Tumblr media
Horror ate away at Shinso's conscience as he looked down at you in shock.
You, his beloved y/n who stuck with him through these difficult seven months of a new relationship. His one and only supporter, his first love, his best friend, and his partner.
He had promised you that he would never use his quirk on you unless it was related to training.
He promised, and he belived it too. He knew that he would never take control of your goregous mind.
And so why? Why did he let himself be so weak. So.. so out of control?
It was all a blur. He hadn't even realized that he activated his quirk that he despised so much. One second you were shouting at one another, and the next you were completely still, eyes holding no sign of their usual spark. That spark that was always present, the spark that he grew to adore.
He continued to yell though, not yet noticing that you weren't yourself.
"Why can't you tell that I did nothing! She grabbed my arm and I ignored her! I walked away without sparing her a glance- y/n she means nothing! You're the only one that I could ever possibly be interested in! So why are you being so stubborn!? Just- just stop!"
At his command you simply dropped the arms that were folded against your chest, going completely still.
That was when he realized that you weren't in your right mind- that it seemed like you were being controlled.
The realization broke his heart as he deactivated his quirk, causing your eyes to suddenly pop back to life.
Your face was contorted in confusion for a few moments before you slowly looked up at him in shock.
"Y-y/n I-I can explain." Shinso's voice was wobbly as he looked down at you, eyes wide in unbelieve, voice full of emotion. You've never seen him this shaken before, and to be honest it scared you. What.. happened?
"D-did you just control me? Hitoshi you better answer truthfully."
"I-I did but- please it was an accident- I- I swear-"
"Hitoshi.. you promised me you wouldn't. What happened?" You asked, tears in your eyes as your hands started to shake.
"I-I know baby I know but please it was an accident- I- I noticed when you stopped when I told you to-"
"How long did you control me Hitoshi?"
"Less then a minute- please y/n I didn't mean to!"
"But yet you still did. I- I can't look at you right now. I.. need some time."
"Y-y-y/n.." Shinso whispered, tears pooling at the edge of his eyes.
"Y/n... y/n please- I- I-"
"I-I'm just going to go.. I'll.. see you some other time."
"Y/n wait!"
"What is it.. Shinso?"
"I-I am so, so sorry. I'll understand if you're going to- to leave me."
"No, Sh- Hitoshi. I'm not going to leave you. I Just need some time to sort this out, okay? I'll text you when I get to my dorm, but other than that please don't contact me."
"O-okay.. I-I love you.."
"I- I love you too.."
~~
Three weeks later and you were still dreading talking to Shinso. You've texted him every few days to let him know that you were doing okay and you simply needed more time. He was understanding each time, and that calmed you down quite a bit.
You knew that you wouldn't be able to leave him. You've loved the boy for years. You fell in love with himin elementary school, admiring his quick wit and braveness fending off bully after bully. You admired him, you really did.
The two of you quickly became friends, and your love for him grew each day. You eventually worked up the courage to confess in your first grade of high school. He seemed hesitant, but he accepted your brunch date. After three dates in quick session he was the one to ask for the two of you to advance, which you accepted.
Less than a month in he confessed his love and you reciprocated his feelings. Five more months into your relationship and everything seemed so perfect. That is until girls started flocking him.
It made sense, he had recently gotten into the hero course and had outstanding looks. You would've been fine with it- but he didn't seem to mind.. at all. He wouldn't tell them to back off, or even tell them he was taken. He simply.. ignored them. It made you uncomfortable and you tried to reasonable about it, but he just wouldn't listen.
After a month of this back and forth you refused to be brushed off again and it ended up being both your first argument as a couple, and will probably be the worst one in at least a year or so.
You believed him when he said that he didn't mean to activate his quirk, but it still hurt. And you couldn't shake it off. You knew that you would forgive him, and this endless silence was breaking him, but you just needed more time. But you also knew that you couldn't wait much later or Shinso would be broken for at least a few months. And so, you scheduled a meet up. In three days, you texted Shinso to meet you in your favorite park to talk. He willingly agreed, and now you simply have to collect your thoughts.
~~Three days later~~
You took a deep breath as you looked yourself over in the mirror.
You were dressed casually, plain blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and a black leather jacket.
Looking over yourself worriedly, you smiled as you remember you complaining about this exact outfit to Shinso and how he told you that you looked nice. He hugged you from behind, gazing into your eyes lovingly before complimenting everything he loved about your outfit, accompanying each sentence with a kiss to your head, temple, forehead, cheeks, and then your nose.
He gazed into your eyes, taking your hand before telling you that you were gorgeous, and that he could never dream of anyone more perfect than you.
Smiling sadly, you hurry to grab your phone and wallet before heading out of your dorm, greeting your classmates as they smiled and waved at you.
Stepping outside, you hurry to the park, wanting to get there before Shinso does. Humming, you smiled at your favorite play list you were listening to, deciding that some of your favorite music would help calm your nerves and help you think clearer.
A few minutes later you arrived at the park, smirking as you realized Shinso wasn't there yet.
Ever since you discovered the park in the beginning of your highschool year the two of you started a tradition, if you could call it that. You never discussed it, but you had always rushed to see who could get to the park first, and Shinso usually won. He hardly cared about how he looked and didn't mind losing out on sleep to see you pout so cutely.
It was actually quite endearing, though you would never admit it out loud.
Sitting on your favorite bench under a large Oak tree, you pull out your phone to text Shinso, gently teasing him for being second this time. As you were about to hit send, you jumped as you felt a cold hand embrace your cheek. Looking at the hand, you scoffed as you saw Shinso holding your cheek gently, smiling teasingly at you.
"Got you.. again." Shinso murmured, causing you to blow a strand of hair out of your face huffingly.
"Yeah yeah, whatever." You pout, causing the boy in front of you to chuckle.
"So.. you're ready to talk?" Shinso prompted, sitting across from you, now nervous and unsure.
"Yeah... Listen Hitoshi, I know you didn't mean to, and I know that you feel really bad about it."
"I do, I really, really do."
"And I know for a fact that I am not gonna leave you for something so silly. I love you, Toshi and I want to hear the apology you've been dying to tell me and forgive you."
"Y/n, my Love, I am so, so sorry. I cannot forgive myself for losing control of my quirk like that, and I promise that I will do everything in my power to never lose control again. I also want to apologize for overlooking your feelings. In my head it was enough to ignore them, but now I realize that that was selfish and wrong, and I want to talk to you, calmly about it, and find a conclusion."
"I forgive you, Toshi. And I'm sorry too. I'd really like it if we could find some middle ground.. but first, we should get some lunch and go on a date, we've harldy seen each other in three weeks after all. Oh, and I love you I really, really do."
"And I love you so much more y/n, so much that it hurts." Shinso murmured, leaning towards you after every word, finishing it off with kissing your lips sweetly.
"I don't think that's possible." You breathe, causing Shinso to chuckle.
"Oh trust me, it is." He finished, pecking your lips once more before standing up, taking your hand to take you out on the best date possible.
Because there is nothing Shinso loved more than you, and he'd continue to prove it until the day he died.

Shinso’s Internship with the Wild, Wild Pussycats
Tumblr media
I might just write a oneshot on this just for the hell of it someday but for now have the origin of him joining their agency and how it went ✨ @kawayls I have done it, and now I want this to be canon
So Aizawa suggests to Hitoshi that he should probably be doing his internship over the summer break before second year since he needs to catch up to the rest of the hero course students.
Shinso’s like “alright who should I do it with? Am I able to do one with you”
“haha yeah hell no.”
So Hitoshi talks to “auntie” Ms Joke while she’s visiting and asks for her opinion, which she immediately suggests the WWPC and that it’ll be easy for him to do it since she’s related to one of the members
(I decided to headcanon that Ms Joke/Emi Fukukado and Ragdoll/Tomoko Shiretoko are cousins because why not they’re both precious).
Shinso’s immediately like “oh hell no” but not for reasons you may assume
Now we all know that he has a strong love for cats, this lead to him being an extremely huge fan of the Wild Wild Pussycats as a little kid (he still loves them but he’s much more lowkey about it), he even considers them his second favorite hero’s after Eraserhead of course.
He’s scared that he’ll embarrass himself in front of them or that he’ll be so nervous he wouldn’t be able to properly communicate with them.
Before he’s even able to make up an excuse for why he shouldn’t do it, Emi’s already phoning Tomoko and what’s done is done.
So once it’s the second week of summer, it’s time for him to get his internship with them over with.
Shinso is SWEATING as Aizawa and Hizashi drive him to meet the group, he’s literally close to having a panic attack in the backseat which Mic thankfully notices and calmly tells Shota to stop the car for a bit.
After calming down by doing a few breathing exercises, he embarrassingly explains why he’s so nervous.
Aizawa makes him a deal that if he still is nervous after today, they’ll let him do an internship somewhere else. He just has to try one day with them, and Shinso begrudgingly agrees to this.
Once he’s dropped off at Pussycats Agency, the WWPC are all decked out in their hero costumes outside with friendly smiles and as soon as they see Hitoshi they all strike their iconic poses.
Hitoshi is trying his absolute hardest not to start fanboying over this.
They let him inside their agency and our boy is sweating and blushing as he stammers out “s-so uhh… I-I’ve b-been a r-really… really b-big fan o-of you guys s-since I-I was little…”
This is exactly when the Wild, Wild Pussycats looked at each other and all simultaneously went “this is our son now, we must protect him”
They’re immediately trying to be as welcoming and kind as possible to him, doing their best to make him feel comfortable with them.
