Through all of history, on the night of the full moon, the bloodcurdling cries of werewolves have pierced the night sky. For centuries werewolves have had to content themselves with shortened forays of feral change as dictated by the source of their power—the moon! But all that is about to change as three werewolf friends—Ted, Jeff, and Stan—leave Earth and travel to the lunar surface in a quest to become Kings of the Moon! Unfortunately, Moon Patrol captain Maggie Pilgrim has other plans . . . as does the hive of vampires living on the dark side!
• If you’re wondering how in the world werewolves got to the moon, then check out the eight page prologue for the series at myspace.com/darkhorsepresents, issue #21.
• Collects the three-issue miniseries.

A Talking Dog, an Ancient Crystal Skull, and a Trucker Named Jim: 'Illuminati Transport' Reviewed
With Illuminati Transport the Fillbach brother have conjured up what I feel is a love letter to the somewhat schlocky, but highly entertaining, B horror/fantasy movies of the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.

Werewolves on the Moon versus Vampires (2009) #1-3
Tumblr media
Published by Dark Horse Comics
Written by Dave Land and Matt and Shawn Fillbach
Art and covers by Matt and Shawn Fillbach
Wow! What a fun little series!
If you’re not on board with this book after reading the title, I don’t know if there’s any help for you!
Werewolves (which apparently exist) crash their way onto a moon base causing havoc only to later be attacked by vampires (which also apparently exist)!  There werewolves team up with the humans on the moon base to take on the vampires! There’s more to it than that, but I’m trying to keep the reviews short(er). Plus, no spoilers!
The Fillbach Brothers and Dave Land do a great job giving each character a unique voice and making you care for them. The dialogue is fun, bouncy and just a touch campy.  In a series that could easily become plot, plot, plot this adds to the fun of the series. There’s even a few nice little character arcs included!
The art is cartoon-y in a Michael Avon Oeming meets Mike Wieringo way. The pages are jam packed full of panels, usually double what you see on a typical american comic book page, but never overcrowded or hard to follow.
The combination of good writing, simple, crisp art, humor and action make this series a fast paced read that is well worth your time. Recommended for fans of the Venture Brothers, the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie and the Universal Monsters!
There’s a cliffhanger at the end of the third issue for things to come, but I don’t think anything ever did. If it did let me know, I need to seek out those issues ASAP!
8 out of 10!
Until next time!
