idk man to me there is just a huge difference between listening to an old cd by myself and being able to walk into target or fye and find any cd I want just in a physical store. I go into target now and the cd section is a fraction of what it was ten years ago. my friends’ cars do not have CD players in them. my independent actions don’t change the fact that streaming and subscription services are the norm now and physical media, while still available, isn’t as accessible as it used to be bc it’s treated as a nostalgic novelty instead of The way to experience music/movies/whatever

The Tale of Two Cities according to Heiko and Stephi - Part 465
One can find more and more empty shops in German cities. The first photo shows an empty shop in Cologne/Köln, and the second one shows an empty shop in Munich/München.
It has been like that for many years. One reason, of course, is online shopping, which has become even more popular since Covid. People order clothing, furniture, beauty products, electronics, food... almost everything from online resources.
Online shopping has its pros and cons. The pros are: It is easy to compare prices, special products are easier to find, it is time-saving, and we can shop anytime we want because the internet has no opening hours.
The cons are: many local shops lose customers and have to eventually close, you can't actually see or feel the quality of a product when you just look at it online, and you don't have the service or expert advice that in an actual shop.
I know people who buy everything online, and I know people who never order anything online.
I do both, depending on what I need and how much time I have. I don't care to spend a few more Euros to get good expert advice.
Do you prefer shopping online or do you prefer visiting shops?

“Can I draw you?”
Tumblr media
this is kinda long (I got too into it lol)
pulling at the heartstrings a bit here
he’s a willing participant???
unorganized dishes
golden hour
* * *
Being an art student had its perks. For one thing you didn’t have “real” homework like other classes and you could spend majority of your time creating something new. In other cases, being an art student was dreadful, and today proved that to be true.
Walking into class and setting your bag down, you sit at your easel and scroll on your phone as your professor waits for other students to trickle in before he takes attendance. The sound of a chair scooting can be heard as your professor makes his presence known and calls role. He finishes and places his clipboard down, clapping his hands together with enthusiasm.
“Good morning guys! First things first, I just wanted to say you all did a great job at critique this past Tuesday. I was very impressed with the outcome of all your pieces. Now for those of you who have checked the class schedule, you’ll know we have our Portrait 1 assignment due at the end of next week. I’ll give further instructions and we’ll go ahead and get started on those today.” He grabs a stack of papers, assuming to be said detailed instructions for your next assignment. As soon as he hands you a copy, you skim through the premise of what you’re going to be doing.
Portrait 1 Assignment
1. Pick a subject you will be referencing to for your portrait. (No you cannot use a reference online. It has to be someone you can poke).
2. Arrange a time outside of class to meet with your subject to begin your sketch.
3. Pick a feature of your subject to enhance in your final drawing. You can add color, darken line weight or distort the feature you chose, but the rest of the portrait should be in the style of a sketch.
This drawing should be done on an 18x24 sheet of paper from your sketchbook and no smaller.
You internally cringe at the thought of having to snatch someone from campus to sit with you for hours just so you can draw them. You instantly begin to think of people you know who you can draw. You take your phone out and begin typing up a message to a friend of yours, asking when they’re free. Much to your dismay, they inform you that they have work directly after class all this week and won’t be able to help. You understand, but now you’ve got yourself stuck and you absolutely refuse to ask a stranger. For the remainder of the period, all you can do is mindlessly write a list of names and the pros and cons of their potential availability.
* * *
Sitting in the living room after getting back to the dorms, you rest after having no success trying to recruit anyone to be your reference. The dorms are practically empty as everyone is out doing something. Working, training, shopping. Everything you don’t do. Essentially losing hope for the day, you resort to lounging on the couch. Cozy pajamas nearly lulling you to sleep. However before you can slip into the best nap of your life, clanging from the kitchen startles you awake. Whispered curses soon follow, ultimately giving away who caused the noise. Getting up from your oh so comfy spot, you make your way to the kitchen to investigate. Peeking a head in the doorway, you see a rather frazzled Bakugou picking up pots and pans that had fallen to the floor.
Looking at his bent form, you speak up. “You aight?” He picks up the last pot and places it on the counter before responding, fully facing you.
“I’m good. My bad if I woke you.” You give a shrug and lean your hip on the doorframe, arms crossed over your chest.
“Nah you’re fine. Wasn’t fully knocked out anyway. What were you doing in here?”
