bout to make a Monster of a fic rec post here we go

heyo @jinx108! We’ll start with the complete ones because sometimes you’re just not in the mood to wait for the last chapter, you know? I don't remember details of all of these so i’m just going to copy the author’s summary rather than write my own. I am literally just going through my bookmarks, I got 400 of these to sort through. if ive talked to or am familiar with the author im gonna mention them, but if I mention you and you don't want me to have Please tell me and i’ll remove it.

If you’re not into spoilers Please Tread Carefully, I don't watch out for that stuff so I wont know to label it

1>Crushing Truth by Bunzuku: Tododeku. “Romance is hard enough for a teenager to understand when they have a good relationship role model. For Shoto, it takes two excited meddlers for him to even realize what his feelings really are.“

2>Disowned by b00mgh: tododeku + others. Unrated, some traumatic elements. “Shouto freaks out under a bridge and I use the word "grass" a lot more than I really should. Izuku does his stupid martyr thing and everyone makes continuous references to his propensity to break his bones. Aizawa goes "oh FUCK my kids are dying again" and his students use him as emotional (and physical) support. A friend requests angst, I say what kind, she say idk make someone get disowned and i say oh this I can absolutely provide my good buddy.”

3>cotton candy hands by @chonideno: Kiribaku. I will take Any excuse to rec this fic, its the most fluffy pile of feels Good Lord. also the first fic I ever bound into a physical book. “Studying to become a hero requires knowing how to take care of yourself. Sometimes you might need help on the way so if your crush offers to do your hair for you or to give you a well-deserved back rub, it'd be stupid to say no. A series of soft vignettes in which a love-struck Kirishima and a touch-starved Bakugou care for each other and it's definitely not making their hearts jump through hoops, they’re never this close to kissing, no, they're totally best friends bro“

4>Catching Sight of the Storm by neo7v: Kiribaku, tododeku. A considerable amount of Whump and related angst, and kinda sad tbh. “Blind. Quirkless. Useless.The first two things were stated clearly by the doctor that sat about five feet in front of Izuku. The third was a word that Kacchan called him everytime he failed to make the jump on whatever forest excursion they were on or when he ran into a tree because he hadn’t seen it. “I’m so, so sorry, Izuku.” Was his mom giving up on him already? But he could still be a hero if he tried hard enough, right? Quirkless or not. Blind or not. 5>Yell Heah by fakecharliebrown: Chatfic. M a n y pairings. technically complete, but part of an ongoing series. “Iida creates a group-chat for Class 1-A. It doesn't go as planned.“

6>Sunshine by Rosey_Note: BIG SAD. tw- failed suicide attempt. KiriKamiBaku. “They didn't deserve to put up with his crappy mood. Because Denki Kaminari did not feel like Sunshine right now. And they deserved sunshine. In fact, Denki didn't feel much of anything right now.“

7>Electric Connection by Onlymostydead: ShinKami. “Kaminari's quirk has always had... Weird side affects. Like his ADHD. And his constant energy. And his insomnia, which wouldn't leave him be right now, when he really needed to just get some sleep. But, thankfully, he has good friends.“

8>The Best (The Worst) by Onlymostydead: no romantic pairing. tw- rampant transphobia, both outside and internalized. “Bakugou Katsuki has known who he was since he was four years old. He was a boy, it was as simple as that. Around his friends, at school... But things couldn't just be that simple, could they?“

11>Pickup Lines for the Soul by MustardSoup: ShinKami. “Denki is twelve when he is flicking through the TV channels and lands on an old RomCom movie about soulmate marks – specifically the same type that he has. “I can’t believe I’ve had to walk around with a cheap pickup line written on my ankle my entire life because of you!” The leading lady yells at the leading man as he stares at her in awe. Denki laughs. “Oh no.” His mother says, watching him. “Oh no, indeed.” His sister repeats quietly.“

13>not so summer love by nataliya: ShinKami. “Class 2-B’s common room, although typically quiet, was currently filled with five students—three slowly giving up on homework, one bitching about noise and another that rushes through the front door. “We’ve been waiting for you—” Mina starts, but Kaminari’s vaulting over the back of the couch, eyes wide as he practically buzzes out of his skin, emitting light like crazy as currents dazzle across strands of hair. “I have a big ugly crush,” He steps off the couch and onto the coffee table, much to Bakugou’s chagrin, “On big ugly Shinsou.””

