Concept: Miasma
Miasma in the context of witchcraft is energetic "poisons" in the air either from malevolent spirits, harmful auras, or the aftermath of a curse. These poisons can sap energy, taint magical tools, and affect the outcome of a spell.
To purify miasmic air, the best methods to use are:
Strong incenses to cancel out the type of miasma.
Gemstones that can absorb the miasma and then later be cleansed.
Candles that can produce a protective barrier around the afflicted area.
Breath and meditiation to clear the mind and purify thoughts.
Types of miasma:
Stale: This type has been sitting for so long that it's seeped into the walls and tainted nearby objects, either because this space belonged to someone else or it hasn't been spiritually maintained over a long period of time. A place affected by stale miasma will have air that feels heavy as soon as one passes the threshold. Intensive purification of every inch of the space is required using incense or a purifying candle.
Lingering: This type is the result of performing a curse or hex and not only stays in the room where the spell was performed, but can cling to the person who performed it. This type of miasma feels staticky and clings to one's aura in a way that changes its color and makes it feel like needles. Quick purification of the space and the person is required, and a protective object (a spell jar, satchel, protective gemstone, etc.) should be carried by the person at all times until the next full moon.
Penetrative: The most dangerous of miasmas, this one permeates the mind and affects dreams. Penetrative miasma can make the afflcited feel lethargic and have blurred or disjointed thoughts. A meditative grounding spell must be performed and then an aromatherapy-based purification ritual. The afflicted will need to keep a protective and purifying gemstones under their pillow at night until the next full moon, and that gemstone will need cleansing.
Contained: An almost harmless type of miasma that gets trapped within magical objects usually used for ritual and spells. This can happen if the object was moved from a miasmic location or handled by someone with a bad aura. The object may not work as intended or it may feel unusually heavy in the hand. Purify these objects as you normally would but be sure to finish cleansing it by passing it through incense smoke or keeping it near a lit candle for a while.
It's important to note that this is magic that deals with the Air element and using Air magic is the most effective way to dissolve miasma in any form. This means using incense, candles, gemstones aligned with Air, wind, sound, mirrors, meditation, or breath will work best.

I know the answer is "magic" but I still wonder how Old Kingdom necromancers and abhorsens don't get tissue damage from all that ice buildup. <- posts I acknowledge Nicholas Sayre would also make

Elemental Work Crash Course
Hello friends! As a west witch I find myself in a lot of elemental spaces, but as an elemental pagan I feel like we get little to no representation without wicca being present so this post is for all my friends who may be looking into elemental work and want to know what to expect! This is an introductory post so if anyone is interested in further information let me know in the comments!
Earth
Common Lessons tend to include grounding, understanding your place within it all like your social circles, life itself, or even the ecosystem. People also tend to find out how to see beauty even when they feel there is none, home and hearth magic, generational magic, and harnessing your own power. Its important to recognize earth is extremely giving, often giving things without expecting anything in return. Remember to give back to the earth when you can in your practice, it isn't fair to take things without giving back. Eventually earth takes all things back from the living, so remember that earth is as powerful as she is kind
Darker Aspect/Element: Rot
How to honor and find these teachings:
Going out in nature
Taking care of plants
Herbal work
Community service
Exploring
Grounding and meditation outdoors
Connecting to earth itself
Evaluating what it means to be human
Common forms of divination
Osteomancy (Burning Bones)
Abacomancy (Dirt)
Dendromancy (Tree reading)
Falling petals or leaves
Air
Common lessons from air tend to be quick and ever present, air speaks rather quickly to people and messages change! Its best to keep a log of signs and messages you receive because it tends to be a pebble trail on your journey. Air teaches how to keep calm in tense situations, creating your own path on the journey of life, going with the wind and learning to not value materialistic lifestyles, plus learning how to be more gentle with yourself and others!
Darker Aspect: Tempest
How to honor and find these teachings:
Breath work
Spontaneity and leaving your comfort zone
Living to the fullest (however that might look for you!)
Dance or Hand motions
Meditations
Keeping sword or athame imagery as a talisman
Storm tracking
Common forms of divination:
Smoke Scrying
Wind Watching
Electromancy (By Lightning)
Austromancy (By Clouds)
Fire
Common lessons in fire encourage you to listen closely and not rely so much on searching for messages. In most mythos fire speaks once per session, when its burnt out usually the message is over. Fire teaches us how to be confident in our work, ambition, and performance. Fire likes to throw a lot at you and teach you adaptability, and most importantly how to be the best you can be. You can learn a lot from just a little flame.
Darker Aspect: Magma
How to Honor these teachings:
Practicing Confidence
Glamour Magic
Using your backbone/saying no more
Making friends in odd places
Hosting bonfires/tending to a hearth fire
Using candle magic
Common forms of divination:

Water
Common lessons range depending on what you are looking for! Water can teach you how to be calm and collected, but also encourages you to be fluid! so if you need to unleash the flood you know when its appropriate to do so. You also learn how to go with the flow, how to be persistent, and how to be a fierce enigma. Water is also very humbling at times, so you will learn a lot about yourself.
Darker Aspect: Abyss
How to honor these teachings:
Emotion based meditations
Shadow work
Being in tune with yourself
Swimming
Boating
Fishing
Beach cleanups
Exploring your waterways

The fact that Orym can only tell all of this information about Ludinus to the Flameguide because Bells Hells walked into the site of his plans ON FOOT is fucking insane. Send all the airships you want. For all the intelligence and resources and power and gods you claim to have backing your secluded society of pricks, all of it is useless in the face of TAKING A LITERAL FUCKING HIKE.

Jude’s exile from Vivi’s perspective
a short fic I wrote ((((:
word count: 707
Heartbreak is not something I’m experienced in. I doubt most of the folk are. Most of them think we can’t even get our hearts broken, so maybe it came as a surprise when Heather broke mine.
I can’t tell if I’m less or more experienced in other peoples heartbreaks, but I sure can tell Jude just had one when she shows up at my apartment door with red rimmed eyes and her head held low.
“Jude?” I say, taking in her disheveled appearance. “What happened?”
My sister stumbles into the apartment behind me, immediately falling into a sitting position on the couch. The despairing look in her eyes is almost haunting.
“He exiled me, Vivi.” Her voice is rough, like she’s been crying or she hasn’t talked in awhile. “He exiled me.”
She sounds weak when she says those words, tired and beaten. Broken.
So I am surprised when she gets up and throws the nearest vase against the wall. She screams like I have never heard her scream before, and then she sits back down on the couch and puts her head in her hands.
I do nothing but watch in shock and confusion.
The days after Jude shows up are only filled with more sadness. Now that there is two of us suffering, it feels like the despair is echoing off walls and won’t stop ringing through the small space of my apartment.
Jude sits on the couch with a bowl of cereal and watches bad quality mortal shows. I make food for her that she barley eats and try to explain to Oak what happened with Jude in the easiest way possible.
I think it’s hard for him to swallow seeing his brave, knife-wielding, king controlling older sister broken and blue. Sitting on the couch looking mortal, for the first time he’s ever seen.
I think at one point even in my mind Jude had become like the folk. She was clever, and brave, and smart. Now she was heartbroken just like me.
Not that she’d ever admit it. I know she still claims to hate Cardan, but I can see it in the way she talks about him and cries over him at night.
I think she loved him.
Jude is the Queen of Elfhame. It took me awhile to understand that when she told me, and it’s not any easier now that she’s in the living room mindlessly watching television.
But she is. She’s the Queen of Elfhame, and not only is she mortal, but she’s also exiled.
I’m a faerie, but I’m in love with a mortal who doesn’t understand our world or me. I’m heartbroken just the same, yet I feel obligated to fix Jude’s problems along with mine.
I let out a breath and rest my head on my arms. Maybe Jude has it right. An easier life is a better one.
I know I’d rather be watching cartoons than be the Queen of Faerie.
So the days go by full of nothing but sadness and a feeling of waiting. Jude gets dangerous jobs she doesn’t need, and I continue to text Heather nonstop well also taking care of Oak and trying to figure out where Jude is half the time.
When Taryn shows up, I’m not sure I want her here, and I know Jude definitely won’t, but it almost feels like a reprieve from the cycle.
I let her into the house.
When Jude comes home, and they go into their natural course of fighting, once again I am waiting.
This time, I’m not surprised with what happens. Jude chooses to go.
I don’t know Jude as the Queen of Faerie, or even Cardan’s seneschal. I don’t know her as the haunted girl who showed up at my door and who sits on the couch for hours.
I know her as my sister, loyal and protective even to Taryn, who has betrayed her more times than I can count. So we send her off with worries and wishes, to pretend to be Taryn and face the man who exiled her.
When me and Taryn go back into the apartment afterwards, it feels like all I’m doing is more waiting. More wondering.
And then Grima Mog knocks on my door.