“Reorganizing. For whatever reason, idiots around here can’t understand that stacking dishes causes shit to fall. Just proved my point too.” His eyes fall on the various pans on the counter he was in the process of arranging. You give a chuckle and move to help put them away.
“Say it louder for the people in the back.”
“Yeah well apparently they ‘don’t respond well to yelling.’ Whatever the fuck that means.” He nags as you both place each dish in their respective places.
“Gotta give em a glare or side eye to get the message across,” you joke.
“Shit only goes so far. But if looks could kill everybody here would be on their deathbed.”
“Jesus man, gruesome much?” You let out a heartier chuckle, actually entertained by his empty threats.
“S’called being self-aware.” He leans against the now empty counter and folds his arms across his chest. A silly thought crosses your mind. A glimpse of hope even. You decide to pursue it.
“Speaking of looks,” you start off tentatively, “I could really use yours if you’ll let me.”
He gives you a half-curious look, left eyebrow slightly raised as he side eyes you. “The hell’s that mean?”
You’re not sure whether it’s the desperation talking or the fact that you’re half asleep, but you immediately hit him with your dilemma.
“Well… can I draw you?” It seems like minutes that go by before he responds with a sharp click of his tongue.
“Lay off the drugs huh? Shit’s got you talkin outta your ass.”
“Bakugou please! I need a reference for an assignment and I’d really appreciate if you’d let me draw you. It won’t take long I swear I’m fast!” Your hands are clasped together as you ask for his cooperation.
“The hell’d you wanna draw me for? Plenty other people you could ask.”
You don’t have it in your heart to mention nobody else was available to help you. It’d be like blatantly telling him he was the last option and you don’t want to potentially upset him by saying that. It’s not necessarily true either, you just didn’t think he would be up for it in the first place so you didn’t want to bother him. He was your saving grace really, never the last option.
“Well you’ve got great eyes. And perfect eyebrows too. So it’s kinda hard not to want to draw you. But seriously, if you’ll let me, I’ll do my very best to capture the best parts of you. Please?” If you hadn’t known any better, you could’ve sworn you saw his hands clutch the counter in a death grip. He’s quiet for a moment. Two moments. Then he shakes his head in disbelief and his eyes sweep to look at anything else but you.
“Fine. Just don’t make me look like shit got me?” A light look of embarrassment covers his face. It’s endearing.
“I promise.” You smile a wide grin, relief relaxing your shoulders. “You mind if we get started tonight? I’m kinda behind as it is.”
He gives a nod and a hum in response. You tell him to stay put as you grab your sketchbook. He takes a seat on the couch and watches the slow sunset. It’s golden hour and the living room is filled with warm oranges and yellows as the sun is close to calling it a day. You come back, supplies in hand and before you can put your things down, you catch Bakugou as he gazes out of the window, the setting sun casting onto his face. With his hand propped under his chin, he looks ethereal. His red eyes now a vermilion as the rays reflect on them. It highlights his jawline, casting shadows that make the edges prominent. His hair aglow in the light, tufts of blonde now appearing marigold. You don’t realize how silly you must look staring at him until his eyes flicker to your frozen form. His gravelly voice pulling you out of your thoughts.
“Got your stuff?” He doesn’t move from his spot as he asks. You gather your bearings and nod.
“Yeah uh I got everything I need. We can start now if you’re ready?” You walk over to the couch where he sits, setting up your easel right in front of him.
“Mmh go ahead. Is there a certain way you wanna do this or?”
“No no what you’re doing now is fine. It’s actually better if you’re comfortable. We might be here a while, but let me know when you need a break.” He gives a nod of approval and you’re off, hands sketching and eyes darting back and forth between easel and subject. Soft scratching noises from graphite on paper filled the silence. By this point you were detailing the features of his hand holding up his face. Neat nail beds and cleanly trimmed. Bruised and scarred knuckles from countless hours of training. A strong neck that connected to an even stronger jaw, probably chiseled by the gods themselves.
You’d be lying to yourself if you thought drawing him would be a chore. It was actually enjoyable. There was no need for trivial conversation. Just you sitting there, drawing him as he let you. Him trusting you to capture his very being with only a pencil. It was a beautiful experience and you couldn’t be more grateful that you both were a part of it.

hey, so I'm trying to figure out what places would be good to sell my own art at, and I'm wondering- what has been your experience with selling on etsy? I've heard mixed reviews from people, and I want to know your perspective as an etsy seller.
etsy is not perfect but i think it gets a little more shit than it deserves, i've thought about opening my own website but generally i'm actually pretty okay with the services i get on etsy compared to what it costs so i'm just gonna make a subjective pros/cons list for you under the cut (because its loooong)
oh and if anyone else has experience selling on etsy and would like to add their two cents in the replies/reblogs please do!
