If I may ask another, Romeo et Juliette?

A musical that I have a very, very complex relationship with.

It was one of my first French musicals -- not one of my favorites (I have ALWAYS been an Atia and Chouet girl), but one of my first. Good music, Aimer was one of my eternal, lovestruck romantic songs from my teen years, the OTP song to end all OTP songs; Verona was one of my favorite musical songs (once an Escalus fucker, always an Escalus fucker), I loved C'est le Jour (being used to historical lit and period dramas means I have....no reaction to first cousin marriages, so I shipped Tybalt/Juliet, sorry lads.)

There used to be a dedicated French musicals fandom on here, so I was talking with people who were more invested in it than I was, me and a friend once listened to the London cast together and memed it to death. And when that community imploded, I joined the RetJ fandom more specifically after a couple of years. And...I did enjoy it. I was mainly in my own little corner, but I was talking about it, I was creating content for it. I didn't agree with everything, especially the way that Japanese productions were routinely dismissed, and I thought that people could be very harsh on individual productions in a way that wasn't particularly fun, but...I did enjoy the experience. I did enjoy working with other people, especially since, as a Toho fan and ESPECIALLY as an Escalus fan (and as someone who really cares about the women more than Mercutio), I was very locked in my own little corner with a few other people.

I fell in love with the musical. And with Shakespeare's original. I still think that this is My Adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, because it is really wonderfully faithful while modernizing it without being grimdark or cynical (yes, even the Hungarian.)

And...I refuse to go into details, because I have no intention of dredging up old ghosts, but it ended. Badly. I evacuated myself from the communities I was part of, leaving them to someone who hated me because I didn't want to split the fandom. I wanted to leave quietly, discretely, while potentially keeping some bonds. They used it as an excuse to spread their smear campaign to my old circles, something that I only found out about over a year later. No one bothered to tell me. I noticed that people were pulling away, some people have even blocked me on here, or else quietly unfollowed me, but I didn't know why and I tried to convince myself it was paranoia. I reached out to someone and they assured me that nothing had been said about me. Something I later learned was untrue. I won't accuse that person of lying, because I don't have a timeline, and I understand wanting to keep the peace, but my reputation and my mental stability were NOT acceptable collateral damage. I was suicidal, dammit, and I'm not just mad at the people who started the smear campaign, but the people who didn't bother to listen to me when I needed them the most.

And...I would say I'm not bitter about it, but actually, I am. Of COURSE I'm bitter about it. Even if I wasn't the most active member, I was there for years. I deserved better. And it has profoundly impacted the way that I still carry myself in a fandom context, because some part of me is always looking behind my shoulder. (I. Have never been able to join the BG3 fandom in the way I'd have liked to for a number of reasons, including my ongoing fear caused by this incident.)

...but, by the same token, I did rebuild myself, bit by bit, with Takarazuka musicals, including the Zuka RetJ. I wrote RetJ fanfic for myself and, without having a fandom to worry about appeasing, I wrote what I wanted -- some of my longest fics of the last three years have been Benvolio/Escalus fics that I almost CERTAINLY wouldn't have published when I had the dead weight attached.

So -- gorgeous musical, the Toho production will eternally have a place in my heart. I'm very happy that I can look at it without shaking now.

Design Deep-Dive #1: The Blank Canvas

This project started as a simple idea:

"I want to create new Magic cards I can play with friends, based on the world and characters of our shared D&D campaign."

I knew this would be a massive undertaking, but at first, I didn't know HOW massive. A blank canvas can be a terrifying thing, so I set off researching and defining scope. This brought me to several realizations, which became my guiding pillars to start making cards...

1. This will need to be an entirely self-contained set.

I do not have professional design and balance teams at my disposal. Rather than attempt to slot my cards in with 30+ years of existing Magic, I knew my best chance of creating fun, playable cards was to keep them self-contained. However! This meant I also needed to commit to a full-sized set, to ensure there's a deep enough pool for a proper sealed/draft experience.

2. I don't want any reprints of existing Magic cards.

This one's selfish, but it wouldn't feel right to simply re-skin real cards. Of course there will be staple effects in each color (burn, counterspells, ramp, etc), but a huge incentive to start this mad journey was to give my design chops a good workout... I would quickly learn that this is easier said than done. Turns out it's very easy to think you have a clever idea, only to search online and find that clever idea on a decades-old piece of cardboard!

3. I want to design new mechanics.

This goes hand-in-hand with #2, but it wouldn't feel like a proper set without a few flagship mechanics to call its own! These came surprisingly quickly, and became invaluable tools to structure the entire set. Look forward to deep-dives on each of these in the future.

4. I want to celebrate art we've already made.

Our D&D group is comprised of a bunch of artsy folks, and we've got over 5 years of stories to draw from (literally). I've made sure to get everyone's blessing to use their art and characters, and I hope it makes the set feel more personal. We even put together a zine-style artbook for it during the pandemic, so there are already some great pieces ready to get slapped onto cardboard.

5. I'm going to need a LOT more art.

Even counting all our existing work, I knew I could only count on those to cover a fraction of the cards. The good news is, I love to draw. But the honest truth is that this will be the longest part of this endeavor. At the rate I've been drawing so far, I've probably got another two-ish years to go.

(NOTE: I will absolutely NOT be pilfering art from strangers online or using any sort of AI-generated content. This project is a labor of love, and I'm in it for the long haul -- not looking for unethical shortcuts.)

6. I want to leverage my custom token template.

I've printed off several batches of custom tokens recently, and that's helped me develop a Photoshop template for stylish custom cards! It would need lots of tweaks to accommodate all the card types in a full set, but at least in this aspect, I wouldn't be starting completely from scratch.

