the only thing i realistically have going on is the rogue Tav/ Rugan fic going on and I don't have anything new to share on that yet except what i already shared on the horny Rugan server unfortunately. Cian sits idly on a cargo box, one of the ones he hadn't tried to break into since it was nailed securely shut. While he is grateful for the fresh air, the sunlight hurts his eyes after being in the near dark for so long. His left eye is starting to swell shut and his ribs hurt when he breaths too deeply. He’s lucky that’s the worst of it, and at least he isn’t tied to that horrible splinter ridden chair anymore. The ropes had left raw marks on his wrists, and his throat was uncomfortably dry.

The thief is flanked on either side by two men who call each other brother, though they look almost nothing alike. He’s pretty sure one of them is the one who beat him into unconsciousness. They stand crossbow and longbow in hand, no doubt ready to take him out if he tries to run for it. For now they aren’t being particularly aggressive, chatting over Cian’s head about some inside joke about artists.

The rest of the Zhentarim crew are off to the side polishing weapons and feeding wolves. Or gathering firewood from the abandoned shack Cian had just been released from. The atmosphere is tense, they are all waiting for the conversation on the other end of the clearing to end.

The man who had been interrogating him, and the woman who was very clearly in charge were having a heated argument. It was clear Cian was the source of the dispute, the woman pointing in his direction while yelling in Rugan’s face. She was shouting now her voice carrying over with snippets of “you bleedin’ idiot!” and “you ought to know better!”

Rugan seemed remarkably unfazed, keeping his voice level. He looked calm, trying to make a case for the deal he stuck with Cian earlier. It didn’t seem to be the first time they’d been at odds like this.

“Oh Zarys is pissed.” The more ginger haired man said with a sigh. The other man hummed in agreement.

All Cian could do was wait, and hope that Rugan was as persuasive with his boss as he was with his prisoners.

Dr. Julia Ogden, Murdoch Mysteries: She's Toronto's coroner in 1895, and helps solve many many murders. She also becomes a psychologist and a surgeon, and helps the suffragettes. As a woman, at the turn of the 20th century. She also learns to fight in many layers of dress

Naomi Nagata, The Expanse: There is nothing that this woman can't build, fix, or frankenstein. Also, she survived being thrown out of an airlock by knowing (better than the person who threw her out) what to do in the vacuum of space. She fights with all that she has, and leaves no one behind, and has the biggest heart and heaviest conscience of them all.

Garnet, Steven Universe: Garnet can see into the future! She leads the whole team! She can punch anything into submission AND throw in one-liners when you least expect them!

Death of the Endless, The Sandman: Death of the Endless is the anthropomorphic personification of the concept of death, and she is literally the best at her job, i.e. carrying, ferrying or otherwise welcoming souls of the dead to their chosen afterlife, colloquially known in Sandmanverse as the Sunless Lands. Her duty is everything to her and about her, though Death also adores her siblings equally, even if she's very busy all the time; as she put it most poetically, "When the first living thing existed, I was there waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job will be finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave." And her vibes are SO. FRICKIN. FUN.

Zari Tarazi, DC: Zari doesn’t need a superpower or combat training for success because she has social skills that rival next to none. She knows her femininity can cause people to underestimate her so she uses it to influence her way in to places most other heroes would need force to access. Her deep understanding of people has helped save the world more than once while running a successful business besides.

Allison Blake, A Town Called EUReKA: Allison was a Department of Defense agent working as a government liaison between Eureka and the Pentagon. She was once a medical doctor and has 2 PhDs. At one point she oversees the main laboratories of Eureka, at another she's Director of Operations for Global Dynamics.

Bad Wolf, Doctor Who: Controls all of time and space, makes Jack immortal, disintegrates the Dalek fleet, is the intelligence of The Moment and is always protecting the Doctor.

