Some of my thoughts about Robby for s6...

First, I wonder if Robby will start out the season having quit karate again. At the beginning of s4, he had told Kreese that he didn't care about a stupid trophy after everything that had happened. He didn't want to be part of the dojo war, but he ended up joining Cobra Kai and eventually fighting in the avt. At the end of s4, he was more upset about what he'd done during his match with Kenny and about his struggle with his trauma/"hate" than about his loss in the tournament. He quit karate again. He didn't want to be a part of Cobra Kai, and there was no indication that he wanted to rejoin Miyagi-Do if it were open. In s5e6, he re-joined Miyagi-Do and the fight against Cobra Kai, along with the Miyagi Fangs, but he clearly told Daniel that there are people he cared about in Cobra Kai and that they (Miyagi Fang) all needed to take down Silver.

At the start of s6, maybe he'll be focusing on himself and his future, without karate in the mix. Although Robby is really talented, karate has brought him nothing but more trauma. I also don't see Johnny paying much attention to him or encouraging him as the Sekai Taikai champion as much as Johnny will focus on Miguel and his future. Robby was just staying with Johnny for the summer. s6 picks up after the start of the school year. Shannon should have returned by then, which means that Robby could be back living with her. Robby may not even be in Johnny's vicinity at the start of s6, and that would be good for him as his situation with Johnny is toxic. This would also open up storyline potentials for Robby. He has no real family (I assume Shannon is more like a roommate), no real friends except for Tory (and maybe Kenny), and no school, so Robby also being away from Johnny gives the writers a more open canvas to work with for Robby. Of course, at one point something would happen and Robby would re-join Miyagi-Do and continue with karate and training for the Sekai Taikai.

Next, in a recent q&a, Hayden said that the dojo will have to select team leaders from each dojo. Johnny would no doubt back Miguel for the boys and Daniel would back Sam for the girls, regardless if more girls joined. Daniel may show some support for Robby to lead the boys, but that remains to be seen. Hawk is in Miyagi-Do and won the avt. If anything, Miguel and Hawk would be supported by the senseis over Robby, and Hawk would definitely step aside for Miguel to lead.

So, most likely Miguel would be the leader for the boys, at least starting out. But, would Robby actually follow his lead completely? In s5e9, Robby went on his own to the CK dojo without the Miyagi Fangs knowing. It shows that Robby would still operate independently if he needs to. Also, in the brawl, when Miguel yelled protect the egg, everyone gathered around Anthony. But when Miguel yelled "Ais!", no one moved. Then Robby yelled it and everyone got into defensive stance. When I saw Hayden's tweet, I realized that my Robby as a leader post actually has some relevance after all. Narratively, Robby has been built out as a leader compared to all the other kids.

Of course, if my first thought above about Robby is true, then at the start of the season, Robby wouldn't even be in the dojo, so Miguel starting out as the leader for the boys would be a given anyway. However, eventually Robby would become the leader at some point because narratively he's been built out to be.

Finally, there's a certain payoff that I'm hoping we'll see. In s3e3, Bobby encouraged Johnny to be there for both boys. Bobby then arranged a visit for Johnny with Robby in juvie. Johnny missed the visit. In s3e4, Johnny was on the phone with Bobby and told him to tell Robby that he's going to make things right with Robby. Bobby obviously refused to do that for Johnny, so Johnny said he'd tell Robby himself.

Since this scene, Bobby hasn't come back. But I think it stands out that Robby specifically met Bobby. Bobby had done a pure act of kindness for Robby and for Johnny. In turn, Bobby himself experienced first hand that Johnny chooses Miguel over Robby. This was after Bobby had told Johnny to be there for both boys. Fans like to quote Bobby saying this, but they always leave out the phone call that followed after Johnny blew off the visit. After this, Bobby doesn't know that Johnny continued to choose Miguel over Robby, abandoned Robby for months, and eventually left Robby with Kreese after Johnny had a violent confrontations with both of them and Kreese tried to kill Johnny. In s2e6, Bobby was not happy with Johnny's decision to let Kreese back into his life. So, Bobby definitely wouldn't approve of Johnny leaving Robby with Kreese.

I don't think Bobby would approve of how Johnny treats Robby overall. And I think Bobby having this first hand experience may influence Bobby to be on Robby's side if Bobby were to learn more details. I've seen fans say that they want Bobby to return to officiate a Johnny-Carmen wedding, but fans ignore that Bobby wasn't happy with Johnny for blowing him and Robby off. Silver can see the Johnny-Robby situation for what it is: that Johnny screwed up Robby. Kreese even told Johnny that he should have been with his "real" son. Bobby would definitely not blindly support Johnny's behavior as is. Bobby also didn't approve of drunk Johnny disrupting his sermon. He wouldn't have approved of Johnny's dumbass drunk move at the end of s5. Bobby would encourage Johnny to work on himself and his behavior with Robby. In s3, Bobby had Johnny promise himself that he would do positive things, be a better person, and do the right thing because it's the right thing to do. Johnny didn't keep that promise. Johnny at the end of s5 is worse than at the end of s3.

Robby needs at least one consistent supportive adult, and so far, none of the adults have been that. Bobby would be a great support system for Robby. Bobby has a history with Johnny, but would still put Johnny in his place. Bobby did this act of kindness for Robby, so Robby knows of him now and knows his kindness. Bobby is also not involved in the dojo war. For Robby's story and the story overall to be complete, Robby's side of the story has to be told, which Bobby can also help do.

