Hi, I just would love to say I LOVE your work! It's really well-written and one of my most favorite things to read! I'm a bit curious about how you stayed committed in one project for so long... I've had various multi-chaptered works I posted (and some lying around in the drafts for a long while), but every time i encounter a problem i immediately feel uninspired to post and i immediately tank it. And since I'm doing another multi-chapter fic, I'm scared that I'd abandon it easily. I was wondering how you'd manage to keep on comiting to your own project?

I have to confess, I’m also extremely guilty of abandoning a project partway through. It’s already happened three times in the recent past for other fandoms (and two of those three times were quite literally smack in the very MIDDLE of the projects as well). One day I’ll go back to them. One day. 

But with this work? It just means too much to me to just up and quit on it (insert ninja never quit quote here). And I’ve gotten stuck plenty of times as well (Chapter 17, Chapter 23, Chapter 28, and Chapter 35 already jump out in particular ghhhhh) but when that happens, I’ve done a variety of things to try and keep the momentum flowing:

Comb back through Notes: Double check to make sure things are still on track in the way you want them to. There’s been countless times I’ve gotten on a writing roll and accidentally write myself into a hole, only to realize it’s because I skipped over something I should have included earlier, or I took too much time on a scene and I have to reign it in to make room for something else. Other times what I had in my original notes doesn’t fit with my vision anymore, and I have to do some reworking there. Or there’s not enough information/context supplied and I have to add in something. Either way, writing out even the barest thing of a plot thread (even if you hate outlines) can help you determine what you should be doing with your story next. 

Read/write other fics/stories. Sometimes my issue is that I’ve stepped away from writing for too long (as I get stupid busy) and it’s not so much that I “forget” how to write, but it can be a little difficult getting back into my “writing voice” and then everything starts to come up bland. By rereading other fics, you can find new inspiration, start to get a mental “language” of how to want to phrase things or describe scenes, a reminder of how to progress with dialogue. etc...basically, for me, it helps me picture my story after days of not really thinking about it, or helps me get a handle of how I want my story to flow. 

Of course, you can always reread your own work, which can remind you of where you wanted to take your plot/characters in the first place and give you a jump start like that... but for me that just makes me annoyed that I can’t read the rest of the fic as *I* have to write it asdfghjk. Alternatively, if you find yourself stuck on one story, start writing/working on another! I know, sounds counterintuitive with the “too many wips” thing, but it doesn’t have to be a full-fledged novel! A oneshot, drabble, a writing request, a practice scene...something small that you’re not necessarily obligated to finish just to get the juices flowing again without the added pressure. That one I can say from experience definitely helps from experience!

Do literally anything else. Sometimes you’re just a bit burnt out and need a break from writing! Give that part of your brain some time to rest, and then when you come back to write, it’ll be with some fresh perspective! Being all-consuming in a project may seem like it’ll help it get done faster, but you can’t drive a car with no gas, y’know? Don’t let yourself get too hung up on writing; it’s supposed to be fun! And when it starts getting not fun, step away before you can too frustrated with it (or yourself). Get a snack, grab some water, draw, do a puzzle, go outside, see some friends, whatever! It’s just as important not to neglect other things you love as well. .... *stares longingly at my gaming backlog*

From my own experience, I do tend to get a reignited itch to write when I’m off doing something else. In my case, let’s say I’m playing a video game, but now that my mind has had time to relax from writing, new ideas and a drive to write actually have the energy to come back full force, so to speak.

Straight up start the chapter/scene/part you’re stuck on from scratch (but don’t throw out what you already have either). Again, sounds counterintuitive, BUT by tackling the problem from another angle (i.e. a different point of view, a different turn in a conversation, simply rearranging the order of events, etc) can do INSANE wonders for finding a way through a block. All those chapters I listed above? All had to be re-written to include everything I wanted that would also flow in a logical way. I look at my older drafts for chapters and wince at my original ideas—but hey, I wouldn’t have the current ideas I have now without them, so can’t let myself feel too bad! 

And by not throwing out what you already have, you’ve got stuff to work with and reference, which is better than trying to go in blind all over again! You can straight up rewrite scenes you weren’t vibing with, rearrange the order of scenes to experiment with the flow, ask yourself why you even needed a scene in the first place...being able to reflect like that is super indispensable, and in the worst case scenario, you’ve still got at least part of a chapter written, so it’s not like you have zero progress at all! 

Take the first/easiest way out, or just eliminate what caused the problem in the first place. It may seem a little dumb, and it’s obviously going to depend on just how big the “problem” actually is or the nature of it, but for the moment, if it’ll help you move forward in the slightest, go for it! Because you can always go back and fix it up later if you want! And if not, you’ve still got a good enough way to get readers (and yourself), from point a to point b. No need to always be perfect; we’re all doing this for fun in the end! And often times a casual reader isn’t going to catch the fact that you may have metaphorically simply put a bandaid over an issue; they’re just here for the fun ride! 

But the biggest secret to keep on carrying on? Love what you do!  Sounds cheesy, but if you’re not fully passionate to begin with, it’s going to be really, really hard to maintain the drive no matter what you do. Always remind yourself of why you started the project in the first place, remember the story you want to achieve in the end, and be a little forgiving to yourself when things aren’t turning out the way you want them to. You just have such high expectations for your work because it means so much to you that you start putting standards on yourself, and that’s not always good for you or your story.