Once they sit him down in Ragdoll’s office (shes worked from the agency ever since her quirk was stolen but she still wears her costume for fun) they hand him a some cat-shaped cookies and coffee in a paw print mug (Emi informed them of the kid’s obsession with coffee of course) and then ask him some questions to let him open up to them.
Their first day is literally just spent hanging out in the office and getting to know Hitoshi, who eventually calms down and openly starts asking questions he’s always wanted answered and hardcore fanboying every so often.
He stays being their intern and excitedly learning from them what they do, even though he prefers being a crime-fighting/possibly underground hero he still knows that being adaptive on the field will be helpful since they’re rescue hero’s.
Over the week he bonds with each of them:
Mandalay/Shino Sosaki becomes a bit of a maternal figure to him, constantly checking in to make sure he’s feel comfortable or if he understands something they’re showing him. Shinso lowkey adores the motherly affection she shows him, patting his head and giving his shoulder a comforting squeeze every so often.
Tiger/Yawara Chatora helps him out quite a bit with his self esteem issues and self image, constantly praising him whenever he does something well (this boy can just be breathing and he gets “you’re doing amazing, Hitochan!”). Best believe Hitoshi was grinning whenever he heard these praises and even more happy when he got a pat on the back.
Pixie-Bob/Ryuko Tsuchikawa at some point overhears Hitoshi talking to Mandalay about his crushes on two of the hero course students (Monoma and Kaminari) and immediately butts into the conversation to give some dating advice. At first Shinso was extremely embarrassed by this but is pretty grateful for it in the long run.
And he becomes very attached to Ragdoll since her hyperactive personality and inability to remain still reminds him very much of Kaminari, who he feels comfortable around back at UA. She shows him how she does her job and helps her teammates even without a quirk, which he will never not find amazing.
They even help him come up with a few hero costume designs, as he needs to have one before second year started. As well as a few hero name ideas
He definitely gets inspired by their own costumes and gadgets.
They totally refer to him as “Hitochan”
SO MANY HEAD PATS
By the end of his internship, the WWPC are a little sad and disappointed that he’s already leaving but make sure to send him off with head pats and hugs that definitely made his bones crack.
He totally wasn’t tearing up as he held his gift bag that they gave to him right before he leaves.
When he gets home he opens it in his room and finds a signed framed picture of the costumed group with him, smiling in the middle of them and striking his own pose. He also finds a dark purple belt with pockets, the silver buckle being the exact same one owned by the group.
A few minutes later Eri walks in on her big brother ugly crying into his pillow, cradling the picture close to his chest.
She proceeded to walk right back out after awkwardly saying “dinners ready”.
Mic will never let him live it down after Eri told him about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also look at how cute their agency is 🥺, it’s a whole ass vibe for Shinso even if he wouldn’t admit it. I have a hero costume design for him and hopefully I can draw it out soon to post it (dw the belt will be there lmao)

What BNHA Heroes have their s/o saved as in their phone
Class 1A x Reader
+ Aizawa and Shinsou
tw// cussing, cringe smh, lots of love <3
Tumblr media
Class 1A
Yuga Aoyama
he has you saved as ‘my ✨star✨’
and honestly you love it because he calls you that in real life too
Mina Ashido
she has you saved as ‘bubs 💞💓💖💝💘💕’
the only reason there isn’t more hearts was because of the limit smh
she changes it every few weeks to a new pet name though
also she calls you that irl sometimes
Tsuyu Asui
she has you saved as ‘my flower 🌺’
honestly, the only reason she put you as that rather than your name because of your intense love for flora
every date you take Tsuyu on is always to somewhere with beautiful scenery and an abundance of flowers
Tenya Iida
he has you saved as ‘beef stew’
he originally had you saved as ‘(Y/N) (L/N)’
but you showed him that you had him saved as ‘Honey’ so he wanted to save you under a pet name too
however, he couldn’t really think of one so he asked for you assistance and you told him that most cute pet names come from food
“So, what food do I remind you of, Iida?”
“Beef stew.”
Needless to say you both were laughing your asses off for a while after that
but it’s still cute because beef stew is his favourite food just like you are his favourite person
Ochako Uraraka
she has you saved as ‘(L/N) <3 ’
she wanted to use a heart emoticon but her flip-phone doesn’t let her smh
Also she doesn’t have a pet name for you yet but she is working on it
like she tried calling you ‘baby girl’ but then you explained to her the sexual undertones to that name so she stopped and she’s been too embarrassed since then to try again
Mashirao Ojiro
he has you saved as ‘tail boy’s s/o 🤪’
y’all had a whole-ass discussion about this one time lmao
y’all were brainstorming ideas for what you should save each other as in your phones
you didn’t want to have something basic like ‘babe’ or ‘my heart🥰’ but rather something funny and you suggested (jokingly) to save his contact as ‘tail boy’
and rather than being offended like you thought he’d be, you both ended up laughing your asses of together for a solid 5 minutes (at least)
so you saved his contact as that and since he couldn’t come up with a funny nickname in relation to your quirk, he just saved you as ‘tail boy’s s/o🤪’
 Denki Kaminari
he has you saved as ‘ASH CECHUM 😩😳💦🌚💓🧀'
plz don’t ask about the emojis idek
anyway, he saw that you saved him as ‘Pikachu <3′ which makes sense considering his quirk..
so he took it upon himself to save your contact as - in his own words - “That guy who owns the Pikachu from Pokémon’
however, despite the fact he has watched Pokémon before, he had no idea how to spell Ash’s second name and apparently the thought never came him that; ‘hey, maybe I should google it.’
so he just sounded it out
as for the all caps, contrary to popular belief , he does know how to turn it off
he just chooses not to for the aesthetic and also it takes a lot of effort
that is why he doesn’t use proper punctuation either
Eijiro Kirishima
he has you saved as ‘love bug’
honestly, you’re not too sure of when or why he changed your contact name after y’all started dating but..
you thought it was cute but..a bit cringe
obviously you didn’t say anything about it though, you weren’t trying to be mean to your boyfriend for no reason
it’s not like he called you that irl
however, he’d be out of his mind if he thought you were gonna save him as something like that
the best he’ll get from you is ‘Kiri babe 🤘' (get it? bc...rock!)
Kouji Koda
he has you saved as ‘love bug’
ASKJFCWB YOU THINK IT IS OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD ADORABLE OML
like it makes sense because he like talks to insects and stuff and you’re his lil love bug cause you are his lover and stuff hhhhh
also because of the size difference between you and him, i mean, you are basically the size of an insect compared to him
in short, Koda supremacy  🙇‍♀️🙇‍♂️
Rikidou Satou
he has you saved as ‘sugar pie’
honestly, poor man
he was completely clueless when you asked him to save you as something cute
like, he know what you meant...but he had no idea what to go for
so you chose for him 👍
and you made a pretty good decision tbh I mean, it’s cute! it relates to his quirk and all
and he has started to call you that irl sometimes and it always makes your heart go brrrrrrr
Mezou Shouji
he has you saved as ‘hunk’
ok, i know i said Satou was a poor man but let me just say
THIS POOR MAN
you told him it’d be cute if you both saved each other as cute pet names in your phones and dead ass him response ‘you’re not my pet though..’
AAAAAAAAAAA
so after a lot of explaining, as an example you whipped out your own phone and showed him how you had saved him as ‘hunk’
...he really went and just copied you
you thought that was so funny and precious though so you didn’t ask him to change it
Kyouka Jirou
she has you saved as ‘my melody 🎶’
ok, so it started when she noticed that you use the same pen everyday - a My Melody one
she thought that was so fucking adorable and she kinda started teasing you for it; not that you minded though
she also thought it was so cute when you’d get all flustered
so one day she just decided to change your contact name to that
it also kinda tied in with her love for music (but mostly her love for you uwu)
Hanta Sero
he has you saved as ‘my honey nutter butter biscuit’
after Kirishima called his s/o ‘love bug’ infront of y’all that one time, you both spent the next hour taking the piss and laughing at how over-the-top couple nicknames are sometimes
so just #for the meme he saved your contact as a hyperbole of what those cringe couple pet names are like
oh and you have him saved as ‘My beloved sweet peach taco’
Fumikage Tokoyami
he has you saved as ‘Helena’
yeah, he wanted to be edgy and save your contact after a MCR song
(no, he does not know that Helena is about Gerard’s grandmother but don’t you dare tell him)
Shoto Todoroki
he has you saved as ‘(Y/N) (L/N) 💖’
you texted him something during lunch one time to see his reaction while you were sitting next to him but then you noticed that your name in his phone was simply ‘(Y/N) (L/N)’
you mentioned it briefly but you didn’t make a fuss out of it because it really wasn’t a big deal
however, he asked to see what his name in your phone was and you showed him
you had saved him as ‘Babey ( •̀ ω •́ )✧’
he went home and did some research on some good pet names to save you as in his phone
after that, his search history kinda looked like;
‘pet names’
‘pet names for humans’
‘pet names for lovers’
‘cute nicknames for my girlfriend’
‘cute emoticons’
he deadass came in the next day and the first thing he did was pull out his phone and show you the emoji he put next to your name
“Look, (L/N). I found this emoticon and put it next to your contact name in my phone.”
yes, he sound like boomer..obvs
he spends 90% of his free time training rather than on his phone
and the time that he is on his phone, he isn’t using emojis, he is searching shit like
‘how to hack into a credit card without the PIN’
Tooru Hagakure
she saves you as ‘❤😘’
no, she doesn’t need to save you as your name to remember who you are
she’s not a peasant
Katsuki Bakugo
he has you saved as ‘pretty stupid face’
originally it was just ‘stupid face’
but you noticed it and just dropped a subtle comment like “hey, that’s mean.”
so he came in the next day with ‘pretty’ added to the start
“i am genuinely too nice to you sometimes.” he’d say
“THE STUPID FACE PART IS STILL THERE”
“I KNOW BUT I ADDED PRETTY TO THE START!!”