7. I don't actually know how to build a set cube!

Cards on the table, I only started playing MtG a couple years ago. I've got a decent grip on the fundamentals, but I've certainly never tried to build a cube before. This Lucky Paper article was a perfect primer for me to get ballpark numbers, and I cross-referenced it heavily against recent set cardlists to create my own.

....And with all that in mind, it was off to the races!

I just started Good Omens and I'm in love with Sister Mary. Very Autism coded. I also blasted through like half of Way of The House Husband and Assassins Creed Dynasty

I didn't really go anywhere due to shitty health, but I did get to go to the mall like twice for Barnes and Nobel and that was pretty rad.

aabria is honestly one of my favorite gms to watch work. like, literally watch, i am 95% podcasts for my actual play media, but the visual elements of her games (esp. her npc facial expressions & acting choices) are so compelling. every damn time wuvvy looked at rue i died.

never not gonna be impressed with how smoothly this team integrated dnd combat & magic & skill checks with the good society framework to make a compelling, weighty, primarily social game. the unique tokens! (the significance to burning them!) the many pvp insight/deception checks over sighs and glances!!

brennan being an eternal gm is a crime, hob is The Most Character

like, picture me taking that character art of hob, printing it out, folding it up, and eating it. love him.

he’s a self-loathing emotionally obtuse plothound who claims to be bad with words but gives The Most Austen-style heart-wrenchingly vulnerable speeches. who else is doing it like him.

(seriously, if you’ve got regency media recs with hob-alike MCs I Want Them)

i am imagining some bonkers child creation magic — like, cabbage patch If You Want One It Will Grow stuff, genetics and gametes need not be involved stuff — that gives hob and rue an enormous passel of kids to love on and Treat Right, including at least one Owl With Bug Wings and two or three Literal Bears.

also picturing atla level confusion when the first one of those bears comes along. “just a bear?” “not a bugbear, not an owlbear, not a bugowlbear. just a bear.” “…this kid is weird.” “yeah, but we’re gonna love them like mad anyway right?” “oh yeah, of course, i’m just saying!”

deeply shocked andhera was able to sit through that detect thoughts at the tailor shop scene without blurting out SOMETHING, given his tendencies towards blurting out everything in other moments.

disastrous. andhera fails to keep his mouth shut, four wounded two dead. (rip buddy, you were a real one)

otoh. now i’m imagining a fun little trivia game at rue’s nearlywed shower with questions like “where did they meet” and “who asked whom” that give them an excuse to retell all of these cute stories about their relationship, and one question is “when did rue first realize they loved hob?”

the answer is supposed to be after they danced all night at the masquerade, because rue thinks it’s fine to lie a little for the Romance of it all, but andhera’s like “oh, i remember that! it was when hob told them what the k in k.p. stands for!”

and he’s very :D satisfied with himself for winning his team a point! not noticing rue and hob’s very complex face journeys as they silently have a Conversation about this.

most shocking moment for me, a person who saw a fair number of acofaf gifs on my dash last fall: chirp marriage & child reveal, no question. the cast around her reacting is also very good, but the twist in itself was honestly so unexpected! and it works fantastically to give the lords of the wing motivation to join the larger plot on Our Heroes’ Side, i thought that was very smartly done.

and last but not least, a fun fact!

I did not realize this until the ap episode where omar confirmed ace andhera, but my first dnd character was basically a mash-up of andhera and rue.

like. they were an ace paladin poorly faking charm and coolness, using a normative appearance (“imagine a combination of chris hemsworth and chris evans”) as a facade a scared, nonnormative creature hid behind— unfortunately my BINX-alike PC friend died early in the campaign, and the plot took priority over character exploration. but still: same hat!

god wakes everyone up so we can get ready for the next trial.

senna does her morning routine. getting clean and makeup and shit. wheatley immediately stands at the platform. teya uses her sending stone to let her bro know how shes doing.

trial of combat! 2 people left so 12 people are left. 4 different combatants increasing in difficulty. teams of 4 pog.

senna and teya naturally team up (GAY) wheatley RUNS at me (and doesnt remember my name) and begs to be on my team (naturally) parsley tries to find the guy he f*cked to team up. epic fail. senna invites him to join cause shes nice.

little brother is working the potion shop! wheatley and teya and senna buy healing potions. senna and lil bro have a pleasent conversation! (awww) parsley trades in his armor for lighter armor so he can fly. senna gets a new shield.

time for the trial! our tokens turn blue for our team pog. theres also yellow and purple teams. we have spectators pog! i quick cast guidance on teya before the fight starts and teya also gives herself temp hit points.

we fight some clockwork humanoids! 3 of them! wheatley goes first, gets behind us, and shoots at them out of the way. parsley uses his handaxe but misses. F.

teya firebolts! crit! his gears start glowing and he struggles to move but he recovers. senna stabs the same one but the damage is reduced! hmmm stabbing no working. teya gets shot with an arrow! frick. senna gets attacked next, but the robot gets stalled! (nat 1 lol) parsley gets attacked but doesnt hit lol.

back to wheatley! misses. how. parsley laughs at him. wheatley looks betrayed. (could a moron do this?) parsley uses the handaxe again on the frozen robot. the axe is left in its neck. he cant move his head now but his body is fine.

teya forebolts the same guy. missed. F. senna got a crit with shocking grasp! he falls apart pog hes dead! senna does a small holy motion and we move on. parsley is just glad someone can hit something. wheatley gets attacked! his armor sucks so he gets shot in the leg. senna gets attacked! not even close it just misses lol.

back to wheatley! he misses. goddamn. parsley tries to javelin but misses. F. wtf guys. teya uses firebolt again! nat 1. wtf. it explodes in her face. gets knocked on her back. senna uses shocking grap again. not a strong attack but it does some damage at least.