Pros
⭐ The search function - this is etsy's biggest selling point. it already has a dedicated userbase of millions of people and a search feature to help them find your shop, which takes a lot of the load of marketing off your shoulders, and marketing is a huge factor for pushing sales. i am not good at marketing and a lot of my sales just come from people searching my stuff up lol
⭐ Purchase protection program - if USPS loses or damages your package, you file a missing package report and they confirm they don't know where it is, Etsy will refund your buyers order out of their own pocket (under $250). this is my favorite etsy feature because USPS likes to eat packages every now and again. delicious keychains. if you had your own storefront, you'd just have to replace the order yourself.
⭐ Share & Save program - every time someone makes an order on your shop through a special Share & Save link, etsy will refund you 4% of the fees. it's a nice perk to doing some of your own marketing and it helps combat the moderately high etsy fees!
Trackable letter mail - selling stickers but think it's insane to charge $4 shipping? you can buy letter mail labels for about the rate of regular postage, which is like .65c. this tracking is done through etsy though so you can't track with usps, but it does give customers a little peace of mind. this only works in the 50 US states though.
Customs forms built into your shipping label - shipping internationally is a nightmare. etsy makes it easy though, generating everything you need to ship internationally on one label that you just have to sign and date and slap on your package like normal. for some countries they will actually just have your package sent to a domestic facility where they literally do all that for you. this is miles easier than having to do all that paperwork yourself.
buy shipping labels directly from etsy - related point, and just what it says on the tin. when you fulfill an order, you can buy your labels right there on Etsy so you don't have to mess around with a third party website. it comes out of your sale funds so you don't need to charge a card or a bank account or anything.
star seller program - some people say this is completely useless but i actually disagree! it's incredibly easy to earn this badge, and it lets buyers know you've got some of the best products, shipping, and customer service around. it helps you stand out from some of the more... questionable shops on the website.
sales tax - they remit sales tax for you. i don't think any of the other online platforms similar to etsy do this but i could be wrong. doing any kind of taxes sucks so i consider it a perk if they do it for you.
website promotions - every now and again etsy likes to host sales out of their own pocket. you get all the perks of having a sale without eating into ur profit margin. HUGE sale booster
generally the site is just very easy to learn and use and it's very beginner and dumbass friendly. i say this as a former beginner and current dumbass 👍
Cons
❌ the fees. oogh the fees. they claim it's just a 6.5% fee per sale, but on top of that you have to pay .20c automatically for every individual item you sell, plus there are processing fees (3% + .25c) that apply both to the item you sold AND the cost of shipping. i think it comes out to like 10% total in fees on average @ > @
❌ but wait, there's more fees! if you make more than $10k in sales a year (very easy number to hit actually) you are forced to participate in offsite ads, which i believe takes 15% of your total sale on top of the fees in the previous point. these kinds of sales are not as common as you'd think, but it's still annoying having a couple bucks shaved off your profits a few times a month because of them.
corporate bullshit - etsy is like renting a space in a mall. you don't own your lot, nor the mall itself, so if upper management decides to make any stupid ass decisions, you just have to deal with it or pick up and move. if they decide to raise fees again, you just gotta Deal. you are a little bit helpless on this website unfortunately
the push for discounts - etsy is constantly shoving it in your face that they want you to do discounts. they want you to have free shipping on orders over $35, they want you to do 25% off or more on sales, they want you to have returning customer discounts and abandoned cart discounts and 'you recently favorited this item' discounts - but you already have to compete with the steep fees, and when a customer gets free shipping, you still owe USPS that $4-ish bucks to send the package. you don't have to do any of this, but they do reward participating shops by favoring them in the algorithm and search results, so you can feel like you're missing out.
