This post is talking about the designs (and the designs only, I haven't read anything from the authors and dont even know who they are so this is design based only) released for the new Damian Wayne comic - The Boy Wonder. I will be heavily critical and btching about these, but please tell me your thoughts as well. After Damian, the others are under the cut. Please read because it's important.

Damian's design is actually really good and the best one, which is probably good since this is a comic about him. And I love how he's not whitewashed, which is something that happens way too much in comics.

Now, to Nightwing, his design is okay for a Nightwing design, but he just looks off in this style. I think if they tried to stylise him more, it could look a lot cooler. So I think he's just got wasted potential. Also, he's probably whitewashed as well to make damian more special as the "only" POC in the family (probly why Cass, Duke, Luke, and Luicus aren't here as well).

Babs is next, and this is the main reason I made this post. They abled her. DC authors stop abling disabled characters, please, for the love of me, I can't stand it. She can be disabled and still be relevant in the plot. I swear the only reason authors do this is because they don't know how to write disabled characters. If they need a Batgirl, use Steph or Cass because they are more than capable of doing it. I know they aren't as iconic as Babs, but move on DC. She's so much more interesting as Oracle.

Batman, I'm not a fan of his big blocky design. I just don't like it. He also looks really irrelevant and giving this is a comic about Robin (his son!) I think he should be relevant or look like he isn't a background character who just grunts, like for the design it looks like he doesn't talk. Don't like it.

Jason now, I actually love his Red Hood costume it looks sick, and the R on the chest *chefs kiss*. But his robin outfit is too gritty, and from that, I can tell he's going to be mischaracterised as the "angry Robin," so Hood looks cool, but that's all it is, his looks.

Tim. There is so much to say, omg. Where is his hero outfit! Everyone else got them. Why didn't he? You can actually see RR in the preview, so why wasn't that design put here? Why is it just Tim? And why does kid Tim look homless you know he grew up rich, before and after his adoption sure he has a style but his cloths wouldn't be friad he'd still look sleek and scruff not on the verge of his cloths falling off his back. For this, I can tell he'll also be mischaracterised as just like Jason since this is a Damian comic they are doing to do him so dirty. :( Sad day for a 90's Tim Drake fan (like every day, tbh save my guy). His RR design also has a shitty mask, but other than that, it seems fine, I like the wings/cape for it that looks pretty cool.

Alfred is a stereotypical old man. He's got no individuality what so ever and will proble be in one panel, say something sarcastic, and never show up again.

Ra's is okay. That's all.

Talia doesn't even look like herself . If you showed me her design with no context, I would not know who she is.

Carrie. Why is she here? Like honestly, why? There are better characters to include in a comic like this, like Steph or Cass or Duke or Helana. They would all be better chooses than Carrie. I'm not the biggest Damian fan, but ofter, Damian fans have been wanting him and Huntress as in a comic for a bit. I do like her design, but I just don't get why she's here. (I'm not including her image because of the limit bit is on my previous repost)

I loved every single one of the Lucy/Tim's scenes in this show, but particularly that last one. Because for Lucy this has always been a competition with Tim, like how couldn't it not? But for Tim...it hasn't been in a very long time. For him it was over when he realized it was going to be a competition with a kid, and unless you are an asshole, you let it go after that. Which is something Tim did. Kids should always come first, and Tim realized that, and kept reminding Hawk even when he forgot. But also this is the tragedy of this story. Because Tim in letting Hawk go, was able to form a life of his own where Hawk wasn't in it. He found passion in other things, he found a balance in his life. He still loved him, but it was different. He was able to kind of move on, in a way that Hawk wasn't. Hawk instead was never able to move on. Like what he did should have been enough, but it wasn't. He kept wanting Tim back, kept dreaming of something that wasn't possible anymore. He never had that true moment of letting Tim go. And when he finally was able to accept himself and be with Tim...it was too late, not only because of AIDS, but because Tim himself wasn't that boy who lived for love anymore. He had a purpose now, that didn't include Hawk, and doing that was more important than dying in his lover's arms.