My take on Keyleth's Timeless Body feature for @artists-guild-of-exandria's Spells n Stuff showcase!
If you want a slightly more detailed breakdown of some of the thought processes behind each panel, check out my thread here on my twitter.
As a general overview- The panels are all separated but sewn together by the threads of fate, still connecting the party. Each of the panels (except for Vax's) have a prominent raven or feather within them, and they all have flowers, to signify visits from both Vax and Keyleth.
I've tried to match up the flowers in each with some fittingly meaningful plant- Vax has his Snowdrops, while Scanlan has a Juniper bonsai. Grog's flower is a Chamomile, which means Energy in Adversity, while Percy's Edelweiss means Devotion and Courage (and translates to Royal+White).
I had a *lot* of fun with this piece, especially trying to add in little details! Keyleth's long lifespan has been on my mind for *years*, and I'm glad I finally managed to draw something that captures that a little bit!
Please do not repost, or use without my permission. Likes and reblogs are appreciated! If you like my drawings, please consider following me, or sharing the commissions link in my pinned post.

Working with Air
Welcome to the third part of my elemental series! Today we will explore some aspects of working with air like offerings, devotional activities, common lessons, aspects, and more! With all that said lets get started!
To preface: I am a devotee to water itself, I am a west witch practioner which means I work within the domain of water, the past, divination, and psyche! I also am a general elemental practioner and have experience working with all of the elements and their aspects!
What is working with air like?
While looking at verified gnosis and cultural nuance some things remain familiar, things like air being both stagnant and rushing, life giving, and more! It is a major backbone (Much like all the elements are for each other) in the way that all organisms that preform aerobic respiration (Air breathing) need oxygen, air, and a form of atmosphere including water based animals. Air does not have a concept of gender (same with all the elements), however you can always ask as a bonding opportunity or follow a cultural addition that may apply pronouns to an element.
In general, air is primordial, but it is considered one of the youngest of the elements mainly because magma, water, and a form of earth had existed before O2, and an actual atmosphere. With that in mind, the air ended up facilitating a lot of growth here on earth, and from there air has many aspects! Air has tempest, dead air, atmosphere, wind, and breath! There are plenty of types of air spirits like syliphs, Sylphons, Spirulites, and more.
Some people work with wind, air anomaly's like tornados and wind storms, and breathwork. Wind and breath teaches more gentle and peaceful lessons about how to take a step back and take a moment for yourself. Someone who works with tempest might receive more lessons relating to coming into your own power and growing a backbone. Each aspect will have different lessons and personality traits, but each of them still follow the same lessons of balance between motion and pause, and even speaking.
In your relationship you may be called to breath work, using feathers, and more that we will be discussing a bit later, however air is will see us like any other animal, and is more apprehensive to engage in a conversation so practioners may have to call out to it first.
UPG: Air is really rushing and sometimes can be overwhelming, and we have had many wonderful conversations relating to hard work, taking things as they come, and not falling into unhealthy stagnation. Air has not been very direct and tends to come as needed into my space and isnt an omnipresent force! In general I have needed to call on it first for information or advice, it is also quite stoic and serious when needed but also upbeat and kind when needed.
Finally, air does have some birth connotations, but they are directly indicative of the relationships it has with other elements. Air cannot do its job in a vacuum like space until some level of atmosphere is established. However 'air' can mean different things to different people, and in a way taking a first breath is life!
What are common offerings?
People tend to keep an altar to air near doorways, windows, and living rooms because of the rush of energy as people walk through doors, the energy of change from windows, and more! historically a lot of air honoring comes from within like being outdoors, having windows open, and doing breath work in a special place because of the motion you can feel from the air.
In air practices there are heavy emphasis on working and action! this comes from most of air needing to be moved to be felt, as often times we dont notice when we are breathing or walking through the precious gas. Moving air like with breath, feathers, and fans can be really helpful.
Some common practices include meditation and breath work, energy motion, dance, song, using feathers, fans, and incense scrying are all really common aspects of work! Another aspect is action, doing divination with clouds, the sky, and smoke is helpful, and then another thing is storm chasing, tracking the weather, and observing the atmosphere can also be really good forms of connection.