there aren't as many cons imo but they Are steeper cons. generally etsy is very beginner friendly and easy to get into and set up, and in spite of everything i do actually recommend everyone looking to get into online retail start on etsy and perhaps move to other platforms in the future. plus, you can combat all the fees by just... making your prices a dollar or two higher than you initially wanted to, and using your 'save and share' link as frequently as possible. the fees are a little bit much, but you have to think about what you get in exchange:
the search is invaluable, you could argue the fees are partially a marketing budget lmao. if you have a private website you alone have to push traffic to your website, and not as many people know about things like shopify and bigcartel so they might not be as trusting putting their card details into it. i miss out on a lot of REALLY COOL STUFF because artists only advertise on instagram and i don't hear about them, meanwhile if i want some cool owl house stuff i can literally just search that in etsy and find a lot of TOH stuff super easily. i cannot highlight enough how GOOD the search function is, especially in this day and age where social media like instagram and twitter will blacklist your posts if you say words like 'shop' or 'sale' and now nobody can find your stuff in that website's search either. its very hard to do your own marketing now a days :(
being able to refund customer's lost orders out of the company's pocket is such a nice thing to fall back on if you have to and worth its weight in fees. USPS lost like... four or five packages of mine in december. that's like $100 or more worth of stuff that Etsy Covered Completely, and a lot of the times the customer will take that refund to make their order again. don't abuse this system, make sure you check with usps that the package is actually Gone, but it's a godsend when you don't make billions of dollars and eating the cost of lost orders would otherwise sting a bit.
if etsy did not make international shipping easy i simply would not ship anywhere but the US to be honest. shipping to europe is still a headache though but that's because europe is stupid
that's everything i can think of, but tl;dr yes please open an etsy 👍 i recommend it completely in spite of everything
⭐ if anyone wants to open their own etsy shop, use my referral link to make your first 40 listings for free! :)c ⭐

// Long ask
@ Anon who asked for art site with little to no censorship and doesn’t allow AI generated content:
There’s XFolio
You can post art and fanfics there, it’s kind of like a good alternative to Pixiv.
Pros:
They don’t allow AI art or AI fanfic at all (!!)
A Gumload-like online shop feature
Decent block feature
Option to disallow other users from saving your art as images
Cons:
They don’t allow VPN connections or throwaway accounts, but I guess it’s understandable due to them having a strong policy against site scraping and trolls
The only languages supported for now are Japanese/English/Mandarin, no idea when or if they will add other languages
Anyways I hope this helped even if it’s just a little, if you want a fanfic specific site that’s against AI content, I recommend going to SquidgeWorld.

MM x Exam Season
Word count: 804
Requested: Yes/No
Tumblr media
Requests: Open/Close
Bold: Mason
Italics: you
AN: I don’t go to uni so i had to look at the grades online, pls forgive me. I had this all typed out on my laptop which was supposed to be longer, then it all got deleted 🙃😭
 -----
You’ve had exams every other day for the past 2 weeks. 2 weeks you haven’t seen your boyfriend Mason, 2 weeks you haven’t seen your family. Being known as masons’ girlfriend had its pros and cons, being in the family and friends area at Chelsea every other week was the best part. Cons? Not seeing him as much as you’d like and the hate. But with both having busy schedules you both came to terms with it eventually. You had your last exam in a weeks’ time, you agreed that Mason could stay for the week since the football season is over. You was in your garden with your books and he was kick his ball up and down on the concrete, you never had an issue with it but the sound was beginning to irritate you more than you thought.
“Mase please can you stop? Just for two hours? Please? I really need to concentrate.” “But you don’t give me attention when you study. I haven’t seen my girlfriend in weeks and all she does is study when I’m around” and with that his ball smashes your laptop “y/n I’m sorry. Please forgive me” you didn’t even stay to accept his apology, you went straight to your study room, locked yourself in and screamed. You had books that you could study from, but all your notes was on your laptop... every single note you made was on there, and now it’s gone. Because of your boyfriend couldn’t wait for a couple of hours for your attention.
——
Before you knew it, it’s was approaching 7pm and you could smell the freshness of something cooking but you hadn’t done any shopping in weeks due to stressing over your exams. “Why have you done this? I told you I’d be okay on a coffee and red bull” “I made it because I can tell that’s all what you’ve had for the past two weeks, I’ve made you a proper home cooked stew. Just like when we was kids, what my mum used to make us both” “I’ll eat it, but after I need to study” “not until I’ve given you a bath, you need to relax. I can tell that your stress levels are through the roof. You don’t need to stress too much you’ve got the final exam and I know that you will pass it without a doubt” just those words made you cry, yes all the stress and build-up of the anxiety hasn’t helped but that just topped it off and you needed a good cry. “I know I know but it’s just all too much for me right now. I’m sorry that I haven’t been replying to your calls, or seeing you properly in the last two weeks but this is the big exam Mase” he hugged you even tighter than before “listen its okay. Once this final exam is over with, we’ll go on holiday. Just you and me. We need some time together we’ve both been stressed and struggling at the moment. We deserve it” you both stay there for a little while longer before deciding to eat.