Learn to see problems not as problems but opportunities; a wake-up call for yourself, a check to make sure the story is going in the way you originally wanted it to, or to see if maybe it’s time for a complete direction! It doesn’t mean the project’s not worth finishing; it just means it’s worth so much to you that you’re afraid to see it fail. But what’s more important: achieving a perfect story that made you want to pull your hair out the whole time, or telling an imperfect story you can always go back and fix if you want, but people were able to enjoy regardless because it got done? 

And hey, sometimes you do just have to write a bad chapter/scene/story just to push onward (Chapter 11 of Book 1 is this for me ghhhhh it’s so far from my vision and I never could fine tune it in just the right way I wanted BUT OH WELL). Not saying you should just ~abandon all quality~ when things aren’t going your way, but.......it’s not the end of the world if you do, either. That just means you’ve presented an opportunity for yourself to look back on how you’ve grown! And that’s not a bad thing, right? 

Anyway, that’s just some advice from my own experience/circumstances; hopefully it helped in some small way, at least! ^^

And if nothing else, at least the laddies can be a good guide for what to look out for in people if their characters resonate with you. So if someone is being a meanie and calling you a weirdo for being cute and wiggly, you can think "would Litty treat me like this??😤" and if the answer is "No!" then that'll maybe tell you something about how you'd like to be treated by the people close to you? And then yous can have a chat... orrr yeet the meanies..?

Also, although I try to keep my writing 'realistic' and real, there will always be a certain amount of romanticisation in any creative writing. My work is no different. It's impossible to cover all of real life's nuances in a story, as they usually mostly focus on a couple of main themes. So, especially because my stories have been specifically very concentrated on relationships and fluff and romance stuff etc, there tends to be less focus on some other aspects of these characters' lives. Basically what I'm trying to very badly say here is that in real life a lot of people are probably less laser focused on 'fluff!' or 'relationships!' whereas these stories lean on those things much more? And thussss these stories might not be the truest reflection of how people actually do... life? or relationships?

Oh man, did this make any sense😭 I just wanted to say that yes, Litty are lovely amazing bois and I'm sure there's some people who really are like this, you should not give up hope!! But also that my writing, despite my best efforts, will also romanticise a lot of things for the sake of the plot and the emotions I want to have in the text. So yeah, Lit doesn't really exist, but... I still know there are people like this (And we can start by looking at how we treat others and how we are?? If I try to be good like Lit, then that's already one person who's kinda like them???)

AHHH I'm not saying you guys haven't realised that my writing is Fiction and the characters will have some romanticised aspects to them ghhhhh but just wanted to clarify. I'm so bad at words apparently, I'm sorryyyy this is a mess😭😭 I hope you get what I meant !!!

TP WORLD BUILDINGGGG

Botw has good world building too, but each race felt kinda,,, isolated? I absolutely love the different architecture and vibe each town has (and all the the weapons too) but ghhh yea everyone felt so separated. As far as I can remember, we don’t see tooo much of the races interacting with each other? Now that I’m typing that out maybe that’s to be expected because of the calamity but KLSJDKJFD ANYWAYS THIS IS ABOUT TP

The world feels nice and alive, love how populated everything is

Castle town I like castle town a lot, it feels dense and busy and I really like how you can’t talk to every NPC you see

Very cool very fun that we got to see the Gorons hanging out in multiple spots

kinda wish we got to see the Zoras a little more (I guess they are a bit limited since they need water but GHHHH the tp zoras are so prebby,,)

BUT HEY, I do remember seeing a zora or two hanging out in the hot springs around death mountain after beating the lakebed temple (I think, might have been a different dungeon) 

but aaaa would have been nice to see them in at least a couple of other places. I think it would have really added to the “congrats Link!! You’re restoring peace to Hyrule” feeling you get from seeing the Gorons hanging out in Kakariko and Castle Town

Love Midna’s theme and how they referenced the dark world theme from ALttP (I remember trying to learn the dark world theme on the piano and doing the Leonardo DiCaprio point meme at the little jingle I recognized from Midna’s theme)

Hyrule field theme SLAPS.

Apparently references a couple of the other over-world themes from the previous zelda games (I got this from 8-bit Music theory’s video on the over-world zelda themes, he talks about TP at around 11:40 but def recommend watching the whole video if you’re into music analysis stuff)

So there’s this bit of the Hyrule Field theme, I don’t know the official name for it but I remember seeing somewhere it being called the “at an advantage theme” since yeah, you hear it during the boss music whenever you expose their weak points. FUCKINGGG LOVE THAT. Didn’t notice it during my first playthrough, but hearing it during my second was like a little easter egg for my ears every time :)

Literally, the first time I listened to those I just,,,, plugged in my headphones, volume 100, layed on the floor/against my desk and silently vibed. I don’t know what the hell it is, but those two just fit so well with TP?? VERY GOOD. IT’s like 10 minutes long and GOD do I love every single second of it. It doesn’t have the same energy as the skyward sword staff roll or the orchestra pieces but GOD does it hit good??

Nice and calm after that big exciting adventure. Maybe it would have been more fun or emotional to have a higher energy piece but it was really nice getting to sit back and watch the camera fly around Hyrule. Seeing like, the Gorons and the Zoras having a good time, the kids returning to Ordon? GOOD SHIT.

and AAAAA that end, when you hear the main Zelda theme and see Link riding off out of Faron woods on Epona… good shit. It gets you thinking, where the hell is he going? What is he doing? Off ot do more adventuring? Going to help out the resistance or something? Going to help Zelda? Or maybe he’s trying to figure out a way to restore the mirror of twilight? Whoooo knows.

