Ever wondered where Sam Reid vanishes to between filming and media appearances?
He's farming.
Apparently, he goes home to his family's cattle station in rural NSW, where he spends his time doing animal husbandry, regenerative farming and manual labour around the property.
Tumblr media
After working the farm, I wonder if jumping back into filming in Prague was a shock?
It must feel intense to transition between such extremely different lifestyles, schedules, skillsets, knowledge bases etc, etc. It's huge, but it sounds like he looks forward to going home between seasons. Gives him time to reset and ground.
I also wonder if he ever invites his co-stars back to visit the farm? I bet Jacob would love it!

FALLING
Tumblr media
A/N: Sooo, I never actually wrote anything like this, but this one pretty much wrote itself randomly in my brain and I kinda liked it! So I appreciate any feedback I can get and I really hope you guys enjoy it :)
(Also english is not my first language. I did check it but something may not be quite right )
Next parts: Part 2 - PROMISES Part 3 - US
She smelled like the sun. Whether this is a real thing or not, Y/N didn’t care. Right now, buried under and completely surrounded by her, Y/N would vow on whatever entity really existed that Alexia smelled like the sun.
It wasn’t always the case. Before, Alexia smelled like comfort, maybe even a little bit like being under the covers, a mug of hot chocolate between her hands while the rain poured outside. Now everything changed. Now she smelled like summer, like the water wetting your feet right on the edge on the sand on a hot day spent on the beach.
The in-between of then and now, and even the before that, if Y/N was being honest, was a rollercoaster of joy, happiness, heartbreak, and sadness. Falling for Alexia was far too easy and almost a habit for her, she had been doing that for years now.
Y/N first fell in awe of Alexia when she watched her play her first u-17 Euros, back in 2010, when she was just fifteen. Even when the Young Lionesses didn’t go very far, Y/N managed to convince her parents that they absolutely had to stay for the whole tournament.
Alexia was still a wide-eyed teenager, shy to give interviews and speak up, but so confident and skilled in the pitch that Y/N could not helped but to feel in absolute awe. It wasn’t even a question that the midfielder would be a great player and it wasn’t even a question that Y/N would start to keep up with her career the best she could, she would even use the poor excuse that the shared their position when her friends bugged her too much about it.
Y/N first feel in admiration with Alexia when she played against her during the 2012 u-19 Euros. Despite being only fifteen, Y/N was called up when someone got injured and even made the line-up for the game against Spain.
Ninety brutal minutes later that resulted in England being eliminated, Alexia made sure to speak and praise every single one of her opponents. That was the first time they ever spoke. Y/N wasn’t even sure if Alexia remembered that, but the praise the older girl gave her and the sheer amount of respect she was given made her admire Alexia as a player on a whole new level.
The “See you in a Champions League game.” that the older girl said goodbye with echoed in her head for years, until the moment she signed with Arsenal as her first professional contract a couple of years later. Y/N really hoped to play against Alexia again.
Y/N first fell in respect with Alexia in Budapest, during the Champions League final in 2019. Despite the overwhelming loss from the start, she watched as Alexia gave her blood on the pitch. One of the most agonizing games Y/N had ever watched, being able to even taste the desperation while surrounded by thousands of culés ins the stands.
She watched the absolute heartbreak the team faced, the broken stares as they watched Lyon lift the Champions League cup again. She watched as the twenty-five years old fourth captain picked her teammates up, reassured them and listened to them. She watched the midfield swallow her own despair and angst to take care of her teammates, as a captain and leader would. Y/N could help but to respect the Catalonian as player, as person. Not everybody can do that.
Y/N first fell in fondness with Alexia when she was the first to make her feel at home in Barcelona. Leaving Arsenal and home behind was terrifying, even if Lucy and Keira were in Barcelona too. It’s a new city, a new culture, a new language, new teammates, and a new sense of self.
Arriving and settling in Barcelona was easy, but fitting in and becoming a part of the team was much harder. Spending so many countless evenings and night trying to learn the language that Y/N began to neglect herself a little bit seemed like a small price to pay to be in the team. It wasn’t until Alexia herself asked to speak to you, realizing that you were unconsciously closing yourself off until you were “ready” that you realized what you were doing. Upon seeing the realization in your eyes and knowing that her mission was complete, the older woman slipped a bar of your favourite chocolate over and left with a squeeze on your shoulder.
After that, it wasn’t long until you were a part of the very chaotic Barcelona family. By the time that the Winter Break arrived, the team had settled in a very nice post-practice routine. On Mondays, the guiris got together, helping each other fit with the country. Tuesdays and Wednesdays the whole team holed up at someone’s house, usually Irene’s, and just bonded, going from watching trashy movies to destroying each other on board games. When there were no games on the weekend, the Fridays were for going out on a very non-wild night, just to eat out and spend more time with each other.
Thursdays were sacred. You and Alexia got together, spending the whole time watching old matches, nitpicking plays and dissecting games from opponents or your favourite players. The night usually ending with you cooking, her cleaning and crashing at the bed after taking Nala for her night walk.
Y/N first fell in love with Alexia after the Winter Break, when Alexia was opening the gift, she brought from England. It was a grand thing, but the older woman’s eyes shone so brightly when the Christmas tree’s light sparked that Y/N was sure her heart skipped a beat.
Being in love with Alexia was easy. Between the team’s bonding and their own, all their weekdays were spent together, and Alexia usually dragged Y/N over for lunch with the rest of the Putellas family, where she fit right in. Her days were filled with Alexia’s presence and her nights were filled with dreams of her.
Y/N never entertained the thought of Alexia loving her back. Not she was an asshole or anything, but Alexia was different. Keeping her feelings to herself, not even telling her best friends came naturally, as she knew they would encourage her to try something, but that is just because they didn’t see Alexia like she did.
Friendships with Spaniards were very confusing at first. They were very touchy and very feely and, at first, it made Y/N a bit uneasy to be able the differ when they were hitting on each other and when they were just being friends. She finally settled in taking everything as a friendship moment if she wasn’t told otherwise and left at that.
On a Thursday, instead of watching a game like their usual, Alexia wanted to go dancing. They got ready at arrived at the Sala Apollo when it was already packed, heading to the bar, and having a couple of drinks before the older woman dragged them both to the dance floor. The closeness and intimacy of dancing with each other came easily for them. Letting the heavy bass of reggaeton guide their moves and being pressed together was almost as natural as cuddling on the couch after a movie.
It wasn’t until Alexia’s hands began to wonder that Y/N though better about the whole night. When the older woman’s lips found a spot on her neck and her hands found their place on her hips after squeezing her ass, Y/N was gone. Turning around and kissing Alexia, they were locked in a much wilder dance at that point. Not staying too long after that was natural, as it was sharing a bed of a whole different manner.
Y/N first fell in heartbreak with Alexia when she called their night a mistake. Waking up the next day, surrounded of filled with the midfielder, Y/N smiled and lost herself on the skin of Alexia’s back being hit by sun. Having coffee turned sour on her mouth after Alexia’s words and feeling has heart break on her chest was hard enough, but she could let the older woman know the damage her words had done, she loved her too much for that.
Leaving Alexia’s house that day was one of the easiest and hardest things Y/N had ever done. It was easy because she desperately needed to leave, she needed to let the tears stream down her cheeks away from the other woman’s praying gaze. It was hard because it closed the door on any possibility of the words being a mistake themselves. After promising Alexia, and lying through her teeth, that everything was okay, Y/N left.
People say grieve has five stages. Y/N was no expert, but she was pretty sure that whoever was supposed to go through them was the person grieving, so she didn’t quite understand Alexia’s sudden avoidance. The captain found new teammates to do all the training exercises together, spoke to her only when necessary and cancelled all Their Thursdays for the past few weeks.
A part of her told herself that maybe Alexia felt guilty, maybe she wanted to take the word Mistake back. That part was very strong, it was pulsating, it gave her hope. That part told her to not give up and just give her part.
Y/N arrived just in time on the locker room to overhear Alexia answering a question about a date. Her latest one. On a Thursday. She couldn’t pay a lot of attention to the midfielder answer without had eyes tearing up, so she tried to block the conversation as much as she could, and it was going pretty damn well until she lied to her teeth once again when someone asked if she didn’t mind that the dates where always on a Thursday.
The called up to represent the Lionesses came as a blessing, giving her a break from the club. It was much easier to be her usual self, joke around with her teammates and going on a full-blown prank war against Georgia when she could pretend Alexia didn’t exist. It was also much easing swallowing down her hopes and downloading Tinder when she was sure Alexia would not pop-up on her screen.
Swiping left on all the women that the app showed her was unconscious. Y/N didn’t even realize she was doing that until Leah caught her with the app opened and started to swipe with her. When the captain asked for the billionth time what was wrong with the last woman, the only answer she had to give was that none of them were her. That prompted her to tell her best friend everything. After convincing Leah to not do something stupid, the captain just told you not to worry and that she would find you the perfect date.
With the time with the national team up, Y/N flew back to Barcelona, smiling as the she sees the city lighting up against the night sky. She barely has time to settle back before Leah texts her that she found her a great date and saying that they will both fly out for the Champions League match in a couple of weeks.
Between trying to find out more information on Leah’s mysterious friend and the sting that came whenever Alexia promptly ignored her, Y/N days passed slowly. It’s easy to distract herself on the days that are occupied by the team, but Thursdays were the worst. The hurt that came the being subbed out of Alexia’s life was just more prominent on these days and Y/N didn’t quite know what to do about it.
The Champions League finally came and with it, Leah and her friend being in town. The date was going to happen the day before the match and Y/N wasn’t sure whether the anxious feeling she had were for the match or for the date.
Getting ready was almost automatic. A nice short black dress paired up with a light makeup as they would go to dinner at a nice restaurant that Y/N absolutely loved. Waiting for the time to go out, she turned the TV on started watching and old match, absently minded remembering that it was a Thursday. Not that any of that mattered anymore.
The doorbell rang just as Ronaldinho scored a goal, making her tear her eyes away from the game. Y/N walk to the door in confusion, not expecting anyone today. The team was doing their own Thursday thing and Leah was out with Lucy and Keira, leaving literally no one to be at her doorstep at almost eight.
Hazel eyes greeted her upon opening the door. Alexia stood in front of her, in her comfiest hoodie and sweatpants, the beanie tucked in her head, cheeks rosy from the wind. Her gaze, holding hope and a thousand secrets, wandered through you figure, before settling back in your own eyes.
“I was hoping we could have our usual Thursday? I have a lot that I need to say to you.”

