Poetry isn't real and ripped scriptures mean nothing. Fuck you
#Not gonna put this one in the main tags#Artisitic Vision/Intent/Interpretation whatever do your thing tumblr this will probably go further than it's meant to#something something death of the author okay I'm gonna give you the answer now#I say the answer and not *an* answer because poetry isn't real and words have to have meaning or they don't#anyways I want to write poetry or do spoken word or something about my religious trauma because I express myself thru art#I like seeing colors and words and going 'that's me. I'm that.' even abstractly because I'm abstract#even as you're reading this you're abstractly assigning me a voice and image even if it's just your own or the default one you use#I think okay I'm going to do black out poetry but I think about it too much. I think too much about making it pretty and meaningful#it's not me making art about my religious trauma anymore. it's about me making art about my trauma instead#I rip the bible to shreds and look at it and it mocks me. This is a form of art. But it means nothing to anyone but me. It's my anger#so I go back to making pretty poems about ripping up the bible and it doesn't mean anything I'm writing about making art again#so I make my art in the midst of my anger and all it says is 'Fuck you'#So now I have a pile of bible pieces and 'Fuck you' and I'm less angry but now I have nothing to show#ripped bible pieces and 'fuck you' look just like every other pile of words from any other book. You could make a new book with the words#I pick up a few pieces and make something new and that's a metaphor for something probably but what makes that so?#I am angry and I decide what's art and what's poetry and I put it out there for you to see and feel something and I've been taught for so#so so long that my purpose is to please others and be perfect that I forget I also have to feel something when I make art#my religious upbringing still affects me in ways I didn't even realize and this will probably get reblogged like tumblr poetry but for me?#for me it's saying you can just be now. not a future bride. not a preacher. not a mother. nothing. You can be nothing. That's fine#You weren't put on this planet to perform#You aren't being watched and judged by an all seeing force.#Be nothing sometimes. Fuck you

Tumblr media
[LONG EDITION] - taken from my phone's notes (also, i was too lazy to edit it so here's a nice chunk of info)
🍂 Sun conjunct Saturn individuals inherit mindsets from the father, grandparents or great-grandparents. They might never fully act like their Sun sign (aka "shine"), since they've been conditioned from a young age to listen to parents, teachers, and later on bosses. They are the type to never divorce, no matter how toxic their marriage is. If these peeps deal well with their Saturn Return, they might become "THE BOSS" (aka the person everyone looks up to due to how accomplished, disciplined and rich they are, they've literally got their shit together and deserve a round of applause, "it wasn't easy to get to the top, but it was worth it" - you might hear them say this). They are also more prone to ingrain stoic principles in their lifestyle
🍂 Mars square Neptune gives off major cult leader vibes. They're the type to fool you with false promises until you sign up for their "camp" but then you realize it's actually an evil cult where all they wanna do is put you to work (and maybe later even kill you lol). These individuals become very scary when angry (you don't wanna see them angry, trust me). If they ever commit suicide, it'll be by drowning, alcohol or drugs
🍂 Mars trine Neptune is one of the best aspects for those who make a living off their talents. The talent depends on the element the trine is in:
If it's in Earth signs - ideal for those who work in the "money handling sector" in advertising, becoming an entrepeneur, holistic care (if Virgo is involved), cooks, those who work in interior design, seamstresses, embroidery/lace makers, models, event planners If it's in Air signs - ideal for those who work in sales (their negotiation skills are ✨chef's kiss👌🏻✨), becoming a spiritual/religious teacher or an art/music/any other creative pursuit teacher (lmao, i can't even speak💀💀), writers, musicians, magicians and astrologers (for the last two - if Aquarius is involved) If it's in Fire signs - ideal for dancers, theater/movie actors, hairstylists, circus performers, photographers (only if Leo is involved) If it's in Water signs - ideal for make-up artists, painters, tarot readers
🍂 Moon sextile Uranus individuals have got the ability to create a positive parasocial relationship with their followers. Since these people often use their devices to validate their emotions, i wouldn't be surprised if most of y'all also have atleast one active profile where you post quite frequently
PRO TIP: Whenever Transit Jupiter is trining/conjuncting your Natal Uranus (to a less extent also the sextile), you'll get a sudden boost in your followers count
🍂 This is a theory of mine that i've come up with and i'd love to hear your thoughts on it. When it comes to intergenerational astrology, i do believe that we inherit all of our personal planets placements from our parents and ancestors. But then you might say "But i don't act like my mother at all! This is bullshit!". I'm not saying we're all carbon copies of our family members. What makes us unique and distinguishes us from our parents and grandparents (or even great-grandparents) are the way the planets aspect each other in our birth charts and the planetary configurations between them. Basically we start from the same ground, but we all use our traits differently, whether for the better or the worst expression of them. Let's not forget that we also tend to go through different life experiences than our parents and grandparents; we might be blessed with different opportunities that might enhance our best traits and help us achieve what our ancestors always wanted to but weren't able to
Hope you enjoyed today's post, loves!💗💗💗 I've been wanting to post for a while now but my inspiration has been wandering alone in the Sahara Desert I can't promise that i'll start posting again more frequently (the new uni year is starting soon for me + i enrolled in a local astrology school 2 weeks ago🥳🥳 ya girl can't wait to officially become an astrologer) but my inbox will be open again for further questions! I must also thank you for helping me hit 500 followers!!! I'm probably gonna do another ask game once i hit 600 followers, as i'm too busy right now. As always, don't forget to drink water and take care of yourselves! Hope to see you soon! ˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚

Heya! Hope you're doing well <3
So I have a world building question that I've been curious about for a while now, and I hope you're interested in answering; what would Cybertronian literature be like? Would they have fictional stories, or would it mostly be history texts and such?
If they did have fictional stories, I doubt they would have many, if any, romance books since they're obviously not a romantic species like humans. Would superhero stories with outliers be a thing? (Can't remember if outliers are viewed as bad or not). Would fantasy stories with like, Predacons be popular or would they be frowned upon with some mechs because of their history with them? (Looking at you, Kup and Autoway)
Hm, I wonder if stories with organic aliens would be a hit or not...
Considering how well Cybertron was doing before the war, I'd imagine their fiction stories weren't at the level and/or had the amount that are on Earth. Or would it have nothing to do with the state of Cybertron and more with that it was scoffed at?
My brain is just going wild with all the ways that this could turn out, but what I really, really want to know if they have fanfiction. Wait, would Orion write fanfiction??!! Dammit, Orion fangirling over a character has taken root in my brain
That wraps that whirlwind of an ask. Don't forget to not overwork yourself and stay hydrated! ❤️
Lore time?!?! Fantastic. So sorry its been *counts fingers* three to four months??? The writing vibe has been very picky as of late. Doing my best over here to answer asks from months back o( ̄┰ ̄*)ゞ
━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙ ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⊙ ❖ ⊙
Literature on Cybertron is a curious thing. Culture varies wildly from city to city, but due to governmental influence everywhere, a large portion of the consumable literature on the datanet follows a certain structure. Information is highly controlled, and thus, only literature that supports or otherwise agrees with the government is allowed to exist on any public platform. Things that do not conform with the regulations put down are deleted immediately. Thus the literature that is deemed "safe" is often bland, preachy, or straight up propaganda. While Cybertron's population may have tolerated the Council due to a lack of fighting capability at the time, they also weren't fools. Not a spark enjoyed the aft kissing works produced by those who couldn't be bothered to be original.
Thus the underbelly of literature came into being, a hidden series of trade networks and secret websites created to keep the quality writing safe from the Council. Most of the hidden works consisted of data from all over the planet, the things that the Council kept hidden. Police reports, body cam videos, documents, records, trade reports, incident reports, historical documents struck from the records, information on mecha who "vanished", and so much more. Everything one could ever want information was was down there in the dark parts of the datanet. Such things always came with a price attached.
If one wanted data, it needed to be paid for. Shanix was too easy to track, and so instead information was traded. Data for data, knowledge for knowledge. It was in the darker parts of the datanet that the Archives collected much of their... more confidential information. Alpha Trion never tolerated the loss of critical information and there were whole groups under his control dedicated to collecting what he wanted from those who possessed the knowledge. There were entire wars online when it came to data, some that even resulted in doxing and death. The world was dangerous, and with the Council hunting for any and all information, literature was a prized resource reserved for those with the ability to trade for it. Orion and Soundwave both were very well oriented with the trading performed on the datanet. They were well known under their online tags and both maintained very active information broking circles up until the war began. Even then, both managed to keep weaseling data out of their sources up until Cybertron went dark.
Then of course there was the less professional corners of the darker parts of the datanet. Works of fiction were by no means unusual, but they were only produced by mecha with certain... tastes. Most were not lacking in imagination, but rather the ability to make their visions legible. The ability to properly produce a work of fiction was, more often than not, difficult for the average mech to do. Most works of fiction came from the middle castes or the upper lower castes. Higher caste bots were not allowed to write anything serious for fear of backlash, and the lower castes simply did not have the time more often than not. As such, only the highly biased middle castes had any ability to produce fiction at all.
Sci-fi did not exist as a genre, for quite obvious reasons. More often than not, what fiction came into being tended to fall into several categories which matched the desires of the middle castes. Courtly drama was a world renown and beloved genre. Every mech ran into a work in the genre at least once, and the themes usually revolved around the main character either climbing the social ladder to get into the higher castes or somehow evading their hold to achieve something. It was wish fulfillment at its finest, but the middle castes adored the genre as it satisfied the desires they had. Ratchet wrote one surprisingly well performing novel about climbing the ladder to become CMO. It was based off his own experiences, and while not exactly popular, medics everywhere all universally knew of his novel, although not a spark knew he wrote it.
The second biggest genre was rather specific, and it happened to be the caste change genre. Every bot wished they were something else for the most part. As such, there was a plethora of documents that focused around a mech from one caste either moving up or down the chain and having to adapt to the new way of life. The cultural differences around Cybertron played their part in the caste change genre as mecha from all over the planet learned from and wrote their novels. Many serious misconceptions came from the novels of that type, but it tended to create a sense of tolerance amongst the population more often than not. Even still, there were more than a few crimes committed due to rather ridiculous misunderstandings regarding local culture from individuals who only learned from novels. While not common knowledge, Starscream wrote an incredibly well received novel with completely made up cultural norms for Vos that were so widely accepted that grounders everywhere got arrested en mass until the government stepped in. Starscream has yet to stop finding it amusing.
The third most popular genre was the only one the lower castes could feasibly relate to, and it happened to be about police and murder mystery. The stories had no set formula, unlike the prior two popular genres. However they almost always involved the main character eliminating some scum of the Earth, uncovering a deep dark secret, or putting an end to a horrific criminal underworld. It was pure wish fulfillment from middle caste mecha who knew just enough to want to change things, but didn't have the guts to actually go out and take a stand. Jazz wrote his fair share of novels relating to the subject, one of which became so popular that he ended up changing his identity twice and faked his death once in order to escape any connection to it. He didn't learn until vorns later that his novel, which was based on a real mystery, had actually solved a well covered Council kept secret.
Lastly there was the religiously oriented works of fiction. The genre itself was incredibly niche due to the differing beliefs and delicate nature of faith on Cybertron. But the few who wrote for the subject were masters of their craft. Usually they were artist renditions of old tales, retellings of myth and legend, or even fictional takes on the lives of old Primes. Highly heretical in nature, very few stepped into the genre of Primacy related anything. The Council was always on the lookout for such novels, and thus those who wrote them were far more likely to vanish under mysterious circumstances. What novels were written often didn't last long. The only three novels that made it out alive amidst the harsh censoring happened to be a set of novels written by Orion Pax in collaboration with Senator Shockwave and a novel done by none other than D-16 himself. The three novels all showed urban legends and tales from all three castes and were beloved globally, even if every physical copy was destroyed on sight.
Orion, and later Optimus Prime largely forgot about his written work. Unbeknownst to him, Megatron has kept a copy of his work and the two other novels. He has no clue Optimus and Shockwave wrote them, but he adores them and have lovingly gone into English teacher mode more times than one could count to find the deeper meaning behind everything. Humanity's love for 1984, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Dante's Inferno is the level of adoration Megatron holds for the three novels on his shelf.
There were other stories of course. Fantasy novels set far into Cybertron's distant past made purely off imagination and globally mocked by those who lived long enough to see the early days of Cybertron. A genre akin to Romance that focused on companionship and starcrossed designs put in place by Primus. Strange tales made by those on Colony worlds going into depth on organics and their cultures. Heroic stories focusing around Primus's chosen and champions of the people. Underdog tales with Outliers coming out of hiding or breaking their bonds to be free and express themselves as they saw fit...
The stories were diverse, but all were hidden. Every mech read them, but none spoke of them aloud. Literature was the quiet universal culture of Cybertron prior to the war.

