but to start this off: i love oliver stark, and i am so appreciative of how important he views this storyline and the representation it provides

however

i am going to be very disappointed in him if we get through the next few episodes, and it becomes clear that they aren’t going to further develop buddie anymore. he has always been so careful and cautious when it comes to implying things in interviews/press stuff, but lately with this resurgence in his response to fandom interest with buddie (liking fanart, reposting it, talking openly about buddie in interviews, confirming things like buck thinking eddie was attractive, etc.) if they don’t go that route, it will honestly severely hurt me.

i have very mixed feelings about what is and isn’t “queerbaiting” (most of my friends would say i tend to not believe that it’s a thing, and to an extent i agree) but there are certain situations in which something does blatantly feel like baiting… to me this is one of those situations.

with both lou and edy still being around, as well as ryan’s sudden stint in pr jail, the fandom’s obsession w lou/tommy, and tim minear’s seeming interest in complying with fan-service… it’s hard to remain optimistic that they will actually give us buddie. the past two weeks have given me whiplash as a buddie fan and i am getting tired of the show using our desperation and love for this ship as a marketing tactic when they have no intention of going there (tim minear himself saying things like “i don’t like to plan endgame relationships” or “there are no plans for buddie at the moment”).

that is why the media’s sudden obsession with asking about buddie, as well as oliver’s willingness to interact with buddie content online combined with the constant flow from the set of things not going in the direction of buddie… it feels very intentional to drag us in. and if oliver is participating in that, then i am going to be very disappointed and hurt by that. he used to care so much about not getting our hopes up, but lately it feels like that isn’t the case anymore, and that getting our hopes up is their way if getting us to continue watching the show because they know that people will stop watching after having to watch years of buildup and (at times admittedly) roment subtext between them just for all of that to be completely retconned and them to say “no-homo, bro” in favor of a character/ship that came out of nowhere and has had no development.

obviously, i don’t blame os for the storyline- he’s not a writer, he doesn’t get to dictate what does or doesn’t happen. But he is the one getting all of the media attention, and using that to shine a spotlight on buddie when (if) he knows that buddie isn’t happening? it feels very icky to me and i really don’t want to have a reason to dislike him.

unfortunately it’s seeming more and more like a possibility each day as we get inundated with bts info that doesn’t bode well for us at all.

If buddie doesn’t go canon/ they don’t show they’re heading in that direction in the next few episodes, I still would not blame Oliver at ALL for his recent more openness about buddie

(Idk how familiar you are with me and if you are you’ll know this but if you’re not lemme clarify I use bulletpoints a lot but not to be curt or rude I just like breaking things into chunks🫡)

1. He has made sure to constantly clarify that he doesn’t know how things are gonna go and he has no control over things- i mean EVERY time he spoke about buddie

2. He’s also a fan of the show guys, yes yes he’s an actor and it has different implications I agree 100% but also if he’s choosing to ship his character or enjoy fan work that’s his prerogative and sure he can lurk privately like he has in the past but also he probably knows that implications aside fans who make that work will be ecstatic to see him actually liking the stuff

3. The man legit said he deleted social media at one point cos he didn’t wanna like or share stuff that’d accidentally give people false hope for buddie or bi Buck but he has silently agreed for years and he hated not being able to confirm bi buck till now

4. He’s been a HUGE advocate for us both on the buddie front and bi buck front and that deserves recognition

5. As you said there is a LOT of bucktommy love rn which is great and all but may draw focus away from buddie, if Oliver is intentionally trying to get buddie fans to keep going it could genuinely just to show that buddie fans are still aiming for buddie endgame and that they still make up a huge portion of the fandom

6. Writing is CONSTANTLY in progress on 911 so again buddie fans being more vocal and abc and writers seeing such positive responses to him so much as interacting with buddie posts or answering buddie questions give them a gauge of audience’s wants (granted Tim has stated it’s not a HUGE factor for him) and also keep in mind s8 is still in the books so even proposals of storylines may be in the talks rn

7. When he talks he is VERY careful about his words and is very well spoken on the topic like yes there have been more stuff we can read into and be optimistic about but you can tell that he in no way is saying specific things to bait people, when talking about existing buddie things he talks about HIS interpretation and uses lots of maybes and might’ve beens and I see how that could be and when he talks about future buddie he talks about being open to it talks about what he’d want from it and he talks about not having control or knowledge of it happening

So yeah he has done/said things that I absolutely think warrant optimism (I made a whole post about it) but if it doesn’t pan out that optimism should a- still be there b- not turn into blame for him

Okay now Oliver aside- the questions being asked about buddie and all the buddie promotions I would be side eyeing the higher ups for if it’s for nothing because yes all the articles and stuff are stuff being pre-approved by abc and the people higher up than cast members or the journalists but I would also keep in mind that s8 is still in the works so hope is not lost even if s7 isn’t what we hoped for because keep in mind we had only 10 eps to work with too

Emma has pre-recorded something halloween-y to upload on the 31st so she can go out and party but still keep her fans happy! She’s going as Sidney Prescott, the final girl of Scream, and has convinced you to match costumes with her! Wether you’re another slasher victim or the slasher themselves is up to you, just know that she’ll be taking as many photos as she possibly can <3 She’s going to have a cute halloween picture of the two of you as her wallpaper for the next 5 months so make sure you look good…

Abigail isn’t a party person, but if that’s your thing she’ll go along with it— just not for too long. When you’ve gotten tired of partying (if you do so at all) she’ll be waiting at home for you. But don’t worry! She’s not mad, after all, everyone enjoys some alone time! She’ll snuggle into you for some movie time and probably fall asleep halfway through lol. She isn’t one for full costumes for halloween, but she’s definitely going to put some effort into some cute but spooky makeup for the day like bat-wing eyeliner or spiderwebs on her cheeks! <3

It’s definitely happening. He’s also 100% handing out candy to kids and complimenting their choice of costumes, he’s very cute like that ;)

Ryan absolutely LOVES halloween, and has made a movie lineup for the two of you 2 weeks in advance… He’s going to dress up as someone from an old horror movie that has an iconic yet subtle outfit, like one of the characters from The Blair Witch Project or someone from a Saw movie (which are a couple of his halloween favourites :)) He’s definitely going to talk through most of the movies, telling you random shit about them and picking apart plot holes but it’ll be fun anyways.

