his dream, proving his will and determination
this is probably way longer than you expected anon im sorry lolololololaslkjasfal;sdfja lsdfjsdfsdafjasdfla;dsf

My Friend is an Angel | Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Title: Smiles and Laughs
Genre: fluff, angst
Word count: 2k
JIMIN’S POV:
As Taehyung and I jog around the campus for our daily routine, a sudden thought crosses my mind.
“Ah, that’s right. We have an exam tomorrow morning” I think aloud
“Shit! I totally forgot about it! Agh...I’m totally going to fail…” Taehyung complains before coming to a slow stop to catch his breath, and as the realization sets in his head falls down slowly in defeat.
Noticing this, I stop right beside him to catch my breath and look at Taehyung while I give him a soft pat on his back.
“Aish, don’t say stuff like that. You’ll do well as long as you have been working on your research paper.”
“You see, that’s the problem. I’ve been playing Overwatch this whole week that I didn’t even touch the research paper. Why do you think I’ve been waking up late?”
A big sigh goes through my lips before bluntly stating: “*Sigh*...you’re screwed”
A pout comes from his lips and looks at me just as a puppy looks at it’s owner for a treat.
“Ahh..why is this happening to me??!”
“Hahaha, so cute. I was just joking, Tae. You are pretty smart so you’ll do fine.”
Seeing him act like a little kid, I couldn’t help but let out a small laugh and give him a tiny pinch on his nose.
Taehyung would sometimes act like a little kid, and I’d find that a very cute, although sometimes annoying, side of him. Whenever he needed help or just wanted attention, he would pout and give you his puppy eyes making you feel guilty but soft at the same time that you couldn’t help but help the poor kid.
“No, but I want to get a higher score than you!”
“You are still thinking of beating my rank in the class?” I scoff at his sudden reply.
“Hell yeah! I want to stop paying every time we go to the PC cafe. Also I want to stop paying for the snacks you eat all the time at the cafe, Jimin”
“Hahaha, alright alright. Let’s head back to the dorms and shower. I’ll help you study for the exam”
“Really??!! YES! Thank you Jimin~ You’re the best!”
Following his excited reply he puts both of his hands on my shoulders and  pulls me into a tight hug. I laugh at his reaction as the both of us, with a big smile on our faces, head back to our dorms.
The last bell finally rings and both Taehyung and I head out of class to go grab some snacks from the store outside the campus.
‘Well I have to help Tae cram as much as he can, so we’ll probably be staying out late.’ I think to myself before continuing, ‘I should probably buy some snacks.’ Finishing my thought. Afterwards taking a quick glance at him I realize… ‘He eats… a lot. Better buy a lot of snacks.’
‘Maybe grab some shrimp chips, choco pies, and rice crackers while I get some poky, and some cookies.’ I list in my head before repeating it to the snack vendor.
“Can we get mochi ice cream too?” Asked Taehyung with tiny sparks in his eyes, clearly wanted to have some ice cream.
“Sure. Let’s get strawberry mochi, they’re my favorite. We can eat it on our way back to the dorms.”
Hearing this the snack vendor takes out a box of strawberry flavored mochi ice cream, he hands out all the snacks that he chose and after I pay, we start to walk back with arms full of heavenly snacks.
On our way back, we open the box of the mochi ice scream and start munching on the soft and chewy snack. I lick my lips every time I take a bite of the amazingly powdery snack. Taehyung starts humming and smiles with every bite he takes clearly enjoying the ice cream.
“Oh?” Taehyung stops and looks closely at the mochi on his hand.
“What’s wrong?” I ask Taehyung.
We stop walking and he then turns to look at me with a thoughtful expression, then looks back to the mochi, then back to me, and to the mochi again. Now putting the mochi next to my face, he squints his eyes and keeps looking at the mochi on his hand and me. Taehyung, staring at me lets out a small chuckle, few seconds later it turns into a loud laughter with a pure smile. Being clueless of what he is thinking I look at him with a puzzled expression.
“What?? Why are you laughing??
“Hahaha...this-this..reminds me of you..HAHAHA”
Struggling, Taehyung finally answers me on why he is laughing. Being a bit surprised, a bit baffled, I let out a small laugh which then forms into a louder one. I can’t believe Tae just compared me with a mochi. Still laughing I ask him:
“What do you mean it reminds you of me?”
“Well, this mochi is small like you, your cheeks are as soft, squishy, and pink as pink mochi, so it reminds me of you.”
“Aish, this kid.” I mutter under my breath before finishing, “Who are you calling small, huh?? Just because I’m a few centimeters shorter than you doesn’t mean I’m small!”
I grab Taehyung by his neck and put him in a headlock while I ruffle his soft brown hair.
“Hahaha, you’re not only small, your hands are small too haha! You have small baby hands hahaha”
“Shut up Tae!” I retort by elbowing him in the ribs.
“Hahaha, okay okay I’ll stop...let’s go back quickly so you can help me then” He finishes
“Alright. Next time you are buying snack for calling me small” I finish with a slight pout to my lips.
Releasing him from the headlock, we began to walk back to our school dorms and continue to eat the ice cream with joy.
“Okay. That looks good! We’re done studying” I tell Taehyung stretching both arms up.
“Really? That was all? That was actually not that bad”
“Of course. It’s just that you decided to procrastinate and play Overwatch instead” I state blankly
“Shut up, you procrastinate too! It’s just that I procrastinate more...anyways, do you want to go play video games?” He asks me.
Taehyung is the type to study for 2 hours and then play videogames or watch videos for 8 hours straight then forget about his responsibilities. Sometimes he would write 3 words on his essays then take a 5 hours break on the computer but in the end he would forget about his paper and go to sleep without finishing it or even starting it… He really is something else.
“Ah...I have work in 10 minutes, sorry Tae” I tell Taehyung with a bit of guilt in my voice. I know that he really likes to play games, and he enjoys playing them more if we’re playing with him.
“Mm, okay. It’s fine Jimin, really. Go now, you are going to be late, hurry go!” Taehyung tells me while pushing me out the door.
“Okay okay, I’m leaving now haha I’ll see you after I’m done working, bye Tae!”
“Yes, yes goodbye Jimin~”
                                                A few minutes later
Taehyung’s POV:
Since I don’t have work today, I go lay down on my bed and look at the ceiling while listening to some music. I’m pretty bored without Jimin here. I usually play games or watch TV when he goes to work, but for some reason today I just don’t have the energy to play games or do anything. It’s as if whenever I’m with Jimin, I have energy for everything. It’s as if I were a flower and Jimin my sun. The sun that every flower needs in order to grow, to bloom, to live.
I check my phone to look at the time and it reads 3:50PM. It has been an hour and some minutes since Jimin left. I look up from my phone to stare at the alstroemerias sitting on top of the desk. I get up grabbing a water bottle sitting next to the flowers and feed them some water then I go back to my original position. With every second that passes as I look at the beautiful flowers, the more I yearn for Jimin.
“I should go visit Jimin since I have nothing else to do right now” I tell myself.
I go to my contacts and send a message to Jimin. ‘Meet me in 15 minutes at the north park’
With that, I grab my sweater, keys, phone and wallet and head out to the park.
It takes me shorter than I thought to walk to the park. I arrive there at 3:59PM, one minute before 4 o’clock. My favorite time of the day. I sit on a bench and wait.
It’s finally 4 o’clock, and I wait there, for my best friend to come. I hear some birds singing beautifully joined with some childrens’ laughters.
“Where are you?”
I ask myself as I sit on the bench. The sun getting ready to go to sleep, it sets little by little. The light blue and light orange slowly turning into a dark blue color. I wait there, for my best friend to come. The wind blowing, going through the thin fabric of my sweater tearing away the warmth from my arms and chest. The cool, light wind giving my body chills. I close my eyes to let the wind embrace me. I take in a deep breath smelling the grassy plants and the white chrysanthemum.
“Oh, Taehyung!”
A familiar voice breaks my endless thoughts. I look to see where that voice came from. It’s Jimin. The friend I’ve been waiting for.
“Sorry, did you wait long?” Jimin asks
“No, not really. I was just thinking a bit, and looking at the sky” I reply
He sits next to me on the bench. We both take a few minutes to contemplate the graceful and calm evening. We keep staring at the sky for a few more minutes then Jimin breaks the silence
“So...is there something you want to tell me for you to call me here?”
“Uh, not really haha. I guess I was pretty bored. Also, the weather is nice today so I just wanted to spend the evening outside”
I answer Jimin rubbing the back of my neck and look down at my feet with a shy smile. I turn to look at Jimin who is already staring at me with that delicate bright smile that only he has.
“Haha, so you just wanted to hang out?” He questions.
“Yeah, just hang out haha” I say, but for some reason this time my voice wavering a bit
“Alright. Well let’s just enjoy the nice view of the sky” He says and looks up to the sky still smiling. His eyes were sparkling just like the stars up in the sky. His cheeks have a slight pink tinge on them just like the light pink that paints the sky at the end of the day.
I really just wanted to hang out with Jimin because I was bored and missed him slightly, but now with him by my side, multiple thoughts start to appear in my mind. All of them about Jimin.