Dating the main Baki cast HCs
Continuing on with these because... idk, I can't find many that I really like.
Baki:
You two would probably get together sometime after Kozue has had enough with his constant putting his life on the line and in danger.
He's not a good boyfriend, but he's not a bad one either. He's really only had experience with Kozue, and even then, they weren't really together for a really long time.
He's either very present or very absent, there is no in-between. Be prepared to be put on a back burner if he wants to train to defeat a strong opponent or just because he yes he absolutely needed to spend an entire month training up in the middle of nowhere.
He does try and be present for you though, he likes to show his partner that he cares and appreciates them. A lot of making food and cuddling whenever he's not obsessively training or getting ready for a fight.
Introduce this man to ASMR and he will absolutely melt tbh, he's already super chill, ASMR would just amplify that level of chill. Once you introduce the concept of a self-care night, he'll be fully on-board.
"Hey baby, are you ready for our quiet night in? The blankets are fresh out of the dryer, they'll be nice and warm."
Kozue:
You two would probably get together a while after she dumps Baki because that boy gives her too much stress to date, but she can indeed keep him as a friend. Let me tell you that the relief of having someone less likely to get themselves killed by being an idiot from planet strong does wonders for this girl.
A lot of average and basic dates, but that's okay, she doesn't need anything fancy as long as you have a good time. It's about the quality with her, and some good quality time is all she needs.
Self care is really important to her, considering she spends a lot of time studying and doing extra-curricular activities (as well as worrying about Baki's dumbass), so playing with her hair during down time or even a little shoulder massage while she's studying goes a long way with her.
High-key needs someone who can reassure her that she's doing the right thing or validate her worries and not make her feel like she's crazy or over reacting about something that stresses her out.
Pamper the hell out of her, this girl deserves it. Get her some cozy pajamas and a nice fluffy blanket, drag her into bed and watch a movie or her favourite idols performing live before bed, help this girlie pop relax after a stressful week.
"Yeah, maybe I shouldn't have crammed that project, I mean, it's not due for another while. Thanks for the help!"
Hanayama:
He met you at a bar, and the man absolutely did not waste any time expressing that he was interested. Unfortunately for him, he's basically physically unable of being suave or subtle, so he absolutely fumbled the bag in the beginning.
Don't expect him to have any idea what he's doing in the beginning, he'll be awkward and confused about what he's doing with you, a lot of just straight up staring at you and than saying something that is (probably) really weird or rude. It takes a while for things to click with him, but once they do and he figures out what sort of things you like, he's actually a pretty good partner.
He's actually really sweet once he figures out what you like. Do you like quality time? Yeah, he can do quality time once in a while, just don't expect him to appreciate it if you ask him to snuggle while he's in front of his underlings. He has a reputation to uphold you know.
He absolutely loves showing off how strong he is for you. Need that jar opened? No problem, he's got it. Just make sure you have a spare container handy for whatever is inside. You want him to help you reach something? Yeah, he can do that, up you go. Anyone bugging you? Not anymore. As a matter of fact, they're never seen again, and if they are, it's definitely in worse shape then they were last.
He's theoretically a great listener, but whether or not he's actually listening to you is a 50/50, because he might just be lost in his own head. He doesn't talk a lot, but when he does speak his mind, you should probably listen, because he doesn't really confide in a lot of people.
He'll absolutely spoil you to show off, but then sometimes he'll get you small, really thoughtful gifts that he knows you'll like. Did your favourite necklace go missing? Don't worry, he's gotten it cleaned, fixed and polished, he's got it in his back pocket in a box so he can give it to you later.
"Hey, I've got somethin' for ya. Turn around and close your eyes, trust me, you'll like this one."
Katsumi:
Honestly, you either met him while just out and about and saw him with the Shinshinkai karate boys, or you met him while you were just out and about. Either way, it's one of those situations where you wind up having no clue how you bagged this one.
He's absolutely the kind of guy to be able to charm your socks (and pants) off but he does it with pure intentions. He just wants to make sure that you know he has eyes only for you.
He absolutely uses his parent's relationship to judge if he's doing things right. Do you look at him the same way his mom looks at his dad? No? Well, looks like he needs to work harder then, because that's absolutely how he wants his pookie to look at him.
You know those giant plush teddy bears? Yeah, so does he. He would absolutely get you one. He would also crawl inside said teddy bear and surprise you, especially if you've had a rough day. So if he asks you to go grab something from the store, then be very suspicious.
Absolutely the kind of guy to cuddle you while you both sleep. He'll wake up a few minutes early just so he can spend some time cuddling you before he gets up to work out. Lots of sleepy kisses and little mumbled I love you's while he rubs your back or plays with your hair.
"Hey precious, good morning. Did you sleep okay? The sun's not up yet, we can stay in bed a little bit longer."
Jack:
Honestly, you likely met him while he was out and about, likely at a restaurant or while he was at the gym, and he probably ignored you the entire time, the man is incredibly used to having to ignore people staring at him, but he's not very used to those stares being literal heart eyes.
He's oddly enough a more competent partner than Baki, but not by a lot. He'll give you attention, sure, but you aren't really a priority in his eyes, just a nice bonus that makes life more enjoyable for him. He'll at least pause his training and workouts to give you a small kiss on the forehead or to look at you while you're talking to him.
Definitely not perfect, he's a stubborn man, and while he'll usually give in to some requests of yours. He's not going to ease up on his training, and he's not going to stop taking steroids, but he will at least refrain from taking them in front of you, and he'll at least bring water with him while he trains.
Katsumi has lazy mornings, but Jack has lazy nights. After his night-time run, supper and a shower, he's perfectly happy to curl up and laze around with you until one or both of you falls asleep.
His voice gets really rumbly when he's tired or right after he's woken up, so talking to him when he's right on the cusp of sleep winds up in him mumbling back to you, not even bothering to open his eyes unless it's just stupid enough.
He's more used to violence, so gentle touches absolutely make him shiver. If you gently scratch the back of his man's neck right at the base of his skull you can knock him out in under five minutes. He can't even complain, it probably helps with his back pain, and he's not above returning the favour.
This man radiates heat too, so a movie night in bed while it's chilly out is just pure bliss with him, because he'd absolutely start tracing little shapes on your back and thighs.
"Hey darlin', c'mere, you're gonna get cold all the way over there. The bed's warm and it's gettin' kinda late."
Kosho:
You probably saw him doing something dumb and dangerous (cough cough standing in front of a charging bull cough cough) and he somehow managed to not die??? And you also managed to not die??? Impressive.
He's not a distant partner, but he's not very close either. He doesn't want you to be seen as a potential weakness for him, but he also wants to brag about you because you're just so gorgeous and precious, and he's absolutely head over heels.
If you like taking care of your hands, that's something he'll have in common with you. His hands and feet are some of his greatest weapons, his fingers and nails especially. Give him a manicure and he will both kill and die for you.
Treating his greatest weapons with such care and gentleness is a surefire way to show that you care about him and his training. Show this man some love, he deserves it.
Playfully bullying each-other is a very large aspect of the relationship most likely, he is a younger sibling, he's gotta get that younger sibling energy out somehow, but he won't cross the line, he's not trying to be mean.
"Yeah yeah, and you're the president of the United States. Should I follow you around everywhere you go like a lovesick puppy to make sure you don't get kidnapped?"
Kureha:
You most likely met him at work, in school, or at the gym. And like most other people, you probably thought that he was really charming and well-spoken. Until you got to know him a little bit better and realized that he's just a straight up bitch.
Unlike Kosho, who playfully teases you, Kureha will sometimes actively be mean to you. If you can roll with the punches though, you'll be surprised to find that he'll start showing you that he doesn't actually mean anything by his snarky comments.
No, he will not let you play with his hair, absolutely not, that is his and his alone. You can look at it though. And don't use his shampoo either. Sure it smells good, of course it does. It's his.
I hope you don't mind messes either, because this man is either one of the neatest people alive, or one of the messiest. I'm talking just walking away from whatever he's doing for hours on end because he got called away to do something, or got the sudden urge to go workout again.
He's also a wild sleeper, so for the first little bit you'll get some good sleep, but once he gets into a deeper sleep you're probably going to get kicked or rolled around.
If you somehow manage to sleep through that, then his fifteen billion alarms are probably going to wake you up. You will not be in a normal sleeping position, because he'll have moved you around in his sleep.
He doesn't really cuddle, but he will let you curl up to him. He likes feeling how much more delicate you are than he is. He's also the kind of guy to just grab your hand and look at it for a little while, doing all sorts of random stuff like posing your fingers or bending your wrist.
"You do know that you've got some of the worst circulation that I've ever seen, right? Your fingers are always so cold, go stick them under some hot water before you give me hypothermia."
Retsu:
It's a case of right place right time with this one, because as far as you were concerned, you were just going to go get some groceries, and now there is a wall of man asking you if you know where they moved the seasoning to.
Very much an old man when it comes to love. He'll take you out on several dates before he actually asks you to be his partner. Not like, six or seven dates, nono, enough dates to just assume that you were already official.
Even when you are dating, this man is going to be working hard to properly court you. Do you want a quiet night in? He'll clean the place up, cook some dinner and set up some nice music so you can have a relaxing atmosphere.
He's also the kind of person to just spontaneously go on a walk. Sitting inside all day when there's good weather is such a waste of a good day, why not go walk through the park to go see the ducks or watch other people having a good time?
A few months into actually dating, he'll just sorta start reading you poetry. Really beautiful poetry too. The man has such a relaxing voice that he could probably soothe you to sleep. Ask him to read you a story during a rainy day and you'll be snoring before he finishes the first chapter.
"Did you want some more tea before I begin? How about a blanket? Alright, let's see what we have here."
Doppo:
Honestly, the only way I can see Doppo getting into a relationship with someone is if Natsue passes away, and even then, he probably wouldn't, but HYPOTHETICALLY, if he did, it would be with someone closer to his own age, he wouldn't want to feel like a cradle-snatcher.
We all know how devoted he is to Natsue, if he falls for you he'll fall HARD, anything you want, you can get it, just say the words. Hell, you don't even have to say the words, if he catches you looking at something for a while with that look of want in your eyes, expect it to be placed into your hands on your next date night.
Speaking of date nights, those happen frequently. He wants to make sure you know just how loved and valued you are, so he's taking you out every weekend for a nice quiet dinner somewhere cozy and pretty.
Expect for him to teach you a thing or two about self-defense. He may be your Superman, but he's not always right by your side, and he wants to know that you're safe.
Katsumi is pretty chill, so he wouldn't exactly mind another parental figure in his life either. Which is good, because Doppo does care about his son, and if Katsumi is against you being with him, he'll be stuck between a rock and a hard place.
He holds your hands a lot. When you're walking, sitting together, laying down to go to sleep, he just likes holding your hands and calling you pretty.
He's a suave mf, he knows how to compliment someone to get their heart fluttering. He'll look you dead in the eyes and give you the most thoughtful, love-filled compliment anyone has ever given you, and he won't stop until you make him shut up.
"Honey, you are the most stunning person I know. I'm lucky that you chose me, because your love is like standing in sunshine, like walking on a cloud."
Shibukawa:
I just can't see him getting involved with someone much younger than him honestly. Just imagining him with a sweet older partner that he can just sit and exist with and talk about life is just such pleasant imagery for me.
Someone who understands all his old aches and pains, and is there to support him through it. He's not decrepit, mind you, he's still pretty spry for a man in his mid seventies, so if anything, he's the one taking care of you.
He loves his early mornings, drinking tea and watching the sun rise, listening to the birds and the sounds of nature before the city comes to life, probably sitting out on a patio, just the two of you.
A lot of mischief. He's a mischievous old man, and you'd probably have to reign him in, he's not as spry as the youngsters he pranks after all, and sometimes someone needs to remind him to slow down a little sometimes.
He probably has a collection of all of his glass eyes, divided between old broken ones and new unused ones, all the way from his first one to the newest ones that he's had made. It pays to have spares.
You know the old people who pop out their dentures to scare kids? Yeah he does that with his eye, and you'd be left either trying to comfort this poor traumatized child or scold him so the parents don't get too upset. You can laugh about it later, don't worry, he certainly will be.
"Oh nonsense! That little brat needed to have a good scare, did you see the way he was treating his parents? It's just a glass eye, give him a few years and that'll be one of the coolest things he's ever seen!"