just a silly crush (not) pt.1
pairing: daniel ricciardo x childhood friend-brabham!reader ; lewis hamilton x reader (implied, platonic relationship)
summary: even after two decade of constant battle with his own silly first love slash crush and manage to almost win the fight, you're still the one who manage to knock the breath out of him. and yet, here you are, still oblivious to his feeling.
this is set in 2021, so papaya daniel :D.
warning: unedited and rushed work (I GOT INSPIRED AFTER TWO CANS OF REDBULL RAAAAAAHHHH), harsh words, childhood trauma (kinda), slowburn (we're talking about 20 years of pining from danny)
Tumblr media
"c'mon danny, you never say no to a good party!" lando whines as he follow the irritated daniel around like a puppy.
the older man let out a sigh before continuing what he left behind; wiping his helmet. lando stomp his feet once–then let out an exageratted sigh as he sat down beside him.
"just leave your helmet and go out with us!" he insisted.
"lando, no." he sternly said.
"you never say no to a party! especially monaco party."
its true, daniel would never refuse an invitation to a party. in fact, most of the time he would be the one who send out the invitation to everyone on grid. but it's different. today is different.
"it is (y/n) brabham we talked about dan! don't you want to go to her dope party?" lando reason.
if only you knew that is the reason why i refuse to go, lando. daniel thought. "so? why do i have to come along?" he asked, finally facing the young brit.
"uhhh, because it is y/n? she's like a hot topic and the it girl of the paddock right now? daughter of david-fucking-brabham? and maybe i want to know her more?" he answer as if the answer he said is the most obvious answer.
"and i heard from max that she is your friend! so maybe you can-"
"was." daniel stop him.
"damn, okay. she was your friend, whatever. and maybe you can introduce me to her." lando scoff.
your name is still a sour topic to him, leaving a bad taste in his mouth and saying that word killing him inside. yet, he doesn't have the courage to elaborate more to the poor confused lando norris.
(y/n) brabham, the famous australian model turn to actress and daughter of david brabham–yes the david brabham, become the hot flaming topic on the grid after her unexpected debut on the paddock at bahrain gp as lewis hamilton's plus one.
while other drivers didn't think about it a lot, daniel feel like he's about to passed out right then when he saw y/n walking beside lewis, in black mercedes polo—matching with the man beside her–while laughing and waving at the media crew.
maybe because she was also known for her controversial on stating her dislike over the motorsport that his father (and his family) was famously known for. it was not her cup of tea, she said back in her 2019 famous vogue interview.
and maybe because his father insisted on pushing it to her and her younger sibling. and of course their famous leaked dispute over the death of brabham motor company. either way, (y/n) and formula one has never seen in the same sentences. it is just an unwritten and unspoken rule at this point.
max–being the only person who knows about daniel's pathetic one-sided first love– was there to hold daniel's body, giving the poor man some reassuring pats on the back. "mate, if i were (y/n) i would also choose lewis." he said, and daniel swear he's about to knock the blue eyed dutchmen out.
although lewis officialy stated that you were just his friend and fellow ambassador for tommy hilfiger on interview for a few times now, daniel can't help but to get jealous at the 7 times world champion.
because of course you would show up as lewis hamilton's plus one rather than his, despite your history. and after many attempts of invitation and bribery that failed, he just stop asking.
"danny, i hate loud noises and i know how loud those cars are. and also, you know how i feel about the sport"
loud noises his ass.
lando leaning in closer now, shoulder touching his as he stare at the older men with those disgusting puppy eyes. daniel push the younger men on the forehead, as he shake his head.
"oh c'mon now! don't make me call for reinforcement to get you out of here!" lando said as he grab his phone from the back pocket of his jeans, and typing furiously.
"what reinforcement?" daniel asked, eyebrow raised in question.
not even a minute later daniel's motorhome door open, then, enter max verstappen along with carlos sainz and charles leclerc.
"that." lando simply stated as he point to the trio.
max watch in amusement, folding his hand in front of his chest.
"get 'em boys." he said.
"wha-"
"sorry cabrón, we have to get you outta here." carlos said as he walk to his direction, holding his left arm.
"what he said." charles said, grinning as he hold the opposite arm.
"seriously? you're gonna drag me out of my own place?" he asked as he forced to stand up from his seat, not even resisting because god knows how strong these two people are. especially the spaniard.
"yep."
"yeah, pretty much."
"uh-huh."
lando, carlos, and charles said at the same time.
daniel then turn his gaze to the dutch, annoyed at how his smirk seems to speak a thousand words despite being the most silent out of four.
"i expect these three gremlins to be the one who did this to me, but you?" he said, eyes glaring at the dutchmen.
"well, beat me for wanting a good source of entertainment for free, ricciardo." max said, shrugging his shoulders.
"i am going to kill you all, with my own hands."
Tumblr media
he already lost lando, carlos, and charles the second they enters the club and god knows where max and kelly are. the lovebird seems to be touchy even before entering the club and now danny needs a glass–or two, of the strongest liquor they legally able to serve.
the–clearly exclusive–club where your party was held is amazing to say the least. it would have been a big fat lie if danny said he was not impressed by the place. he walk through the sea of human, heading straight to the bar as he scan the room.
"oh?" a familiar voice interrupt his train of thoughts as he turn his head to the source.
"they did manage to drag you out of your fortress, i thought carlos was joking. huh, impressive." you said, occupying the empty seat beside him.
"that, they did." is the only response he said as he shot you a thin smile.
"you look good, ricciardo." you smile at him, squeezing his shoulder in friendly manner.
"and so are you, brabham." another dry response from him.
"ugh please, i want to get married just so i can get rid of that cursed last name." you said, rolling your eyes. god you do hate your last name.
"right." he coldly stated.
you nod your head as you brought the martini glass close to your mouth. ah, he's mad at you still, you thought. and he have every right to do so. showing up at the paddock out of nowhere after rejecting his invitations since 2012, without telling him first, was a jerk move.
so, you did the right thing you know.
"sorry about bahrain. i- it was for work purpose." you said, facing him with guilty eyes. you knew this would hurt him.
"its alright, y/n." he answer, refusing to face you because–oh god you look and smell so good and he didn't want to let his wall down. and he knew if he face you, he won't be able to stay mad at you. you are his kryptonite after all, always have been. but tonight he want be strong. he want to be pissed at you.
"well, enjoy the party i guess. and thanks for coming." you chimed, sliding out from the seat as you rub his shoulder.
daniel's fast reflex is both curse and blessing for him. and boy do he feel like it was a curse. because before even his mind processing what is happening when her hand touch his shoulder, his hand was already firm on your wrist, refusing to let go.
you watch him with a mixed of both puzzled and surprised look.
"danny? you need something?" you asked.
his mouth agape, seems to be clueless and surprised at how fast his hand reacted. damn his good reflex.
"oh–um. no, sorry." he managed to say as words seems to be tied inside his throat, unwiling to spilled out as he stare at you blankly.
"oh-kay?" you said.
he let go of your wrist, as if your skin burn him. as if your skin a flaming fire. "sorry."
you open your mouth to say something, but-
"daniel!" both you and daniel whip your head to the sound.
max is waving his hand at him while kelly was nowhere to be seen. but from the goofy smile, max's disheveled hair, and his flushed cheeks, danny might have some ideas about her whereabout.
"i thought you run away or something." the blue eyed dutchmen said as he approach his former teammate with a smile.
"speak for yourself max, i've been here all the time. where have you been?" daniel said, amused look on his face.
"oh! just–uh–dancing with kelly." he speak, trying to clear his throat.
you let out a giggle which causing max to raised an eyebrow at you. that cause you to start laughing.
"uhh, what so funny y/n?" he asked.
daniel roll his eyes as he pointed max's neck and collarbone. "seems like a good dance, look at you all flushed and littered with lipstick stains."
max turned pale as he hide his neck with his hand, immediately buttoning his shirt up to hide the evidence.
"i'm–ahaha–i'm not... you know what? i'll just go..." he said, quickly turn his heels to walk away from the embarrassing situation he's in.
both you and daniel watch as max trying his best to hide himself in the crowds. and when he is out of sight, daniel let out a holler.
"that little rascal," he said, downing his whiskey "oh right, you were about to say something. what is it?" he asked, turning his body to fully face you now. thanks to max, daniel feel a little more calm now.
you give him a smile, shaking your head. "i forgot about it," you simply said with a shrug "it was nice talking to you daniel, really. i have to go and greet another guest now and um–sorry, again. hope we're cool now?" you said, offering a hand for him to shake.
daniel stare at your awaiting hand, finally giving you that sunshine smile before taking your hand in his, shaking it. "we're cool, brabham," he said "only if you come to spa as my plus one."
"oh... but–i have a catwalk on the race day." you said, opening your calendar app on your phone.
"hmm, zandvoort then?"
"photoshoots."
"alright. monza?"
"ah another, photoshoots."
"oh."
"but i can come. the photoshoot will be held in monaco anyways, so it's not that far." you said, showing him your–packed to the year end–schedule.
"really?" daniel said, voice full of hope.
"its only fair if i come to your race since i came for lewis's," she said, smiling at him brightly. "but–"
daniel expression fell, anxiously waiting for what you have to say next.
"you have to win."
he let out the breath he's been holding on, wiping his face before chuckling.
"you have yourself a deal, brabham."
"win that race, ricciardo." you said, giving him a kiss on his cheek.
daniel's grip on your hand loosen as he gave you a warm stare, caramel colored eyes staring at your orbs with some unreadable expression.
"oh i will win this battle, brabham. just wait." he said with more of certainity in his voice now.

