Could you please describe the Dad Donald AU? I’m interested in this.
WHEN I TELL YOU I JUMPED OFF MY SEAT,,
No one usually asks about my AUs so this was a surprise!
Now, at first I was a bit confused because,, “Dad Donald AU” is very generic, so my first reaction was “WHICH ONE” because I have around,, 10? AUs? I think? So yeah!
But then I thought that maybe you meant the “Dad Donald AU” Series from AO3 because my fic is in that series! So to explain really quickly, that series will just be a sort of collection of all the fics where Donald is a dad, to either the triplets or Lena or both! Or even April, May and June! My usual theory about Donald being Lena’s dad is either her being adopted by him or her being his actual, biological child!
I have a couple of AUs (by a couple I mean dozen) and I will make art and/or fics about all of them, so do not worry about that!
Now, the main theme is Magica using Donald’s DNA to create Lena, because let’s be real here, no way she could create Lena from her shadow for one simple reason!
Here is an illustrated guide :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And also Lena is more similar to Donald than the triplets are, so I like to headcanon that Donald is her biological father most of the time!
BACK ON TRACK-
The Dad Donald AUs are many, and I would love to talk about them, but since that would take forever, I’ll just make you guys a list and you can ask me about the ones you find more interesting! I think I’ll start writing snippets of them as well!
The biological Dad ones are around,, 6? Or so? Then there’s just the ones where he takes care of Lena or straight up adopts her, and of course, takes care of the triplets! In special cases, also the girls and/or Gosalyn!
- The Ducks (fluffy AU where Donald lives at Quackmore institute, currently making fanart for it)
- Stuck on the Moon (Donald gets stuck instead of Della, except Lena is with him, so he raises her on the moon)
- In the Depths (Where Donald gets stuck into the ocean by saving Della from the Spear, and Lena is semi-raised by Gladstone while she tries to find her dad)
- Undercover PK (Donald raises Lena but has to disappear because of FOWL, Lena spends her time with Gladstone at McDuck manor- the others don’t know about Lena and Donald, it’s a long story)
- Singer AU (Of course, I had to do it. He’s a singer named Misfortune and adopts Lena, who, obviously, becomes his Number one fan)
- Magic AU! (Where the triplets have magic and Donald teaches them how to use their powers, Lena tags along from the very start because she’s also interested in magic)
- Adoption AU (Where Donald sees homeless Lena and after the third or fourth time meeting her, decides to adopt her. She becomes the triplets’ older sister!)
- His girls (Daughters au! Donald is Lena’s biological father, but he’s also adopted April, May and June! And a baby Shamrock he just rescued from FOWL!)
- Golden Luck (Where Louie inherits Gladstone’s luck, but he doesn’t let that stop him- Donald is their parent, so Louie uses his luck to help him out)
- College buddies (Drake and Donald are college buddies and when Drake decides to adopt a girl, Donald helps him out, since he already raised April May and June and has adopted Lena already!)
I think that’s most of them? Let me know which ones you find more interesting and I’ll do a in depth description! Maybe even add some concept art or snippets/comics! :D
(Shamrock’s a girl cus personal headcanons, tell me if you’re also interested in that and I’ll explain why!)

Team Magic magical misunderstanding AU, where-
What if the amulet hadn’t been blasted onto the beach at the end of the shadow war though. What if it’d fallen at Scrooges feet again, like it did on Vesuvius, but this time he locks it up in the other bin.
What if Webby still went to the library looking for clues about shadow magic only this time it was a fake Webby (nervous huey in disguise, luckily you’re not supposed to talk much at a library) meanwhile Louie was causing havoc at the manor so Webby and Dewy could try breaking into the other bin’s new security-
Webby wont STEAL the amulet she PROMISES she just wants to LOOK AT IT FOR CLUES-
she swaps it for a fake behind Dewy’s back as they leave.
(Bad enough if they ever get blamed for helping her into the other bin, she’s not going to get them mixed up in the dark and very forbidden magic she’s planning next.)