It's the last season, and it would be thoroughly disappointing if Bobby didn't make an appearance again. If Bobby is in s6, I would like to think that Rob Thomas himself wouldn't want Bobby to just overlook everything that is wrong with the Johnny-Robby situation and cheer on a wedding for a man who clearly needs help and who continues to traumatize his son. (Besides, in an interview, Hayden was dismissive of the idea of Johnny and Carmen getting married. Makes sense, cause nothing in the story indicates that the baby plotline (aka the "Johnny screwing up another kid" plotline) or the toxic blended "family" are part of Johnny's endgame. Johnny and Robby's story has to conclude now, and the baby plot device was obviously used to place Johnny at the top with everything to lose and Robby at the bottom with nothing to lose, including himself (which he gave up to appease Johnny after hearing the baby news). s6 will be Act 3, the final stretch of Johnny's redemption story. Robby is the person that Johnny has wronged the most overall and throughout the series. Now is the point in the story that Johnny gets the wake-up call he needs (and should have gotten a long time ago, honestly). Johnny's redemption will only come if he make things right with and for Robby.)

Thank you so much for the tag, @jerzwriter 🥰 This is such a lovely idea! I miss writing Valentine's Day fics for my OTPs, but due to health issues, I just have energy to answer this tag and share some headcanons:

Liam and Jade celebrated Valentine's Day with a romantic dinner in Valtoria. They had a band playing live for them, Jade sang All I Need (Christina Aguilera) to Liam and Liam (who loves a classic music but is learning more about popular ones) asked the band to play And I Love Her (The Beatles) while he slow danced with his queen.

The odds of Logan and Carla being together on Valentine's Day were slim (though they have plans for a proper celebration some other time). Logan spent the night listening Blue Eyes (Elton John). Carla, on the other hand, listened to Wrong Places (H.E.R.) on repeat while looking through a memory box filled with photos, movie tickets, napkins of places they went together.

Hayden and Natasha went on a trip to Vermont, prepared themselves a romantic dinner at the cabin they rented until Sunday while listening to their favourite ballads like Wonderful Tonight (Eric Clapton) and (Best Part (Daniel Caeser ft. H.E.R.).

Jax and Samantha spent the night at a karaoke bar singing and drinking (tequila shots, obviously) together. Jax sang Always (Bon Jovi) to Samantha and Sam dedicated/sang Love on The Brain (Rihanna) to him.

Rafael and Evelyn surely had a fun night going out to dance. Evelyn now knows how to dance samba, so they danced to O Que É Amor (Maria Rita) and listened to Es Por Ti (Juanes) on their way home because it's one of Evelyn's all time faves.

Last but not least, my AU babes: Annabelle and Veronica went to a pub, drank until they could barely walk, played pool and air hockey. On the way back home, both of them asked the Uber driver play Annabelle's fave song Fade Into You (Mazzy Star) and Veronica's fave Cuide Bem Do Seu Amor (Paralamas do Sucesso).

Hamid and Daphne also went on a trip (to Copenhagen). They went skiing during the day and at night they had a very cozy dinner by the fire while listened to a collaborative playlist they have for date nights and another romantic moments. Hamid's latest addition to their playlist was Paris In The Rain (Lauv) and Daphne's was A Sorta Fairytale (Tori Amos).

An excerpt from 3x10

(Episode written by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Bob Dearden)

We return to the present day, and see the version of Kreese we know and hate looming on the mat above Johnny — who’s still down on his back, after being sucker-punched with a sai and elbowed roughly by Kreese.

KREESE: (says to Johnny, his voice oozing malevolence-) I thought there was still hope for you.

Johnny can only cough and splutter, having had the wind knocked out of him by Kreese’s sai.

Then Kreese aims the sai at Johnny! Despite being weakened by Kreese’s sneaky attack, Johnny manages to defiantly kick the sai out of Kreese’s hands.

However, this just sets Kreese off. Once again, Kreese seems bound and determined to…kill Johnny dead.

A second later, Kreese actually tries to kill him!!! Kreese kneels down over Johnny and — for not even the first time — begins choking the aire right out of Johnny with his cold, bare arm and hand.

KREESE: (seethes murderously, as he strangles the life out of Johnny-) This isn’t how I wanted this to end.

Kreese tightens his grip. Meanwhile, Johnny — who can’t even speak at this point (much less fight back) — feels the life draining from him, and thinks:

This is it for me. Goodbye, Robby. Sorry I failed you from birth. I hope you can forgive me someday. Goodbye, Miguel. Thank you for believing in me and being my second son. Goodbye, Carmen. I never got to tell you I love you, but hopefully you knew anyway. Take good care of Miguel. Goodbye, Ali. I secretly still love you, too. Thanks for saying I didn’t screw up our day together. It was the best last day on earth I could’ve hoped for — until this part. Goodbye, Bobby. You’re a great priest. Thanks for visiting Robby in juvie, even though I let Miguel’s yaya convince me to stay at the hospital and didn’t join you. Goodbye, Dutch. I hope you get released from Lompoc soon. Goodbye, Jimmy. Goodbye, Eagle Fangs. I’d say more, but it’s getting a little hard to think now….

Just when Johnny’s woozily beginning to wonder if he should bid farewell to LaRusso…a foot kicks Kreese!!! The impact sends Kreese rolling away from Johnny (looking really stupid as he does so).

The musical score again crescendos to an epic level of dramatic — and we see Daniel!

(The owner of the foot that kicked Kreese away from Johnny, sparing Johnny’s life.)

Daniel’s overflowing with anger and rage; because he returned home from the country club and saw what the Cobras did to his home while he was out, and heard what Tory did to Samantha. So Daniel came straight here to the Cobra Kai dojo — to personally give John Kreese a piece of his mind, and show Kreese what’s what!