I've been thinking about this since a post earlier - one of the many vague anon messages to people who reblog from me - and the response, and... man, the older I get, the more exhausted I get by the way that Tumblr deals with certain things, and the weird approach to moral purity it has.
Listen: if what you want is to reblog from someone who is "not problematic," first of all, there's no one on this entire planet who meets that standard, but definitely not me. I've never made any pretensions towards being perfect, y'all. I'm absolutely not. I am a profoundly flawed human being, just doing my best every single day. I make mistakes, and I will continue to make mistakes as long as I keep breathing, because that's... that's what being human is. The only way to be unproblematic to absolutely everyone is to do nothing at all.
There was a time when I -- like many other people -- made the mistake of trying to live up to the endlessly changing, wildly conflicting standards of morality in the third space of social media.
I'm not doing that, now. I know who I am, and I'm trying to be who I am to the best of my ability, every day. I'm not here to be unproblematic for you, or for anyone else, including myself. I'm here to talk about the things that matter to me, again, to the best of my ability, and to be the best version of myself that I can, for the people I love and the people who love me.
It's super fucking cool that a lot of people like the things that I have to say, because I really like writing about the things that matter to me, and I really like talking with y'all about those things very much, but I'm not here to owe anything to anyone on Tumblr, much less the performance of wildly varying and quickly-shifting social standards.
Last month, I passed the tenth anniversary of my spinal surgery, the day where I almost died several times in one day when my blood pressure crashed over and over. It was the kind of near-death experience that people write about or put into movies, the sort where later on you realize that the recovery room wasn't pitch-black, your eyes just weren't working at the time, and that yes, you did spend an extended period of time having a conversation with a beloved friend who died sixteen days earlier.
At the time, I just thought she'd come to sit with me in the recovery room. It all seemed perfectly logical.
The past two years have included suicidal ideation in someone close to me to the point where that person wasn't permitted to be unsupervised or have free access to car keys for their own safety.
These crucibles, and their anniversaries, really bring the crude truth of life and its priorities up to the surface. I'm happy to be here, and I'm happy to share with y'all the things that I want to share, and to write about the things that I want to write about, but please don't get confused. I'm not here to dance to someone else's song, and I'm not here to perform for anybody.
If you want to come with me for the journey I'm going on, and if you want to talk with me about the things I want to talk about, that's great. If you don't want to do that, it's okay to block me. You don't owe me anything, either. Please don't tag me in posts where people rumor-monger about me, or clutch their pearls about me, or any of it.
You can interact with me or not. I'm not changing for you, and I'm not justifying my existence to you or anyone else.
Whatever I do, here or anywhere else, I do for me and for my family. That's it.

The Mechanisms:
Out-of-universe, the Mechanisms are a folk band of musicians playing fictional onstage personas, formerly the backing band of Dr. Carmilla before splitting off to become their own thing. In-universe, the Mechanisms are a band of immortal space pirates and their sapient ship Aurora roving through the multiverse, having adventures as well as causing general carnage and mayhem, in addition to occasionally writing music about their experiences and performing before a live (though not always for long), at times captive audience.
They are,,,, so chaotic. They are composed of, in order: a cannibalistic war criminal from Space Texas, the lost princess Anastasia Romanova from Cyborg Space Russia, her sapient starship girlfriend who used to be a moon for an alternate version of Earth before being kidnapped by Cyborg Space Russia, an arsonist gangster who burned down their entire planet, an archivist who is nice enough up until you damage her books (in which case RUN), a doctor who was repeatedly and separately convicted for heresy and witchcraft and currently pilots the ship, a wooden soldier that is Not Real, But Very Good At Pretending To Be, a war criminal from another version of Earth who blew up the moon, an amnesiac mecha pilot who is the ship's doctor and self-appointed psychiatrist despite NOT being qualified for either, and a severely unethical scientist who is perfectly willing to cause catastrophic international disasters if it gets her interesting results for her "experiments". Oh, and also a space ninja who visits sometimes. Not sure what her deal is.
What's more, they're chaotic evil. Because when you're immortal for long enough, you morals end up skewing so far outside of the box they're hardly even in the same galaxy anymore, because things get stale pretty quickly if you keep doing the same thing over and over again for tens of thousands of years and besides, tens of thousands of years is a long time to go through without experiencing some of the more exciting avenues life has to offer. Doesn't really help that a bunch of them weren't the best of people before becoming immortal either. As a result, what most people would call a string of horrific atrocities/mass destruction, the Mechanisms call a particularly interesting Tuesday. Among their canonical crimes include: destroying a sun, orchestrating the collapse of several civilizations, very armed robbery, brainwave piracy, terrorism, neuro-arson, unlicensed foul language, criminal enterprising, grand theft mecha, starting various cults, whatever 'aethercide' and 'grand theft aether' mean, as well as literally every single crime imaginable except for the sexual ones (specific to Jonny, who is implied to be aspec. he really might as well have been doing a completionist speedrun of that specific planet's constitution at the time). Also, none of them are cishet.
The thing is though, the thing is-- all of them are so unfathomably old. It's been thousands of years and they can't die, not even when they put a bullet between each others' eyes every so often to get some peace and bloody quiet. And ultimately they cannot die, not until the narrative has deemed their roles finished, because above all the Mechanisms act as witnesses to the universe and all the stories therein; sometimes watching passively, sometimes taking a decidedly active role, sometimes something in between. And ultimately, there is no one else in the multiverse who can understand them as much as each other -- how it feels to die and come back immortal, how it feels to be trapped by the whims of a primal force of nature, how it feels to grieve every time they're forced to send the mortals they've just gotten attached to off to die because it is their destiny, how the sameness and endlessness of it all wears them down and can drive them mad if they're not careful. In a world that is ever-changing and reinventing itself in impermanence, as countless stories across countless worlds spring from humble beginnings only to crash and burn in a thousand ways towards the end, they are each others' landmark, the place they return to whenever it's time to stop playing at gods or sovereigns or conquerors or prophets. They're unbelievable shitheads towards each other but they also care deeply, which is pretty remarkable considering Aurora can't go lightspeed so they have to travel through space the old-fashioned way. I mean, you try living on a ship with the same eight/nine people for centuries at a time as you travel between star systems? Insane, frankly.
Which is also why it absolutely crushes me that for all the time they've spent together, all of them inevitably end up dying alone.