Some of the thoughts were how happy and glad I am to have someone like Jimin in my life. The sheer happiness he gives me is immeasurable. I’m glad to have the opportunity to sit next to him like this and appreciate the calm evening. Glad that we get to fool around and play games together. Glad that we get to go to the same university, and live in the same dorm. Glad to see his pure and angelic smile and hear his laugh everyday. Glad to be best friends with him. Glad that we met. If there were words to justify how glad I am just to have him by my side, I would say them… but in the end I am just truly glad Jimin exists.
A/N: Hello guys! I really hope you guys enjoyed this chapter as well :) Since this is longer than last chapter it took me a bit longer and I also started school again (ugh lol) so I didn’t have as much time. I also want to thank one of my friends (polar bear) for helping me editing this story, thank you so much! Next chapter will be up soon, so please keep reading~

Kevin Cage of @spotlightsaga reviews… American Gods (S01E03) Head Full of Snow Airdate: May 14, 2017 @stzamericangods Ratings: 0.716 Million :: 0.28 18-49 Demo Share Score: 9.25/10
**********SPOILERS BELOW**********
It’s amusing to see all the ‘WTF?!’ comments and viewers delightfully claiming they have ‘no idea what’s going on’, but vacantly profess to love it anyway. It’s that type of attitude that gives episodes that aren’t quite up to par (see American God’s opener 'The Bone Orchard’) a pass with the masses, even when the following two episodes blow it away in substance and scrupulously crafted content… Each scene in both 'The Secret of Spoons’ & the currently reviewed 'Head Full of Snow’ not only yields the visual feast the first episode provided, it tacks on a rich backbone for the series to craft its wages of war on.
If the Gods we have come to meet in E1 & E2 are crafty, violent, or manipulative…even all consuming… then the Gods in E3 are grounded, compassionate, and gentle… A juxtaposition shown in spades in both The Jinn (Mousa Kraish) and Anubis, the Egyptian God of Death & Mummification (Chris Obi). Anubis’ introduction is calming and somber, even when he rips out Mrs. Fadil’s heart to weigh its virtues to decide her fate. Before that act he tastes her cooking to give her a final validation and also allows her to fix her clothing on her corpse, granting her dignity in her post-final moments. This is an amazing lens to view the inevitable and final act of death in, one I hope to see when the final spurt of DMT transmits my consciousness through the forbidden fractals of human eradication and takes me to wherever those doors of psychedelia have promised me a peaceful home in the endless and vast experience of infinity.
The Jinn’s scenes are literally spellbinding… A down on his luck salesman shackled to his current help by his relative, Salim (Omid Abtahi) selling trinkets of little value hops into a cab that will forever change his life… Guess there are advantages to not taking Uber after all. Salim exchanges stories with The Jinn… The audience is immediately keyed in as the The Jinn is wearing dark sunglasses at night in New York in the pouring rain. He drifts off at a stop after revealing he’d been driving the cab for 36-hours straight… Giving way for Salim to lean in close as the camera keeps a steady lock erupting in anticipation on his hand as he gently toggles The Jinn awake, exposing the literal fire in his eyes.
Upon this fiery revelation, Salim reveals he has an understanding of The Jinn’s existence and struggle through a story told by a relative from his home country. As The Jinn confesses his frustrations with his current job driving a taxi, Salim once again draws forward and this time advances in and caresses the same shoulder he once toggled to wake him… A gesture that’s met with a sultry return. If there was any question as to their brewing sexual chemistry, Salim hops out of the cab and tells The Jinn that he’s in Room 318 right as a beautiful woman hops in the backseat barking out directions. The camera immediately cuts to an titled, low angle, claustrophobic shot of Salim & The Jinn riding the elevator together to the 3rd floor, slowly holding steady, rattling the romantic suspense, until they carefully grab for each other’s hands. Can you tell I loved this scene? Oh yeah… But it’s the following scene that absolutely floors me and takes my growing appreciation and attachment to 'American Gods’ to burgeoning new heights.
“I wish you could see what I see,” Salim tenderly expresses his amazement as The Jinn exits the bathroom in just a towel. His rugged features are highlighted by the perfect lighting… His swelling, seasoned hyper-masculinity, hairy chest, thick beard, and actual fiery eyes contrast to Salim’s soft, more angular but still masculine features. The towel drops and I want to say that The Jinn’s most definitely is wearing a prosthetic cock… As a purist, and a lover of the *natural* human form, of both male and female… I do wish they would have used Mousa’s real nude body, all of it… Not just because I admire him, but because it gives boys and men (and females too, most definitely females) a false idea of what real male genitalia is like. Not that what Mousa is sporting here, a flaccid wonder, doesn’t exist in the world… And I did consider that they chose the prosthetic because it was a God and they wanted to really vitalize Jinn’s masculinity and godliness, even making his presence intimidating, complimenting the fire shooting from his eyes… But for the record, if that’s what Mousa is like flaccid then Salim must be a pro. It’s really my only complaint, a small (technically huge) one at that, to an otherwise perfect scene.
A passionate, gay Muslim sex scene… Yes. In 2017. The music, the drums, the fluidity of their motion, the close-ups, the juxtaposition of Mousa’s weathered, rugged body and Omid’s vibrant, smooth skin, the flesh colored sheets, the sudden transportation into the starry, sand soaked dessert as a backdrop, Mousa’s thrusting, transference of energy and fire into Omid’s body, moving from his bottom half where he is being entered towards his solar plexus… The fire escaping his mouth and lighting up his green eyes, eventually setting them ablaze… And back into reality where Omid lays vulnerably on his soft sheets, in complete awe, fading into darkness…. PHEEEEEEWWWW! Not since 2015, when Netflix’s Sense8 rocked the world with their polysexual orgy scene to Fatboy Slim & Macy Gray’s 'Demons’ have we seen a sex scene this intensely and shockingly erotic. The metaphors within 'American Gods’ literally slam you over the head with a hammer, but it works. The Jinn’s fiery nature certainly translates into the bedroom… And I don’t care what the rest of 2017 has in store for us… I’m calling this this 'The Best Sex Scene of The Year’.
Salim awakens by himself, but The Jinn’s clothes are left on the floor… In them are the keys to a taxi and a brand new identification card. Jinn’s may not grant wishes, but they certainly have a way of altering people’s lives right when they need it the most… As clearly the man in the identification card is neither The Jinn or Omid. Something tells me that won’t stop Omid from living out his new life to the fullest extent. What does that say about Americans? You tell me… What can I say, it’s a melting pot but all the ingredients seem to separate when boiled.
Mr Wednesday (Ian McShane) has an ironically intense and passionate scene with Zorya Vechernyaya (Cloris Leachman) sharing a buzz-worthy kiss that proves that even the elderly are human and spark a bit of electricity now and again. Coincidentally, Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) meets the unseen third Zorya Sister, Zorya Polunochnaya (Erika Kaar), and is kissed innocently, but ambush style, as Zorya explains she has never kissed a man before… And yeah even Shadow is unable to pronounce her last name, good thing the three sisters share a first name and not a last. Unlike her other sisters, this Zorya is young & beautiful and watches the stars to make sure a beast stays trapped in the midst of space. She reaches out and grabs the moon and literally gives it to Shadow… How many time-worn lovers have promised that one? This Zorya can do it! And it brings good fortune to Shadow, who awakens to re-challenge Czernobog (Peter Stormare) in another game of checkers and wins both his life back and the strength of Czernobog & his trust hammer in the impending fight of the Gods.
Shadow and Mr Wednesday continue on their journey, strategically robbing a bank in the most inventive way possible, much to Shadow’s opposition. Though the more Shadow is introduced to this strange new world of Gods where anything is possible, roads are made of marshmallows, he himself can will it to snow, and Leprechauns named Mad Sweeney (Pablo Schreiber) that are close to 7 feet tall can lose his lucky coin and are plagued without with bad luck (even 'A Good Samaritan’, played by the legendary Scott Thompson is killed immediately upon giving him a lift), the more that Shadow becomes comfortable and sound in his surroundings. As the episode closes out and Sweeney digs at Laura Moon’s grave to retrieve his lucky coin, he reaches her final resting place and finds that the coin Shadow had flipped onto her gravesite and sank into the ground had penetrated the coffin leaving a coin size hole near the top… Slick cut editing shows Sweeney revealing an empty grave and Shadow opening his hotel to Laura Moon, who casually remarks… 'Hi, puppy.’ Yup. You’re watching 'American Gods’.

Klaroline Infinity + Fusion
So this is my take on The Wedding Date, not sure if you've seen it but it's a great film. I have changed some of the circumstances to suit my story but the general premise is the same. Words in italics at the beginning are from the film, the title is a song from the soundtrack.
Also, Happy Birthday, lovely Camille (SweetyK and @my-light-into-the-darkness) this is dedicated to you! I know I always say this but you are one of the brightest lights in our fandom and have the awesome ability to keep up our spirits and bring us all together.
Synopsis: Caroline's cousin is getting married, the only problem is that she's marrying her ex-fiance. What's a girl to do in this awkward situation? Enter male escort Klaus Mikaelson...
Breathless (Full version)
The Roosevelt Hotel, New Orleans
Welcome Drinks: Wednesday PM
"Close your eyes. Close your eyes," he murmured, leaning in closer and making her fall back against the elevator wall, his dark blue eyes trained on her. "Close... your... eyes." Caroline hadn't known him long but she figured when he had to repeat himself Klaus Mikaelson meant business. She did as she was told, trying to ignore just how spicy his aftershave was as it infiltrated her nostrils.