Although he loves attention, believe it or not, Jacob isn’t a fan of parties, he also isn’t a fan of horror, so picking out a fun halloween activity that both of you will enjoy is going to be a struggle. If you’re set on watching horror for halloween night, he’s going to be clinging to your arm the whole time and hiding under a blanket (he’s definitely cute like this though so no complaints) please reassure him and give him plenty of kisses when you’re going to go to sleep though because he’s gonna be scared shitless

Hellooo! Quick question because I desperately want to talk to someone about Twins: am I the only one who thinks Koh is trying to set up First and Zee/Sprite? I feel like it’s the only reason he ever became friends with Zee all of a sudden when he hated him before, and every time he sees them together he eyes them all curious. Like in ep 7 when Koh and Zee entered the locker room together and First was there waiting, all jealous? It felt like Koh deliberately left them alone because he’d wanted to make First jealous. And in ep 8, after First and Zee’s kiss, they join the others for game night and Koh looks at them like he knows they just had a moment together. My question is just if he’s doing it because he sees the tension and wants the two to get together once and for all, or if there’s an ulterior motive involved. Koh was really not a fan of Zee’s before, so maybe he’s trying to catch them and out them online or something, like the photo of the two of them sitting close to each other that was put online before? I’m just really suspicious and I don’t trust Koh, especially after seeing how hostile he was in the beginning of the series. Do you see that too or am I going crazy?

Oh, Koh is definitely up to something. Just look at this shot: Koh smirking evily at his phone as Daew prays in the background. The roommates in Twins each seem to be polar opposites, so I feel like Daew is meant to represent good, while Koh is meant to represent evil. I just don't know why 😭

To be quite honest, I wasn't paying enough attention to the volleyball plot in the first half and I haven't had time to go back and watch it again, but I feel like the answer is probably hidden in there somewhere. Is Koh one of the alternates? I truly can't remember.

My best guess is that Koh has figured out that "Zee" is not actually Zee and is hoping that if Sprite and First get together, he can reveal Sprite's secret at some opportune moment and therefore rattle both Sprite and First as they head into the second round of try-outs.

Or maybe I'm totally off base, but something is definitely going on with Koh because Frame and Ryan have been running the promotional circuit with Kong for the past two weeks and now I'm half-convinced this is going to be the show that finally gives us that threesome we've all been asking for 😂

I love the snippets everyone is sharing but 😭 am I the only person who read that from what they'e filmed (and they're halfway through!) the marisol thing is gonna work out? and that people are just reading into buddie "at their own volition"?

...i really have no clue where, from the little information we've gained about the season, you're getting the idea that the thing with marisol is gonna work out?? ryan has barely talked about it whenever he's been given the opportunity?? it's pretty much been a footnote in all the articles so far—as for filming, we only know that edy was on set a couple of times which tells us absolutely nothing.

and btw, with whatever oliver and ryan have said about buddie—with the whole "at their own volition" thing—they literally cannot say any more than this. they cannot be all wink-wink nudge-nudge about it. they cannot straight-up say that they want buck and eddie to be in a romantic relationship. they cannot talk about what might happen in the future. both oliver and ryan have been saying the same thing for years—they appreciate the enthusiasm of the fans, they don't know where the writers will take the story, they're down for anything, etc etc. we're never gonna get anything more than this out of them.

arriving at hackett’s quarry, voices all around you. shouts of fun, screams of shock. it was your second time being a counselor at this camp—hackett’s quarry being a second home to you. you inhaled the air into your lungs as the memories resurfaced from the last time you were here. you were on good terms with everyone but you were closer with some… more than others.

jacob and you tend to argue often but you had the best dynamic. abi was your closest friend.. but you were close with all the girls. dylan was like a brother to you and so was ryan. nick and you were friends but everyone knew there was something more to it. whenever you two hung out, it was pure laughs and enjoyment. whenever it came down to it, you two would always pick each other for duo activities, camp activities, everything.

nick showed off around you, using whatever resources he could get at the moment to show off some bizarre skill. you guys were always so caught up in the moment you never got his number before you left last year. you could only hope nothing between you two changed, including your mutual feelings. you didn’t want him to fall for you, the pain after he would break up with you would hurt the most.

“y/n! i missed you sooo much.” emma cooed, leaning in for a hug. “hi emma,” you chuckled and left a kiss on her cheek. “i think everyone else is already setting their..“ emma rolled her eyes, probably thinking of something that happened with jacob. “whatever.” scoffing, emma picked up one bag and you grabbed the other. once you got into the camp cabins, you remember the exact places you once put your items.

placing them right where they were before, you finished up and laid down on your bed. reminiscing about the memories of when you and nick would sneak into each other’s cabins and just play around, you waited for him in your room. one time, nick snuck into your cabin at around midnight, scaring the shit out of you. “y/n, let me in!” nick whisper-shouted at your window. you could tell he was smiling by his voice and the little giggles emitting from his throat.