——
A week later you was awake at 5am, going over your notes that you made, ready to leave for uni at 8am, for the exam to start at 9:15. You was nervous but you could just about keep your nerves to a limit. Going into the hall you felt your phone vibrate and it was a message from mason:
Mase: good luck today angel, we’re all behind you. Go make us all proud. See you soon. Love you xxxxx
You didn’t have enough time to reply but he was definitely your good luck charm. All the weeks of studying is now down to this final exam.
Roughly a month later, it was results day. You wanted everyone to be there with you but it wasn’t possible, so you and Mase decided to set up both laptops (he brought you a new one) and have a zoom call so your family, his family and the Chelsea boys could celebrate with you all at once. You would be getting the results via email, time was going slow, slower than before. Your anxiety was skyrocketing and so was your blood pressure. You kept refreshing your emails from 8:58, you was too nervous to read them out for yourself so Mason read them out for everyone.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the results are in…” “Hurry up Mase please this isn’t helping” “I can proudly say my girlfriend got a…” “It’s not higher than D1 is it?” “A1! You’ve passed baby! You’ve passed!” Everyone cheered, you couldn’t believe it, and you passed all the stress was finally worth it. “I can’t believe I did it, I passed. I’m now officially smarter than my footballer boyfriend” “watch it misses”

Cut to the chase, this will be a very long post because of the amount of information the people presenting gave us! So much! Anyhoo, the 1.5-hour Zoom meeting was a bunch of representatives from mostly tech companies giving out advice for CVs/Resumes, practical career advice, interviews, and technical interviews. Though this is targeted towards tech people, anything can find the information given to be somewhat helpful!
The Sections
CV/Resume Advice focused
Preparing for first round Interview
How to Stand Out on LinkedIn
Technical Interviews and how to stand out to the Tech Hiring Manager
Career and CV/Resume tips for Tech Graduates
Warning Signs from An Interview
Section 1 - CV / Resume Advice 💻📑
Employers only read your CV in 30 seconds - make the information they are going to read count.
Make it personal to you AND relevant to the role you are applying for
Make sure the content on your CV is concise - don't ramble on forever
The layout should be easy on the eye - not all stuck together in terms of text but not too colorful and in your face
Formatting - The most important and relevant information at the top.
Create a punchy Bio summary at the top - Three-four sentences about who you are and what you do - what you are passionate about
It’s okay to have a 2-page CV/Resume IF the information is all relevant. If not, keep it to 1 page.
Skills - Technical skills and soft skills listed
Your experience ✨
Fact-based.
Don’t copy the job descriptive
Talk about YOUR achievements
Don’t use too much “I did this… I am this…”
Your education 🏫
Include everything relevant like bootcamps, apprenticeships in the area you are applying for
Keep high school information minimal if not relevant
Hobbies and Interests 🎮🎲
Share hobbies that show a skill
Think about what the company does e.g. A gaming company and you're a gamer
Share you’re creative - an eye for colour, design, and creative thinking
Know how to destress - you like yoga and mindfulness
Don’t include hobbies that are more lifestyle e.g. shopping and eating out
Include awards you have gotten that would be relevant to the job you are applying to.
Section 2 - Preparing for first round Interview 👩‍💻
❌ Don't ❌
Do not speak negatively of your previous company/employees - it has a bad look on you and might jeopardize your employment stage if you get the job when they talk to your previous manager
Do not appear to be disengaged/uninterested when interviewed - body language can be assessed also
Do not give false information - about your skill set, don't lie saying you know a language when you don't, and be transparent
✅ Do ✅
Do ask for clarification if you are unsure about anything. Could be about the job description, or want them to expand on things, do ask questions 💯
Do active listening and respond 👂 - ensure that you are present in the moment
Do ensure you sell your strength/have a positive attitude - sell yourself so that they can pick you
What is the typical interview process? 🎬
Phone/Video Screening with the hiring manager/someone from the company
1st interview -  Face-to-Face / Remote with the hiring manager/member of the team via Teams / Zoom etc
2nd Interview
Stakeholder/Hiring Manager
Might do a presentation or a task (technical interview if for a tech role)
Give yourself enough time to complete the task
Key Tips to succeed in the interview 🔑
Preparation - ensure you look up who the attendees are for the interview (e.g. via Linkedin)
Research - Look up the company information/Statistics/Glassdoor reviews/Social media content. See how they are online, what the company’s culture is like, pros and cons
Questions - Do not be afraid to have a list of questions for your potential employer / take a notepad with you, to prompt this / take responses down.
