when a man who listens to the smashing pumpkins and nirvana but doesn’t listen to hole tries to tell you that billy corgan/kurt cobain wrote all of hole’s music, even though all three of those bands had different styles and they don’t know the history and courtney’s writing could have NEVER been done by a man.

i fundamentally think that it’s funnier when taylor swift haters are informed about the things she’s doing. like there’s making fun of a popular artist which is a time honored tradition, and plenty of legitimate critiques of her as a public figure and the private jet and all that. but then you get people making up fake lyrics when the real ones are much funnier. i know in my heart of hearts that if the right person got a hold of the song evermore which has the lyric “motion capture put me in a bad light” which is undoubtedly a reference to her role in cats 2019 the internet would never be the same

Not me talking so much about mcr that my friends actually end up listening to their music, whilst going "I thought it was going to be cringe, but they're actually good musicians."
And I'm just like, "Yes!!! I've been saying that for a few years now!!!!!!!!!"

Music I think Roy Kent likes and why
Madonna. In season 3, episode 3, Roy said, "[Pre-Madonna] means before Madonna, female vocalists didn't have to work that hard." This implies a great respect for Madonna and her craft. Also, it's an example of a very specific kind of queer guy misogyny that I find very humorous and implicative (of him being queer).
The Sex Pistols (and other punk rock). Two of their songs are in the Ted Lasso soundtrack. One of them specifically plays when Roy is about to do some pundit work for the first time. I think it's meant to be his hype up music. They're also, of course, anti-fascist and anti-monarchy, which I think Roy would vibe with. He's giving punk.
The music of the Muppets. Canonically (not that I necessarily consider this kind of thing canon, lol) a Muppets fan, I think he'd love the soundtracks to the movies, as well as the numbers they do on the original show.
Rap; Salt-n-Pepa, Queen Latifah, and Beyoncé. I just think he would like them. In season 1, episode 6, Keeley mentions that he has rapped, implying at least some interest in the genre.
Leonard Cohen. I think Roy's Jewish, and he's a broody, sensual bitch. It adds up perfectly. Sidenote: while "She's a Rainbow" by the Rolling Stones was a great choice for the song he runs home to football to, I think Cohen's "Ain't No Cure for Love" would've fucking slayyyed..."I loved you for a long, long time / I know this love is real / It don't matter how it all went wrong / That don't change the way I feel / And I can't believe that time is gonna heal / This wound that I'm speaking of" "I've got you like a habit / And I'll never get enough" "I don't need to be forgiven / For loving you so much"
Klezmer. Again, if Roy is Jewish, and we know he loves and misses his grandad...it's simple. He HAS a record player and a dope sound system, and on his shelves there ARE old klezmer records that he remembers dancing around to with his grandad in their old flat.
Amy Winehouse. Again, if Roy is Jewish, and we know he is broody and bitchy, it is a given. "Rehab" is his anthem when his knee gets bad and he is reluctant to treat it.
Disco; Donna Summer and Jessie Ware. It's just great workout music, and it slays, and if he's queer, well, yes, of course he likes disco.
Pop rock; Elton John and Queen. If he's queer...it's a given. I think he particularly likes "I Think I'm Going to Kill Myself" and "Rocket Man", as he is suicidal (I can't find the interview where Goldstein said this) (it's just Word of God anyway), and the most rocket man motherfucker ever.
The music of the people he loves; Led Zeppelin, Cream, Tina Turner, and Stevie Nicks. Phoebe, Keeley, and Jamie like these musicians. He's a caring uncle, boyfriend, and friend. He is listening and learning. Also, I think Phoebe would be into some weird stuff, like outsider music - maybe some Tiny Tim. I think Roy would also enjoy the music of other friends, from plenty of other genres.