(she's not losing anyone else the way she lost-)
What if Violet didn’t find the amulet on the beach that day, what if she’d gone down there (again) to clean up beach litter (for a junior woodchuck badge) mostly in the form of empty bottles with messages stuffed inside of them (as usual)
but now she’s more interested in reading the newest anonymous notes (LENA'S notes...)
which have shifted from clearly fictitious pleas for help from stranded sailors, to what seems to be a series of personal entries written on pages ripped from someone’s diary,
they chronical a growing friendship undercut by a secret betrayal that is causing the writer much well-written and fascinating angst,
and Violet has been compiling into a scrap book
(Webby took Lena’s diary from the amphitheater, and she opens it sometimes to thumb sadly though the ripped out pages right after they met, wondering aloud what Lena might have written about her)
(trapped in Webby's shadow, knowing she won't hear, Lena tells her)
On the night of the shadow war Violet finds several message bottles all with hastily and poorly penned single words in them, such as “ECLipSE” “MAgIC” “TRAITOR”
and she’s puzzling over them when what appears to be literal shadowy hell breaks out over The Money Bin of Scrooge McDuck
Not everything is darkness though. Chased towards the sea while trying to escape malevolent semi-corporeal shadows, Violet falls in the surf, only to see something blue glowing just below the water
The object flashes when she picks it up and the shadows draw back. A moment later the light intensifies for one bright moment- causing the shadows to flee completely- as behind Violet there’s twin flash of blue light from the money bin- before going completely dark.
Magic is apparently real and capable of protection as well as evil shadow summoning.
It also comes in the form of a clearly homemade bracelet.
Violet puts it on and begins to investigate.
Later, unheard and unseen the endless night of the shadow realm, Lena is clutching her face and shrieking whenever Webby pulls out Magica’s amulet.
Her wild tries to grab the thing and throw it as far away from Webby as possible only activate it, though, and make Webby more determined to figure out how to use it.
If it banished Lena (ONLY banished, because she can't really be-) then it can bring her back, right?
Webby quickly (unfortunately) realizes that anger is the key to Magica’s powers, and Lena can only watch as Webby digs deeper and deeper into painful memories and thoughts, trying to summon more and more anger, determined to master the magic she thinks could bring Lena back.
(not like this. if getting out of the shadow realm comes at the cost of Webby yelling at herself for not noticing the signs of Lena’s situation sooner and BLAMING herself for it, then Lena doesn’t want to be saved)
(not that it matters, since Webby can’t hear her anyway)
Huey is still going to the library as Webby, now covering for her alone time fixing up Lena’s old hide out
(a healthy step in the grieving process, according the guide book) (Webby is using the amphitheater to practice magic unseen)
What if, while researching at the library this time, Violet meets a Webbigail Vanderquack who is plainly a fake.
What if Huey-as-Webby looks down and sees Lena’s friendship bracelet on the wrist of a girl reading up about shadow magic, and runs to Webby in a panic.
What if Webby (keyed into anger thanks to all her magic practice) jumps straight to luring in and attacking Violet, who is clearly Magica De Spell in disguise again,
and what if Violet, unaware that the treachery warned of in the notes has already happened, sees a fake Webbigail wielding the amulet of Magica De Spell and decides her duty as a junior woodchuck is to take action against this plot-
What if Webby unleashes Magica’s magic on Violet, only for Violet to chant a little rhyme...
and block the blast with Lena’s own friendship bracelet.
What if, as Webby stares in shock (then anger, then fury), Violet reveals she has unlocked the magic of the bracelet she found, and the key is in reading out passages and poems from the torn diary pages- specifically those parts that talk about the writer’s friendship with the girl she is about to betray.
What if hearing Violet recite Lena’s words makes it harder and harder for Webby to hold on the anger she needs to fight with Magica’s magic, making her attacks faulter even as Violet’s shields grow in strength.
Webby, frustrated, goes for a tackle. Violet dodges, sees Webby’s matching bracelet and (a quick study) revaluates the situation,
she realizes she is in fact fighting the girl that the author of the diary had been writing about this entire time.
What if Webby summons one last burst of rage to try taking out Magica-in-disguise (who is not Magica, actually, or in disguise) and finally yells the thing that’s been eating her all this time-
Lena only got to know her because of Magica’s plot- she never would have bothered with Webby otherwise- she’s cool and smart and been to Paris- and there was never any way for them to be friends WITHOUT Lena getting hurt
In answer to this, Violet calmly reads a note from the first bottle she ever found on the beach.
“Beagle B-Day. Met cool weirdo & finally having fun. Taking the day OFF. Get rekt aunt M!”
Webby’s anger breaks.
Magica’s magic fades out.
And Webby’s friendship bracelet lights up for the very first time since the shadow war.
“It is my opinion,” Violet says cautiously. “That regardless of what your fears might say, the person who wrote this has always been your friend.”
Webby is crying.
