Idk if the people complaining about the BG3 endings are D&D players or not but like...this does feel like the ending of a campaign y'know. Sacrifices are made, people are stubborn and time is short so sometimes you have to choose between npcs who could have worked together but won't, and the thing with character arcs.

If you finished them, the companions' arcs are complete emotionally I think (except for Karlach rip, although I hope Larian does make up for it. Late-addition I guess :/). Lae'zel breaks free of her indoctrination, Shadowheart discovers who she is and now has the choice to decide who she can be, Astarion's learned enough things about himself that he's almost a completely different character by the end of it, Gale's gotten over Mystra and over his constant need to be better and stronger (this is all assuming the "Good Endings"), Wyll's broken his pact with Mizora and it makes sense for his character to keep trying to help people, whether that's by becoming the Blade of Avernus or otherwise.

Life goes on after the campaign ends. Characters move on, and for characters like the BG3 ones, where it ended at level 12, it makes sense that they wouldn't settle down in a place to chill and have a fairytale ending. They have the last tiny part of their stories to complete.

I think the reason it funnels a little right at the big moment (where it ends up being "Choose Orpheus or the Emperor," and "Choose who to become the illithid or let Gale explode") is because for these big last boss fights, there tends to have to be a sacrifice. I know there might be some bugs or whatnot, or people wanted more knowledge about what was going to happen to everyone else, but this is still a roleplaying game? Should I remind you that in BG3, you are, in fact, roleplaying as Tav/Origin Character?

That's the reason why you learn more about what a companion does after defeating the Netherbrain if you play as them and why if you play as Tav, you don't know what comes next.

For the few D&D campaigns I've played, at the end of it, it's always just been the players deciding individually what happens to the characters. Sometimes, they've died. Sometimes, they've continued adventuring and end up making appearances in the next campaigns, and sometimes they just had their fairytale ending. (From what I've seen the ending is quite a bit bugged and once Larian fixes that it'll probably please a bunch of people. My thoughts are incredibly disjointed right now but hjkrhlakjsdfh)

Those open-ended endings are good, I think. Lae'zel's always been a fighter, regardless of whether it was because of Vlaakith or not. She's always been steadfast in her beliefs and will stop at nearly nothing to make sure she accomplishes what she's set her mind to. She's got a code of honor, even if that code might skew towards "evil," so it makes complete sense that she would want to return to the Astral Plane to stop Vlaakith. What becomes of her and her mission, we don't know, because Tav, in that moment, is not in the Astral Plane with Lae'zel.

Shadowheart's arc was about reclaiming herself, so to speak. And that's hard when you've been brainwashed by a goddess for the majority of your life. Ironically, the whole theme of "Loss" is always prevalent, whether it's because she serves Shar or because she's let her parents go. Unlike Lae'zel, her purpose now is something vague: live your life. She doesn't know what exactly to do, so she heads off by herself. She doesn't know where she's going exactly, and so therefore Tav wouldn't either.

Astarion's ending pissed people off, and I do kind of wish that if you kept Gale's True Resurrection scroll, you could cure him, but it makes sense I suppose. If you kept him from becoming Vampire Ascendent, it signifies that he's finally free of Cazador and that he's finally free of his near all-consuming quest for power. The ability to walk in the sun is a power, and when he burns after the tadpoles die, it's because he's given up that power earlier, but is a better person because of that. I believe that if you do an Astarion Origin ending, it turns out that he heads to the Underdark to lead the vampire spawn because he's taking responsibility. He's becoming a leader where Cazador had been a tyrant

For Gale, his entire storyline is just him walking on a knife's edge. He's somewhere between desperately trying to live and trying to find some convenient time to die, between loving Mystra and hating her, between wanting more power and being content with what he has. The end (find the crown, give it to mystra) is a fitting ending I think. I honestly don't think Mystra's a very good goddess to hold the attention of, but he realizes that a) he's got a little obsessive and b) he doesn't need more power and that he'll be content just to be Gale Dekarios. So it makes sense for him to quite literally just settle down somewhere. He doesn't have the urge to make himself stronger and better constantly, and he won't end up killing all of Waterdeep. He's free to live at home, do wizard things, and have Tara yell at him for poor life choices.