Plz convert me to Lestappenism? I don’t see it, but they’re both so pretty.
Have you heard of a little thing called Rivals to Lovers™? or perhaps Rivals- who-hate-each-other to Friendly Rivals(for the platonic side of things)? Because if this compels you then that's lestappen for you!
They have one of the longest running rivalries in modern F1 going all the way back to when they were competing during karting. You must be familiar with the now infamous "inchident"
"In karting, it was either me or him and that's why we hated each other at one point because very often it didn't end in the best way possible" ~ Charles
Then to the tension that was the 2019 season(Austria 2019. aka inchident 2.0 and insta unfollowgate)
“It’s hard racing otherwise we have to stay home . . . If those things are not allowed in racing, what is the point of being in F1?" ~ Max
And then to the modern day when they are doing interviews together in Vegas, and saying things like:
"I always thought that, if I would make it to F1, Charles will also make it" ~ Max
"But it's amazing. I mean I have really, really good memories. Other memories that are less good but became really good with time! You get older and you look back on moments that maybe you didn't enjoy at the time that are very funny" ~ Charles
From this (2019) → to this (2023)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's about the long history of lore in this rivalry, the highs and lows, the moments of anger and friendship, and competition. About the way two of the best drivers on the current grid came to have a mutual respect for each other.
And now in the year 2024 Max will literally die if he goes a week without praising Charles as a driver. And Charles will always make sure people know Max is an incredible talent that everyone should respect. Of course the fact that they cannot be within 6 feet of each other without yapping(this is like half the entertainment right now it's hilarious)
There is obviously a lot more to their history than this post but if you want the spark-notes version of why so many people find lestappen compelling as a rival duo, as friends, and yes as a ship, then this is why.

Daddy-Daughter Podcast 2023
Tumblr media
11 years ago, my kid's daycare surprised us by announcing that they were closing for Christmas break a day before everyone else, so I ended up with our then-four-year-old daughter, Poesy, at my office for the day.
After she got bored with coloring and playing with my office toys, I sat her down on my lap in front of my podcast mic and we recorded the greatest, all-singing episode of my podcast ever:
https://craphound.com/news/2012/12/21/happy-hols/
Thus began an annual tradition. Every year since – save one, when my mic was busted – we have recorded a podcast: I interview the kid about her favorite media, apps, books, and hobbies. Sometimes, she gives a tutorial. Then, we sing a song.
She's 15 now (!), and I still managed to drag her to the mic this weekend. We discussed her musical favorites, old (Ike and Tina singing "Proud Mary") and new (Dominic Fyke). We discuss high school, volunteering at the zoo, and the rigors of dance team. She teaches us how to drive. She runs down her favorite apps, and discusses her recent name change. And then, we sing!
https://craphound.com/news/2023/12/10/daddy-daughter-podcast-2023-edition/
This is the eleventh installment in this time-series snapshots of my kid, starting in London, then moving to LA, and every year I go back and listen to the previous recordings. It's not just a wonderful moment of nostalgia for me – it's also a powerful way to put everything into perspective. Anyone who's kept a journal (or a blog!) knows, the act of regular record-keeping, combined with regular revisiting of those records, turns the impressionistic jumble of memory into a clear picture of your life and its trajectory. We remember so poorly, but our treacherous minds fill in those omissions with whatever's going on right now, so if times are good now, we remember all times as good. If times are bad, everything seems bad.
The following year sees Poesy far more confident and even funnier – and excited about working at the zoo someday:
https://craphound.com/news/2013/12/23/christmastime-daddy-daughter-podcast-with-poesy/
At six, Poesy has learned a little French, and some naughty words for Jingle Bells (and she's got a lot more vocal control!):
https://craphound.com/news/2014/12/22/podcast-happy-xmas-guest-starring-poesy/
At seven, Poesy is living in Los Angeles and my mic is very busted, but Poesy knows all the words to Frosty and she's got the barrelhouse walkout nailed:
https://craphound.com/news/2015/12/25/podcast-happy-xmas-guest-starring-poesy-2/
We didn't manage to record the next year, so we catch up with Poesy at nine, with her English accent all but gone – but her memory for lyrics is better than ever (who knew there were so many choruses to "Deck the Halls?"). This is the first time I interviewed her, for an in-depth discussion of how to make slime (remember slime?):
https://craphound.com/news/2017/12/23/reviving-my-christmas-daddy-daughter-podcast-with-poesy/
At ten, Poesy is now watching online makeup tutorials and has lots of advice for you, and is super into squishies:
https://craphound.com/news/2018/12/24/christmas-podcast-with-poesy-2018-edition/
At eleven, Poesy's no longer willing to sing, but she has lots of information about riding horses. This is the first year that she's got her own music preferences, with half of them being contemporary artists like Billie Eilish and the other half being older acts like Queen. This is also the year that she got rid of all her old toys, books and clothes, because they were "not her style":
https://craphound.com/podcast/2019/12/20/my-annual-daddy-daughter-xmas-podcast-interview-with-an-11-year-old/
Twelve sees us podcasting from covid lockdown. No song this year, but she's playing video games (Among Us), thrifting (while double-masked), and she's just discovered Tiktok, along with Tiktok dances, and she's started to find cool music that I enjoy:
https://craphound.com/news/2020/12/11/daddy-daughter-podcast-2020-edition/
At thirteen, Poe's a high school freshman and the singing is back! She's big into Drag Race and Ru Paul. And high school sucks so hard that she'd rather go back to Zoom school. She's still riding horses, and she's fallen in love with a book for the first time in years: Animal Farm (but she hates the ending):
https://craphound.com/news/2021/12/23/daddy-daughter-podcast-2021-edition/
Last year, Poesy was fourteen, and my office had just flooded out in a freak rainstorm. Poesy has discovered her argumentative nature, and she loves hiking in nearby Angeles National Forest. She's getting into hiphop – Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Cyprus Hill – and South Park (also Fleetwood Mac!). We get a lot about Big Mouth, and a long discussion of her short fiction writing:
https://craphound.com/podcast/2022/12/12/daddy-daughter-podcast-2022-edition/
These annual time-capsules are just tremendous. I may not have had the discipline to do daily, time-lapse ready photo portraits, but this corny, silly yearly tradition is more than a way for my kid and me to spend a few minutes together just before Christmas – they're a way to connect to our past and think about the future to come. I can imagine doing these over Zoom when the kid's away at university in a couple years, though who knows if she'll stand for that.
Here's the podcast episode:

inspired by @onadarklingplain 's 'Albon Pet Primer'
Sir Lewis Hamiltion has a dog, his dog is the goodest boy in the world, and I know too much about his dog so now you must suffer with this knowledge as well enjoy:
Tumblr media
Lewis adopted Roscoe, a English bulldog, from an online adoption agency in 2013.Roscoe is a purebred bulldog with both his mom and dad being show dogs. Roscoe's name was chosen because Lewis thought it but Crofty calling Nico ‘Roscoe’ at the 2016 Chinese Grand Prix makes me have my doubts. Lewis later adopted Coco, a female bulldog. Coco’s breeder was originally going to put her down due to how expensive her health conditions, mostly likely a heart condition, were but Lewis stepped in. If you are trying to tell Coco and Roscoe apart in photos, Coco has a wider white stripe on her head. It is widest around the top of her head. Roscoe has more wrinkles and a brown spot on his snout and his strip ends at the top of his head and a new one starts off center in the back of his head. Coco’s fang teeth are also out more often compared to Roscoe's little teeth and she is a lighter color than Roscoe. Lewis expressed that he adopted the dog because his family has always had dogs, mostly labradors, but he said he always wanted an English bulldog. Coco lived till June 2020 when she passed in the night. Lewis and Roscoe were with her. His mom has five dogs! Both Roscoe and Coco have passports so they can travel with Lewis. Lewis was also granted special permission from Bernie Ecclestone to bring the dogs to the padlock (I assume Charles will ask Domenicali to bring Leo to the Padlock).
Lewis brought a jet to fly with the dogs which he then sold in 2019. Roscoe is good with traveling due to his love of napping. In his first trip with Lewis he slept through most of the flight waking up to go to the bathroom and to make Lewis put him in his lap. Lewis followed Roscoe's command, sleeping with Roscoe in his lap like “a baby.” Lewis said, “Roscoe is the best travel pet, he just sleeps with you.” As Roscoe is getting older, Lewis has made the decision to travel less with him, as the time zones were getting hard on him. While Lewis is racing, Roscoe stays in Los Angeles, California with dog trainer Kirstin McMillan (adventuresindogtraining on instagram). Lewis says he gets pictures of Roscoe everyday and checks in on him. Roscoe also attends a dog park or “Los Angeles' first canine social club” as stated on their website called ‘Dog PPL’ in Santa Monica. It is about $120 a month for one dog.
Tumblr media
Not only is Roscoe Lewis’s son but also his best friend. Lewis talked about his instant connection when they first met. Roscoe gets sad when Lewis leaves and happy when he returns. Lewis says, “Then I get the Frisbee and play with him, and that’s, for me, the biggest highlight – the unconditional love you get from a pet like that.” Roscoe loves quad bikes. In one interview, Lewis said it’s because he’s lazy so he likes being driven around. However, I think it’s because he has taken after his dad and wants to race. Roscoe also loves frisbee and his ball; it seems like he enjoys fetching and chasing after things, like chasing other cars down… Roscoe WDC 2024 confirmed. Lewis also has Roscoe involved in many of his projects, Lewis has hinted that Roscoe has a cameo in ‘Apex’, his movie starring Brad Pitt. When Fortnite asked him to be in the game he said he would only agree if Roscoe was in the game with him. Fortnite, of course, agreed because Roscoe is an angel. They ended up putting him in a jet pack. He was 1,500 V-Bucks or 2,400 V-Bucks with the ‘Lewis Hamilton Budle’ (IDK if thats a lot I don’t play Fortnite). Lewis also said Roscoe is the only person he can count on to stand with him along with Bono.
Tumblr media
After Coco’s death, Lewis took Roscoe to the vet where they recommended starting him on a vegan diet similar to what Lewis has. This vegan diet is often recommended to bulldogs because they often have food intolerances or allergies to the meat proteins that can affect the skin and gastrointestinal tract. The vegan diet Roscoe is on still includes the same things without the meat proteins in it that caused him to have health issues. Lewis has said his breathing has improved and that he no longer has skin allergies. Roscoe also has physical therapy and acupuncture every week to help with his joints.  Roscoe has also had health issues that caused him to ejaculate, often uncontrollably, scaring baby Roscoe and leading to him getting snipped in 2016. Lewis did have his sperm frozen so that Roscoe could have puppies. Lewis said, “It’s great his genes will live on.” Lewis said his plans were to have Roscoe’s puppies after he retires but with the fanzone in 2024 Australia GP, it sounds to me like he may be looking sooner to have Roscoe’s pups or to retire. Last year, around the British GP, Roscoe had some issues regarding his spine. If I remember correctly, it involved a slipped hernia in his spine. Luckily, he got stem therapy and was able to attend the GP. He has been improving, and as of today he is back to normal.
Tumblr media
Now for the part most people know about. Roscoe started his instagram account, roscoelovescoco, in January 2015 with a post featuring Coco and him captioned “Thanks for following us :).” The instagram account was originally a joint account with both Coco and Roscoe until 2020, although both did get solo posts. As expected Roscoe does make money off his Instagram, but he is also a dog model. Lewis said in a Silver Arrows interview in 2021 that he gets paid $700 a day which goes in Roscoe's treat fund. Roscoe also has sponsorships. His Thanksgiving party was sponsored by Bramble Pets, and he did content (including a commercial) for Zapp, a food delivery company Lewis invested in. Roscoe also appears in Lewis' vlog channel (it hasn’t been updated since 2021) multiple times. His last appearance is in a video “Adventures with Roscoe! | Lewis Hamilton Vlogs” which is also the last updated video on Lewis channel. He reached 1 million followers in 2024, which is more than Chouprette Lagerfield, the cat of Karl Lagerfeld (I am not joking, this man left a good chunk of his fortune [~$300 million] to his cat). Roscoe’s captions on his instagram posts were originally typed in a sort of third person first person mix but in October 2020, Roscoe finally established his first first person post with his famous lisp. However, the conspiracy expands as prior to this first lisp post, there are two posts on instagram where Roscoe (and Coco) are talking to us. The first one was posted April 2024 with Roscoe saying, ‘They put a thermometer up me bum, dad!’ In this speech bubble, Roscoe doesn’t have a lisp but does speak in a sort of baby talk. The next post in October 2017 features both Roscoe and Coco with Roscoe saying, “We got acupuncture today Dad!” and Coco saying, “It’s my favorite.” (More info about the dogs getting acupuncture is in the health section.) I will note his lisp comes and goes on his posts around November 2020. His lisp finally stays and its intensity does increase. There are also a few posts taken with Mercedes that don’t feature the lisp, and a few posts talking about Roscoe or Coco written in their “Dad’s” pov where it obviously doesn’t use a lisp.