They’re a bunch of besties who solve silly mysteries with their dog. Iconic

The Marvels Review (SPOILERS!!)
So I just got back from watching The Marvels. I'll be honest when I first heard about this film I was very meh about it, I knew I'd go see it because me and my mum always go see the marvel movies together, its sort of a tradition now, but I wasn't very hyped for it. I didn't really enjoy Captain Marvel, its probably my least favourite marvel film, or her character. I liked Ms Marvel when it came out but again it wasn't something I was super hyped about. So I was really really surprised that I loved The Marvels film, it really was so so good. Sadly I do feel like alot of people wrote this film off long before it came out, I kind of did too, I think the general attitude is I'll watch it but only when it comes out on Disney+, but in my opinion I really do think this film is worth the price of a cinema ticket, I thoroughly enjoyed it. So lets talk about the film, as always these are just my own thoughts and opinions and there will be spoilers so the rest is under the cut.
Carol Danvers.
So I am going to start with Carol/ Captain Marvel's character and story throughout this film. One of the biggest reasons I didn't enjoy Captain Marvel was because I felt like one she was too overpowered so it never felt like there were any stakes or risk that she might lose, so it made it kind of I don't know boring, I guess, or I wasn't as invested because it was kind of like well of course she's going to win. Also, and I don't know if this was a writing problem or an acting problem, it could even have been a me problem, but I just felt like Carol's character felt very wooden, she didn't seem to get emotional about anything, even when it seemed like it was supposed to be an emotional moment.
In this movie though Brie Larson put out such an amazing and touching performance. Like I could see her emotions and could see how much she cared about Monica and Maria, also how much she misses Maria. Another aspect I thought was really interesting was seeing her guilt at what happened to Hala, the Kree home planet, and also how she felt like she couldn't go home to Maria and Monica until she fixed it because she felt so ashamed.
The scenes between her and Monica were really great you could see how happy Carol was to hear her voice over the comms when Fury was speaking to them both and when they were reunited, also how hurt she was that Monica was clearly upset with her. It makes sense that Monica felt abandoned by Carol but I do love that they worked it out and fixed that relationship because they are family.
I also love the bond Carol forms with Kamala and I also love how at first Kamala is so starstruck but over time she begins to see Carol as a person and get to really know her as opposed to an idea of her.
Another thing I am really glad they added was that Carol's powers would be absorbed by the villain's bracelet and could then be redirected to be used against her. To me it solved that problem from the Captain Marvel movie where she was too overpowered, now there were stakes and there was risk, you weren't as sure that she was definitely going to win.
I just feel like in this movie the took a character that in all other projects seemed just this kind of 2d badass without much other substance to her and actually made her human and someone you can really relate to.
The Marvels
The team up of Carol, Monica and Kamala was a highlight in this film, the characters worked together really well and I loved seeing them working together as a team. I think Kamala learnt alot about what it is to be a hero and what it really takes from Carol and Monica which I am excited to see how the events of this movie effect her character going forward.
As mentioned above Carol and Monica's interactions were also really interesting, the added that bit of tension between them where Monica was upset that Carol never came back and that when she came back after the blip she was alone, there was no one there for her to return to. Despite that tension it was still clear how much they mean to each other and that they really are a family. It was what made Monica's sacrifice so much more gut wrenching, I teared up watching Carol so desperately trying to reach and save Monica really broke my heart.
The switching element to the storyline was also really fun, I mean it was completely chaotic, especially at the beginning of the film where no one really knew how to control it. But I also really enjoyed watching them learn to control it, seeing them practise switching places while using a skipping rope or throwing a ball was fun too. Then when they do finally learn to control it we get some pretty epic fight scenes.
I think the three characters gel together really well as a team and all play off each other in interesting ways. They are very different personalities but somehow they work really well together and we get some very epic scenes but also some really funny scenes.
Comedy
Ok one thing I really was not expecting was how funny this film was going to be. It really was like tears in your eyes hilarious at points. The singing planet was both funny and really absurd and honestly I loved it. I also found it funny that it was revealed that Carol was in a marriage of convenience with the prince of the planet. Side note I really loved her captain marvel princess dress. But the best, most funny moment has to be the flerkens. When the space station Fury is on suffers some mechanical problems they lose alot of the evacuation vessels and end up with not enough for everyone working there, a titanic without enough lifeboats type situation. That is until Goose saves the day when she becomes a momma to a whole bunch of adorable little Flerken kittens. And cue the utterly absurd but roll on the floor laughing hilarity that ensues when Nick's plan B for getting the workers off the space station is to have the Flerkens eat the workers (to be regurgitated later safe and sound) because its easier to transport a family of 'cats' than hundreds of workers. The sight of those workers running screaming as they are chased down by cute little kittens that swallow them whole whilst a calm voice announces over the intercom 'stop running and allow the flerkens to eat you, you will be fine' as classical music plays in the background, was something I never knew I needed to see but boy am I glad I did, highlight of the Marvel universe right there. But yeah there were some really amusing scenes in this film which I was pleasantly surprised by.
A Good Villain
I personally love a villain where I can understand what is motivating them and where if they weren't annihilating thousands of lives for their goal you might even route for them. It what I think made Gorr such a good villain in love and thunder, I could sympathise with the reasons behind his actions even if I didn't agree with those actions. I think the same can be said for the Villain in this film the new Kree leader Dar-Benn. Yes she is doing truly terrible things, she is ripping holes in space and destroying entire planets but her reason for doing so is one you can understand, her own home is dying because their air is no longer breathable, their water is gone and their sun is all but dead. She wants to save her home by getting the resources she needs for her planet to be healed, she's is even willing to lay down her own life to reach that goal. Her actions are villainous but her motivations are heroic, if that makes sense.
I think Zawe Ashton did a really great job with this character and was both menacing and threatening but also did a good job of showing that desperation she had to save her people and home and also the love she had for them.
End Credit Scenes
OMG THE END CREDITS SCENE!! There here guys they are here, the xmen are in the MCU!! Something you need to know about me, I love love love the Xmen. I know its an unpopular opinion but I actually always preferred the Xmen characters and films to the marvel, I loved all the movies and I also love the fox tv show based on the xmen world The Gifted, my profile picture is of a couple from that show Blink and Thunderbird. So I have been eagerly awaiting the Xmen's arrival into the MCU and they have been teasing us with it for a while, like when in Wandavision they had Evan Peters who played Quicksilver in the Xmen films show up as a 'recast' of Pietro, even though it then turned out to be nothing. They also mentioned in Ms Marvel that Kamala's genes were mutated and we hear the xmen theme play. Also this one might not be anything but two of the actors from The Gifted appeared in The Falcon and The Winter Solider. The character of Joaquin Torres is played by the same actor who plays Wes in The Gifted and the character of Lennox is played by the same actor who plays Bulk in The Gifted, variants maybe? The closest we got was Professor X in Dr Strange. But anyway I was so hyped when I saw that X symbol on the computer scene and then I heard Kelsey Grammer speak and instantly knew it was my beloved Hank McCoy aka Beast. He's one of my favourite characters in the Xmen franchise so I was super excited to see him and he looked great. I also love that right away he's like yup you must be from an alternate timeline which makes me wonder now that I think about if this is the same Beast that went through the events of Days of Future Past, it would make sense as time travelling/ alternate realities would be something he has heard about before from Logan.
Another thing that is interesting and also kind of heartbreaking in that scene is that at first it looks like Maria is there and alive, but when Monica calls her Mum she has no idea who Monica is. I am interested to see where this post credit scene is going to lead and whether Monica will ever be able to make it back from that alternate reality.
Ok so that's all the thoughts I've got on the film right now, as I said I genuinely did enjoy this movie, I think they did a really great job with it, the characters were great, the villain was good and I really enjoyed the plot as well. I would definitely recommend taking a trip to the cinema and checking it out for yourselves. I did watch it in 3D and it was a really good I don't know what they call it, conversion? Well it looks great in 3D. So until next time guys.