that scene with baby jackson and tim i feel was the turning point in tim’s journey - and i dont know if you have watched the new interview with jonathan and matt, but jonny spoke about this scene in there and yeah, i think that tim saw the innocent life in front of him and realised that he had to let hawk go bc this wasnt something he could ever be a part of, and he understood why and for whom hawk did what he did.

he may not have forgiven hawk but he understood

from that point onwards tim only grew and moved on in his journey - he stopped occasionally for hawk but he never actually stopped growing or moving ahead in his growth

on the other hand hawk never really changed from the 50s did he. he ofc matured with age and everything bc hes human after all but he still was at the same or not far off from the point we find him in 50s in terms of thinking and personality etc

what triggers hawk to change is tims illness i think and ofc that beautiful love confession - but ofc it was too late. it’s bittersweet that hawk did change and accepted himsef but it took tim’s death for it to happen

but i agree that even if hawk had changed without that trigger and tim wasnt ill, its possible that they wouldnt have ended up together - thats the tragedy of their story i agree. they grew as two people who loved each other immensely but more importantly they grew as individuals

again, not to say that tim ever stopped loving hawk but as is the theme of the show, sometimes love is just not enough.

i dont know who a writer would be who could handle it (more ignorance on my part than lack of good writers though there is that too) but i’m curious what you think a real, earned redemption could look like for jtodd and if you would even want it.

i definitely think there’s a path, esp because so much of bruce’s philosophy relies on a genuine and earnest commitment to rehabilitation and restorative justice, but i also think (and maybe i’m wrong if anyone has comics recs lmk) but i don’t think i’ve seen a comic with the hard work of reaching out and healing/moving on from the past from both bruce + co and jason

i really love his character but especially now i don’t think dc knows what it wants to do with him so he’s in this perpetual limbo where he’s always on the edges of the batfam, a fringe black sheep member but a member nonetheless, still entangled with them

personally i would love either way but i wish dc would either separate him and let him do his own thing that’s not just punisher lite or really actually go through the process of making amends and fully integrating with the crew, learning to love and trust again and all that

i don’t think that’s ignorance — dc is not known for hiring writers who can include and explore complex themes in their comics lol

personally i think the easiest way to trigger a redemption arc for jason would be take him away from the batfamily and force him to interact with other villains, specifically amanda waller and the suicide squad. task force z came kinda close to this, but didn’t push the concept far enough imo. jason’s interactions with black mask were some of the best parts of utrh — i want to see his ideology be questioned by people who do the exact same things as him, and are fully aware that they’re selfish and destructive.

the truth is that while jason is acting out and murdering people, he’s still bound to bruce. he is autonomously making decisions, but fundamentally he is choosing to stay. he’s choosing to be tethered. he’s choosing to care. seeing the indentured recruits of the suicide squad would be confronting to him.

i don’t think the happy family fanon dynamic will ever be possible without ruining every included character simultaneously, but that’s okay. that’s not what jason truly wants anyway.

specifically, i don’t think he’ll ever be able to work with bruce, which is why i find the jason + dick dynamic so interesting. you’re right — bruce’s fundamental mission is about restorative justice, and he would continue to reach out. dick, however, is a realist, and is extremely protective and territorial of the people in his care (tim, damian, the titans, etc) all of whom jason has hurt. jason has been shown on page to respect dick and his position, and simultaneously think he’s pathetic because he refuses to lose control.

for me ideally, he’d be someone on the very outskirts. i feel like dick and babs would be his point of contact — dick because he’s keeping an eye on jason, and babs because she has way less hangups about working with killers. otherwise? i think he’s lost the chance to properly bond with anyone who knew before he died. that’s the risk he took when he decided to become the red hood. that’s the tragedy.