Nick and the team reporter always liking each other <they both were team rookies in 2019> and they finally got together at the start of this season after gerorge and jimmiy had force them to sit down and they had kept it on the dl till one post game where after she interviewed nick he kissed her or something
Tumblr media
We're Live! - Nick Bosa
Nick couldn't fight the smile that was growing with each step he took towards his beautiful girlfriend. He didn't even notice the amount of shouting his name other reporters were doing on the field as he approached his only favorite reporter.
They met the first week of his signing to the 49ers. He was a rookie, green behind the ears but eager to earn his spot and the trust of the organization and the fans. He thought she was beautiful and loved the way she smiled, her dimples showing, and how kind she was to everyone.
When she was reporting for the team and in her 'professional mode', as he liked to call it, she was confident and louder in her tone, but outside of that role she was a bit more reserved and laid back.
He liked that a lot about her.
They spent a good amount of time together his first year and he was bummed when she brought her new boyfriend along with them to the super bowl.
He tried to move on, meeting Jenna and spending two rough years with her, hoping for the best and trying to make it work. He knew though that he was never fully content with the relationship and no matter what, when she was in any proximity to him, his eyes would hone in on her and stay on her for however long she was in sight.
It pissed Jenna off and she started to accuse him of wanting the other woman.
He denied it, and felt guilty that he was still so drawn to her, but he couldn't tell Jenna that. He just said that they were coworkers and friends - that was it. And that wasn't a lie.
They fought a lot between his place in Santa Clara and the condo he owned and lived in in Fort Lauderdale during his off season.
When he found out about her breaking up with her boyfriend due to his infidelity, Nick finally started to distance himself from Jenna, breaking it off with her privately, enduring her angry reaction, and quickly reaching out to his friend.
Yet, while they grew closer, neither could take the leap to confess and make it official. They were the first person the other texted good morning to and good night to daily. Nick would sneak in to eat lunch with her at the facility and always gave feedback on her ideas for interviews. She in return listened to him talk about football and upcoming games, or would recommend books he could add to his list to read.
The change came when Nick was confiding in George his dilemma ("I just got out of a 2 year relationship that I was technically emotionally cheating and unavailable for half of. She'll think I'm a fucking dickhead.") and George going on to gossip to a nonplussed Jimmy G. about it.
Finally, Jimmy himself got the four of them together, set down the cold hard facts and ordered the two lovebirds to talk it out before escorting a nosy George Kittle out of the room.
And it was history from there. Except they had to keep it on the down low and Nick caught himself a few times almost slipping up and exposing them.
Well, today would be the day he actually did because as soon as she turned and saw him, flashing her beautiful dimpled smile and saying, "Congrats Nick on the win!" As if they were just friendly acquaintances, the rational part of Nick's brain took a vacation and the careless, irrational side that typically showed through in his older brother came out front and center.
"Thanks, babe." He said as he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers.
It didn't register at first until the sound of rapid flashes, gasps around them of other media personnel, and their team's own camera man saying, "Oh shit!" did Nick realize he made an oopsie.
He pulled back slowly, his hands still resting on his girlfriend's waist, as she stared up at him in total shock.
Finally she blinked and said lowly, "Nick, what the fuck?!"
"Oops?" He said sheepishly.
Yeah, oops..

OH , to see you again || J. Hughes PT 1 .
Tumblr media
friendly reminder - I literally have never written a blurb or any kind of fic since I was twelve so please bye 😭.
Flash back -
JUNE 21 , 2019
sitting in the arena nervously— I was to hooked on Jack , watching him smile and laughing along with the other nhl drafts. He looked comfortable and confident tonight his arm around Ellen , making talks with everyone around him . I wasn’t so worried about Jack as much now unlike this morning . I made small conversation here and there with Quinn and Luke beside us .
I’ve been part of the Hughes family since the day I was introduced to Luke in middle school, us in 6th grade ; meanwhile Jack was in 8th grade , I’ve always had a crush on Jack I never thought he would but he indeed was crushing on me , so ever since we’ve been together 24/7 . it took a while for Luke to even like the idea his best friend was dating his older brother , but he indeed liked the idea of having her around more ; so needlessly he never complained about it. But tonight was important to Jack , his whole family necessarily . I was grateful for tonight .
I knew he was going to be drafted off to Jersey , I wasn’t happy with him leaving us like that . But I was prepared somehow knowing he was NHL first pick - i don’t want him to go but this is his dream he had since a child I can’t stop him…. knowing he’s gonna be busy for the next few weeks with his debut , I didn’t mention to him I was leaving forever tonight….. I wasn’t going to ruin his day nor do I need him hurt more . My parents as well have no idea neither Luke ; I was invited to California to debut as an actress / singer , I guess this was my only chance to run away from my heart before Jack breaks it . ….
Everyone in the stadium screaming , listening , and camera flashing every minute as Nhl has announced, Jack’s name for the New Jersey Devils . tears overflowing out everyone eyes , you hear Jack screaming “LETS GO BABY!!” as he goes to hug you tightly with the happiest smile on his face . He left his jacket with you as he went on to the stage for his jersey … you were so happy for him screaming “LETS GO HUGHES BABY” . after few words here and there , you needed to leave but Jack wasn’t in sight due to multiple interviews, who knew when he would come back . You couldn’t miss your flight ; if you did there’s no you would ever leave Jack …. you walked up to Quinn who looked so much brighter then few hours ago , giving him a hug telling him “I’m going back to the hotel I need some assignments to finish tonight .” as you pass him Jack’s jacket as you lied straight to Quinn’s face - holding your tears back . He asked you “aren’t you going to say goodnight to Jack he’ll back soon ?” holding onto your purse shaking your head , no that you won’t say bye to the person you love the most .
-
“You arrived to your destination madam” as your Uber driver pulls up to your hotel , you thank her and you leave her car . Rushing into your room collecting your belongings and everything , cleaning out your and Jack’s hotel room making it look like you never were here with him . Tears flowing down your face as you zip up your luggage . Almost heading out you looked back once , debating if you should leave a note for Jack , but you didn’t at the end fear of hurting him more then what you’re doing now …..

Rammstein interviews from OOR
Dutch music magazine OOR is one of the oldest still existing music magazines in the Netherlands. The magazine aspires to not be just a glossy magazine, but actually write journalistic, critical articles and interviews about both national and international bands.
Rammstein featured a couple of times in the magazine, with interviews between 1997 and 2009 when a new album was released. OOR particpated in the by Rammstein organised sessions for the press, and the various writers didn't hesitate to be critical about the band and to them in personal interviews as well.
1997 Sehnsucht - interview with Till
1999 Interview with Schneider
2001 Mutter - interview with Till and Schneider
2002 Interview with Schneider and Flake
2004 Reise Reise - interview with Richard
2005 Rosenrot - interview with Schneider
2009 Liebe ist für alle da - interview with Richard
In 2019, at the release of the Untitled album, Rammstein was featured as well, but that was more a lookback at the interview that occured 20 years prior in 1999 and 1997.
---
To be honest, i hesitated to post these, because these older interviews often have quite a negative tone, either because of the media's tendency to label Rammstein as nazi-music, being critical about the topics of the songs, being critical of Germans in general: all-in-all classifying Rammstein as 'wrong' (when used in dutch, this means anything from 'politically incorrect' to 'tacky' and lots in between).
In this set, additionally some prejudices the dutch have against Germans shine through (reminiscenses from the 2nd world war, but also the often stated mantra that 'Germans have no sense of humor')
And, particularly between 2000-2010, in interviews the difficulties in the band themselves working within the Rammstein democracy shone through leading to many questions about the end of the band.
But when i was working on translations i realised it's also interesting to read how the band was viewed back then, how that changed a bit when their music changed, and how time itself has changed (some things in the early interviews i'm surprised the journalists actually wrote that down...i'm sure they would get called out for it now). Also maybe it helps explain why the band rarely do interviews anymore, and when they do, how much more relaxed these are.
For context, the last of these interviews was in 2009, which next year will be 15 years ago; half of Rammstein's existence, and so much has happened and changed since then.
If nothing else, the last Q&A from the 2009 interview give us hope for a better future and recent tours (10-15 years after the interview) I think the band really showed they got there:
Do you secretly still love each other?
"Very much even. And above all, very secretly..."

IT is almost perfectly set up to be a good hunger games au. Like these group of kids are basically fighting to a death against a higher power (IT/ the gov) and then have to go back and do it all again in their older ages…
Hear me out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is that not so losers (2019) coded?
And the weapons/ tactics are already laid out.
Bill as the leader
Mike working in the background to take down the big bad
Ben creating a temporary hiding spot
Bev charming everyone at her interview
Stan finding out about mockingjays… Lucy Gray vibes
Richie with the bat/ ax
Eddie as medic/ the one that guides them around the arena
The games ended like it did with Peeta and Katniss. Nobody would hurt each other and the capitol stopped it when they tried to off themselves. And if they are from different districts and didn’t see each other during between then and now…
District 8- Bev- textiles
District 3- Richie- tech (he seems like a tech kid)
District 10- Mike- livestock
District 7- Ben- lumber (he’s an architect)
District 4- Bill- fishing (the boat…)
District 2- Eddie- masonry (he’d work on trains)
District 12- Stan (he’d love the mockingjays)
someone make this please before I do