Chapter 25 | Prev chapter | Next chapter Chapter Index
Zo: GAIA, I had a question about the machines, pre-Derangement. Will you be able to answer?
ADMIN [GAIA]: For the most part. Details of specific machines and even migratory patterns are sparse, but I have more than enough general knowledge to answer most queries. What do you need ?
Zo: I know that the machines defended themselves when attacked, even before the Derangement. They were still dangerous, they just didn't act aggressively. And in Plainsong, the Plowhorns provide us with all the food we could possibly need.
Zo: My question is, why couldn't you give everyone plowhorns?
β: and why have the machines attack at all
β: its not like you cant make more just have them be completely passive
ADMIN [GAIA]: From the records left behind by my predecessor, I can confidently answer both questions. Initially, the machines were completely passive, with no extraneous defensive protocols. However, their rate of destruction quickly reached an unacceptable level. Several tribes even barricaded their local Cauldrons, preventing any machines from leaving and performing their duties. Adding defensive protocols was necessary to discourage wanton attacks and allow the machines to function as intended. Hunting of machines was now only done when necessary for resources, rather than as a matter of course.
HIMBO: MAKES SENSE TO ME. SOMETIMES PEOPLE WON'T STOP STEALING FROM THE FORGE UNTIL IT BURNS THEM.
ADMIN [GAIA]: As for the plowhorns, the answer is simpler. The area you name Plainsong was never intended for human habitation. It was a region for experimenting with accelerated plant growth using machines based on the Faro seed planters that had been in use in the area before Zero Day. The fact that a tribe of humans was able to peacefully coexist with the machines was a happy accident. Though I suspect that my predecessor altered the seeding orders to be more palatable to humans once she saw how they were making use of the area.
BoyNextDoor: Could you really not just tell people to stop breaking the machines? You could have delivered whatever they needed, and they could leave the machines to their work.
ADMIN [GAIA]: Unfortunately, it is not that simple. I was always designed to have minimal contact with humans, to ensure they did not develop a dependence. Ted Faro strengthened these existing protocols when he deleted APOLLO. My predecessor could not even change the programs of the interaction drones in the Cradle facilities.
FlameHairSavior: I saw that. It wasn't pretty.
DIVINER: It could have been worse, though!!
BoyNextDoor: Why were they so obsessed with "not developing a dependence?" It just seems like it would have been better to give you more control, even if it left us less independent in the short term.
β: you have no idea how many robot war stories there are out there
β: super smart robots taking over and enslaving everyone was a common theme
DIVINER: And let's not forget that they WERE fighting a robot swarm that was eating the planet! I imagine that made them a bit hesitant to put their entire future in the hands of a different robot!
MARSHAL Kotallo: I believe wanting to keep us strong should have been enough of a reason on its own.
BoyNextDoor: Wait. If your protocols are so strict, how can you talk to us now?
ADMIN [GAIA]: You are the new Alphas. The system was always intended to have human participants. That is the entire purpose of the Regional Control Centers such as this one. Almost none of my protocols on interference apply to the Alphas.
DIVINER: Almost?
ADMIN [GAIA]: There are a number of protocols preventing me from directly harming a human. These apply even more so to the Alphas.
HIMBO: WEREN'T WE JUST TALKING ABOUT KILLER MACHINES?
ADMIN [GAIA]: The machines tied to the terraforming system and set to their tasks are not a case of me causing direct harm.
HIMBO: SEEMS LIKE A FINE SLAGGING LINE.
β: thats why the old ones were paranoid about machines
DIVINER: Ooh, we should start them on Terminator!
β: if you want to explain time travel be my guest
FlameHairSavior: Do I want to know?
β: no
β: no you do not
β: if matrix was more straightforward we could start there
DIVINER: Do we have a copy in the archives? The Quen only have a restored synopsis, I was always hoping to watch it for real!!
β: only the first one
β: which is still not something they will understand
FlameHairSavior: That's the one with the running on the walls and the bullet dodging, right?
DIVINER: You've seen it??
FlameHairSavior: I had a restored trailer on my Focus.
FlameHairSavior: Which, by the way, made NO sense.
β: it wasnt supposed to make sense
FlameHairSavior: Then what's the POINT?
β: its a marketing gimmick
β: get people talking about it asking questions
DIVINER: A successful one, judging by the numbers I have for its popularity!
HIMBO: HOW DO YOU HAVE NUMBERS FOR THE SORT OF THING?
HIMBO: WAIT.
HIMBO: I JUST REALIZED I DON'T CARE.
Zo: Yes yes, go back to your meatpunching videos.
β: one day well find a good show to start you all on
BoyNextDoor: I think these romance books are good.
DIVINER: How much of those do you even understand?
BoyNextDoor: Enough. Probably.
Zo: Enough. Definitely.
β: ew
FlameHairSavior: They don't mean it like that.
DIVINER: …
HIMBO: ALOY, HAVE YOU LOOKED AT THESE BOOKS OF HIS?
FlameHairSavior: One or two. How bad is it?
HIMBO: LET'S JUST SAY THAT BETA'S GOT THE RIGHT IDEA.
FlameHairSavior: Okay, there go my plans to ever sleep at the Base ever again.
DIVINER: At least the rooms are soundproof!

Whumpcember Day Four; Hidden Injury (Mass Effect, Vega/Ryder)
@whumpcember @anderfels
Warnings: canon type violence
--
The sound of a banshee screaming in the distance made everyone in the squad pause, realizing that they weren't as alone as they thought. The planet was nearly abandoned, those who used to live on it either escaping as Reaper forces attacked or killed in the battles.
"Better hurry it up." Rose Shepard said, turning back to face the structure that they'd located the flags in. "Sounds like the party's headed our way. Vega take our six, Ryder keep those biotics ready, I'll make sure no one's waiting for us inside."
Slowly making her way inside, Rose cautiously cleared the inner vestibule- signalling that it was clear. James Vega and Anna Ryder followed and they effectively made their way room by room, making sure there wasn't a stray husk or anything else waiting for them. Signalling the all-clear once they'd make it to the last room without any surprises, Shepard lowered her rifle but didn't put it away. "Did EDI say where the flags would be?"
Anna shook her head as she clenched her hands to dispel her biotics, "No ma'am. And I didn't spot anything as we cleared the building."
"Hmm. Lets do another sweep, maybe we missed something."
"We didn't check the basement, if there is one." James suggested, knowing that an administrative building like this would defiantly have a basement that they'd store unneeded items until they had to dig them out again for whatever reason.
Anna opened her omni-tool to go over the schematics of the building that had been sent to her and rotated them until she paused. "There is a basement and a sub-basement. If I remember correctly that's where the General said they'd be."
"I knew there was a reason we brought you along Corporal." Rose smiled, even though she knew that probably neither of them could see it through their helmets. "Why don't we split up; I'll take the basement and the two of you take the sub-basement, it'll be faster that way."
"You sure Commander?" James knew that Shepard could handle herself, but at the same time they didn't know if anything was waiting for them down there. And if husks were down there...well anyone could get overrun quickly by those fast fuckers.
Rose nodded her head, "I'm sure. I'll even radio if there's trouble."
--
The sub-basement looked like someone hadn't been down there in a long time. Cobwebs and a thick layer of dust made James glad he had his hardsuit on. "At least I won't get tetanus." he thought as they stared at the rows of items.
"I take left, you take right?" Anna asked, looking over at James and smiling. They'd just started sleeping together while on shore leave and more than once she'd caught herself staring at James while he was working out or doing inventory in the cargo bay. She knew that he was her commanding officer, but at the same time she'd always done reckless things-and sleeping with a superior was only another in a long list.
"Sounds like a plan." James said, starting towards the right- but not before watching Ryder walk away. He knew they were on a mission, but at the same time he couldn't help it; the way her armor framed her body made him think about all the things they could do the next time shore leave was granted. Slightly clearing his throat to refocus, he turned to the task at hand.
Halfway down the row, James paused thinking he'd seen what they were looking for but it turned out to be some old uniforms. "How's the search going Ryder?"
"As thrilling as an elcor performing Shakespeare." Anna replied, eyes skimming over the shelves. "How about you?"
James opened his mouth to reply when their comms activated and they heard Shepard say, "Found them! And we've got company."
The unmistakable screech of husks filled their ears and they both looked at each other through the shelving.
"On our way Commander." James automatically replied, turning and running towards the stairs while pulling out his pistol. A streak of blue filled his peripheral and he realized that Anna must have charged her biotics. He's also be lying if he didn't admit that she looked even more sexy with the energy around her.
In hindsight, James realized that he'd allowed himself to become distracted and wasn't watching where he was going-but in the moment he tried to open the door from the sub-basement while simultaneously exiting, and he collided with the heavy wood. His hand moved in a direction it shouldn't have and let out a flair of pain.
"You okay?" Anna asked, genuinely concerned at James smacking into the door.
"I'm good. It just stuck." James took a step back before shouldering the door, the wood giving a shark crack as it burst open. Not pausing, James strode through and spotted where the Commander was; on the other side of the landing with a medium sized box at her feet as she defended herself from husks with her pistol and knife.
Anna smiled at the sight of the husks and powered up her biotics again to speed to where the Commander was. Not pausing as she reached the Commander, she pulled out her knife as well and went for the nearest husk. She viewed it as a dance, pause and something horrible would happen. Ducking, weaving, and using her pistol when able, she tore through the husks as fast as she could.
James concentrated on the husks that Anna and Shepard couldn't reach, using his rifle to take them down. His wrist protested at holding the weapon, but he knew that he didn't have a choice at the moment. After what seemed like no time at all, the husks had been taken care of.
"Now that's done with, lets leave before this becomes a real party." Rose said, putting her weapons away and grabbing a trunk handle. "Vega, grab the other handle."
"Yes ma'am." James hesitated slightly, because he'd have to grab the handle with his injured wrist. But they needed to get out of there as fast as they could so he'd deal with the discomfort.
Picking it up sent a slight hiss of pain through his lips, but Shepard didn't ask him if he was alright so James swallowed the protest and helped carry the trunk to the LZ and onto the Kodiak.
--
Anna hummed to herself as she finished cleaning her knife and slipped it back into the sheath. She was in a good mood and was determined to ride it out; the post-mission debrief had been short and sweet since no one had been injured and for once there hadn't been a line to the showers so she actually got hot water for once.
Placing the knife in her combat locker, Anna closed it and headed towards the main part of the cargo bay-wondering where James was and if he had anything for her to do since technically she was still on shift for the next thirty minutes. Rounding the corner she paused at hearing a hiss of pain and looked to where it'd come from.
James was sitting by one of the workbenches, but facing away and gripping his arm-his face gritted in pain.
Frowning, Anna cautiously walked up towards him and saw that his wrist was a bright red with spots lightly discolored. "You okay, Lieutenant?"
James looked up to see Anna looking slightly concerned and knew he couldn't play it off. Carrying the heavy trunk for so long had caused his wrist to flair up. Knowing that he'd catch hell from Chakwas since he didn't disclose the injury, he'd decided to just ride it out. Then Anna had spotted him and he knew that wouldn't be an option. "Not at the moment."
"Oh. Mind if I ask what happened?"
"The hand bendy part went 'ow' you know, the usual."
Anna just raised an eyebrow but didn't push the subject. "Mind if I take a look? I mean, I'm not Doctor Chakwas but I've been around my fair share of hand injuries."
"Sure." James watched silently as Anna gently took his hand and examined it, only hissing slightly when she touched the broken skin. "What's the bad news?"
"Looks like a mild sprain." She jumped up while saying, "Wait here."
James watched Anna's retreating figure and wondered what she was up to. Ten minutes later she returned, this time with an ice pack and a cloth. "Do I want to know where you got those ice packs?"
Anna just shrugged as she sat back down in front of James before folding the cloth into a square big enough to cover his wrist, setting it on his skin followed by the ice pack. "I still have my connections."
"I'll keep that in mind the next time I need something not readily available."
"Switch after five minutes and see how that feels afterwards." Anna stood, ready to leave and find some busy work until she was off shift. As she passed by James, he caught her hand and gently pulled her back towards him. "Yes?"
"Thank you." James murmured close to Anna's lips, wanting to kiss her but also not wanting to break their 'only on the Citadel' rule.
"You're welcome. And you can make it up to me next time we're on the Citadel." Anna replied just as softly, trying to ignore how her heart fast her heart was beating at how little space there was between them.
"I'll keep that in mind."