but to be perfectly honest, the most restorative thing jason could do would be to leave the game entirely, and relearn how to live.

there r few words to describe the amount of guilt, horror, and devastation that jack feels after what he's done, all he's lost, and what he has to do to survive. he has a year of his life that he was literally possessed by a demon and went around fucking tearing humans apart and eating their remains. even as he's """recovering""" and settling into a cabin, his friendships with the creeps, trying to just feel okay. he's on his last leg, he can tell that people know he's a shell of what he was but they'll never know how warm, kind, inviting he used to be. "i went downhill at such a steep inline" ... yea he did his life changed immeasurably in a single night and it's never coming back. the lyrics "'Cause I was born into the world on a silken cloud / And I got bored of the world before I hit the ground" ... while he had a ton of pressure. he loved his life, loved his family, was the type to constantly express how grateful he was for everything that got him where he was. and then he hit rock fucking bottom because he wanted to chase a little excitement with the pretty girl inviting him to join a 'club.' poor guy

again, i dont think i need to explain this. maybe this could be mary(jane's wife) singing to jane, cuz she was one of janes main supports after her parents death. jane can only act strong for so long but she is so so so fucking sad and mourning and she was always so soft and gentle and sweet and she lost everything in a single night. she spent a short period of time filled with rage, as she would be, but her story eventually evolves into her just wanting to help others with their cases, be happy with her wife, take care of sally, grow old, make her parents proud. she's climbed mountains and is probably in the best place of all the creeps. holds her. i dont touch her character too often because i just want her to settle happily lolz..

A random headcanon: i am really split on weather he barely eats or if he's like, a lowkey foodie. Idk why.

General Opinion over said character: For me I do view him as someone HURT by his loneliness, though in the show, if I recall right, he seems quite content? With his existance. Or says he is, and how he's drawn to it.

I will say- I partially mirror some of my own experiences of loneliness onto him. I was so afraid of opening up to people at one point that I convinced myself that I WANTED to be all alone. I used to want to move into a little cottage in the woods and cut off all contact to people. But it was a self destructive coping mechanism. At points a survival mechanism. Maybe canonically Peter Lukas is a reliable narrator?

I recall him talking about the warm glow coming from the windows of houses though, and the loneliness it made him feel- if i'm attributing this right. And i have a really hard time contributing that to anything but YEARNING. And reveling in yearning. I also have experience w that. Yearning is a DELIGHTFUL feeling.

So yeah I think I do find a lot of comfort in the version of Plukas I have in my head.

Honestly he's burrowed a little nest into my head abd become something beyond a little blorbo from my shows.

Like i have thought about marrying him as a performance art piece. But i dont think rustied featherpen would like that.

The Death of Jason Todd is such a weird moment, and for me makes the birth of Tim kinda all the more special

basically the 1980s you see the birth of the adult comic fan, the late 1970s and early 80s sees comics geared at high school and college age guys, the X-men in 1975 for Marvel and the New Teen Titans in 1980 for DC.

Come 1986-87 you have the adult fans, and for Batman two works by Frank Miller, 1987's Batman: Year One and 1986's The Dark Knight Returns, both project a grim serious "for adults" NOT FOR KIDS! Batman who in both cases does not have a Robin (well DKR kinda does but we'll get there) most importantly DKR is presented as the future of DC comics as having taken place in the main timeline and were we're going. And Batman's shift to a darker more serious more adult character is set off by... the death of Jason Todd.

So you have a camp of comic fans, particularly Batman, fans who wanted to be taken seriously as adults and not have their thing their hobby characterized as "for children" you also have fans, who feel like there should have only ever been one Robin, Dick Grayson. Remember Grayson was a main character in the wildly hugely to this day biggest selling ever New Teen Titans. Till Crisis in 1986 Jason Todd had the same word for word origin story as Dick, he was also a Circus kid, his family was the "Flying Todds" who fell to their deaths. it's not till 1987, only about a year before his death he's given his own famous tire stealing origin story (and black hair...)