14>Blamed by coldandhotsoba: ShinKami. Tw- they fuckin kill a guy and its a lil nasty. “This was not how the day was supposed to end. They were supposed to end the day like they do most nights. Kaminari clutching onto him like a koala as he slept, wrapped in the millions of tacky blankets Kaminari had bought. Warm and safe in their bed. It was not supposed to end with both of them tied up in some cold metal room.“

15>Lightning Scars by Present-Mics-Scream (write_your_way_out): Shinkami. “It's hard to be confident in your abilities when you're surrounded by people with incredible quirks. Shinsou Hitoshi would know better than anyone. Sure, he was admitted to the hero course in his second year, but being admitted to the hero course, and keeping up with the rest of the class are two different things. Lucky for him, Kaminari is there to prove that the flashiest quirks come with the largest drawbacks.“

16>See No Evil, Hear No Evil by randomfan188: no romantic pairing. “Kaminari Denki is legally blind. When he forgets to wear his contacts and breaks down during math class, comfort appears in the strangest of ways.“

He wants to help.“

21>Petition to replace Mineta with Shinsou- (signed by Kaminari Denki) by CharaTheQuartz: ShinKami + others. This is one of my favorites, I go back to reread it from time to time. It SAYS 41/42, but that's just a glitch cus chapter 36 doesn't exist for some reason, I talked to the author about it and its fine. “Mineta brings shame to the color purple. You know who does not bring shame to the rich color, but pride and sexual tension to one infatuated Kaminari Denki instead? Shinsou Hitoshi, aka sexy zombie man, aka the most perfect hunk of a man to walk planet earth, aka future husband. Shinsou has finally gotten his chance to prove himself to the hero course, and he did more than prove himself. The only question left unanswered is whether he will start in A or B, and how Kaminari can manipulate the end result.“

22>How to Get a Boyfriend (in Four Easy Steps!) by e1ana: ShinKami, EraserMic, + others. “Step 1: Get kicked out of the house by your homophobic parents. Step 2: Run headfirst into your brooding, mysterious crush. Step 3: Sleep in his dad’s (see: your homeroom teacher) house Step 4: Watch everything you thought you knew go to shit. This isn’t exactly the sweet, romantic plan that Kaminari Denki longed for. Will everything be ok, or will step 5 be to crash and burn?“

23>Bakugou and Todoroki’s Foolproof 5-Step Plan to Fuck with Mineta Minoru by Anubis_2701: Kiribaku, TodoDeku, + others. This is another one of my favorites, and the one I am currently folding and sewing into a physical book. you learn how to do funny things when bored and quarantined ig. “It was a simple enough idea; screw around with the resident bastard of Class 1-A to let him know that his medieval ways and perverted behaviour weren't going to be tolerated by even the most career-focused of UA's students. To say that things had snowballed was an understatement. Todoroki had no idea how he had ended up sitting on Bakugou's floor at 1 am, holding a dossier of incriminating material that would make the FBI slobber, but he wasn't sure he wanted to know. The long and short of it was, fuck Mineta.”

24>Colour Theory by chancellorxofxtrash: TodoBakuDeku. this one’s a series. “Midoriya/Bakugo/Todoroki slow burn soulmate AU. All three of them are nerds with their own emotional issues, trying to navigate their way through becoming heroes, and their own relationship with each other.“