as the anon that asked for the race list: thank you!
now this is totally up to you if you have the time to spend on this, but this is my first year watching the races, and while I've been doing some background research to get up to speed, there is still a lot i don't know. i trust your judgment so what are some races and/or f1 adjacent things i should look into? i'm going through your McLaren list and have watched the last 4 seasons of dts and the brawn documentary. are there any other books/ documentaries/ races (especially seb's) / old youtube videos that are lost in the void that i should also check out?
again no pressure and thank you!
no problem!
(and btw welcome to f1 and the world of watching some glorified hot wheels every other sunday 😁 it’s great!)
i completely get how daunting it can be as a new fan in the sport. when i was getting back into f1 it also took me some time to get back up to speed with everything, especially all the techy stuff; i honestly learned the most through just watching the races (old and new), bc you get to see all the strategies play out, the pit-stops, the overtakes etc. and the terminology just becomes much easier to understand through sheer exposure. there are also some really cool f1 data analysis blogs you might want to follow on twt/x if you want some more detailed tech analysis and graphs if you’re into that sort of thing: (x)
as for seb, oh there’s a whole arsenal of recs i have!
monza 2008, rise of torro rosso wunderkind; i presume you already know the lore with that one but ig you can never get tired of it.
abu dhabi 2010, world championship no.1 “du bist weltmeister!”
interlagos 2012, the infamous one. this one’s a rollercoaster, chaos everywhere and the manifestation of murphy’s law: anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. amidst a title battle against nando, seb was fighting the weather, bruno senna’s front wing, a damaged side-pod, no radio, and somehow managed to claim p6 to win the championship
malaysia 2013, multi-21 (iconique), he was faster, deal with it. 💅
singapore 2013, domination masterclass from quali to the race. (also just all of his singapore wins...lion of singapore and all that)
india 2013, title no.3 secured, changed tyres on lap 2 and came out p17, was third by only lap 13 and then won the race by nearly 30 seconds. it was also his sixth win in a row. he went on to win three more. speaks for itself. also this:
Tumblr media
malaysia 2015, first win with ferrari, can't forget that one, also features sewis’ gay knee-touching on the podium.
germany 2019, CHAOS, in which merc got bewitched by the special livery curse 😅, with crashes, spins, 50-second long pit stops, and also features one of seb’s best drives from p20 -> p2
i also highly recommend watching Floz's fan-made docus on youtube about 'the silver war' (there are also docus for the 2014 and 2015 seasons) as well as the merc v ferrari (lewis vs seb) 2017 fight and 'fight for five' in 2018, they're so much better than dts and actually give a full run-down of what happened during the season, with all the action on-track, with interviews and providing all the context! it's so well-edited as well (you literally feel like you're watching a movie about all of the seasons) and they are just incredibly fun to watch.
in general, i love rewatching races from 2017/18 (literally my comfort seasons), personal favs include spain 2017 (strategy galore and lewis v seb), baku 2017 (for obv reasons), austin 2017; and basically the 2018 season in its entirety...
as for books, there are many driver autobiographies e.g. jb (he’s even got two lmao), mark webbah etc. but i think the best f1 book out there is adrian newey’s memoir ‘how to build a car’ if you want lore + great insight into cars!
i’d also recommend watching some older races (i could do a separate post on which ones are my personal favs) but it’s all up to you in the end! go digging, look around on yt for some highlights and just keep exploring! 🫶💜

I don’t know if someone’s already replied because I just saw it now but this is why people are attacking Joe:
Joe and Sophie got together in 2016, when she was 20 and he was 27. After a year of dating, they got engaged. Then, in 2019 Sophie had a big year because both the last season of Game Of Thrones and Dark Phoenix were coming out. That also came with a lot of hate, because both of those were bad but also because Daenerys stans decided to hate on Sophie because they disliked Sansa. They also created fake drama between Emília and Sophie, so she got a lot of hate. Sophie also got a lot of hate from Priyanka stans who kept comparing them.
Through all of this, Sophie mentioned having mental health issues and deleted her twitter account. She also mentioned deleting the Instagram app from her phone.
In 2019, they got married and in early 2020 there were rumors of her being pregnant. The pandemic happened and they had a child. In 2021, she did The Staircase, and then she took another break to have baby number 2. She’s now back to work on a TV show called Joan.
If I remember correctly Joe has been working and touring through a lot of this. So it seems like she had a hard time with her new found fame (she had been famous for years but she became a lot more well known in 2019) and decided to take a step back and start a family with him.
I think it’s worth mentioning that she has said that her family and friends are all in the UK and she was trying to convince Joe to move back there. This year she has been spending a lot of time in the UK, even before she started filming, so I think it’s possible she really wants to move back there.
It all seems a bit tragic to me. She has struggled with depression and an ED throughout her whole life because of GOT, and she’s spent all her 20s dating a man almost 10 years older than her, taking a step back to have his children while he kept working, living far away from her family and friends, etc. and now, when she goes back to the UK and gets back to work, his team (it had to come from there) acts like she abandoned her children and like Joe deserves a gold medal for being a father.
I’m not saying their relationship was toxic, but I do think it maybe wasn’t the healthiest for her. She’s also talked about Joe helping her with her mental health struggles, but maybe that led to some dependency that wasn’t great. Specially since he apparently broke up with her right before they got married because of her mental health. I had misunderstood that interview and I thought she was saying they had broken up for 24 hours right at the beginning of their relationship, but apparently it was right before the wedding in Las Vegas.
All in all, I think Joe shouldn’t have gotten with someone as young as her. I usually don’t mind age differences when both people are in their 20s, but I do think she was probably too young. I think he tried to help with her mental health but I don’t think it was the healthiest. I think she has given up more for him than he has for her. It’s sad that they tried to make her look bad with the divorce news.
I also fully believe the news, but I also believe they could work it out and then fans will pretend it was all fake. But I do believe they’re on the brink of divorce but still willing to work it out if possible. That’s why neither were wearing their rings but now Joe is wearing it again. I think they’re still trying to make it work but they’re also speaking to lawyers.
If they do get a divorce custody will probably get messy, since she’ll probably want to take the kids to the UK and he won’t
Sorry for all of that! I don’t know if it makes any sense!
Wow, I had no idea all of that went on between them and I actually also had no idea of their age difference, that’s a little 😬 especially when combined with her mental health issues. Definitely seems like there was an imbalance of power there (if true, just my opinion)
But it looks like Joe just filed for divorce and I agree with you, I think custody will get messy because every article / report / detail we have seen so far about this break up seems to be coming from his camp and trying to make him look good (agree with you on that completely, as if watching your own kids makes you father of the year 🙄) so he is already on the offense. I just hope their kids don’t suffer as a result of all this but unfortunately, we see how this stuff goes
Thanks for all the info, anon 💗

||*. she was scouted by fantagio music and pledis entertainment but chose to train under pledis. she trained for around 3 years and 2 months before making her debut in seventeen.
||*. trained for a year and half to join a female group, but pledis pulled her from the group to join seventeen. they wanted seventeen to stick out in the industry, so they placed her in the group.
||*. she is just slightly older then dk, making her the 8th oldest member in the group. she is the oldest of the 97 line.
||*. out of everyone in the group, she closest to joshua and vernon. this is mainly due to the fact that they were the only english speakers during training and bonded while taking korean classes together.
||*. jae is often babied by the older members of the group. she plays it off like it annoys her, but she finds it quite endearing.
||*. the members, older and younger, are very protective of her. this is mostly observed during public outings, variety shows, going seventeen, etc.
||*. jae rarely gets called by her birth name. the members started calling her jj (재재) while promoting their debut album, and the nickname has stuck ever since. she once told an interviewer that she often forgets that’s her full name and it surprises her anytime someone uses it.
||*. jae, joshua, and vernon became wildly popular in 2019 when they released their single album called eternity. the group is similar to BSS, but features the american line of seventeen. their album contains four songs, two in korean and two in english.
||*. after seventeen’s debut, jae received a lot of backlash for being the only female in the group. she is forever thankful to her fellow group members and fans for sticking up for her when things got rough.
||*. got nicknamed ‘killer charisma’ by carats due to her intense stage presence and charisma on variety shows. she’s been told by other idols that they’ve felt nervous approaching her due to her stage presence.
||*. she looks up to groups like snsd and girls day. she is often found listening to their music during practice breaks and in the dorms. her favorite songs are darling, female president, lion heart, and mr. mr.
||*. she’s likes writing scripts for television and film in her free time. she says that if she went to college she would have studied film and hopes to one day be able to write a successful drama.