wheatley gets attacked again. dammit. senna gets attacked again. my shield bounces him off get fucked.

wheatley throws his handaxe! FUCK stop missing please. parsley is in rage form now. he still misses. wtf. why. teya, help us. get off the ground. shes up now yay. senna attacks, same as before. he feels that one!

teya is attacked this time! they miss thankfully! senna is, naturally, attacked. bounces right off. if he could feel emotions he would be mad.

back to wheatley! maybe he should just....sit down for a while, he hit the crowd. parsley is still enraged. FINALLY he hits! not much damage but something. hard to harm them with stabbing. second attack! javelin being stabbed but misses. thanks. cmon teya, firebolt! it hits! senna once more with electric! i got it! its not doing so well but still in it.

teya is attacked again but is fine. senna is attacked AGAIN. missed again. wheatleys turn again! please. please. nope. thanks for coming pal. parsley tries to hit a robot in the head. missed. second action hits thank god. he dies thank god! teya, please kill something. firebolt. CRIT. hes a little melted but still working. senna, again same thing.

last robot attacks me naturally. misses of course. wheatley please. FINALLY he shoots him. locks up his head. parsley picks up his sword and stabs him in the neck. its dead thank god!

we walk back to where the shops are and they get their stuff back. we can short rest but that doesnt affect me since i wasnt hurt.

our team is up again! giant wooden tiger with metal claws and cannons on its back?! wheatley somehow goes first again. he hits with crossbow! senna does sacred flame. radiant damage pog. parsley cant find any weak points so he just attacks a paw. miss. tiger attacks teya! oh no! thank god it misses. teya's turn! firebolt! now its on fire and the metal ribs are exposed and gets fire damaged every turn!

wheatley! misses. sad. senna uses crossbow to show wheatley how its done. parsley misses. the tiger goes for me! bastard. he tries to pounce me but i hit it with my shield and deflect it. teya again uses firebolt. thank you teya you burned his tail.

wheatley missed. sad. parsley stabs it in the eye! its blind in 1 eye pog. tiger shoots cannons of course at parsley but senna is nearby darn. parsley gets hit! and so do i cause it explodes. but i dex save for only 2 damage. teya firebolts again. nice. tony has no more metal. ITS DEAD! back to the hub!

we short rest and senna is being gay with teya lol. we level up nice. one of the teams died to the tiger, F. including the guy parsley fucked. F the gays keep losing.

big beefy robot guy in a commanders uniform. big robot eye. hands behind his back. commander war bot! parsley tries to instant attack him! tries to fly up and stab him in the eye! barely pierces it, still works. an invisible field goes over him, a personal shield! fucker raz your goddamn cheating.

it attacks parsley! intelligence saving throw?! its eye glows and parsley takes psychic and lighting damage. wtf. senna does sacred flame. i hit thank goodness. the shield is damaged. teya hits it with chill touch! nice. also he cant heal until its teya's turn again. the shield cracks a bit. parsley! it hits! not much damage. wheatley! hits thank god!

its mad at wheatley oh no! but it cant pierce his mind! only some psychic and lighting damage. senna and the sacred flame! it hits and shatters the shield! i dab lol. teya walks up to it and smacks it. oh god no. vampiric touch. THATS A LOT OF DAMAGE! parsley! goes to stab the eye again with the handaxe. big split in the eye! still works but a little fucked up vision. wheatley! missed.

it attacks teya! nat...1....oh god. raz spares doing crit damage but its still gonna really hurt. so much psychic and lighting damage. SHES STILL ALIVE! but its a multi attack. oh god. half as much damage from this roll. shes done. SENNA TO THE RESCUE! i go up and make them drink a healing potion. shes up thank god. parsley! attacking the eye! it shatters! its blind! wheatley! missed.

robot attacks! blindly swinging at parsley! it hits. senna with the sacred flame! it hits! the robot falls to his knees! i killed him! taken back to the hub! the other team is still alive but barely.

robotic hound! tesla coils! conduit hound! well fuck. were gonna die. it attacks wheatley. fucking hell thats too much damage. parsley yeets a javelin. misses so he enters rage. teya firebolts. it hits! senna uses bless to buff the party! lets kick its ass guys. wheatley! raz tells us its not immune to psychic lol. dissonant whispers! missed but still does some damage.

dog attacks! it goes for senna! missed pog. parsley throws the handaxe. nice. frenzy. teya firebolts! nice. senna uses guiding bolt. big damage! wheatley! same attack! missed so half damage.

dog again! it lines us all up! cone of electricity! dex saving throw. only wheatley gets hit fully. fuck. wheatley is now stunned. parsley has no more rage. its attack does hit though. teya firebolts again. hits nice. senna missed the guiding bolt darn. wheatley tries to be unstunned. nope.

dog attacks me multiple times! bitch it hits. im down. help. 'werent you healing' YEAH FUCKER WERE ONLY LEVEL 5.

parsley attacks! missed. teya comes to save me yay. i use my turn to get up to straight to wheatley. gets unstunned.

dog attacks parsley and it hits. dex saving throw. lots of damage and knocked prone. frick. he can use his action to get up though. teya firebolts. hits nice. senna does 41 crit guiding bolt damage FUCK YOU. ITS HEAD EXPLODES AND WE WIN! WOOOOOOOOOO

we teleport back and level up and 500 gold! the other team died. we rest and stuff. parsley points out that everyone else is dead. (RAZ YOU BETTER NOT TRY AND MAKE US KILL EACH OTHER) teya had to be informed the other people left or died. senna offers prayers for the departed.

wheatley goes to the tavern to hang out with little brother. parsley is there for drinking. teya also gets a drink. oh no. senna helps teya pick something nice. wheatley gets up and leaves to talk to god. hes worried about lil bro :( god says he will gives him more tasks later. wheatley wants to stay with lil bro if he lives and beats the big bad. god accepts. he goes back to the tavern but hes quiet.