You saw how the heiress who was before you died and you didn't want to die. You dreamed of living a full life. You wanted to travel, you wanted to make Alternia better, you wanted to meet other trolls. You wanted to meet your matesprite. But for this it was necessary to leave the hive. You couldn't let anyone see you, especially you weren't supposed to be seen by Dualscar. He was a loyal servant of Condesce and if he found out that you had escaped, he would catch you and send you back to your hive. You walked barefoot through the streets, not afraid of difficulties. However, in the first city you got into trouble, though not through your fault. In this city, the rebels staged their performance in the square. You heard about them from Dualscar and according to him they were one of the main enemies of the empress, but looking at the troll who spoke, wanting to convey his thought to others, you could not see him as an enemy. But you were forced to hide when you saw the highbloods approaching, about to arrest them. That day you went unnoticed and were sure that you would not see them again. But at the market, when you were going to buy some food for yourself, you saw how goldblood troll tried to bargain and buy bread cheaper, but it didn't work out. You watched this for a few minutes, after which you approached him and the seller.
"I will pay for this bread and for a couple more loaves of bread separately"
They both looked at you in surprise. You were shorter than goldblood troll and neither he nor the merchant expected that you had money.
"1 d0n'7 kn0w wh0 y0u 4r3, 8u7 y0u d0n'7 n33d 7h15"
You smiled at him.
"I just want to help a little, you won't owe me anything"
You gave the money to the merchant and gave him a large bag of bread, taking a small one for yourself. The troll looked at you with a slight frown, and then spoke.
"7h4nk y0u"
You just smiled at him, intending to say goodbye and leave, but the screams made you freeze in fright.
"Grab them!"
You didn't have time to react as goldblood troll grabbed your hand and ran. You could barely keep up with him. You ran until you disappeared on the outskirts of the city, in a small alley. You were both trying to catch your breath. You felt like your legs were buzzing and your heart was pounding. You couldn't control your emotions and laughed. Troll looked at you and froze. It was only after a couple of seconds that you realized that the reason for this was that your hood was falling off, allowing him to see who you were. You hurried to put the hood back on, but he already managed to see what you were trying to hide.
"Wh0 4r3 y0u?.."
There was no threat in his voice, but you understood that how this troll would treat you depended on your answer.
"I am an heiress... But I don't want to hurt anyone, honestly! All I want is a peaceful and peaceful life... I ran away and I just want to get as far away as possible, to a place where they won't look for me..."
You lowered your eyes.
"50 7h3 run4w4y pr1nc355..."
He looked at you thoughtfully.
"C0m3 0n, pr1nc355, y0u h3lp3d m3 4nd 1'll h3lp y0u, 1n7r0duc3 y0u 70 50m30n3 wh0 can h3lp y0u"
"I have a name... I (Y/N)..."
"4nd 1'm M17un4, l37'5 g0 pr1nc355, w3 n33d 70 m4k3 17 83f0r3 5unr153"
He took you by the hand again, leading you further away from the city. You understood that maybe he was deceiving you, but you wanted to believe him. You wanted to believe that this meeting was not accidental.

Warning – none
The bass felt right in Kurona's hand. The atmosphere around the crowd was electrifying and rowdy. Kurona’s fellow members of the band were practically feeding from it. He could tell Isagi was getting hyped by the riffs he belted out from his guitar on his right. Yukimiya was farther away from him but the thunderous chords he strummed made him feel surrounded. Not to mention Kunigami, he was practically bashing in the drum kits. He was afraid that all the backup sticks were gonna end up broken by the next set.
Sweat was forming at his brow from the lights of blue and purple illuminated his band members. It was his turn to choose what color scheme was going to be for tonight’s show and he wanted them to be reminiscent of space, to which made Isagi and Kunigami groan slightly; Yukimiya was more supportive of his choices.
As he sang back vocals with his lip chain moving to the rhythms, fingers moving by memory to the chords of tonight's current song, ‘Planet Hotline’.
Everything was going well. Everything was doing good: so…why weren't you there?
All that filled Kurona's mind was looking for you in the crowd that filled the rented venue. Where are they?
He scanned the people most noticeable out front. Many were singing along to the song, some were dancing, a pair of two were straight up making out and one was recording the band performing with their phone, but you were nowhere.
Did you get held up at work? Did some sort of family emergency come up and you had to help?
...Did you decide the show wasn’t worth going too…?
As the song ends, Isagi announced they were going to take a small break for water and equipment check to the audience’s chattering protests. Yukimiya, on his mic, reminded the crowd it would only be 20 minutes until the next set with the kind reminder to hydrate, use the washroom, and eat a snack while they were out. Fans bursted out in shouts when Yuki’s dazzling smile was directed towards them.
His mind only could think about texting you, calling you to see if you were okay, questioning about what happened that you hadn't been to the concert he was (secretly) excited to play for with his band. To play for you.
Before entering the backroom with his group, Kurona dropped to one knee to retie a loose boot lace, his 1460 slip resistant steel toe Doc Martens. Reliable and sturdy for standing hours on a humid stage. Glancing at the little charm of the constellation of Andromeda ‘The Galactic Rose' clipped to the back of his boots why he let you put it there was still debatable, Kurona thought of the explanation of why you chose this specific charm from an Etsy store you randomly found in his librarian job.
"Did you know that when galaxies come too close together, their mutual gravitational pulls drag at their shape, pulling them out of true?"
Kurona, who was putting away returned books back to their rightful shelves, blinked a few times at the sudden explanation, "No, I did not know that." You handed him some non-fiction books from the rolling cart which he quickly grabbed from you, his callous hands brushing against your supple ones.
"Well, guess what? This is for you–wait give me a second…" You quickly grabbed your bag to pull out the so-called ‘this’, which seemed to be giving you quite the frown in concentration.
Realizing that it would take a while for you to search for whatever you had in that bag, Kurona slipped off his reading glasses to clean the lenses. I should really do that more often…
His glasses had thin, gold, metal framing with a matching golden chain of stars with a set of the sun and moon to complete the theme. Readjusting his glasses back to the bridge of his indented nose and looking back at you, all that was thrusted towards him was an acrylic keychain of a galaxy that was similar to a rose.
He admitted it was a beautiful piece of art. All of it had soft swirls of blue and pink and hints of brown in the middle, some shining stars dotted around; it really looked like a rose. "It’s pretty. Why did you get me this?"
At his words you seemed to become flustered, eyes scanning the books, occupying the shelves and your focus on him, "W-well I just–that...we’re close and all, and reading about how these two galaxies had their mutual gravity so out of place their entire being gets reformed in a way...I thought it was like you and me in a way..."
Cute. So cute. You were the cutest you've ever been to him right there in the non-fiction area.
As if you are a blackhole consuming everything in its touch, Kurona was pulled into you. His hands reach to cradle your head, his lips touching yours in an attempt to thank you in ways he could never say with words.
His starlight. His sundrop. His moonbeam. The reason the earth pulls and waves tide. Venus with her beauty and scorching heat. You blind him and burn him and all he would do is pull you closer. Hand in hand with your hair and your charm.
Kurona felt a bit warmer at the memory, finishing his lace before he could think about how you weren't at most of the concert. They really didn’t show up…
His hands opening the backstage door, two things immediately came to mind. One, the crisp air conditioning that assaulted his sweating body. Two, the body that had thrown themselves onto his sweaty one.
'I'm so so so soooo sorry I'm late!! There was an emergency at work because some lady wanted a non-caffeinated drink even though she ordered a latte which does have caffeine in it which she yelled for and a traffic jam happened while I was riding the bus the way here but I saw that I was running really late and was missing out on your concert so I told the bus driver to stop and BOOKED it on my life to the hall! So I ran all the way here, showed security my backstage you generously gave me and I've been waiting for you since! Man, you feel so sweaty, there's some towels over on the cou–mhmmp–!"
His mind made no sense anymore. His brain has been eviscerated by a flaming meteoroid, his body overeating like the molten core of the earth. The idea that you cared so much about his show you ran for him? The idea itself was like the possibility of a supernova and yet—you came, you came. You came.
You didn’t ditch him…
The kiss Kurona pulled you in for could only be described as desperate. Lips moving along one another in ways only lovers could. Eventually both of you had to pull away because of the oxygen. Your lungs missed oxygen too much, which Kurona huffed, “I’m glad you came…thought you would just go home…” At his words you cradled his face to yours, foreheads aligned and breaths shared, “What? Never! I could never miss the Kurona Ranze playing in his own concert!”
That made Kurona chuckle, “Yes my concert for me and me alone and definitely not for a band which usually consists of a guitarist, drummer, even a tambourine if the band feels so inclined”
Now pouting, you turned your body away from Kurona’s teasing smile and crinkled eyes while his arms trapped your body with his swaying lightly to an non-existent rhythm, now sitting on the tilted floor while the chatter of the crowd outside the room served as white noise.
"Woooooow just for that I’m leaving. I will start a hate account for you on twitter and spread hateful messages of how mean you are and that you bite the end of your pencils.” Now Kurona laughed at you, the vibrations sending your body a telephonic message to laugh along with him.
"Ranze, do you want to get off the floor now? As much as I love being in your lap, I don’t think it's recommended to have your ass on a stone cold floor. No, wait, this is a public floor, what if it's dirty..."
All Kurona did was squeeze you in response, burying his nose into the nape of your neck that did nothing but send trembles along your spine. 'Just wanna stay like this for a little bit longer..."
Soon after you and Kurona simply leaned against each other, like galaxies pulled to one another out of true, like the planets pulled to the sun, like stars scattered in the solar system. Kurona couldn’t have doubted this moment you would always be there, his Galactic Rose.