"You're safe. You can relax. I'm not going to kiss you." If Caroline was being honest that wouldn't be an altogether bad thing if he did, those crimson lips had been hypnotising her since they first met at JFK the day before.
"He's going to be so sorry he lost you, so stop worrying. Forget the past. Forget the pain." Easier said than done she was tempted to reply but Caroline figured he wouldn't appreciate the interruption.
"And remember what an incredible woman you are. You do that and he'll realise what he lost." Caroline was breathless, not sure if it was his supposedly heartfelt words or his close proximity until she realised he did this for a living and was an expert. She finally peeled open one eye.
"Holy crap. You're worth every penny." She uttered, opening the other one. Caroline couldn't miss his amusement, a smirk tugging at those kissable lips.
"And don't you forget it," he boasted just as the elevator dinged indicating their arrival, Klaus finally moving out of her personal space and adjusting his tie in the mirror on the back wall. If there was one thing she was certain about it was that the man could wear a suit. She wondered what was underneath said suit but mentally scolded herself for even going there, he was a paid escort after all and nothing else. In four days time they'd go their separate ways.
Caroline shook her head trying to get rid of the residual dizziness. She was paying him to distract other people not her. She may have momentarily lost it as they rode the elevator to welcome drinks at the rooftop bar but she wasn't expecting him to get so up close and personal. Klaus was now holding the lift door open and looked over curiously as she smoothed her blonde tresses and took a deep breath.
"You look gorgeous, love," he smiled, those stray dimples she'd discovered by accident on the airplane making an unwelcome appearance given she needed to concentrate. She looked down at her black, Stella McCartney dress hoping that her last minute splurge on such an expense piece of apparel would pay dividends and make that ass wish he'd never broken her heart.
She walked out of the elevator and towards the brilliant, poolside bar. Talk about picturesque. It was a beautiful spring evening and the sun had begun to set in brilliant streaks of pinks and oranges across the sky. People were mingling and it didn't take Caroline long to pick out the future bride and groom in the crowd. They were talking to her Aunt Sarah, his arm slung familiarly around her shoulders, making Caroline's skin crawl.
"That dress just screams skanky ho," a familiar voice interrupted her thoughts. "It's quite fitting though really."
"Katherine," she chided.
"Hey, it's not like you weren't thinking the same thing, Care," she shot back. "I'm just willing to admit it aloud. Oh yummy, I did so good." She purred, perusing her date slowly. Klaus regarded the brunette, his perplexed expression not lost on Caroline.
"Klaus, this is Katherine Pierce and yes she's always that direct," she said. "She's the one who concocted this little plan."
"Well, given the way every female in this room is drooling, I'm pretty certain my plan is already having the desired effect."
"Nice to meet you, Katherine," he replied cordially, giving her a slight nod of acknowledgment. He really was well trained, if only he wasn't just like this because he was being paid. "How do you two know each other then?"
"We've been besties since I pushed her over for kissing Harry Mackenzie during a game of kiss chasey when we were five," she explained, making Klaus raise his eyebrows slightly. "Don't worry Romeo, I prefer brunettes, you're perfectly safe from my feminine clutches."
"I'm certainly relieved," he conceded. "So, given the obvious animosity towards the bride I'm wondering how you scored an invite to this wedding?"
"Hayley doesn't have any friends, not surprisingly, so she invited mine. Where is Bonnie by the way?" Caroline asked.
"Late as usual," she replied, rolling her eyes. "She has always wanted what Caroline has so inviting us to her ex-fiance's wedding is typical. I came here to support Caroline but if I'm being honest, I wanted to be present if and when that cow falls flat on her bony ass."
"You really do say exactly what you think," he commented. "Reminds me of my little sister."
"By the tone of your voice, I'm not sure being compared to your sister is a very good thing," she drawled.
"Katherine stop interrogating Klaus," Caroline hissed.
"Truthfully it's probably not the best compliment I could have given."
"I like him, that honesty is surprisingly refreshing," she chuckled. "Unlike your sleazy excuse for an ex-fiance. I'd pay to see him ass up too and so much more."
"Katherine."
"What? I'm being so reserved right now, you have no idea about all the other scenarios that have been going through my mind. In fact, how about we play some games of our own at the Bachelorette Party tomorrow night?"
"Katherine, I told you I'm not interested. I intend to be the bigger person."
"Well, that's not difficult," she snorted. Before Caroline could respond her mother appeared. Given her sister was Hayley's mother she was determined to try and repair the family rift, not that Caroline blamed her but begging her to attend after her initial refusals had been a surprise. She'd always been the type of person to shy away from drama but she also wasn't one to defy her family. Hence part of the reason she was here and with the much needed support of an escort.
"Oh darling, you're here," she exclaimed, pulling her into her arms. If she was being honest, Caroline and her mother hadn't always been very close. She was always daddy's girl but after Bill died they'd attempted to bond. You could say it was still very much a work in progress. "And don't you look so pretty."
"Thanks mom," she answered awkwardly, feeling like she was five years old again.
"And who is this?" She asked, staring her date down. Caroline had endeavoured to prepare herself for the situation but it was still so weird. Caroline didn't like to lie, it wasn't in her make-up.
"I'm Klaus," he interrupted noting her brief silence. It was as if he could read her emotions. "Caroline's date."
"Well, it's nice to meet you Klaus," she smiled. "I had no idea you were seeing anyone, darling."
"I..," Caroline stuttered.
"We actually met at Central Park, my pet husky Bear wouldn't leave her alone. I figure that's the best endorsement I could ever hope to get," he joked, interrupting. Caroline couldn't believe how good he was at this lying thing, she really needed some tips.
"Isn't that so sweet, Liz?" Katherine cooed, her acting skills on point as usual.
"It is," Liz agreed. "I must say Caroline has always been so picky, so it's nice to see the two of you here together."
"I'm just honoured someone amazing like your daughter chose me, Mrs Forbes," he murmured, placing his arm protectively around her shoulders and pulling her closer. Caroline was trying to ignore the reverberations that were coursing through her body as he verbalised those thoughts. She had to keep reminding herself that he was actually her employee and nothing else.
"Well, aren't you a keeper. In fact, I have so many family members here who would just love to make your acquaintance, Klaus." Before Caroline could object he'd been dragged away. She felt sorry for him but on second thought she was paying for his services after all. She'd much prefer he schmoozed while she sat quietly in away in the corner.
"Caroline! It's so lovely to see you!" Hayley interrupted, throwing her arms around her. Caroline couldn't miss Katherine's raised eyebrows as she all but suffocated her.
"Yeah, uh thanks," was all she could manage. When things ended abruptly between her and Stefan they'd both been quick to deny any cheating claims when they announced their relationship only three months later, but Caroline knew the truth. It was all too much of a coincidence.
"This is going to be such an amazing five days, starting with the Bachelorette Party at Republic tomorrow," she squealed. It was taking all her willpower not to slap that silly smile off her face, it was the very least she deserved.
"Yeah, I hear that Republic is a burlesque club, I'm assuming you're going to wow us with some of the pole dancing skills you've acquired from working at that strip club," Katherine interrupted, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Oh Katherine you're hilarious, I know I invited you to my wedding for a reason," she giggled. "I better get back to my other guests, I'll speak to you both later." Before either could reply, she'd sauntered away and was latching herself onto another poor relative, she always did love being the centre of attention.
"I vote we take a picture of her mid pole dance and post it on social media."
"Katherine," she growled. "I told you, I'm trying to be the bigger person here so no unauthorised photography of any kind, promise me."
"You're no fun," she mumbled. "I have every intention of letting loose tomorrow night and I can't be responsible for my possibly drunken and unkind remarks. Uh, hello Caroline?" She'd been a little distracted watching intently as Klaus was interrogated by her immediate family. Given what she knew about him he was more than capable but Caroline couldn't help but be a little anxious about the whole situation.
"Yeah," she replied, unconvincingly.
"He can handle this," Katherine offered, looking over at Klaus. "In fact, I'm pretty certain they are trying not to openly flirt with him right now. It's those dimples I tell you."
"Or those lips," she murmured, thinking that she had already been equally affected, not that she'd ever admit that aloud. "All I know is that I need a stiff drink, like right now."
W Hotel - New Orleans
Post Bachelorette Party - Friday AM
The hotel room door slammed shut waking Klaus from his deep slumber. He opened his eyes and searched the dark room trying to gain his bearings. After a moment of uncertainty he realised he was in their hotel room in New Orleans. It was an occupational hazard but for some reason he still felt slightly confused.
Klaus had always wanted to be a corporate attorney growing up and never imagined he'd ever take this particular career path back then. He'd been struggling with his college tuition costs and found the escort business to be an easy way to make the cash he needed quickly. Once he'd graduated, Klaus had gone on to work as a lawyer but found himself frustrated by its inflexibility and the fact he could earn more being a full time escort.
Some would consider what he did to be morally questionable but Klaus knew he was helping people in his own way. Plus it also gave him an excuse not to have to emotionally invest in a real relationship. He'd been there once before and had no intention of ever getting hurt like that again. It wasn't until he'd heard her voice over the phone that Klaus had felt something.