lil bro learns what hanging out is! awww. senna is comforting teya about death. 'arent you a necromancer?' senna is very comforting and reassures her, that people can pick what to do with their lives, and what little power she thinks she has can move entire mountains. necromancers and healers, both so close to death.

lil bro is confused about death so we explain it to him. cause of course we do. and explain a fuckin soul! a soul is a matter of perspective, senna says. and i accidentally introduced the concept of other gods lol. 'i do not like die' wheatley refuses to let him die! 'do not die as well' i fuckin love these little funky robots.

parsley is laughing cause hes a dick so wheatley explains what laughter is to lil bro. and have to explain joy. 'emotions are complicated but thats why its wonderful' says senna. wheatley will happily help explain emotions for lil bro. senna explains a smile. he will observe us organics to learn emotions. (please dont learn from parsley)

we teach him about different subspecies of organics! teya was secluded mostly lol. we talk about her brother awww. we tell him about sending stones and offer to get lil bro one to talk to wheatley when we leave. god keeps an eye on lil bro i guess.

senna offers to take teya to see her brother quick when we win. parsley cant speak hes on the ground lol. lil bro starts glitching out trying to talk about teya's bro and its very omnious. information was not allowed out. HMMM. wheatley is checking him out.

senna comforts teya and promises its gonna be ok. 'quiet fairy boy'. were all laughing at parsley now its lovely. wheatley points out that parsley is feeling anger so we have to explain it. now we have to explain what 'kill' is. were gonna kill parsley i stg. and now hes feeling fear for the first time. he hides behind wheatley cause he can move now!

senna comforts lil bro that wheatley is strong and wont die, even defending him. lil bro thanks senna for protecting wheatley for him. IF ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS TO HIM ILL FUCKIN KILL YOU RAZ I SWEAR TO GOD- wheatley informs lil bro he will stay when the job is done.

teya demands answers from god, why the fuck do you know my brother? senna goes for support and parsley wants to kill god lol. wheatley and lil bro go and watch lol. accidentally floated the info to him? but why does he even have it?! why do you know it?! he scanned our minds?! to make sure we wouldnt become a liability? he also made most of those that left on purpose.

senna asks him if he truly is that afraid of that wizard. he is. wheatley walks over and says he does not want to be controlled, nor lil bro. senna nods understandingly and reassures him that shes with him. evil wizard man wants to usurp god and murder and shit. parsley shut up lol. teya just wants him not to spy in her head about her family. parsley as well hates it. senna however is fine with it. god wants to earn our trust or something.

I decided to make my campaign open world and the first thing the party does is recruit the NPC whose personality I made pure asshole on purpose so that they wouldn’t recruit her. I’m not even mad I think it’s hilarious, they really will see a child and go “is anyone gonna steal this kid???” Anyways this is Loranti (pictured right), she’s the party’s eldritch gremlin child and they love her. Caine, a player character, is on the left. She just likes watching Cas suffer.

I had to make up the design for Caine on the fly, since all I have to go off of is a picrew map token. This is surprisingly better than past sketches I’ve done. Kinda proud of myself. It’s not great, no, and I could do better with proportions, but not bad for the first time in a while I’ve drawn full body. Some of the usual culprits continue to evade me such as ruffles and shoes, but hands aren’t quite as scary anymore (thank you anatomy studies!)

if im not affecting Black microcelebs social capital, not affecting nonblacks (in general) social capital on here and social capital means absolutely nothing to all parties names, then why are they upset about how i learned to blog to combat their abuse by proxy campaigns? why they gotta gang up on me “on fucking tumblr of all places”? where is their energy for actually antiBlack nonblack ppl on here? The Yellow Dress - A Complete List of Fears Ages 5​-​28 (aprox)

Keep us sheltered from the darkness, and the things that lurk outside And this growing sense of distance that keeps building in my mind

Okay Nessie, for those who are not familiar, is from a 5e campaign based on Out of the Abyss, which involves being trapped in the bad scary Underdark and also trying to stop the bad scary Demon Lords who have appeared on the material plane where they are very much not supposed to be. It involves a lot of wisdom saves and madness levels. Nessie, at time of last appearance, had the second-highest madness level in the party <3

The most applicable fear in the list is puppets - by the end she was being influenced by at least 3.5 daedric princes and 2 demon lords, and she had never really liked puppets to begin with :P However, she was also the token party slut, and was in relationships with both the Orc warlord who originally ran the castle we ended up making our base in, and our party fighter's heavily traumatized younger sister. So as she got closer to both of them, the fear of losing a loved one became ever more relevant.

And then the murder god she worshipped got impatient and did kill Lucy (the fighter's sister [and last known surviving family member]), Nessie bailed on the entire party and fled to the surface, and has not been heard from since <3

I ended up playing as one of the beloved npcs, a mousefolk bard named Kaylee for the rest of the campaign! Since our current pf2e game is an indirect sequel to that campaign, there's a chance that Nessie shows up as an npc a some point and I'm very excited

The Tempest and The Festival (session 6)

Welcome back to the Merano campaign!  All character names are in bold, spells are in italics.  Party members are tagged “merano: [character name]”.  Locations visited (cities, specific establishments) are tagged “location: [NAME]”.  Important npcs are tagged "npc: name." All posts for this campaign are tagged “campaign: merano”.