Daniel points accusingly at Kreese, roaring in fury-

DANIEL: You sent them to my house?!?! You came after my daughter?!?!

Daniel gestures at his own self as if to say Bring it!, and challenges Kreese-

DANIEL: You wanted a fight, you sumb***h, now you got one!

Kreese rises to his knees, grinning like a nutcase because he really does want to fight Daniel.

However, Daniel’s momentarily distracted away from Kreese by the sight of Robby Keene — still lying in an unconscious state next to the bank of lockers.

DANIEL: (very surprised and concerned) Robby!

Kreese ignores Daniel’s concern over Robby — something Kreese displays not a smidge of. He says to Daniel-

KREESE: I told you.

Kreese stands the rest of the way up.

KREESE: (raising his fists at Daniel) This was inevitable.

Daniel — neither intimidated, nor afraid — raises his hands, and moves them into his best defence position.

Kreese then walks over to Daniel and starts swinging and kicking at him. But Daniel isn’t the biggest karate star in the whole Valley for no reason. He blocks and ducks each attempted move by Kreese.

This quickly frustrates Kreese, who yanks the lapels of Daniel’s white shirt and pulls Daniel closer to him — almost right up to Kreese’s bloodied ole face.

KREESE: (sneers in Daniel’s face, clutching the lapels of Daniel’s shirt-) You can’t keep up this defence only s*** forever.

DANIEL: (sneers back-) Good thing I don’t have to!

Daniel breaks free from Kreese. Then he punches Kreese two times, making Kreese stagger backwards.

Daniel immediately raises his hands back up into defence position. Again, Kreese attempts to land several punches on Daniel. Again, Daniel blocks Kreese’s moves — and not only that, Daniel lands a punch and a kick on Kreese.

So finally, Kreese (who lacks anything resembling a scruple and wouldn’t recognise honour if it bit him in the nose, and minutes ago for the second time nearly killed his best-ever student) once again resorts to low-down, dirty trickery. The next thing we know, he’s lifted Daniel off the floor and is running with Daniel…right through a big glass window!!!

KREESE AND DANIEL: (both yelling for all they’re worth, as Daniel kicks and struggles to escape Kreese’s grasp) Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Kreese and Daniel land outside on the paved parking lot; Kreese is oaf-ishly on top of Daniel, although the lummox gets right off. Both are groaning in pain and both appear roughed up (Daniel now has blood on his face and shirt), yet they’re alive.

But Kreese doesn’t want that to be true for Daniel much longer! Daniel manages to sit up -- just in time to see Kreese pick up a shard of broken-window glass from the pavement.

In case his intent isn’t already clear, Kreese tells Daniel-

KREESE: (evilly, insanely, maniacally) Time for you and Miyagi to reunite!

How dare you, Daniel thinks, offended on instinct by the disrespectful way Kreese spoke of Mr. Miyagi. Daniel’s also horrified, though, at the giant shard in Kreese’s hand. For a few stunned seconds, he watches Kreese. Then Daniel remembers his recent visit to Okinawa, Japan — and the wealth of information he learned there from his former enemy, Chozen Toguchi.

respond to the prompts out of character!

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? I wanted to write Anakin for years, but I don't half ass pick up any character. It's one of the reason why I keep my multi under 15, at all times. I have to have them fleshed out. I've been fascinated by Vader since I was a child. All my friends had Leia Halloween costumes. I just wanted to be Vader. Anakin intrigued me, as well, as I got older. I ALWAYS loved Hayden as Anakin. But, I spent years before ultimately choosing to write him. I had to learn mannerisms, ways he fights, his quirks, his emotional responses, and Vader, because Vader is Anakin.

is there anything you don’t like to write? Look when you play one of the biggest villains in pop culture, there is not much that is off limits. I refuse to ever write or AU him, as a Rebel. He would never be a rebel and I would never write him as such. I also only very rarely and only really for I think one or two people, will write him not falling. His fall is extremely important to what the chosen one prophecy needs, to fufill. I'm not huge on fix-it. I mean, sometimes I enjoy them and I will never change Hayden as Anakin's FC. I don't ship him with other males, with the exception of one and it's writer specific. I don't write smut on him to just write smut, but if it fits, I'm okay. I also don't auto ship.

is there anything you really enjoy writing? Angst, pain, drama, things that make you cry and hate life. I love happiness if we have like something dramatic too. The prequels are a tragedy. They just are. Anakin's life even before his fall, he may have been married, but he was at war. He has brief times with Padme for instance, when he does have happy moments, but war is something that was a lot of his life. I lean towards his destiny more towards trying to create a healthy family dynamic, that didn't exist.

how do you come up with headcanons? I have things knocking around my head and sometimes I get asks. I'm currrently working on one, for three days now based off someone asking me what I thought of one quote.

do you write in silence or do you play music? usually, the TV is on.

do you plan your replies or wing them? I wing them mostly or for the most part, I don't pre-read the previous reply always. I mean, I will sometimes, but with certain partners, I know how I'll react. Sometimess, I have to calm Anakin or Vader down if it's angst before I reply because he's a mess, who will say things, if I don't. But, my best rp partners understand his reactionary responses.

do you enjoy shipping? I love shipping. Just not having it forced on me. I'm open to a lot, if it it makes sense. I also love many types of connections.

For the last year and half and some change, 100% it has to be Mica (mayxthexforce) and Tori (bchemianrhapscody). With Mica, I have talked to her more than I have talked to anyone, in a time when things were really hard for me, after I lost my mom. But, there are others in the Star Wars fandom, and those are people who have been my friend, even when lies were told and I lost long-term friends. Some people aren't like bestie status but I adore them so much. More recently, I have been talking a ton to @story1ines of late and she is quickly becoming a close friend who I bombard with messages. I also adore @xx--ofmanythoughts--xx, who listens to my baseball ramblings.