The history of the siblings you didn't know you had
Hello, I am Emshteko, or just Etko for short, and I want… I need to tell you a story
Long ago people emerged in this planet and they wandered over the land and the water, reaching many distant places, having adventures we will never know. You know this
But what you didn't know is that one day slavers arrived, they chased people with nets, and they captured some of them, and they took them away
You already know what happened with the people who stayed. They raised plants, they did cities, they performed writing, found science, established music and all that stuff… This is your history
But what you didn't know is what happened to those who were taken
The slavers didn't live in a world, they lived in the Fleet. The Fleet is more ancient than the slavers, the Fleet survived its makers and like the shells of those crabs it has been found and inhabited many times by many peoples. This was the turn of the slavers
When humans woke up they were already in the fleet. They weren't slaves at first, they were specimens, they were pondered by the slavers for a long time, until the slavers realized humans had mental capabilities similar to them, this is when they decided to make them property, to make humans into living tools. This lasted for a little more than two thousand years
People were forced to work without time to play nor tell stories. If a human was holding a piece of art and they spoke, the slaver would tear their teeth away saying "tables don't speak, and they don't need teeth"... I realized just now that saying this is unnecessary. I was going to give you examples of the cruelty of the slavers, but the humans that stayed also turned other humans into property, and they were cruel in similar ways. You know this, and you know why humans had to rebel
The Fleet has a heart, and it gives control in its heart to the crew of the Fleet, but the loyalty of the Fleet is high and cannot be reached, it will be loyal as long as one of the crew remains, and for that reason this was a war of total extermination. Only by killing all the slavers could the humans be in the heart of the Fleet
We don't know much about this war, but we know it was painful. The warriors fought with mangled bodies, with melting skin, with vibrations in their bones, they never stopped. Everyone fought until all the ATP in their cells was spent, they hugged their children and their minds were stopped
This is how humans became masters of the Fleet. But by then the Fleet was as broken as the bodies of the warriors, for a second they thought they had turned the Fleet into a tomb, but then the Fleet came back to life
All the ship-mites began taking the pieces of the Fleet and putting them back together, like two patches of skin separated by the edge of a knife longing to be together again, reaching towards each other. This is how the Fleet slowly healed. This period of reconstruction lasted for a thousand years
The human family also healed, having more children, children who were free. They grew up and became masters of the Fleet
We don't know where were the slavers going, maybe they didn't know either, maybe the Fleet had been going in the same direction since it was made, we will know if we ever decipher the logs of the previous crews, but now people had to decide where to go
We knew we had been taken from somewhere, and we decided we would go back to that place. That was nearly six thousand years ago. Our ancestors set the destination and they forgot about it, they knew they wouldn't live to see it
During all that time we lived in the Fleet and we too experienced history. People lived their lives, they raised their children, they found art, they touched jobs, they made ideas, they told stories… Sometimes large groups would work together in big projects, sometimes large groups disagreed and there would be conflict. Many times there was war in the Fleet, although never like before
This is to say, we walked the same path, you in the planet, we in the Fleet. It was different, of course, no one told you guys anything, you had to give shape to everything yourselves, and that's admirable. We as a difference were told many things about the inner workings, but we still had to learn to use it, and we had to give shape to those things we weren't told. We are still giving shape to many questions
But now, after this long time, we arrived at the place we were stolen from, trying to undo the damage of the slavers, but can you imagine our surprise when we saw our home wasn't empty? We saw you living around and walking your lives, and we were happy. We thought the slavers had taken everyone. We were also happy to see many other creatures in your world. The slavers told us they burned everything they couldn't take. Now we see that was a lie
This is happy, but this is awkward. We cannot simply go to the planet as we had thought. It's not like you were expecting us, you didn't know about us, that story was lost long ago
Some think maybe we should just continue, never visit the planet, but most of us think this is unacceptable. We are siblings, we cannot leave without saying hello. We also know many things you probably want to know. Also, the people from before selected this course so that we could be dressed with the sky, and the water. So that we could feel the sand, and the mud. The victory against the slavers will not be complete until we walk freely on our planet. We feel strongly about this, even if it happened long ago. This yearning has shaped us, we cannot let it not happen now that it is reachable
For that reason we have decided to wait. We have waited six thousand years, we can wait a bit more. BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND, this is a great sacrifice for us. Everyday people die in the Fleet, people who hoped to live long enough to be dressed with the sky, and we have to tell them: "No, you didn't live quite long enough for that. We are sorry"
We have sat far away, watching you, learning. We like your art, we like the stories you tell. Well done!. We can't wait until we can share with you the stories we've made, you are gonna laugh, and cry, and scream with passion at the stories of our heroes
We are your long lost siblings and we want to embrace you, we want to be joined and have a single future, but to get there we have to solve that problem: How can you say hello to someone who wasn't waiting for you?
Perhaps the simplest solution is the best one: Introduce yourself and explain your story. But of course, we can't simply appear in your sky and send you our story, that would scare you
Maybe we can share our story in some insignificant way, shared in many different places across your systems of communication, pretending that it comes from a normal person, pretending it is a fiction
If someone sees this story they could believe, or they could think it is indeed fiction, but either way, they can choose to share it with others, and maybe some of those will take that same choice… Eventually some of the people who read the story will believe it, or at least they will get used to the idea, and if enough people believe, you will not be scared when we say "hello!". You will say: "Oh, those are our long lost siblings! I read their story, I thought it was fiction, but it is reality. That's their fleet, we should welcome them!", instead
I know this is probably overly optimistic. Maybe we'll try something else, maybe we'll wait for you to find us, we are not sure
I've even asked the committee to let me go into the planet, in secret. I don't know if they will agree, but if they do you should know I have straight white hair, green eyes, and dark skin. This is actually a common combination of features among us. If you see me, and you recognize me, wink

> en existing as is was honestly one of the most fucked up things I've ever seen, exactly as you described it. The diamonds absolutely deserved punishment for that, I was REALLY surprised that after everything....they all just....got off Scott free.
Uhm When Rose did *frivolous things out of line* they slapped her in solitary confinement and she had barely any institutional authority outside her court which was the nicest to be in (millenia later even her worst victims MISS her she was that pleasant and caring to them)
Here is the thing the legend of Rose Quartz, born out of the ground morally perfect pure and unguilty of any sin, was always bullshit
Pink Diamond is the sad reality to any revolution or reform. As much dilettantes or the ambitious or the "just always going to be dissatisfied" are the members motivated as much by selfishness as to filthy virtue performing strategic nasty compromises for a victory that is NEVER perfect, whole, and cannot end with all your enemies forever vanquished with no negative side-effect or compromise.
They DID the Breaking Point strategy, even MORE perfect than Bismuth could hope to pull off. It resulted in mass corruption or shattering!
Rose's intention was first just to "inhibit the colonization" THAT WAS IT. THEN she ran into goal creep. And it was clear the Diamonds weren't going to let her fail and she did NOT want to go back
Again throwing a party with too many organics got **her** visible likable princess of the Authority solitary confinement, psychic torment by Blue, and mixed with what White did to her first pearl.
Like holy shit!
What would happen if they found out she'd publicly left an independent colony OR rebel planet complete with gem tech and heretical thinkers free to act
and when, not IF White and the gang found out she STARTED the thing performing sabotage to their own colony efforts? YIKES!!!
White was willing to bleach Yellow and Blue for just demanding to talk to them and reconsider their way of life. These were the competent ESSENTIAL true believers! Pink was traumatized and terrified and SICKENED at the idea of going back.
She wasn't a mastermind! She's what Ainz Gooal PRETENDS to be! Someone with some genius and skill caught up with no clue what she's actually supposed to do or what the right thing is off the bat (not bad for spoiled nazi princess literally defying her people to even take up arms out of sheer empathy. That's more than I done for Uyghur in China or any Ukrainian)
who doesn't want to kill her family and just wants some room to fucking breath. She renounced name, title, most of her god damn wealth to live below third world poverty swamp life. So selfish
That she had access to a spaceship and never willingly left earth staying to fix her mess and shepherd humanity to the late 20th century while carrying a heaping load of suicidal tendencies and issues and self loathing? Speaks to greater character than most of her critics.
The Gem Empire consists of as many potential crystal gems and even the Diamonds who CAN be turned around. And that was Essential to put an end to the war.
THE CRYSTAL GEMS CANNOT WIN. Loaded with all the cheats for the most minimal of goals possible, write off a lost unproductive resource extraction territory they no real plans to settle, with a bunch of deviants who don't want to do their jobs anyway, they lost at the first FAKE assassination of a high level gem!
A few hundred assassinations, IF POSSIBLE, wasn't going to change that if two lapis lazuli who wanted to kick ass dropped on Earth in retaliation let alone three goddamn diamonds.
Make no mistake Rose is a disappointment compared to her legend. But that doesn't make her a bad person.
Or well unforgivable
So are most heroes