“nick, what are you doing?!” you rushed to get up and out of bed, looking out the window. “you scared me.. god!” walking over to the door you scoffed. a quiet ‘sorry’ came from nick’s mouth as he ran from the window to the door. “why are you even here!?” you say and rubbed your eyes. you knew you didn’t look your best so you walked to the bathroom and quickly ran your morning routine.. at midnight.

nick shrugged, “i dunno! i just.. wanted to hang out i guess.” he looked at you in the mirror of the bathroom. you rolled your eyes as you brushed your teeth, making him chuckle a bit. you finished at set your toothbrush on the counter, splashing your face with some cold water than drying it off. nick sat on your bed, looking at some of your belongings and observing his surroundings.

you didn’t wanna leave him unattended so you quickly scurried back into the main room. that was one of your favorite nights there, you and nick had so much fun in just a couple hours. when you woke up, you and nick were on the floor wrapped together with a singular blanket. emma secretly took photos—yet, all three of you got in trouble. it was fun, so fun. but, you worried for nick. you never wanted him to fall for you and you didn’t want to attach. yet, you did no matter what.

a knock on your cabin snapped you out of your thoughts, “come in!” you said. “hey, uh, can i get your number?” the familiar voice came from your favorite face. nick’s australian accent always made your heart melt, no matter the volume or tone. he opened the door, bashful and red. nick scratched the back of his head as he walked in and shut the door. “so that’s the first thing you say to me?” a chuckle bubbled in the back of your throat. “well, i mean..” a less serious tone came from nick. “yeah, hand me your phone.” you had less than a couple hours to keep your phones before turning them in, so you quickly input your number into nick’s phone.

he set your contact as “y/n 💗” with a cheeky smile on his face. “so,” nick said as he slipped his phone into your back pocket. “we’re back here once again!” he outstretched his arms and waited for a hug. you didn’t want to reject the hug so you wrapped your arms around his chest. “i missed you,” you put your head in the crook of nick’s neck. you couldn’t see it, but he was smiling from ear to ear. his soft hug contrasted from his strong feelings.

“i missed you, too.” nick swayed you two from side to side, a moment of silence between you two. it was just sitting in each other’s presence that made you two happy—yet, you two never officially got together. the two of you were unaware of your mutual feelings even though it was completely obvious to anyone else at the camp.

nick and you talked for quite awhile, than remembered you had other things to do than talk to each other. once everyone had settled in, you all met at the lodge to eat. “so, how’s your influencer life?” you sat beside emma, kaitlyn being next to you. “very, veeerry good.” emma sung. “yeah, sure. don’t forget us when you’re famous.” kaitlyn looks over at emma and snickers. “as if i would!”

“dude, nick, just confess to them. d’you know what you look like right now? you literally look like you’re gonna start drooling.” jacob exaggerated. nick sat pretty far away from you, at a separate table with the boys. “you’re fucking whipped. too far gone..” dylan leaned back and crossed his arms. nick paid no attention to them, simply staring at you.

you finished your sentence and looked over at nick. he was already looking at you and he looked so adorable. nick’s eyes widened for a moment, shyly waving and look away. you fondly smiled, going back to the conversation at hand. “y/n, is this middle school? just go up to him and say you like him!” emma huffed and stared you down.

“exactly. this… tension—“ you looked over at kaitlyn. “romantic tension.. whatever you wanna call it is exhausting.” you sighed, feeding your thoughts that nick had liked you back. “i say go for it. that’s how me and emma got together.” abi smiled, raising her and emma’s intertwined hands.

jacob looked over and saw abi and emma’s raised hands. “see, they’re talking about relationships now!” jacob scoffed and pointed at them. “no, they’re talking about lesbians now.” dylan squinted, as if he was pointing out something obvious. “..what? really?” jacob questioned. nick continued to eat and snicker.

after eating, nick immediately decided to ask you to walk around with him. you said yeah and toured the camp you already knew. “the trees at this time of year… they look so spooky!” you walked closer to nick, scared by the force of the wind shaking the branches.

“it’s fine, i’ll protect you!” nick linked your arms, giggling. “i don’t need a knight in shining armor. instead, you’ll be my damsel in distress.” you scoffed, raising your other arm to show off your muscles. “you wish!” nick pushed your hand down, walking into you from how much he was laughing.

“i could save you from falling for me.” you winked, layers to that. “i already have,” nick slowed to a halt. you still took it as a hoke, walking forward. “it seems my job as your savior has failed. lovers, we shall be!” you say, heart secretly racing. realizing nick stopped, you turn around. “i’m serious, y/n.”

you stopped and stared at nick. “well shit, guess i’ll have to protect you from falling for anyone else now.” you practically jumped into his arms, a chaste kiss square on nick’s lips. it was short and sweet, but nick pulled you back in for more kisses. it was filled with love and endearment, his tongue swiping against your bottom lip. nick had his arms wrapped around your waist, your hands resting on his shoulders.

once you pulled away, satisfied with his and your kiss nick spoke. “i could never fall for anyone else.” nick smiled, a slight chuckle slipping from his lips as he let you go.

"hello?" you ask, twirling the landline phone cord between your index and middle finger. "shit, sorry hun.." you notice the voice instantly, its your husband Nick. "sorry forr..?" you trail off, now curious. "um.. ill be home late again." his voice is low and laced with slight malice. "oh." is all you manage to say. you turn to look back in the dining room. your children are sitting happily at the table, eating spaghetti bowls.