INTRODUCTION:

After leaving Dire, the party is headed Northeast up the Starfire River to the city of Dire. They are plagued with nightmares and wake rattled. Calypso wakes up first and notices that the ship from the night before has gotten closer. Delphie can see that the token they've been carrying with them is glowing with magic. The party scrambles to hide it, but it isn't before long that the large merchant ship, Ceretal's Fang is abreast of The Dapper and being boarded, claiming to investigate stolen goods. Delphie uses Major Image to disguise the party. Captain Niko Kellne and her associate, the Storm Warden board and keep the crew in line. Kellne takes a few of her own crew to come and help her inspect the hold, the Storm Warden staying on the deck to keep an eye on everyone. The party tries and fails to act natural. Fail enough that, the Storm Warden notices, and combat begins.

IT'S TIME FOR COMBAT ON THE DECK OF THE DAPPER

COMBAT BEGINS, with the party still disguised in their illusions

Marasmius goes for it with a Command spell, Hugo at the ready with a Silence in case that doesn’t work.

Calypso enters their rage and has a good first round.  The start of the fight is mostly people trying to get into position for what’s to come.

The Storm Warden unleashes a massive radiant lightning attack against Hugo, dealing massive damage.  Delphie narrowly avoids being downed with this same attack when he turns his attention towards her.

Delphie uses Control Water to punch a hole in the hull of his ship, this forces him to either stay and let his ship sink or flee and help his crew in the next three rounds.

Delphie attempts to use the Dreamspire Powder that Hypnos gave her previously twice, but neither attempt is successful.

Hugo gets in a hit against the Storm Warden with a Burning Hands.

Calypso and Marasmius team-up, Marasmius casting Spirit Guardians and Calypso grappling him to keep him in the spell and taking damage from it, all of this with Hugo’s Silence up.

The fight taking a turn for the worse, and his ship sinking, the Storm Warden calls for Captain Kellne and her men to come back and flee back to their ship.

The party gets in attacks of opportunity against Captain Kellne as she flees The Dapper.

The crew springs back into motion, getting The Dapper as far away from Ceretal’s Fang as possible, with the party headed back below decks.

The Virasti token is lying abandoned on the floor where Captain Kellne must have dropped it in her haste to escape.

Dante slams the doors to the hold shut behind them and gives an apologetic explanation that it’s captain’s orders and they’ll let them out at Feolinn.

Delphie uses the Sending bracelet to contact Hypnos, asking for advice on what to do next, asking, “Virasti medallion led them to us, we chased them off, but now are being forced to hide in the hull, Feolinn is near, what now?”  Hypnos responds, “Ditch it, noted planar activity last night in your direction, I’ll ask Crescenzo.”

Delphie tosses it out of a porthole with Mage Hand.

The party decides to settle down, Hugo rearranges the boxes to say ‘sorry.’  Calypso starts whittling.

Delphie is a little upset that the dreamspire powder didn’t work, “The dreamspire powder didn’t work, I feel like it kinda wasted it.”  Marasmius reassures her, suggesting that, “Well maybe he’s so powerful he doesn’t need to breathe.”

Hugo, still mad about getting smited by the guy, starts going off about how he has a dumb face and of course it wouldn’t work on his stupid nose, which Hugo isn’t willing to budge on

Marasmius calmly insists that every nose is beautiful, which, well, Hugo’s still pissed, he isn’t willing to budge on this.  But Marasmius matter-of-factly insists that no, the Storm Warden is hot, he’s always scoping out the hotties.

Delphie makes some chamomile tea and Hugo makes a blanket nest, both of them inviting the others to settle down for the night.

The Dapper hits Feolinn first thing in the morning, with Calypso being the first one up, and makes sure to wake everyone else up.

Captain Monpress kicks them out the moment that they’re docked, warning them that he never wants to see their faces again, he also doesn’t want the scrutiny of having gotten into a fight with the guild, if they don’t say anything, he won’t say anything.  Dante tries to apologize and wish them well but he can’t really get a word in edgewise.

Now properly in the city of Feolinn, the party has departed in the docks at the Stars district, there isn’t much here.  This is where the city grows their waterlogged crops, there aren’t really any people here.

Trying to get their bearings, Delphie did some research before leaving to get prepared.  The city is divided up by four rivers, with a lake at the center.  The Stars where they currently are.  To the east is the Doors district, which is majority residential space.  To the west, is the Clouds, where adventurers coming from over the Cloudjumper Range like to frequent.  To the north is Upstream, a high-powered uptown district where most of the guilds have headquarters.  Keystone Island is at the center of the lake, where the seven noble families of the city leave.  The city is prone to flooding so most of the city, especially near the mouths of the rivers so those areas are all built over the water, the whole place is a mess of interconnected bridges and platforms.

They also notice, that the city seems to be preparing for the Radiant Festival, a 3-day aurora borealis, said to be what happens when the goddesses reach out across the universe and hold hands.  Everything becomes shimmery and rainbow-themed for the duration.

To ‘blend in’ the party decides to head east to the Doors to try and find a shop to get bits and bobs for festival outfits.  They find a few things but it’s not quite what they’re looking for and Marasmius is interested in upgrading his warhammer so they decide to try their luck elsewhere in the Clouds.

As the party is on its way, they notice the buzz of rumors, that the Virastis are going to announce something at the start of the festival.

The Clouds are a lot more lively and artsy, catering to traveling adventures of all stripes, from all over, and they find a weaponsmith with relative ease.

They don’t have the money for anything new, but the shop is willing to do trade-ins, Marasmius trades in his old warhammer to get a Hammer of Little Miracles with some help from Delphie.

Hugo buys an Alchemist’s Bane dagger and ends up giving it to Delphie.

Calypso trades in their axe so it can get a +1 enchantment.

And with that, the Radiant Festival is set to start in two days.

Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia Garland Burst Banners Cycle

The banners featuring Garland’s (from Final Fantasy I) Burst or BT weapon is coming soon in the Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia (DFFOO) mobile game.

