⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ a daring smirk tugged endlessly on the blonde’s lips. her deep brown eyes flickered up at her older brother. not muttering a single word , she picked at the cuticles of her finger nails.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❝ if you didn’t ask such stupid questions , you wouldn’t get a smart ass remark,❞ hel commented before looking up from her glass of mead, ❝ father said you were in a mood , and it’s clear that he was right.❞

Kings and their subjects
It's such a shock for me to see have fucking envious the nobles are in this event. Like I know that it's Hades and that Leviathan is the biggest offender of this sin. But see Glasyalabolas and Barbatos getting jealous taken me aback.
Maybe cause they never show that side in the main story before. They've only show their devotion to Leviathan. We've seen in Gehenna that some would be honored getting hit by Satan... If it isn't from him getting upset or angry.
Avisos/Abyssos let Beelzebub pierce or give them on the spot or invite them. In Tartaros, you are literally Mammon's property.
Mentally preparing for what extreme side of devotion for Niflheim, Abaddon, and Paradise Lost.
Also
Tumblr media
I wasn't that surprise about this level of devotion to Leviathan with them fine being choke to the point Leviathan say "This isn't punishment anymore"
This reminds me of how fucking devoted people with some of the Royal family in the past are or in old history.
Since I grew up being taught to be my own individual and choose who I should follow base on what I think is the right leader. I could see people being taken aback by this kind of behavior.
Even if the devils in WHB tells you that, you are free to do whatever you want. They themselves are slave to their internal instinct to follow and be devoted to their kings, especially the 72 devils/nobles.
I think that PB did the right thing and made sure that the Kings themselves aren't tyrant or like a bad ruler.
All four has shown that they do care for their people, and nobles. Sure they might choke, kick, etc. But they aren't taking advantage of them or using them in the wrong way if you know what I mean.
For me, The kings are whether or not they know it. Are slaves to their sins. They carry the burden of enduring feeling (Wrath, Greed, Envy, Gluttony, Pride, Lust, and Sloth) to the point that it may have something to do with their "Mental illness"
Imagine living your none ending life, feeling one sin and you can't ignore it. That would be torture.
Maybe that's why they are fascinated by Solomon and MC, they have the same desire and vices as they are, but they have the freedom of whether or not to act upon them.

something to be said for how Lucis is defined by death and niflheim is defined by undeath in ffxv. like they were NOT subtle about what was gonna do down with their protagonist and antagonist lmao. niflheim literally lives with the corpse of a god who still lives at their doorstep; their whole military runs on the power of the undeath that plagues their world. and meanwhile every ruler of Lucis dresses in black and finds their strength in the tombs of their ancestors. there’s this reverence for death, a sense that the primary purpose of every king or queen is to eventually die and make their kingdom and lineage stronger in the process. a whole long line of sacrificial lambs who are destined to die young, if for no other reason than that their own magic is slowly tearing them apart. so yeah, no fucking wonder the main antagonist is actually someone unnaturally kept alive for far too long, and the protagonist is someone quite literally born for the express purpose of dying young. fucked up!!!

Personnel File 9: Nyx Ulric
Though the original Personnel Files were for the other glaives, we thought we'd do one with Nyx to try to gather his information in one place. We hope it helps!
From the facebook blurb:
Tumblr media
Name: Nyx - Greek - (can also be transliterated Nux) - Night, and the greek goddess thereof, a daughter of Chaos, mother of Sleep (Hypnos), Death (Thanatos), Day (Hemera) or even Dawn (Eos), etc. Her Roman equivalent is Nox, the genetive form of which is Noctis (of Night/of a Night/of the Night). [[Setting up the Nyx & Noctis, Selena & Luna parallels.]]
Ulric - English - probably Wolf Ruler, from Wulfric. Interesting Ulrics include Lenore Ulric, a silver screen hearthrob and Ulric Dahlgren, an interesting officer in the American Civil War. Or German - Ruler of all, or homestead/heritage + Rich, usually spelled Ulrich in modern times, though historically such variations as Uodalric or Odalrici make an h a slightly trivial difference. Interesting Ulrics include St. Ulrich of Augsburg, a warrior bishop who defended the city and Ulrich von Liechtenstein, an alias used in the movie A Knight’s Tale. The Germanic language origin is a little unusual among the Glaives. Perhaps a sign of a family origin connected to Niflheim?
Age: 32
Tumblr media
[[From the wiki.]]
Equipment: - Battle Uniform - Nyx has a very unique battle uniform that draws on some of the others' styles but has no real match. Even the base elements of the uniform are modified, such as the zipper on the inside of his boots that make them much more practical to get on and off than most of the glaives', and a silver cuff around his right leg that is part of his thigh holster, but is reminiscent of Drautos’s.
His other sheath for his kukri at the small of his back is not in an unusual placement for a weapon among the glaive, though the horizontal draw is a little unique, but he lacks the external belts most of the other glaives have [[how is it attached?!]]. Even his silver mask is modified to have a curved horn on the right side that evokes the coeurl in his concept art. (Different from Ramuh’s horned staff)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[[Also from the wiki, Nyx's and Ramuh]]
Some of the completely unique elements include two oversleeves made of animal materials. On his left, he has a furred sleeve that is starts under the yoke part of the regular uniform, peeks out of the shoulder cutout in the short sleeve that is part of the jacket and then dangles out the bottom of it, fading from dark to light as it becomes a rectangle of more standard cloth-like texture that forms an open sleeve.  On the right, he has a wider piece of some sort of black reptilian hide that drapes completely over his sleeve (not unlike Tredd’s on that same side, but wilder in shape and fabric) and stops at his elbow in v-shaped tatters. Somewhere underneath this half-cape, half-sleeve is also where the long, trailing purple-ish ribbons attach to his back, at the same location as Luche’s hanging fangs do.
Over the top of the whole thing, he wears a double chain that arcs from his shoulder to attach to one of the buttons on his front, which has no other matches in his fellow glaives or anything even similar.
Tumblr media
[[Also from the wiki, which has so many beautiful images]]
The rest of his battle uniform seems to be a leather-embellished combination of the other common uniform types: he has a folded-collar dickie that straps under the arm, with his Kingsglaive badge over his right breast, but it is made of a crocodile-like leather rather than the garland-pattern fabric seen on Luche’s; he has a symmetrical yoke reinforcing his shoulders with silver spikes on top, but smaller and without the shoulder protection of the kind Libertus has.
Tumblr media
[[Look, just go look at the wiki if you haven't already. It's awesome.]]
-Standard Uniform: Nyx’s standard uniform is also rather unique. For one, he wears his kukris with his standard uniform while walking the halls of the Citadel, whereas usually the standard uniform is worn without weapons at all. The double chain of his battle uniform also is kept for his standard uniform, which is the only accessory we see carry over among the glaives.
Like Luche and Libertus, Nyx’s uniform has silver rather than black on the “stripes” of braid between the buttons of the front, which is unique to the three of them and possibly an indicator of rank.
Underneath the jacket, Nyx wears a fairly normal shirt with the standard sword design and a silver-ornamented vest that zips up the front, but also has an unusual set of criss-crossed belts with beads and other embellishments hanging from them.
While not confirmed to be standard or not, Nyx's pants are the only ones we see without boots on, and his end just below the knee, where they appear to be rolled or cuffed.