"are you upset?" he questions, slightly nervous. "no! its fine.. ill put your food in the fridge then.." you mumble into the speaker. he sighs before speaking again. "listen, i gotta go but ill be back when you wake up. promise." he tries to sound as cheery as possible, but you can see right through the act. "okay, bye! i love you." you murmur with a small smile as the line clicks.

something is up, you can tell. you set the phone down before heading into the dining room and picking up your husbands plate. your daughter looks up at you, her curly pigtails bouncing as she swings her legs off the chair. “mommy… where’s daddy..?” she asks, her voice laced with worry. “baby, he’s fine.. he’s just caught up with work again.” you manage a smile. she nods before going back to eating.

about 4 hours later, you hear the door open and the familiar leather shoe footsteps. your husband in all his glory walks into the living room. “well hi there..” Nick says with a small grin. he walks over to you, sitting beside you on the sofa. “how was work..?” you ask, resting your head on his shoulder. he shrugs, “boring, as per usual.” the way he says it makes you giggle. “you’re sweaty, my love.” you kiss his cheek, making him smile again.

“ouch.” he jokes, standing up again. “i’ll go have a shower then.” you nod and watch as he turns around. “and by the way, could you find me that book.. um.. the one about criminology!” he recalls, to which you respond with a small “yup!” before you too, stand up.

you hear him walk up the stairs as you reach the bookshelf. as you look around, you spot a small knob out of the corner of your eye. you try to ignore it, thinking your vision is just playing tricks on you again. that is, until a passing train nearby causes the knob to rattle. you quirk your eyebrow, setting the newly found book down on the coffee table before inspecting the round knob closer.

as you get a better look, you realise that it belongs to a trapdoor that you happen to have never noticed. ‘strange..’ you think to yourself before turning it slowly. you’d think it’d be locked, considering you’ve never noticed it in your 8 years of living in your house. but it isn’t. the door slowly creaks open and the light from inside the living room shines into the small space.

upon further inspection, you spot a few candles, all of which definitely had been lit within the last few hours considering the faint smell of candle smoke. but also another thing worth noting, the two large stones with writing etched into them. one’s been fully covered, the second having almost just been started. you can only read the last 3 lines of the second stone.

“i told you everything i know, officer.” you stated. it was true. despite the image’s continuing to pass through your mind, you couldn’t think of anything that you hadn’t mentioned. 

“well, could you go over it again?” you huffed, glancing at the handsome officer seated in front of you, “i told you. i went to the washroom, someone was washing their hands. i entered the stall, locked the door as i did so, i noticed through the crack of the door, a black man and a white man entered the washroom. you know the rest.”

you sat in john’s small apartment, waiting for his return. he’d called earlier, claiming that you needed to pack your bags and he would take you home.

it was abrupt, concerning. but you did as he said anyways. your bags were packed and ready to go.

you wondered what caused the change of heart. as of this morning, he was still insisting you stick around. and now he was willing to send you back to your village. 

it was all strange. 

suddenly, john burst through the door, breathing heavily. you caught sight of red liquid blooming through his white button up shirt. your eyes widened, “mr. book-“

“get your stuff,” he panted, heading toward the bathroom, “mr. book!” you called, watching as the man leaned against the door, breathing deeply. 

you cautiously moved towards him, placing a gentle hand upon his shoulder, “john.” 

he finally glanced at you, hazel eyes swimming with worry. “are you okay?” you asked softly. he licked his lips, nodding, “fine. i’m fine.” and without another word, he slipped into the bathroom, leaving you to await his return.

the drive to your village was silent, the only sound being the hum of the engine. you glanced up at the man in the driver’s seat. his face held a stoic expression, gaze fixated on the road ahead. 

and yet he seemed troubled. you wished to ask what was bothering him, but refrained. surely you’d only irritate him further. 

his large hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, turning it as the vehicle entered through the open gates of her community village. he continued driving until you spotted the familiar figures of your mother and father. 

“stop here.” 

but the car continued to roll forward.��

you glanced over at john, only to see him

blinking slowly, his body tilting forward slightly. “john? john!” he slumped forward, the car continuing to move forward. 

you could hear your father screaming, “look out!” 

and before you knew it, the vehicle smashed into the large oak, smoke billowing from under the hood. thankfully, neither of you had received any injuries.

you immediately looked to john, trying to wake him. your eyes darted to the blood blooming through his shirt. you knew something was wrong! this had to be it! your fingers tugged on the fabric, ripping it away to get a better look at the wound. 

it had been poorly bandaged, but considering the size, you assumed it to be a gunshot wound.  your father rushed towards your side of the car, throwing the door open, “Bistu gut!?” (are you alright?)

“yo, ober er iz nisht! ikh darf rufn an ambulance!” (yes, but he’s not! i need you to call an ambulance!) you were so panicked that your two languages were mixing now. 

john groaned, “no, no ambulance.” he muttered weakly. “what do you mean? you are hurt john, you need medical attention!” 

“they’ll find me.” 

you furrowed your brows, “who will find you?” you asked softly. the man let out a shakey sigh, taking your hand, giving it a firm squeeze, “no hospitals.”

you glanced at your father, “bet di mame zi zal tsugreytn meyn tsimer far im, bite.” (ask mama to prepare my room for him, please.)

your father shook his head, “mir kenen nit dem mentsh-“ (we don’t know this person.)