They’re all just so unique and contrast SO well with the rest of the TP OST. LIKE FUCK!! Anytime I hear the screech from the Twilit Kargarok? Sends a shiver down my spine. I associate those sounds SO strongly with the twili realm. (Like, the same way you associate the BSHEWW VVWWMMM sounds with light sabers)

this case has finally given her closure on her first horrible case. on diego's poisoning.

she's a character who was driven, always, by trying to right wrongs done to her loved ones. she became a lawyer to try and learn the truth about what happened after the DL-6 channeling, what made her mother run. eventually, to bring redd white to justice... that was her goal, and she never got to see it completed in life.

but very early on, her path was halted almost at the start of the road with that first case. It was a huge blow to her confidence even before Diego was poisoned, and after that she didn't take another case for MONTHS. I'm certain it devastated her.

In winning this trial, in saving Phoenix and putting Dahlia behind bars, Mia got such an important victory. It gave her confidence to move forward. Rewarded her faith in her client (despite mockery from Payne or others), proved to her that she can protect those she loves and avenge the ones already gone.

Everyone talks about what an amazing lawyer Mia was. But I think this was the start of it all. This moment. Not even this whole case, but this moment especially. She really believes that helping people is what being a lawyer is about, and now she knows she can do that. This is who she can be. After this, she goes out and builds that amazing reputation, does very well for herself in only a few years - but this is the foundation for those victories.

I really think this trial, this conversation, is the start of it all for both of them. They inspire one another here, give one another confidence and renew the other's drive to achieve their goal of saving someone near and dear to them.

And then it isn't a one off. Phoenix comes back, seeks her guidance and advice and continues to be visible proof to her that she is a person who helps others. Think about how much seeing him grow meant to her. How proud she was that she helped him get to this point.

Years after she dies Phoenix says that she will always be his mentor in law and life; and he completes her work when she is struck down too soon. She's with him when it happens, both times. Her belief in him gives him courage to help others; his belief in her leads her to peace, finally, to the end of her quests.

They mean so much to one another and I love them both so much.

ghhhhh i love that velvet doesn't give up her hatred and her thirst for revenge even after becoming a much happier and gentler person. it's actually a little bit funny, because in the first two thirds or so of the game, before velvet kinda uhh... snaps, there are moments where she tries to argue that what the abbey is doing is wrong (and at this point in the game the extent of their fuckiness isn't yet revealed, so her argument is mostly just that every good deed done by the abbey is invalidated by the fact that they sacrificed an innocent person once). there's a sort of cognitive dissonance in her head where she acknowledges that her wanting to kill artorius is purely personal and she's not doing it for any other reason, while also occasionally trying to argue that the abbey is morally wrong as a justification for her actions. and then after she snaps and has her moment with phi and figures her stuff out and starts becoming kinder and more... human, she never really ever brings up the idea that someone needs to stop the abbey, even after the real horror of what they're trying to do and what they're doing to achieve it is revealed. AND STILL even though she doesn't bother talking about morals and what's right or wrong anymore she's decided that she wants to give up on looking for any chance of living with her newfound happiness if it means making the world a more hopeful place. she starts off as a person willing to destroy the whole world if it means ending the life of one man while simultaneously making weak attempts to justify her actions and ends the game as a person who insists on saving the world no matter what she has to give up, while playing up her "evilness" and telling people it's okay to blame all the sadness in the world on her. i love her i love miss lord of calamity

This is a transcript of a liveblog that I originally did on Discord, having played a fan translation of the first game years ago and knowing a spoiler for the second game. I do not recommend following along with this on your first playthrough!

[[Please also bear in mind that I’ve long since finished the game by now, so if past-me wildly misinterprets something here (and I often did), no need to correct me, I already know!]]

Interim thoughts: I AM HAVING EMOTIONS

you know usually I post some kind of analytical speculation to give an idea of where my thoughts are at in between play sessions, but this time my thoughts have just been an incoherent emotional jumble of please let Kazuma be happy, please let his and Ryunosuke's friendship be okay in the end, this is breaking my heart.

Like, yes, we're going to figure out the truth of what happened to Kazuma's dad, of course, and I know that's what's most important to him - but Kazuma has made it clear that he doesn't give a fuck what happens to himself after today so long as he achieves that, even if it means betraying his friends, even if it means going to prison or whatever for nominally agreeing to an assassination he never intended to actually carry out, and it's heartwrenching. You're worth so much more than that, Kazuma! It's not fair that he had to sacrifice practically everything just to be able to get here and do this, and he shouldn't be okay with that!

And it's doubly heartwrenching that Ryunosuke still seems shaken enough by the assassin reveal that he's not even mentally protesting any of this at all. They had that bit at the end of the last investigation section with Ryunosuke thinking about his new found family and how lucky he is to have them all, all these people except Kazuma, and all the while Kazuma must have been so fucking lonely this whole time and he deserves just as much to be part of the found family too because he's supposed to be Ryunosuke's best friend and gaaaaaaah.

I just. I just have A Lot Of Feelings about Kazuma right now. Just getting a snapshot of that out there before I start playing again.