Tumblr media
[[Screenshot showing his normal right glove courtesy of @starjunco]]
Nyx’s gloves are mismatched. The left has reinforcement of some sort across the back, but doesn’t actually cover the fingers in any way, instead having loops over the fingers to keep the back from sliding off, perhaps to leave more flexibility for magic or spinning his kukris as he often does. The right is the standard black fingerless gloves most glaives have.
-Casual Wear: Even if Nyx is not seen in casual wear directly, he does own some, and it hangs above his bed. He appears to have a thin hoody, undershirt, and socks.
-Kukris: Nyx’s kukris are unique among the glaive, like most of his equipment. Most of the Kingsglaive seems to favor longer blades, as a rule, and usually just one. Nyx’s blades have matching decoration along the hilt and are about the same size, but are otherwise rather different:
Galahdan: The Galahdan Kukri has two fangs (like on Libertus and Luche's uniforms) hanging off the pommel and has a somewhat normal shape. The sheath for the Galahdan kukri has two smaller blades, probably used to sharpen it and/or for utility (rather than martial) usage, based on its real-life counterparts.
Insomnian: The kukri made in Insomnia has a dark spine which has a concave curve to it, so that there is a large blunt edge to across to the tip that makes it look almost like a hatchet. It has a series of beads hanging from the pommel instead of fangs. This is the kukri he throws at Tredd and the others when he cannot warp and that Libertus later finds.
Identifying marks: Nyx bears a lightning-patterned scar across his chest, originating in a knot on his right pec. It is unknown if this is actually a scar from lightning damage, as the popular image of Lichtenberg figures usually disappear within days if they occur at all, though, granted, it could be from the recent battle.
He also bears several characteristic tattoos: an arrow and dot on his right cheek near a scar, a dot and blade below his left eye, dots and lines along the shell and lobe of his right ear, a dot cuff around his left ear, two crossing lines down his throat, crossing lines above each shoulder blade, a cuff around his left forearm, a line down his left middle finger and right index finger from the cuticle almost to the last knuckle, and a cuff around his right leg halfway up the shin, and possibly more.
Tumblr media
[[Screenshot courtesy of @starjunco]]
Personality: He is brave and loyal, respected enough in the Kingsglaive for King Regis to recognize him on sight. Nyx’s loyalty is well known to the Glaives and Regis, but it only goes so far, as seen when he pushes back against the Lucii and even Regis about the collateral damage from the plan to sacrifice Insomnia for Noctis. He is equally loyal to Galahd, given his plans to return to defend it.
He is known as the Hero of the Kingsglaive, though he seems to resent it, and seems to be rather well-respected by most of his fellow glaives, for the most part.
He disobeys the order to retreat to rescue Libertus. When questioned by Captain Drautos, Nyx tells him he holds the motto of the glaive “For Hearth and Home” over all other orders, so he wouldn’t leave a comrade behind. Disobedience seems to be not unusual behavior, but he also does not do it lightly, as he hesitates for a good while before going to Libertus’s aid to analyze the situation.
Nyx appears to favor silent contemplation to both intellectual and emotional puzzles. He works through his feelings regarding the treaty and Crowe's death in silence, and the puzzle of the tracking device for the most part, only reaching out to Pelna for help gathering information he can't otherwise get without telling him much about the situation, and not informing Luna of any of his theories regarding the tracker until they are proven. Similarly, he is quiet through Petra's taunts at the gate, enduring rather than fighting back.
He is far from stoic, however, quipping through battles and social interactions with memorable lines, and is willing to chew out anyone when push comes to shove.
Nyx suffers from PTSD related to his sister’s death. He experiences flashbacks hearing her call for help multiple times, including during the infiltration of the airship which causes him to miss a warp. Though his talk with Luna might show that he is willing to try to live on as Selena would want, he doesn’t get a chance to do much to prove that, and even after it he tells the Lucii that his life is “nothing”.
Tumblr media
Relationships: He is from Galahd, where he and Libertus grew up together. His little sister Selena was killed during an attack on Galahd when he was 20. His mother was alive during the attack on Galahd, but her fate afterwards is not mentioned. The pictures on his corkboard hint at his father and/or uncle figure, as well someone who looks like Luche, who also hails from Galahd.
Nyx, Libertus, Luche, Crowe, and Pelna meet together after hours, which appears to be a fairly common occurrence. Pelna claims to owe him, and Crowe calls out for him when he goes back to save Libertus. His relationship with Libertus is more complicated, but obviously has a long history.
He looks up to King Regis and claims to owe him a debt, and is visibly worked up over his death despite Nyx's anger with him over the situation of the treaty. He obeys his final order, though whether that is from loyalty to Regis or Luna is unclear.
He was personally mentored by Captain Drautos, and seems to be on familiar terms with him, since Captain Drautos tells Nyx to not call him sir and he likely discussed his sister’s death with him, as he knows to bring it up in their final battle.
Despite his grief and his exasperation with her conviction and actions, Nyx warms to Luna fairly quickly, protecting her and working with her, and sharing his history with his sister as they hide.
Death: When Nyx arrives at Section D during the escape with Lunafreya, Luche shoots him twice with hollow point bullets. He is unable to stand from his injuries, but when Lunafreya tries to put on the ring, he takes it from her and puts it on instead. He asks the Lucii to call the Old Wall and protect the city, but they ask Nyx to sacrifice Libertus or Lunafreya for the power. Nyx refuses to sacrifice either of them, and instead barters his own life for the power of the Lucii. They grant Nyx use of their power until sunrise. Nyx uses the Lucii’s magic to defeat Glauca and give Libertus time to get Lunafreya out of Insomnia. At dawn, Nyx dies, burned by the Lucii’s magic.
When Noctis and company return to Insomnia, Nyx's legacy is shown in two items: his kukris carried by a psychomancer (possibly Nyx, possibly Drautos, possibly just a daemon who found them) and in the figure of his burned body in the throne room as part of Ardyn's decorations.
Behind-the-scenes: Nyx is voiced in English by Aaron Paul, best known as playing Jesse Pickman on Breaking Bad. (Break your heart with these clips of Nyx) He is voiced by Gô Ayano in Japanese, who is usually in front of the camera; this is his only credited role as a Voice Actor.
Johan Akaz (Johan Picard in the movie credits) Nyx's face model, is an actual model irl. French. His birthday is May 16, which has interesting applications if you want to use it for Nyx’s. A Model Fansite claims he is 6’0”/1.83m tall.
Neil Newbon was Nyx's mocap model, and also portrayed Petra (mocap and voice - this is part of the reason Nyx is so stoic in his scene with Petra, as his usual actor is occupied) and other roles. He has also been a Voice Actor for several video games (VA and mocap for Detroit: Become Human, among others) and acted more traditionally. IMDB and his sites claim he is 6’2”/1.88m and a trained martial artist. He now runs a company for training mocap actors.
Hope this helps! Let us know if we missed anything or messed up right and left again.
Good luck with Nyx Week and all your work.

Niflheim
A realm of mist and potential. The habitable region where Niflheim and Muspelheim meet is called the Ginnungagap.
Muspelheim
Musphelheim is a realm of flames. The ruler of this realm is named Surtr, and he is the one destined to kill Freyr at Ragnarok.
Asgard
The home of the Aesir (including: Odin, Thor, and eventually many members of the Vanir). Asgard is protected by a mighty wall, and the creation of that wall has a fairly interesting myth associated with it.