Any ways its unclear to this day if fans really did vote to kill him, since there's always been a rumor one person set up an automated system to repeat call the line to kill him, the final difference between kill and not was 72 votes.

However I think in so many ways that makes Tim special because the writers saw what the fans did, saw that neckbeard rotten comic fan boy rage about wanting their adult grown up grim gritty solo Batman and said "no you are wrong, Batman needs a Robin" it's not just Tim saying that to Bruce it's the creators saying it to the fans.

that being said, it is interesting that the writers doubled down on tim after killing jason, knowing the writers hated jason! at least as far as i know, my sources are as unbiased as any dc fans so... probably biased

i think the person who originally wrote tim did indeed believe furiously that robin did not make the comic immature, he gave depth, but tim was always a... more serious robin, the quirky dialogue was cut a lot, imo, which im not complaining about, i do like the more serious batman tone, but its so fascinating to know why that shift probably came to happen

lastly i may be a dreamer but i chose to believe the poll was not manipulated, if only because of the fact that i would probably have voted to kill him off, and dont get me wrong, i love kid jason, but as a reader, wouldnt u wanna know what would happen, what it would do to bruce who was trying so hard? to dick who never trued as hard as he could? would there be another robin? how can u say no to that

Micheal: "first batgirl aka Barbara Gordon was the daughter of a cop and she is in a wheelchair because joker broke into her house and shot her. So yeah- acts like a big sister to us. Bruce basically adopted her."

Micheal: "then Jason Todd. 2nd robin now a anti hero that is a huge foodie, me and tim are cool with him. His mom was a doctor that sold drugs and his dad was a small criminal that left to get the milk. Jason was also beaten by a crowbar to death by joker"

Rover: "do you all have trauma from clowns and circuses?"

Micheal: "yeah pretty much-"

Micheal: "Tim Drake was the 3nd robin, now red Robin...Yumm, he is smartest of us, lived a good ish childhood, his parents died- he is also is coffee addict and very sleep deprived. Don't ask the last time he slept!"

Rover: "should Bruce be-"

Micheal: "we all are sleep deprived Rov. Anyways there is Steph brown. Tim's ex, was the first female robin. Was second batgirl, smart gal, her dad tried to kill her many many many times, faked her death before, all that."

Rover: "im- do all of yo not have parents or have crappy parents?"

Micheal: "yep!"

Michael: "Cassandra Cain, 3nd batgirl, now is orphan (I think-) was trained without language so she doesn't talk much, she can read movements to tell what you are gonna do next. Doesnt understand everything but is badass!

Rover: "...wow-...im kind- wait is that all of the family?"

Micheal: "not even close. Anyway now their is Damian Wayne. The 4th robin, obsessed with animals, the only vegan, filled with rage pretty much, trained by the league of assassins. Mother is one of the leaders, Bruce's only biological child. And kinda a snappy kid but fun to hang with at times"

Rover: "sounds like tea and Elizabeth"

Micheal: "im not gonna ask who they are! Anyways Duke! Called The Signal, the first mutant in the family I think, the only bat person that has a good sleep schedule mostly because he works on the day. But very sweet and cheerful dude, also his mom is insane because of joker and he is trying to get her to at least remember who he is"

Rover: "their goes the joker trauma-... Holy shit your family is hu- wait what about bat woman?"