What's your AO3 word count? Just shy of 366,000

What fandoms do you write for? I started out doing most of my writing for The Flash/Arrowverse, but most recently have moved on to writing primarily for Stranger Things, Ted Lasso, 9-1-1, and Teen Wolf

What are your top five fics by kudos? 1. Turn And Face The Strange (Stranger Things, Stoncy) 2. All On The Line (9-1-1, Buddie) 3. Do you respond to comments? I do! I kinda never shut up about how important comments are to a fandom's ecosystem, so when I get them, I answer back!

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I don't usually end fics in full angst mode, but maybe the fic with the most bittersweet ending is Unfair. It's a SethKate (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) fic set in the aftermath of a sex pollen situation that leaves them both hurt and vulnerable. But there's still that nugget of hope, because they're hurt and vulnerable together.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? If I'm going for not just pure fluff factor, but how satisfying the happy ending is in the context of the rest of the fic/the source material, I would say Maybe We'll Get Forty Years Together which is a Jamie/Keeley/Roy future fic set during their wedding where Jamie has a chance to hash things out with his father.

Do you get hate on fics? Every once in a blue moon. I write a lot of polyships, and sometimes those polyships are an amalgamation of two sides of a ship war, and people have opinions about that lol. But generally, no.

Do you write smut? What kind? Sure do! I'd say it's what I write primarily. Generally, I write smut with feelings, or angsty smut. Sometimes it's definitely just smut for smut's sake though, which is also fun! I'm a big supporter of being horny on main.

Do you write cross-overs? I don't. The closest I've gotten is writing an AU based on another tv/show. I don't dislike them in principle, I've just never written one myself.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Yes! Someone stole Taste of Your Lips (I'm On A Ride) and changed it from the original pairing of Zari/Amaya from Legends of Tomorrow to a Lauren/Camilla RPF and posted it on Wattpad. I'm very grateful to the person who messaged me on Tumblr to let me know, because the thief did take it down when I confronted them about it.

Have you ever had a fic translated? I have, and it's really cool to have been asked. My Buddie fic Exploration has been translated to Chinese.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Not exactly. I was part of a multi-creator rewrite for season 2 of Legends of Tomorrow, which involved re-plotting and re-drafting as a group, so you could technically count Episode 2: Crisis and Faith.

What's your all-time favourite ship? I'm actually gonna have the dumbest answer for this question because it's a ship I've never written for, probably never will, and don't even really read, but it's Frank Castle and Karen Page from Daredevil/The Punisher. Their dynamic is just exactly what I want out of a ship. No notes.

What's a WIP you'd like to finish, but doubt you ever will? I have an Abby/Buck/Eddie fic that's on permanent hiatus that I almost certainly will never finish, especially because, in working on it, it started to splinter off a lot of ideas and dynamics and scenes I actually want to use for an original novel someday, so I don't see myself ever completing it. I would like to finish that novel though lol.

What are your writing strengths? I think I always feel most proud of my characterization being pretty on point, and I get enough comments to that effect that I don't think I'm just making that up. I also think I'm good at writing in small details that seem minor but make an impact.

What are your writing weaknesses? I fizzle out! I don't have good stamina to go back to something if it's gonna take me more than one sitting to write, which is why most of my stuff falls in the 2-4k range. I also lose steam without feedback and encouragement. My educational background is in creative writing, and I've been a long-time member of fandom, plus part of writer's groups even before then, so the idea of writing being a solitary thing is kinda wild to me.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? To each their own for this. For me, personally, I'll use a word or a very small sentence I'm reasonably confident is correct in a fic, but for longer sentences, I would write in English and just indicate it was said in another language in the dialogue tag. Plus, even if it was a language I do speak fluently like Frech, it doesn't mean readers do, so I think English is still the way to go.