She was beautiful as he found out at JFK but it wasn't just that. When she called initially, Klaus had immediately sensed her fragile tone. It wasn't unusual given most people who used his services had some emotional baggage, but to Klaus she also sounded strangely hopeful and that had stuck with him. Her innocence was charming but it was her deep convictions and that rare but playful element of feistiness she showed which had slightly thown him off his game. He didn't do weddings as a strict rule for personal reasons but she'd convinced him otherwise and here he was playing the role of the perfect wedding date.
When they'd first arrived in their room a few days earlier, she'd been adorably coy and equally distracted pretending that they weren't in fact sharing a bed. Klaus knew she would have preferred separate rooms but it was necessary to keep up their facade.
Caroline had left for the bachelorette party earlier, his jaw had just about dropped and Klaus was trying not to stare at just how amazing she looked poured into a white, fitted, dress highlighting her spring tan. The bride to be had absolutely nothing on her. Klaus would be lying if she hadn't crossed his mind multiple times over the course of the evening. He'd begrudgingly agreed to go to the Bachelor Party, regretting it immediately when he found himself surrounded by Stefan, his insufferable brother Damon and his drunk college mates at the Omni Bar.
"So, you're the new guy?" Stefan had asked, slurring as he said it. Klaus had noticed him eyeing him from across the bar for most of the evening. They'd so far only exchanged curt greetings and Klaus had no intention of talking to him any further after how he treated Caroline.
"New guy?" Klaus said, feigning innocence.
"Caroline's latest distraction to try and get over me."
"Sounds like somebody who obviously spends way too much time in the mirror doing his hair and his over inflated ego is jealous."
"Why would I be jealous, have you seen my wife to be?" Just when Klaus didn't think he could hate this guy anymore he had to go and prove him wrong.
"She's got nothing on Caroline and you and I both know that, mate. You can't buy the sort of grace, intelligence and beauty she possesses." Stefan was silent momentarily almost like he was trying to work out how to rebut something he knew was true.
"Fellas?" Damon, interrupted throwing his arms around them both. 'Are we playing nice? How about another drink?"
"Suddenly I'm not so thirsty anymore," Klaus responded. He'd left shortly after, what Caroline saw in that idiot he'd never understand. He was just happy that she wasn't marrying him.
"Someone's being boring," she sing songed, making her way into the bedroom. Klaus could tell by her slurring that she was indeed plastered. "Wake up, sleepy head!" Before he could utter some response about waking him the bedside lamp had been turned on, illuminating the room. Klaus attempted to bury his head under the pillow but his drunken roommate pulled it away from him.
"Someone's being a tad inconsiderate," he growled, attempting to wrestle the pillow from her playful grasp but failing. He was also trying to ignore just how beautiful she still looked after a big night her blonde waves slightly messy but at the same time sexy as hell. He also couldn't ignore the swell of her creamy breasts peeking out teasingly from her dress from this angle.
"How about if I make it up to you? You know I learnt some moves tonight that I think you might like," she teased. Klaus was initially excited and every fibre of his being was trying to stop imagining her naked. She pushed down her dress strap slowly and this was when he knew he had to intervene even when every part of his body was screaming for her to continue.
"No, we shouldn't do this, Caroline."
"You don't want me," she rasped drunkenly. They'd only met a few days ago but Klaus knew this wasn't the real Caroline. Her emotions were all over the place, not that he blamed her and the added alcohol wasn't helping things either. His instincts were willing him to move closer, kiss those pink lips and then wrap his arms around her but it wasn't professional and Klaus knew it.
"How about a bedtime story instead?" He offered, her surprised expression not lost on Klaus. "I happen to know this amazing story about a girl named Cinderella and some dwarfs, possibly seven."
"Cinderella and the seven dwarfs? I think you've got your fairy tales mixed up."
"Hey! Who's telling this bedtime story? Anyway, call it creative license. I might even get a little crazy and throw in a big, bad wolf," he smiled. "Interested at all, love?"
"Strangely, yes," she chuckled. "Let me change and I'll be right with you."
The Creole Queen - Mississippi River
Rehearsal Dinner - Friday PM
Caroline rested against the railing as the riverboat slowly made its way down the Mississippi. She shouldn't have been surprised that Hayley chose to have her rehearsal dinner on a boat, she always liked to make a statement. Although you couldn't get more New Orleans than this and she had to admit the passing scenery was pretty and better than what was inside for sure. She'd been seated at that dinner table desperate to escape, much like the rest of this wedding circus.
It also didn't help that she'd been seated so close to Klaus all evening, especially after throwing herself at him. Caroline still couldn't believe she'd done that, yes she was drunk but it still didn't make what she did any better. As she woke up with a blinding headache and dry mouth the events of the previous night had flooded back and she froze with fear, hoping to god that Klaus wasn't lying beside her. She'd been relieved to realise he'd already gone out for his morning jog. Caroline had gotten ready as fast as she could given her hangover and had left the room determined to get some space between them.
"Do you think anyone would notice if I pushed Hayley overboard?" Caroline shook her head and turned around.
"You have been around Katherine too long," she drawled, looking into her friend's familiar brown eyes.
"You may be right but I still think the idea has merit. If we're lucky maybe Stefan and his stupid hero hair will follow her overboard."
"One can hope," she sighed.
"What's wrong, Care? Well, you know besides the obvious, unholy ex-fiance slash cousin union?"
"I think that's enough to be upset about don't you?"
"Probably but that doesn't explain why you've barely spoken to your supposed date all through dinner, not only that you could hardly even look him the eye. Given just how pretty that face is, I have no idea how you can not stare."
"You really have been around Katherine too long," she quipped.
"Did he do or say something wrong? I hope he's keeping things professional."
"No, that was all me doing wrong things and being completely unprofessional," she mumbled, the embarrasment of earlier that morning rushing back all over again.
"Well, that was a guess but now I'm intrigued. What the hell happened? You my dear are the epitome of professional."
"You know how we were ridiculously drunk last night..."
"I can't exactly remember it so I suppose the answer to that is a definite yes."
"I sort of came back to the hotel and propositioned him," she whispered, too ashamed to admit her drunken actions any louder. "I may have even tried to pull out some burlesque moves."
"Oh sweetie, now that explains the whole non communication thing tonight."
"It was mortifying Bonnie," she whined. "Granted I was too drunk at the time to fully realise just how embarrasing the situation was but as soon as I woke up this morning it hit me, along with that unattractive hangover."
"Maybe it wasn't as bad as you think. What exactly happened? What did he say? What did he do? What did you do?"
"Could you ask any more questions, Bonnie? He just said we couldn't do it and then offered to read me a bedtime story instead."
"Okay, that response I wasn't expecting. A bedtime story? What are you, five?"
"It was actually kind of adorable and funny, especially given I'd just thrown myself at him and he'd had to reject me. Klaus has some interesting takes on fairytales that's for sure. I'd say that's the last time I'm going to drink but god knows I need it to deal with this whole wedding situation."
"Adorable and funny? Oh, I see what this is, you like him."
"I don't."
"Yes because I proposition people I don't like all the time. Come on Caroline, you'd have to be blind not to find the guy attractive."
"He's my escort, you know the guy I'm paying for his services..."
"Who also happens to be coming this way," she warned gesturing behind Caroline. "I'll make myself scarce."
"Bonnie, please don't leave me alone," she pleaded.
"You're going to have to clear the air sometime, Care," she whispered, sending him a smile and walking away. Some friend she was leaving Caroline to fend for herself.
"So, this is where the party is?" He asked, joining her by the railing, his arm accidentally grazing hers in the process. Caroline shivered involuntarily, moving it away quickly. "Are you okay, love?"
"Uh yeah just a little cold I guess," she replied feebly. Given the current temperature it was probably a story too difficult to believe.
"I'd give you my jacket if I had one."
"Such a gentleman, is that all part of your escort services?"
"Hey, I resent that," he scoffed. "I would give you my jacket even if I wasn't an escort. You know chivalry isn't completely dead, Caroline."
"Is this the part where you say that romance is still well and truly alive too?"
"Romance is another matter entirely, I'm not sure I'm the best person to talk about it," he admitted.
"Well, given my past and the fact that my former fiance and cousin cheated on me and now I'm a guest at their wedding, I wouldn't have any clue about that sort of thing."
"It's not your fault, love."
"Well, excuse me if I don't feel partially responsible for not seeing what was in front of my face the entire time," she murmured. "Which also kind of takes me to the elephant in the room. I'm sorry that I tried..."
"Don't," he interrupted holding his hand to her lips. "You have nothing to be ashamed about. The fact you have come here even after everything that happened and can be so strong is inspirational. You are one of the stongest women I've ever met, Caroline Forbes."
"I wouldn't go that far," she murmured, her cheeks flushing slightly.
"I would," he reiterated, their gazes locked, blue eyes on blue. Caroline knew she was in trouble all over again. Why did she have to hire such an attractive date? "It's not that I don't find you attractive, because I do so much. In fact, it's killing me not to tell you that I really..."
"You're only saying that because I made a fool of myself last night." She looked at him wordlessly.
"You have to undertsand that I need to be professional in my work. But I can't help..." They stared at each other for a prolonged period before some unwanted noise from nearby interrupted their reverie.
Before Caroline could reply to the obvious sexual tension, a very familiar brunette approached them in all her glory. "I may kill myself from this prolonged pain, why isn't this unholy union final yet? I have way more important things I could be doing right now."