Review - Study the job descriptions to identify the pros and cons of the job.
Structure your answers - STAR approach - Situation, Task, Action, Approach
Time management - If you have multiple interviews to prepare for, schedule allocated time in your day to prepare for each process
Rest - Ensure to have a good night's rest prior to the day. Allow yourself no distractions in the last 15 mins leading up to your interview!
Section 3 - How to Stand Out on LinkedIn 🙌
Going through each section of your LinkedIn profile and tips on how to improve it!
Banner
Having a banner is best, don’t leave it empty.
Make it related to your desired role - a techy image for tech people, the image of the city’s business sector for business people
Profile picture
Have a profile picture to have an idea of who you are
Have the “Looking for work” banner on
Sub-section
The headline: Be passionate about who you are. Have key elements of who you are.
Have your name and pronouns
It's okay to use emojis in your profile - shows personality
Featured Section
Use the featured section to show off who you are
Show pieces of work you’ve done
Have certificates? Show them here
You can have up to 5 pieces in the featured section so choose wisely
It shows the employer how active you are in the community for tech people
Activity
Write posts every so often
Use hashtags (only 4-5 at most) to make your post reach more
Use hashtags that have a lot of followers (search in on LinkedIn to find out how many followers the hashtag has)
If you have recently been let go, make a post about it, with the hashtag, and people will repost or comment to help you
About
Another part where you can talk about yourself
Make it really personal
Be specific - not just a long paragraph about yourself
Key skills - programming languages, even things you are currently working to learn
Talk about your strong areas
Add a GitHub, Replit, GitLab, etc
Recommendation
If you have worked somewhere else, have an ex-coworker make a recommendation for you - employers love to see how other people who have interacted with you have to say about you
Talking to Hiring people - Not a section but a to-do
It can be scary but it’s okay to message the hiring individual to say “Hey I have recently applied, is it okay to look out for my application” and go on more about why you would be a good candidate.
The hiring managers have to look at so many applications and CVs/Reumes and they find it difficult to see people’s values and personalities so giving them a message will prompt them to search for your application and read through it.
Section 4 - Technical Interviews and Standing out to the Hiring manager in one 🚀🤘
Each company is different and will be doing it in a different way - e.g. one company tests your C# skills and another might test your PHP skills
Prepare by asking questions about what it would involve - most employers tell you what languages will be involved, if they don’t, ASK!
Coding exercises and Take-Home challenges are the most common
Understand what platform and what format will it be in e.g. what programming language you will use
Ask questions if you don’t understand something! - You don’t understand one part of the coding exercise, ask. It’s not weak to ask questions, you don’t want to do the exercise completely wrong.
Use Google - It's okay to Google to refresh your knowledge you've forgotten a bit. Googling is a skill in itself.
Use the STAR technique
Be honest and be yourself - don’t lie, be honest if you completely don’t understand something
Be confident in what you CAN do
How to Impress a Tech employer 👀
Ask questions 🤔
The relevant question to the job role
Ask about the team, company, culture, responsibilities, and career path, and even ask the Hiring Manger why they like their job also!
Don’t wing it
Highlight additional learning
Coding bootcamps, open source contributions, online free learning
Showcase your previous work
GitHub, GitLab, Projects, Presentations, etc.
Section 6 - Warning Signs from An Interview 😰❌
Not every company knows how to hire and interview well - making the whole process even worse. Here are some things to watch out for...
Structure ❌
No structure to the interview
No intro to set expectations
Not being able to articulate what the company does not get you excited about the work they do
Or it’s like they asked to do an interview with 10 minutes notice…
The Interviews 😨
Whenever you ask how long the interview process / how many rounds there will be and they don’t give you a concrete answer… start to worry…
Rule of 4 interviews - having so many rounds wastes your time and the company’s time. 4 interview rounds at most!
Quality ❌
It might be structured but they might be asking shit questions that have no relevance to the job role at all
E.g. “How many golf balls can you fit in a mini car?” Why are you asking me that when I’m applying for a C# Developer role?
Power to the people!!! 🤘💯
Leave reviews on Google, Glassdoor, or anywhere else if the interview process was terrible.
Let other people know what the company is really like!