First fandom you wrote for? So, if we're talking first fic ever, we have to go back to when I was five and six years old and I would make little "books" out of folded index cards where I'd write stories about Sailor Moon or Cardcaptors. My first fic on the Internet was back in my FF.net days, and it was a Kyoya/Haruhi fic for Ouran High School Host Club. My first fic on AO3 was actually a multi-chapter Sterek fic that was never completed and that I've since taken down. The oldest fic of mine you can still find posted on AO3 is a multi-chapter Coldflash fic We Could Keep Things Just The Same, the first chapter of which was posted on February 24th, 2016!

Favourite fic you've ever written? I still feel like I've never topped There's a Menace In My Bed; Can You See His Silhouette. There are some edits I might go back and make with my extra eight (EIGHT!?!) years of writing experience, but the core of what that fic accomplishes? The delicious angst? The emotional minefield of dubious consent/sex pollen/fuck-or-die? The smut as character study? The caretaking? This just hit on a lot of things I like, and I'm really proud of it even all these years later.

For the HC ask game, here’s a twofer, if you’re up for it: ColdWave + candy, and Spooner + perfume.

Have I shared this ColdWave sweets headcanon yet? It might - might - be based on the real life of me and the spouse. Not that that’s where I get half my ColdWave ideas, or anything. (Just don’t ask which of us is Mick and which of us is Len. Please.)

ColdWave + Candy

[The POV switch in the middle of this is totally fine because this is a headcanon not a ficlet and that’s my story and I’m sticking to it]

Mick likes sweet treats.

‘Likes’ may be an understatement. He can’t resist them. Literally can’t resist.

Sometimes, when Len gets up in the middle of the night for water, he finds Mick at the kitchen table, surrounded by empty boxes of Oreos and Chips Ahoy, halfway through the biggest Hershey bar Len’s ever seen. And Len just sighs and says, “I’ll find a better hiding place for the sweet shit.”

Mick reminds Len of a parrot that Lisa once persuaded him to buy for her. The bastard bird ate every bit of sweet food it could get its mean little talons on, wherever it was hidden in their tiny apartment. Len had to lock all the sweets away - literally, after the asshole learned how to open cabinet doors. The damn parrot lasted a few months, before Len told Lisa to find another home for it, and one of her friends took pity on her and adopted it. She wasn’t exactly heartbroken. She missed ice cream and chocolate.

Alas, Len can’t rehome Mick.

Not that he’d want to.

…Not most of the time.

So that’s how the tradition of the Secret Candy Stash is born. Len hides the candy. Mick gets to ask for a little candy at a time. Mick hates this, and is forever trying to defeat the system. But the latest hiding place has been working surprisingly well, for a few weeks now. Len had a brainwave about where to hide the stash this time. They’re not for nothing, his planning skills. Admittedly, they weren’t really meant for hiding food from Mick Rory, but they seem to be holding up.

Until Mick storms into the kitchen one day, and swipes half of Len’s blueprints off the table with a single sweep of his admittedly large hand. “That’s where you hid the candy?”

Len starts picking up papers. “Found the latest hiding spot, then?”

“It’s the damn hall closet!” Mick roars. “Right under my coat!”

“Indeed,” Len agrees. “Right under your nose, one might say. In a nondescript box that used to hold a pair of my shoes.” He turns his full attention back to his blueprints. “Ah well. I’ll just have to find somewhere else.”

Mick stomps back out of the room, muttering about how he’ll get Len back for this. Len just chuckles. Of course he won’t.

It gets better. Mick can’t find the next hiding place, no matter how many closets and cabinets he empties, roaring about how he needs candy.

“Go to the store,” Len drawls, smirking. Mick will not go to the store. Mick can never be bothered. It’s why the system works so well.

Mick stares daggers at him for a minute, and then stomps away again.

But it’s only a matter of time.

One day, Mick is looking for a pair of shoes in the hall closet, and comes across… the blessed, coveted, wonderful Secret Candy Stash. As he stares at the unburied treasure, he’d swear he can hear angels singing somewhere.