“Wow, tch, such I gentleman-”
“I know-HEY WAIT WAS THAT SARCASM?!”
Izuku Midoriya
he has you saved as ‘sweetest love muffin’
you that one couple i mentioned in Sero’s headcanons?
yeah, that’s y’all
you are both literally that couple
“No, you hang up.”
“No, you hang up!”
“Nooo, cause I’ll miss you”
“I’ll miss you moreeee”
he literally threw a bunch of his favourite adjectives into a pet name lol
also your contact name for him is something on a similar wavelength
Minoru Mineta
I know most y’all would’ve even give him your number lol
but for those who would 🤮
he has you saved as ‘sweet cheeks’ or sumn
Momo Yaoyorozu
she has you saved as ‘My McMuffin’
HOL UP LET ME EXPLAIN
ok so she let you take her to McDonald’s cause you wanted to see her reaction since she is used to gourmet cuisine or whatever
so it was sure to be entertaining
and it was
but not in a good way
she was almost sick after she had a bite of a big mac and then she tried to wash it down with the Sprite but then she fainted for like a solid 10 seconds
once she came back, she obviously wanted to leave..so you did
A year later, y’all are in the town and both of you are starving
But Momo realised that she didn’t have her card on her or any money but that was fine because at least you had your debit card on you
You had enough money on it for a taxi back to Momos place and a McMuffin each
Obviously she didn’t want one but when you started eating in front of her, of course she wanted a taste
and so it was love at first bite
she loved it so much so of course you bought another one for her and she consumed it in a millisecond (not literally)
so now she has your contact saved as the one thing competing against you for her love - a McMuffin
Shota Aizawa
unfortunately he does not have your contact saved as ‘kitten’
instead, in his phone you are saved as ‘The One  💙’
simple, yet it effectively shows his admiration - just the way he likes it
and he only added the emoji to make your name stand out more so he could easily tell whether he was gonna ignore the following message or not
because if Mike is texting him telling his that he needs the extremely important documents that Aizawa keeps in his coded filing cabinet, Shota will be like -.-
but if you text him asking for him to pick up chocolate on his way home, he’ll be like 🏃‍♂️
Hitoshi Shinso
he has you saved as ‘big daddy’
plz don’t ask
it’s an inside joke between you and him
okay well, if you must know
y’all were trying to come up with the most absurd nicknames for each other that kinda sound legit
some other gems
‘Muscleman’
‘Big scary snookums’
‘sexy giant’

Bright as a Diamond. Shinso Hitoshi x Fem Reader: Chapter Nine
Tumblr media
Chapter Summary: Shota takes (Y/n) and Shinso to the USJ to get some specialized hostage training done. But things rarely go to plan, and (Y/n) gets to play the role of the victim to her dismay. But there is one thing she knows for sure, she’s not a tease.
Series Summary: When (Y/N)’s co-worker decided to send a picture of her making a diamond to the paper, her life was over. Gemstone based quirks weren’t all that rare, but being able to make a diamond put a target on her back. After years of hiding in the city, it’s time to hide in the countryside with her Uncle Shota Aizawa and his more than ‘roommate’ Hizashi Yamada. With the promise of training her to be self-sufficient, she’s ready to learn.
Author Note: Me updating two days in a row? Unheard of lol. Also this chapter is 5K, so enjoy the fest. I tried to make this some more wholesome, but also...I like to keep some action going.
Warning: Near drowning, avalanche, flashbacks
Last Chapter: Eight
Next Chapter:Nine
Hostage Training
It had been a few weeks since my run-in with Kira, and Hisoka's accident. Despite looking for the animal that hurt Hisoka, we found nothing. Just like the police still hadn't found Kira. It was unsettling but manageable.
I was sitting on the porch waiting for Shota to pick me and Shinso up for training. Hisoka was cuddled in my lap, lazily pawing at my exposed thighs. Per Shota's request, I was to wear my paired down training uniform and lose all the camo elements.
Still, I wasn't a big fan of showing off my body. Lately, I hadn't been so hard on myself about it, after nearly being kidnapped, I was thankful that my body was still my own. Grateful that Hisoka enjoyed my soft thighs and stomach. Thankful that I was able to even move and fight.
Mom would be happy that I wasn't skipping meals or hiding in my room all day. I should really try calling her, I just don't know what I'd begin to tell her. Maybe about Shinso?
"Why so contemplative Kitten? Trying to remember how to tie your shoes?" Shinso kneeled and did up my laces, double knotting the bow.
"No," I puffed my cheeks and pouted when Hisoka ran off to the koi pond. "I was just thinking about my mom is all."
"What about her?" Shinso sat beside me, leaning back on his forearms.
"She moved to a care facility around the same time I moved here. Her quirk lets her make burning coals, and for some reason, it's started activating inside her without warning. She lost one of her lungs not too long ago because of it. So she's partaking in a special quirk related illness program." I stopped myself. "That was maybe too personal. Sorry, I just need to call her at some point, that's what I was thinking about."
"Your mom is the Ash hero?" Shinso raised his brow.
"Um, yea. She was the ash hero, but she doesn't really like to bear the title anymore." I twiddled my thumbs, kicking my legs out to distract myself.
"She was pretty big in the underground. She rescued the same civilian twenty-seven times. It's a record."
"That was my dad." I laughed. "Mom said she married him just so she could find the spare time to breathe. They ran into each other so often, they just couldn't help but fall in love."
"I didn't know that. Your quirk makes sense, though, the coal mixed with the ability to make gemstones." Shinso hummed, sitting up to match my pose.
"Yea. I managed to hide my gem quirk till I was a teen, then- then things happened." I pushed my hair in front of my face.
Shoved in the back of a van. Gunshots. Taking a curve so fast, I bust my head open against the trunk.
I gripped the back of my head, a small bump remained. "You spaced out again."
"Hmm," I glanced at Hitoshi, his gaze focused on my hand.
"I said you spaced out again. You do that during training a lot. I don't want to push it, but you want to tell me why?" He slid his fingers over my scalp, tracing the outline of the bump.
My fingernails became the most exciting thing in my world. The way they were chewed to the quick, the cracked polish and rough cuticles poking through. "I was kidnapped a couple of times, actually. It turns out that the same people who liked to take my dad thought I would have his quirk too." I forced a laugh, pushing my cuticle down. "Of course I played dumb right up till they threatened to kill my best friend. It was like tv you know, they showed her on a camera and one of their goonies walking right behind her. Needless to say, I got so stressed sapphires started to sprout from my eyes."
"I'm sorry," Hitoshi scooted closer to me, his arm resting aginst mine.
"Don't worry about it, Lint ball. That was the easy time around. Besides, my mom saved me that time, and the group was so keen on keeping me a secret they didn't tell anyone. Plus, I never made them diamonds." I sat up and popped my fingers. "Looks like Sho is here, let's go. I'm going to wipe the floor with you today."
"Thank you for telling me that." Shinso stood, and I suddenly realized how much taller than me he was. His hand rested on my shoulder with a firm squeeze.
"Yea, like I said, it's not a big deal." I held my hips and smiled the best I could. My eyes stung, but I couldn't let anyone know.
"Let's go Kitty." He nodded for me to follow him to the car, and I did without fuss. Shinso was a strange man, but he was really decent under all the dry humor and teasing. I could try playing along for now.
"This place is huge." I gawked at the many different disaster simulation zones inside the vast building. The USJ was a top-notch training facility, and Shota had pulled his strings at the school to let us practice inside today.
"Listen closely." Shota walked to the edge of the stairs, turning to face Shinso and I. "Shinso, we're going to be working on search and rescue today. (Y/n), we are going to be working on hostage behavior. Since you are still healing, we'll be focusing on finding the best places to hide and knowing when to run."
"So, I'm learning how to be a useful victim?" I cocked my head to the side and blinked a few times.
"Basically." Shota sighed, looking out at all the different zones.
"This feels kinda sexist for some reason…" I mumbled. "Why can't I rescue Shinso or you?"
"That will be for another time. Just focus on how you can survive until help arrives today." I knew what Shota wanted from me, I knew it was a good plan, and I knew it was beneficial. But did it have to be a kidnapping scenario? After I confess part of my past to Shinso, now he's just going to be looking for me to zone out. Well, I'm going to rock this challenge.
"We'll start off with the desert." Shota leads the way. We passed several other biomes and just how vast the building was amazed me. Shinso smirked, nudging me so I'd keep up. I pushed him right back and passed him to walk by Shota.
At the desert biome, I got to go out into the sandy hell first. It made sense why I was told to lose the camo part of my outfit now. Shinso needed to be able to see me to "rescue" me. Shota was right behind me as I climbed up the hill. The humid air already doing things to my hair.
"If you turn your feet when you walk, it will be easier," he instructed, quickly walking through the grit.
"I'll try," I did as told and didn't slip as much in the sand. "How do I keep the sun from burning me out?"