26>The snowflakes on our skin and the flames in our soul are one (and the same), my love by missunderstuffyou: TodoDeku, Kiribaku. this is one of the ones I keep a running reread comment going on. its at,,, 6, atm. “Before your quirk begins to present itself, the soulmate link comes through, and suddenly whatever you write upon your own skin appears on the body of your soulmate. As your soulmate writes to you, the emotions they feel follow through the ink.Izuku Midoriya is four years and a few months old when he first feels the slight ebbing in his arms. It doesn’t hurt… he can just feel something, and it’s enough to make him sprint into his mother’s arms screaming that his quirk is coming. She had been washing in the kitchen, and the sudden screech as her son rockets into her side is enough to make her jump with panic, immediately grabbing at him and looking for cuts and bumps before she understands his words and the stupidly bright, alight smile on his face with large, watery, hopeful eyes. Kirishima and Kaminari still hang out to complain about class and talk about boys - and sometimes girls, too, in Kaminari’s case; he still plans stupid pranks with Sero that get them sent to the principal’s or nurse’s office every time; Ashido still kicks his ass at Mario Kart without hesitation; and Bakugou doesn’t get angry at him any more than he usually does.“

He’s got on a jean jacket that did him absolutely no help and a white tee shirt that is currently stuck to his torso. It’s got a pikachu design in the center. “By any chance, do you sell umbrellas?” “You really went out in this weather.” Hitoshi deadpans, instead of dignifying that with an answer. or hitoshi works the midnight shift at the gas station, which also doubles as a pokestop for pokemon go. of course, denki is a regular.”

The ash-blond looked really nervous, his usually arrogant and cunning demeanor gone. “What do you see when you look at me? Kirishima is worried. Bakugou is hurting. After his confrontation with Midoriya, he finally reaches out to him. “

Maybe transfer into the hero course, maybe be a hero- but none of that was guaranteed. The only thing for sure was that he was going to stay in that center for the rest of his childhood. "Can we activate our quirks before we step into the ring?" Aizawa looked up into the sky, muttering something Izuku didn't hear. "If you must." "O-Okay. Uh, second question. You said we have to stay inside the circle, right?" "Yes." The man looked disappointed, not only in Izuku but in himself for letting the kid speak. "Great. Uh... does that include tails?"“ 6/? chapters.

Potentially Spoilery, depends on whether horikoshi has the guts to confirm Touya. this one is waiting around the corner with a baseball bat, its really cute, and then r e a l l y painful. it might be getting better though. maybe. it might be getting worse. “When Touya stops his mother from hurting Shouto, he decides enough is enough. He needs to get out of this house and he's taking his baby brother with him.“ 33/? chapters.

Hoseok took you on small date to the park. Despite your lesson being done for he had insisted that he should keep the promise about taking you out. You had small picnic next to small lake where ducks had habit of swimming. You goofed around and took pictures together. Your favorite picture about you and Hoseok has ended up to your phone wallpaper. Hoseok's hand was tied loosely around your waist and he pressed his lips on your cheek when you looked to the camera smiling widely on the pic. You were looking at your screen and smiling fondly to your memories when tap on your shoulder disturbs your daydreaming. You turn around and see widely smiling Jin in front of you. You had decided to take your lunch break at nearby sandwich restaurant instead eating on theater's break room.

''Oh hi Jin, what are you doing here?'' You ask when Jin sits with his food on free chair next to you. Jin is wearing loose white shirt with blue pants used by doctors. ''I'm going to meet Namjoon here for lunch but instead I pumped into you.'' Jin smiles happily for seeing you. ''Like usually he is running late.'' His smile turns into frown. ''That sucks.'' You take a bite from your sandwich and smile sympathetically. ''Well I'm used to it. Namjoon has been like this since high school.'' ''I didn't know that you guys have known each other for so long.'' You are surprised. Jin leans closer. ''Wanna hear a secret?''