Van Zieks is good and Friend, was hoping to see him do an Ace Attorney Smile(TM) at the end but I guess the revelation that his brother was a serial killer kinda dampened any chance of that happening for the time being, whoops. but yeah, idk, i enjoy well written Tsundere characters with Tragic pasts that lead to Loneliness (self-induced or not) and lots of Trust issues, and van Zieks fits all those bills lmao?? really wish we'd gotten that AA smile you mentioned out of him for maximum Tsundere moment but damn budget constraints (probably)

i also really loved the whole reaper of the bailey ordeal, with van Zieks not even having to try hard to be a terrifying public figure prone to a million assassination attempts but still being more than willing to let it happen for the sake of other people, even if he trusts none of them and sees corruption everywhere - surely he knew he'd run into someone trustworthy eventually to make it all worth it?

i enjoyed the pressure he put on Ryunosuke in court to actually think in ways that would lead to the truth and not like cases are just another "i want to one up you" game.

i also enjoyed that he actually doesn't slip into self-pity much, i cannot articulate why but his almost-unwavering confidence and suffer-no-bullshit attitude was great in any scene

I have replayed the scene where van Zieks refers to Ryunosuke by name for the first time and says he needs to believe in his integrity as a lawyer, finally, a Lot of times

let's not forget the endearing quirks like the chalice throwing, keeping motherfucking BATS in his office and he's the ONLY one allowed to rearrange his wine barrels (on a weekly basis, guy, where do you find TIME for that?) and also i think a lot about that evidence dialogue where he wonders what color haired league he's supposed to join if the only choices are red or black lmao

and ugh I have a 4:00 meeting now to switch my mind to WHY

first of all, i’d just say go for it. a half-baked idea is still an idea and hey! you don’t lose anything if you don’t meet whatever expectations you have for yourself. i can really only give tips based on, like, this blog so my advice (if you can call it that, or just incessant rambling) might not translate. but let’s give it a shot :D

1) if you have expectations, that’s great! but don’t let them dictate your “journey”. for instance, i wasn’t really expecting anything when i started this blog. i posted my first fic at like two in the morning and went to bed and got like 40 notes when i woke up, and now i have almost 3.7k followers. it was totally random and super exciting, and although i wasn’t an overnight sensation on tumblr, i started something new. in my opinion, it’s better to let yourself enjoy something new (like creating a youtube channel!) and playing around with it before making goals for yourself.

2) do what you want first, try not to be swayed to please others. my first fic probably wasn’t the most appealing thing to the masses. the reason it was so gratifying to post it was that it was something i wanted to write. and that’s very very important—even among writers on this site, a lot of us can lose motivation when pieces that we really like don’t get all the notes we want them to. it’s very very easy to either start shifting what you write to please an audience or give up altogether. that’s why i think it’s super important to start off doing something for yourself before you take fame or recognition into account.

3) have some ideas before you get started! i feel like creating a new account with nothing to get started with is the equivalent of staring at a blank document with writer’s block: it sucks. when i started this blog, i had a bunch of different concepts that i was itching to get written. in your case, i’d say have some sketches or general brainworms of the kind of content you’d want to create! that makes the beginning (which is usually pretty rough) a lot easier for you to handle and also helps you remember why you started doing what you do in the first place :)

I’m having trouble deciding how to place my crappy screen shots this week because ep 9 gave me the Taichi spam episode of my dreams xD

So, I guess feast your eyes on my favorite boy...

... I mean, you can’t have too much of that determined face, can ya? Haha. And he does it so well.

Well, I was prepared for a episode that was just a cool battle, but we actually did get more than just that. Or, I guess I should say, there was more layered over the battle so it didn’t feel like fighting for the sake of fighting. We still got character development. I love it.

My only criticism for this week is that, consequently, we got very little of the other characters. BUT, what we did get of them was not nothing either, so I’m gonna squee over that as well.

I mentioned some time ago, but also, THE MUSIC IN THIS SHOW, it’s really good. Very epic, very adventure. It kicks the tone up up UP.

We pick up where we left off last ep, with Taichi “translating” the digicode. Still no indication of whether the others are so linguistically blessed as well. But Taichi, for reasons unknown, can’t translate the entire passage. He basically learns enough to understand that the holy Digimon is trapped by the “dark” and in trouble, and they have to go find it, but after that he says he can’t read any more.

Sora: I told you to pay more attention at school.

Taichi: What school are you thinking of, spy school?!?

It will be interesting to find out why that is and it points to someone pulling the strings behind the curtain. Someone who’s made the kids their champion. Are they a benevolent being? The kids don’t doubt it so far. An old cabbage like me can’t help but look sidelong...

Jou panics over how they’re going to find the holy digimon without knowing where it is, to which Mimi responds that they do know.

Jou: Mimi-kun, you know where it is?

Mimi: Somewhere on this continent.

Jou: T_T Mimiiiiiiii-kunnnn

Taichi of course is raring to go, map or no map.

I mean I did warn you I only capped Taichi this ep...

They are interrupted by Ogremon, who we saw previously talking with Devimon, but when he arrives his motivation does not seem concerned with his master’s plans. He goes straight for Taichi, reflecting on their previous encounter, when Greymon broke Ogremon’s horn.

So here’s what I loved. Ogremon’s working for Devimon, of his free will or not we don’t really know, but regardless, Ogremon is still Ogremon, and like in old Adventure, he stakes a lot in his pride. Last time it was focused solely on fighting Leomon. This time, the kids initially think he goes after Greymon for revenge, but as their fight heats up the other kids notice that something seems different about this fight. Mimi even says “It looks like they’re having fun.”