The His Raging Blade (Kaiser Behemoth Raid) banner 1 features the following chars and their weapons:

Garland from Final Fantasy I - 15cp, 35cp, Ex, LD, and Burst or BT

Agrias Oaks from Final Fantasy Tactics - 15cp, 35cp, and Ex

My Agrias is fully MLB and Purple. My Freya is fully MLB but at base Ex only. I have a copy of Garland’s 15cp that’s been limit broken once. Have a copy of his 35cp that hasn’t been limit broken at all. Missing his Ex, LD, and BT.

I’ve been hearing pretty good things about Garland from Final Fantasy I (#ad), and I want his Sphere for Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII, so was interested in pulling on this banner.

Garland has an A Sphere called Break Hit Raging Attack Up:

When inflicting Break or attacking target afflicted with Break: • Raises own ATK by 2% up to 5 times, once per turn

I talk more about this on another post but I don’t have tickets anymore thanks to trying to pull for Deuce’s (from Final Fantasy Type-0) LD. So had no choice but to resort to using gems for this banner.

We do get a free first multi-draw on this banner as part of the May Faire campaign celebration. 

This gave me a gold orb and I ended up getting a dupe of Freya’s Ex and another copy of Garland’s 35cp.

Hell, yes! Super pleased to see Garland’s Ex. Now I just need his LD then I can get out of this banner. Would love to have his BT too, of course.

Yeah, this helps me further limit break the one I already have but it’s not like I don’t have the Power Stones to do that so I don’t really need this.

Argh! My pulls are so freaking bad. Look at all these dupes. Sigh. At the rate things are going, it looks like I’m gonna have to pity Garland’s LD.

Yes, finally, Garland’s LD came home! I’m glad to see this, but also kinda mad because I very nearly had to pity it.

I now have 280 G-Tokens on this banner. One more pull would have given me 300, enough to outright exchange for Garland’s LD.

Glad I was able to get Garland’s LD although I am kinda miffed that I almost had to pity it. Ended up having to spend a lot of gems.

Still, it could have been worse. At least I was able to get it. At least DFFOO actually has a pity system.

Ignis Scientia LD Banner

As part of the May Faire campaign, we get a free multi-draw on this banner. I’m missing Garland’s BT and Ignis’s LD. My Ignis is fully MLB and Purple though.

I heard some pretty good things about Ignis with his LD, especially as a Call, so I decided to toss a few tickets on this banner. Besides, I certainly wouldn’t say no to Garland since I have the rest of his kit and even got his High Armor.

Anyway, the free multi-draw gave me a gold orb. Unfortunately, all I got was a dupe of Ignis’s 15cp and his Ex. Meh. Wish that Ex had been his LD instead.

Ignis Scientia LD Banner Daily Free Single Draw

As you can see in the screenshot above, aside from the free first multi-draw, I also still have the daily free single draw. 

Could have used that on any of the currently available banners. Decided to use it on this banner. Wasn’t really expecting anything since I almost always end up with bronze trash whenever I do this. 

But hey, at least it’s free. And sometimes, very rarely, I can get a gold item. It’s usually a dupe but it’s still nice to see. 

At the moment, I can’t remember if I’ve ever been able to get an Ex or even an LD from this though. Definitely have never gotten a Burst.

Anyway, so I do the free daily single draw and I got a gold orb that quickly turned into a Burst orb. OMFG! Totally wasn’t expecting that at all.

There’s only one Burst featured here so I already knew I was getting Garland’s. Was still so freaking hyped anyway.

This is the first BT that I was able to get via the daily free draw. So freaking pleased to see this. More than makes up for the amount I had to spend to get Garland’s LD.

This right here is why I can never hate Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia. Sure, there are times wherein I get crappy draw results, or I don’t always get what I want. 

But there’s a pity system so if I use gems, I can guarantee that I’ll get what I want.

The same can’t be said for other mobile gacha games (*cough* Fate/Grand Order (FGO) *cough* and Final Fantasy Record Keeper (FFRK) *cough*). 

Also, this game is so freaking generous. We get lots of free pulls. We get lots of tickets and gems. The rates seem pretty good too, especially when compared to other games.

Ignis Scientia LD Banner Tickets Pulls Results

After getting Garland’s BT, I threw the 74 tickets I had on hand on this banner for Ignis’s LD. Unfortunately, it didn’t show up. Got mostly crap. 

Even got pulls like the one you can see in the screenshot below, which is complete and utter trash. It sucks, but can’t be too mad since I did just get Garland’s BT.

Garland from Final Fantasy I

When I got Garland’s LD, I fully MLB’d his 15cp, 35cp, Ex, and LD. Purpled his Ex and equipped it to him. Also bought his Bloom Stone and High Armor. Finished all of his Boards.

He’s equipped with 3 of Vayne Carudas Solidor’s (from Final Fantasy XII) Breaking Power (RF) A Sphere:

When attacking target afflicted with Break: • Increases BRV damage dealt by 4%

I’ve started farming for his Artifacts in the His Raging Blade (Kaiser Behemoth Raid) co-op. 

Don’t remember anymore where I got it, but was surprised to see that I actually already have 1 perfect Art for him - 1 ATK 108 with He Who Thirsts for Strife Boost★★ (Raises MAX BRV, ATK by 5% while Soul of Chaos buff active). 

At least I just need to get 2 more then I can be done with this. Easier said than done though. Artifact farming can be such a pain.

Anyway, now that I have Garland’s Burst, I max leveled it then equipped it to him. Now I just need 2 more of his perfect Arts to complete him.

Update: So far, I’ve been able to get 2 ATK 108 with He Who Thirsts for Strife Boost★, both of which costs 15cp. Meh. At least Garland has no trouble equipping these since he has his Burst and High Armor.