Midgard
Where humans live; Earth (sometimes called Middle-Earth). The gods have been known to visit Earth and occasionally intervene with human affairs both on large and small scales.
Jotunheim
A realm of nature and home to powerful beings of ice and earth, the Jotuns. Some Aesir occasionally visit Jotunheim for adventures and mischief (commonly Thor and Loki).
Vanaheim
Original home to the Vanir (including Njord, Freyr, and Freyja). Vanaheim and Asgard initially began as enemies, but through a messy series of hostage trades and murders, a truce was eventually reached. The Vanir and Aesir successfully cohabitate and have intermarried on a few occasions.
Alfheim
Little is known about Alfheim, other than that it is home to the "light-elves" (or "fairies"). It is commonly thought to be a beautiful, ethereal realm which holds the Vanir god Freyr as its Lord.
Svartalfheim
Home to the "dark-elves" (or "dwarves"). Loki and Freyja are known to have visited this realm seeking the famous craftsmanship of the dwarves. Freyja sought a gorgeous necklace and Loki sought to offer gifts to the other gods (through this process, Thor's hammer Mjolnir was made).
Helheim
The realm that is home to those who pass away in ways other than battle (many people view dying of certain illnesses constitutes as a metaphorical battle, and would thus grant the individual entry to the other afterlife option: residence in Odin's hall Valhalla. This view is valid to me, with the caveat that I don't view Helheim as a lesser realm, or a realm where exclusively "dishonorable" folks reside). Loki and Angrboda's daughter Hel rules over this realm.

relinquish the crown outtake: a trinket
Series Masterlist
Placement: Before the main story, a few years after 'midgardian amusements'
Summary: Loki returns to Asgard from an extended trip with a gift for you
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Word Count: 2.3k
Warnings (trust me you need these): themes of incest (he's adopted but still); apart from that, none, really…this is kinda fluffy… [if i missed any let me know and i'll update immediately]
Things to be aware of: Reader is still painfully oblivious
Tumblr media
The sun was at its peak in Asgard when Loki had returned from his trip to Niflheim to consult and negotiate with its rulers. It was strange; normally he would be itching to return home after trips such as this, especially given how monotonous meetings like this had become over the past millennia. But this time he found himself taking a detour to Midgard before returning, to acquire a trinket. A token of…what would it be? His affection? His obsession? His questionable and relentless lust?
"Prince Loki, at the risk of overstepping, the affections you're feeling for her are…debauched," Heimdall spoke once he crossed the border of the Bifrost, ready to walk the bridge and make his way back to the palace. Back to you.
"I know not of what you speak, Heimdall," he attempted to deflect the words. He knew it was wanton. Indecent. To feel this way towards you, but it was a downward slope, and he was helpless against his nearly gravitational pull towards you.
He found himself thinking of you at the most inopportune times, and the images he'd conjured of the two of you in the darkest depths of his imagination had been keeping him warm at night ever since he met you. He couldn't even think of taking on a new lover; every offer in the last few years he'd taken down for the same reason.
None of them were you.
"Princess Y/N may not be your blood, but she is still your family. Your depravity may have been overlooked, perhaps even approved of, before Odin's rule. But we are living in new times, Your Highness. Desiring her the way that you do--"
"I would gladly appreciate it if you cease your prying into my life," he cut Heimdall off. "What I do when my chamber doors are closed, who I desire, and ultimately who I choose to give my affections to, is no one's concern but mine. Besides, you said it yourself. She is not my blood."
As he walked away, he failed to hear Heimdall's last words. "She will not love you the way you do. Not right away. It will take time."
He pieced together as he walked through the streets of Asgard that the kingdom was preparing for a banquet to celebrate the Summer Solstice. He made a note to stay at least long enough to attend. Perhaps even share a dance with you.
When he finally started walking among the palace halls, he could feel his step getting lighter, as if the anticipation to seeing you once more nearly made him fly. He couldn't make his way to you fast enough. That was how he nearly bowled over his mother, Queen Frigga, and her ladies in waiting. Thankfully, he was still acutely aware enough that he was able to stop himself from triggering the chaos.
"My son, you've returned! How fared Niflheim?"
"Mother. I'm glad to be home." He enveloped her in an embrace. "Tedious, as always, then again there is nothing quite as lively and invigorating as our home," he finished with his usual practiced grin. Back before he met you, the giggles from her ladies in waiting would have done wonders for his ego; now all he wanted was to see you scrunch your nose in his direction.
"And what of Midgard?" He eyed her, feigning confusion. "You reek of their machinery, Loki. You cannot mask that from me. You cannot mask much of anything from me. Remember that, my dear son. Come, ladies."
As they walked away, he heard one of them, your friend Astrid, ask her about his lack of courtship in the years past, to which he heard his mother reply, "Ah yes, well I'm afraid his affections have already been won by another. Effortlessly. Unknowingly. But he is hers nonetheless."
He couldn't find an appropriate word in their vocabulary to express the mortification he felt knowing that his mother had an inkling of his affections toward you. The Midgardians had the perfect word for it, though. Fuck.
When he finally found his way outside your chambers, he took a steadying breath, smoothing his hair, before knocking on your door. "Enter," you commanded through the door. Loki couldn't help but smile at the carefree tone of your voice. When he stepped through your doors and entered your chambers, he took a quick sweep of the room, noting the neat stacks of books and the journals on a study desk. He noted the four-poster bed with the sheer gold curtains, the sheets set in a luxurious black silk, making his thoughts go down a sensual route that he would rather do away from your presence, so he looked away.
And then he saw you, sitting in front of a vanity, fiddling with a black silk dress with gold detailing exposing your shoulders and clavicle, before turning around and greeting him with a bright smile. "Loki!" You stood up from your vanity seat and rushed over to his open arms. "Welcome home."
Home. Funny how Asgard never felt more like home until he had you in his life, until he had you to come home to. And you weren't even aware of the effect your words had on him. "It's comforting to be home, darling. Especially if the welcome is this warm, and coming from the most beautiful maiden in the realm."
His words made you chuckle, scrunching your nose at him as he kept you in his embrace. "Alright alright, I get it. I'm glad to see you, too," you said, laughing off his remarks. When he realized he'd held you a little longer than would be seen as appropriate had anyone else been watching, he loosened his embrace, allowing you to step out of his arms and sit back in front of your vanity. "Tell me about Niflheim."
"There's really not much to tell, my dear," he answered as he sat on the edge of your bed, watching you contently through the reflection on your vanity. "The entire ordeal was quite tedious."
"Tedious how?" Your eyes met through the mirror, the action somehow feeling so bizarrely intimate for the god, as this moment placed a new fantasy in his imagination. Of watching you ready yourself in the morning, insisting on alleviating your staff of as much effort as possible, your hair still disheveled from the night before. Him watching you contently from the bed, the sheets still tangled around by his ankles, the morning breeze floating in through the balcony doors, ruffling your sheer dressing robe and his naked form.
Stop it. Right this moment. Not here. That future will not be yours. It cannot be yours. She can never be yours.
He snapped himself out of his reverie and recollected his thoughts, resuming his gaze at you in the looking glass. "Well, darling, imagine a group of dwarves all talking in the same intonation, same agonizingly slow pacing, their voices all melding into one." He imitated their voices with frightening accuracy, making you burst into chuckles.