Look all classist posturing about classical music's inherent worthiness aside and all rants about the inherent uselessness of the genre term "classical music" aside it is a fucking CRIME that fuckin Bach's 23rd Fart In H Minor and related pieces are as exalted to the exclusion of all others as they are when literally! You weren't meant to actually listen to them! They were meant to be background music! This was music on tap financed by rich patrons by composers putting as much artistic value into their pieces as fuckin factory machinery, okay, like Lord Floompensnort would say I'm having a soiree this afternoon and the composer would crank out whateverthefuck and no one in the process expected anyone to actually listen, actually pay attention, to any of it so it was written and performed to be background noise.
And that's not to say that the works didn't have social and cultural value, and it's not to say that the composers and performers couldn't negotiate artistic value within that framework, and it's not to say that the labor done by these workers wasn't valuable, but you can't take that music produced in that context and then transpose it into a concert hall and expect your nine year olds to stay awake and alert through it! They're not going to Appreciate the Culture because the Culture was never written to be Appreciated!
But there ARE genuinely interesting and exciting classical pieces you just have to fast forward a couple centuries and/or look at opera! The Romantic movement is (vaguely) when music started being shit you intended to Go Listen To! It was meant to convey the truth of the soul, and to express emotions, and to tell stories, and to in general not just be ignored in the back of the room! Thats why so much of 1850s onwards orchestral music FUCKS SEVERELY.
Planets suite? Whips ass. Rite of Spring? Fucks SO hard. Stravinsky can GET IT. Whatever the hell Berlioz was on? Fuck yeah my dude. Fingal's Cave, New World Symphony, this is the shit you go to concert halls for! This is the shit that is actually exciting! You take a group of nine year olds to see 1812 Overture with real cannons and they will lose their MINDS, NOT because the genre is inherently more worthy than others but because it is Meant to be Listened To and it is Engaging and it is a demonstration of excellence within its genre! Don't even get me STARTED on Mossourgsky god DAMN
Like we don't have to pedestalize classical music as, like, an inherently superior genre that will Enrich your child's Mind regardless of, you know. How fun it is to listen to. I love classical music dearly we just don't have to make it all about fucking Bach.
Anyways this is why Bach's Prelude cello solo is inane repetitive drivel that should never have been given pride of place in cello solos in this essay I WILL

in your opinion who are the top 5 characters who would be much better as women? ogata obviously, girlsami is wonderful but usami is already so based that i feel it’s not as much of an improvement
ok so. gk characters that could have worked as women, nay SHOULD have been women if noda weren't a coward
usami: that's like 1000/10 i am telling you if usami was a girl it would have impacted me so hard, it'd have changed me on a fundamental level like my atoms would be reorganized my dna altered i'd start glowing in the dark (radioactive). girlsami not being a thing is the only dangerous boundary between me and risking it all. maybe it's for the better after all... but in my heart i know that tokiko would have girlbossed beyond the sun
koito: honestly this is just vanity on my side, koito is a prettyboy (which is whatever who cares) and would be a prettygirl (YES. yes.) like in all of the fanart people just give regular koito a smaller frame and long hair and honestly make her the hottest woman on earth so. the shit writing wouldn't even matter in someone so smoking hot like it's part of the performance. it's camp.
ogata: as i SAID, as a dude ogata is a pathetic loser who hasn't known human touch and eats worms for breakfast and doesn't bathe but as a girl he'd just slay so hard like he'd be the freudian goth gf the madonna the whore the legend the moment. liiiike all of That in a man is just sad, but in a woman? she'd be the it girl. god i think i can start seeing what ogatagirls are seeing. but they're not enlightened like me so it's ok
sugimoto: i think sachie would be a bit butchy. she'd be like jjk maki after her itachi arc which honestly, wig. sugimoto is great as a man but it would be elevated if he were a woman because women with anger issues are iconic and the scars would be hot af and-
shiraishi: honestly... honestly? honestly. i will take it. yoshiko would be the perfect ratio of rancid to irresistible, like a female fuckboy the girls are annoyed about being into. she and sachie would be butch4butch and there would be peace and love on planet earth. etc
vasily: this is due to a fundamental fact of life - ginger men are nature's bashful mistake, a way for us to be reminded that we'll always have some creatures in our midst, a way to battle human hubris, the genetical dead end of human hope, while ginger women are lilith's daughters so literally goddesses. as a man he's boring and just some guy like who cares. as a woman? tall, with a thick golden-red braid and piercing icy eyes, aloof but with a sensitive side? vasilisa, you should have been a woman. you should have been a woman.
anyway noda should just remake gk where everything is exactly the same but these characters are women. it would make it 50 times better.
ambivalent choices:
hijikata: honestly i feel like the granussy could be slayful. but on the other hand it's hijikata and he's boring by definition so idk...
kiroranke: mixed feelings on this. could work, could be a disaster
kadokura: we need more pathetic women. for feminism. putting him here because it's not S-tier though
should stay a man:
tsurumi: look i know that i'm betraying my brand here but tsurumita does absolutely nothing for me and i don't think that making him a woman would elevate the experience. maybe it's because he's such a sexless creature to me i just can't bring myself to imagine him as otherwise but anyway personally it's a no from me. he should stay a horrible man
tanigaki: just no.

Is there a space to put the embarrassment at not knowing all of this sooner? I am very young and I still cringe remembering how misogynistic I was before. I feel like I wasted so many years hating being female, hating women because I was too alive to fit inside some concept of ribbons and nails. Thank you for creating female-centred "femininity" if that is the right word (I think Twitter is right about using "-coded"). That "female-centred femininity" should be part of outreach.
Okay so the first part of this ask I understand, and the second half completely lost me and I have no idea what's going on in there, I am having some suspicions so I will address it as if my suspicions are correct, but if I'm wrong and understood this incorrectly, my bad.
I relate to your embarrassment anon! I too, have said horrible things I regret, not knowing better, being in a society that taught us these things as if they're the norm, as if putting women down was a regular activity we should all participate in. I remember laughing at disgusting jokes because I thought we were supposed to dismiss the misogyny and take it for granted that it's okay to make such jokes. I don't feel embarrassed about it anymore, I'm angry. I was taught since I was a child to turn against my own, to put my own kind down, to laugh at jokes that dismissed my own humanity, to look at other women as less than they really are. It was a crime against me to groom me like that, to normalize that insane hatred of my own, in my own language and actions, it is not something I did to myself, it's not something i knowingly and intentionally participated in, it was stolen from me.
I think we should celebrate when we realize we don't have to exist within any kind of gender norm, and that we can look whatever we want to look like, and be whatever we want to be like, and it doesn't take away a thing from our value.
Okay so the second part confused me, because you mention femininity, but that word means nothing to me, femininity is merely a performance, the definition we use here is 'male fantasy'. Nobody is naturally 'feminine', it's just a set of expectations and appearances that are forced on us, it's what we fight against.
'Female-centered-femininity' sounds like a ridiculous concept to me, why would we preform male fantasies for other women?
I wonder if you maybe conflated my posts about nature, growing food, creating baskets, furniture, learning about herbs wild plants and medicine and trees, with some kind of reductive concept like 'these are actions expected of women to do for m*n in a patriarchal society, so this is femininity', because that's not it. We're learning how to live from nature and create things in order to start a revolution against m*n, in order to no longer need their society or their resources for survival. It's an act of defiance, a fight to save the planet from what males are doing to it, to revitalize nature and to live in a way that doesn't require any male presence, or any male influence.
A lot of what women do in society, such as building community, having incredibly creative and artistic hobbies, growing food, creating resources, caring for each other, learning about nature, is reduced to 'silly women stuff' and put in same category as makeup and shopping, but these are actually incredibly powerful tools of creation that keep the society going. Where would we all be if our mothers didn't invent thousand things we needed in order to grow up. Where would we be if they weren't incredible masters of creation and care who brought us up. I don't ever want to reduce all that to femininity or some kind of silly thing women do, this is life, this is creation, this is what kept the planet going while males were out there building machines that created damage to the planet, started wars that destroyed lives, created economy that makes sure only they are paid for their work, which is redundant and damaging, while we do life-sustaining, extremely necessary and useful actions, which are taken for granted and ignored.
People have told me a few times that my posts remind them of their childhood, because they remember picking fruit and vegetables, making jams and canning, or learning about plants from their mothers, during their childhood, and these are incredibly happy, nostalgic memories, that don't come as often. Why is that? Because as soon as we grow, we enter the patriarchal system in which we're not longer supposed to pick berries or make jams or grow food, we're told to become a part of capitalistic machine or there's no space for us to exist anymore. This is something that is taken from us, our bond with nature, our ability to thrive and enjoy life while picking nature's fruit and our own knowledge to save it, to create food security. I'm finding my way back to this, and I see the future in it. Rejecting the security of male systems is powerful, and it brings us back to the basics of life that we can enjoy in, the diversity of activities, the closeness to nature, the opportunities to work together, share, tell stories, interact in ways that don't warrant competition, but togetherness.
I went a bit off topic, but I wanted a chance to talk about this, and I hope you're not offended I don't like the words you've been taught to use, I don't think it's your fault at all, anon, I think we were all very much cheated with the words like femininity.