“papa please.” you begged, your voice cracking in desperation. your father hesitated for a moment before nodding, and rushing back to the house. 

you turned back to john, holding his hand a little tighter, whispering, “just hold on.”

it had been two days since you and your family had taken john book into your home, and he’d yet to awaken. 

you hadn’t left his side.

your mother was kind and had been taking care of him. she’d patched up his side and given him antibiotics to fight off the infection. but you had seen such a different side of him these past two days.

it was strange how such a strong person became weak in the matter of a second. john had been trembling, talking deliriously as the fever got to him. his dialogue spanned from threats to pleas. it was hard to watch. 

“i’ll fucking kill you-back off.” 

“don’t even try it, don’t fucking try it.” 

“just let me die. i’ve got nothin’ to live for.”

“you wanna kill me? go for it, put me out of my damn misery.” 

your mother tried to will you to leave him during these times, but you refused. at one point, it was getting so bad that you moved to leave, but then he called your name.

it was soft, a whimper. one could barely make it out, but he said it. so you stayed. 

it was the third morning when he finally awoke. you had fallen asleep in the chair beside the bed, completely exhausted. 

but your eyes had fluttered open to see john gazing at you. you couldn’t fight the smile that spread across your lips, “hi john.” you greeted, leaning forward.

“hi doll.” he replied, his voice soft. “how are you feeling?” 

“shitty.” you suppressed a laugh, “you pulled through, we didn’t know if you’d make it.” 

“well i’m a survivor, that’s what i do.” 

you rose from your seat, moving towards the door, “i’ll let my mother know you’re up, so we can get you some real food.” as you turned the corner, he called you back, “hey-“

you peeked around the doorway, “yes?” 

“thank you, for saving my life.” 

you smiled softly, “you’re welcome.” and without another word, exited the room.

a week or so had passed since john came to stay in your home, and he’d quickly grown accustomed to your lifestyle. being jewish, you had specific rules you had to follow.

one could not mix milk and meat, one could not eat pork, one must not profane God’s name and so many more.

but john was doing his best to follow them all. 

but there was one rule that he was struggling to follow, and it wasn’t one set by the jewish community, but by your father. 

stay away from my daughter.

you didn’t know about this rule of course, which led you to spend more time with the man. 

and in all honesty… you were falling for him. 

maybe it was his devilishly handsome looks, his charm and charisma, his dedication to pleasing your community. 

there was no doubt about it, your feelings grew stronger every time you were around him. 

little did you know, he was feeling the very same way. 

sparks were flying, and there was nothing anyone could do to stop it. 

one night, you were in your room, saying your prayers, when someone knocked. “who is it?” you called.

“john.” 

“come in.” 

the door creaked open to reveal the handsome man, he sent you a smile as he approached the bed, “can i..?”

“yes, sit.” he did so, the mattress dipped slightly. he glanced at you, noticing your folded hands. “was i interrupting?” 

“oh, it’s fine-“

“no, no, go ahead, you can continue.” smiling softly, you closed your eyes to continue praying, but paused.

you opened them again, looking up at the man, “would you like to pray with me?” john seemed surprised to say the least, but, he nodded, “uh, yeah, sure.”

you watched as he folded his hands, bowing his head, eyes closed. you did the same, reciting a nightly prayer, “Praised are You, Adonai, our God, Ruler of the universe, who closes my eyes in sleep, my eyelids in slumber.

May it be Your will, Adonai, My God and the God of my ancestors, to lie me down in peace..”

unbeknownst to you, john had opened his eyes and was watching you-no-admiring you as you spoke. john had tried his best to keep his feelings out of this situation.. but he couldn’t help but fall for you.

you were everything he wasn’t, and it worked so well. you were all he needed. and he wanted you more then anything. 

you had finished up your prayer, opening your eyes to find john staring at you. you tilted your head, eyes narrowing in confusion, “what?”

the man remained silent, but instead, scooted closer to you. your furrowed your brows, “john?” 

the way he was looking at you now was overwhelming, and yet you yearned for more. slowly, he leaned in, hazel eyes darting to your lips.  

you were waiting, waiting for him to make a move. but he stilled, as though nervous.

‘just kiss me.’

unable to control yourself, you tilted your head upwards, capturing his lips in a short kiss. you pulled away quickly, seeing how he hadn’t reciprocated the action. 

worry set in, had you misread the signs? immediately you rose, “i-i’m sorry,” you went to move towards the door, but felt a large hand catch your wrist, whirling you back around, “come back here,” he mumbled before smashing his lips against yours. 

the act caught you by the surprise, but it didn’t take you long to melt into it, your arms snaking around his neck, his muscular arms holding your waist.

it was the most intimate thing you’d ever done, and you wanted so much more of it.

a few days had passed since john kissed you, or you kissed him. and you two of you had been doing everything you could to hide your “relationship.” sneaking kisses behind your family’s back, although, unbeknownst to you, your mother had caught you and john once, but had said nothing. happy to know you’d found someone who truly cared about you.

it was a fun little fantasy, and you enjoyed every second of it. 

but it came too an end too quickly.

john had finally tried to contact his partner, a nice man named elton carter, had been killed.

and that is when you received the news. 

“go back? you’re leaving?” 

he nodded, “yeah, tomorrow morning.” his voice was low, sad. he truly didn’t want to leave—he didn’t want to leave you.

“will you come back?” you knew why he had to go, but you could only hope he might return.

“i’ll try.” 

you felt tears sting your eyes, “i don’t want you to go, john.” you whispered, your voice cracking. he smiled softly, stepping towards you, engulfing you in a tight embrace. 

your body shook as you broke down in sobs, burying your head into his chest. “why must you go..?” 