"And what of the place?" you asked, delicately swiping some lipstick over your lips, hypnotizing him, bringing him back to his fantasies of being able to spend such intimate moments with you. Every day. As his lover. As his wife. Stop it, he scolded himself again.
"Irrationally dangerous," he answered you. "There's a mist that slowly consumes you once you step foot into it, an ever-changing maze that will guarantee you never find your way out lest you have remarkable survival skills. Or you can fly." You chuckled at his words once more. "Afterward I decided to pay a visit to Midgard…" he trailed off, conjuring a large, square jewelry box from his pocket dimension.
Tumblr media
As he opened it to reveal its contents, your eyes widened in wonder as you saw an exquisite choker necklace with gold chaining, pearls, and emeralds, the bottom tier consisting of more delicate chain links. "That's beautiful. Absolutely enchanting." You turned and stood from your seat, facing the necklace in person and slightly hovering your fingers above the intricate design. And then your face dropped by the slightest bit. "Is it for Astrid?"
The question perplexed Loki. "Astrid? Why would I acquire this for one of your friends?"
"Well, when I first introduced you to my friends she said--Well, aren't you two in courtship?"
Your question made him snort. "Darling, I am not courting Astrid. She approached me shortly after we were introduced a few years ago and expressed her intention to; however, I politely declined."
"Ah, I see." Your brows furrowed. "Well, the recipient of that marvelous trinket is a very fortunate lady. You have excellent taste."
He chuckled at your comment. "Y/N, it's yours."
You looked up at him with wide eyes shining with wonder. "Mine? You…You bought this for me?"
"Of course, darling." Who else owns me the way you do? Who else could possibly deserve my affections more than you?
"I don't know what to say," you said in a rush. "You shouldn't have. Truly. But thank you."
"Would you like to try it on?" Your eyes lit up as you nodded and a smile found its way to his face at the sight of your delight over something so simple. If that was all that it took then he would find reasons to gift you little trinkets at every turn, every opportunity. He motioned to your vanity seat, and you took the cue to sit back down, facing the mirror, one hand gathering all your hair to one side and the other deftly unclasping the gold band you were currently wearing.
The lurid thoughts of him pressing his lips to your exposed neck attacked his imagination. Every part of him ached to desperately. Instead, he reached around you and fastened the jewelry around your neck, his breath coming up short as he caught your reflection, how undoubtedly regal you looked with the intricate chaining decorating your décolletage. And what he absolutely was not prepared for was the image of you wearing his colors, looking like you were meant to be his after all.
It was all he could do not to tug you to your feet and lay his lips on yours.
"How do I look?" you asked, your eyes meeting his once more in the reflection.
He willed himself to stop the tears forming in his eyes as his mind was once again bombarded with a future he could only dream of with you. Then he stepped behind you, placing his hands on your shoulders and leaning down to bring his face level to yours. He had to mask his breath catching once more when he caught sight of you two together in the reflection, side by side.
It was as if you were made for each other.
"You look resplendent, my dear Y/N," he breathed out, never taking his eyes off yours in the mirror, as he pressed a tender kiss to your cheek. He felt your cheek move in a smile and it took all his strength to not stay and continue to press his luck. To pull away instead. "You will make an exquisite Queen of Asgard and the Nine Realms one day."
Your face fell at his words. "I erm…I do not wish to speak about my inevitable reign."
"Why ever not, Princess?"
You huffed. "The implications of my reign are…lonely." He felt you tense under his hold at the mention of the last word. He moved his hand to wrap around your upper arm so that he could rest his chin on your shoulder. "Me being Queen would mean everyone I love at this moment would be gone."
"Y/N, darling, I'm sure it's not everyone--"
"Let me count them down, shall I?" you cut him off. "Grandfather, and most likely Grandmother. Then Father would claim the throne, but for me to become Queen that would mean he'd be gone, too. And also most likely Mother shortly after. And then you."
Loki felt his heart flip in his chest at your words. "I'm on that list?" He couldn't focus on the notion that you believed he'd be dead by the time you ascended the throne. All he could hear was that he was among the people you loved.
"Of course you are!" you said with a chuckle. "Why wouldn't you be?"
He couldn't stop himself from doing what he'd done next. He allowed himself the simple indulgence of wrapping his arms around your waist and pressing another kiss to your cheek. "I promise you I will see the day you ascend the throne, my darling Princess."
If Loki thought your words had stopped his heart, your next actions might as well have plucked it straight from his chest. You laid your hand on the side of his face and tilted your head so you could press a kiss to his cheek as well. "Thank you," you whispered, so unaware of the emotions currently coursing through him. Completely unvexed by the proximity of your faces to one another. Norns, you were so close, one nudge in the wrong direction and he would have found himself with his lips on yours.
He needed to put some distance between you two, if only for the next few hours. Recompose himself. He placed one last kiss to the top of your head before making a move to stand upright and walk towards the door. "I'm afraid I must go, my dear. Get my wardrobe sorted for the banquet."
Your face lit up once more. "You're staying for the celebrations?"
"Of course, darling. Save me a dance?"
Your eyes softened as you scrunched your nose in his direction once more. "I'll save you as many dances as you wish, Loki."
All of them, he thought to himself. For the rest of our lives.

Gods of Death
Hel and Odin
It has been a while since I have posted something, but I have been doing a lot of reading and thinking, particularly about death. In this blog I want to look at Hel and Odin, who share some traits as gods who collect the dead, but who seem to be working in opposition to each other. Hel is an outsider just like her parent Loki. She is a jötunn (“giant, glutton, overeater”) born in Jotunheim, and a force of chaos and destruction, as opposed to the Aesir/Vanir, who mainly seem to be forces of creation and order. Odin, as god of war, however, does not shy away from causing a little chaos and destruction, but then, Odin is also of jötunn parentage.
Hel is described by Snorri as being half a corpse, monstrous like her siblings Fenrir, the giant wolf, and Jormungand, the giant serpent, but unlike them she takes a human form. The gods receive a prophecy (Prose Edda, Gylfaginning) concerning Loki’s monstrous offspring, and Odin has them brought from Jotunheim to Asgard. Jormungand is thrown into the sea, Hel is made ruler of the underworld, but Fenrir is fostered in Asgard. Why does Fenrir get this treatment? Perhaps simply because Odin likes wolves (he already has two pet wolves, Geri and Freki), or perhaps because he thinks the wolf will be an asset to him, as his dead warriors in Valhalla are. Hel is not given a place at Asgard, and she seems to be as much a prisoner of the underworld as she is its ruler, which to me suggests that the other gods see Hel as a danger to them. I think Hel embodies death or death of the gods. She is a harbinger of doom, and omen of Ragnarök. She is the daughter of Loki, after all, and Angrboda (“harm-bidder”, “bringer-of-sorrow”). What with Hel being half a corpse, she is a visible reminder of that which we will all one day become. The Norse gods are not immortal, and I think especially Odin is afraid of death and/or losing his mind, which would mean losing all the knowledge and experience he has gained (in Gylfaginning he says he is afraid of Huginn and Muninn not returning to him). On his wanderings, Odin queries spirits and jötunns about the afterlife and his own and his son’s demise. Is Odin trying to cheat death or to put it off as long as possible? He lets people who have died live on in his hall. These people make up his army that he will use to fight against the forces of death/chaos at Ragnarök. Hel could be a personification of death coming to stop Odin before he discovers the secret to not dying.