Call them out and make them improve their interviewing process.
┌── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆
Well, that's all! I hope some or all of the information I collected help you! If you think any of the information is incorrect or false, take it to the companies because I just copied what they presented on their slideshows 😋
Have a nice day/night and happy programming 👍🏾💗

Going X-mas Shopping With One Piece Characters - Platonic
Did someone say they wanted some platonic things? well then! Going shopping with OP chars for their S/Os and you guys are best friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ace
You’ve been friends with him for ages and you knew how flustered and panicked he could get no matter how he tried to come across as cool.
He wanted to get something for his partner and dragged you, his best friend along with him.
“So these are my ideas,” He started and soon listed off loads of things, you lost count of all of his plans and things he’d found for you.
It was sweet, honestly.
It was lovely seeing him so in love and just wanting to spoil his partner for Xmas.
But you did need to be the voice of reason.
He couldn’t buy you everything after all.
You drag him out for boba and try and recommend the things you personally think his partner would like the most.
Manage to calm him down, even help him pick some nice wrapping paper while your at it.
A fun yet, hectic day with Ace.
Tumblr media
Marco
He seems to have it all planned out.
You met him for lunch, and he pays, as a thank you for coming so short notice to help him out.
He’s been so busy with work and he believes in finding gifts in person instead of online.
You are happy to help Marco, you’d do pretty much anything for your best friend.
You walk around the shops and he seems to know what he's looking for, he just enjoys having company and a second opinion.
Just because Marco mostly knows what he’s doing doesn't mean he doesn't get distracted by the odd shiny thing and his plans get a little derailed.
And that's where you step in, keep him on track or you’ll be in the store for far too long.
Marco has a habit of letting things get away with him after all.
You think Marco doesn’t need help and as much as he knows what his partner likes and wants it’s nice to have company and someone to keep him on track.
Sitting with a hot chocolate after hours of shopping together is also a plus.
UNDERCUT THATCH - LAW - KILLER
Tumblr media
Thatch
Oh, he wants to buy his partner everything and anything and has a habit of buying complete crap with the best intentions.
He will 100% pick up everything he finds neat and buys it for his spouse.
That’s why he invites you, the lure of free dinner and his undying gratitude get you and you meet up with the energetic chef.
You had no idea Thatch could shop, you can feel your feet screaming at you as you follow him into yet another store.
It’s your job to tell your best friend that his partner does not need the novelty mug that has a rude word on the bottom.
Or the apron that is a naked man.
After the world's most hectic shopping trip you manage to make Thatch think about his choices more and he seems pleased with what he bought for his spouse.
That’s when he takes you to dinner and you can rest your screaming feet.
Tumblr media
Law
He seems like the last person who would need help buying things for his partner but actually, the man is an anxious mess and is always this close to having an internal emotional breakdown whenever he’s in a busy shop [Me to baby]
So he asks you, feeling awkward and muttering under his breath.
You happily agree and arrange to meet.
Law is a nightmare going shopping with because he will pick up two almost identical things and stare at them debating which is better.
He doesn’t like to buy his partner lots of things, he likes to find one perfect and meaningful gift so it will take him an entire day.
So, bestie, get used to this.
He’ll give you lists of pros and cons for each different item and you will just need to add your input, which he listens to, considers, and goes back to staring between the two.
Eventually and thanks to you Law figures out what he wants to buy.
And then he takes you for coffee and you can’t wait to get out of the mall.
Tumblr media
Killer
You get a message at 3 am from him asking you for help shopping tomorrow.
Killer never asks for help but he’s been struggling to get his ass in gear to go and buy something for his partner for ages.
And he’s running out of time.
You agree but also wish he wasn’t at your door at 9 am sharp.
You look a mess and he greets you, taking you to breakfast at the very least which helps you get ready for the day.
Shopping with Killer was great, everyone moved the fuck out of his way and it meant you could be cheeky and get some of your own shopping done too.
You really have to pry every cookbook from his hands as he gets distracted.
He knows what he wants, at least he’s in the right direction.
Killer just needs an extra opinion that isn’t Kid saying everything is ‘shit’ and cussing out wayward toddlers.
Once he knows what he wants he’s in and out in a flash though.
Thankfully.
And then off for a beer.

Hello Onigiri!
Do you have a website recommendation on buying books, Manga and light novels from Japan? I am currently addicted to Blue Lock, and wanting to buy their novels.... And at the same time, I want to buy some reading materials (especially focusing on grammar).