I have been on tumblr rp for 13 years and there are people who have come and gone. I will always still communicate with the ones I was the closest to in the world offline, but I forever love my first rp friendship, the Rachel to my Puck, my main Tara to my Jax who I wrie with on Discord only now, the only Wendy I will ever accept to my Jax, my one and only Athelstan and Philippe @mcnsieur, who even though I don't talk to everyday by any means because life is busy, I literally can message her anytime. So many other people I am not remembering.

Promises Kept

Summary: Bucky and Sam visit the set of a movie about their partnership, that is a week away from beginning shooting. When he sees the stunt double portraying the Winter Soldier he expresses a concern about the man being accurate enough to satisfy him. The actress portraying Natasha Romanoff comes up with a unique solution.

Length: 3.7 K

Characters: Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, OFC (Hayden, Tory), OMC (Luke, Brad, Everett, Shane).

Warnings: Cursing, Bucky’s anxiety and PTSD, slight misunderstanding about gay OMC. Apologies to stunt men everywhere who might take exception to being replaced by a cosplayer.

Author note: The idea for this one shot came from the picture of Sebastian Stan on the right side of the banner. It seemed like he was using just his eyes and a hint of a smile to say something meant only for the person who was taking the picture, or, for the purposes of this one shot, the actress who captured his heart.

It had been more than a year since the Flag Smashers; the operation that brought Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson to the attention of the world, when the two men took on the task of stopping the misguided efforts of Karli Morgenthau and the other super soldiers of that group. They were visiting the set of the movie being made about their partnership, beginning with their initial encounter while Bucky was still the Winter Soldier. Both men had agreed to work as technical consultants for the movie, although Sam had to convince Bucky to be involved. Their visit, arriving during a rehearsal involving actress Hayden Summer, portraying Natasha Romanoff, as she worked with the stunt coordinator, and her stunt double was supposed to be a look behind the scenes for the two real-life heroes; a look at how movie magic was made.

As Bucky walked in with Sam Wilson, it was like his whole presence took over the facility. His build, the shoulders, the thighs and the distinctive dark hair and ice blue eyes dominated the attention of everyone. Hayden nudged her stunt double Tory in the side and muttered.

"Holy fuck, I need to be spritzed."

Right away Bucky stared at her, and she blushed, realizing he actually heard her from the other side of the facility. It wasn't just a look, either. It was like he could see right into her soul. She grabbed Tory by the arm.

"Please get me out of here," she said, as the men approached. "I'll die if he talks to me."

Too late.

"Hayden Summer is portraying Natasha Romanoff," said the producer / director, Everett Morgan. "Hayden, this is Bucky Barnes."

"Would you like a towel or a spray bottle to cool down?" asked Bucky, a slight grin on his face. "You're glowing."

"And this is Sam Wilson," said Everett, as Sam stepped forward to shake her hand.

"Don't mind, Buck," said Sam. "I guess my double isn't here today?"

"The men are in this afternoon," interjected Tory, shaking Sam's hand. "Tory West, stunt double." She looked up at Bucky then shook her head. "You're bigger in real life and Brad isn't as tall and well-built as you, although Luke is. Everett, how's that going to look? You know that the big fans know every detail about these two." She looked at Sam. "Your stunt double and actor are built just like you, but this one ... seeing him in real life I don't know if Brad can pull it off."

Bucky was still looking at Hayden, making her feel many things ranging from uncomfortable to aroused.

"Don't they use special effects to make things look bigger than life?" he asked, finally looking at Tory, then Everett. "Remember, at that time, I was probably at the peak of my physical capabilities, so I was even bigger."

"It'll be fine," said Everett, a little too hastily. "Costuming will bulk up his clothing and Bucky's right. Post-production will make it look good."

Sam, noticing the looks between Bucky and Hayden shook his head and grinned. It had been a while since someone had that effect on Bucky. This technical consulting thing could be interesting.

After visiting other parts of the interior set, still under construction the entourage went to lunch where Everett did his best to assure Bucky that the actor portraying him, and his stunt double were more than capable of being truthful in showcasing the Winter Soldier. He promised it. When they returned to the rehearsal stage everything seemed to fall apart after Bucky stood next to the stunt double for the actor portraying him, physically confirming what Tory had said. After watching the men rehearse that afternoon, Bucky had to agree with her. The actor could pull it off, but the stunt double just didn't seem to look or move like him. He watched impassively as they rehearsed the scenes then shook his head.

"I'm sorry but your stunt double isn't right to portray me," he said to Everett, then looked at Sam. "He's not big enough, menacing enough, and his stance is all wrong."

"Diva," muttered Hayden.

Bucky looked sharply at her, making her blush. "May I demonstrate?" he asked.

Everett looked alarmed. "No, no, I don't ...."

"I won't hurt anyone," said Bucky. "I just want to show you the difference. Brad, you're a good stunt double but I just don't think you're right to portray me. No offence but the Winter Soldier was known for his look as much as his actions. He knew he was the best because even though they tortured him and beat him into submission they also called him the Asset and told him no one was his equal. That murder strut? It wasn't just confidence in his abilities. It was his body compensating for a forty-pound arm, that was more of a battering ram than anything. He felt fear but he was programmed not to show it. Showing fear was showing weakness and that would earn him more torture, especially in the chair."

Luke Hogan, the actor portraying Bucky listened carefully as he said all this, nodding his own head with the realization of the duality of the real person. Hearing Bucky Barnes refer to the Winter Soldier as "him" was enlightening and he had a sudden insight into how Bucky compartmentalized his time as the assassin. Even the actor portraying Steve Rogers was listening in, certain that this peek into the Winter Soldier would affect his own performance in their encounters.