Like, it’s not just a battle. It’s already done some foundational work for Ogremon becoming their ally in the future. And it’s begun with Taichi this time. Ogremon’s special relationship was Mimi in 99, as well as Jou, and there’s plenty of time for that to turn out in 20 as well, but I think it’s super interesting that they’ve begun it with Taichi.

It’s like a samurai film. (Mimi - again - even says “It’s like a movie.” She got a lot of good lines this ep lol) The two strong, brave rivals who respect each other’s strength and value each other’s pride. And it’s a trope we see in... basically every shonen anime ever made. And it’s really fitting for Taichi.

Yamato has very few lines in this episode. Like I said before, this is very much Taichi’s ep, and the others are mainly just watching, which is a bit of a bummer but also rather hopeful for the show as a whole because even though they’re watching, we learn things about them. The other characters make quips and comments while watching the fight. Yamato is noticeably silent, but every time something significant happens, we get a close up of his face. He gets more closeups and of longer duration than the others. It’s clearly meant to tell us Yamato’s taking this all in and watching so closely. Maybe he’s watching in case he needs to jump in, or maybe he’s simply learning all he can for the future. Whatever the reason, this is definitely an important character trait for Yamato.

All of a sudden a bunch of other Digimon launch an attack, and the kids can’t get out of the way in time. Taichi makes this face:

Similar to the expression he had last week when they were grossly outnumbered and about to lose, if Yamato hadn’t saved their butts. I think this expression’s going to become a Thing as well. It’s the face he makes when he wants to panic, but won’t let himself.

This week Yamato can’t save them because he also needs saving! So who’s our mysterious ally?

That’s right it’s KOOOOOSHIROOOOOO!!!!!! *air horn sounds*

The sheer joy (and relief!) in Taichi’s voice when he sees Koushirou almost makes up for his not being around much in several eps. I’m still a bit disappointed that his return didn’t involve that much fanfare, but getting to save everyone from being blown up is nothing to sneeze at.

Tentomon is hilarious and, like Sakamoto Chika said in yesterday’s Digifes, an “even weirder” old guy than ever xD

The others immediately run over to say hi or introduce themselves to Koushirou and Jou’s quick to inform him that he, Jou, is the leader.

Mimi: Uh really? Since when?

The very manly battle continues to rage.

Yeah I don’t really got much to say, it’s a battle, they’re having fun, becoming rivals, it’s male bonding through physical competition and mutual respect...

I wonder if Ogremon’s got an inferiority complex because Greymon’s got three big horns and Ogremon only has one and a half x’D

The manly battle is rudely interrupted by a FREAKING MISSILE.

Look, doesn’t this land right on them? ISN’T IT LITERALLY RIGHT OVER THEIR HEADS!?!?! Why aren’t they burnt to a crisp! I know it’s a kids show but come on!

The missile was launched by MetalTyrannomon, who is as scary as he is brainless.

The Pokemon fan in me was immediately like “fire!! Palmon get out of here you’re a plant type! Eh Gomamon you’ll be fine”

The kids immediately know something’s changed. The battle of male bonding is over. War is here. The missile was probably a good indicator of that.

Devimon isn’t what one would call subtle.

Ogremon quickly calls it like it is: “So I’ve been abandoned, eh.” Devimon’s gonna kill the kids and he doesn’t care about Ogremon’s pride. He doesn’t care about it so much...

... that he doesn’t mind MetalTyrannomon STOMPING on Ogremon and CRUSHING him into the ground

Taichi’s like WTH!?!?! we were doing some male bonding!! that shit’s sacred!!!

Ogremon: M’fine... jus’ another day for ol’ Ogremon... ghhhhh.... mommy...

So Taichi has a pretty strong reaction to watching Ogremon get literally stomped on. Not that I blame him, but it’s not like they know Ogremon well or anything. Taichi just feels through their battle that Ogremon, well, he doesn’t deserve this anyway. I guess. He has been trying to kill them for a while though. But Taichi’s got his own samurai side and he can’t let injustice stand.

He’s so worked up, the animators were afraid showing us his whole face could cause distress.

His strong sense of justice fuels his courage!

Which in turn gives Greymon an epic power boost like Yamato’s feelings of friendship did for him last episode!

Aaaaand... it’s not very effective!

Because MetalTyrannomon is a level higher, even with a power boost Greymon can’t do more than dent him.

One thing that stands out is, the Digimon don’t seem to have the same issue with needing to fuel up between battles as in 99 Adventure. We’ve seen them pleading for food a couple times yeah, but when they’re fighting they don’t seem to reach their limit quite as fast. This episode, Tentomon didn’t join in the fight because he’s exhausted from flying as Kabuterimon for such a long time before even saving the kids. Agumon doesn’t run out of juice until he tries to take on MetalTyrannomon. But it took both of them quite some time to get to that point and we don’t see anyone stop to fuel up again between scenes.

The contrast with the Ogremon battle makes the MetalTyrannomon one that much scarier. This is the third time in two episodes that Taichi’s on the brink of panic. The third time he’d have lost the game, if someone didn’t come to the rescue.

And this time that rescue comes from a surprising (not surprising?) corner.

Ogremon stands back up... and has uhhh apparently lost his eyeball??? x’D I know he got crushed but like, did his eyeball pop out of his socket and roll away? Like "on top of spaghetti all covered with cheese” style???

