In wake of the stupid shitshow that is this dumb coronation, I saw someone going 'oh protests are illegal in the UK? Ireland we've got to get you out of there' and I've seen a lot of other stuff to that effect of 'oh poor Wales', or 'get out of there Scotland' (from people outside the UK) and like!!! people in England are also suffering this impacts people in England!

I agree and fully support all kinds of independence for the other countries in this shitshow of a nation- do not twist my words with this one, I support independence, and when I see folks from those countries only talking about this, obviously I support them because their primary concern is independence.

But!! It's fucking infuriating to see people from outside the UK acting like the other countries just have to get out of the UK and then no more innocent people will suffer, as if that's the only problem, as if there aren't plenty of people in England who don't deserve this nonsense either

There's something I realised about Crystal that might have been obvious but flew over my head the first time I watched.

There were always moments where she was a little frustrating when it came to her laying out her trauma any moment she gets. I realised I wasn't alone on this as I watched the show again with my friends and they reacted the same way. I found myself asking why she's always just trauma dumping the moment she gets the chance to and why she seems to lash out at a lot of people (like that moment where she wants to go to hell with Charles to save Edwin) and end up putting herself in danger. She's also hypocritical at times like the moment when she snaps at Edwin as he compares his trauma to hers.

I was trying to think of why exactly she acted like that and then I got it.

Unlike Edwin and Charles (who are ghosts and have existed for way longer than 16 years to the point they're not really 16 year olds (not the way they look, act or their supernatural age)) Crystal is literally just a 16 year old! Sure she doesn't look like that cause the actress is older but she does act like that! She acts like a very moody teen and it makes sense.

Imagine you lost your memories to a toxic demon ex and basically had to start fresh on your personality with the combo of being a hormonal teen. It's not easy being a teen already but now there's this additional layer.

Ofc Crystal would be hypocritical, ofc she would vent a lot to try and process everything, ofc she would lash out at people for not letting her do what she deems as helpful.

She is just a teen! And honestly I love that writing, because it does show the contrast between the entire gang. They're all supposed to look like teens in story but it all depends on how long they've existed, how emotionally mature they are from the get-go and how trauma affected them.

I LIKE the conflict in apple woods!!! #hero and partner being punished so something they didn’t do! #the misunderstanding! how team skull (Skuntank) actually outplays the main duo with a clever yet rotten trick. I LOVE that it segways into- #one of the more sweeter scenes of guild members looking out for eachother. I LIKE APPLE WOODS CONFLICT. #but chatot just. not giving them a chance. is so dumb. #I’d personally fix this by having a lil montage of hero/partner fucking up on jobs. I legit dont mind him during that chapter except for that really stupid and frustrating moment. #NOW. sjm is literally known as the fated mates author of today's fantasy space. she loves the trope, nearly every single one of her endgame ships are mates, and if they're not confirmed it's highly speculated they are (manorian). hell, even her human ships can have magical bonds that tie them to another person, for better or worse (chaorene). she likes her characters to have this connection, for them to find their own, special person that was meant for them and to help them grow and flourish. even if she has elain reject the bond, i can totally see her making her fall in love with lucien anyway, because that would be playing with it, right? and giving readers something unexpected, something e/riels claim they want

but at the end of the day, it's not about the bond, that's just a device to get characters closer to each other. sjm has always been about choice and like it or not, lucien is a choice for elain. she's been making choices, no one has stripped that from her since hybern kidnapped her. stop acting like shippers are taking away a fictional woman's rights for wanting her with her mate