Before they are brought to Asgard, Hel and her brothers never harmed the gods, so by taking them from their home and banishing and chaining them, do they not have a hand in fulfilling the prophecy? If Hel is death, she cannot be killed, only temporarily ignored or warded off. Is this why the best thing Odin can do is to make her ruler of the underworld? She does not die and disappear there, but it seems she cannot leave either. She can still influence the other realms, though her influence only extends to taking in the shades of those who have died of old age and sickness.
What is this place Hel is made ruler of? The sources contradict each other. According to some, it is located under Niflheim (“Place of Mists”). In Baldur’s Dreams in the Poetic Edda, Hel is described as being located in Niflhel. In another tale it is said to be located under one of the roots of Yggdrasil, the world tree. In any case, Hel in Old Norse means ‘hidden’, so Helheim = Hidden Place. It seems fitting that there is no conclusive answer as to where it is, because it is not for us living people to know.
Niflheim is said to have existed before anything else did. It is a cold, dark and misty place, but it is not a void, it has material, it has rivers. The water running out of Niflheim turns to ice and fills up the Void (water = a source of life). It makes sense to me, therefore, that this is the sort of primordial place where people return to after they die to become material once again. When we think of someone dying, we picture them going somewhere else, but if, like me, you do not believe in any sort of afterlife, they are in fact not going anywhere. Still, they are no longer Here with us, we can’t see them or talk to them, and since Nowhere At All is kind of hard to imagine, we assume they must be Somewhere Else.
It seems to me that Folkvang, Freyja’s meadow where she receives half of those who have died in battle, and Valhalla are just temporary stops on the way to Somewhere Else (a.k.a. Hel, the Hidden Place). Valhalla in particular sounds like some terrible limbo, a Groundhog Day/Russian Doll kind of time loop, where the fallen warriors eat, drink, fight, die and rise again the next day to repeat the same process, until the inevitable end, Ragnarök, comes. Odin keeps his guests in a state of intoxicated forgetfulness.
Like Odin, Hel has an army of dead people, but unlike him she does not seem to have amassed it on purpose. She lends the dead people to her parent Loki, who captains this army at Ragnarök. Perhaps she wasn’t too happy about the fact that she and her brothers were kidnapped and then banished/locked up. Additionally, I think her function is to end everything so the cycle can begin again. Odin and the others need to make way for the next generation of gods.
If gods die, then, do they also go to Niflheim/Niflhel/Hel? It does appear to be the case. A feast is prepared in Hel for Baldur, and he goes there after he is killed by the mistletoe dart. He does not die in battle, but his death is an accident. Niflheim/Niflhel/Hel seems to be a place where ordinary people go, and where there is calm and rest. Snorri calls the being Hel cold, and uncaring about the fate of humankind, but that is just what a mortal person would say about death, isn’t it? Yes, death sometimes may seem cruel and unjust, but I suppose there is equality in death, and as Neil Gaiman wrote, we all get what everybody gets: a lifetime. Hel treats everybody the same, regardless of the life they have lived. They do not have to die honourably or prove themselves in battle to be granted entry to her realm. She also ends the suffering of those who are old and sick. As distressing as it may be to us, life cannot exist without death.
There are different motives that can be attributed to Odin and his thirst for knowledge. It could be a fear of death, wanting to stop the prophecies about Ragnarök becoming true, or a desire to make the most of his time in the face of his inevitable demise, or a bit of both. A relatable guy. I want to end this blog with a quote from Sayings of the High One: “Cheerful and merry every man should be, until he comes to death."

27. The Ancestral Witch.
Tumblr media
There is an altar in the back garden. Loki sits down and begins to meditate.
He hasn't said a word to me on the way home. I had to run to keep up with him.
I can't help but wonder about what he told me, about his people being hideous monsters. I want to tell him that he's beautiful to me, no matter what he looks like, but perhaps it would be better if I saw his people first with my own eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loki meditates for a long time, while I stand guard, ready to run to the basement to hold an exorcism if the spirit of an angry giant appears.
Strangely enough, the longer Loki meditates, the more the atmosphere changes. I can feel a warm and loving presence.
Loki calms down as well. For the first time in days, he seems happy.
Finally, a ghostly form approaches.
Tumblr media
Whoever she is, she is beautiful. She doesn't seem like a monster to me at all!
Loki looks up from the altar, his eyes wide.
"Mother?"
Tumblr media
"Hello, my dear Loki. Why are you so surprised? You called and I answered."
Tumblr media
Loki stands up and walks over. I have the feeling an exorcism might not be needed.
"I thought... I thought I was calling my ancestral witch. I expected a relative." Loki admits.
Tumblr media
"And am I not your Mother?" The woman asks with a soft smile.
I have to smile myself. Frigga! This must be Frigga, Loki and Thor's mother, I realise.
Loki hesitates and gives a strangled sob.
"You are. In every way that truly matters, you are!"
Tumblr media
I watch as Loki and Frigga embrace. For some reason, whatever just passed between them was significant to both of them.
Tumblr media
"I am sorry! I am so sorry! I didn't mean it! I didn't mean any of it..."
"I know," Frigga smiles. "I know you didn't mean it."
Loki doesn't seem to be in danger and I'm starting to feel like I'm intruding on a private moment. Quietly I retreat into the house to let Loki and his mother talk.
Tumblr media
I make a pot of tea and sit down. Loki might want some company afterwards.
Tumblr media
I hand him a cup of tea the moment he comes inside.
"That wasn't so bad, was it?" I ask with a smile. "I saw no monsters, just a loving family. Is she staying?"
Tumblr media
"No, she has returned to Valhalla. But if I need any advice, all I have to do is call and she will answer," Loki takes the teacup gratefully.
"What did she say?" I ask curiously.
Loki walks into the sitting room and sits down.
Tumblr media
"The reason I could not enter Valhalla was not personal. The gate is closed to all souls until Niflheim finds its new ruler," Loki begins.
"Well, that's good, right? At least you'll be able to go there when your time really comes," I say.
Tumblr media
"Yes," Loki smiles. "Perhaps I still have a chance. Mother also told me this whole endeavour to return me to life is not as much of a fool's errand as I was beginning to suspect it was going to be.
While Niflheim has no ruler, the barrier between life and death is thin. I haven't crossed over fully. There might be a way for me to return!"
"That's amazing! So what do we have to do?"
Tumblr media
"That is the bad news; Mother is not sure either. But she will consult with Father and with some of the other powerful witches that have passed on to Valhalla.
In the meantime, she has told me in no certain terms that it is important I find Thor."
"Did she suggest how?" I ask curiously.
"No, not in so many words. Just that Thor misses me terribly and that we need to set things right between us."
I think for a moment. It's not like there's a phone number you can call if you need an Avenger!
Tumblr media
"I'll text the others," I say. "We'll come up with something, I promise!"

WHB Lesser key: Hades
Did you wonder how much inspo they drew from the descriptions of the different demons of the Ars Goetia to create their characters and what that could point towards in terms of personality and powers? I did. You can find each character with it's respective descriptions here, divided by their respective factions.
The main link is this helpful little list of the 72 with summarized descriptions, so it's not an exhaustive list, just an organized one.