Lena, unfelt, wraps her arms around Webby and glares at Magica’s dropped amulet.
“It is also my opinion that the ectoplasmic activity exhibited by the ‘friendship bracelets’ you both wore is a positive sign that she still exists in some form or another, along with the magical bond between you two.”
"W-what?" Webby sniffles.
"Your theory was correct. She is not gone." Kneeling down, Violet pats Webby on the shoulder. “And using that bond, I intend to help you get her back.”
In the shadow realm, Lena’s beak drops open.
“Really...?” Webby whispers, then frowns suspiciously. “Why?”
(magica had used lena and thrown her away like she was nothing- had SAID she was nothing- and magica hadn't needed her magic for that. if she was using someone again, using lena again as bait...)
but Violet isn't even looking at the amulet.
“I have difficulties in developing interpersonal relationships with non-familial partners.”
Violet admits, holds up her scrap book of Lena’s notes.
“Reading these entries is the closest I have come to replicating the experience of having a friendship with someone other than my fathers, specifically someone within my own peer group. I sympathized with the author’s struggles to recognize and accept her own feelings… In fact, I believe those feelings of camaraderie are the true reason as to why I was able to access the bracelet’s magical powers. The quotes and recitations were merely a memory aid, used to trigger the required emotions of fondness, trust, shared pain, and admiration.”
Shadow Lena turns to Webby. What.
Webby is tearing up again. “You don’t have any friends? And, reading Lena’s diary made you feel less lonely, like maybe she was your friend?”
Ohhh. Shadow Lena looks back at Violet. Oh…
Violet tilts her head. “Who is Lena?”
“The girl who wrote all those messages." Webby is hugging her bracelet to her chest now. "...My best friend.”
“Ah." Looking down at her own bracelet, Lena's bracelet, Violet nods. "Then yes.”
Both bracelets start to glow again softly.
Nether of the girls notice Webby’s shadow stretching out on the ground behind them as it merges silently with Violet’s.
“Or to be more precise," Violet continues, "I feel as though I would like to be friends with her, if possible. And with you.”
“Okay,” Webby scrubs her face dry and smiles for the first time all episode. “..okay. You’ve got your very first non-family friend. One down, one to go! Let’s do this-! Um… what was your name again?”
“Violet Apollonia Sabrewing.”
“Violet! Hi, I’m Webby!”
“Yes, Lena’s diary did mention your name a time or fifty.”
Shadow realm Lena glowers, face pink. It's not like I had anything better to write about! Complaining about being enslaved by my evil aunt gets OLD, okay??
Oblivious, Webby front-flips to her feet and snatches Magica's amulet and holds it aloft.
“Now that we BOTH have a friend to do forbidden stuff with, anything’s possible! Let’s get magical!”
“At the library?”
“AT THE LIBRARY!!!”
Oh great, Lena groans from their shadows, more magic. And now there’s TWO of them.
As boring as nerd stuff is though, she still sits with them in the shadow version of the library anyway, hanging out with her friends who don’t even know she is there.
Not yet, anyway.
And so, in another world, Team Magic is formed.

Can you share a snippet of your writing please? It doesn't have to be from the game but I'm just a bit curious!
Sure! Here's a (very short and completely unedited) flashback scene that I wrote that didn't end up making the final cut. It takes place back when MC was at school so it has a few characters that you won't recognize!
It begins with pain and ends with darkness.
You came back into reality just as you had left it (“Well not exactly as you had left it” the ache in your bones reminds you softly), unsure and exhausted, with the light blinding your unopened eyes. The urge to open them briefly crosses your mind but the thought of having to put actual energy towards anything quickly turned that desire into nothing more than a passing thought.
“You still alive, mate? I don’t have a eulogy written up quite yet so if you could hold out just a bit longer I’d really appreciate it.”
Alistair’s teasing words fall over you like a soothing balm, the familiar sound of his voice sinking into your skin like a long-lost friend. It was admittedly an overdramatic thought if not a ridiculous one - most of the time you and the rest of your friends couldn’t get him to shut the hell up. Still, there was something comforting about the fact that he stayed despite…everything (“despite you” says someone that sounds very much like yourself).
“It happened again, didn’t it?”
A beat passes after your words. Then another one. And one soon after that. Eventually though…
“…yeah, it did. It wasn’t that bad this time though. Nothing got destroyed - nothing that can’t be replaced, that is.”
So you didn’t hurt anyone. That’s always a bonus. Still there were some lingering questions.