Update 2: Finally got my second perfect Artifact for Garland. Just need 1 more. They all have high CP cost though, but it’s fine as long as I’m able to equip them all to Garland. 

Don’t want to bother farming for lower CP Arts. Just really, really hope I can get the last Artifact soon because I’m so sick of this co-op. It’s such a drag. Takes for-freaking-ever before the fight ends.

Update 3: After what feels like forever, at long last, I finally managed to get the third 108/He Who Thirsts for Strife Boost★★ Artifact for Garland. And it even costs 8 CP only. Hell, yes!

So glad I can finally be over and done with this co-op. Was so sick and tired of it because it was so long. It was such a waste of triple item books. 

I’ve long since been done with the limited missions that came with this raid, but I kept on doing the co-op anyway so I could farm for Garland’s Arts.

Was also farming Arts for the other chars featured on this event like Agrias. Wasn’t able to get triple of their perfect Arts but, eh, it’s fine. Really don’t want to do this anymore. 

Besides, it’s not like I’ll be using these chars in Lufenia quests anyway, at least not right now when they’ve been heavily powercrept and they don’t even have their LD weapons yet.

I know I’ve been in fandom spaces on this site too long when I can predict with probably 100% accuracy how people would react to the characters in my dnd campaigns if they were popular podcasts or shows or something

Curse of Strahd dump #01. This is apparently the most images I can fit in one post, I guess! A lot of these were portraits used for tokens. I’ve gone and labeled some of them, because some of them include NPCs in the base game, and it’s always fun to see people’s taken on those! The height charts were made because my party kept stuffing NPCs into a bag of holding.

My party played the game in a very... anime/Neverwinter Nights kind of way, where they tried to gather as many friendly major NPCs as they could into a tiny army to fight Strahd. The first height chart shown is pretty much every major NPC they managed to befriend and convince to join them. And yes, they would sometimes put every single one of them in the same room at the same time. Playing like 16 people at once is hard.

Other fun Barovia facts beneath the read more (warning: may contain spoilers)

- I allowed my players to recruit the Abbot after he wound up being pretty popular with them. His story diverged a lot from RAW, probably because I changed the mongrelfolk from “ha ha look at these inbred crazy people” to “scared adventurers/Barovians sell their body parts to the Abbot in an attempt to fix diseases/bring their loved ones back to life, go mad in the process, and the Abbot tries to care for them after.”

- Rahadin was another character that wound up being popular with my players, enough that they captured him and want to work to redeem him. They took him outside the mists with them. With Strahd's death and nothing else to live for, the party convinced him to work for Ireena. Also he's 7 feet tall because Kelogul's player told me he always imagined him "being taller than Kelogul," who is a 6'6" half orc. so now there is a monstrous blue fuckin' elf who really likes cooking walking around with them.

- Speaking of, the dusk elves in general were based more off the shadar-kai than wood elves in RAW because, c'mon, why wouldn't they be? Also I changed their coloration to more dusk-themed. It made them stand out a bit more and feel unique in the sea of D&D elves.

- The party will be continuing on adventures outside of the mists with their gaggle of NPCs. They really want to hit level 20. There's still a few plot hooks they can explore -- most notably, Escher and Patrina both lived through the campaign.

- The players treated the game like a Bioware game and all wound up romancing an NPC. Ellerian wound up with the former mongrelfolk, Marzena; Kelogul wound up with the moon-themed elf, Ivalice; Miharu wound up with Gertruda; and Arialoth wound up with... Rictavio/Rudolph van Richten. Nobody understands what she sees in him, but the player seems happy so I ain't here to judge. Three of the players all wanted to romance Ireena, apparently, but none of them wanted to compete with each other and they wound up finding other options.

- Ireena's ending was changed as well, because I thought it was fucked up that she gets literally spirited away by Sergei's ghost and doesn't have much of her own agency as an individual. She has also made it out of Barovia, and will get to live a full, uncursed life.

- Kelogul got his arm ripped off by Strahd in the final battle. After the final battle, the group went on a 'Barovian Bar Crawl' (note: there's like, two bars in the entirety of Barovia) and Kelogul challenged Ireena to a drinking contest. Rahadin took her place after she started getting fucked up from it, and between the two of them they downed like, 10 bottles of moonshine. Rahadin won because Kelogul got so drunk literally the next drink would have killed him. Anyway the next day -- with a massive hangover -- Kelogul got his leg ripped off by a giant snake beast hiding in Lake Zarovich, and this basically summarizes the feel of the entire campaign.

- The party desperately wanted to be friends with Neferon, the arcanaloth up in Amber Temple, but pissed him off by releasing a bunch of dark powers. Exethanter also wound up being extremely popular.

DARK SKIN GIRLS DESERVE A BIGGER SPOT IN HOLLYWOOD

Representation in media is important, it helps shape the incoming generation by representing different races, sexualities, gender, etc. In recent years, there’s been an influx of diversity and inclusiveness in film and tv such as Moonlight that explores homosexuality within the black community.

However, when it comes to the representation of black girls, specifically dark skin, it’s a fight that dark skin girls have been fighting since the invention of TVs. To see a black girl darker than a paper bag was rare then and is still rare now. It’s crazy to think that in the 90s and 2000s there was more dark skin representation for teenage girls than there is now, the age that embraces “diversity” so much. Diversity to Hollywood has always just been a few token characters that fit into a box to appease the audience. If it’s not the supportive best friend character than its the comedic relief.

Even during the age when black media was booming, proper representation was as rare as spotting a politician live up to their campaign promises. Yes, we had our Ashley Banks and Moesha but with every Moesha came a caricature of a loud angry bitter dark skin woman. An example of this is the contrast between Pam and Gina on Martin, where Gina was shown to be silly, sweet, and beautiful but Pam was the loud, bitter, and undesirable best friend. Or take The Proud Family for an example, Penny Prouds best friend Dijonay is showcased to be loud, annoying, and always “doing too much”. Are you starting to see the problem? 