"You and me both," Caroline joked, excited to see the equally pleased face on her fake date. "Maybe we should all be jumping overboard."
"I don't like cold water," Katherine offered, looking into the river below. "Plus my hair doesn't look so good wet."
"I'm with you Katherine, these curls are an absolute bastard to control, you have no idea," he joked. His crimson lips turned into an adorable smile. When he said he was attracted to her Caroline wasn't quite sure what to take from it. After last night she had every intention of being well behaved, unfortunately his expression though was telling her something very different.
The Chicory - St Peters Street, New Orleans
Wedding - Saturday PM
"What the hell is going on?" Bonnie whispered to Katherine, their looks turning to Caroline seated nearby.
The groom was standing at the makeshift altar in the converted warehouse but his bride hadn't shown yet making the crowd whisper in interest. Obviously in Katherine and Bonnie's case they were overjoyed by the bride possibly leaving her groom at the altar. Caroline was silent trying to focus on the unfolding events but her thoughts were on the guy next to her. He was apparently attracted but couldn't act on those feelings given their working relationship even if his brief touches and looks were telling Caroline otherwise.
Caroline respected professionalism but was having trouble trying not to touch or talk to him. The fact he was taking her attention away from the wedding was a gift in itself, even if nothing would ever eventuate. The bride eventually made her way up the aisle in a white, meringue, type dress. Caroline barely noticing if she was being honest. The rest of the ceremony went much the say way, until the vows.
"It's time for the vows," the priest said. "Now repeat after me, I Stefan take you Hayley..." Caroline fought the urge to roll her eyes hoping this would be over soon so she could have some much needed champagne.
"I Stefan, take you Caroline..." Surely she heard that wrong but given the surprised response from the guests around her it was most definitely her name he uttered. Klaus looked at her, placing his hand over hers obviously trying to provide some comfort. By the astonished reaction from Bonnie and Katherine nearby, Caroline knew they were excited by his very public and humiliating mistake.
Caroline knew at that moment she didn't care, her thoughts were squarely focused on Klaus as his blue eyes gazed into hers. Even as the bride-to-be stormed away from the altar leaving a very embarrased groom in her wake. Right now it was all about those crimson lips, those eyes and those dimples.
"Well, this is all sorts of awkward. It's certainly a wedding I'll never forget" he chuckled, his hand still on hers. "For a number of reasons."
"I know. What could be better than this?" Katherine asked, Caroline was trying to ignore the feeling the warmth his hand was causing and the way he was staring at her, his gaze unwavering.
"I think stealing some of that cake before we get out of here," Bonnie offered. "It looks absolutely delicious."
"How about you guys get your sugar fix on while we have a little chat," she murmured, her eyes still trained on Klaus. Katherine and Bonnie shared knowing glances and followed the rest of the guests out of the room.
"Given the wedding's over in more ways than one, I think it's about time we ended this contract, don't you?"
"You realise I'm still charging you right," he said watching her shocked face. "But I'll give you a discount."
"Lucky me."
"I was just kidding," he replied, placing his arm around her and pulling her closer to him. "I think meeting you has been payment enough, love."

[fanfic] Fair Won Prize:  chapter 3
“Excuse me, what did you say again?” Durbe didn’t look as if he could yet convince himself that he’d actually woken up and heard what he did.
Vector loved playing with people like this. He wrapped his arm around Mizael’s shoulders and leaned closer to him, ignoring the way Mizael rolled his eyes.
“I said, Mizael finally agreed to my courting and we’ve agreed on a relationship.”
Rio stared over at the pile of empty cups they’d drunk from the night before, then looked back at Durbe and Gilag. “I suggest we test whatever’s left to find out what else was in those drinks aside from that sleeping potion.”
Ryouga looked quite as if he wanted to agree with his twin. Instead, he gave Mizael a very firm look.
“Is he telling the truth?”
Mizael pushed Vector away – successfully, after trying two or three times – and stepped forward. “He’s leaving things out. Such as this isn’t romantic at all and is far more in the way of conveying my thanks for his actions last night. It’s also in no way permanent. Either one of us can cancel it at any point.”
Vector held back a smirk. He would let Mizael think that for now. Now he put a pout on his lips.
“I was rather heroic last night. I’m sure you can put it into a song, dear Ryouga.” The pout turned into a smile that was a hair’s breadth from a smirk. He waved one hand ever so dramatically. “There you all were, sound asleep and completely vulnerable to anything and everything those beasts wanted to do to you.”
He recited everything he’d heard on their plans, saving Mizael for last, letting his words linger over those schemes. He did not miss the sudden fury boiling in Alit’s eyes at what would’ve been his own fate, nor how it was flavored with sorrow. Something to keep in mind for the future, he thought, before returning to his recitations.
“Then that one idiot dared to lay a hand on Mizael here,” he said, gesturing so his fingers brushed by the ranger’s hair, but didn’t touch it. His every action he chose to make it clear how different he was from those fools who’d never heard of asking for anything.
Not that Vector himself especially liked asking or that the would-be slavers would’ve ever gotten a ‘yes’ in the first place.
“I decided at that point, it wasn’t worth being amused by their idiocy anymore.” With a flick of his fingers his knife was in his hand once more. He admired the edge of it, which would need a bit of sharpening before he used it again. “And I cut his hand off.” No one touches what’s mine. Even if Mizael didn’t know he was mine then.
“And you got blood in my hair,” Mizael pointed out. Vector tsked at that.
“I helped you get it out, didn’t I?”
“You killed all of them.” Durbe observed. “So where are the bodies?”
“We dragged them out there,” Mizael said, gesturing with one graceful hand. “And I asked Jinlong to set them on fire.”
“It was very beautiful to see,” Vector added. He toyed with the tip of his blade. “Though some of the locals tried to wander by. They didn’t stay long.”
Ryouga groaned, leaning back in his seat. “Tell me you didn’t kill them too. They haven’t done anything that we know of...have they?”
Mizael shook his head. “They didn’t stay long. They took one look at us sitting there and left.” He turned a look toward Vector. “I don’t think Vector playing with his knife and my hair at the same time inclined them to want to stay and talk.”
“I didn’t want them to stay and talk!” Vector defended himself, widening in his eyes in the best indication of innocence he could manage. “You’re right, though. They didn’t do anything to us, so they might not have been in on what was going on.”
He didn’t know if that were true or not. But he had ways to find out before much longer.
“So with all of that, you decided that Vector could be an acceptable… companion?” Durbe reached the point he clearly wanted to be at the most.
“I’ve known those who would be worse,” Mizael acknowleged, and Vector let himself smile broadly and openly this time, stealing another caress to the side of Mizael’s neck now. With their bargain made – if not fully consumated yet – then he let himself take a few more liberties with Mizael. Small ones, but only ones that he knew Mizael would agree to.
Durbe sighed, leaning his head back on the wall in mimicry of Ryouga, who just shook his own head.
“You don’t need our permission for this,” Ryouga said, “but I’m glad that you let us know.”
Ponta peered up from Gilag’s lap and giggled, an eerily human sound. “Because if you hadn’t, one of you would probably take his head off!”
Vector shot the tanuki a very annoyed look. As always, though, Ponta didn’t even seem bothered by it. Instead, he licked a paw and curled himself back up, while still watching everything with far too wise eyes.
Vector didn’t like Ponta. He’d always thought the magical creature knew far more than it possibly should have and that was something he preferred to no one else but he did.
But there wasn’t any real way to say that right now, so he turned back to the group as a whole. “Now that you know, I think we should head on to the next city. Some place with a good inn we can spend a night or two in.” Or three or four. “Just to make certain all of that drug’s cleared out of you all.”
He didn’t think he fooled any of them on that score. He’d not hidden his desire for Mizael for a moment since conceiving it. He wasn’t surprised when Alit buried his face in one hand and shook his head.
“I didn’t need to hear that. I didn’t want to hear that. I don’t want to know anything at all about it.” He lifted up his head and turned to Rio. “Can you make sure no one hears anything they do?” He turned toward Durbe and Gilag. “Or one of you? Please? Some kind of… I dunno, a silence spell?”
Vector snickered. “Do you really think we’re going to be that loud?” He would make a special point of it, just to annoy them all, spell or no spell. Not only would it annoy them if it didn’t work, but if it did, he’d know how loud he could get Mizael to be. Sometimes the best victories were personal ones.
“I don’t want to know if you are,” Alit pointed out. Gilag, Rio, and Durbe were already muttering to one another, even as Ryouga got up and started for the door.
“I’ll check on the horses. Be ready to go soon,” he said. All of them nodded; they did have a job to do farther along, and as much as Vector looked forward to his personal triumph, he wanted to get that taken care of as well.
Mizael knew quite well that he hadn’t made anything like a perfect choice, but one thing remained clear: if Vector hadn’t been there and been awake, then right now he’d likely be in that slaver’s bed. He knew and trusted his own skills, but he’d been at least mostly asleep, unable to properly defend himself. He had no idea of if the other would’ve been able to restrain him in a way he couldn’t get out of or not.
At least, he reminded himself, Vector remained honest about what he wanted. He restrained himself from touching Mizael in any way except which Mizael allowed, even if he did do that much more frequently now that they’d made their bargain.
