Happy WBW! Is it known who the first documented inutilia was and what happened to them?

Ah it's almost midnight my time I should answer this!!

I believe I made up the name Carlton Wanser on the spot to be the first documented Inutilia, approximately 100 years before the present of TSP. I don't have a concrete explanation of what happened to him, and after the day I had midnight isn't the best place for improvising a solid answer.

However, I do have a bit of an idea that I can tell you. Carlton was the first of many, and unfortunately I believe he would have been in the news. Science and discovery is very important in Alium, so the change in the database would cause a stir. At age ten his name would be in journals (I don't personally think Alium would care much for privacy rights for minors) and he may have been interviewed.

But of course it'd be negative attention. People would talk down to him, ask inappropriate questions. The kid himself would feel like some sort of failure. Would experience bullying.

Of course, since he made the news, once another came up there would be more of a panicked reaction from those who believe one's worth lies in their powers, which is unfortunately a lot of them. As more and more happen, there would be investigations on what may be causing it, conspiracy theories, etc. Eventually, Carlton Wanser became lost in the shuffle, but no one forgot his name, especially on history tests.

In a previous draft I had a minor character in the Refugae be a descendant of him, but I think I'll change that (or not, we'll see). I see multiple futures for him:

He becomes an activist, but is still treated as a part of the past well before his death.

He escapes to Ceteri and lives out his life normally.

Something very bad happens to him, either due to how he's treated by his peers or how his parents treated him.

And I think all three would be interesting outcomes, so I'm stuck on which one would be the most interesting in the context of TSP.

oh my goodness I'm glad you like them and that I could introduce them to you!! I feel like so so much of their music and lyrics put words to parts of mental illness and recovery (especially "rust" and "ramblings of a lunatic" my beloved <33) that no one else really does and they just,, GET IT. but also the way they talk about friends and insecurity and wanting to get better but finding it hard. they make me feel seen more than any other artist I think and I love to have the opportunity to share that <33

Happy STS round 2! What level of medical knowledge exists in Alium?

A lot of medical knowledge, due to advanced tech because, well, they have healers as a decent part of their population (the fifth most common).

Healers can sense what's wrong in someone who's sick. Even if they don't have the medical expertise, they would be able to tell where the problem was, and a general idea of what's going on, even if they don't know the exact terminology. Most healers are encouraged to study medicine due to their abilities, for better or worse.

Healers can also, of course, heal to varying degrees. For example, Level-1 healers would be able to close up wounds and prevent blood loss, but wouldn't be able to heal more cell damage, such as burns. Level-2 healers can heal burns, and Level-3 healers can prevent scarring.

The way powered-healing works is that they have significantly higher macrophages, which healers are encouraged to donate, and those can be used to create antidotes, medications, vaccines, etc. Healers also have the ability to boost mitochondrial energy production and regeneration, more ATP energy, and enhanced cell signalling to repair the damaged cells. With the proper samples, technology did develop to semi-replicate this ability in for relatively minor injuries. Does this make Level-1 healers feel obsolete? Yeah. It does, thanks for asking.

In summary, Alium has higher medical tech due to healers being common enough.

Alium Worldbuilding Part I

All Maps are Made Using Inkarnate 

Alium: An Alternate Earth Dripping with Magic.

In the World of Alium, Humanity has lived alongside Magical Races since the very beginning of their History.

The power and existence of these races, and the spirits and Gods that lord over them both have reshaped the world in a number of ways.

The First Oldworlders to discover the new world were Atlanteans fleeing the destruction of their home.

The existence of the Mayan and Aztec Gods kept the Spanish from taking over their lands.

The Thirteen Colonies were formed by British settlers fleeing an invasion of Elves backing the Returned Mordred.

And on the story goes.

In the 2020s, the current war raging across the world is between the Heart of Gaea, who wish to save the soul of their world and the wilds it resides within, and the March of Progress, who through greed and passion continue the innovation of science and magic, the consequences be damned.

Running down a very short description of the countries(Since I'm still workshopping this world)

Iceland: Not much has changed, outside of the Fae living amongst the geothermal hotsprings.

Lieflund: Pushed from their homes by aggressive Stonefolk(Humans and their relatives) the Trolls took to the seas, settling and forming the largest solely Alium controlled nation in the Northern Hemisphere.

New Emperia split from the United Territories following World War I following the influx of Elves fleeing Europe, New Emperia City is still as lively as it's real world counterpart, though with a definitive magical overtone to much of the cities structure.

The United Territories: Outside of the territorial differences, and the basis upon which it was founded the capital has been moved to Keystone, a crossroad between New Emperia, The Five Nations and the Territories.

The Five Nations: A union of Native American Tribes that held firm against outsider interference, home to some of the strongest magical spirits that remain on the Material.

The Kingdom of Tennessee: Ruled by the King aka Elvis Presley, the people of Tennessee are devoted to the art of music and necromancy

Las Islas Doradas:  A coalition of formerly Spaniard holdings, that make their money off their pristine beaches, lively nightlife, and the Fountain of Youth.

Aztelan: A fusion of a continuing Aztec culture and Mexico, Alium wanders the street in droves alongside the Beloved Dead, they have very tense relations with the United Territories.

Maya'Nur: A fusion of Mayan and Atlantean culture, that held out against the expansionist Aztecs and Spaniards using the Magic of the Calender.

Nicaragua and Panama: Outside of some territory changes and outside influences from their neighboring nations they have not changed very much.

Cascadia: Bigfoot Land, that is all.

Land of the Midnight Sun: A strong-hold of the Heart of Gaea movement, the peoples of the LMS have been at the forefront of clean energy replacements and a safe-haven  for beings not recognized as Citizens in other countries.