Nowadays, “mixed” is the new black. The more racially ambiguous the girl looks the better because shows can get away with having just enough diversity to shut us up. I watch these shows and movies and I think, “Is this who they think represents us?”. Personally, we need to abolish the one-drop rule because casting directors take that as a way to choose girls with just a little bit of black to represent us. 

We deserve more smart girls like Ashley, determined girls like Isis, and bougie girls like Toni. Nevertheless, there’s been projects that have been released recently that showcased the complexity that is the dark skin girl.

Characters like Coco Conners from Dear White People that shows audiences the difficulty it is succeeding as a dark skin in predominantly white institutions, and Selah Summers from Selah and the Spades showing us that not every character is 100% good or 100% bad. In Selah and the Spades, we get to see Selah justify the decisions she makes to uphold the reputation within their community. As I watched the film, I was mad at her in some scenes but understood where she came from because I was able to see myself in her. Should I repeat that? I WAS ABLE TO SEE MYSELF, IN HER! 

That’s why dark skin representation in film and tv is important, we’re able to identify with the characters we see. It’s been 20 years since the release of Bring It On, and the impact that the Clovers and Isis have in the black community is still rampant today. It’s been 25 years since the release of Clueless, and girls still admire and dress up as Dionne for Halloween. It’s time for Hollywood to wake up because the times of them getting by with stuff like this has reached its expiration date.

Nowadays, people advocate for dark skin representation in shows that don’t have it like Euphoria, Grownish, and so much more. Luckily there are creators like Issa Rae, who presents black women in a way that is real, with their own flaws, relationships, and struggles. Shows like Pose, are able to tell audiences that dark skin women are allowed to occupy spaces that is the LGBT+ community by presenting real fleshed out stories that people can relate to.

It's clear as day that Hollywood still has a lot of steps to take in order to bring true diversity and inclusivity in media. We're proud of the dark skin representation we have as of now, but there can always be more, there can always be an improvement. Dark skin representation shouldn't end when there needs to be a placeholder as a mother, therapist, or best friend.  We exist past the limitations they give us and until Hollywood wakes up and realizes that, then the fight for dark skin representation is far from over.

I'm not really interested in engaging with some rando who thinks they deserve my time or energy just because they're mad enough at me.

I do, however, want to be very clear here on where I stand with these issues & the way I believe these things should be handled- not for the sake of my reputation (which honestly, who gives a shit)- but because I know there are people looking up to me & defending me over this stuff, and I want my example to be a decent one.

So, hi!

To my knowledge, the "complaints against black people" referenced here are against three specific harassers who happen to be black; not for anything actually related to black issues, but for the fact that these three people have been engaging in, encouraging, and leading a harassment campaign against me and several other prominent transmascs (along with a string of other trans people, black people, native american people, etc.) for the better part of a year now.

I absolutely understand that white people will commonly weaponize their whiteness to frame black people unfairly as aggressors, in order to provoke violence against them.

I have made every effort, on my part, to consider the situation carefully and ensure I'm not making any unfair accusations. I have chosen the names I've named because they've targeted me most consistently, and have been the source of the bulk of the violent comments and anons I've received over this.

If anyone believes the complaints I've raised against these three (witches-ofcolor, visibilityofcolor, and bifey) are unfair, I think that's valid. I don't care if people dislike me, block me, etc.; you don't owe me space in your life. I don't owe you mine.

I've just asked that folks look into the situation themselves to form their own opinions. I also insist that people do not attempt to contact any of these people on my behalf (or, preferably, at all).

I also want to point out that their harassment has not by any means targeted me exclusively, and most of what I've talked about wrt the situation has been their harassment of others.

The original callout post I am being accused of these things for defending is about a Mestizo trans man. At least two of the people they've lumped into this specific situation are also black. Another is mixed. Witches-ofcolor and visibilityofcolor (who regularly reblog each other's relevant posts in support) have routinely attempted to erase or outright deny these people's races, from referring to some of them as "white" regardless of their actual race/ethnicity, to deeming them "white-aligned" for being defended by a few white people, to calling one "oreo"- i.e., a racist slur.

I'm not here to tokenize people; I don't think it's fair to boil an argument down to "how oppressed is your side?". I point these things out because I think it's important that we acknowledge the trend here of questioning, erasing, and denying people of color's identities in order to make their "side" seem more legitimate. I don't think anyone gets to be the authority on what someone else's race "actually" is, especially not based on, y'know, internet drama.

That said:

If I have done or said something racist, please tell me. If I have attributed actions to a group unfairly, please tell me. If you feel I am racist, I would agree that being white makes me uniquely prone to racism- and please tell me what I'm doing wrong, and what is making you uncomfortable. Please be specific. Please include examples, to the best of your ability.

If I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I can't fix it; and I would very much like to avoid hurting anyone. I would very much like to continue working to unlearn racism, and to do my best to be an ally and accomplice to people of color. And I would like to undo any harm I've already caused, to the best of my ability.

I am also thinking for myself- and that means I am identifying when I believe criticism is being made in bad faith. I approach this with critical thought because I think it's important that I learn and understand for myself what racism looks like, how it works, and how to deconstruct (or at minimum, avoid supporting) it. Relying on the word of people of color without ever actually doing the work to understand it means that I will forever be relying on their emotional labor; and I don't think that's fair, or helpful.

Thinking critically, apologizing when I turn out to be wrong, and working to do better is about the best I or anyone else can do. You don't have to be cool with every conclusion I come to, but I think it's fair to ask that people look into things themselves and avoid sending harassment, spreading rumors, or making public threats of violence.