He wasn’t at all the best, but he wasn’t the worst, and Mizael owed him now. Honor meant a great deal to Mizael, as it did to the dragons who’d raised him, and he would repay the debt in the only fashion he knew Vector would accept.
In the long run it wouldn’t make much of a difference in his life. Vector was human; Mizael wasn’t. A thousand years from now, Mizael would still roam the lands, free as only a dragon-trained elven ranger could be, and Vector would be little more than a passing memory. Perhaps one softly thought upon from time to time, depending on how their trysts went.
That was part of what he’d spoken of with Jinlong when he’d called him the first time the night before. Jinlong reassured him that dragons had done the same thing in the past. That was how some human and dragon hybrids now existed, or dragon and elven: sometimes even elven and human. A deed worthy of such a bargain wasn’t common, but Vector’s actions came under that heading.
Vector’s fingers touched the side of Mizael’s arm and he turned toward him.
“Ryouga says we’re ready to go.” Vector gave him a thoughtful look before he leaned over and touched his lips to Mizael’s. Vector was, amazingly, a good kisser, one with plenty of practice.
Mizael returned it, not surprised to find Vector sliding his arms around him and holding him close. Vector was warm and strong, and Mizael thought it wouldn’t be hard to get used to him.
The next proper inn, the kind of place that not only had good beds, a place where they could all get good meals and good drinks that weren’t going to put them into any unwanted sleep – none of them really wanted to touch any sort of ale again for quite some time, regardless of how clean they knew it was – and where they could repack their supplies wasn’t for another three days of travel.
Vector restrained himself. They stopped at inns along the way, but none of them had what everyone else wanted: privacy. Putting up a group of seven, plus horses, wasn’t something most village inns could handle, and certainly not in individual rooms.
Even with Mizael having accepted the courting and their arrangements more or less worked out – they dealt with small details as they came along, most of which included Vector not actually touching him that much – Vector could hardly wait for the actual consummation of the bargain. The fact it would include intimate relations – sex – had been implied and agreed upon from the very beginning.
I saved his ass, so now I get to have it. Vector held back a snicker. He really wanted to say that out loud, but the various annoyed looks that got shot his way whenever he opened his mouth lately kept him leashed.
To a degree. He had so many plans set up for when he and Mizael finally took that step. No one would be able to ignore him then.
“Looks like we’ll be staying in Deepflower tonight,” Ryouga said, checking the map he kept. “Tomorrow we can finally cross the border and we’ll be on the high road to the Echoing Woods.”
“What is it we’re supposed to do there again?” Alit wondered, rubbing the back of his neck. “I can’t keep this stuff straight.”
Vector wondered if Alit even knew how to read. From what he knew of the ex-gladiator’s history, it wasn’t likely. Good enough excuse to not know where they were going.
“The Echoing Woods are inhabited mostly by dryads,” Gilag said, turning his gaze in that direction. Ponta lifted his head up as well, watching the way the wind blew.
Or something.
Gilag kept going. “There are also stone spirits and a dwarven city in the area. Someone is robbing the city and all the signs are that magic is involved.”
“So we’re going to find out how and fix it up,” Alit said, nodding and stretching his arms out to work out the kinks. “Sounds good to me.”
“It’ll take us another few days to get there once we’ve crossed the border, so Deepflower is where we’ll restock it all,” Ryouga said, rolling up the map and tucking it away again. He cast a glance toward Vector, who rode beside Mizael, as always these days. He looked as if he wanted to say something. Vector inched closer to Mizael, a quick slash of a smirk across his lips followed by an anticipatory look at the ranger.
Ryouga held back whatever he had in mind to say and started down the road one more time, the rest of the Order of the Outcasts following behind.
Score one for me, Vector praised himself, stealing another look at Mizael as they rode. And tonight I’ll score even more.
The Golden Griffon was, without a doubt, the best inn in Deepflower. It had a lot of competition; Deepflower was one of the hub cities of the kingdom, where all manner of traders, travelers, and merchandise of every sort made its way from here to the various points of the kingdom and to many other kingdoms as well. Situated beside a swift-flowing, wide river that led to the ocean, from there one could go almost anywhere, and have supplies bought to make the trip that much easier.
With that much traffic, it wasn’t surprising at all that the team had a wide selection of inns to choose from. Vector made that choice this time, though.
“I’ve been here before,” he said, riding directly for the Golden Griffon and the familiar welcoming staff. “They know how to treat everyone like royalty.”
He could use a little pampering before they got back on the road for the serious business of saving people who couldn’t save themselves. He rather thought they all could, no matter who would admit it.
The owner of the Griffon knew exactly who he was, of course, and knew better than to speak of it to anyone else. He simply bowed low the moment he came out and saw who his new guests were.
“A pleasure to see you again, your worship,” the owner murmured, head bent respectfully. “Do you have any special requests today?”
Vector wrapped an arm around Mizael and pulled him close. “I’ll take the Grand Suite for the two of us, and have it well stocked.” He waved his other hand toward the rest of the group. “We’ve been shoved together enough on this trip. Individual rooms for everyone else.”
The owner glanced up, eyes going from one to the other of them, and Vector wasn’t at all surprised to see a gleam of greed there. He would be well rewarded for his services here and he knew it.
“As you wish. Would you like to eat in your rooms or in the main dining area?”
“Main dining area?” Durbe murmured, probably to Ryouga. “Most inns I know just call it the common room and be done with it.”
“Upscale place,” was all Ryouga said in return. Without looking, Vector had a feeling that the bard had his lute in his hands, idly checking the tuning. He had a habit of doing that whenever they were in a new situation. It helped make people ignore him as less of a threat, which meant he could watch what was going on and be ready to step in when necessary.
Vector hadn’t fallen for it, not once. But he had always had insider information anyway.
He focused his attention right now on the innkeeper, and enjoying the mildly startled look on Mizael’s face.
“We’ll eat in the suite. It’s much quieter.” He glaned at Mizael. “You don’t mind, do you?” He really hoped Mizael didn’t. He had one more order to give in regards to dinner.
Mizael shrugged. “I don’t care, as long as we eat.”
Perfect. Vector returned his attention to the owner. “I’m in the mood for the fourth special tonight. It’s still the one from last time, isn’t it?”
“Of course, sir!” The owner bowed again. “Also, the bathing facilities are empty at the moment, if you’d care to make use of them.”
Vector let out a very satisfied sigh at that. “I think we will.”
There were two sections to the bathing facilities. One for the usual sort of guests and the one that Vector led Mizael to. Both of the sections had the exact same features and were built to the highest of quality. But the one Vector wanted had something that the other one didn’t: absolute privacy. No one was going to get in there without passing by the guard on duty and having been granted permission by whoever used the facilities at that moment.
Vector made it clear that he didn’t want anyone else in there unless armageddon happened, and maybe not even then. He could think of few better ways to spend an apocalypse than with Mizael in his arms.
Not that there was one planned to happen any time soon that he knew of, anyway.
Mizael glanced around, a slight frown tilting his lips. Vector understood the ranger far better than some might’ve expected, and stepped up to enfold him in his arms again.
“It’s a little different from what you’re used to, isn’t it?” he murmured. The bathing room here was as wide as the tavern they’d stopped at with the would-be slavers, tiled in cool blue and pale green, with one large pool sunk into the floor. Warmed towels hung over a silver-wrought rack and lovely scents arose from the pool itself.
Another rack awaited their clean clothes, while a basket of finely woven reeds covered in silk awaited their laundry. Part of the service included all of their dirty clothes washed, dried, and mended, then returned to them.
Mizael didn’t move away from him, something Vector found pleasing. “Yes,” was all he said in response, though, and Vector nuzzled against him.
“We’ll only stay as long as we need to in order to rest up and get the supplies,” Vector promised. Overwhelming Mizael with sensual pleasures – of all kinds – wouldn’t work very well. He simply enjoyed the wilds too much.
But a small immersion in this luxury would please Vector himself quite a bit, and it was long past time that he and Mizael consummated their bargain, in every kind of way.
He started to fiddle with his clothes. He knew exacty what kind of supplies the innkeeper would provide, and where they would all be. This wasn’t even close to his first time bringing a new lover here for their first tryst.
And he so looked forward to introducing Mizael to every bit of sensual pleasure imaginable.
To Be Continued
Notes: Next chapter is the last one, and that's when they do it. It isn't graphic at all, so use your own judgment.

When a railroad paymaster and the $25,000 in cash he was carrying disappear, returning WWI ace Billy Stokes is put on the case. This independent feature has an all African-American cast and is the only complete surviving feature of the Norman Film Manufacturing Company, a Florida-based studio that specialized in so-called race films.
Home Media Availability: Released on DVD and Bluray.
Up, up and away. Ish.
Richard E. Norman is not a household name these days but he left his mark on motion picture history. Like so many filmmakers operating outside the studio system, Norman tried various approaches until he found one that worked. He started with “home talent” pictures—that is, films shot by itinerant filmmakers in smaller cities and towns that made use of non-professional local talent (you can read my review of one such picture, The Lumberjack, here) but then discovered his niche in making films aimed at African-American audiences.
Poster for the film touting its cast.
Norman was a white Southerner but he did not seek to include the sort of insulting, dangerous, condescending stereotypes that D.W. Griffith was spreading in his films. Black audiences of the day were sick and tired of seeing white performers in blackface acting like monsters, fools or infants; they wanted to see themselves as they really were. There was a strong demand for positive African-American pictures and Norman sought to fill that demand. The Flying Ace is the only extant Norman film and it was the second-to-last feature he made. Like so many independent concerns, the cost of converting to sound proved to be a fatal blow.
Movies were mad for airplanes and Norman aimed to join the fad.
(If you would like more detail on Norman’s life, career and place in African-American film history, I recommend Richard E. Norman and Race Filmmaking by Barbara Tepa Lupack, which traces Norman’s career through personal correspondence and shooting scripts.)
The story opens with three disparate men standing outside a railroad station. Finley Tucker (Harold Platts) is a local sheik with a mysterious source of income, Dr. Maynard (Sam Jordan) is a respectable dentist and Jed Splivins (Lyons Daniels) is the buffoonish local constable. The trio observes the arrival of Blair Kimball (Boise De Legge), the railroad paymaster.
A dentist, a cop and a sheik walk into a speakeasy…
It seems that Kimball has decided to deliver the payroll early. Because no one will be expecting him, he has left his guards behind and is carrying $25,000 in cash all alone. Kimball waits for the next train with stationmaster Thomas Sawtelle (George Colvin).
The stationmaster has a charming daughter, Ruth (Kathryn Boyd), and she is just crazy about airplanes and flying. Tucker has been courting her and he offers to take her up in his plane but nefarious deeds go down while she is home changing into her flight suit.
He wants to get serious but she’s having none of it.
Sawtelle is knocked out by some mysterious substance and both Kimball and the cash disappear. This looks like a job for… Captain Billy Stokes (Laurence Criner)!
Stokes is an ace pilot who has just arrived back home from service in the First World War. Before the war, he was a railway detective and his old job is open to him; he heads over to Sawtelle’s station with orders to solve the mystery. He is assisted by engineer Peg (Steve Reynolds), a fellow veteran who lost a leg in the war. (Reynolds really was an amputee and his ability to still move with balletic grace was a popular feature of his stage show. It’s refreshing to see a disabled part played by a disabled performer, something that modern Hollywood would do well to learn.)
A decidedly unimpressed Stokes.
Stokes asks Peg to disguise himself as a hobo and reconnoiter the situation. Meanwhile, Stokes takes the more direct approach and introduces himself to Sawtelle as the railway detective on the case. Ruth is interested in the dashing pilot while Tucker tries his best to use reverse psychology to throw the blame on Sawtelle. You see, this is not really a whodunit as the film makes it very clear that the money was stolen by Tucker, Dr. Maynard and Jed. The fun is watching Stokes and Peg unravel the clues with tidy efficiency. These fellows are great at what they do!
Impossible in the real world but this is the movies!
The story of The Flying Ace can be viewed as existing in an alternate 1920s, one that contains no white characters, no racism and absolutely no content that would have been considered political (interracial romance, passing, Jim Crow, and so forth). Norman chose to avoid overt political statements in his films (and complained when other filmmakers, such as Oscar Micheaux, did) and instead sidestepped the topic entirely by attempting to portray aspirational African-American characters, heroes and heroines who would never have been allowed within a hundred yards of a mainstream Hollywood production. Captain Stokes certainly would not have been able to earn the title of ace in the heavily segregated U.S. military of WWI. Norman’s approach has been variously described as utopian, savvy and cowardly. Perhaps it was touches of all three.
Stokes knows his stuff.
Now we will compare The Flying Ace to other mystery/adventure productions of the time and see how it holds up in direct competition. First, the bad news.
When viewing any independent silent production, there are usually a few pitfalls to watch out for. In order to save money, low-budget films would often use an enormous number of title cards—it was cheaper to write more cards than to shoot more movie. The Flying Ace uses this trick with cards here, cards there, enough cards to open a casino. They also lack the professional snap of Hollywood intertitles and instead have stiff, formal sentences with plenty of semicolons and an honest to goodness, unironic use of the “I have you now, my beauty!” chestnut. Oh my. Further, there are clunky moments of exposition, like when the film screeches to a halt so that Tucker can show Ruth the mechanical workings of an airplane.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
While the title cards are about as poor a lot as I have ever seen, I am delighted to report that the actual plotting of the film is excellent, if hardly original. Far too many movie mysteries of the period would force their investigators to be stumped by a puzzle that the audience solved an hour before. For example, many mystery films would have had Stokes fret about just how Sawtelle was knocked out, stretching it out for a big reveal. Meanwhile, the audience is shouting, “The dentist! He has all kinds of drugs! The dentist!” Well, Stokes walks in, figures out that drugs were used on Sawtelle, finds a small vial on the floor, meets Dr. Maynard and puts it all together. It’s highly satisfying to watch a detective keep pace with the audience and even get ahead of us.
Don’t take your eyes off Jed!
I was also a bit worried about the characters of Peg and Jed as they are both introduced as broad comedy stereotypes. While this is not entirely done away with, both prove to have more depth than I expected. Peg is shown to be a clever gadgeteer who can innovate new uses for his crutch on the fly and ends up capturing two villains single-handed. Jed soon shows that his Keystone Cop routine is all an act and he proves to be the wiliest of the conspirators with his concealed handcuff key and trusty pistol. I would have preferred the dialect title cards to have been eliminated but at least the characters have some dimension to them.
Peg and his versatile crutch.
Norman had been in talks with Captain Edison McVey, a pilot who billed himself as the King of Stunts, and with famed aviatrix Bessie Coleman. However, McVey pulled out of negotiations and Coleman was killed in an accident before a deal could be closed. Norman finally cast a group of experienced stage actors to serve as the lead performers in the film.
A real charmer!
Without a doubt, the standout of the cast is Kathryn Boyd, who is a perfect charmer as Ruth. With her cute body language and infectious smile, she is exactly what the doctor ordered for a 1920s heroine: sporty, sweet, flirty and loyal. Laurence Criner (Boyd’s real-life husband according to Lupack) is fine if a bit stiff as Stokes, the two-fisted railway detective. He certainly throws himself into the fight scene with Harold Platts, which is always appreciated.
That’s gotta hurt!
Good though the cast turned out to be, the loss of experienced pilots meant that Norman’s options were limited. (Assuming he ever had the budget to include much airplane stuff, which is doubtful.) The Flying Ace rather famously shows no flying. Tucker and Stokes both taxi their planes around the airfield and then we are shown closeups of the cockpits against a sky backdrop but very few shots of planes in the air. It’s not really a dealbreaker but it’s another element that exposes the picture’s micro budget.
Totally up in the air.
In fact, Peg’s pursuit the villains on bicycle is far more dynamic than any of the airplane stuff. He peddles with his crutch and once he gets a good speed built up, he fires at the fleeing car with the gun he has concealed inside that same crutch. It’s exciting and the scene is unusually well-shot and edited for a budget picture. Great work there!
All in all, The Flying Ace is a fine bit of unpretentious silent entertainment and even without its historical importance, it works as a diverting detective yarn. This is a must-see for nerds and casual fans alike.
Where can I see it?
The Flying Ace was released on DVD and Bluray as part of the Pioneers of African-American Cinema box set. It’s accompanied by a fine score performed by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra.

Note
Can I have a session analysis? It consists of an anxious but helpful Rogue of Light, a depressed but sweet Sylph of Life, an overemotional but selfless Maid of Space, an angry but loyal Prince of Time, and a confrontational but logical Thief of Heart.
You have both cardinal aspects
You have a slight preference for active classes
You have a strong preference for positive aspects
You do not have any repeated classes or aspects
Huh, those bullets look kindof like my last one. But hheeey, thanks for the ask! This looks like a prettyinteresting session, and at a glance I think that the thief is probably goingto be pulling this session into motion and taking leadership rolls; by thesound of the personalities, the group will do well emotionally supporting each otherand working as a team but that might take up a lot of their time and energythat could have been spent “better” planning out the final battle and howthey’re all going to get there.
Maid of space
Maids of space are very, veryuseful to have, and as long as she progresses well she should be great she willbe a loyal force that could easily turn the tides of a battle with her powers. At first she might be quite reliant on the group, as maids often are. She getsoffended and upset over petty drama easily and cares about her friends a lot-maybe a little too much, to the pointthat she might become quite stuck on one thing. It is after entering the gamewhen she embraces her aspect fully that she might learn that people change, grow and improve. Sburb will challenge people and it is crucial that sheaccepts these challenges and grows from them- after learning about the risks, fighting off bosses and laboriously collecting frogs will she still getemotional over the things she used to think were a big deal?
Even before when she wasgetting overemotional about things, she still sounds like the type that keepsfriends together, even at the cost of her own emotional health. As the gameprogresses she will continue to help stop fights before they even happen and possiblytake on a more motherly role, protecting the creativity and freedom of herteammates to do as they wish.