Anyway, Ogremon must be kind of sick of losing body parts, because it’s pretty obvious at this point that he’s going to Die by sacrificing himself. Par for the course for Ogremon. He can’t admit to caring, but if he can rationalize it as “I’m getting revenge!” or something he will jump right in. And, given the rate this show’s being going, I guess it’s no surprise we’d see a borderline touching death this early on.

Ogremon also directs Taichi to where the holy Digimon is, making him seem not very like Devimon’s ally at all. Apparently the holy Digimon is “straight ahead.” Some actual directions might be nice but uh.

Taichi however is not too on board with this dying-for-you junk. You can see how conflicted he is. (Well, not in a screenshot, but he’s like shaking.)

Yamato continues to looking on silentl, quivering with rage as much as Taichi, just from the back. I will not be surprised at all if this Greymon-Ogremon battle is something of a prelude for conflicts between Taichi and Yamato in the future.

Ogremon gathers his remaining strength and attacks MetalTyrannomon with everything he’s got, and does indeed seem to disintegrate in the style of dying Digimon. However, that doesn’t mean this will be the last time we see him. I think he’ll come back maybe even more brainwashed on Devimon’s side, perhaps fused again, or maybe not - but I do think we’ll see him again sooner rather than later.

Then all the kids are blinded and Sora groans that she knew she forgot something at the store, freaking sunglasses.

A really fun episode! Was not really expecting much from an episode that was focused on a battle, but it does not fall into the boring trap of just doing cool stuff for the sake of doing it. Though it’s disappointing Yamato was so quiet, it has a sense of a pot slowly heating to a boil. It’s a pregnant pause. And Jou and Mimi were their hilarious selves, how I missed them. Sora and Koushirou had the least to do, but at least Koushirou got to save the day.

Next week it looks like MetalTyrannomon was not defeated by Ogremon, who may have been passionate but was still a level below, so we get to fight some more...

There are no showers in the digital world.

Koushirou gets to show off his Usefulness with this Useful map, which will clearly cause a lot of frowns since it shows that they can only go left or right, even though Ogremon told them to go “straight ahead.” Hmm. What will they do? I’m kind of expecting Taichi to insist on going straight anyway. I hope we don’t split up again already.

Also next week marks the return of the MISSILE NIPPLES!!!

I hadn’t expected another evolution this early on but I mean we did already get a jogress.... so I suppose it’s no surprise. Also MISSILE NIPPLES!!!

ghhhhh kagepro is one of my fave series!!! how about ✨, 🎥(can be from the manga/LNs too), and/or 💕 for it??

✨ what draws you towards your hyperfixation? what is interesting about it? 

The characters for sure. Kagepro’s plot is very. It’s very weird and inaccessible. But the characters themselves are just GOOD. The dynamics and bonds they have with each other are super unique, and I love the way they interact with each other. They’re all very unique, and I’m pretty much obsessed with them all.

🎥 do you have any favorite scenes from your hyperfixation?

Oh gosh that’s hard. There are a LOT of scenes from Kagepro. Hmm... let me think.

Well, for one, I really like all of Otsukimi Recital, especially in the song timeline iteration. Seeing Momo cheer Hibiya up is so, so cute, and actually what got me into the series in the first place.

I dunno if it’s my concrete fave, because there’s a LOT of scenes I’m forgetting -- but it’s definitely a contender. Big sister moments...

💕 tell us about one of your favorite characters and why you like them! 

Haha another hard one. Believe it or not, I have five characters tied for my favorite Kagepro character. Hibiya, Hiyori, Haruka, Takane, and Momo. But picking just one to talk about, I think I’d have to talk about Momo.

I love Momo so, so much. Not only is she just a really kind and selfless person, but I love the ways she parallels her brother and interacts with people in contrast to him. Her dynamic w characters like Kido, Hibiya, and Kano are all SUPER fun, and there are some (I.E Ene) I desperately wish she got to interact with more because she is a DELIGHT in every scene she’s in.

Momo’s this sort of special character to me because she’s one of the first times I really felt ‘seen’ in media. Kagepro has a lot of neurodivergent characters, and intentionally or not Momo gives off a lot of ADHD vibes. Her struggling with not wanting to be seen and feeling like she was being judged in the novels especially hit me. I was struggling a LOT with RSD. But ultimately she found her place in the world and friends who loved her for who she is, and that’s super comforting.