And Wyll's Blade of Avernus ending makes sense (even if he didn't sell his soul to Mizora forever: I think you can get this ending if you save his father anyway). He's got his hero complex. His daddy issues aren't so much a problem and the pact is gone (you can break the pact and then hurry to the prison I believe), but he's going to keep fighting, keep being a hero. If Karlach's dying, he's definitely the kind of person to jump at the chance to help her, even if that means going to Avernus. Besides, he can keep killing demons and devils there.

I will agree that its a bit annoying (because again, I definitely think that Act 1 is the most thought-through and polished piece, and there are bugs abound in Act 2 and 3) but seeing Larian's response so far (we've got Patch 1 and 2 confirmed already, with the possibility of a DLC not off the table), people who were disappointed should still have hope.

Just be warned that the perfect fairy tale ending probably isn't possible, but your companions will still be happy. This isn't new: take LOTR for example. Faramir's father and brother are still dead, but at the end of everything, he'll still be happy. He'll have some more action when he cleans out Minas Ithil, but in the end, despite everything he's lost, he'll be happy. Frodo is heavily scarred by his experience, and perhaps it's not the best ending per say, by the end of the day, people and life move on, and we know that Frodo will be happy in Valinor.

(This is also probably because I love the bittersweet endings, although I understand that most people probably hate them)

Thank you for the ask! In this essay I will…

Oh, Jere will definitely be the bestest tour wife there ever was. Needless to say, he watches all the concerts backstage and each day picks a new song to try to sing along to, discreetly glancing at the writing in his hand so as not to make it too obvious that he’s still learning. But the writing is smudged and he’s still practicing pronunciation, so he sings ”Usa car vem, in car sam, je ta napoli”. But that’s okay, because he’s trying his best <3

When the gig is over, (and the routine hugs and kisses and ”you were amazing babe” done), he runs back to the tour bus, while the guys shower, to finish the preparations he started earlier. He makes sure to fluff Bojan’s pillow and sprays it with some calming lavender oli because he knows it will help Bojan sleep better (besides sleeping in his arms ofc) <3

He places Bojan’s favourite bear slippers next to the bunk (dusted and aired) and, after wearing it for a while, he folds the hockey wife jersey on the bed, having sensed from Bojan’s mood earlier (and listening to him sing Everybody’s waiting) that it’s one of those days and Bojan needs some extra comfort <3

Then he looks up last-minute tips online how to give the perfect shoulder/back/feet/hand/THIGH massage (he LOVES massaging Bojan’s thighs, but he’ll do whatever massage his man wants). Earlier in the day, he spent a few hours shopping for a few essentials, like a dozen different massage oils, because he wants to make sure that his Bojan has all the options he could ever want <3

But Jere also spends some time in each city to find the perfect silly little trinket he can gift to Bojan, and that Bojan finds on his pillow after every concert <3

From Tallinn, Jere got Bojan a key chain with two hearts intertwined. From Krakow and Malmö, he got magnets, the first with a donut on it, saying ”Donut forget that I love you”, and the second with two tomatoes holding hands, saying ”I love you from my head tomatoes”. And a few days ago in Hamburg, he bought Bojan and himself matching half heart necklaces. (”Because you come here to record and then you go back Ljubljana, but I have work and I not see you then, but I want you remember that I’m always here”) <3

Lastly, he makes sure that all of Bojan’s favourite snacks are waiting for him, neatly in different bowls. And if he still has time, Jere continues learning the lyrics to Vse kar vem (and this time he gets them right!) <3

When the boys arrive:

Kris: ”Oh thanks Jere, these are my favourite!” *reaches for the bowl containing TV Mix sour candies*

Jere: *slaps his fingers* ”This only for the Bojan, get your own!”

This happens every night with one of the boys, but Jere always gives up in about 15 seconds, because he loves the others too and then gives them all the treats <3

Hello yoru! Sorry for the personal question but, does sex with a man feel good? I've only had sex with a woman but no penetration other than fingering so I have zero idea of what it's really like, and frankly it kind of scares me to the point it turns me off, so I chalk it up to me being asexual, because ultimately I end up having no sexual attraction to anyone. The number of times Mobei Jun could count on one hand that some pint-sized human had thrown themself at his chest, pleading for assistance, would be twice. An astounding two times.