“i know. i know.” he rested his head upon your head, “it will work out. i promise.” he whispered, pecking the top of your head.

that is how you spent the rest of the night. he laid with you, holding you close. cherishing every second with you… unaware of the terrors that would await in the morning.

you awoke alone. you heard john downstairs, surely preparing to leave. 

you wished to bid him off. you quickly got out of bed, for once not carrying that you were still in the same clothes from the night before. 

you hurried down the stairs, trying to keep your emotions in check, but was surprised to find john standing there, looking shaken.

you immediately knew that something was wrong. 

“what’s the matter?” 

“they’re here. they found me.” you felt panic set in immediately. “h-how?” “i don’t know, but you gotta-“

“book!” 

your father and mother suddenly appeared by the staircase, worry in their eyes, “what’s going on? book, who are those people?” 

he turned to them, “i need you both to hide, go out the back, find someplace safe.” they didn’t  hesitate to run off. he glanced at you, “go with them.” 

you shook your head, “no.”

“doll, now is not the time to be stubborn-“

“book! we know you’re in there!” 

“john, i’m not leaving you alone with them!”

the man retrieved his handgun from the waistband of his pants, retrieving ammo from his pocket, “don’t you understand? they are going to try and kill me, they’ll try and hurt you too.”

“then i go down fighting.”

“no!” 

“book!” they were at the door now. 

you and john each exchanged wide eyed glances before you beckoned him upstairs. he followed quickly. the two of you entered your bedroom just as you heard the door break open downstairs. the only way out would be through the window and jumping off of the roof, which was somewhat safe considering the grass could cushion the fall. 

you threw open the window, beckoning him forward, but he shook his head, “you first! i’ll meet you on the ground!” 

you didn’t argue, but climbed out the window, careful not to hurt yourself. you then began to crawl towards the edge of the roof, when you heard a scuffle. 

someone had found him. everything in you told you to turn back, to help, but what could you do? you had no weapon, you hardly knew how to fight. . so you continued on. you were about to jump off the edge, when a gunshot echoed throughout the air. 

you whipped around, waiting to see who exited the window. praying it would be john. 

a wave of relief washed over you as you spotted the man. he was alive, he was okay. 

now assured that he was safe, you jumped down, landing on your backside, which wasn’t too painful considering the fluffy grass your father worked so hard to maintain.

as you rose, you caught sight of a man, who was now rushing towards you. you ran, but he was faster. he practically tackled you, confining you from moving. you thrashed, shouting, “john!” 

he was standing on the roof, eyes widening at the sight. “no!” 

you called his name again, but paused midway, feeling the cold metal of the barrel of a gun against your temple. 

you were more afraid then ever. you watched as john jumped off, tucking and rolling somehow before rushing toward you.

“don’t come any closer!” the man holding you shouted, pressing the gun harder against your head. 

“she has nothing to do with it, paul, let her go.” john was oddly calm. if only you knew how scared he was in that moment knowing that in the blink of an eye, he could lose you. 

“i’ll kill her, back the fuck up, book!” 

john shook his head, “no you won’t. mcphee’s dead, he’s the real murderer. you think you can kill am innocent woman, paul?” 

you could feel the man, who you now knew to be paul, trembling. 

“you can’t do it. you’re weak, always have been. and you know it.” john snarled. 

“drop the gun and let her go.” 

the man adjusted his grip on the gun in hand, and you closed your eyes in fear, terrified of what could happen. 

and then he dropped the gun. 

and he let you go. 

you stumbled forward, but john was there to catch you. he pulled you close, kissing you more passionately then ever before. he then pulled away, hugging you to his chest.

“it’s okay. you’re safe now… it’s over.”

john book was a free man. free to return to the station. they’d assign him a new partner and he’d continue on.

but how was he supposed to leave you?

you sat on the porch, watching him walk to his car, which he’d fixed himself whilst staying with you. he’d said his goodbyes, thanked your family for their help.

there was nothing else to do… was there? 

he pulled open the door, climbing into the drivers seat, closing it behind him. 

and you still sat there. waiting for something, anything to happen. you watched as he pulled out onto the road, and began to drive away.

you couldn’t believe it.

he’d really left. 

with a heavy heart, you sighed, rising from the porch steps, moving towards the door to return inside-

but the sounds of tires screeching caught your attention. you turned, to see john’s car whipping around, screeching to a halt in front of your home.

the man then threw the door open, running toward you, practically jumping up the porch steps. his hands flew to your waist, lifting you up slightly as he kissed you hard. 

the fireworks were there once again as he spun you around, your lips dancing in sync with his. 

he then set you down, pulling away, his signature crooked grin upon his lips. “what-i-i don’t understand.” you were breathless due to the intensity of the kiss.

“i want you.” 

you were taken aback. “what?” 

“you. i want you-i want to be with you.” he clarified, cupping your face with his large hands as he kissed you again. 

“i love you.  and i want to be with you. i don’t give a damn what i have to do-hell, i’ll even convert to judaism if i have too-“

you kissed him, silencing his rambling. a moment passed and you pulled away, smiling softly, “i love you too, john.” 

he let out a surprised chuckle, as though he couldn’t believe you felt the same way. 

“yeah?”

you nodded, “yeah.” he then kissed you again, and again, and again, as though he was incapable of stopping. 

funny how such a horrid tragedy could turn into such a beautiful love story, never would you expect for such a thing to happen.

and yet it had for you and john. and you had never been happier.