Gehenna | Tartaros | Hades | Avisos | Abaddon | Paradise Lost | Niflheim
Barbatos
Tumblr media
Barbatos is an Earl and Duke of Hell, ruling thirty legions of demons and has four kings as his companions to command his legions. He gives the understanding of the voices of the animals, says past and future, conciliates friends and rulers, and he can lead men to hidden treasures that have been hidden by the enchantment of magicians. His name seems to derive from Latin "barbatus", bearded, old man, philosopher. And once belonged to the angelic order of Virtues
Foras
Tumblr media
Foras (alternatively Forcas or Forrasis) is a powerful President of Hell, being obeyed by twenty-nine legions of demons. He teaches logic and ethics in all their branches, the virtues of all herbs and precious stones, can make a man witty, eloquent, invisible, and live long, and can discover treasures and recover lost things. He is depicted as a strong man. His name seems to derive from Latin foras (out, outside).
Glasyalabolas
Tumblr media
(Count/President) Glasya-Labolas (also Caacrinolaas, Caassimolar, Classyalabolas, Glassia-labolis, Glasya Labolas, Gaylos-Lobos) is a mighty President of Hell who commands thirty-six legions of demons. He is the author and captain of manslaughter and bloodshed, tells all things past and to come, gains the minds and love of friends and foes causing love among them if desired, incites homicides and can make a man invisible. He is depicted as a dog with the wings of a griffin.
Orias
Tumblr media
Orias (also spelled Oriax) is a Great Marquis of Hell, and has thirty legions of demons under his command. He knows and teaches the virtues of the stars and the mansions of the planets (the influence of each planet depending on the astrological sign in which it is in a specific moment and the influence of that sign on an individual depending on how the zodiac was configured at the moment of their birth or at the moment of asking a question to the astrologist); he also gives dignities, prelacies, and the favour of friends and foes, and can metamorphose a man into any shape.

Hel Norse Divine
@ghosting-medium helped write and edit this!
ᚺᛖᛚ (elder futhark)
Hel (old norse) Hell(e) (old english)
Her name comes from a root meaning, covered or hidden kinda like Hades and Frau Holle, and like a helmet or a helm, which is also the name of the realm which she resides in Helheim (old norse=Hel) also meaning “the grave” or to be put in your grave this land is not a place of punishment like the Christian Hell, it was more of a waiting place where Lady Hel takes in the “unchosen souls of the dead”. Helhiem was believed to be guarded by a giant wolf it’s disputed whether it’s her brother Fenrir or another wolf named Garm, Helheim is in one of the nine realms which is Niflheim, her plate and knife are named “hunger” and “famine”
She is the daughter of Loki and the giantess (or a jötunn) Angrboða; her brothers are Fenrir (Vánagandr or Fenris) and Jörmungandr (Midgard serpent). Some don’t realize the gods and giants aren’t different races but different families and titles as Hel was born of a god/goddess parent she has the title of goddess but she can also be referred to as a giantess.
She appears as half-blue or sometimes some say it translate to black both mean she’s half corpse/rotting and the other half is a flesh colored beautiful woman, she’s known to appear to her followers as either or both if she feels the need to scare you or shock you she may come as her rotting side or if she wants to come off more motherly she may show up as her flesh side, some say she has white or black hair it varies to person.
She also had a 3 legged horse also known as “Hel-horse” a scrawny boney white/yellow horse which in the “prose edda” she brought plague and death
She’s said to lead an army of undead souls into battle during Ragnarok to fight in a valley against the undead warriors of valhalla (Old Norse: Valhǫll) aka the hall of the slain or hall of the corpse.
She appears in Baldrs draumar and the Voluspa in the poetic edda also known as the “Elder edda”.
In Baldrs draumar you see her when she refuses to give Baldrs soul back to the other gods and keeps him in Helheim unless everything in the universe weeps for his “death” (gods in norse mythology don’t “die” they’re reborn in a way) when one giantess refuses to weep Hel keeps Baldr in Helheim till Ragnarok. It was known she treated him fairly and even gave him a seat beside her as a guest of honor in her hall.
Ullr was another god who visited Niflheim often so he often visited Hel in Helheim.
Why she was thrown from Asgard is disputed; some believe it was due to her looks that she made the other gods uncomfy, or that like her brothers the Æsir gods condemned her before she really did wrong leading to a self fulfilling prophecy, or that Odin gifted the hall to her.
Hel is the queen of afterlife and the caretaker of the dead in some sources she was also the main god who made decisions on judgements for who received punishments in Helheim as not all who went to Helheim go as punishment and it was said that Helheim had 2 sides.

Element
Earth - because of her ruling of the underworld, and being under the earth
Zodiac Sign
Scorpio - upg, but Scorpio deals with a lot of secrecy, privacy, shadows, and death
Cancer - upg, she’s “the one who hides or is covered”, since Cancer’s animal is the crab, and that is an animal that is covered by its hard shell. Many individuals that work with Lady Hel associate her with being motherly, but also strict. Cancer is the sign of nurturing, and emotions so it makes sense.
As for other zodiac signs, I would consider any zodiac signs near the end of the cycle. The zodiac cycle is associated with the cycle of life and death; so near the end of the cycle is going to be death. This could be signs like Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. There is no historical basis for this, as Norse Paganism didn’t really document or use zodiac signs.

Shadow Flame
Male Reader x Hela
Request - Hey, Bro it's been a while can I have a one-shot of Teenwolf Hellhound Male Reader x Hela. Thor and Loki see their sister Hela is sad being lonely, but she doesn't show it.
So Thor and Loki get Hela to go on some dates but they all fail making Thor, and Loki facepalm in frustration but Hela laughs at them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Every date that we set Hela it doesn't end well. She is very picky and doesn't give anyone a chance” Loki said.
“She won't settle for less, that's what she said. I actually thought the guy from last week, she was going to like but that didn't happen” Thor said.
“What are we going to do?” Loki asked.
Hela comes back from her date.
“What happened now. We just saw you at the restaurant ten minutes ago” Thor said.
“He was boring and stupid. No woman would ever date him. So I left him with a very expensive bill” Hela said.
Thor and Loki sighed. They believe Hela is lonely and has a hard time finding a partner. So Loki and Thor are playing matchmaker and so far they have no luck finding the perfect guy for Hela. She has been on six dates and all of them have ended very badly.
“You and Loki have terrible taste in men,” Hela said.
Thor and Loki facepalm in frustration and starts to Hela laugh.
----
Hela has been feeling lonely but she will never admit it. She hasn't been intimate with someone in centuries. The men she has met on the dates didn't make her feel anything. She won't settle for just anyone. Her brothers won't understand what kind of partner she is looking for. Hela is starting to believe that she won't meet her soulmate.
---
Hela goes to earth with her brothers. Thor and Loki will ask their friends if they know any single men for their sister. They are hoping their friends will know the answer so Hela can be happy.
They noticed dead bodies in the alley. They walked towards the dead bodies, they see you in your hell hound form and you look at them.
“They don't belong to you,” You said.
“Did you kill them?” Hela asked.
“No. I am a hell hound, Guardian Of The Supernatural, and Harbinger Of Death. I have to protect the supernatural from the human world. They are vampires and I can't let humans see them. Excuse me, I have to leave” You said.
