Star Wars: Blood Ties
I've decided to go over bookmarked and saved references I have for my undying love for the Fett lore. I've also decided to writhe in pain for Boba and submit to an endless barrage of praise for everything that he is, stands for, and upholds.
I just want to love on him so much and make him understand how much Jango Fett and Jaster Mereel are beyond proud of what he has become pre and post The Book of Boba Fett.
With the recent end to Season 3 of the Mandalorian with no trace of any spec of Fett in there, I'm still very hopeful that they'll explore the Mand'alore history since they're all about it being "the way".

16, 27, 38 character solidifying asks for Ailyn!
ty jay!! also ignore the fact that this is uhhhhhhhhhh several days late rip.
16. What does your character do for a living? How do they see their profession? What do they like about it? Dislike?
she’s a bounty hunter! along with smth else i am considering for the banter but mostly a bounty hunter. she enjoys the mystery and the adrenaline rush more than killing, but she’s not got any qualms about it for self preservation and also “i became a mandalorian following the great purge and the destruction of alderaan and my main babysitter was one of the last members of the true mandalorians” reasons. she sees it partly as a way to one-up boba again, especially after he gets sarlaac’d -- if she can’t kill him herself, she can at least take his place as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. she also sees it as another connection to her mother, sintas, who was a bounty hunter too. the ghosts of her parents are almost always hanging over her, the difference is just in how she sees them.
27. How do they relate to their appearance? How do they wear their clothing? Style? Quality?
she is very aware of what she looks like, which is both a bad and good thing, because on the one hand she looks way more like boba than she does sintas which is kind of the exact opposite of how she wanted it to go? but if her face is taken out of the equation she’s more confident-- she’s has a lot of energy that she puts into working out and training, both because it’s a reminder that she’s physically strong enough to give boba a good fight if not beat him outright when she finds him, and because she’s been hanging out with jedi for too long and she’s kind of adapted the speed and flexibility into her fighting style, and so being able to move fast enough while in full beskar’s helpful.
she’s more femme in terms of clothing, while still being practical enough to kick ass in should the moment arise. also she really likes blue, pink, and crop tops, with the crop top part being linked directly to the fact that she’s decently muscular and likes to make it known lmao.
38. Are they basically negative when facing new things? Suspicious? Hostile? Scared? Enthusiastic?
ailyn’s mostly cautiously optimistic? she’s pretty decent at adapting to new things but she still views them with a healthy dose of suspicion most of the time.

🤡 For the emoji fanfic writer asks!
From this ask meme.
I answered this here, but I see no reason why I can't answer it again, so: here is a snippet from an AU where Sintas Vel died when Ailyn was only six, and now Fett is stuck trying to figure out wtf to do with a small child. (Spoiler: he is terrible at it.)
Ailyn looked up at him again and asked, “What's the ship's name?”
Behind the opaque visor of his helmet, Fett blinked. “What?” he said.
“The ship.” Ailyn patted the bulkhead beside her with her small brown hand. “What's its name?”
“Nothing,” Fett said. Having learned that Ailyn was at times a literal creature—an admirable trait, and one that more creatures in the galaxy could stand to evince more often—he quickly added in clarification, “It doesn't have one.”
Ailyn frowned at him, her small face crinkling in disappointment. “Everything has to have a name,” she told her, her voice dripping with imperious wisdom.
Fett shrugged helplessly. The ship had an identity transponder, of course (technically it had three, although the two false transponders he could toggle between were highly illegal and, more relevantly, not entirely reliable; they were best used in out-of-the-way places with outdated tech or on quick jobs where no one was likely to bother taking a closer look at the data on their scanners). That was a string of letters and numbers one hundred and forty-two characters long that he had committed to memory so far back in his childhood that he couldn't actually remember when he'd learned them. He could have told Ailyn that, but he knew she was asking for something else.
“The ship needs a name,” she repeated insistently.
Fett cast about wildly for a suitable response. He now regretted being so quick to avoid letting her mistakenly believe that the ship's name was "Nothing." At least that would have been a name. When he had been Ailyn's age, his father had simply called it “the ship.” As in, “wait in the ship, Boba” or “we'll follow them in the ship, Boba” or “get back to the ship, Boba!” There hadn't been a need for anything more specific. For the rare situation when another vehicle was involved in their lives, that was easily clarified by saying something like “the swoop” or “the speeder” or “the Sienar BR-21” instead. The ship was simply the ship.
Ailyn stared at him, her dark eyes full of silent and unshakable demand.
“Ship One,” Fett finally said.
Ailyn raised both her eyebrows. “That's its name?” she asked, in a voice that made it clear that the appropriate answer to her question was “No.”
“Yes,” said Fett.
Ailyn shook her head despairingly. She looked down at the stuffed toy sitting on the bench beside her. “Baba isn't allowed to name things anymore,” she whispered to the toy.

