For anyone that may not know, United Democracy Project (UDP) is AIPAC's Super PAC (as you can see, the name is meant to be inconspicuous). Anyway, here's why this matters; UDP was founded in Dec. 2021, and they have since spent nearly $30 million on Democratic primaries.

In 2022, UDP worked with four major democratic firms and put close to $3 million into campaigning against Summer Lee. This was the first time AIPAC had ever supported the GOP against a progressive House candidate. Lee nonetheless won, and was one of only TEN votes against a bill asserting the House "stands with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists." Lee also supported the resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

There is a very good chance AIPAC (and/or UDP) will support Lee's opponent, pro-Israel Democrat Bhavini Patel, for the 12th District seat this year. In fact, there is a very good chance they'll put their money towards sabotaging anyone who speaks out against Israel. For the record, on 02/02/2024, UDP filed a $47,313.74 expenditure in opposition of Democrat Senator Dave Min. Although Min made a statement condemning Hamas, he also called for Netanyahu to be held accountable for security and leadership failures on/following Oct. 7. Obviously AIPAC wasn't thrilled about that.

I also really recommend using OpenSecrets.org. As we all know, America's politicians are virtually all bought and paid for. Since we have no choice but to suffer a government run by corporate shills, we may as well all stay informed as to who's suck-or-fucking our elected representatives at the expense of us all.

Another thing I noticed, mostly from my second week onwards, is that this town does not, in fact, have much of a nightlife. All the shops are closed and vacated by sundown, and now I even believe I can recall odd looks from locals when I would sit still watching the sunset while everyone else was readying to go home, if not already there.

Hiya all! My name's Oliver and I'm your typical writer online.

I've made this blog to connect all of my written universes and make them a bit easier to find, without mixing them unnecessarily.

I typically dip my toes in horror, and that's what I enjoy writing the most, alongside suspense etc.

Recently I've been giving analog horror a go, and it's been interesting, still having to figure out how it goes, but we'll see as we go. Hopefully, on this blog as well.

HTTP/3 came about because the QUIC protocol wasn't quite 100% compatible with HTTP/2.

But that's ok. Most of us won't encounter any issues if we are developing down to the HTTP layer but not beyond.

QUIC, however, is a generous leap beyond what we had before which was based on TCP. QUIC is actually built on top of UDP which at first consideration seems counterintuitive given that there is no guarantee of delivery for UDP packets. To counter this, QUIC handles packets within its protocol. This also means that QUIC can encrypt a lot more of the message meta than TLS on top of TCP.

The net result is significant improvements in performance AND security with QUIC. It also means that network devices between the origin and destination can not as easily sniff inside packets to get that juicy meta information since it is now encryped.