"You need to wrap your head in a cloth, and possibly wet it with urine." Shota didn't sound like he was joking. Pausing my climb, I wait for him to say sike still.
"Noted, don't get caught in a desert." Shrugging my shoulders, I kept walking. Once at the top, I slipped on the dune and skidded down the other side. Rolling fast, hot sand filled my shorts, lighting my skin on fire. I stopped myself at the bottom and spat up the grains in my mouths. Ugh. Jumping to my feet, I bounced around till my shorts were empty.
"What would you do if that happened with a real villain?" Shota asked me, gliding down the slope. Not once jerking to regain balance.
"Run for my life?" I offered, sitting up and dusting myself down. Licking my lips, I laid back on the ground, resting my eyes in his shadow.
"That would be wise." Shota nodded, an underlining message with his words.
"You want me to run? But you're teaching me stuff?" I cocked my head but got to my feet once I saw him frown.
"At some point, I want you to run and hide. Give Shinso a real challenge in search and rescue. I can't tell you much about our current case, but if you can really give him a hard time, that would be for the best." He paused to give it some thought. "Really think about how a hostage would act in each scenario. How the elements affect what you're willing to do."
"Is this how you prompt him?" I asked, going deeper into the desert. While I lost my chance to bolt, I wanted to keep talking. This was not my biome to start getting active.
"Yes," Shota took my hand and pulled me up the incline. He grinned, tapping my forehead before shoving me down another hill. "Just have fun with it."
"Wha-"I squealed rolling like a soup can, but with more momentum. Sand-filled my shorts again, but it got past my undies too. After I stopped and got my bearings, I looked at the hilltop, Shota had a captured weapon around his hand. So Shinso had caught us super-fast.
Trekking back up the slope to help, I resisted the urge to sneak to the exit. I knew I was supposed to give Shinso a hard time, but this wasn't the biome that I wanted to use all my energy in. It was hot and draining; if I was a hostage, I'd be sticking it out with the villain.
"Oh, Mr. Hero, save me!" I put on my best American accent and waved at Shinso. Having fun, pretending to have been poisoned by the sun. Which wasn't hard to imagine at that point.
"Hold on-"Shinso tried to offer a comforting phrase, but was distracted long enough to let his guard down. Their fight went on for a while until finally Shinso got Shota down and tied in his scarf.
"My hero, you are so brave." I pretended to stumble into his arms and whack his chest. "I've been in the sun for three days. I can't remember my own name, surely you can help me find it."
"How will you handle this, Shinso?" Shota asked, not fighting against his ties. "What should you do with a delirious victim?"
"Delirium, that's my favorite drink. We should get drinks at some point." I don't know what it was about the accent that made me a flirt, but I was clinging all over Shinso, gripping his arms and making him blush. "Such a strong young man. Oh, how much do you train?"
"Don't worry, ma' ma, I'm going to get you some help." Shinso grabbed his scarf and my hand, dragging Shota and me behind him.
I looked at Shota with an evil grin and asked permission to make it even harder. Shota nodded no, and I held back my scheme of accidentally letting him loose. I could try again in the next biome.
It was the blizzard zone, and of course, I didn't have a jacket with me. Shota offered the bullshit answer that I needed to figure something out if this was real. I knew what he was inferring, but I didn't like it.
Goosebumps broke out over my arms as we took the ski lift to the top of the mountain. I held myself and followed behind him, using my coal quirk to heat myself. Shota turned and deactivated my power.
"As my captive, I'm not going to let you waste your energy on coals when I want diamonds." He reminded. "What is your best move?"
"Follow instructions till I see an opening." My teeth chattered, the snow wetting my socks as I trudged through. "Why did we go from a dessert to a blizzard. We're all going to get sick." I slid down a small section of the hill and grabbed a pine for support. Now I noticed the snow that had piled on top of the branch.
"I can't move," I pretended to tug on my foot, gritting my teeth.
"Come on, don't slow me down," Sho was onto my rouse, but I knew I could convince him.
"Then leave me to die and let my power go to waste asshole." I spat, making small grunts while pulling the large branch down further.
"Fine, come here, brat." He smirked, once in range, I let the limb go and sprinted down the hill. "Wait, get back here!" Sho yelled, covered in snow.
Saving my breath, I activated my quirk to create coals. The only place I could make coals was my hands, but that was more than enough heat to keep me warm if I was smart.
I spotted a small cave and did a few laps around it to cover my tracks. Jumping into the small hole, I slide on the icy bottom finally out of the wind. Wasting no time, I made a pile of coals and started to heat the cavern. This time I was doing really good; maybe I could even save myself in this scenario.
To be fair, I wasn't in the snow very long, but my socks were soaking wet. Now I was heating up, all the snow was melting and putting me at risk for hypothermia. Sighing, I took my shoes off and lowered the intensity of the coals. Shinso would hopefully capture Sho and be here to 'rescue' me soon.
How could I make it harder for Lint ball? Hiding was already a challenge, but what else… Maybe fake a broke arm or ankle. Well, I wouldn't want him to carry my big ass off a mountain, that wouldn't be fair. The snow crunched outside. I held my breath and waited.
"There you are." Purple hair and a faint smirk greeted me, his head poking in the hole.
"Who are you?" I scooted away from Shinso, picking up coal to 'toss at him.'
"I'm a hero. You need to come with me." He fumbled for his next words. "It's going to be okay."
"That's what the last guy said….how do I know you're a hero. You're not on tv." I reasoned, making another coal, and getting in a defensive position.
"Here's my hero id." He pretended to pull out a badge, and I exclaimed it. "We need to hurry before the villain wakes up."
"Hey, don't rush me, I've just had the worst day of my life." I reminded him. "Besides I can't go, my shoes are wet and I-"
"Come on," Shinso grabbed my hand and pulled me out, putting my shoes on. "It's a small hike to the bottom of the mountain. I can carry you, but we need to hurry."
"I can walk just fine-"I puffed, turning my back to him. His coat was draped around my shoulder, and he tied the sleeves around my neck. "Hitoshi-"
"We need to move." He used my confusion to his advantage and had me on my feet. He crouched and wedged his hips between mine, quickly catching me off guard.
Latching my arms around his neck, he adjusted me once and started running. It was dumb to go sprinting downhill with a victim on your back, but I trusted his reasoning.
"Why do we have to hurry?" I asked, wondering how cold he must be getting.
"There's a chance there might be an avalanche." He was panting, the strain of my blubbery body, and the cold stressing his lungs. The fast pace and quick moments made my head spin. My every muscle was stressed, trying to help him keep a good grip.
A scarf wrapped around my upper body, jerking me into the powdery snow. Shota held the other end and reeled me towards him. Kicking with all my power, I tried to get free. Shinso nose dived but was getting his baring again. "Hero, you forgot to make sure I was bond down." Shota grinned, tugging me back up the mountain. Changing my tactic, I dug my heels into the earth.
"Don't worry (Y/n), I'll save you." Shinso charged up the hill, ready to take on Sho. Only the mountain top rumbled. In the middle of the two men, I was about to be fucked up alone. I prepared to be at the mercy of the tumbling snow, praying that I didn't crush Sho or Shinso.
"You failed to keep her safe once, are you going to fail again, hero?" Shota was around four meters from me at this point. The snow working in my sandy shorts. The mountain still rumbling with a panicked fury.
"Run." I yipped, the snow moving like a wave overhead. Shota seemed startled, as well. Shinso ran up the hill at full speed. The wave already got Sho, but Shinso grabbed me just in time. He undid the binds, cradling me as the snow hit us.
I didn't know what came over me, but I created a swirling ruby, wrapping it around our bodies like a cage. The snow was able to get through the large cracks, but it kept us from hitting any trees. My stomach did flips, as my world was put through the rinse cycle.
Shinso had my head pressed in his chest, so I couldn't see if my ruby was breaking or not. All I could do was feel my essence in the gem, and keep pouring energy into fixing any impurities. Waiting for the avalanche to stop, I prayed. This was a simulation, but I knew it was not a joke.
Shinso squeezed tighter, snow impacting us from all sides. It would be hard to know which way was up or down. Still, we finally slowed down then stopped, the snow kept settling and getting heavier around us. "You okay, Hitoshi?" I mumbled, spitting out the ice. My legs were so numb from my shorts, I had to reach down to make sure I wasn't bleeding; it was so cold.
"Are you hurt anywhere?" he ignored my question, using one hand to dig up some headspace. I expanded the ruby, a headache coming on from the large gemstone.
"Peachy, now which way is up?" I rested my chin on his collar, taking shallow breaths. While training was making me stronger, I didn't have a lot of stamina built up. Even if I wasn't hurt, my body was stressed.
"This way, I think." He held up a twig and dropped it to test the gravity. With each breath, I brought my life into my palms. With two large coals, I turned up the heat, melting a path. Unfortunately, I had to straddle Shinso, but he was being a good hero and not teasing me.
I wavered for a moment and crashed back into our little cave. There was plenty of space, but the bottom was still tight. Shinso propped me up and pressed his hand to my forehead. "I'm fine, just worn out…here. Can you dig for a minute."
"Yea, I got it." He took the coals and used his scarf to wrap his hands before working on the exit.
With the cold air swirling in my lungs, I took deep breaths. Lifting my palms together, I pushed out even more coals. With the fresh supply, Shinso was able to break out faster. Without his coat, I could admire his toned arms digging through the packed snow.