“Jacen…,” said Ben. This wasn’t right. And it wasn’t Jacen. “Jacen, should you—”
“Later.” Jacen glanced back at Ben, startled, as if he’d suddenly remembered he was in the room. “Go and wait outside.”
Ben realized he should have waited a long way from the interrogation room where he couldn’t hear anything, but he felt he had to stay close, as if distancing himself too much would have somehow allowed Jacen to do worse things than he was already doing. So he hurts people. I was pleased that he shot down an enemy fighter, but that guy’s dead. So why do I feel bad when I see him hurt someone? Ben took out his lightsaber and stared at the hilt, trying not to listen to the interrogation. This is a weapon. He’d been trained to use it to defend himself, but he also knew that it was a blade packed with enough pure energy to slice off someone’s head or cut clean through armor.
He’d never killed anyone.
What was a lightsaber for, then, if you couldn’t face the fact that it killed people? He tried to think of Jacen as using a weapon—his Force powers—to defend the Galactic Alliance against people like Ailyn Habuur, but all he could feel was that Jacen, a man he respected more than his own father, was hurting a woman who couldn’t defend herself.
He heard things he knew no kid should have heard. But still he couldn’t walk away. He sat there for an hour, then two, staring at his hands, hearing the raised voices, then the thuds and occasional cries of pain, and then only Jacen’s voice repeating the same question over and over again: Who sent you, and who were you sent to kill?
Ben couldn’t bear it. Jacen, you have to stop.

Boba Fett: Agent of Doom is one story that, in my person reading of canon, unequivocally features Ailyn Vel in the armor. The timing works out, sure, but it’s really the content that sells it for me. Not just in the way that old Brighteyes convinces Fett to take the job...
Tumblr media
[img desc: a comic page with Boba Fett and Slique Brighteyes negotiating a job]
Fett: Tork obeyed orders. Murthé obeyed Tork. No wrong. Brighteyes: Tork went back to the Azgoghk, yes he did. With the doctor, with crew of slavers, with former ship’s crew. Repaired the Azgoghk, righted it, and begins his work again. Emperor is dead. This is so. Empire is gone--this is so. He steals species and kills them. What right has he now to do this, bounty hunter? What right? Fett: The price? Brighteyes: All that my people possess. One hundred credits. Fett: Fett: You know who you mock?
Tumblr media
[img desc: a comic page with Boba Fett and Slique Brighteyes negotiating a job]
Brighteyes: Know that you were Boba Fett. Once, that was a name to conjure fear, yes it was. That was before the Jedi fed you to the sarlacc. That was before Han Solo escapes you so many times. Some now ask--is it the same man beneath the helmet? Brighteyes: Many species put out contract on Tork and Murthé. No one will touch it. Impossible, they say. But Fett could do it. Yes, he could. If you do this, it will not be because of the money. It will be so that all know who is Boba Fett. Yes. Fett: Fett: Yes. Brighteyes: We will provide the location of the ship. We will provide specifications gleaned from old Imperial files. Yes we will. You will provide us with the heads of Murthé and Tork--if you are Boba Fett.
...but even more than that, it’s the way Fett reacts in the end after the job is done. When he brings the heads of the Imperial butchers to the dying man who hired him and Brighteyes says he doesn’t need the proof, because he is Boba Fett.
Tell me this isn’t a perfect story to have it be Ailyn in the armor, right?
Tumblr media
[img desc: a comic page of Boba Fett returning to Slique Brighteyes after the job]
Fett: Brighteyes. Tork and Murthé are dead. Brighteyes: If you...are here...they must be. Money...is on...table. Fett: Here’s proof. Brighteyes: No need. You say...they are dead. Then they...are dead. Brighteyes: After all...you are...Boba Fett...yes, you are. Fett: Fett: Yes.