The first occured when his Shang Qinghua fled from a nest of monstrous, maneating ruby-eyed spiders. He snotted all over the front of Mobei Jun's robes and clung to his waist crying desperately 'My King! Save me!' The pathetic display stirred something deep inside him, but at the time he couldn't figure out exactly what.. so he did the only rational thing any demon would do in his position! He peeled Shang Qinghua off and flung him back into to ravenous mandibles of the spider swarm! He realized, some time later, that what he felt was sympathy and probably shouldn't have thrown his attendant..

And the second time is now. As he stares down at the unfamiliar face, Mobei Jun decided he wouldn't make the same mistake he did years ago. When the shouts of angry bar patrons reached the allyway and the thrashing of heavy footfalls stampede closer, he effortlessly scoops the human up into his arms.

"Hush. They're coming." His voice rumbles, the thought of retreat occurring to him for a fraction of a second- but demons never retreat. Instead he plots, the temperature plummets and a thin layer of ice crackles as it engulfs the street and surrounding buildings.

The first patron rounds the corner shouting, "Found the bastard!" A second chimes in, "Get 'im!" While a third roars, "He's mine!" Simultaneously all three skid on the ice, toppling into one another and slipping on their asses.

Mobei Jun huffs, the corner of his lips twitch. It's not quite a grin but it's pretty damn close as he watches on in amusement at their failed attempts to stand upright. This emtertains him for a good 5 seconds before he grows bored from their struggle and turns to leave, with the human who caused all this ruckus still held firmly in his arms.

ok so i’ve been re blogging a lot abt first kill getting cancelled and how it relates to heartstopper and i just wanna mention something that ppl who r defending heartstopper rn don’t seem to be acknowledging which is that yes, the show has wlw rep and the comic did too but i feel like it’s important to point out that in the comic darcy and tara we’re featured MUCH less than nick and charlie (which makes sense in context bc the format alice ose man was working w didn’t rlly allow for the same kind of pacing the netflix show had, but don’t try to act like darcy and tara weren’t heavily sidelined throughout the whole thing - getting minor plots at best when they got any attention at all) and that people are comparing the two specifically because they came out only a few months apart and first kill had way less traction (even without considering that it was competing against mf stranger things and the umbrella academy, heartstopper had the benefit of being adapted of an already well known comic that was guaranteed to bring viewers in and had a major advantage - and STILL got outperformed by first kill) and the point is really this: heartstopper has really, really good rep and it’s important and i like it i genuinely do but there is a constant pattern of sapphic media being shoved to the sidelines while mlm media gets to flourish under fetishization (WHICH IS ALSO A PROBLEM BUT AGAIN NOT THE POINT RN) and wlw people are t i r e d of seeing our shit constantly sidelined and being told that it wasn’t important in the first place. you can probably quote several pieces of mlm media right now that center around the main characters just getting to discover themselves and explore their sexuality that’s been franchised to death but sapphics don’t have that luxury. i’m not that old and i remember watching everything sucks for the first time and crying when i saw someone like me on a screen for the first time and i remember how heartbroken i was and that has happened so many fucking times since and sapphic people are tired of our rep getting thrown down the fucking drain time and time again and it’s not a coincidence anymore, it’s because these shows don’t center around white cis men and it’s an attack and we have a right to be pissed so i don’t want to hear it

it's definitely not gonna happen and it wouldn't make up for the utter lack of content in the show regarding Bart's disappearance, but i would like it so so much if the Outsiders and Bart's family were being like. a bit overprotective/hover-y with him in Targets. he vanished on them with no warning, i could see them being a little overly concerned or clingy after getting him back

That’d be cool - I really hope we do see some changes in dynamics with Bart after what happened - there really was a major lack of people caring about him while he was gone - so it would be nice to see something like this in Targets…

Alternatively maybe some of them are now a little mistrusting of him - he did disappear off into space on a mission he’d been planning for months and (potentially) told no one about - that’s gonna create some trust issues - not everyone’s gonna view things with the same objectivity as Dick. I can see some being a little annoyed at him for pulling such a stunt - especially if he keeps up his perky, everything was fine attitude. The outsiders had just gone through dealing with Gar bottling things up from them and Bart’s essentially done the same thing by not trusting anyone enough to let them know anything. Out of everyone, I feel like Cassie could hold the biggest grudge with him… she was lumbered with leading the outsiders indefinitely after Gar bailed, Conner had been killed and the world was in mourning - including her probably, she’s now responsible for those she’s leading as well as the planning and deploying of missions, she possibly still had Wonder girl duties with Wonder Woman to deal with, as well as managing her own life and emotions after everything that’s been going on… then Bart goes missing on her watch and not only is that another teammate gone, reducing their arsenal for missions, but that’s another friend who could be dead for all she knew. Though we haven’t seen much of her, Cassie has been through A LOT this season and I think she’s well in her right to be even a little bit angry with Bart for not considering how his sneaking off could hurt those who care about him… 🤷‍♀️

I can also see Jay losing some of his trust in Bart and no longer being as okay leaving him home alone for prolonged amount of times, and again, I wouldn’t blame him for that. Bart literally promised Jay he wouldn’t leave him and then Jay comes home from being away to find an empty house and nothing to explain where Bart might be - he had to live with that worry until Bart came back - worry that likely won’t be going away now that he’s back. I think Bart’s gonna need to put a lot of work into rebuilding that trust - and learn that he matter to people - he can’t just disappear and not expect there to be consequences…

Or, I could be putting way too much though into this - but that what’s currently going through my head.

Hi 🖤 this maybe a weird question but I just got into the fandom and I’ve been catching up on the Solangelo discourse and I haven’t read the newest book yet but I was wondering if you think it’s better on the ableism front or at least negated/addressed some of the concern from the ship antis?

Side note but as someone new to the (tumblr) fandom are there any blog/post/thinkpiece recommendations? I’m just starting to understand some of the discourse and discussions and I don’t want to miss any important stuff in fan discussions. Or anything you’d personally add?

honestly as an able-bodied person i wouldn’t say i’m the best person to judge whether or not the ableist undertones in the ship were properly addressed. i will say that a significant part of will’s arc in the book is about learning to put in more effort to understand nico and that the darker sides of him aren’t meant to be conquered or fixed, just lived with. however, that’s more about his underworld heritage than anything else. but it can also be applied to his ptsd, and you could easily see how it can also be made to be about physical disability. most of the complaints about the book that i’ve seen were about the plot or the continuity errors or the characterization, not ableism in particular. so based on what i’ve seen in the book and the reactions from my mutuals i at least believe the ableism isn’t any worse than before. nevertheless, take my perspective with a grain of salt.

as for blog recommendations, most of the people i reblog from regularly are good places to start (i don’t want to try tagging everybody because if i forget someone i’ll feel bad so mutuals feel free to promo yourselves lmao).

if you’re interested in analysis on the ableist undertones of early solangelo and the blatant ableism of solangelo shippers from an actual disabled person, @ursie is a great place to go. xe makes very good posts that actually opened my eyes to a lot of this stuff.

as for fan discussion posts there’s a really good post somewhere that covers nearly all of the problematic elements of rick’s writing when it comes to his minority characters, i’ll try my best to find it. if anybody has any good posts they’d like to share, feel free to leave them here.

as for what i’d add, all i will say is just do your best to listen. it can be hard to hear criticism of something you love, but don’t take it as a personal attack. actually take your time to process the information, and then think about what you can do to make this fandom a more safe and accepting space for disabled people, poc, and more. we’re all here because we love this world and these characters, but those things are far from perfect.

and have fun!! find people who have the same favorite characters as you and spend hours brainrotting about them and ignoring half of canon. it’s therapeutic

Even the most entertaining of hunts must come to an end. Otherwise, the thrill of the case turns duller and duller until all amusement is gone. If it were up to Fen, she would let her current source of amusement chase until he could not anymore, but he is growing tired of the chase. Frustrated by the many near misses. He has no supernatural abilities to fall back to, no magic to use for his benefit, no millennia of experience. The thief was simply too human to win against her, but frustrating him into giving up isn't what she wants.

Rather the opposite, in fact. She finds the handsome thief far too entertaining to stop just yet. And yet, time passes, and her Court needs her. She has been away for six months, a blink on the Eladrin's lifespan, but it is six months too long. She misses the browning leaves and the wildlife that followed her guide. She misses what few family that she still has.

It's time for their hunts grand finale, and what better way for things to end than for the thief to finally win against the stranger that had been stealing his loot for the last few months?

She waits until he has gone inside to follow, steps a touch too careless, too human for her licking. And yet, she has a role to play and she will play it to perfection.

"Oh, shite," she curses as she pretends to notice his presence inside the house. Her amusement is immediate, and she almost snorts, imagining what Dirth would say if he heard her swear. "How did you get here so fast?

How about Port? How would be his relationship with his Estados?

I guess the closest we have to your Estados are our Distritos.

I think he gets along very well with all Distritos, they have always been a very united front, all very proud of being part of Portugal.

He's closest to the Costal distritos (obviously) than the interior ones, who sometimes feel a bit negleted. There is also a bit of resentment towards Lisboa because she gets most of the attention and money as the capital.

- Lisboa and Porto are his right and left hands, and they're bitter rivals. Porto considers himself the worker, while Lisboa is the burocratic/business type.

- Braga is the oldest and yet the more youthful distrito, she's both great at parties, very Catholic and proud of her Roman heritage.

- Bragança, Castelo Branco, Guarda and Portalegre feel often left out, they're in the interior, near the border, and are very proud of their traditions.

- Coimbra is known as the intelectual one, it's the university distrito because of her centuries old university.

- Leiria is very proud of her beaches and is a very good surfer. There's a popular meme going around saying Leiria doesn't exist which really pisses her off.

- Beja and Setúbal are super laid back and like to enjoy life at their own pace.

- Algarve is the tourism distrito, he deals with most of the foreigners who want to go to his beaches. He's Arthur's favorite and speaks almost as much English as he does Portuguese. He's also the one who resembles Al-Andalus more (last territory conquered).

- Açores is a good boy, hard working, loves to take care of his cows. Port likes to joke that he's baby he had after his threesome with Belgium and Netherlands. He and his twin sister Madeira suffered for a while because they're arquipelagos very far away from the "continente", which resulted in them living on their own. They're authonomous regions, so they mainly rule themselves.

- Madeira had an independent phase that no one took seriously, every time she brings it up, Afonso just asks how she plans to live on her own and she drops it. She was raised by Port and Arthur so she can be a bit beligerant, but super feminine (loves her flowers). She also resents Brazil for taking away her sugar cane business and 'stealing' her Poncha recipe (Brazil's caipirinha).

In general there are also a lot of things. I'd love to (be able to) draw sceneries that depict a mood and you feel transported to. Also scenery pictures with people/characters in them. I've only just begun to work and learn about how to use lightning and shading and I would love to one day be able to make someone actually feel something when looking at it. The way there is long though. 😂

On a different note - I'd also love to be able to draw something nsfw at some point without combusting with embarrassment. 😂 I have something in mind, let's see if I ever get there.

6. Which artists inspire you right now?

That's such an unexpectedly hard question... My love will always be with the Impressionists, especially Monet and Van Gogh. I also absolutely adore Art Nouveau currently and also Klimt. There are artists from this fandom that I absolutely adore and some that I just found through Instagram or on here. I'm inspired by art in general a lot, without attaching it to a certain artist. But I think what stood out to me recently is how much I now focus on colors.

7. Favourite works of all time excluding your own?

And here I thought the question before was hard. 😂 Wow, that threw me for such a loop. But I think as much as I'd like to have a more unique approach, I have to name Starry Night as one. I spent hours in Van Gogh's museum in Amsterdam and I would go there again in a heartbeat. Also "Wanderer über dem Nebelmeer/Wanderer above the sea fog" by Caspar David Friedrich immediately came to my mind, that was one I was completely drawn to in school. And honestly I can't settle on one by an impressionist. 😂 I will probably kick myself as soon as I post it when I remember all the thousand others I like. But I'll stay with the basics. Melancholy is a big draw for me apparently.

8. What do you like most about your own work?

Okay, this might be the thoughest question yet. But actually I like that I'm not too afraid to use colors anymore and would rather go overboard then keep it too muted. I just love colors.

I also really like the progress I've made over the past year. Last year this time I wasn't even drawing digitally yet (or drawing anything past the occasional sketch). So I think I've come quite far, even though I obviously still have a long journey ahead of me.

Also I really like my Damen? 😂 I was scared to draw muscled men last year and I think I'm doing quite okay on that front. My take on Laurent is falling behind for this cause, but you gotta do what you gotta do. 💪