And then it hits him. The stash is the same spot as before. In the same box as before. Oh, sure, it’s a little further back in the closet, in the dark, but that’s the only effort Len has bothered to go to. “Does he think I’m that dumb?” Mick mutters. He prepares himself to rage at Len about how he should know better than to fall for Mick’s brainless act and underestimate him.

A second later, Mick realises how he can use this to his advantage. If not forever, then for a very long time.

Passing Len in the living room, Mick shoots him a very smug grin.

“What?” Len asks, his eyes suddenly narrow and shifty.

“Oh, nothing.”

Len looks at him in abject terror, but Mick isn’t letting go of this secret.

Carefully, slowly, a little at a time, Mick steals treats from the hiding place. Free access to candy, whenever he wants it. No killjoys to tell him “You’re going to ruin your dinner, Mick” or “You had candy yesterday, Mick,” as if any of that matters. He gets away with it for a hell of a lot longer than he thinks he’s going to.

Well, he is a very good thief.

When Len finally notices, there’s hell to pay. And never was anything more worth it.

Spooner + Perfume

She hates the stuff.

If it’s not bad enough that it sets off her chemical sensitivities and chronic fatigue, it gives her sensory overload, too. The days she has to spend lying in the dark to get over it all? Not worth someone else’s enjoyment of a damn smell.

She warns the Legends about this when she arrives on board. They promise to try to remember. And, to be fair, they do their best. Sometimes Spooner walks into the fabrication room after a mission in the 1950s, and she can tell it’s slipped someone’s mind, too focused on wearing an ‘era accurate’ outfit, complete with scent. But most of the time, the ship is a blissful perfume-free zone. It’s a relief, and one more way Spooner knows the Legends really want her to stay.

And then one day she’s waiting in line for the bathroom. Zari disappeared in there just as Spooner was arriving, so she knows she might be waiting a minute. She’s leaning against the wall, staring up at the ceiling, and thinking of asking Gideon to play the next episode of the zombie horror podcast she’s been listening to, when she gets the whiff of a damn scent. Honestly, Zari and her perfect outfits - she’s probably got so focused on looking good, she’s forgotten about—

Spooner blinks. That’s not just any scent. Whatever it is, it sends her tumbling back to childhood. Before Texas, even, when her mother didn’t know about Esperanza’s problems with perfume yet. Back when Spooner was tiny.

“Zari,” she calls out, “what perfume is that?”

There’s a pause. Then there’s a sound like a hand slapping a head, and Zari snaps, “Oh shit.”

Spooner snorts. Poor Zari. “It’s fine, Z. I mean, it’s not fine - you’re an asshole - but you just forgot.“

“I did!” Zari squeaks through the door. “I’m so sorry, Spooner—”

Over the sound of running water, Zari calls back, “Oh, right. It’s Chanel number 5. A classic. You know they started making this in the 1920s? I used to love it, but then they stopped making it, in my time - silly perfume trends and people thinking it was for old ladies - so when I got here I…”

Spooner stops listening, and just lets Zari’s words wash over her like the water that she can still hear running, and drifts away a little.

We can’t afford this, Celso.

Oh, don’t you worry about that, Gloria, sweetheart. It’s the new one you liked in the store, see? Now you smell as wonderful as you look. Doesn’t Mami smell beautiful, Esperanza?

It’s a full ten minutes before Zari finishes blowing all the perfume out of the bathroom with the air totem. Mostly to preserve her image, Spooner yells at her to get the fuck out of there. When Zari finally scuttles out, Spooner shoots her a grin. “Thanks for cleaning up in there.”

“Least I could do,” Zari shoots over her shoulder, from down the hallway.

“Yes, it damn well was.” And she steps into the - thankfully scent-less - bathroom, chuckling. Maybe a little wistfully.

Character Parallels: Chase vs Julia

First off, let me start with:

SEASON 3 SPOILER WARNING.

This is somewhat a continuation from my original Chase Devineaux Case Study I did a while back. Feel free to read it to fully understand the context behind my opinions and thoughts on Chase, Julia and such discussed below. Let’s begin.