"I'd like to see Bucky demonstrate it," said Luke. "Just for my own sense of the character. You can only get so much out of the video. Everett?"

"Okay, but Bucky, you gotta remember this is play fighting," he said. "Pull your punches and please don't hurt Tory."

"I've trained raw recruits," smirked Bucky. "I know how to pull my punches."

Taking his jacket and Henley shirt off so that he was in his short-sleeved T-shirt Bucky let the stunt coordinator set up the scene and easily jumped up on top of the platform, doubling for the car he jumped on. With the prop weapon in hand, he strutted down towards the ground, holding it like it was naturally part of his body. A recording of Natasha's phone distracting him started up and Bucky approached the prop car where she was supposed to be hiding. Pretending to take the grenade off of his belt and roll it under the car Bucky stepped back, his focus on the other side of the car, preparing for the kill shot. The stunt coordinator yelled Boom to cue the explosion and Tory jumped on Bucky's shoulders, pulling her garrotte out. The pair fought then Bucky stopped just before throwing her off and lowered her gently to the ground instead.

"Well done," he said, then he looked at the others. "Did you see the difference from how you did it?"

"He's right," said Tory, looking at Brad, the other stunt double. "Sorry, Brad."

"Well, shit," said the stunt man, then sighed. "The height difference is noticeable and post-production won't cover it up without looking like CGI. Not sure who you can get to take my place that can get the choreography down before filming starts next week."

"Can Bucky do it?" asked Hayden. Everyone looked at her. "I mean, he lived it, right? It's true you remember everything about that time as your programming broke down. You were pretty convincing just now."

Bucky picked up his Henley shirt and jacket, staring at her again, breathing noticeably. "It's not as easy as that," he said tersely. "My arm is different now."

"We can green sleeve it and CGI the other arm in," mused Everett. "We'd have to get you into the union, if Brad doesn't object. I can keep Brad in for other stunts to make up for losing this gig. I'm not going to lie, if word gets out Bucky's involved as a stuntman it could boost ticket sales."

Sam watched Bucky carefully, knowing there was something deeper going on. The arm excuse was just the easiest one to make. Without a word Bucky walked out and Sam looked at the others.

"Let me talk to him," he said, turning to follow his friend. "It's complicated."

Their driver put out his cigarette as he saw Bucky striding towards him. From the look on his face all was not well and he wondered what happened on set. Without a word Bucky threw his jacket into the vehicle, then pulled his Henley shirt back on while Sam approached. They both got into the back seat, with Bucky scowling.

"I can't do it," he said, flat out. "Remember how pissed off the Wakandans were when the video of me impersonating the Winter Soldier in Madripoor hit social media? I'm not going to bring him out again."

"It's not the same, Buck, you know that," replied Sam. "The camera angles will make it look real but it won't be him that's doing it. It will be you, pretending to be what you used to be. You're the one who pointed out the stunt man wasn't going to be convincing."

"Plus they want to market me as the stuntman." Bucky shook his head. "No, I'd rather they shut down production than compromise my integrity."

Sam let out an audible breath. "You realize if they do that then everybody associated with the movie gets laid off? Not just the actors, but all the stunt people, makeup people, costumers, lighting guys ... hundreds of people will be out of a job because you were unwilling to portray yourself as you used to be. You can always use an assumed name for your credit or ask that you don't be credited. Plus, they wouldn't show your face." Bucky looked blankly at him. "It's your body and your skills that they're using. Luke's face would be used for the closeups. He seemed very interested in your take on the Winter Soldier. I get the feeling he would like his performance to be authentic."

Bucky shook his head and looked out the window, frowning. Reluctantly, Sam told the driver to take them back to the hotel. As soon as they arrived Bucky got out of the vehicle and went straight to his room, not even waiting for Sam. Pulling his phone out Sam found a place to sit where he had some privacy and made a phone call to Shuri, telling her what happened. He didn't see Hayden and Tory arrive, but they found him and waited for him to finish his phone call.

"Is he okay?" asked Hayden. "What's going on with him?"

"Plenty," joked Sam, then he became serious and gestured for them to sit. "I don't like talking about him behind his back. I already reached out to a person who can talk to him, and I would like to leave it with her."

"Wife or girlfriend?" asked Hayden.

"No, scientist and friend," replied Sam. "Just give him time. He's a very private man and the movie being green lighted caused some anxiety. I think seeing it today just made it even more of an issue for him. He just has to work it out."

"I feel terrible for suggesting it," said Hayden. "He has PTSD, doesn't he?" Sam nodded. "Shit. I'm so sorry."

At that moment Bucky walked through the lobby, and Sam called to him. He stopped, looked, shook his head and stalked through the automatic doors. Hayden went after him, seeing him already some distance away. Running after him, she grabbed his arm, and he spun around, his face furious.

"What?" he growled. "Have you come to ask me to be a good team player? You want me to step up to save your precious movie? I ...."

He stopped speaking, his face twisted with anger and something else. Hayden looked at him sympathetically.

"Do you want to get drunk?"

He huffed. "Can't. The serum makes my metabolism burn through alcohol."

"Then where were you going?" she asked gently.

"I don't know, just away." He ran his hand through his hair then looked at her in a resigned manner. "I'm sorry. Seeing myself recreate what I was overwhelmed me. Even if it was pretend, it was too real to me. I did it for a mission last year and it did damage to people I care about. I vowed not to do that again."

