Oh, Tumblr

There are a few things I am not fond of with Tumblr in its current state.

I am not going to go into great detail here, as this is not a flame post, more of a mention that there has never been a better time than 20 years ago to begin a self-plublishing journey, self-hosting and self-developing tools and taking advantage of open source technologies and open protocols that interoperate across enclaves, rather than encouraging their silo.

The second best time is, of course, right now.

Today’s lyrics are from Amulet’s second song, ‘The Fate of Broken Oaths’. It’s heavily inspired by the dark rhythms of ‘The Death of Peace of Mind’ by Bad Omens.

Fate is a big thing that many people think about. Do we really have free will? Are we just on a conveyor, unable to change direction? Are our plans really our own, or are they programmed into our head?

My book series as a whole deals with Fate as a major theme, and this song is about those in the story’s past who defied the Path set before them and sought to bring about ruin and death where they should have only brought creation and knowledge.

One of the many curious creatures native to Tethys that seem to have a relation with some of the beasts found in the parallel dimension that it neighbors. Dikralosaurus are pasture animals but have yet to be domesticated by humans. They are herbivorous reptiles that are known for roaming plains. They come in various colors depending on the sides of the plains of Meadowmoor they occupy.