''Sure, go ahead.'' You are excited. ''Me and Namjoon used to date on high school.'' Jin winks and pulls away. You almost choke to your bread and begging couching. ''Oh my god I'm sorry.'' Jin panics and is ready to stand up but you signal him to wait and take big gulp from your drink. ''It's okay.'' You assure clearing your throat. ''Is Jin trying to kill you?'' familiar voice comes from your behind and Namjoon stands behind you smiling widely. Whats it with men sneaking behind you today without you noticing? Namjoon is wearing black suit-pants with matching jacket and baby blue shirt underneath it. ''I hope not.'' You answer and Namjoon pulls chair for himself. ''I'm sorry that I'm late. My meeting took longer than I first expected.'' Namjoon tells and grabs extra sandwich from Jin's tray. He peels the wrap of and bites his bread hungrily. He lets small moan and closes his eyes. ''I really needed this. So Jin what you said to Y/N to make her choke?'' ''I told about our dating history.'' Jin says innocently. ''I see.'' Namjoon smirks. ''It was long time ago and we ended up separating when our lives pulled us in different directions. Jin wanted to become a veterinarian and I left to business school into another city. I only returned here two years ago.'' ''So you guys are into women as well?'' After all they had asked you on date... ''Yep.'' They both say in unison. ''It seem to be quite common to like both genders in your group of friends.'' you think out loud. ''Well Kookie, Tae and Hobi are all straight. Me and Namjoon are bisexuals, Yoongi gets interested on someone based on their personality not their gender and Jimin accepts everything when it comes to sex. I have heard that he had dated only women though.'' Jin tells generously. ''So he has actually dated someone?'' You ask curiously. Jimin hasn't been quite open about his dating life. ''Yeah, long time ago. I think its his story to tell and not ours.'' Namjoon smiles apologetic. ''Its okay,I'll ask him about it then. Look it was really nice to see you guys but I have to go, my break is almost over.'' You tell glancing your watch. ''Bye Y/N, it was nice to see you even if briefly. I'll ask you out soon, but right now I'm too busy with work.'' Jin tells. His words makes you excited, soon would be his turn to take you on date and perhaps give you some lessons... ''I have same problem. When I'm able to close my current business deal I will contact you.'' Namjoon sighs in defeat. He looks really tired because his work. ''There is no need to rush. I will look forward our dates.''

You feel like a rock when you fall on your bed. You had late night sift and you had to keep fake smile on your face while selling tickets. You are ready to doze of when your phone beeps. You chuckle for your own lame joke when the blank screen changes and Yoongi appears on the screen. He is wearing white loose shirt, which is slightly see trough, with black tight boxers alongside black choker on his elegant neck. Yoongi is sitting on wide bed with blood red satin sheets and behind him is window with same colored curtains covering the window. The camera focus is on the bed and you can't see the other parts of the room. The chat goes wild when Yoongi appears. h0eforsuga: *Suga looks extremely good like always.* manwhore3: *I wish I could lick his body :P* sugamonster: *gimme some suga, my sweet tooth is itching.* Soon the first three comments are buried under the thirsty messages which turns even more hornier as time goes by. You blush when you are reading them and decide focus on Yoongi instead. Like on cue Yoongi grins slyly when your eyes are focused on his figure. ''It seems that I have been missed. Have you guys been good?'' His voice is low coming trough your speakers. Choir of yes answers fulls the chat and Yoongi's smirk grows wider when he reads the replays. Like the reason Oliver was even behind the wheel that night, despite the fact that he’d been drinking, in the misguided attempt to save his mother from herself, the toxic relationship between his dad and alcoholic mother, and Lauren’s own relationship with her mother and the secrets she was keeping from her. All come to a head that night and are slowly and painfully peeled back, exposing harsh truths and the damage they can do to each other and the consequences of those actions.

I have a soft spot for Barry Lyga’s books, particularly the I Hunt Killers series. This features the son of a serial killer over 3 books. Also, the audiobooks narrated by Charlie Thurston make it even better. He seriously nails ‘dear old dad’s voice perfectly. Think Spencer Reid from Criminal Minds, but younger and much more psychologically damaged.

Barry Lyga also wrote Boy Toy . This is quite a taboo subject but very emotionally hitting. It’s about a young teen (17?) who finds out the woman he lost his virginity to when he was 12 - his teacher - is being released from prison early. The story flits between present day and when he was 12 and the following months/years. It was sometimes uncomfortable reading but refreshing to read from a male point of view.