Although Season 3 was short, it was still a season that provided us with a new potential story catalyst to propel the plot in the form of major character development.

A bit of context:

Throughout the series, Chase Devineaux was always sceptical and often outright against the idea that Carmen Sandiego could have ulterior motives (due to his ill-fated meetings with the said person driving that home and on the surface she literally is stealing), an idea his previous partner, Julia Argent, was the spokesperson for. To quote a long story short, Chase was not too pleased or in agreement with the idea proposed by Julia: Carmen Sandiego isn’t the real enemy. Others shunned this idea too (Zari & Chief) and consistently was never outright ‘proved’ from a physical evidence standpoint. Both stood on opposite ends of the ‘who really is Carmen Sandiego’ spectrum. This was the major theme of division between Chase and Julia, a plot point further driven by the unlucky streak he suffered when dealing with Team Red, and VILE. Mostly he, and ACME, could not separate the entities completely, even up until the end of Season 3.

In the S03E04, ‘The Masks of Venice Caper’, after 3 seasons of being moments away from Carmen Sandiego at every step, Chase succeeds. After a long and clearly exhausting chase throughout the streets of Venice, he is able to finally catch up.

He leaps aboard after making the jump and officially bears witness to the handing over of goods, something which Julia was only ever afforded. Chase is blindsided at her easy surrender, simple innocent explanation and instantly clean escape. He does not go after her, instead stands bewildered at what she said, leaving him with the important line of: ‘Jules would understand’, (because she would with her prior knowledge and experience), to digest what just occurred.

This was not what he was expecting, as on other occasions they met him with hostility or evasion without explanation. Instead, he is treated as if he were Julia, filling the role as a substitute, as she is no longer on the scene to be the recipient of the ‘handoff’. At this moment, thanks to Carmen’s finale line, it all clicks. Previous conversations run through his mind, visibly questioning, as he makes the connection before being interrupted by Agent Zari, congratulating him on stopping the robbery.

The confirmation that he finally gets it is reaffirmed by a theme of a ‘silent partner’ which he now uses himself with commenting, awkwardly, that ‘I did not do it alone’ (A call back to S01E09, see below). This is the formal affirmation that he now understands that Carmen is not the enemy. There was no way he would have ever connected the dots without visual verification, experiencing it for himself first hand, a situation Julia experienced multiple times by fortune, something people forget when watching him grapple with his inability to detain the ‘thief’. Julia was provided with many chances throughout season 1-2 to work with or in situational coincidence with Carmen and aid in the protection of potential goods in harm’s way. (Most notably S02E04)

Julia’s departure, though disappointing to fans (and myself), was a crucial plot device to enable Chase to be finally exposed to the events which would lead him to change his mind for the better. Unless by some miracle he was chosen as the recipient of Team Red’s well wishes with Julia on the scene and/or in tow, it would have taken far longer for the realisation to be made. An understanding that is only able to be fully recognised by Julia and Chase. The only two people around long enough and familiar enough with Carmen Sandiego and the entire case to be in any position to come to the right conclusion about her intentions.

As many may say, seeing is believing. And seeing was what he needed to believe, both Chase and Julia needing that direct witnessing to understand. Seems the red lining of his original coat meant something after all.

(Do note: Julia was more inclined and susceptible to a conflicting opinion due to her heightened observation skills from the get-go but still needed visual confirmation, which she got, to stand strong with her diverging opinion on Carmen Sandiego.)

The Parallels:

In the next and final episode of S03E05, "The Jolly Good Show Caper", we are greeted with a callback to S01E03’s episode "The Sticky Rice Caper". Instead of Chase and Julia being on their way to interrogate Gray in the Paris Interpol office, Agent Zari and Chase are walking through the halls of the Italian Interpol office to interrogate their latest captured VILE operative, Neal the Eel. From a clearly visual standpoint (see below), the makeup of the scene and placement of characters is a direct callback to the dynamic between both Chase and Julia, and now between Chase and Zari.