Charlie Lightening on All Of Those Voices | ‘It all made sense to do this film when I saw Louis at a gig with his audience’
Interview by Teddy Coward
Posted 3 hours ago (22.3.23)
Following his acclaimed 2019 documentary on Liam Gallagher, As It Was, director Charlie Lightening has turned his attention to Louis Tomlinson.
The former One Direction star hasn’t had it all as plain sailing as many would assume since the manufactured post- X Factor days. Following the deaths of both his mother and sister, Tomlinson has had to overcome personal plight, as he searches for purpose in his solo career and life on tour. It’s all there to see in All Those Voices – and we spoke to Lightening to find out how the film all came together…
Congratulations on the new film – I found it quite moving, surprisingly so…
It’s interesting you say that. I think in its entirety the film will be surprising to a lot of people: the honesty and Louis’ journey, and how big it’s actually become. Sometimes I find among the press, [Louis] doesn’t get as much credit as say Niall does – and obviously Harry. But this film is something where I think people will think, ‘Wow’, and realise [he should].
Tumblr media
Definitely, it’s a very up-close-and-personal film. When did you first meet Louis and when did the idea for making a documentary about him originate?
I made the Liam Gallagher film, As It Was. Louis came to the premiere of that. Then his people got in touch and asked if I’d be interested in making some music videos for him. Obviously, I knew the history of [One Direction] and read certain things about what he’d been through personally. So I met him, and immediately liked him. There was something about him: he wasn’t just nice, but down-to-earth.
In the same way Liam Gallagher isn’t showbiz, Louis is the same – he’s not interested in showbiz mates, he just wants to be a down-to-earth lad. It’s a similar thing to me with my Northern roots. I just got to know him, and the more we talked, there’s a real depth to him. He’s a lot older than his years and a lot wiser than many given him credit for.
Him being a deep thinker comes across clearly in the documentary – especially the chats he has with his vocal coach, Helene Horylck…
And his honesty as well. Honesty and authenticity is what I try to capture when I make a film; at the root of everything I do, it becomes just a human story. It’s about finding something I like about that person, and knowing there’s a journey to go on, and that I can make the audience feel the same way I feel about him. I’ve worked with everyone over the years. I’ve been with Paul McCartney for about 15 years and documented him and learnt a lot from doing that, but it’s always just been me and a camera.
Tumblr media
I always thought, ‘How are people going to take me seriously, if it’s just me and a camera?’ So I wanted to go and be the big director on set, with 50 people. Then I realised I lost that pureness of just you, a camera and a person. I’ve realised that’s now become my niche as such. You can see the similarities with [As It Was] and this film, where you’re right with the person.
With that in mind, did you have an initial vision about how you wanted to go about this film or did you just let the cameras roll, as it were? Because there’s this incredible narrative arc that takes place, from an artist a bit unsure of himself to a huge headline world tour…
It goes back to when I met him: I thought there’s so much more to this lad than we’re seeing. And I think being in a band like One Direction, as much as it gives you so many opportunities, it’s also a heavy load to carry, based on what you’re expected to deliver.
Especially for Louis, because of the music he’s into, and who he is, it’s difficult for him because he’s coming out and doing stuff that’s a bit more indie – it’s almost too indie for pop stations, and not indie enough for indie. I felt that the next album [Faith In The Future], was going to one where he’d do something really interesting. So it was his personality, what he was about, his opportunity and where he could go. But then it all made sense when I saw him do a gig with his audience. I thought I could finally make this film because I’d never seen an audience and an artist be on the same level like that.
Tumblr media
Originally, we were meant to shoot the film, and it was all about getting on tour. But then because COVID happened, it added a whole other depth to the film. And I think his journey through that, doing those two shows, having a taste of it as a solo artist, and then stepping away from it, I think that made him actually realise his opportunity.
You mentioned One Direction, and obviously you can’t really tell Louis’ story without it, but the film doesn’t really dwell on the band or his time in it. Was that something you were conscious of: to really place emphasis on Louis as a solo artist?
There was so much of a story to tell of after One Direction. In some ways with One Direction, you know the story: they were put together, they brought their own personality, and it went massive. There’s not much more to it. I wanted to get across the whole story about him on that first single when he’s not actually on the single. And then for him to tell the story on the second single, wanting to get on it and going over it for hours with a producer, then he hears it and it’s Harry singing the line.
It must have been crushing: all of this success, everyone’s saying you’re famous, but you’re thinking, ‘What’s my role in this?’ For him to then go and want to be involved in the songwriting was so clever – if he’s not going to sing the line, if he wrote the line that’s almost better. That for me was the most important thing about One Direction; it was him finding his feet in it and then feeling validated with it.
Tumblr media
There are some very difficult moments in Louis’ life too – chiefly the deaths of his mother and sister. What do you think Louis has in his character to overcome such immense challenges, especially with such public attention?
I think it’s his mum. I never got to meet her, but I felt a heavy responsibility in telling the story because obviously it’s someone’s life and it’s a sensitive scenario. At the same time, it could be something that could be milked or done in a certain way. It needed to be told, but I didn’t think it needed to be lingered on. There’s a line that [Louis’] grandma says: “we pride ourselves on being decent people”. And you can see that in Louis, he’s ahead of his years, which is what his mum gave him.
What were some of the biggest challenges you had in making this documentary?
Normally it would be like, ‘Right, we’ve got ten people coming to do this shoot, we’ve got two weeks and within that time we need X, Y and Z.’ Whereas, I’ll want to shoot for longer and it will organically happen. I think sometimes that can be tough because it all goes on in my head. A lot of the time we’re just hanging out, and it happens without [the artist] even realising. But I think it can be tougher on a bigger scale because you have to keep a lot of people happy.
Tumblr media
Louis does come across exceptionally open in the film. Did that come immediately to him or did you have to build a rapport with him to get there? And how did you go about establishing that?
I’ve always just got on with people. There’re so many – I won’t say the word – idiots in the industry. There’s lots of egos and self-inflated people. And, for myself, I’ve always very much got on with the artist, it’s a very organic process. People just seem to let me in and trust me. Once that trust is established, nothing is off the table, we can talk about everything.
The only thing with Louis, because it was so personal, is once we got to the end [of filming], if there was anything that wasn’t right, or he didn’t feel comfortable, we would at least talk it through. But there wasn’t anything, I was surprised. The one thing I was worried about when he first saw the cut of it was how he would feel about all the personal stuff because I was so aware of how I wanted it to be. But by the time he saw it, there were actually no real comments about the personal stuff.
The story of Louis being a young dad is quite powerful too. It must have been quite an emotional project to film and create for you personally, to be in and amongst that…
I lost my mum as well, not too long before we started filming, so there was a sense of empathy from myself because of what Louis had been through. But I never felt sorry for him. I think in the past, it felt as though a lot of people had felt sorry for him, or they hadn’t necessarily looked at how good he is. That’s why, in some ways, he hasn’t talked about this stuff in the past, and why it’s good it’s in the film, because he’s said it all. He doesn’t need to go into too much detail with it.
Tumblr media
Did that narrative arc that takes place surprise you as it developed, and you were making the film?
Yeah, you’re only as good as your subject, in many respects. With Louis, one, you’ve got the story; two, the arc of it; and three, because he’s grown up with cameras because of One Direction, is how comfortable he is around it. I think if you try and manipulate something, try and hold something back, I the viewer can tell – I can tell, anyway.
And then if you think about the fact that with the first tour, because he didn’t want to put his shop out and go and do massive shows from beginning, but wanted to feel it out, the first tour was smaller shows. But because of it being canceled two shows in, then he did livestream a year later and he’s in the Guinness Book of Records – it was the best thing. By the time he finally gets to go on tour, the need and want to see him was even greater.
We started the tour in America, and kept it in the theatre size, just to get a feel for it all. By the time we got to Europe, he then upgraded to arenas. And then we go to South America and he’s doing numerous nights in arenas. So, in some respects, you have the story of what you’d do over two or three tours, all happening at once.
Tumblr media
Out of all of Louis’ lyrics, why did you choose All Of Those Voices as the title?
We thought “all of those voices” works on many levels. It’s “all of those voices” in his head, all of the voices that have said ‘you can’t do it’, or ‘you’re not good enough’. It’s also “all of those voices” of the audience in the crowds who’ve lifted him up. We took that line because it had so many meanings.
Speaking of all the people who put him down and those who’ve lifted him up, how far do you think Louis can go now?
Again, that’s a funny one. He’s already at a point that most artists don’t even get to. Personally I feel that what he can do is continue to champion indie bands, taking them on tour, and hopefully people can leave the snobbery just because he was in a pop band.
I think he’s just at the beginning, though, really – now he’s got the confidence to do what he wants. I mean, his shows are great, man. I’ve showed the film to younger people; my assistant director, for one, was a big One Direction fan as a kid, and she said, “I just didn’t realise he was doing this, I want a ticket to go see that show.”
Tumblr media
Do you think this is a film for the fans, or were you making this for people beyond that base?
It was really important to me to make a human story. Hopefully the fans will love it, but it was really important to make a film that if someone who isn’t a big fan put it on, they’d think, ‘Wow, he’s a cool guy’. I’ve got a lot of respect for Louis, and I value him dearly as a friend as well. But at the same time, it’s really important to me it’s not a purely promotional piece, or anything that’s made to further someone’s career, like a lot of these documentaries are. I think it would be hard to critique what we’ve done because he’s just being honest.
There are so many fans who come up to Louis at signings and say, ‘You’ve saved my life’ and ‘thank you’; because he’s had success and been very lucky, but also some of the stuff he’s been through is quite touching – at the same time, like he says [in the film], that could happen to anybody. I feel that for him to show that he’s been through it, and be honest that it’s been tough for him, but that he’s trying to get through it and be positive, is such a strong message for people.