Micheal: "oh yeah she isn't important-"

Micheal: "oh! He is another batman. Alfrican soldier that is another version of batman but he has a different kids suit, he is retired now but he i think had the most teched used suit then all of us"

A look back at 1990's Stephen Kings It

Its almost October,so lets talk about one of the 90's biggest contributions to horror,the two part miniseries It .I had recently rewatched (PRobabbly third time watching it) and have recently twice watched the excellent documentary Pennywise the Story of It so it is on my mind

Now I am NOT going to talk about the book cause I havent read it ,nor am I going to talk much about the two recent film versions cause I have only seen the first one .This also isnt going to be the typical review I do,cause while I will discuss my oppinions ,more of a ramble about my personal journey with it ,and discussion of its legacy

For those who dont know what It is about,it follows a group of people who defeated a monster 30 years ago ,who have reunited to face it again

Now if you want my oppinion :Its good if a bit uneven .The cast is all pretty settellar from a talented child cast that includes Johnathan Brandis and Seth Green ,to the adult actors which include Annette O Toole ,John Ritter , Harry Anderson,Tim Reid ,and Richard Thomas,the effects are pretty fun,the drama and humor work and its got a great score .Where it falters is the first half is REALLY strong but the second kind of falters ,especially with a bit of a unsatisfying finale ,and some scares wotrk some dnt

However what really makes the movie stand out ,is its villain/secret weapon :Tim Curry as Pennywise the Dancing Clown,the humanoid personification of the monster .Other actors like Roddy McDowall,Alice Cooper,Harvey Fierstine and Malcolm McDowell were considered ,but for reasons I will go into why later ,I think Curry was the best choice

Now the miniseries was a success and usually thats that for a miniseries .....But It has had an afterlife

When I was growing up it was considered one of the SCARIEST movies ever ,it wasnt even seen as a TV thing ,just a scary movie.I also happened upon my dad watching it when I was very young ....Specifically the scene where Pennywise lures then kills Georgie ,the brother of the main character....And it freaked me out

I was actually afraid to watch the movie until Nostalgia Critic did his review of it,and it seems in the 2010's there was kind of a backlash to the movie ,that its not as scary as people thought ,that it was corny and cheesy .Now there seems to be more of a reappraisal after the recent It movies ,with a bit more affection

As for why it has lasted so long I have two answers .One is the story this is tale about not only childhood but looking back on it the good and the bad and what becomes lost in our memory

However the main answer is simple.....Its Tim Currys performance.Put simply he is a perfect boogey man .Curry is a bold dangerous unpredictable performaer ,and instead of being a standar "GRr I'm gonna eat ya " monster.....He is a fun clown ,who is a monster underneath .Its why I am baffled by the backlash of people who say he is TOO goofy:No shit,hes a CLOWN ! The point is he makes you drop your guard cause he is funny and when he grts mean its even scarier ,hes a very unsettling monster ,and I would put Curry's performance up there among the great horror villains

Still hanging out in our hotel. Despite my husband saying he feels cooped up we sure have been out and about a lot. I havent bothered to pull a watercolor set or sketchbook out of the car. It just feels like too much effort. I have GoW Ragnarok in the car too but same thing..too much effort.

I wanted to doodle something christmas related but Im apparently not in a christmassy mood. We a started watching the tv show 1883 yesterday because my mom warned me Tim Mcgraw was hot in it and I needed to see and she was right. So I doodled majestic lion guy and thats about all the creativity that I have in my bones. I dont know, in order to draw I need peace and good lighting and my own personal space and I cant get that here.

Ive applied to a couple jobs and even got a text back (which Ive never seen before) telling me they forwarded my resume. But it is really hard to apply for jobs on a phone or ipad. I packed my laptop but I packed it too well. Its smooshed underneith a bunch of things in the car and I cant get to it.

Otherwise we've been to a couple farmers markets. When we lived in columbus I said I hated living on a border city. Like it kinda makes me nauseous because people from Georgia and alabama might as well be from different countries but now Im on the border of Mexico and New Mexico and it is..interesting. But this little farmers market had this baker and Im all about the french cafe pastries lifestyle..one of the best crescents Ive ever had. I could have died. And the area was actually very aesthetic too for having broken trailers and chickens. I would totally go back another weekend when we are done scoping out other empty calories.

Theres a few other french bakeries in the area I want to try.

Also hit up the local rock wall gym. I love that its private and will be 5 minutes from our house when we move in. The gym is in another building behind it. And then this post has the fanciest on post shopping center Ive ever seen including a starbucks. My only regret is is there doesnt appear to be free yoga classes. There is another massive rockwall gym in the new part of town that we havent been to yet. It does apparently have a fitness center and yoga classes included in price. I would love to go (sorry local empty gym) but its like 800$/yr and I need to be several paychecks deep to think of signing up for that.

We also did a local escape room with some buddies who live here and they've never done one before. It was a good first one too. We had to escape a mental asylum and the doors would shake and scream. Was fun.

My only plans today are Id like to hit up the major mall in the area..probably wont happen..we may go climbing this morning first but we are scoping out daycare/boarding facilities for our dog in the future. Everyplace here has requirements that make me feel like Im sending her off to a private boarding school.

I still havent been to the local art store either but I was kinda waiting til we moved into our house.

I LIKE. totally get why people arent super into jondaisy or daisy in general and i dont really think people need to feel positively about daisy because like beyond the “someone who committed unforgivable acts of violence” angle there is also the layer of “police brutality” which is going to hit a lot of people in ways that are both very personal and stiflingly societal. but . i am going to discuss jondaisy. because i am so fucking fascinated by their dynamic in so many ways. 

anyway in s5 the things that stood out to me were. 

1. jon saying he never forgave daisy

2. daisy never asking him to

3. jon wishing daisy had recognized him, after going fully hunt. 

and it was i think such a chilling distillation of their dynamic that makes me FUCKING LOSE IT. like the fact that 

one, jon did not ever forget OR forgive daisy for what she did to him,

two, he TRIED TO CUT OFF HIS FINGERS and then GAVE UP HIS RIBS to go into the coffin to SAVE HER despite this, 

THREE, there is NO FUCKING WAY daisy didnt know that jon DID NOT FORGIVE HER and that him going into the coffin for her was NOT him saying its ok now, youre forgiven, but a very pointed its not fine and i dont forgive you but this is the right thing to do, and 

FOUR i believe that yes her reflection and introspection re her actions and the kind of person shed been and let herself be and enabled basira to be as well happened partially because she was in the buried for six months with nothing but her thoughts BUT the catalyst for her desire to ACTUALLY change and decide to do whatever the fuck it took to be better INCLUDING die was because jon got into the coffin to rescue her, NOT because he forgave her, but because he DIDNT, and he did it anyway. 

(arguably you can say that it was also a kind of a suicide mission. you can also argue it was because at that point jon was trying to get SOMETHING concrete GOOD done. you can also argue jon was just sort of like, resigned to the idea that he was good for nothing anyway so it didnt really matter. but jon saying he didnt forgive her makes me think there was an interpersonal relationship between them that made this a MORE complicated choice than “going into coffin easy way to die” like tim’s choice to blow the wax museum up was, or martin’s surrender to the lonely)

like. i cant fucking imagine the kind of person you have to be to be willing to cut your fingers off. to go to jared fucking hopworth and go take my fucking ribs idc. i need to go into the buried to save the woman who has been nothing but hostile to me and who tried to KILL me. and i need something to anchor me. so i will give up A PART OF MY BODY for that purpose. it makes me fucking lose my mind imagining the guilt daisy mustve felt. or not even guilt, because she wouldnt wallow in that, but – looking at someone who did that for her. who believed in her that much. that she was still worth saving. who said im a monster. and i dont forgive you for what you did to me, because i cant and dont want to and i get to choose if i do that and i won’t. and said youre a monster too. but i still think youre worth saving. so you can be better. because i still think we can both be better. 

which goes back to the wishing she’d recognized him. because she recognized him once, as a peer. as another person whod done things that they felt could never be forgiven (on a smaller scale and this is arguable anyway, sure, but still) but who still saw her as a person. there was a time where they saw each other as equals who were pushing each other to do better. and its such a fucking shame that it can’t happen again because daisy is gone now.