Hela is intrigued by what you said. Hela followed you then Loki and Thor followed Hela. They watched you bury the bodies near a Nemeton. But something happened that Loki and Thor were speechless, they watched Hela get along with you.
“I am Hela The Asgardian goddess of death. The ruler of Hel and Niflheim” Hela said.
Your eyes opened wide “I have heard so many stories about you”
“You have? But you don't know who we are?” Loki asked.
“Hela is popular,” You said.
Hela couldn't help to smirk. She walked towards her brothers and you keep burying the bodies.
“Make him go out with me,” Hela said.
“Him?” Loki said.
“Yes, him,” Hela said.
Loki and Thor looked at each other. They walked towards you and Hela watches them.
“Do you want to go out with our sister?” Thor said.
“Are you serious?” You asked.
“Yes, we are serious. What do you say?” Loki said.
“Okay, sure I will go out with Hela,” You said.
“Good,” Thor said.
✬ ✫ ✬ ✫
You picked up Hela and she is shocked by the roses that you gave her.
“Black roses?” Hela asked.
“You don't like it? I thought you would like it, black roses are more beautiful than red roses” You said.
“Y/n, yes I agree the black roses are much better than red roses” Hela smiled.
You smiled at her. Thor and Loki do wonder how the date will end.
---
You and Hela did get something to eat at a nice restaurant. After dinner, you and Hela decided to sit on a bench and cause a little chaos. You laughed when Hela made two guys fight each other.
“Tell me, y/n have you always been a hell hound?” Hela said.
“For a very long time. From birth, I was told I have to protect the supernatural from the humans. I didn't have a choice to do what I want” You said.
“Do you like living on earth?” Hela asked.
“I like it. So much interesting stuff to do or see. You don't seem to enjoy earth” You said.
“It has its moments. It took a while to get used to living on earth” Hela said.
“I know how that feels. But I'm liking earth much more now” You said.
That made Hela smile and you smile at her. You and Hela start to open up a little more to each other. The conversation is going well and she is actually having a good time.
You take Hela home now her brothers want to know how it went.
“Tell us, how did the date with y/n go,” Thor said.
“Oh, it went well” Loki smiled.
“How do you know? She hasn't said anything” Thor said.
“Think about it, brother. She is smiling and hasn't said one word if the date ended badly. She is going to see him again” Loki said.
“Oh, you're right. Before she would complain how bad the guy is was or how boring he was” Thor said.
“Okay fine. I'm going to see y/n again and the date went well. He understands how being difficult and different can be hard to date” Hela said.
“This is great. You finally have a boyfriend” Thor smiled.
“He is not my boyfriend just yet,” Hela said.
“Oh he will be your boyfriend soon enough,” Loki said.
----
You and Hela start to see each other more. Your feelings for her starts to get stronger and you told her about it. You and Hela became an official couple. Thor and Loki are happy for you and Hela.
“So tell me y/n, dating the goddess of death doesn't scare you?” Loki asked.
“Should I be scared?” You asked.
Thor put his arm around you and smiled.
“No no no, you shouldn't be scared dating our sister. You can date her and maybe in the future get married to Hela” Thor smiled.
“We only have been dating, for a few weeks,” You said.
“That means years in New Asgard,” Loki said.
“Mhmm,” You said.
“It's true love between you and Hela, Y/n,” Thor said.
“She doesn't seem the type to get married?” You said unsure.
“You have a lot to learn about Hela,” Thor said.
✬ ✫ ✬ ✫
You changed to your true form. Now you have fangs, yellow eyes, and long claws. And you started to fight Halwyn and Hela wanted to step in and help. She takes out her double daggers and starts to fight Halwyn too. Halwyn tries to block your attacks and Hela’s daggers, but she starts to move faster.
Now, Halwyn has you against the car with a dagger pressing hard on your neck. Then Hela put her dragger through his chest, Halwyn moves back and he falls to the ground. You are breathing hard and Hela smirked at you.
“Wow, impressive,” You said.
“I know a few tricks, but I won't tell you about it” Hela smirked.
She put her hand behind your neck and she starts to kiss you hard.
------
Loki and Thor are in shock that Hela is still dating you. But they are happy at the same time and Hela does smile more when she is around you. Loki and Thor know that you took Hela on a date, they want to crash to see if you will ask her to marry you.
“Are you sure they are here?” Thor asked.
“There are right there by the tree,” Loki said.
Hela is sitting down and you have your head on her lap. She has her hand on your cheek and you kissed her hand.
“Do you think he will ask her?” Thor asked.
A dog started to bark at Loki and Thor, they ran out of the bushes. You and Hela saw what happened and you sat up, she glares at them.
“What are you idiots doing here?” Hela asked.
“Oh... Umm, we wanted to spend this nice day here at the park” Thor lied.
“I think you and Loki were watching us,” You said.
“Watching... Well, you are making it sound creepy. It was more like... the word is looking” Loki said
“Whatever, Loki,” You said.
You took Hela out to a picnic at the park. Earlier, she did create chaos and made two strangers fight, etc.
“Oh, you got snacks” Thor smiled.
Thor starts to eat the snacks and Loki sat next to you. Thor and Loki asked questions if you and Hela would get married.

Could I request some platonic headcanons of Bayonetta and Rodin to a reader who is also a witch, but instead of gaining magic from Inferno and Paradiso, they get their powers from the ruler of Niflheim Hel
Gender neutral perhaps?
Bayonetta and Rodin: Niflheim Blues
It's one thing to work with demons or angels, but gods will always surprise them both!
Rodin
"What's that gloomy old goddess up to?"
He means it with respect. People don't fuck with Niflheim often in his line of work.
He may or may not have accidentally turned a couple of her servants into weapons.
But to be fair, f=ck around, find out.
He just hopes you're doing okay since Niflheim comes with the downside of being cold a lot when using its magic.
Keep in mind that it seems that most people sent to Hel are people who died from sickness and/or old age, so you really only have the goddess to work with. And he generally avoids the gods since they can be pretty judgemental at times, so when you go all out with your magic, even going into Deadly Sin territory, he's like
Tumblr media
Does not want to work with Níðhögger. Not worth the fight and not worth trudging through the corpses of cheaters, murderers, and oath-breakers. At least for him.
Bayonetta
"Is it cold in here or is it just me?"
Made this joke once when you used your magic to summon Hel's hands and heels in a fight.
She learns more about the Norse gods and creatures to understand your powers more.
Cereza is always interested in your interests and is always there when you're trying something new with your magic.
Also, she won't judge you for not going with the classic Inferno demons.
Fun fact! Since you're going off of Niflheim, you can make challenges so you, Cereza, Viola, and Jeanne can all train together! Practice makes perfect, after all.

A Gift From The Rainbow
Fandom: God Of War
Relationship: Kratos/Heimdall
Characters: Kratos, Heimdall, Mimir, Freya, Tyr
Tags: Mpreg, cuddling, mention of miscarriage.
Note: Kratos & Heimdall are rulers in Asgard. Everyone survives Ragnarök.
And yes, I used some parts of 'YWBTTBS' fic, that's still in the making for this. Probably going to go back and redo it.
agapitós - beloved
The Wolf's Song is from "Ronja Rövardotter / Ronia the robber's daughter" written by Swedish writer, Astrid Lindgren.
------------------------
The Spartan trudged across the Bifrost. He, Freya, and Mimir spent a day helping the 9 realms recover from the despotic hold the All-father had placed upon them. The sun was already setting and added a chill to the air.