I'm gonna let yall in on some peak advice.
This is TUMBLR DOT COM. Don't take the stuff you see seriously here. Thirst over (age appropriate) people, be weird and horny on main, who gives a shit?
And most importantly: if you see something you don't like: block, report, and move on with your day because at the end of the day, if you can log off and it's not effecting your irl, then it doesn't matter.

yesterday i saw a person on twitter saying that they don’t consider musicians “artists” because they have big team being them who does the production of everything and etc and it’s so insane how… there’s still this misconception that if you are a musician and you put out music you must be rich which… very untrue! also small musicians don’t have a team behind them to make their music they usually do everything themselves and even if an artists is big most of the time they also contribute to their art by writing the lyrics and coming up with the idea of the song itself anyways!! i would even say that even if a person doesn’t necessarily write their music they still interpret the songs in their own way especially when they sing on stage and being able to do that is also being an artist! what i am trying to say is being a musician is definitely a way to be an artist no matter how successful, rich or not you are to have certain things!

I just finished your New Wave fic. I’m convinced everything your write is gold. I loved your TMA fics, with the most heartbreaking demon AU imaginable and the hilarity of Fahrenheit 101. I loved your moon knight fics, starting with Steven talking to animals on the reg at work to the system growing closer with a focus on Jake, i- there’s- it’s sooo much packed into it. When I’m on burnout, of art or writing (maybe life in general at times) I revisit your work and am thrown back into a creative headspace.
You are my favorite writer, you cram so much meaning and thought into your work and it shows. The characters are dumbasses and say the most ridiculous shit and turn around the next chapter and say the most thought provoking thing, and I don’t get whiplash from it because these characters just work! They just do, and I… am very much off track!
Anyways I just got into Batman and reading your fic is fueling that flame! I can’t wait to see what you have in store next, and I shall now stalk your blog for writing tips! I hope you have a nice day broski 💙
Thank you!! This is so sweet thank you so much! This ask is so nice!
Trust me, if there's meaning then it's because I get obsessive over these fics and I massively overthink them. I honestly wish I was better at making simpler, more elegant stories. I feel like nothing I do is truly going to be good until I can find that simplicity.
"Dipshit who says stupid stuff and then turns around and spouts ridiculous philosophy" is just how I talk. But I habitually approach my life from a standpoint of finding humor in everything, if only to soften the blow. I was once told that it's really hard to tell when I'm joking, because everything I say is always half-joking and always half-serious. I feel like that's pretty evident from my narration too...
As for writing advice...um, I was just speaking about this with somebody. When you're plotting a story, the first thing I like to figure out is what I'm trying to say. Everything else should be built around that. The joy of writing is that I think we all have something we want to say, or something we want people to know, or that we have an aspect of ourselves and our lives that we want to express. Most of the time, trying to convey those things verbally just results in a frustrating approximation of your true feelings. I find that when I manage a successful story, the depth and scale of what I'm trying to impart is fully understood and felt. It's rewarding. I think if people aren't understood on some level, by somebody, they kind of die.
Thanks for the sweet ask!!

worship the music, not the man
it's his turn for worshipping
let him kneel before the bed
watch him bow his head
and pray you sing for him

Why are you so angry all the time? Why do you lock yourself away from the world? Why are you not living your life they ask?
I answer with my own set of questions. How can I live in a body that doesn’t work? In a house divided? In a mind that constantly races? How can I go out and try to make a living when I know off the back of my labor my money goes to funding genocide? How can I think positively and go out and have fun when children are being gun downed for going to school, the movies, the mall? Is this survivor’s guilt? It can’t be. I don’t feel guilty for surviving. I feel rage and sorrow that I have to survive. I should be living. We should be living. One shouldn’t have to struggle to eat, drink, and have basic healthcare and rights.

Katya, giggling: What did you say, Luz?
Luz: I said 'isn't this the music from FNAF?'
Hunter: Huh?
Luz: You know, Five Nights At Freddy's. The video game. Isn't this the music from that?
Katya: *wheeze*
Eda, patting a distraught Raine on the head: It's ok, sweetie.
Raine, with their head buried in their hands: WHERE DID WE GO WRONG, EDA?! WE FAILED OUR CHILDREN!