I feel like the majority of his impetus behind ASP was his disgust with Trump. It feels like it was his more physical manifestation of his anti-Trump stance, beyond his tweets of the time. I feel like once Trump lost re-election in 2020 his politics interest started waning big time.// I noticed this too. I started questioning it ever since he brought the idea forward and doing interviews about it. It felt like a vanity project against trump with interviews of not so great republicans. Then once trump started going downhill and lost, his interest in it has almost disappeared. I wonder if he feels like he accomplished anything with ASP. I don’t think we’ll ever know but from the outside looking in, it doesn’t feel that way to me. However I do think it could’ve been a very decent political site if there was just more of a long term focus and determination about it. He’s just not a person who has that, in my opinion.
So, obviously, I'm using some older asks still in the inbox to spur some things I'm thinking about while I have asks off.
While I do believe in the loss of interest after Trump was out of office, I also want to talk about what ASP might have accomplished for Chris, even half-heartedly.
Let's not kid ourselves that ASP was not a cog in the wheel of a larger PR persona soft pivot strategy. Let's take a look:
The Wired Interview, January 2020 (clock when the interview actually happened though, October 2019 in L.A.)
So this was done not too many months after the Hollywood Reporter Interview of early 2019 that also teased the "quasi-retirement" angle and talked about ASP as well:
So, like any good business venture, using the year previous to launch to tease out the product. (The product being the reinvented post-Marvel Chris Evans.)
Then, a feather in the cap that would have hit at the same time as ASP's initial launch, had it not been for Covid, the Time Magazine May 2020 inclusion article:
But, to me, the real big score for any politico, a write-up in The Washington Post, October 22, 2020:
They even came to his MA house for the photoshoot, due to Covid.
The rebrand/pivot continued into 2021, post-election, but pre- him going back to more regular filming scheule. The Newsweek article, June 18-25, 2021 cover edition:
So, here we had it, the real gain from ASP, the post-Marvel all-grown up new Chris Evans PR persona. Yay.
Too bad whatever personal life decisions he made half-way through 2021 completely blew this up.
I would have liked to have seen where this version of Chris could have gone. (And I guess we'll never see this again, because he seems to have no interest in it anymore.)

Diving into The Abyss arc of Donny Cates' Venom!
I'm currently marathoning Donny Cates' Venom run in the "Venomnibus by Cates & Stegman" that I got as a birthday present this year. I re-read "The Abyss" arc published in Venom (2018) #9-12 just a few nights ago (which was the last arc from the run that I originally read back in 2019), and holy FREAKING crap... I had honestly forgotten just how effectively heavy and powerful this arc truly was!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I first read this storyline back in 2019, it completely blew me away with its sheer amount of shocking twists and revelations, ranging from the backstory of a teenage Eddie Brock being involved in a drunk driving accident in which he ran over and killed a kid, but ultimately got off despite wanting to plead guilty due to Eddie's abusive father Carl Brock violently forcing him to plead innocent, to the revelation that his older sister Mary Brock and past experiences with cancer were actually false memories implanted by the symbiote in order to manipulate Eddie into staying with it, to the fact that he has a son named Dylan Brock who was accidentally conceived during that brief time his ex-wife Anne Weying bonded with Eddie's symbiote and briefly became "She-Venom" during the 90s miniseries Venom: Sinner Takes All.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But re-reading the story now I can look back and greatly appreciate the sheer amount of craft that's on display with Cates' writing in this arc, since he carefully foreshadows all of these plot twists all throughout the arc through subtle hints and double-meanings in the character's dialogue. Aside from the brilliant narrative subversion of fooling the reader into initially believing that Eddie is the kid who's run-over in the flashbacks before pulling to rug to reveal that in actuality Eddie was the one behind the wheel, the twist that Eddie's sister was simply a false memory was expertly foreshadowed through both Carl & Dylan being absolutely confused whenever Eddie mentioned the name "Mary."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another that I really love about the drunk-driving backstory is how it not only recontextualizes Eddie’s motivations as both an anti-hero and as a supervillain. In regards to his anti-hero persona, Eddie's constant proclamations about wanting to "protect the innocent" were rather ill-defined back when the character received over a dozen miniseries' during the 90s. But here Cates' emphasizes how Eddie's guilt over accidentally killing a kid and being let off due to being manipulated by his abusive father has made him want to try to protect "real innocents" from people like himself. but also during his time as a villain pursuing Spider-Man. As for how this backstory recontextualizes Eddie's tenure as a Spider-Man villain, during in the original David Micheline era in which Venom first debuted, Eddie’s hatred for Spidey was connected to the classic Death of Jean DeWolfe storyline, wherein Eddie wrote a series of interviews for the Daily Globe with a man he believed to be the notorious serial killer, “the Sin Eater,” whilst hiding the killer’s true identity under the guise of “first amendment rights and protecting his journalistic source.” But Eddie was eventually forced to reveal his source’s identity due to mounting police pressure and the Sin Eater’s rising body-count, which led to Eddie outing the Sin Eater as Emil Gregg. But literally 30-minutes later it was revealed that Gregg was just a copycat, as Spidey caught the real Sin Eater who turned out to be policeman Stan Carter, which led to Eddie being fired and refusing to take responsibility for his own failures by projecting the blame onto Spider-Man. Additionally, the Micheline's Venom: Lethal Protector & Zeb Wells' Venom: Dark Origin miniseries highlighted how Eddie’s relationship with his estranged father partially influenced his writing of the Sin Eater interviews in an effort to bolster his reputation, but following his firing permanently destroyed any chances of reconciliation with Carl Brock.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And in those classic stories Eddie constantly proclaimed that he was “once an innocent whose life Spider-Man ruined,” even though his actions as a journalist were incredibly morally dubious and unethical. So the drunk driving backstory of Eddie being violently forced to plead innocent by his father and ultimately getting off? That only further fleshes out Eddie’s inability to accept responsibility and false projection of “innocence” onto himself during his villainous phase in those original stories, while also showing how much Eddie has grown since then by acknowledging that he’s not a “real innocent.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plus, there's also a strong thematic through-line in this arc about the nature of abusive relationships in the form of Eddie's co-dependent bond with the Venom Symbiote plus Carl's abusive behavior towards Eddie in the past & Dylan in the present day. Additionally, Cates also touches upon ideas of self-improvement and redemption, not only through the backstory of Eddie's motivation to "protect the innocent," but also through the story ending with Eddie deciding to raise Dylan himself after helping him escape Carl's influence, as well as the Venom symbiote willingly leaving Eddie & Dylan after the former denounces the symbiote's manipulative behavior, with the symbiote proclaiming that it's, "Trying... to... be... better... both... of... you... better... without... me..."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It shows that the key difference between Carl and both Eddie & the symbiote is that Venom at least acknowledges his past monstrous behavior and makes efforts to change unlike his coward of a father, thereby simultaneously allowing Eddie to overcome the demons of his past with his abusive father, as well as making the symbiote's later reunion with Eddie in Absolute Carnage more believable!
Tumblr media
Like... hot dang! There's a reason why "The Abyss" arc in particular left such a lasting impression on me when I initially read the first 12-issues of Donny Cates' Venom series a few years ago! Not only does it still hold up phenomenally well from both a narrative and thematic standpoint, but it's gotten me even more excited to dive into the rest of Cates' Venom run and the corresponding Absolute Carnage and King In Black events, which will be my first time ever reading those stories!
However, I do have some thoughts regarding two minor points of contention about Cates' run as a whole and "The Abyss" arc in particular that I've encountered from toxic fandom spaces here on Tumblr that I also wanted to address, which I'll link to right here:
