I don't have high hopes for the popularity of this post, but I want to share a sort of neat thing with my audience. Let's begin at the dawn of time: 2004. Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 edition is cruising right along, and they publish the Expanded Psionics Handbook. Along with the cool psychic powers and classes, they give a few options for players who want to be psionic-adjacent. This is where we get the Illithid Slayer, a prestige class tailored to a Ranger/Psychic Warrior type, but open to a fairly broad spectrum of characters. Now, the Expanded Psionics Handbook is the official source for psionic rules. This means it gets included in the System Reference Document website. But the "mind flayer" or "illithid" is sovereign D&D property, and they don't share the use of it for free. So, to make a long story short, there's a prestige class that anyone can take part in, called a Slayer. You get favored enemy bonuses against a non-specific psionic creature, and your brain tastes bad to those who want to eat it (even though no SRD creature has a brain eating attack*). You even get a cool resistance to the iconic illithid mind blast, which would be super useful if they were included in the open source rules you're using.
Idea: Share your favorite "fossil rule" from an rpg! What relics of the past or isolated references have you found? And does it make you more or less likely to use that rule in your game?
*well, the Intellect Devourer does technically consume your brain, but it doesn't actually eat it, just absorbs the matter as psychic energy. I don't think the wording of the Brain Nausea ability protects you, especially since the Intellect Devourer doesn't have to extract your brain like a Mind Flayer does.

Lancer Metafiction! Have a few stories from the setting for my campaign settings.
So here's some fictional work by a fictional poet I made up for my setting representing her political ideology, Antihumanism. If you like it just let us know and we can post more. "His Table," and "What is the Purpose," by Guzman-Alessandra Evyln, Sunrise Gate Poet and Red-Dwarf Starchildren representative. His Table, “The hegemonist tells me I am human, too, yet when he says what human is, it is always wrong, always superficial, always changing. He has not known me more than a moment’s word, but declares me without consideration to be like him, that I sit at his table. I am not fooled, however; I know I am not welcome at his Hegemonist’s table, that the inhuman creature he describes is me, that the Hegemonist’s coils squeeze an image of my brief utterances and superficial presentation into a shape meant to represent my history, my truth, and my destiny. I know I do not hold the privilege of his Humanity. So then, if I am not a human, only a being subject to the violence of his coiled perception, then I must be antihuman. It is the only conclusion I can draw. I will take up the blade of my thought, and sever the roots this Humanity spreads from. It is the only way to defeat a Hegemonist. What is the Purpose? Why does the Union care about what a person is? A unionite humanist will tell you that union cares so that it can ensure that person has rights. It feels good to say and imagine, so it feels true. It feels right. It feels good to the unionite human and so that is where their thoughts end, mired by a comforting coil of thickened serpent bodies.
They do not follow the coils to untangle. They do not wonder where their serpents end: if union cares to identify persons so that it can give them rights, then they must also care to identify what non persons are, so they can strip those rights. That is how the blade of language sculpts you. It might seem ridiculous to say, to think, but ask yourself how many times personhood has been a debate. Ask yourself how many homunculi exist. Ask yourself why the only defense against cruelty is being a person, or being a human." Guzman-Alessandra Evyln, Sunrise Gate Poet and Red-Dwarf Starchildren representative.

Video Game Storytime: My Cousin's Title
I’d use the previous word epithet, but I recently found the word is considered insulting now compared to the past. So, I’ll be using the word title. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s the stuff phrase after a name. Think Vlad the Impaler. In my phone, I give this to all my contacts (in good humor). My cousin earned his name while playing a round of Golden Eye. This is a James Bond game in the shooter category. On this round of play, we were at a map called Train. Its layout included a subway-like train cars on top of an incline overlooking various construction work structures. Three of us were playing: my brother, my cousin, and I. Sneaking around, I watched as my brother and cousin squared off.
Shots back and forth until my brother pulls a rocket launcher. My cousin stood in the doorway of the train car as I start to her him panic. I watched as a missile slowly inched across the screen. All the while my cousin simply saying no over and over… while not moving. I swear I could’ve made a sandwich by the time it hit. But nope… my cousin decided to watch it all the way until it hit him square in the face. My brother and I crack up laughing, followed closely by our cousin. Our controllers were put aside as we were rolling on the ground laughing. We asked him in between spurts why didn’t he take cover… He retorted with “I panicked” and “Why didn’t I take cover?!”. When we finally recovered, I discovered his title. From now on… he is known as the RPG Watcher… a title he relishes and smiles when I mention it.

while I'm delirious from my cold it occurred to me to create an au like if glee characters were streamers/youtubers:
- santana would be a criticism youtuber with gameplay in the background who always talks about controversies and things like that. A.
- quinn might be a game streamer, i see her playing puzzle games or RPGs. also according to a certain person she would be a lol player, which may be a possibility.
- brittany would be a nintendo youtuber, like most of her videos are playing animal crossing or kirby
- rachel would have a channel about musicals, movies and series where she would also criticize. she would probably live fighting with wantana. she would have an alternative channel where she would upload games but she is not that good at playing, I imagine a scene where they would send her to play fnaf and she would suffer horribly.
- blaine gives me true crime youtuber vibes.
- kurt would make videos of him putting on makeup while telling storytimes, occasionally he would play a game that was recommended to him.
- finn would be a streamer of shooter games like cod or halo. i don't see any other future. he would live in controversies because he doesnt know how to express himself well WISKSKS

IT IS HEEEEERE. THE FIRST THING I'VE WRITTEN WITH ELNOS AND THE FIRST THING I'VE BEEN ABLE TO WRITE SINCE I GOT SICK AND MY BRAIN WENT TO THE SLUUUDGE! I've posted this story on Ao3 and World Anvil. Ao3 has more indepth tagging, but WA's in more of a general content warning type deal. Either way, I hope you all enjoy this, should you give it a read. It was very fun and silly to write!
Please check the tags/content warnings of whichever site you go to reach on. There be furry sucking and fucking in here. Lots of it. It is like 75% of the story-

So, storytime!
My husband plays games, but his realm is in sports games and not so much in rpgs, adventures etc. He’s mostly a pc and playstation guy. As a result he’s not too familiar with LoZ. He knows I’m a big LoZ fan, and at my wedding my side of the party did not skimp on emphasizing this to him from walking up to us and going “Yooooo you marrying a Zelda girl!” to my brother hijacking my wedding music to insert the Gerudo Valley theme.
Regardless-
So now my husband has a nickname for me in our native tongue which essentially translates to “Zelda crazy”.
Today we were cleaning up the house. I have my Ganondorf stuff all over the place, from figurines on my desk, to my ita bag, my shirts etc. so you know…he has a presence. While I was cleaning my desk, my husband pauses and goes “But isn’t Zelda a girl’s name?”
Now it took me a moment to realize he was referring to the Ganondorf figurines I have on my desk. See, I only told him that he was my favorite Zelda character but never his name so I guess somehow he decided his name was Zelda? My instinct was to correct him but then I thought, “Why should I? Why does only Link get the privilege of being called Zelda?”
Anyways I just said that it’s fantasy, anything goes etc so now, maybe for the first time, there is someone on this green earth who thinks Ganondorf is Zelda.

I'm afraid I lied terribly (without meaning to of course - yall should know by now my memory is shit). I did not join tumblr for Doctor Who, but for Glee.
Sidenote: If you ever want to be severly embarassed, go through the tumblr you've had since you were seventeen a month before you turn thirty.
You think you weren't cringe like kids these days are, think AGAIN
If anybodys interested in a Caboose's Storytime below the cut:
Alright, so I came to tumblr for Glee and stayed for...all this fuckery. I love it here, I'm staying.
In all seriousness, I've been looking for the very first time I ever posted about Doctor Who because I was incredibly curious and thank the higher powers that I've got such a fantastic record of my life through this damn blog (and all the times I almost deleted it!! I can't believe this has survived twelve years!!) because I have found sooooo much stuff I hadn't even remembered about myself and my time in fandom.
Glee was such a huge part of my life that although I am cringing so hard and fighting with myself not to delete posts left and right that make me hate my very being, I am glad it's all still here. One day, it won't be. I was in the TRENCHES of the Glee fandom, I mean I went hardcore. What you don't see is all the Glee rpg blogs I've had over the years, lost to time simply because I reuse rp blogs like mad. Or I used to, it's been ages since I've roleplayed, not to mention serious tumblr rp.
So no, all this time I've been misremembering that I've created this blog for Doctor Who and damn...I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed! But it was a huge part of this blog's history, and mine, and I was absolutely here for those superwholock days (even though I was never super and never lock) and a lot of my time in the fandom was spent on the outskirts looking in, enjoying this little Doctor Who paradise on my own.
Anyway. Sorry for being mistaken (and probably making a fool out of myself if anyone were to go back through my blog like...what the hell was this dude on??) but hey. It's the one fandom that's stuck for this long so...I'm going to keep going!