Split by Swati Avasthi . This starts with Sixteen-Year-Old Jace Witherspoon arriving at his estranged brother Christian’s apartment after being beaten by his dad. They haven’t spoken in years. Christian has built his life up again after years of abuse and had hoped his younger brother escaped it. Of course, with Christian out of the way, Jace takes the brunt of it. After an incident with his dad and some unspecified event (that you learn about as the book develops) Jace arrives hoping to tentatively re-build his relationship with the brother who walked out on him. This book deals with domestic and child abuse. Also fits perfectly into my love for protective brothers in books.

Last Seen Leaving by Caleb Roehrig . This was an interesting read with a mystery that keeps you turning the pages. The main protagonist’s ex-girlfriend has disappeared. Nothing seems to make sense. As well as the mystery factor it’s also a story of self-discovery for the MC. This is really a gem of a read. The only issue I had with it is the characters seem much older than they are depicted in the book, but that’s really only a slight issue.

Lisa Henry (aka @thisdiscontentedwinter ) and J.A. Rock have written some of my fave books. The above recs were more YA and these are definitely not: The Good Boy (and it’s sequel) is both an angsty and kinky read. Lane’s parents have been found guilty of fraud. His mother is in prison and his dad’s on the run. Lane - suspected of being involved and wholly innocent - has been left with nothing and ends up trusting the wrong person. Physically and emotionally hurt and traumatized, Lane is taken in by the one person he never thought would help - Derek, one of the victims of the fraud. It’s a dom and sub story, pupply play and some BDSM. This was one of my first forays into MM fic and remains one of my faves.

When All the World Sleeps is probably my third favourite of the pair. It features a guy who sleepwalks. And when he sleepwalks he kind of does some serious shit. Like setting fire to Kenny’s house. With Kenny inside. Now he’s back home after serving his time and lives in a cabin by himself where he chains himself to the bed so he doesn’t do anything stupid. Like kill someone. Too bad people wont leave him alone. Then there’s the cop who doesn’t believe him. Cue some sexual tension. Of course, after some retribution from the townsfolk leaves the MC unable to save himself, the cop can’t quite rightfully leave him alone and chained up at night. so he agrees to do it for him. And the more time they spend together the more they fall into each other’s lives. Dom and Sub.

Less kinky and much more lighthearted is the Playing the Fool series. I think I have recced this before. This is seriously one of my fave series. Henry is a con-artist who has witnessed a mob-hit in the middle of his own hustle. Mac is the FBI agent who is tasked with finding the errant witness. Need I say more? Well, I will because no matter how many times I read this series (3 of them) I end up cracking up every time. Henry is a hoot. Charming to everyone except Mac who he enjoys winding up. They’re a perfect pair. Kind of.

Of course, it’s not all a laugh a minute. You can’t have a Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock without a little angst thrown in. They sprinkle just enough of Henry’s backstory throughout the series to explain some of the reasons he is the way he is without giving too much away. If any character is going to stay with you after you’ve finished reading, it’s going to be Henry.

Oh, and I suggest you read it with the audiobook too. I love Nick. J. Russo’s voice.

Five in a Bed series by M.A. Blisher - this is polyamorous. Domestic Discipline. And Daddy kink. One of my guilty pleasures. But there is a backstory to Danny and heaps of psychological angst so it’s not just a pwp offering.

Shadow of the Templar series by M. Chandler . Jeremy Archer. Art Thief. Simon Drake. FBI. UST galore. Actually, there’s not a lot of sex in the series. A lot is fade to black scenes. And that’s what makes the series so great. It’s not pwp. It doesn’t need sex to make me want to read the series. There’s actual plot. Cases. Action. And the fact that Jeremy and Simon both circle in and out of each other’s orbits. There’s selfishness, there’s conflicts of interest. There’s feelings. There’s sacrifices. And really, with their backgrounds and history, Simon and Jeremy existed before they were even Simon and Jeremy. * excuse me while I immerse myself in their orbits *.

Although I am yet to read all of the series, I quite enjoy the Voices series by Sarah Masters - psychic and detective. working together. smexy times. Enough said.

Old School Discipline by Misha Horne - if you are familiar with this author then you’ll know spanking will be involved. And I just love characters who have smart mouth’s and bratty characteristics.