Chase now takes the place of Julia, physically and mentally, who listens to a rundown of the situation, proposes a vague counter-argument which is disregarded by Zari. Chase is now wanting to look beneath the surface of the robbery or incident (like Julia always did), unlike before. Similar to the situation in S01E03, Zari is unwavering in her opinion that Carmen and the new detainee are in cahoots, Chase stating that his previous statement was merely ‘entertaining all possible angles’, a comment he further elaborates on to Chief at the end of the episode.

After coming to the interrogation room, Zari dramatically pushes it open in the same style as Chase did seasons earlier, halting her statement to reveal the suspect has ‘escaped’. Zari is stumped, Chase not too phased at this revelation and quickly checks the documents to understand what has occurred, once again.

Chase again, takes the stance of the ‘Julia’, all-knowing and proceeds to correctly recount the possible scenario that they have found themselves in, having experienced this once before. This ‘recounting of events’ is confirmed to the audience by Chase’s voice monologuing of sorts over an escaping by boat, Neal.

This scene is interesting for obvious reasons: it’s a direct call back to a later episode and the dynamic within. It is also a pivotal moment we see that Chase was always fully aware of what is happening around him, and really only required the correct pieces to fall into his lap at all the right times to now be the new ‘Julia’ in the dynamic. That style of a sequence of events is what helped Julia see the truth in Carmen’s actions in the first place. Chase has always been cognizant of the events around him, even if they could be contradictory to his main beliefs. Actively choosing not to present it to the audience, in favor of the popular opinion presented by and through ACME, their agents their leader that Carmen Sandiego is the enemy. Half of this being pressure, wanting to succeed in his work, gain praise for it and lack thereof witnessing first hand some sort of ‘positive’ reaffirmation of Carmen’s good intentions and that he really thought he was right. We see this through his sheer self disappointment and embarrassment when facing Chief after mistakes he had no true control over.

Towards the end of the same episode. Carmen is ‘captured’ in London. Agent Zari and Chase receive this development while travelling, Chase jumping out of his seat surprised, shocked, concerned that she was detained saying ‘that is terrible!’. Zari is notable taken aback, Chase quickly tries to collect himself and adjusts his statement and ends with ‘that. we were not the ones to make the arrest.’ Time has passed since the escape of Neal, Chase left to stew with his changing opinions and it clearly appears as if he no longer wishes for Carmen’s capture in the traditional sense, knowing that what she has been doing, is not criminally based. It’s unsure what his plans are when facing Carmen once again, but it at the very least no longer her capture.

Not only are Chase and Julia’s mindsets on the same path, but Chase is also no longer the driver between the pair. A fun nod to how Chase always drove, if dangerously at times.

After events unfold, Chase and Zari soon discover the planted crown jewels in Roundabouts office after a tip off, they run to retrieve them and Chase stops to glance out the window, witnessing Carmen Sandiego flying away from the scene. This is important, if a small detail, in once again showing us he has changed. He is far more observant and is the new candidate to witness the usual things Julia would if she were there. He stopped, was in the right place at the right time, recognised first hand the role Carmen plays in the grand scene of things, as a protector who runs interference.

When things have seemingly been resolved, Chase and Zari are in conference with Chief who details how she deems that it was all an elaborate plan where Roundabout and Carmen were in cahoots. In what is shown to be his first moment ever displaying his new and differing opinions to Chief on the events prior, he details how, maybe, Carmen left the items here for them to discover purposefully. Chief glares at him silently, Chase displaying an awkward reluctant smile, then ignores his opinion moving on. She informs him that it is his job to interrogate Roundabout for answers on how Carmen is connected to him, disregarding his prior though they are not united until Zari receives a phone call. They are informed that Roundabout never reached the destination and has escaped.