Looking down at the ground, Hayden idly kicked at the sidewalk with her foot, then looked back up at Bucky. He really was handsome, even now with all the uncertainty and turmoil he was feeling. There had to be some way to save the movie.

"What if we find the right guy to be your stunt double?" she said. "There has to be someone who resembles how you were then. If he gets an intensive course in Bucky Barnes from you... behind the scenes, with no publicity."

"I don't know," answered Bucky. "They said themselves there's no other stunt guy that's available on short notice."

"Maybe we don't need a stunt guy, exactly," said Hayden. "Everett was right about movie magic. They can do all sorts of things in post-production but having you teach a guy how to look, move and act like you were when you were the Winter Soldier is most of it. You just teach him, and you won't be the one being filmed. He will be, because it's his job to portray you in ways that Luke can't."

Bucky stood with his arms crossed, watching her with a scowl on his face. She stared at him just as intensely. It was a standoff as neither of them looked anywhere else but at the other.

"Wow," said Sam, who appeared near them. "You both been standing here staring at each other for this whole time?"

"I can do this all day," replied Hayden, still staring at Bucky. "Four brothers tried to tease the shit out of me growing up, but I never backed down."

Bucky smirked but didn't blink. "I'll do the intensive training with the guy but under one condition," he said. "You find the right guy and you go out with me."

"That's two conditions," she stated.

"Two conditions then," growled Bucky. "Those are my terms."

"Promise?" She held out her pinky finger. "Pinky promise?"

A ghost of a smile creased Bucky's face but he linked his pinky finger with hers and she whooped, then ran to get Tory.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" asked Sam. "You didn't seem too thrilled to show Brad. What changed?"

"Her agreeing to go out with me," replied Bucky. "I like her."

The following day, after Bucky received Shuri's blessing to pass on his expertise in the Winter Soldier to the stunt man and the actor portraying him, he and Sam returned to the rehearsal space at the studio. Tory had phoned Sam to say they found a guy but wouldn't say anything more. When they got to the room Tory and Hayden were waiting.

"Where is he?" asked Bucky. "There's no one here."

Hayden smiled. "He's getting into costume, just to see if it fits and if he passes muster with you."

The sound of laughing caught their attention and she turned around to see Brad, Everett, Luke and another man enter. Bucky looked at the new man, not believing what he was seeing; an almost perfect replica of himself when he was the Winter Soldier.

"Holy shit," laughed Sam. "Where the hell did you find this guy?"

The men approached them, and Hayden placed her hand inside the arm of the man who was completely decked out as the Winter Soldier, complete with mask and eye goggles. He started to laugh, then took the face mask and goggles off, a look of complete and utter delight on his face as he saw Bucky.

"Wow! It's really him, I mean you, I mean ... you're Bucky Fucking Barnes." He offered his hand to Bucky, who took it as the man began to shake it. "Hayden, you weren't kidding. He's gorgeous in person."

She blushed. "This is my twin brother, Shane. He's had a big crush on the Winter Soldier since he first saw you doing that murder strut."

Bucky slowly pulled his hand away from Shane's. "Is this a joke?"

"Oh, gosh, no!" Shane looked alarmed. "No, please don't be offended. Some guys, when they come out, they become drag queens. I went the other way. I'm a Winter Soldier cosplayer. I portray you during that time when you exploded into prominence with your hair, and the mask, and that walk .... All that repressed hyper-masculinity just waiting to kick some Steve Rogers ass and take out Black Widow and the Falcon in the process." He looked beyond Bucky, seeing Sam and waving at him. "Hey Falcon, sorry, Captain America."

"Hey." Sam waved back with a shit-eating grin on his face, earning him a scowl from Bucky.

"He's not a stunt man," said Bucky. "He could get hurt."

"I'm not a stunt man but I play rugby, so I'm used to getting hit, I work out religiously, and I know your moves down pat," boasted Shane. "I've won so many cosplay competitions that I'm not allowed to compete anymore. Instead, I get hired to portray you at comic cons, role playing re-enactments, and just public appearances in general. I make a good living because I know how to look and act like the Winter Soldier. Plus, I grew up with three brothers and a sister that had no problem kicking my ass when I got too irritating. I might be gay but I'm no pushover. I can handle myself in a fight and the chance to portray you for this movie would make my life complete."

"He's got my vote," said Everett.

"He'll be getting a crash course in being a stunt double from me and we've arranged to get him into the union," said Brad. "If you're willing to fine tune his and Luke's mannerisms, I think we've found our guy. I'll still get a few stunts in the movie and get a fight choreography credit as well, which is fine by me."

They all looked at Bucky as he stood there. Then he circled once around Shane before coming to a stop in front of him. He glanced at Hayden, who just gave him a smug little smile.

"You played me," he said. "Did you hold back about your brother so I would ask you out?"

"Honestly? No." She looked at everyone. "I always thought Shane's hobby was cute but when you pointed out that the look and feel of Brad as the Winter Soldier wasn't authentic enough for you, it just got me thinking that an experienced Winter Soldier cosplayer might be a better way to go. With his name in the credits, you'll get a ton of cosplay fans coming to see this movie."

"You got a date with him?" asked Shane, looking with surprise at his twin. "Nice! I'm so jealous."

"Okay, I'll work with Shane and Luke," said Bucky. "As for our date, it's just with you. Sorry, Shane."

With the agreement complete between them Shane went to change into something more suitable for rehearsing, although the costume designer wanted a better look at his costume that he made himself, seeing details in it that she was unaware of. By the time the movie started filming two weeks later, after another week of rehearsal was wrangled with the studio, everyone was confident with what they were working on.

Bucky and Hayden went on their date, and another, then several more, adding a whole other level of interest to the movie that fans became aware of.