What is even the point of having Aegon sexually violate his mother??!!! Had a cringefest yesterday with my friend after reading that speculation. The sad part is none of this shi* is beyond Hess...and even Ryan, who openly implied in the GOT Con that Daemon was probably 'in love' with Viserys. They were ready to take inc£st to a whole new level. 😭

I think there is a great trap that is absolutely inherent in George RR Martin's writing, in general.

His stories are built on an incredibly subversive and nihilistic foundation that was meant to challenge fantasy tropes that J.R.R. Tolkien and Robert Howard created in the 1930s/1940s.

However, the problem with that is that GRRM has the discipline - most of the time (Read @duxbelisarius military analysis of "The Dance) - to know what the line is for his universe and how far one can take the nihilistic nature of the story and then pull it back. the Dunk & Egg stories are a masterclass in that type of 1960's Marvel Age morality tales in which doing the right thing is the hardest thing to do and you don't get rewarded for it, but the main characters do it anyway and it costs them dearly every time.

However, if you don't recognize that, than the ASoIaF Universe with all it's Nihilism and Brutality is just the type of world that is seductive to lazy and bad writers to dream up and bring into existence some of the most horrific and degenerate situations, because, they believe that is the world of "Game of Thrones". They believe that everything is awful and bad things happen to people all the time. So they can make or write something exploitive, because, they believe it is in the very DNA of Westeros.

That type of small minded thinking is also tempting for someone who has a personal mission to write in their political or social agenda to torture and languish female characters by turning every male character into a monstrous rapist, abuser, or generally unhinged in order to make some bullshit Sapphic social commentary about the treatment of women in the real world and how men hold all the power and patriarchy and all that bullshit.

The issue remains that they fundamentally don't understand the Jack Kirby and Stan Lee type of morals that GRRM is trying to set down. Yes, bad things happen. Yes, humanity is capable of true evil. And the right thing is hard and can be stupid, and you can be punished for doing it. But that doesn't mean that you don't do it. GRRM is constantly taking characters and evolving or degrading their morality, based on the Marvel Age principle of the 1960s Comics he grew up loving.

You give a writer a story in Westeros and they'll show you what kind of storyteller, good or bad, they are by the end of it.

Hi! Sorry it's taken me a while to answer this.

It sounds like you're describing Bottom, the '90s sitcom where Rik and Ade played two broadly middle aged bastards at the bottom (get it?) of society, loafing about, being pervy, and causing chaos. It isn't quite as surreal as The Young Ones, but it does feature lots of slapstick violence - Richie and Eddie have at least one very creative physical fight per episode - and there are occasions where something extra mad will happen, like the ceiling caving in, underpants being filled with custard, and fire farts (to name a few examples). Christopher Ryan also appears in a few episodes as one of Eddie's mates, Dave Hedgehog.

One of the original inspirations for Bottom was Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot, which Rik and Ade both loved and thought was funny. It was one of the things they bonded over at uni, and the two of them got to star in a run of it in the early '90s (again, with Christopher Ryan).

There were three series of Bottom from 1991-1995, totalling at 18 episodes. All episodes were available on Dailymotion the last time I checked - in fact, I have a post somewhere on this blog with links to them, though it may very well be outdated by now. If you have a mooch around online, you should be able to find them.

The reason I'm guessing you mean Bottom is because Richie Richard and Eddie Hitler live together in a (disgusting) flat in Hammersmith, and there are some episodes set entirely within this horrid hovel. However, Filthy, Rich and Catflap also sees Richie Rich and Eddie Catflap sharing a (not quite as disgusting) flat, but these characters were a bit younger - and, to be honest, Bottom is the more highly regarded of the two sitcoms, though I don't think FR&C is anywhere near as bad as some critics made out.

Rik and Ade made five live stage shows for Bottom (Bottom Live) between 1993-2003. In fact, the fifth Bottom Live was the last substantial work they did together. All five of these have been available on YouTube for some years, so I assume they still are. I personally just slightly prefer the sitcom (or maybe I'm just jealous I can't go and see Bottom Live 😂), and I think a general rule of thumb is the quality does decline a little across the five (apologies to my comedy gods, although I think Ade might agree with me), but they are all absolutely worth a watch. Rik and Ade break character in them from time to time, and they're allowed to say fuck.

They also made a Bottom film in 1999 called Guest House Paradiso, which features Simon Pegg. Rik and Ade play the same characters, but now they run an appalling hotel on the Isle of Wight and their surnames are different (which Ade acknowledged when I went to see him touring with his autobiography was inexplicable). The film is not for the weak of stomach, certainly not for anyone with emetophobia, and unfortunately it does suffer from the curse of most sitcom movies apart from Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa in that it doesn't quite translate. To be fair, they didn't have a massive budget, and it happened only a year after Rik's accident (they were both meant to direct it, but Ade took on full directing duties as a result of this). Still, it's not unfunny, and I think it's available on Dailymotion; if you like Bottom, you should give it a watch. I wonder what a Bottom film set in the original world of the sitcom would've been like...

Barbie was so good?!? Fucking loved every minute of it, but special shout-out to some things...

I'll be honest, I had very few Barbie dolls growing up, I had a medium sized doll house that was not for Barbie-height-toys, and so most of my toys were random figurines collected over the years (shout-out to the McDonald's Happy Meal Narnia toys!), but I was still getting pumped at the beginning of this film when the narrator went into detail about how Barbie can have any career, any life she wants etc.

The attention to detail in Barbie-land, like the pools/sea are all flat and not actually wet, there’s no actual liquid in the cups when they drink, no water in the shower etc.