The next day was no better than last night, it seems Inosuke was acting weirder than normal? He was snarling, and jumping around a bit when Tanjiro would come around him, at one point he was attached to the ceiling hanging out up there. It was...different-not really, now that Zenitsu thought about it. Standing there as he was dumbfounded at how aggressive Inosuke was to Tanjiro, they’ve been going back and forth at each other for a while. It was more of a one sided argument if anything else, the blond was getting so tired of hearing their yelling, though, something was off about the moron boar’s voice, his breathing was off too. Something was..odd, he was trying to figure out what it was, though normally he wouldn’t care for the scary, and stupid male. But,that wasn’t on his mind anymore no. The blond would snap his head over, hearing softer breathing from the area of the estate, the porch that lead to the garden outside. So it was safe on the inside in the shade for Nezuko to creep around in, she was able to come out of her box and hang out with the boys, as long as they were inside. The girl had moved to sit by Zenitsu, her eyes held big wonder as she watched her brother yelling, only to turn her head over to the blond. Giving a silly blank look of confusion. ‘AH, SHE’S TOO CUTE, HOW COULD SOMEONE LIKE HER BE REAL!?’ His face was in awe, stuck in this stunned, smitten state to how cute she was. That, he almost missed the worried look, of how her brows would lift, and gain a sad look, pointing over to the two bickering boys. OH, she was...yes, okay worried. That would make sense, he looks over to her and would smile, even if he seemed super shaky. “T-Tanjiro’s okay...he-he’s basically babysitting that wild boar at this point..no need to worry, Nezuko..” Even saying her name made his face turn a bit red, she was stunning in every way, and it was hard to think otherwise. Sure, there were other girls he got rather...out of it, and a bit much for. But, nothing has compared to the demon girl in front of him, she held such a kind sound that match her brothers. Someone who was innocent, only wanting to protect people, as if they were like her family, it was warming to know, and made him keel over right then and there from it. In fact, Zenitsu nearly forgot to breath, if not for the small hand patting at his bicep, reminding him he should stay in the land of the living, no dying on her watch. Quickly he takes a deep inhale, and looks at her in a teary dazed state, moving to grab her shoulders and would let out a small whimper. “Nezuko...it’s unbelievable how someone like you even is here...even if you’re a demon, you act like an angel!!” He started crying, shaking a bit as he would turn his head away. Moving his sleeve to hide his face as he would yell a bit into his sob. Nezuko on the other hand, the girl would stare. Blinking a few times, giving a tilt of her head in confusion, curious what was going. She always seemed so confused for the most part, maybe because of being asleep in the box, and coming out at night. 

Still, the blond’s mind was more than upset from this situation they were in, even if they had stayed resting like this, it might take up a few weeks or so before they could work something out with their bodies. Since, they experienced more of a drained feeling, so maybe more damage had been done, but from a far point, if that was to make sense form the demons they fought. HOWEVER, the remaining issue still stood, the male didn’t know how he was going to be able to make advances on her. While, also trying his best to get Tanjiro’s blessing to marry her right there on the spot!! No big deal right? Anyone could swoop in and grab her, and it was terrible!!! How could Tanjiro not think about something like this, his sister was always in danGER!! IT ANNOYED HIM TO NO END, GHHH. “Nezuko, please wait for-for me??” He was blushing terribly, and sweating pretty bad from saying this. Like, controlling his heartbeat? Impossible, it felt like it would explode out of his chest any second now, how could he possibly control himself? His world felt like it was spinning. Though again, tugged from his thought, staring at Nezuko once more as she would slowly raise both her hands up. It was like she had been trying to tell him something, but it was hard to tell what it was really, before long, she held them out to him making a small grabby motion as if she wanted to hold his hands or something. With a small inhale, he would start reaching for her hands, though it was a painfully slow process. More of him taking forever to actually reach other. So the demon girl takes matters into her own hands, grabbing the bigger hands, and placing them both in her hair. “Mmph!” Through the bamboo in her mouth, trying to make him move the hands about through her soft hair. Something that her brother would do for her whenever she needed some kind of affection really! That’s all this was, Zenitsu on the other hand had to take a second before letting out a loud scream, moving his hands back and curling up on the spot. “I-I CAN’T BRING MYSELF TO DO THIS, IT FEELS WRONG! NEZUKOO! I HAVEN’T BROUGHT YOU ENOUGH FLOWERS TO MAKE THIS SEEM RIGHT! AHHHH, WHAT WOULD TANJIRO THINK SEEING THIS-” GUH, RIGHT! He snapped his teary gaze over to where he remembered the other two being last, golden eyes widened realizing…”THEY’RE GONE!?” A hand is placed on his ear, trying to listen around for where they could possibly be!! This was terrible, he should not be left alone like this, bad idea!! Well, it sounded like they were in the estate somewhere. The more he listened in, the more he didn’t notice Nezuko crawling over to him trying to copy his motions to see if she could hear them too. That made Zen’s heart nearly burst, an arrow striking through it in a sort of way, he would lean down a bit, gripping his hand onto his clothed chest. “This is how I’m going to die..isn’t it?” A few hours have passed, and the two were wandering around the building together trying to look for the boys who had up and ran off, doing god knows what. Tsk, Zenitsu wouldn’t put it past that moron if he was being denied of eating dirt at the moment, and he threw a fit for Tanjiro to take care of. Either way, small whines and whimpers escape him as he now had to look after Nezuko, who was probably more upset about not being able to be around her brother. Which, by standards were understandable, honestly. Yet, every step felt like his last, when knowing she was clinging to his jacket, holding on as if it was a security blanket, it was also worth noting the little sways in her walk. “Mmnn..?” Pink eyes growing weak, and pressing against Agatsuma with every new way they made. It must have been drawing closer to when she normally would nap, Zen screeches a bit when feeling her full weight on his back. He tries moving away, but quickly realized that was a bad idea at the same time, moving to catch her in his arms. “W-What do I do!? I DIDN’T THINK THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING TO ME RIGHT NOW, WHY IS THIS SOMETHING THAT I GOT TO BE BLESSED WITH? SHOULD-SHOULD I BE COMPLAINING, BUT SHOULD I BE REALLY DOING THIS!? AHH.” He has a small freak out once more, but, stares down at Nezuko. Watching as her hair cupped around her soft, pale features. Almost glowing like the moonlight. The sounds of calm breathing passes through her, letting him have a moment to..actually think. Which was a first to say the least. Quickly, the male scoops up the girl into his arms and heading for the main room where they normally would lay down to rest, and sleep. This was going to be better for her, than laying away from her box, or where Tanjiro wasn’t at. Though once stepping into the room, he blinks looking down once she moved around, thinking she was waking up. So he would make a weird clicking noise of panic, moving back and forth trying to figure out where to put her. But, only stopping as whines leave from her, staring down at the demon. It took Zenitsu a few seconds to click. ‘Nightmare’, this shouldn’t come off as a surprise to say the least, someone that lived a horrid past like hers was bound to have night terrors leading behind it.Beads of sweat trail down her forehead, and down her neck, as she looked like she was struggling to keep herself still. Small veins were appearing on her temples as she snarls and growls in her sleep, gripping at Zen’s jacket and pushing then pulling him around. The male makes little shrieks of terror when moved around so easy, what was even going ON!? HOW DOES HE STOP THIS!? “Uh..Uh!” Thinking about what Tanjiro might do, he quickly drops to the floor, and curls around her body. Moving to a more protective manner, a few tears falling from his face, not even for his own reason anymore. More because he could hear the pained breathing of what she was going through at the moment. “Hey..Hey! Don’t cry it’s..it’s okay! Everything’s alright!” For once, he was trying to be the strong one here, being the one that cries all the time made things harder for comfort. But, he couldn’t help feel bad that he wasn’t like Tanjiro, and be able to help everyone with their troubles. A hand cups to her cheeks, trying to find some kinda soothing method. “You’re safe...and..and so is Tanjiro and everyone else..” He chokes up a bit. Slowly the whimpering stopped, and the girl’s eyes would slowly open. Tired, and glazed with what was from a slumber. “Mm?” Grunting a bit, as one of her hands raise up cupping around his. Pressing a cheek into the palm, squishing it a bit, as a thank you for what he had been doing. This caused Agatsuma to poof up into a heat of red, and would feel his body shake, and held her in his arms just finding himself in shock from it all honestly. “GhhHHH w-what is this!?” Trying to process what was even going on right now, noticing that she was clung close to him.