🎞️ 🎞️🎞️

18 months later – Los Angeles movie premiere.

The limousine was still several blocks from the theatre. Sam and his date held hands as he murmured into her ear. Bucky looked at Hayden, his right hand intertwined with her left. Somehow his thumb ended up playing with her engagement ring.

"Nervous?" She looked lovingly at him. "If the red carpet gets too much, just follow Kelsey. She'll get you into a green room where you can wait out the red carpet walk. I kind of have to do it regardless."

He gave out a breath of air. "A little," he admitted. "I'm getting better at it, but this is kind of my movie as well and I'm feeling the pressure." He noticed Sam's grimace at him. "Our movie, although I bet he'll lap up all the attention for both of us. Just keep hold of my hand and keep me centred."

"I can do that," she smiled. "It will be fine, I promise." She held up her pinky finger and he took it in his. "Test audiences loved it, commented on how well the Winter Soldier was portrayed so your work with Shane and Luke made a big difference. I'm going to sing your praises to anyone who will listen. I love you."

"I love you, too, doll," he smiled, before kissing her lightly on the lips, not wanting to smudge her makeup.

The vehicle stopped in front of the theatre and the driver came out to open the door on the passenger side. Sam and his date stepped out first, with him taking it all in stride, waving to everyone and calling out to the fans who were behind the barrier. Then he looked back into the limousine at Bucky and gave him a reassuring smile. Stepping out ahead of Hayden, Bucky waded into a huge cheer from the fans. At first the barrage of flashes from the photographers bothered him then he heard his name from inside the vehicle and looked back at Hayden. Right away, he felt better, and he returned her gaze with his own, that was almost a smile. Offering her his hand, he helped her out, still sharing the look that was a silent message they kept only for each other. As they walked on the red carpet, stopping every few feet for photos she kept her word, holding on to his hand with hers, knowing that action formed the very basis of their relationship. In addition to the love and trust they shared it was also a nod to that day when she promised him to find the right stunt double and he promised not to turn his back on the movie that meant so much to so many people. It was a promise made; a promise kept.

It has a bunch of self help/self care tips for neurodivergent people while also going through what it was like for Chloé to grow up neurodivergent herself and it’s made me freaking cry but in that ‘holy fuck she actually gets it’ way

Currently watching: still on season 5 of teen wolf & season 8 of supernatural & I’ve rewatched parts of heartbreak high, again lol — but I kind of want to start outer banks when I finish one of the other shows cause I keep getting edits for it and it looks good

I already showed off Cereza... everywhere except tumblr. Some of them are a bit boring to look at, but everything’s subjects to change. Here’s four outta six squidlets anyway. If the birth order is super important - Cereza #1, Joshua #2, Ayalet #5, Tori #6.

Cereza - She’s a bit quiet, but much like her father she tries to be good and keep her temper under wraps. Unlike her father, if there’s an outcome she wants to happen, she’s not afraid of manipulating things to go her way.

Joshua - Resembles his dad when he was younger, but certainly doesn’t act like it. Personality-wise he’s much like d4 Hayden, only slightly tempered by being around Doomguy.

Ayalet - Enjoys being the child of demi-gods a bit too much. Bleaches her hair to fit in with a maykr aesthetic. Unfortunately stubborn with an air of haughtiness.

Tori - The bad attitude runt of the litter. Doomguy’s anger + Samur’s penchant for just not shutting up. She knows she’s mean and stays a loner because of it, but she somehow managed to become Vega’s favorite grandkid.

okay! i have finally managed to catch up on some sleep and am gonna talk further s5 thoughts under the cut.

overall - i had a really good time watching it. i had talked myself down over the last week to a point where my expectations were more or less in the gutter, so it exceeded my expectations, in some ways it met them, and on one occasion it was even worse than i had anticipated.

the great: -as i said last night: C H O Z E N. chozen was a dream. all of you can go home this is the only good man. god, the way he just showed up every time and loved and protected and supported the larussos and miyagi do and et al unequivocally. his daytime telly, patrolling the house, fucking with silver and his instant connection with tory when he was undercover at cobra kai (i so so wish there had been more of that), his egg training sesh and his running into the barnes furniture store to save his ride or die. i am not exaggerating in the slightest when i say i was squeaking and kicking my legs and muttering i love you almost every time he was on screen.

-related, DANZEN. danzen season was better than I had hoped for. the way they like totally unabashedly hyped each other up, smiled softly at each other, clothed each other, went on underover ops and bought each other $2000 couches and pat pat patted each other and generally just loved all over each other like, constantly??? it was amazing. they were giving each other the love and support they deserve and i was fucken thrilled -the lack of kreese redemption. that was honest to god so sexy. kreese redemption was something i have been anticipating/fearing ever since they started rolling out that insane backstory. ymmv about this and that’s cool, but i didn’t like the idea of it for many reasons. so, i thought it was going to happen and i was ready to slog through it while rolling my eyes and sighing long-sufferingly and when johnny and daniel showed up at the prison i was like, here we fucking go i guess. so i cannot tell you the elation that coursed through my body when the camera focused on that note and i realized what was happening. i yelled. i have had sex less satisfying than johnny telling kreese to eat shit and then daniel putting a fullstop on it with no mercy motherfucker.