did you guys know that work sucks? crazy, right
so i did my first-ever storytime on thursday morning & it was pretty terrible. my performance left several things to be desired but i don't think i was remarkably horrible, i was just kind of stiff & haven't really picked up the trick yet of making little kids pay attention to you. there were >40 people in the storytime room, which is big for our room, & there was a really wide age range (babies in laps -> 7 year olds). most of the parents who came were fine & it was a little disorganized but we did okay. some of the parents were like, really unhelpful, though—totally checked out, texting or chatting while their children were disruptive; one of them did this awkward rude thing during the craft at the end where she started up a conversation with the teen librarian with clear hopes on getting her to do storytime instead? (the teen librarian was helping me & has done storytimes before, so i get why a parent would be like 'can we have the better librarian please,' except this particular parent cornered me for twenty minutes the preceding friday to get my whole life story & so knew for a fact that i am the only youth librarian & also that this was my first storytime before she walked in the door.) this was somewhat disheartening, i will be frank!
the previous youth services team was one children's librarian, one youth assistant, and a teen librarian who was also the assistant director & spent at least half of her time on administrative work. accordingly, youth services looked like four storytimes a week, occasional homeschool art programs, and teen programs which were almost all facilitated by teen volunteers. however, i want to do three storytimes a month (maximum), one loosely structured art program for younger kids, regular elementary/middle programs (graphic novel book club, tabletop RPGs), and bursts of special or more involved programming (e.g., tabletop wind tunnel). the teen librarian wants to offer life skills programs & craft workshops & pull in students at the high school & local community college. our boss keeps asking me about storytime & her about middle school outreach; when asked for specific expectations, organizational priorities, or a vision for our services, we get nothing. we are unhappy.
so i am trying to figure out how i could rework storytime to make myself less miserable, & i think a couple things are going to have to happen. we are going to drop the number of people allowed to register, and require registration. i think storytime being kind of bad (in comparison to what they had before, but probably also in absolute terms) will be helpful, because this program will become less in-demand & so the pressure will drop; there are a lot of libraries that are less than twenty minutes away from us that offer good storytimes, so i don't feel like i am cruelly denying anyone vital early literacy services. i am also going to have to figure out what kind of storytime presenter i am & how much i can get away with doing weird garbage in storytime to amuse myself. (here is an example: i want to do a storytime for workers' memorial day. does that make any sense? no! but we can read 'someone builds the dream' & maybe some version of 'john henry,' decorate hard hats, & dance to "shosholoza.")
if anyone has advice for this situation OR storytime theme suggestions that you think sound fun i would appreciate it but i am mostly just complaining. good luck out there y'all

Ok something mildly funny happend so it's storytime.
Tonight I went out with a friend from highschool that I hadn't seen since we finished highschool 5 years ago. We met up at his house for a simple videogame night like old times and we were supposed to be like 3/4 people but it ended up being just me and the one friend that was hosting.
Everything starts normally: we catch up a bit, he shows me his new cat (which is super cute) and then we get to play. At some point we decide to try out a co-op rpg he bought but never played and upon seeing the title I think it sounds familiar even though I'm sure I never played anything called that but in order to make some conversation I say "uh I think I've heard of this but can't remember where".
Shortly after we start playing I'm hit with a realization, I know exactly where I saw this thing so without thinking I say it outloud and my friend obviously asks where. So I have to proceed to find the most belivable excuse I can think of because I can't say to someone that I haven't seen in 5 years and that I never really had a very tight relationship with that I know this game because the very first hentai manga I found and that burned itself in my brain was based on this game

Legendlore 2024
Happy New Year to everyone! Now begins the month-long chill session where I figure out where the channel is going in terms of direction, our projects for the year, goals etc.
First off, 10,000 subs is our next goal for sure! But I think that will roll up on us before we know it in good time because of how awesome you all are!
Second, I may try to experiment with some new content such as:
- Video that focus on practical DM Advice separate from any one campaign settting or game system.
- Storytimes for my own personal Campaigns
- Character Spotlights from those same Campaigns
- Content that focuses on the art aspect of things more than just the D&D lore
- Covering other TTRPG systems (specifically I'd love to cover games like the MCDM RPG, Shadowdark, Knave, the Avatar RPG etc.)
All this is to say while D&D lore is a core part of this channel and always will be, I want to try and bring more to the table and help stimulate creative thinking for worldbuilding, NPCs, and adventure development for all my DM viewers, as well as give cool and interesting character options for my PC players who are tired of doing the same thing over and over again.
With that said, I can't wait for the next year and we're going to have a great time!