A Sum Up:

In conclusion, Chase has officially changed opinions on Carmen Sandiego and has fallen into the role Julia left for him when she departed from ACME. Even with the pre-existing knowledge of the hacking by Player and all other indiscretions against him perpetrated by Team Red. He has been through a journey and come out the end with a new perspective

Agent Zari has now acted as both Julia’s and now Chase’s, well ‘Chase’, when it comes to the dynamic of the pairing. In many instances when consulting Chief, Julia has been informed to essentially ‘do her job’ or is only half-listen too, in a subtle way, instead of coming up with theories that don’t necessarily correlate with the majority. This all comes ahead in S03E02 ‘The Day of the Dead Caper’, where Chief is finally blunt with Julia (see below). The same thing has now befallen Chase (see below), except with little to no lead up to instant rejection. All of Chief’s patience for differing opinions was used up, all on Julia it appears.

The summation of all this produces a new defender of Carmen Sandiego; Chase Devineaux. The likely future outcome will be Chase attempting to contact, seek an audience with Carmen as Julia once attempted, and would succeeded in part from time to time. It is unlikely how well this will go considering Chase and is usually outwardly expressive with his determination to arrest her. One can only hope he is given a chance to rectify his past miscalculations and is able to further support these new set beliefs to ACME, Carmen Sandiego and himself. 

One can also hope Julia returns, maybe by a proposition from Chase, who will no doubt have trouble enacting his new purpose of true justice, and seeking answers/help from Carmen Sandiego. This would also promote a chance for an adult discussion, an apology, one sorely lacking in Season 3 between them. With this new air of familiarity between their opinions on Carmen, a rare opinion it appears, a chance for a reformation of a proper team dynamic is possible.

They lacked a connection throughout season 1 and 2 which aided in their bitter union, both full-heartedly, if not realised or intentional, determined to have their opinion victorious over the other to themselves and to those around them. Chase far more openly critical and cynical, Julia keeping such comments more hidden and modest, but also far more willing to stand up for herself to and in front of Chief. (Prominent examples seen in S02E02,4 & 8, S03E02) Chase was aware of his poor behaviour but found it justified in a sense that he truly believed she was misguided, that he was correct about Carmen Sandiego, now knowing she clearly was right all along. (This does not excuse/justify his rudeness in any sense, but can explain it.)

They would be a great team, now finally on the same page but unfortunately separated. Julia has the nohow and Chase possess the drive to make it happen. They do share those traits, each more natural at one over the other. Neither are willing to give up without a fair fight, and proudly declare and justify themselves at every turn, both proud individuals. (Julia far more modest in comparison). If they worked together, who knows the possibilities, if they can change ACME’s stance on Carmen Sandiego or if they decide to abandon it altogether and aid the other fighter of VILE, Team Red. Either way, it was clear Julia could not do it all on her own and I’m sure we will see Chase realise and suffer the same fate. Hopefully reasoning that he needs help, not getting it to form anyone else, remembering Julia, seeking her out and bringing her back to ACME.

Her reason for leaving ACME was that her heart was no longer in it, her passion snubbed out. Her work now directly contradicts her beliefs which are doubted by all those around her at every turn.

A sad but visibly true thing as no one else in ACME was willing to consider her way any longer, her opinion not shared by anyone else, a very demoralising thing to go through. She was always fighting and standing up on her own.

With Chase now sharing this opinion, the burden of seeing and knowing the truth, it will be easier to stand behind with full conviction, to attempt to highlight the innocence Carmen Sandiego has hidden in plain sight, together. Only time will tell how it all plays out.

Until she gets to chapter 4.

Each chapter shows the point of view of a different character; which means each chapter is a different love story. She figures out on chapter 2 these are the could've beens who came and went from the Waverider. Chapter 1 is the hit man and the mob boss. Chapter 2? The non-subtle thief and assassin. Chapter 3 was the boy with a heart of gold and the street rat.

Chapter 4 is the inventor and the hacker.