I completely agree with you on the Nightwing solos. I’m sick of certain writers nerfing Dick in the name of  “nostalgia” when really all it is, is fanservice to a  particular minority of DC consumers who dont venture beyond the DCU/DC cartoons.

I miss the days where villains like Deathstroke would show how brilliant and strategic and epic Nightnight is as both a fighter and a hero. I always loved reading comics where Deathstroke was involved in the plot as either a begrudging ally or the main antagonist because he always pushed Dick. In all aspects.

We didn’t get a bubble headed idiot as we seen in recent solos, we got someone who was challenged mentally, morally, and physically. It made Dick’s character, as well as the plot, interesting and refreshing.

Dick and Slade have always had that certain type of chemistry, that particular brand of respect/hate partnership and rivalry, that made those comics the best and most intense.

I always loved that rough, obsessive, almost dark side of Dick (omg but not in the whole “Ric” way bs) that Slade, and other villains or anti-heroes brought out in Dick.

It brought so much depth and realism to his character, as well as making the goofy, witty and yes, sometimes ridiculously daring side of Dick all that more loveable. Dick is only second to Superman when it comes to being the most approachable and trusting hero. He’s also seen and referred to as Batman’s light. It’s a great character trait for Dick. And I love it.

But making him that goofy hero 24/7 as these Nightwing solos have been doing as of late really devalues that aspect of his character and makes his character boring, ridiculous, and overall cheap.

I just wish the fans and the writers would take Nightwing more seriously these days.

I love including Deathstroke as one of Dick's main re-occurring villains! Because the history between the two is just so amazing and deep and it's criminal not to explore it. Deathstroke being admirable of Dick's skill set, but still hating him is always an interesting idea to me. I don't like it when Deathstroke is portrayed as friendly or willing to team up with Dick. I want straight animosity between the two characters. I again always loved the idea of Dick being more rough around the edges and very stoic. Like a cross between Captain America and Aragorn almost lol TBH, I prefer Dick to be described outside of being the light to batman's darkness. Dick is more than just a batman side character and at this point, his mythos should reflect that. He is charismatic, approachable, and trustworthy. But he is also isn't perfect. He can be mean, overbearing, and selfish at times as well. Goofy and incompetent, he is not. I'm fine with exploring Dick's more laid back non-serious side, but that should only come out when he is just enjoying himself with some friends during a night out or something. Not when he is trying to get rid of a deadly criminal.

I think writers DO take Nightwing seriously, it's just there isn't much to do with Nightwing at the same time. Most stuff created for Nightwing gets given away to other characters. Most of his best personality traits and skillets have already been given to Barbara Gordon and Tim Drake respectively, since the 90s.

I don't think Dick will ever be allowed to truly be different and great until he is away from both Titans and Batfam tbh both those parts of the DC world kind of hold Dick back. He is blending in, instead of standing out with those two groups. I think Dick needs new content to interact with. Remember, it took creating an entirely new property (New Teen Titans) and mantle (Nightwing) for Dick for him to become popular in the first place. It'll probably need to happen again. It took Batman almost 40 years to actually gain traction as a character and even then; it wasn't until after Killing Joke (1988) that Batman became the powerhouse he is today. So Nightwing still has lots of time to play catch up.

hi! you don’t come off as rude at all! and i’ll try my best to give you as much info as i can off the top of my head!

so, being trans means to identify as a gender other than the one assigned to you at birth. the white stripe in the trans flag actually includes all non-binary genders. there are both binary and non-binary trans people, so while both groups fall under the trans umbrella, non-binary identities (genderfluid, genderqueer, agender, etc.) sit under a small umbrella within the bigger one.

i obviously can’t say this without being clear that i don’t know every single person on tumblr dot com, but i haven’t come across a single person who believes harry is a binary trans woman (an amab who identifies exclusively as a woman). when we say harry is trans, we mean we think that harry has a non-binary gender, which is still considered trans, so we think he’s a non-binary trans person.