Though, things were kinda stopped after the door busted open as Tanjiro slides the door open, with the look of concern on his face. “Nezuko! Are you alright-?” Oh, he stares at the sight in front of him, watching between the two for a moment as he was getting the picture of what was going on right now. Though, he always thought this was a really weird for Zenitsu to be going after his little sister like this, he did find there to be a comforting smell filling the room. There was no weird attempt, or anything of that sorts. Zenitsu was freaking out again, as he held a hand out waving it around spastically trying to explain himself. “I-I didn’t-I wasn’t! She was just having a bad dream, and-and I just!” His eyes widen as he felt a hand touching his hair. Tanjiro gave a soft smile, as he tilts his head to the side. “Thank you, Zenitsu, I’m glad you were here to take care of here when I wasn’t. She seems to find you comfortable too.” A small chuckle leaves him, motioning down as they both watched Nezuko passed out on the blond’s laps. A small stomp heard behind them as Inosuke stood there, wearing that boar mask as he crossed his arms over his chest. “Shitjiro, you can’t up and leave like that, we were about to duel!” Raising an arm up, giving a small flex, showing the muscle he always showed. Quickly the redhead would make the shushing motion, pointing to Nezuko, and really wanting the loud teen to be whispering for the most of it. “Inosuke, keep your voice down, please, she’s asleep.” Inosuke tilts his head, before closing the door behind himself, and falling quiet. Which caused Zenitsu to be in shock for a moment, not believing what he was seeing. It makes sense, they were both crazy! But, it seemed like Tanjiro was a calm loon, and could handle the wild fire. The male wipes the tears from his eyes once more, just holding her in his lap. Small thoughts crossed his mind, wondering what it would be like to have a life with this girl. Even though they were young right now, he always thought about the times he might die and miss everything he could have had, so you could see why he was so desperate for the most part. Zenitsu had bad reputation with women, it never ended well on his part of the coin, but! That doesn’t mean he can’t sit here and try with this girl in front of him, he can..try. Yes, but, it might be a bit before getting Tanjiro’s blessing for anything on his sister. Ghh, that would have to wait, his fingers twitch around her arms, and would glance up. However, it was not the brother who didn’t catch his attention, it was the dead blue eyes of the boar glaring into his soul. Everything about it annoyed, and sent chills up Zen’s spine at the same time, as if Inosuke wanted something from him, but didn’t know how to ask properly. Probably because he didn’t know how, with the lack of manners and all, and due to the fact he might not had ever been taught such things when he was growing up. This was making him nervous, quickly, he broke contact with his golden orbs just trying to pay attention to anything else, but he felt the eyes on him. Finally giving in, Zenitsu would gently unhook around Nezuko handing her sleeping form to Tanjiro. “I’ll be...back, I hope, that or I’ll die…wHICH I WON’T, I’LL EARN YOUR LOVE NEZUKO AND THEN YOU’LL MARRY ME!” He shouts, and would hurry out of the room, grabbing Inosuke’s arm and forcing him to follow behind as the door slams shut behind them. Tanjiro blinks in confusion, before looking down to Nezuko, who’s curled up against his stomach. He pets through her locks. “I think they’re finally getting along, that’s great.” Now, that statement made moments ago, that...that was another story for him to think on, for now he was going to rest here with his sister till they got back.

Author’s Notes: Next Chapter is gonna be two bickering boys about the Kamado siblings, I won’t post till Sunday on that though, since I’ll be busy today and I lack sleep! Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