Thanks in advance!!! (^o^)
Hi @haku2naomi420 ! <3 I'm a huge fan of your blog and I enjoy the kanji posts! Sorry this answer took so long!
Kinokuniya USA Online
I normally buy my physical copies of manga or Seitokai bookclub books from Kinokuniya USA online. Though Kinokuniya is a Japanese company, it does have some locations in other countries. I don't live near a physical location, but I am able to order through their website. > CON: Their shipping prices are ridiculous unless you reach the min amount of free shipping. CON: They hold your entire order if a single thing isn't available yet...I've had orders take weeks longer than expected before because a single item wasn't ready yet. > PRO: You can send inquiries about books that you may not be able to find on their website, as they might be able to order it for you anyways. PRO: They sell an assortment of things in English, Japanese, and Chinese including textbooks, cookbooks, magazines, stationery, anime merch, etc. (They didn't specify if it was Mandarin or Cantonese :,) )
OMGJapan
I've ordered my N2 日本語総まとめ workbook series from them before I knew that Kinokuniya had an online store for America. The website has various textbook series alongside snacks, stationery, and graded readers. They even have textbooks for business Japanese
CDJapan
They have an array of everything! I can't remember if I've personally ordered from here when I was younger, but there are a lot of people in our server who recommend this is as well.
Amazon Japan (or Amazon [home country]) and eBay
Yes, the true evils...sometimes people are selling their used copies on there or the publishers of certain books are also posting their stores on there.
cmoa.jp
*🙋‍♀️I'm a hardcore cmoa user! They have digital copies of manga, light novels, webnovels and copies of novels on here as well. They also have some great deals and offer a ton of free manga and coupons.
@chouhatsumimi Also has a very helpful post on how to use honto.jp
I haven't used this, but @chouhatsumimi does as well as other people in our server!
bookwalker.jp
I haven't used this site, but many others have! They are also ebook sellers.
Verasia.eu
This site has been recommended by our European server members. The website also boasts itself as the ideal shop for Japanese learners.
The infamous Z-library (lmao) for out of print things
Surprisingly, a book that Kinokuniya told me they couldn't acquire because it was out of print was available on Z-Library...somebody was willing to destroy their copy to scan and upload it on there.
If there's also a specific grammar book or series that you're looking for, message me because I might be able to find it somewhere online! (Or I might already have it.)
Shameless plug: starting Apr 2023, the Seitokai Server will be reading かがみの孤城 if anyone is interested

sometimes, when i let myself just sort of daydream about cool things i could be doing, some of my “if you love your job you never work a day in your life” (ik its bs bc i love my current job too. but you get the vibe) daydreams is owning a doll store specializing in bjds & art dolls & materials for them with a whole show room, or just being a bjd dealer without a brick and mortar. i’m the type of person who enjoys helping people find and get things, and the times i worked in fields like that (procurement & also regular retail jobs) i really enjoyed it. it’s influenced what my current career path is too. I miss the unique vibe our family tailor shop had brought to our two when i was growing up, and the old fabric & craft store too. I miss the strange antique & vintage store that my grandma would take us too, with the big room that was just full of dolls of all kinds (well, mainly porcelain, bisque & barbies) as well as doll clothes and doll houses. I want to be that for the modern era, for the modern kid and their parent to wander in and look at dolls and related products. Maybe my thing would be BJDs and American Girl Dolls, and i’d help people place orders in person. I’d obviously have a website, but there’s something quaint about during christmas time a parent comes in and buys some american girl dresses. or one of the local college kids in the anime club discovers that this weird shop in their boring college town has BJDs, and they come and look a lot because they’ve always seen them online but never in person. also, it’d be great to be able to see so many dolls and clothes….. but i don’t have to keep them >:) I get to look and maybe display some (those would probably be my own collection) but they’d eventually leave me to their forever home. Muahahaha. That’s like my perfect doll collection ideal.
i dunno, i just think it’d be neat. i’m aware there’s a lot that goes into business, my family are primarily business owners (tailor shop for example, contractors, the like). truly the online only dealer presence would be far better business wise with real estate, loans, and the economy the way it is in my state, so i’d only have to worry about storage.
It’s also such a niche thing that if i ever did it, there aren’t a lot of people to ask about how they started, their pros/cons, etc. I’d love to hear more from people who are dealers of niche hobby things (gundams, figures, toy trains, etc even). anyways, what’s your fun hobby daydream?