he’s spoken about gender, and about femininity/masculinity and his own personal relationship to this with more consideration than you can ever expect from a cis man.

thematically speaking, fine line just screams gender. we know that harry puts a lot of thought into his image, into how he will be perceived. we also know that he loves a good callback, he loves weaving together an intricate narrative (eroda exists), and that he has never met a coincidence in his life. 

the cover of his album has the colors of the trans flag (he’s the white in the flag) while the photos inside have the colors of the non-binary flag (x), which came from a deliberate collaboration between harry and tim walker, a gay photographer who explores queer themes in his work. from the guardian interview:

“In terms of how I wanna dress, and what the album sleeve’s gonna be, I tend to make decisions in terms of collaborators I want to work with. I want things to look a certain way. Not because it makes me look gay, or it makes me look straight, or it makes me look bisexual, but because I think it looks cool. there are plenty of lyric analyses of she and fine line (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 +) though my favorite part about these songs is that in she, he alternates between his normal register and falsetto which happens when he switches between describing the man and woman, and he sings the entirety of fine line in falsetto (though it really hits different from the la one night only show)

he’s grown more comfortable with wearing things that lend well to his feminine expression, both for performances/appearances, and his personal life, like his vibrantly colored nails which he’s said he feels naked without now, or his pearl necklace (which he wore under a hoodie during christmas with his family), or his precious pink and lavender shoe strings.

there’s genuinely so many more examples like people close to him using female pronouns and neutral/fluid language to talk about harry, including the lovely harris reed who is genderfluid, or the fact that he can’t seem to shut up about childbirth, plus things i’ll refrain from mentioning because they discuss his body image meaning it’s more speculative than things that have been shown to the public so not necessarily evidence

oh! also he has a mermaid tattoo (which has a connection to the trans community in the UK) and when asked why he got it, he simply said “it’s because i’m a mermaid”

also also honorable mention to the fact that harry idolizes female artists and the fact that stevie nicks has taken him under her wing, which she has only done for budding female artists, and introduced him to the coven, which frankly, when has any man ever

so that’s some of the reasons why we think harry is trans. i’d also like to mention that the majority of us who are comfortable enough to have this conversation are trans ourselves, and we feel a personal connection to him and the signaling he’s done over the years, we see a bit (or a lot) of ourselves in his journey to self-discovery, or he’s made us realize our own identities just by being himself.

he has to take over his father’s company one day duh 

also i genuinely think damian would excel in this field 

he’s a very keeps to himself kinda guy in uni

like you only ever see him in your common classes and then he just

disappears 

anyways there was this party that everyone was going to, and damian wasn’t planning to

but dick accidentally read some groupchat’s messages and was like are u going

damian went 🏃🏻‍♀️

but dick was like go and try to make friends !!!! 

and dames cant say no to his big bro 🥺 so he goes

stays in a corner on the settings app the entire time

like half an hr in he just leaves and is walking home/back to his dorm when you come like rushing up to him 

you’re zooming 

and then you just latch onto his hand and lean up to press a kiss to his cheek, whispering in his ear “this person’s been following me for like 15 mins just please go along w this” 

he kinda stiffens but when he does notice that there’s a person eyeing you he slips his arm around your waist and just carries on walking

he walks you to your home/dorm and is like

so awkward 

but it’s okay ! ur a people’s person enough for the two of you 

you thank him so much over and over 

and then you’re like 

“can i take you out on a real date?” 

and then he becomes ur real boyfriend hehe

is still super stiff but it’s only bc he’s so hyper aware of how attractive you are

and i’m super positive he doesn’t have that much experience with dating so 

you hold the reigns 

but he’s a great boyfriend all in all tbh 

super attentive, super protective, and so loving 

isn’t into pda especially on college campus but he does like subtle pda

things like linking your pinkies or giving you his hoodie to just parade around campus hehe