Look, I will fully admit that HOTD has fucked my brain and my taste in men up, and so I'm blaming that for me looking at Ryan Gosling as Ken and going "yes I would like to obliterate that twink" 🙈

There were a lot of kids in my screening who absolutely did NOT get the "beach you off" joke, meanwhile I was sitting there laughing embarrassingly loudly like an idiot

Why was Allan a whole ass mood, I'm sorry but he was so relatable, arguably the best character I fear-

Not gonna lie, I felt Sasha’s little monologue where she rants about the unrealistic standards set by Barbie like I see both sides of what Barbie represents and how she can be viewed and I get it. Like on the one hand, hooray for girls growing up having a doll that can show them they can be Presidents, Nobel Piece winners, doctors etc., hooray for all the feminism to come from Barbie. But also you could argue that there’s unreal expectations in regards to Barbie’s body shape, and that when we girls grow up into women, we realise that the Real World is not as simple as what we dreamt of while playing with Barbies, that our world doesn’t revolve around having women in positions of power, that we still very much live in a society where women are viewed as being there solely for men, as home makers and wives and mothers, that we can have a certain amount of freedom and power but not too much etc.

Did I kind of guess "hey maybe it's not the daughter who has triggered Barbie's crisis, maybe it's the mother"? Yes, I guessed that early on but I still loved it anyway

instead of being enraged with all the bucktommy shippers, maybe step back and take a breath and re-evaluate your views a little. buck deserves time to explore his sexuality and flesh out his coming out story and tommy is a perfect vessel for it. as far as we know, eddie doesn't even suspect that he's queer yet and having been raised mexican catholic he's going to have a lot to untangle before he's ready for buck. it would be a disservice to them both to push them together too soon. patience.

Based on all the posts and comments I've been seeing on social media, and YouTube in particular, I'm honestly starting to think that we won't get Buddie at all. I hate to admit it, but its starting to look like its just wishful thinking, especially when someone pointed out that Ryan Guzman claimed he doesn't see Eddie going that way. I don't know where the hell that came from, but if its true and Ryan DOESN'T want Eddie & Buck to hook up as a couple, that really sucks because I know so many fans have had their heart set on it for a long time like me. Even the pictures for the recent episode, that one in the restaurant, Eddie doesn't look jealous at all. And I hate to say it, but fan fiction might be the only real romantic Buddie we'll ever get. ☹️😭 At this point, I'm going to try and be happy for Buck and hope he finds someone as amazing as Eddie, whether that be a guy or a girl. At least we got half of what we wanted from our two favorite guys so I'm going to try and consider that a win for now. Whatever happens next. . .I'll just enjoy watching them either way. i’ll give a rant for also loving my boy while i polish some stuff up but-

I am very much a “bran will be king” truther, i think there’s a lot of evidence for that that people kinda looked past bc they don’t find him interesting, bc they got into this series for the politics and not like, the fantasy aspects lol, but I do have like several ~scenarios~ for him, it’s just that “king of what’s left of westeros” is my favorite bc of the bittersweet aspect of it.

but part of why i think bran’s ending is kind of hard for everyone to grasp, is bc the show just didn’t give a shit about him (like, STATED they didn’t care about the fantasy aspects & i love to shittalk miguel & ryan & sara but at least they are Aware And Excited about the magic aspects of Terros). book readers tend to overlook him in favor of dany (the other big magical character) because george finds writing bran difficult and writing dany easier so we have like 50 dany chapters for every one of bran’s. but whereas there’s several dany chapters dedicated to world building, character introspection, magic, and politics EACH, bran gets all those themes kinda rolled up into these fleeting, monster chapters that are dense as fuck to read. EYE don’t mind that, but giving him like a third the amount of chapters as dany (or jon or tyrion or arya) is just REALLY setting that kid up to fail. but george has really explicitly stated he struggles with characters that are young, and he’s clearly talking about bran (probably sansa, sometimes arya as well) so it’s kinda. i get his struggle!! but he also clearly loves bran as a character bc the chapters we get are real rich!

but d&d don’t even give us what’s on the page bc they do not care!!! so it’s so hard to really pin down what the fuck is going on with bran, bc i truly think they cut most of the notes george gave them about bran, possibly even gave parts of his story to others bc “it would be cooler”, and then used him almost exclusively for exposition & shock value. like, for all we know, the long night is also very short in the books bc of something bran did while in the north, but those two thought it would be cooler if it was just one battle.

[sidebar but like i mean, also jon is a big magical character, but rn jon is less “a magical character” and more “a character that has magic happen to him” bc he’s still a bit uncomfortable about being a warg, bc the logistics & morality of it freak him out. honestly that’s a good thing for jon, bc look at what “do magic first ask questions later” has gotten dany and bran (and theoretically robb). being inside ghost is certainly going to change his outlook on magic & cause another identity crisis, but i don’t think the magical side is where jon is going to struggle morally]

[also i do think the long night is likely to be a little longer, because i think they’re getting to the trident, but potentially they only fuck the north and riverlands and not anywhere else because of something bran does. idk man. for all he goes on about aragorn’s tax policies, he has done with the wights & others exactly what’s done with the orcs. makes me wonder if there’s some plot about the others that involves bran befriending & humanizing a section of them & d&d went “that’s weird and boring” and cut it, like the way the director for i am legend changed the ending to that suicide grenade scene even tho the book ending is so objectively better that will smith said he’s gonna do a second movie but with the cut ending aksjjd. my evidence so far for that is like, negative evidence, which doesn’t make for good meta, so i’m excited to get to adwd so i can reread bran’s chapters in like, ya know, a year 😭]