Role: Power wise, the maid ofspace is possibly one of the most powerful and useful classes of all the gamebecause the maid’s description entails “creating and preserving”. With the helpof some of her teammates which it sounds like she’s already pretty close to,collecting frogs and creating the genesis frog should be a pinch. It doesn’tstop there though- if she ascends, she could play an important part defensivelyon the battle field and after. She may be able to heal the battlefield(although that may be heading into Sylph’s territory there), create actualspace- as in, put space between the team and the enemy, as well as preservespace. Preserving space can be interpreted in many ways. It could meanpreserving the planets and keeping them out of harm’s way, or preservingcertain pockets in space so that nothing can get through to that area. I’d goon, but this is getting a lil long ^_^;;
Prince of time
I’ve actually gone throughprinces of time in my last analysis funny enough, but a key difference here isthat it is stated that he is loyal. Loyal but angry. Unless there’s a lot ofbuild-up, his friends should be able to see if he’s going to snap or not andwith a sylph of life as well as many other positive aspects, that day where hebreaks down might never come. Princes often ghost their aspect, so it willprobably be he who is the spontaneous and, (possibly to the surprise of hisfriends) creatively capable and good at thinking himself out of problems(something he them might rub in their face for ever doubting him. Which theymight jokingly accept.). These roles would switch when the prince learns of hisresponsibilities as a time player.
Before that key point he willhave been “killing time”- beating around the bush and doing side quests or“helping” with friends’ ones (annoying them and making them frustrated with hisown easily angered self). After that key point he will have to pick up theslack and start using his time travelling powers to help out or, if he can’taccept that, destroy through time, effectively dooming the timeline. Hopefullythat won’t happen though as long as his teammates keep him on track ;)
Role: It is only after helearns to become responsible with his time travelling abilities that he can behelpful, before that there is the slight chance he’d be helpful, but also thegreater chance that he’d just go wherever his whims wanted him too. On thebattlefield in the fight against the black king and queen, you can creativelyinterpret his powers yourself on “destroying time” to see how destructive he’dbe. You could imagine that he killed time in one place so that everythingaround the area went on whilst that spot and everything in it was frozen. Inthe opposite way, if he was to destroy through time, he might be able torapidly speed up time in certain areas so that people age until they become oldand incapable.
Rogue of light
Light is all about relevance, the importance of things, luck and information. This player will, possiblywithout realising it, be redistributing information among her peers as she seesfit. Although she’s not very comfortable in the spot light herself, she willalways make sure everyone gets their fair share of importance themselves. Shepays attention to the little voices and listens for something important, and ifshe hears something that she thinks others will hear, she’ll be the one to go“uh, guys? So and so has got a fair point…”
Rogues often struggle withtheir aspect initially, and her anxiety proves that. She will take theimportance from herself and give it to others, possibly believing that sheisn’t very helpful and that other people are more important. She faces theproblem of fading into the shadows completely and thinking herself entirelyuseless, at which point she risks inverting into a knight of void and trying anew perspective for “helping” by exploiting people’s secrets…
Honestly it’s great you gaveme a bit of background info there because she sounds very interesting and witha rogue of light, you could have literally any personality I’ve realised.
Role: If she breaks out ofher nervousness and realises her own potential, the rogue could be one of thebest tacticians in the group along with the thief of mind. She could getinformation round the group at lightning fast speed, as well as acting like aspy on the black kings and queens and stealing their plans, giving them to herteam. She could steal the luck from opponents and make them miss, giving theluck to her allies who would then score critical hits.
Sylph of life
A sylph of life is basicallythe best healer in the game, both emotionally and physically. Like the rogue, she probably puts a lot of emphasis on other people, and takes joy out ofmaking others feel better and inspired. She knows how to get people up offtheir feet and moving, which is pretty good if you’re trying to get the princeto accept his title as a hero of time. It’s too bad she doesn’t follow her ownadvice of staying upbeat and positive.
Whether it’s problems athome, or she simply feels neglected by placing so much attention on the groupbut no once asking how she is doing(the latter is less likely considering you have the rogue of light) and thisproblem is going to grow and grow unless someone does something about it.
Role: The sylph of life isthe best healer in the game, though she cannot restore life like the maid can,she can bring people back from the brink of death and I suspect she can do thatmore than just once. Fully realised, she will be the primary healer.
Thief of heart
Oh god… I kind of forgotabout the thief until now and jaesoos I forgot that this one is arguably thebiggest threat to the session. There’s a lot of interpretation here, but Ibelieve that the thief initially is a bit of an identity stealer, or the typethat sees a good idea or passion and takes it for their own, but then afterascending to god tier is able to steal souls. Yeah instead of just destroyingthem, the thief can steal the souls and will of someone, making the body a merepuppet for the thief to use at whim.
Anyway, that went off on abit of a tangent but it makes you realise that dang this thief better refrainfrom pissing off her friends too much by stealing the happiness and passionfrom them (by this I mean, imagine if your sylph had a passion for growingthings. The thief might take this passion away and become a champion gardenerherself, outdoing the sylph and stealing the positivity from her by paradingaround her triumph as the best grower). The key thing here is that she seems tobe quite goal orientated which I take it what you meant by logical. She knowsto be careful with her power. She knows where to move people along and play thestring puller, but she can’t do this without being bossy.
The prince of time isprobably one of the only people that will stand up to him, and even though the sylphof life is good at motivating people, it will be the thief that shoves him in agood or bad direction and this is game changing.
Role: She is anothertactican, and even though the rogue might be better at regulating information,it is the theif that steps up to the challenge of being leader and as long asshe doesn’t get too angry at the other players or the other players don’t getangry at her, she should play a somewhat stable, if a little uneasy, leader. Also a heavy hitter, as said in the first paragraph. If she so chose, she couldbrainwash consorts and carpacians alike to raise an army!
Summary:
This got pretty negative, butplease bear in mind I’m the type of person that picks out what could go wrongfor the sake of conflict, because conflict is interesting to me >xpHonestly, this is a pretty good team and in terms of a solid unit, you’ve got aleader, tactican, therapist and the like. For the battle, your prince and thiefare heavy hitters, your maid is a tank and strong on the defence of the landwhilst the sylph is a healer of the heavy hitters and the rogue, distributing luck,is just the icing on the cake.
If you get to the finalbattle without the prince or thief going rogue, you’ve got this in the bag.

Clash Music - Don’t Play It Safe (Cassie)
Score: 73
Cassie has just released her third album Don't Play It Safe, 2 years later after her commercially successful and career defining "Stripped". Don't Play It Safe is a true testament to the direction Cassie decided to go in. She took risks, and well, did not play it safe what so ever. Unlike Stripped, Cassie decided to go in a more lighter R&B pop route that leans more on the pop side and follows the trap trends that are common in today's music. The album features the #1 smash hit Cassie, that boasts her name, swag, and attitude throughout an infectious beat that will having you wishing you were Cassie. Wasabi is another hit for obvious reasons. The verse gets you hooked on first listen. Cassie quick wit and lyricism hooks you in throughout Wasabi and throughout the album. Wasabi also visits the classic 90's/ 2000's R&B girls group harmonies. It just feels very familiar and nostalgic.  Moments is a perfect follow up. It is a smooth chill R&B number that just makes you want to sing along with the same feelings and attitude that Cassie delivers on the low-fi trap beat. The perfect harmonies and melodies allow this to be an easy smooth listen that will be on repeat. Speaking of is a sensual R&B number, which Cassie sings with a hushed and sexy tone. It certainly highlights Cassie's vocals and her talent, but the song is a bit lack luster and a bit filler. There are some redeeming qualities, but not enough for it to stand out. Joan of Arc is a self empowering anthem. Cassie shows off her wit once again. It is a feminist anthem for sure. Don't Play It Safe visits this theme a lot throughout the album. Cassie is a confident and powerful woman that can celebrate herself. The song itself, sonically, is a little messy however. It jumps around a bit, and can come off as odd, but the message is very commendable. Canadian Boy is a love song about a secret Canadian man that Cassie must be in love with. Wonder who it could be? It is a very cute and fun pop song to the core. It is catchy on first listen and something you can dance to and immerse yourself in. Cassie delivers amazing R&B moments like Excuses, but can also deliver fun pop songs like Canadian. Don't Let Go has a nice low-fi type production. Cassie finds a nice balance of low-fi R&B songs with fun uptempo pop songs. Don't Let Go is another easy listen and simple R&B song. It is nothing stellar, but it isn't the weakest either. The verses are sung so beautifully and her vocals are so sweet and luscious. It actually grows on you as you continue to listen. Motivate is a fun, fiery, and fierce track. It certainly gets you on your feet and moving. It has a type of swag and appeal that you wish you had every day. The production is amazing, but the chorus doesn't quite match up. It kind of falls flat. It is still a fun song that you can have playing while you are getting ready for a night out. Forget You Not keeps the sass levels up. This one is a lot better than Motivate. The chorus is a bit repetitive, but the verses really save this song. Its very catchy through and through and you will probably be replaying it. The album closes with Simple Things, the albums current single. It is one of the best on the album, and we can see why Cassie chose it as the next single. The lyrics are perfect, the pacing is perfect, and it is a great song overall. There is a sexiness and mysteriousness throughout and it is a perfect closer for the album.
Overall Cassie is a consistent pop/R&B album. Cassie tackles themes of love, relationships, maturing, confidence, empowerment, self-love, and navigating through the tumultuous waters of life and love as a young woman. Cassie showcases her tenacity, charisma, confidence, and security within herself on Don't Play It Safe. As stated before, the title is a testament to the subject matter on this album. Cassie is one that never plays it safe, whether it be in her craft, or i her personal life. She is ambitious and a go-getter. Don't Play It Safe has no "safe" songs and Cassie put out a solid body of work!