Tugging me out of the hole, Shinso adjusted his jacket around my shoulders. "We need to find Mr. Aizawa." He pushed my hair back. "Just stay here, and look for signs of movement." he started looking around where we landed, and a hand popped up in the distance. "Mr. Aizawa." Shinso jogged to his mentor. Finding it in myself, I hobbled over. "You okay?" Shinso asked Sho, checking him over.
"Yea, I see you two made it out. That's some good work." Shota dusted the snow out of his hair. "Let's get ready for the next one."
"Wait I'm killed, can't we take a break?" I asked, seeing the exit was just a short walk away.
"We will, after this next one." Shota opened the door, and we both filed out.
I shrugged off Shinso's jacket and handed it to him. "You did a fairly good job at keeping the hostage calm this time. Though maybe lie about the avalanche in real life."
"Noted." He nodded, and when I followed after Shota, I swore his eyes scanned me up and down. I told him I was okay.
Still, Shota did let us use the body regulator before hopping into our next scenario. UA was really a top-notch school, I couldn't imagine how much money they floating around to pay for such high tech items.
"This time, we'll do the shipwreck situation. Shinso, give us three minutes and then come in; however, you see fit." Shota used a small boat to take us to the bigger one in the center of the pool. All I had to do was watch him row, and be a good hostage. It was honestly surprising that none of the training had triggered me yet. Shota was right, I was having fun with it…like I was above the reality.
Once on top of the deck, he tied me with his scarf till I couldn't move my upper body. "How did I do, Sho?"
"That's what I want from you. Make it different each time, give him a real challenge. But remember to save energy for the next." Shota looked over the side of the boat. "I enjoyed your little ditzy act."
"Thanks, I don't know why that accent made me take on a campy flirty character, but it was kind of fun."
"Here, he comes." Shota got into position and watched as Shinso decided to go headfirst into the fight.
When he got on deck, he was soaking wet, his hair still fighting off gravity. "Help help help, he's got a bomb on the ship!" I yelped like a child, wriggling against my ropes. "Mister, do something."
"I got this, don't worry," Shinso was in hand to hand combat with Shota. I noticed he was trying to get him to speak, but Shota wasn't going to fall for his quirk.
"Watch out!" I screamed, seeing that Shinso was dangerously close to the edge. Of course, he knew what he was doing, but I was challenging a scared kid.
What would a kid do if they thought a hero needed help? I stood up and ran full force to try to knock over Shota.
"Stay back-"Shinso warned, but I kept going, surprising even Shota. Still, Shota dodged and caught me before I could fall from the edge. He tossed me back the way I had come, but instead, I tumbled backward on my feet.
My ass hit the lip of the guard rail, and I dropped back. Headfirst, I crashed into the water below. Sucked down by my own weight,I kicked till my legs were underneath me. I was twelve feet deep at a guess. At least I had a good breath before going under, but I didn't know how long I'd have to wait. Well, a kid would try to swim up top, but my kicking isn't getting me anywhere.
Shota would see this as a great training experience. I hoped he knew I was moving at a turtles pace. Changing my tactics, I wiggled like a mermaid with more success, but it wasn't enough. Maybe I was deeper than twelve feet. Why didn't they look over the side, this is just a training. The tension in my throat was building … I wasn't drowning. There was no way that I was drowning. I stayed calm and kicked again to no avail. Seconds ticked by, then a full minute.
Desperately willing my body to the surface, I gasped, the air in my mouth floating above me. Did they not remember I was tied up still? Shit. They are going to wait for the last minute on this, or they just think I can float. Another bubble escaped last my lips. The burning spread down my throat and to my legs. I kicked slower but with broader motions, closer to the top but still too far. Then I put my legs together and did another mermaid kick.
Nothing. It wasn't working fast enough. Another bubble left my lips, and I took water in. The next gulp was deeper. The burning urge to cough and breath. I swam harder, trying to make the distance—finally, a splash.
Hitoshi's body was several meters from mine, but we locked eyes quickly. He made frantic motions and grasped my binding once it was in reach. I coughed, taking in yet another mouth full of water, and then another and another till my lungs were almost nothing but water. He clamped his hand over my mouth, swimming up.
Another gulp in, my vision was blurring, my muscles felt like they were ripping. Hitoshi pushed me up with all his might, and I broke the surface. A nasty gasping, retching, gurgle left me. I needed to retch, breath, and cough all at once. I bobbed under again, but Hitoshi got me in his arms, floating on his chest. He undid the scarf and started to paddle to a piece of the wreckage.
Hacking, spitting, and crying wasn't a good look on me, but I was finally calming down once we reached the floating mass. My arm held firmly on his neck.
"I'm sorry that it took too long." He rubbed circles on my back, turning me on my side so I could expel the water. "I finally got him to answer me, though. Then I lost sight of where you landed, and I figured you could swim."
I grappled with pulling myself up, then rinsed off my face. Still trying to catch my breath. "Thank you- for saving me. For the record, I can swim, but not like that. I knew you would help me, I just couldn't hold my breath any longer. I stayed calm, but a stranger would probably have flipped out." I flopped back against the wood and coughed up a little more water. "Well, I'm safe now. You should go make sure the villain is tied up."
"He's preoccupied at the moment." Shinso glanced up and then back at me. "Where are you hurting?"
"Well, my body slammed the water, so everything tingles. The good thing is the captured weapon must have reinforced my chest. So no broken ribs that I can feel. Though, I don't think I'll be able to donate mom a lung anytime soon. Not that we're the same blood type, but you get my point." I wheezed, rolling over onto my side, and taking a look at my torso… my bra was very obviously visible under my shirt. Covering my chest, I turned.
"I'm not looking." Shinso countered, treading the water.
"Then why do you know what I'm concerned about, hmm?" Glaring back at him, I pursed my lips.
"I didn't think you'd be a pink person." His face went red, he head hanging low.
"Then it's too late. Damn it." I shivered, a cold breeze from the blizzard biome drifting by. "Come on, hero, I wanna go home." I slid into the water, still holding to the wreckage. "Lead the way."
"Hold onto my back." He twirled, patting his shoulder.
"I can swim still." I raised my brow, still covering my chest. Of course, this was all just a drill, but I didn't like touching him so much.
"I need the practice; come on, Kitten." When he didn't move, I rested one hand on his back and took a deep breath. I assumed he'd bob under or realize that I was too heavy and awkward to swim with like that. But I was able to effortlessly hoover over his back. He used my floatation to our advantage and took long strokes towards the pool's edge. Of course, he was good at everything, that's how he got so smug. Working smarter and not harder, I couldn't blame him.
"You really are stronger then you look," I complimented, resting my head on his back. "Don't let it get to your head."
"Is that because you cooped a feel earlier?" He glanced back at me with a smirk.
"No, that wasn't me. That was an American socialite that had been kidnapped. Besides, I realized you were strong long before then. I just thought I'd remind you of how weak you look versus how strong you really are."
"So a backhanded compliment." He slowed his pace.
"Of course," I answered, biting my lower lip. "It wouldn't have to be so backhanded if you weren't such a tease."
"I'm the tease?" He reached the edge of the ship and twirled so we were facing each other. He pulled me flush against his chest. "Since when do I tease you?"
"Nearly every second we're together." I sulked, looking at the ship in the distance. "Like right now."
"Besides now, when have I been a tease?" His breath tickled my throat, his hair blocking my line of sight.
"Like when you make fun of me for going red. Or when I ran into a spider. How about when I forgot to turn the rice cooker on." I listed a few, feeling the heat work up my neck…no I wasn't going to turn red now.
"Don't I kill the spiders? Turn on the rice cooker. And make sure you're not getting sick?" His lips were inches from mine, the heat radiating. Water dripping from his hair onto my forehead.
"You do," I admitted. "But-" He bit lip his bottom lip.
"Do you want me to stop?" There were only millimeters between us. The thumping inside my ears clouded out my panting. Sweat pooled down the side of my chin. Fuck. I needed to focus on anything but his lips.
"No-." His hands gripping on either side of my waist. The smirk he always wore softening to a tender smile.
"We're going to the swell zone next!" We broke apart as Shota yelled from the top of the boat, dropping a rope between us.
"Shota, I need a rest," I hollered back, my entire body equivalent to jell-o. Treading water on my own, making it more apparent.
"One more." Shota climbed down the side of the ship and back into the little boat.
"I'll make it fast this time. How about that?" Shinso winked, offering me his hand, and I splashed him.
"Yea, I'd like to see you find me in under two minutes." I got out of the water and offered him my hand instead, which he took without hesitation.
"You got a deal," he shook my hand and caught a towel that Shota tossed his way. I grabbed my own towel and cocooned inside it. Shinso had entered my personal space; he made my heart race and got inside my head…He really was such a tease.
The rest of the training had been to plan. I no longer played the reckless child, and instead settled for a tired businesswoman. True to his word, Shinso found us in under two minutes, but he struggled to use his capture weapon in the windy zone.
Once that was done, we hit the showers at the gym, then loaded the car and headed home. Shota went over our strengths and weakness and made a remark that I should be paid to be a crisis actor. It wasn't a bad idea, the preliminary hero license was coming up, and I could use the cash since my jewelry gig was up.
"I could look into it," I mused, kicking my legs out in the back seat. Thankfully there had been a few old sets of school uniforms in the gym, so I was wearing a comfy jumpsuit home. "I gotta keep my payments up for school, and after the whole fake jewelry shop incident, I don't think I'm ready to face that industry for a while." I twirled the gem around my throat and chewed my lip.