"You Lied To Me"
[read on ao3][masterlist]Febuwhump prompt: "You Lied To Me."
Coronet City detectives Avana and Freerly respond to a crime scene where a gonk blew some poor Kiffar's head off. Once they get a hold of the datachip, they find out why.
Tumblr media
Characters: Ailyn Vel, Sintas Vel, Mirta Gev, Boba Fett, Original Characters Wordcount: 1284
Tumblr media
"So bomb squad's cleared it?" Avana slammed the speeder door, took one last drag off her t'bac stick, and tossed it. "Last thing I want is to get blown up by some leftover banthashit that nobody noticed."
"They been over the place with a fine-tooth comb." Freerly, her Rodian partner, poked her shoulder with a suctioncup-tipped finger as they walked to the crime scene. She brushed it away irritably with her lek, scowling. He was doing it to annoy her, he damn well knew she hated the marks it left behind. He snickered and shoved his hands in his pockets. "Don't worry, kid, your purple ass is safe."
"Yeah, yeah." Avana flashed her badge to the droid at the door and carefully stepped over the rubble. The apartment building was nice for the area. The damage was thankfully localized to their vic's apartment. Besides a few cracks in the wall she shared with her neighbor, the damage beyond was minimal. Broken transparasteel shards crunched under Avana's feet like spring snow as she picked her way over to the body.
"Vic is Sintas Vel. Kiffar bounty hunter, came to Coronet City a few months ago. Born on Coruscant, hopped dozens of planets." Freerly shrugged. "You know the type."
"Yeah." Avana crouched and gingerly poked the ruined cavity of bone and meat that was Vel's face. "And the bomb was in a gonk?"
"Apparently. This was a straight-up assassination." Freerly moved out of the way of an evidence collection droid. "Forensics thinks they found a holotransmitter, though. They're trying to reparse the datachip right now."
"Detectives!" A Human man with tightly braided hair and large glasses waved at them.
"Speak of the Sith." Avana followed her partner to the technician's workstation.
"I've got what looks to be a holovid attached to a timer. When it ended, the gonk blew up."
Avana's lekku jabbed into her spine. "Were you able to get the message?"
"Sure was. Here we go." The woman in the hologram was young and pretty, pale with a purple tattoo like a block made of three, thick lines that covered almost half of her face; it was a qukuff, Avana realized a moment later, a Kiffar clan marking. The girl was at least part Kiffar, she could see it from the way that she hunched in her chair, tall as a karking gundark. She had a toddler in her lap with thick line markings similar to hers painted on her cheek. "Hi, Mom," she said to the cam.
Avana and Freerly exchanged grimaces.
"It's been a rough few years for us, I know. Between the jobs and, and what happened with Makin…" the woman glanced in the direction of her child. "I thought I could find closure if I found him. If I found my father. And if I killed him for what you said he did to us."
"Oh, shit," Freerly mumbled.
"You told me he was horrible. He was a cold-blooded murderer, a, a serial killer. You said that he terrified you, made you believe that he'd kill you if he left. You were his victim, and you were afraid he was going to murder me too." The woman shushed the irritated toddler wiggling in her lap. "Mama's almost done, Mirta. Just wait." She turned back to the cam. "So I decided I was going to do something about it. I'm good. I'm damn good. You raised me and trained me. And I'm not just your daughter, I'm Boba Fett's daughter. I can get him. That's…" She blinked again.
"She's crying," Avana said softly.
"I took a bounty out on myself on Tatooine. For return only, I'm not an idiot." She sniffed. "He picked me up within hours. Easy credits for him, right? I don't have the rep in Huttspace. So he picks me up and I don't cause a fuss, and that's when I ask him if he wants to share dinner with me before he turns me in. I had… I had a whole fucking plan. You know pepperleaf—the one from Kiffex, not Kifu, the one that's toxic to non-Kiffars—I had a whole roll of it in my bag, ground down 'till it just looked like the normal Kiffu stuff. I…"
Freerly let out a low whistle. "Uh oh."
"He bought some meat, then we went back out to the edge of town and made a camp. He didn't feel like dealing with the crowds, he said. I cooked that meat real well after I seasoned it." Her eyes unfocused. "I took the bounty out under an alias. But after we ate, he asked me my parent's names. Asked if I was really Ailyn. He knew who I was as soon as he saw the bounty. You know how he knew?" Her big brown eyes snapped back to the cam. "Because I have his eyes, Mom. I have his fucking eyes and you never bothered to tell me.
"There were a lot of things you never bothered to tell me, apparently. Like how my dad wasn't a damn psychopath like you made him out to be. That he almost always brought his bounties in alive unless it was a killjob. That the murder he allegedly committed on Concord Dawn was of the governor's son who got high on spice and raped you while he was at work." She was outright glaring at the camera now. "And you kicked him out for it. Forced him to stay away, convinced him that he was a monster that would end up getting me killed. So he did stay away. He stayed away my entire life because that was what you wanted, Mom. You know what else he did?"
The three investigators leaned forward.
"He made me a savings account. Completely legit, made deposits every single single month for seventeen years. I had no idea." Ailyn's pupils dilated. "You did. He told you about it and gave you all the information. Said it was for when I reached the age of responsibility. Almost a million credits in that account, Mom, not to mention what was in the safety deposit box. Remember about five years ago when you won the lottery?"
"Oh, shit," Avana said again, covering her mouth.
"I didn't bring an antidote. I didn't need one. I'm immune." Ailyn shuddered with the effort of holding back her tears, visibly haunted. "You lied to me. I killed my father for you, and come to find out all he ever did was love me and support me from afar. And then on top of that, you stole my motherfucking money." Ailyn wiped away the tears that had escaped furiously, then fixed the cam with a death glare. "Well unfortunately for you, Mom, I remember everything you taught me, and one of the first things was that you never fuck with a hunter's money, and here you are fucking with mine. And the second thing was to make sure that whoever fucks with your money goes out with a bang so that nobody else gets the bright idea." Ailyn raised the little girl up and shook her hand at the cam. "Bye bye, Mirta, say bye bye!"
"Bye bye gamma!" Mirta sang, waving happily.
Ailyn lowered her back to her lap. "Say hi to Dad for me," she said—her smile was wide, unnerving, and didn't go anywhere near her eyes.
The holorecording ended. The three stood still, silent, completely shocked for at least a minute. Avana glanced over her shoulder to the corpse being loaded onto a stretcher.
"That is one fucked up family," Freerly finally said.
Avana reversed the holorecording and paused on the little girl's face. She had her mother's eyes.