(daniel and jlawz 100% practiced their good cop bad cop routine in the van beforehand) -no one died!!! lucille was fine (if nonexistent!) chozen was fine!! daniel got punched in the heart metaphorically and hawk got punched in the heart literally and they were both fine!!! yeah!!! fuck you for making me worry for months hayden s you fucking troll!!!! -was personally thrilled that the one time an australian has made an appearance in the show it was a grifting hemsworth knockoff -daniel in the sauna. it was terrifying sure, but i was also just distracted by how utterly beautiful he looked in there. he looked amazing the whole season but especially there. daniel daniel daniel. i am still processing my thoughts on his s5 arc but i loved most of it. I wish that there had been more time to explore certain things but i love that his trauma and tendency to overreaction (or to be seen as overreacting) was addressed to an extent. i loved that we saw him receiving some of the love and generosity he had given out for once. that filled my heart -jessica!! i loved the way they wrote her into the fam, and the macaroni shoutout. i loved the way she pointed out so plainly what happened to daniel, in a way that couldn’t be handwaved or diminished. i would have loved to have seen her and daniel actually interact, but for now that pic robyn lively posted on twitter of her and ralph will have to suffice -reluctantly i must admit that mike barnes was not that bad. like i’m not about to ship him with my blorbo or anything, but he was fine. his storyline was fine and he even made me laff. i guess most of my mike animosity is based in animosity towards SK, not the character so much (also: the way mike apologized to daniel literally minutes after running into him again and jlaw is still crickets aha ha welp) -also reluctantly, i must admit that the running gag where daniel tried to break up fights over him between his old bullies and kept ended up getting beaned himself did made me laugh. baby boy!!! i’m sorry but my sense of humour is very low brow :(( -despite the valiant attempt to /no homo/ everything this season (see ‘the nah’ below), it was still extremely homo sorry about it. danzen i have already mentioned but lawrusso also gets a mention obviously for that butt slap, for “get your hands off him”, for we’re miyagi do / no we’re eagle fang, for the sudden uptick in touching generally. for the way daniel showed up drunk and dishevelled on jlawz’ doorstep and tried to start a fight/make himself feel something and johnny’s calm in that moment. for “i pushed him off a cliff” and that extremely beezee-esque double slap on daniel’s chest when they were singing eye of the tiger. (and i also now ship louie/anoush) (basically your no homo sign cannot work on me because i cannot read) (wont read) (refuse to) -sam and tory’s arcs. both individually and together. the scene where sam walked into tory’s apartment made me cry. them both working out what they were fighting for. they’re lawrusso vibes but like 35 years ahead of the curve and I was rooting for them so hard. -that corny little love-in for daniel at the dojo. mr miyagis room. the paint the house sign!! (immediate tears) acknowledgement of his grief and regret. the stuff between him and robby - i was p much convinced that we’d never see any further reference to robby’s time being mentored by daniel now that he was making things up with jlawz, and i was so soft for those two. so it really really made me happy to see a bit of something there -eli and demetri teamwork always always gets me. actually, the whole group/protect the egg teamwork stuff was great (that’s the point right? stronger together is the point) and i liked that they leaned into anthony’s strength not being physical like his sister and dad. something something captain planet -i liked that amanda actually got some meaty stuff this season -terry was deliciously evil. just off the wall batshit and i respect it. i mean, i was also very happy to see chozen and daniel beat tf out of him, don’t get me wrong, but he is a good villain

the nah: -oh carmen got did SO FUCKING DIRTY this season (rip in peace to her and shannon’s characteristions apparently).

unfunny story, this was a thing i said couple of weeks back in a post about the j-man:

so i had at least a half-sense that this was coming. however, i did not anticipate the do-over baby nor the fact that the no homo overcorrection would extend to pretty much everyone else as well. uh that’s on me i guess!!

-like. i adore chozen and kumiko. i love those pretend ppl so much it’s embarrassing and listen (despite my initial WHAT and damiko basically owning my heart and soul) I would not even be against the two of them kissing necessarily if it made them (and daniel) happy, but this just really felt like another deeply gratuitous no homo moment. what is wrong with them both being single anyway in their late middle age? they’re fine?? it’s not a curse to not be in a relationship. are we really doing this to try to stop people writing chozen luvs daniel online? bc folks will definitely still do that* so you are just diluting your story peeps *i’m currently writing ‘mr chozen larusso’ in cursive repeatedly in my diary -johnny’s entire will to live/fight back hinging on the photo of the fetus. who wrote this, the us supreme court??? i understand it was about what the photo ~represented~ rather than the actual scan itself but i dunno, maybe they could have used a photo of his actual outside-the-womb bigger than a potato child?? that turning point was genuinely so insane it startled a laugh out of me in what was meant to be a poignant moment (btw he’s soooooo hetero u guys) -in no time in the history of the world has any child or teenager responded to the news that their fifty something year old alcoholic dad knocked up his gf the way robby did btw. literally never. never ever ever. there was more nuance in daniel’s reaction lmao -the turnaround generally with miguel and robby from beating each other senseless to hugging and being like YAYE A HALF SIBLING was stupid fast. they are both deeply earnest babies so i absolutely believe they could get there, but there was literally no awkward teenage in-between time. they were fighting (johnny being like ok yeah fight it out was….. a thing that happened) and then they were 100% fine and. like. i liked their individual stories actually, but their interaction fell so flat. little steps in the right direction would have been just as moving and more believable, i think.

the i guess??? dot jpeg -CGI young johnny. cursed. if they ever try to cgi mr miyagi into this show i will literally nope out and exit the building so fast my head will spin off

-ok but chomiko really?? idk guys -daniel doing the crane kick was a lil bit cringe for me. in fact the pacing of his and silvers fight generally felt little off? i don’t know if it was just bc i was distracted worrying about chozen at that point?? but it didn’t quite hit. -the kreese ‘death’ didn’t quite hit either because i knew exactly what he was doing. did anyone not realise what he was doing?

anyway, that got long. i’m sure there are more things i have forgotten but they’ll out eventually.