"We should look into less dangerous lines of work first," Shota nodded, "it would be best for you to lay low till Kira is caught, but if you want to rush things, we can ask the school."
"I think I will start applying around, what the worst that can happen?" My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I saw a message from an unknown number. It never failed; every day at three, I'd get a cryptic message with a blurry picture.
I knew there was nothing I could do to prove it was or wasn't Kira to the police, but it was unsettling.
Shinso was watching me in the rearview mirror. As soon as we locked eyes, I turned my phone off and closed my eyes. Today it was a picture of a pomegranate and the letter C. There was no way I was going to change my number again over this. It would be the third time in three months, and that just makes life that much harder.

My Hero OC Stories: Chapter 4: Chance Encounters
After class, Misaki went to the teacher's office and was met with the sight of a lanky-looking blond man. She was confused to see him there but shrugged it off, inviting herself in:
"I know you might just be a visitor or something, but I was wondering if you've seen Mr. Shota Aizawa. I have some questions for him."
"H-he went to grab something, but I'm sure he'll be back soon."
"Cool, I'll just wait here, then. I don't have anywhere to be, so I hope you don't mind if I hang out until he gets back."
"I don't see why not. Have a seat," the blonde said, pulling out a chair for her.
"Thanks," she said sitting with her bag to her side. "All Might making you do his work for him?" she chuckled. "It's just that you looked like you were working on stuff and you are sitting at his desk," she explained, pointing to the nameplate.
"Not exactly. He just told me to look over his work to make sure he did it right."
"Oh, so you're like an assistant or his tech support, then? Interesting… Ooh, how many keyboards has All Might broken? I know he can handle his strength, but I feel like he'd break at least one by accident."
"All Might hasn't broken anything to my knowledge."
"Oh, good to know. Now he just has to work on his teaching. I know he's new but… Come. On. I doubt I could handle any more of his overcompensating energy," she clarified. "I know he likes to ham it up for people… I just wish he'd be more casual… He doesn't have to be a huge personality that he is all time. I like it when he's more calm and dorky, it's who he truly is… Maybe I should tell him if he gets nervous, he can always give me a look for help… Oh, I realized I'm telling this to a complete stranger. You just seem so familiar… Are you two related somehow?"
"What?!" the skinny blonde cleared his throat, "I mean, what makes you say that?"
"I don't know. Maybe it’s the blonde hair, blue eyes, skin tone, and similar voice… now that I think about it, if you styled those front pieces of your hair-" Misaki squinted as she walked closer but was interrupted by a familiar voice.
"Misaki, what are you doing here? Go home, school's over…" Aizawa grumbled, walking to his desk.
"Oh, hi, Mr. Aizawa, I was here to see you, actually…" Misaki said softly, walking over to him. "It shouldn't take too long either," she assured, standing with nervous body language.
"Go on, I have paperwork I need to finish," Aizawa directed.
"I just have one question…" Misaki assured with a timid voice. She cleared her throat after Aizawa ushered her to continue. "I'm aware you have chronic dry eyes from your quirk… So, I was wondering if it comes from the prolonged use or is it just a side effect from using your quirk?" she asked subtly swaying.
"My dry eye is from using my quirk for long periods of time. I would recommend you use it sparingly, if possible. I don't want you getting this condition if you can help it," he explained. "If that was your only question, as you said, leave."
"Yes, of course. Thank you for the information and concern, Mr. Aizawa," she said bowing deeply.
"Don't thank me, just make sure you use the quirk with proper strategy."
"I wouldn't dream of using it any other way… I look forward to our next class," she said turning after raising herself. "Oh, and maybe I'll see you around, Mister…"
"Oh, you don’t need to know my name. Have a nice day, though," the mysterious blonde said with an awkward smile as he waved from his desk.
"If you say so," Misaki shrugged. "You have a nice day too," she well-wished with a shrug before leaving the teacher's offices.
"Thanks for the save, Aizawa…" All Might sighed. "She's a perceptive girl and if you hadn't stopped her-"
"You could always tell her. Mic says she's good at keeping secrets," Aizawa asked.
"She already worries about me even without knowing about this frail form. I can't imagine what she'd do if she found out I looked like this on a regular basis. Much less how much she'd chew me out for keeping it from her for five years…"
"You two seem close…"
"I hope so… Her dad and I met during college and we've remained close to this day. I was one of the first ones to meet her as a kid and she calls me uncle from time to time," All Might chuckled.
"Then hope she doesn't find out," Aizawa sighed.
Walking out of the teacher's office, she blushed remember the concern Aizawa had nonchalantly shown. Misaki continued down the hall lost in thought:
'He's still as kind as he was that night… He's much rougher with his tone, but the intent behind his words is just as kind… I'm a little upset he still doesn't seem to remember me, but I shouldn't be surprised… it has been a few years since met…"
Paying no mind to her surroundings, she carelessly rounded the corner. Misaki was shaken out of her thoughts, surprised to see a purple-haired boy covered in workbooks. She quickly knelt down to check on him:
"Hey, are you okay? Sorry for running into you… I guess I got lost in my own head."
"It's fine. The books hurt a bit, but they're softcover," the boy assured.
"If you're sure…" Misaki ponded. "Well, I'll, uh, help you pick these up. It's the least I can do," she chuckled awkwardly, starting to stack the books. "Luckily they seem to be as unharmed as you…"
"Yeah," the boy curtly responded.
Misaki felt an unease in his curt response, quickly deciding to continue the conversation. "So… I haven't seen you around… I'm Misaki Sato… but you can call me Misaki. I'm not a fan of my family name…" The boy continued to pick up the books without a response. "Uh, did I do something to offend you? I'll make it up to you if I did…"
"No, you're fine," the purple-haired boy assured.
"Just not a talker, huh..? That's fine…" Misaki sighed as they finished collecting everything. "Hey, why don't I help you carry a few? It looks like all of these would obstruct your vision."
"Yeah, the guy helping me said he had something to do and ran off before I could say anything…"
"That's awful. Well, I'm not going anywhere, so lead the way," she smiled, taking the taller stack of books.
"Are you sure you can handle all that?"
"Oh, yeah. I can carry an injured man while dodging a Villain's attacks, without breaking a sweat. A stack of workbooks is nothing." She was surprised by the stun in his eyes. "So, anyway…" Misaki laughed it off, "after you…"
The two walked in silence until the boy spoke up:
"…It's Shinso…"
"Huh?" Misaki perked her ears.
"The name's Hitoshi Shinso… You asked before, so I thought I'd answer you…" he elaborated as they reached Class 1-C.
"Oh, nice to meet you, Shinso," Misaki smiled, walking through the door Shinso opened for her.
"You mentioned you haven't seen me around. Well, it the same for me… So. what class are you in?" He asked, leading her to stack the workbooks on the shelves.
"Oh, I'm in the Hero Course, Class 1-A to be specific. I'd ask you, but I assume we're in your class," she said, floating to better reach the higher shelves.
"That's a cool quirk…" he awed softly, noticing her in the air.
"Oh, it's nothing really, but thank you…" she trailed off, landing softly on the ground. "Want some help with your stack, I'm done here."
"Aren't you going to ask me what my quirk is?"
"I don't usually go straight to quirk talk with someone, but sure, what's your quirk?"
"Brainwashing…"
"Oh, cool. Though if I were to guess it doesn't work on machines, does it?" Hitoshi shook his head. "So, that's why someone with such a useful sounding quirk is in General Studies…"
"You don't want to know how it works?"
"I'm curious but you don't look like you want to tell me. I can see it in your eyes… you're afraid of how I'll react to it, aren't you?"
"Preceptive…"
"You think so too..? Anyway.. you don't have to tell me, I didn't even tell you my quirk. So it's not like you owe me an explanation," Misaki assured with a smile. "Oh," she jumped feeling her phone buzz. "I should get going. My friend wants me to get back to the classroom. It was nice meeting you though… Hitoshi was it?"
"Yeah, sure. Uh, maybe I'll see you around?" Hitoshi fumbled as she began to walk out.
"We do go to the same school, so the odds are that much greater. I'll look forward to it," Misaki waved before making her way to class.

My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 3 Review: Clash! Class A vs. Class B!
https://ift.tt/3aAfe9n
This My Hero Academia review contains spoilers.
My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 3
“You’re not alone.”
Each season of My Hero Academia is structured around a major story arc that ideally brings Izuku Midoriya and company closer to their goal of becoming professional heroes. The anime has a tendency to rotate between arcs that involve rampaging villains or the continued training and competitions between U.A. High’s heroes. “Clash! Class A vs. Class B!” officially kicks off My Hero Academia’s Joint Training Arc, which allows Midoriya and the rest of Class 1-A to intermingle with Class 1-B’s students.
Class 1-B has lurked in the background throughout the anime’s first four seasons and a select few characters like Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu and Itsuka Kendo have already made an impression. A major perk to these episodes is that it’s genuinely exciting to see these familiar faces return. There are so many characters in this anime and it’s not uncommon for someone to vanish and never be seen again or simply get forgotten. It’s reinvigorating for these seemingly abandoned characters to now play major roles and it retroactively makes My Hero Academia’s narrative seem that much bigger since this reunion has been teased since season two.