Walking alongside them, the retired war god, Týr. Whom they freed from his prison in Niflheim.
It was a tedious task, but in the end, it would help all the realms to heal. Right now, Kratos just wanted to be with his agapitós for being away from him as long and as well as their unborn child.
Both Kratos and Heimdall waited a bit in their relationship with each other and took care of some duties as rulers of Asgard. Heimdall decided, after some thoughts and discussion with Kratos, to have a child together.
The former god of war stalled a bit about starting a family with him. Heimdall understood his hesitance about starting a family after losing his first family because of Ares, then losing Faye because of an unforeseen circumstance. After some time of reassurance and patience, Kratos agreed to have a family again. They told Atreus about their plan to have a family. The boy was very excited to become a big brother.
Before it came to fruition, both traveled to Vanaheim to ask Heimdall's mothers, Blóðughadda, to change some parts of his body to carry a baby. They obliged and got excited about becoming a grandmother.
There were some struggles with conceiving the baby, nearly giving up on having a child together, then finally expecting, and they shared the news with their friends, family, and Asgard. The news of Heimdall's pregnancy spread within the nine realms, where everyone celebrated for them.
But it ended in heartbreak that the baby had stopped developing at 8 weeks, thus using herbs that Freya had gathered to make into a drink to help remove the fetus from Heimdall's body. Which was a painful process to watch the blond go through. The spartan held Heimdall close to him, while the god of foresight was sobbing in pain as the herbs did their work to remove the babe that they will never know from his body, Freya soothingly rubbing his lower back to help ease the pain.
Once the ordeal was done, Heimdall cleaned up. Atreus was let in the room with then, he mourned with them, losing a sibling he would never know. The boy put himself against Heimdall, where the two fell asleep together after shedding a few tears.
Kratos didn't want to see his beloved go through that pain anymore after the ordeal was done. He knew the whole nine realms had heard of this tragedy, and Asgardians were mourning with them, mourning a loss of an heir. Sif, she let Heimdall know it was not his fault that he lost the baby, that his body knew something was off about the baby.
The Spartan and the Aesir had stopped trying for a baby. They didn't think about when to start again until Heimdall felt sick and tired. The blond brushed it off as if he ate something bad, or he didn't sleep well, though it really didn't stop. Both of them had approached Freya to see if she could tell them what was wrong.
There she revealed Heimdall was pregnant again. 2 weeks pregnant to be exact, which was a shock/surprise for both of them. But the lingering fear Heimdall had after the miscarriage, the Vanir goddess, let him know it would be alright and that the baby would be ok.
Once the news of Heimdall being pregnant again went through Asgard, the Asgardians prayed for this pregnancy to stick for him.
True to her word, the baby was fine and growing. Already was 23 weeks pregnant.
“And so that’s what all happened. Now the nine realms can start their healing process.”
Týr gave a hum to Mimir, as he walked alongside the war god. "As it should be."
“But you know, Týr, the all-fuckers performance of you was convincing, but along with being a big coward.” Mimir disclosed to him.
The retired war god stopped once at the end of the Bifrost in Asgard. He stared at everything for a while, almost in a reminiscing his time being here before leaving.
"It has been a long time since I've been here..." He remarked, softly. His Bifrost eyes analyzing everything, he gave a relief of his breath that he held once, feeling the air didn't have that smoke that choked within Asgard. "A lot has changed, but now, there is a good change."
Kratos grunted. "Mn."
"Aye, but at least everything is working in order of healing!"
Freya spoke. "Everyone is at the great lodge. I'm sure we can find a room for you to have."
Týr stroked his beard. "I wonder if my old room is still there. Or that the all-father made sure it wasn't there."
"We would have to see."
********
The Spartan walked down the halls of the great lodge towards his quarters. He nodded to those that walked past him, saying nothing. Reaching his quarters, he took a deep breath before entering.
Sensing someone opening the door, Heimdall jerked his head from his book to the door to see the spartan entering, then closing the heavy door behind. He gave a relieved smile to Kratos as he put his book down on his lap.
He spoke. "Your back, finally. Did you and Freya run into trouble while helping within the nine realms?"
"Mn" The Spartan started to take off his armor, settling them down on the dresser and putting his weapons down. Tossing the blades of chaos without any care, but gently placed the leviathan ax down. He was in nothing else but his trousers, once finished he walked to the side of the bed and carefully climb on next to the blonde before settling down.
The blonde rolled his eyes. "I'll take that grunt as you did run into trouble. What happened?"
"Remaining Einherjar." Kratos grumbled, that made the blonde tense a bit once hearing about remaining soldiers of the all-fathers army.
"Where did you saw them?"
"Niflheim. They were standing guard to this old prison that Freya, Mimir and I never saw before."
Heimdall lifted a brow. "An old prison?"
Kratos gave a nod then continued. "When we defeated them, we went inside to explore it before running into Týr."
"Týr?! But... But I thought... Loki put the all-father's soul in a marble. How? How did… " Heimdall sputtered, panicking.
"It wasn't Odin. It was the real Týr, he heard of my name but couldn't remember."
The Blonde gave a sigh of relief and leaned back against the pillows. He touched the spot between his eyebrows to calm some remaining tension, sensing Kratos's hand against his stomach, he cast a glance over to Kratos, who adjusted himself on the bed and reached out to his belly.
Heimdall watches softly as the Spartan's hand settled upon his growing mound and gentle rubbed his belly with his thumb, the baby fluttered about.
"They missed you." Heimdall told, as he looked over to Kratos.
"Mn"
"When you left with Freya to help the realms, they were moving around. They stopped but kept going until I sang them a lullaby, then they settled down."
"What lullaby did you sang to them?" Kratos asked, as he removed his hand from his beloved's stomach and settled back.
Heimdall smiled. "Vargsången. The wolf song."
The Spartan lifted a brow. "Wolf song? Who taught you that?"
"Sköll and Hati. Loki wanted me to come along with him to Vanaheim, just to see them and to help the baby to settle down. Though when we were there, the baby wasn't really letting up their kicking, Hati had noticed my discomfort. Communicating with Loki, the wolf told him to teach me of 'The Wolf Song' to help, but of course communicating through Loki with the song. And it worked." Heimdall informed, he placed his hand in front of his stomach.
Kratos gave a subtle smirk to Heimdall, that made him blush all over, he scooted over to the blond before wrapping his arm around his shoulder to bring him close to him. The God of foresight, leaned against him, closing his eyes he took in the Spartan's scent; fresh and earthy like a forest.
He feels Kratos's hand against his hand on his stomach, softly he looked down to smile. "Our gift..." He whispered, happily.
"Our gift from the rainbow, agapitós."

Just a thought ... But Noctis being the one who betrays whole Insomnia and his friends? And then is backstabbed by Niflheim, who forces Noctis to run away? And  Luna is supposed to hunt him down, because of the Prophecy? All the Astrals and old rulers are on his ass for that.
Just a thought, you know  ...  Noctis really never really wanted be a ruler. And with council, his father, people of Insomnia pressuring him into it, he just simply had enough. And everything broke down, when  he accidentaly found out about the Prophecy. Call him selfish, but he didn´t want to be slaughtered as sacrificial lamb.
And maybe, just maybe ... Etro was the one who undertood his struggles.