It’s a big shift to suddenly have the series manage an additional two-dozen characters, but it gives My Hero Academia a restorative burst of energy that helps make this U.A. High material feel more exciting than tedious. This extension to My Hero Academia’s roster does succumb to some exposition that surrounds these characters, but it’s implemented naturally and doesn’t drag “Class A vs. Class B!” to a halt.
Part of the fun with these new characters is that there are definitely Class 1-B students that feel like bizarro versions of some of Class 1-A, but they’re not just a direct reflection of the heroes that we’ve grown to love. These similarities are meant to create tension or camaraderie between the two groups of heroes and there are also individuals like Manga Fukidashi and Kojiro Bondo that feel wholly distinct from anyone out of Class 1-A.
Another compelling wrinkle to all of this is that the focus on Class 1-B is meant to highlight a new group of allies, but the real standout in “Clash! Class A vs. Class B!” is Hitoshi Shinso, from Class 1-C. Hitoshi Shinso first appeared during the height of the Sports Festival when he faced off against Midoriya and it seems that he’s more determined than ever to break through the ranks of Classes 1-A and 1-B. Midoriya can’t wait to see how much Shinso’s powers have improved and this season is already positioning him to play a major role in what’s to come.
“You are not alone,” is a message that’s conveyed to Midoriya in relation to his One For All Quirk, but the sentiment is arguably even more applicable to Hitsho Shinso. He’s welcomed in with open arms and is ready to prove that he deserves this opportunity. He’s from Class 1-C, but his desire to fit in and be the very best is an ideology that’s held by every student at U.A. High.
Hitoshi Shinso seems primed to become an important hero, but the mystery around him should not be underestimated, especially when this season has already introduced concepts like traitors and double-agents. There are obvious similarities between Shinso and Shota Aizawa, right down to their attire, but he also bears a strange resemblance to Tomura Shigaraki. Shinso as Shigaraki’s illegitimate child would be a fascninating development and very on brand with the other ideas that this season is currently exploring.
It’s still very late in the game to introduce a surprise of this level and it’d likely cause more eyes to roll in dismissal than widen in excitement. It also seems highly implausible that U.A. High doesn’t have a competent vetting process to learn about Shinso’s history. Shinso likely isn’t evil, but he should still be a fascinating wild card through this season. His Brainwashing Quirk is the perfect ability for a villain and if he’s not aligned with Shigaraki then he might become his next target because the League of Villains could accomplish a lot with that Quirk.
Shinso’s casual demeanor makes him an early favorite between both classes and he’s turned into a rogue element in this competitive training exercise. Classes 1-A and 1-B are divided into teams of four students, but one group will have Shinso added to their party. This is one of the more interesting elements to the proceedings so far since Shinso can be viewed as a beneficial additional teammate, but also a liability since he’s a hero that no one has any experience working with before. “Class A vs. Class B!” lays out the logistics for this massive competition, but the action doesn’t begin until the episode’s final act when only a few minutes remain.
“Clash! Class A vs. Class B!” is light on combat, but the episode’s strength lies in how it prioritizes this unruly cast of characters. The battles barely begin this week, but the teams are divided in a way that shows off certain Class 1-A students that have increasingly receded into the background, like Momo, Fumikage, and Tsuyu. This arc also wisely separates most of 1-A’s most prominent heroes so that characters like Midoriya, Bakugo, and Iida are all on individual teams and not just grouped together. It’s exciting that this season won’t just spotlight Class 1-B’s heroes, but also some of the worthy underdogs in 1-A.

An unexpected element to this clash between classes is that many of these characters have lingering trauma from their previous showdown during the Sports Festival. It helps give that old material greater significance now that the fallout from it informs the current relationships in this joint training exercise. I also really love that there’s a callback to the super peaceful School Festival from the end of season four.
Class 1-B recontextualizes this sweet achievement for Class 1-A with the knowledge that Class 1-B’s absurdist pandering play technically won the School Festival. These characters all have legitimate powers and accomplishments to fall back on, but it’s ridiculous in the best way possible that this previous incident of fun and games becomes part of the catalyst that sets 1-A and 1-B at odds with each other when their mock fight begins.
Midoriya is eager to show off his skills and get another shot at Hitoshi Shinso, but he also can’t fully move on from the past. His prophetic One For All dream continues to haunt him and his discussion over the experience with All Might reintroduces the idea that One For All is a Quirk that’s actually sentient, to some extent. The war between “feelings” and “power” is addressed in response to Midoriya’s Quirk and the “impossible dream” that it teases. Midoriya has a decent understanding of this concept, but it’s still a difficult lesson for many heroes to comprehend.
Midoriya is forced to spin in circles with his thoughts, but the biggest insight that both he and All Might reach is in relation to the morbid “Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory.” This is a principle wherein a parent passes down an even more powerful and destructive Quirk to their offspring and that this generational process can be just as much of a way to genetically manipulate and corner the superhero market as it is a way to organically create a family. Children naturally relate to the idea of a character’s legacy living on through their descendants, but the “Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory” takes this same inspiring premise and turns it into an extensive form of brainwashing and manipulation.
Endeavor is in the process of turning his reputation around, but it’s crucial to remember that he’s been candid over how Shoto’s birth was largely just a cruel bargaining tool in his long-running strategy to surpass All Might as the Number One Hero. Both Endeavor and Shoto have grown beyond this point, but this disturbing Quirk theory gains more weight when there are already practical examples in My Hero Academia that can be looked at.
My Hero Academia’s fifth season seems most interested with this principle in relation to the original One For All and All For One, but the theme of “vestiges” is already entrenched in so many aspects of this new season. Hopefully this season will continue to unpack the fine line between creation and destruction and the fluid nature behind the duality of heroes and villains.
“Clash! Class A vs. Class B!” sets up promising developments, but the episode flies by and once the credits start to roll it feels like barely anything has happened. The very beginning of the first fight gets teased, but it’s easy to picture a more efficient version of this installment that actually concludes the first fight and sets up the second. “Class A vs Class B!” covers a lot of the same material from the previous episode when it comes to Deku’s dilemma and it even feels like a recap at times.
Midoriya’s concerns over his connection to One For All also don’t make for the smoothest of transitions into the training material. It’s possible that this episode could have more substance to it if the One For All saga was condensed to last week’s entry or at least heavily reduced here. It’s clearly not the end of that story, but its focus here just drains the rest of the episode’s momentum.
Of course, once it’s clear how long this Joint Training Arc is supposed to last it will be easier to assess the effectiveness of the pacing in these earlier episodes. At this point it’s unclear if season five will cram several battles into each episode or if the plan is to let these encounters properly breathe and devote at least one installment to each battle.
This is inherently part of the problem with training and tournament arcs, but My Hero Academia has gone through this type of material enough times now that they should have a good sense on how to plot out the first half of this season. “Clash! Class A vs. Class B!” is light, fun, and consistently entertaining, but there’s a feeling of emptiness when it’s over.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
This episode is one big reunion between two groups of powerhouses, but these heroes can finally prove how much they’ve grown now that the pleasantries, peacocking, and introductions are over.

Chapter 3 Improvement
“Oi, Shinso, you look terrible! What happened?” Yukino called as soon as she saw him, and Hitoshi kept back a groan.
“Long night,” he muttered, not in the mood to talk about it.
“You get bruises from sleeping?” Iba raised an amused eyebrow as his purple-haired friend knocked his head on the locker. It was too early for this…
“C’mon, can’t you see he fell out of bed! Everyone knows Shinso and sleep don’t dance!” Hondo hooked an arm around the sleep-deprived boy.
“That’s fair,” Hitoshi chuckled weakly. It was then that he slowly realized – he liked his classmates and they liked him back. They all got along and were friends. A first for him either way. But if he does well in that event and transfers, he’ll be leaving all of them behind. And he wasn’t entirely sure how he felt about that just yet… He hasn’t even told any of them.
“C’mon, let’s go! We got English first class.”
“Mic is probably going to be super energetic as always… How does he do it?”
“Maybe it’s his secondary Quirk?”
“I wouldn’t put it past him…”
The classes seem to fly by quickly as they day went on. Before he knew it, Shinso was waiting outside on the training ground, doing warmup exercises.
“Good to see you’re taking this seriously,” Shota spoke up as the boy turned. He actually had to blink to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. The usually messy teacher had his hair in a ponytail and wore sweatshirt and pants. Very unusual.
“You’re gonna catch flies with your mouth open like that,” the amusement on the man’s face couldn’t be missed.
“And here I thought you didn’t own anything other than your uniform. You even need to borrow suits from Uncle Mic,” Hitoshi shook his head and finished stretching.
“I can buy stuff,” Aizawa shrugged. “Now, you ready? We’re going to do this a bit differently today.”
“How so?”
“I’ll show you the basics and you’ll repeat after me.”
“You’re not gonna be jumping around all Ninja-style are you?”
“Maybe. You’ll just have to wait and see.”
This time, training was easier and seemed to last longer. Shota showed the kid proper stances and attacks, demonstrating and then practicing. Shinso actually picked up on things quickly, though he still lacked strength. Speed would be his biggest advantage, but he still needs to learn how to be nimble and his reflexes are a bit too slow. But they had time, they’d get to all of it.
“We’re taking a break,” Aizawa said, lightly out of breath as the boy panted.
“What – getting – tired – old man?” Hitoshi managed to speak in between pants, a grin making its way on his face.
“No, I just don’t want to drag you back home again,” Shota chuckled as his son plopped down to catch his breath.
“…You’re making good progress you know,” he added and tossed him a water bottle. “We can probably start with kicks next week.”
“Can’t wait,” the way he said it, the hero wasn’t sure if he just exhausted or being sarcastic.
“Something wrong?” he asked when the kid kept staring at the ground.
“Just… been wondering something,” was the answer.
“And what would that be?” Aizawa sat down as well, resting his arm on his knee.
“…Did you get into UA through the entrance exam or…?” Hitoshi asked carefully, glancing at his father who seemed to be shocked by the question.
“…Why the sudden interest?” Shota sounded tenser now, as he looked at the sky.
“Just, curios… The way you spoke at the Sports Festival – figured it wasn’t just on my and the others’ behalf…”
“Tell you what,” Eraser stood up, dusting himself off. “If you can land a solid punch on me, I’ll tell you.”
“…Deal!” Hitoshi was surprised, but willing as he got up and grinned.
Shinso put all he learned that day into action as he and Shota fought, but the teacher was mostly defending and telling him how to be better. In the last few minutes, Hitoshi managed to get behind the man’s block, but suddenly hit air as Aizawa was in the air, grinning.
“So not fair,” the boy grumbled, swallowing and wiping the sweat off his face.
“As an underground hero, you don’t have to be fair,” Eraser said and landed neatly back on the ground. “I do hope you realize you’ll be best suited for that line of work.”
“…Yeah, I figured as much…” Shinso sighed and grabbed the towel nearby, setting it over his neck. They were done for today it seems. Maybe he’ll have a chance to find out next time.
“If villains know what your Quirk is, they can learn to work against it and then you’re not going to be able to do anything. Your Quirk, like mine, is very powerful as long as the enemy doesn’t know about it, because it’s easily countered.”
“I don’t mind, I just… I just want to be a hero. A good one. Even if people don’t know much about it, I’ll know and that’ll be enough for me,” the boy clenched his fists and stared at the ground, determine.
“And that’s all that matters,” he felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up, seeing his father smiling. “C’mon let’s go – Hizashi probably has dinner ready.”
“Well, as long as you don’t go near the food, it’ll be alright.”
Days turned into weeks and weeks quickly became months. Hitoshi was getting stronger and better each time, and was learning fast. Right after the first week, Shinso would stay up late at night, doing some workout routines. He was exhausted quickly, and sometimes had trouble getting into bed or slept in his training clothes. But he didn’t give up.
He forced his body too much some days, but hid it well, even during his training with Eraserhead. It was all a new kind of world he hasn’t thought of much – it wasn’t his strong point or his greatest quality, but he’d make it.
Part of him wondered what Mic or Eraser would think of they ever saw him training, but he imagined they already knew. Sometimes, he could faintly hear the door opening and closing when he was working, or when he knew he fell asleep on the floor but woke up on the bed. They knew, but pretended not to. He didn’t say anything either, but would at times make some coffee or tea in thanks.
When days got warmer, he took his training outside, in the area around the house. It was well out of sight, so he didn’t have to worry about neighbors or bypasses seeing him. He still got exhausted sooner than he’d like, but there was considerable improvement – he could feel it.
It was at the start of the third month, and Hitoshi was doing combo hits on a training dummy, imagining it was Shota and how the man’s own movements would go.
“Remember to keep your arms close to your face,” he heard and spun around, sweat trailing down his face, neck and back. He panted, blinking, before giving a small chuckle.
“I know – I’m working on my balance,” Shinso said as he caught the towel thrown his way. “You’re home sooner than I expected, Uncle. Don’t you have a podcast today?”
“Got canceled unfortunately. I see you clearly would have wanted some more time,” Hizashi walked closer, his hair falling down and tucked under a coat. It was at his radio work that Mic didn’t have his usual long, pointy, banana-looking hairstyle, so it was not strange to see him like that at this hour.
“I wondered how long it’d take for either of you to say something…”
“Shota thought it best to let you do it on your own – clearly it means a lot to you.”
“…I want to advance on my own strength to, not just his,” the boy said, looking away, the towel on his head now.
“Understandable,” Yamada was standing next to him now, looking with sympathy. “But you don’t have to. Accepting help isn’t something you ought to be ashamed of. Then again, Shota was the same…” the man sighed as the kid looked up, eyes slightly wide.
“I swear, you two are somehow related by blood,” Mic smiled kindly, patting the boy on the head over the towel.
“…You’ve fought him, right?” Shinso tilted his head a bit, grinning.
“I have…” Hizashi returned the grin, his eyes knowing.
“…Got any tips?”
“So glad you finally asked.”
With Hizashi helping him, Hitoshi learned some new forms and a slightly different style of fighting, even if it didn’t go too well with his way just yet. Still, as his father usually says, no hero is a one trick pony.
Shota found the two sparring one evening and watched for a bit, happy that Hitoshi was doing and advancing so well. He didn’t care if Yamada was telling the kid a secret in how to defeat him – that’s actually the point. And in seeing how much the boy had advanced in these three months, he decided to hold a little test to see just how much.
“Alright, let’s see how far you’ve gotten,” Aizawa readied himself, staring at the kid. “Knock me over.” They were back at the school field, both dressed in their training outfits. For the past hour, they practiced some more, but now it was getting real.
So far, Hitoshi hasn’t been able to really beat his father, but he was getting closer and closer. He’s managed to hit and deflect him many times now, but defeating him was another thing entirely. Still, he figured after all this time, and with Uncle Mic’s training, he’d be able to do it now. Only one way to find out.
“Ready?”
“Yes.”
It was Shinso who threw the first attack, only to have his fist grabbed. He followed up with a kick and Aizawa raised his knee high to block, never releasing the kid. He knew what’d come next and prepared, as Shota tried to trip him. Hitoshi used his raised leg to lock it around his father’s knee and keep himself balanced as he was tipped. Eraser looked presently surprised before he released the boy’s hand and used his other hand to push him back.
Hitoshi stumbled, but with his leg still locked, nearly tripped if he hadn’t reacted fast enough to grab the teacher’s wrist and pull himself up. Shota finally released his leg, but the kick which followed knocked the student back. Still, he didn’t fall.
“How am I doing?” Shinso asked, panting slightly but smiling.
“Pretty good-,” Aizawa said and a moment later, froze, arms falling to his side.
Hitoshi took action immediately and ran forward, swiping his legs under Aizawa’s and making the man fall on his back, landing with a thud and bringing up dust.
“…You used your Quirk,” Shota sounded impressed and shocked, looking at the kid. There was a mixture of shock and pride in his tone. He had to admit, he was completely caught off guard by that. And it was his first time really experiencing his son’s Quirk – not something he’d care to repeat however.
“You said underground heroes don’t fight fair,” the boy shrugged and offered a hand, which his father took. He hoped it wasn’t too much or too wrong. Using his Quirk on his father… it felt wrong. For a moment, he felt like the power could consume him – it scared him actually, just what he’d be able to do.
“That’s good, well executed,” Shota nodded with a smile, proud that his son thought it through. “Though there are three problems with this.” He wanted the best for the kid, so he had to focus on his mistakes as well.
“Figures, yeah,” Shinso knew at least one – when he does hit someone after using his Quirk, they’ll snap out of it.
“One is probably that as soon as you’ll use it, everyone else will know and figure it out. Save if for when you really need it. Two, there probably won’t be many who’ll even speak to you – remember, you were on the Sports Festival, so someone will probably know. Three, unless you can knock your opponent out, you won’t gain much,” Aizawa listed the things off, but he wasn’t scolding – he was explaining.
“But didn’t you say I don’t have to win?” Shinso narrowed his eyes a bit.
“You don’t have to, but you need to show potential. Can’t do that if you can’t use your Quirk.”
“Three months left… Can I really learn something new that fast?” there was frustration in his voice as he looked to the side.
“Not with that attitude,” at Shota’s words, he looked at the man, annoyed a bit even. “Lucky for you, I’ve been thinking on how to improve it. But I can only give some starting points and ideas – the rest is up to you.” The smirk on the man’s face made the kid excited and anxious at the same time.
“…What did you have in mind?”
“Right now, you can control five people through verbal answering of your questions,” Aizawa started off, grabbing a towel and tossing one to the kid.
“Six if I focus hard enough,” Hitoshi quickly added in, trying not to sound too offended as he caught the towel and wiped his face.
“We’ll try and get you to control people through any kind of vocal answer or even none,” the shocked expression the kid gave him made Shota laugh.
“…How?” Hitoshi’s voice was low and weak as he couldn’t believe any of this. They only had three months to do this.
“Practice. It might keep you only on two maybe three people, but you’ll be able to keep it stronger and somewhat secret if they aren’t sure what’s the reason.”
“And you want me to learn all of that in three months?” Shinso wasn’t sure if he should laugh or cry – maybe both. This was crazy!
“No, I don’t. It’s what you are capable of reaching. But you need to want it and work for it,” the steadiness and almost assurance in the man’s eyes put the kid at ease.
“…Does that mean my combat training is finished?” Shinso asked, a hint of weariness in his tone.
“No, but it’ll have to do. We can work on it when able, but we should focus on your Quirk. Oh and one last thing,” Shota grinned as he looked at the kid. “You need a costume, preferably with a weapon as well.”
And cut! A bit more of how training looks like and how Hitoshi is improving! Sorry if it's kinda slow still, hope I won't lose too many of you! Promise to try and spice things up a bit soon! Thanks for reading and I really hope you enjoyed! If you did, please leave a review! It means a lot and gives me more motivation to work on the story! Thanks! Till next time~