“…where’d we end up?”
Another beat, then another voice. Soft and Uncertain. Fearful but Unwaveringly Fond.
“Not too far from the academy, thank the lord. Erm we’ll still need to use a teleportation spell though. One of us can do it for you if you’re not up to it.”
The thought of casting any magicae after what just happened was a (“terrifying” the voice mocks) miserable thought. Still you give a swift shake of your head, forcing your eyes open as you do so. The blue of the sky meets your gaze but a quick series of blinks reveals it to just be Lena's eyes - you knew if you turned to the other side you’d meet the familiar green of Alistair’s. You push yourself up pretending it isn’t odd to think about your friends’ eyes with such intensity.
Lena offers you a shaky but not uncertain (and never ever fearful) hand, and with strength that you’re surprised you still have, you take it gratefully, pulling yourself to your feet - stretching out aching bones and wobbly knees. Alistair grins at you from where he sits nearby, his expression a mix of relief and amusement.
"Welcome back to the land of the living," he says, reaching out to clap you on the shoulder. "Or whatever passes for it, considering the circumstances."
You scoff and then snort. A lurking shadow in the background catches your eye and something like amusement and annoyance stumbles into your bones and out of your lips. Some would call it a laugh. You’d call it an experienced reaction to the person in front of you.
“What, you're not happy to see me? Here I am, spending my very precious time making sure you don’t destroy anything during one of your little fits, and you go ahead and laugh at me. Honestly, where’s the appreciation I deserve?”
Caspian’s voice is arrogant. It’s snarky. It’s even cruel in some ways. But it’s also so loyal. So fond. (“Of you” a voice says softly. It’s the same one as before but it’s also so so different).
You try to think of a witty response but eventually give up, deciding to focus your energy on leaning against Lena for support, the memories of the recent blackout begin to flood back. It was a close call this time, with your magicae threatening to spiral out of control once again. The fear of causing irreversible damage always looms over you like a dark cloud, but having your friends by your side eases the burden, if only slightly. (“But how long can this really last?” the thing you're trying to ignore asks).

for my return to duckblr may i offer my bootleg team magic (which doesnt include umbra/magica but shes here too)
team science here
umbra de mancy / magica = basically the same character / fills the same role as in dt17. wanted her to have an Evil Magical Girl look to spite lena's sorceress outfit.
luna de mancy / lena = also mostly the same character. wanted to lean more into what punk style she already had. i love her arc in dt17, but here she reclaims her shadow magic + never has to reconnect with umbra ever. both she and umbra are ruddy ducks
sunny vanderduck / webby = shares an arc with cherry(huey), and while she still has the same role of having luna realize she deserves to have a good life and isn't a bad person, luna helps her realize that valerie(beakley) isn't the best guardian either...
twilight costa / violet = meets luna + sunny earlier on. outwardly she's mostly the same, but she struggles with feeling connected with other communities. american culture and her heritage, being too weird to one of the smart kids, and too smart to be one of the weird kids, being outcased from the rest of the [junior woodchucks]. but once she finds her place with luna, sunny, and cherry, she opens up her silly side more :)
oliver oca / gladstone: despite getting people to be around him with his luck, he knew he was still alone. never really seeing a point in trying to do things, when he knew his luck would handle it for him. his passivity worsens after the casino, where his efforts didn't help him get out. luckily, someone is looking to fix him... (post-development design. spoilers! he loses his luck. mainly connected to the rest of team magic through umbra, luna, and Rorschach Specter]

Compare/Contrast of Webby Vanderquack and Lena Sabrewing And Luz Noceda and Amity Blight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok. Here I’ll be doing a compare/contrast between Webby Vanderquack and Lena Sabrewing from the DuckTales (2017) TV series and Luz Noceda and Amity Blight from The Owl House TV series. It occurred to me that these 2 duos have quite a bit in common but are also a bit different. Also, Spoiler Alert for the DuckTales (2017) TV series and The Owl House TV series. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both members of both duos used to be on different sides before growing to love each other. As shown in the episode ‘The Beagle Boy Breakout!’, Lena used to work for her aunt Magica De Spell to bring about the end of the McDuck family before, as shown in the episode ‘The Other Bin Of Scrooge McDuck!’, she really grew to love Webby and tried to tell Scrooge about Magica before she took control of her body. And, as shown in the episode ‘I Was A Teenage Abomination’, Amity used to be a bully that Luz helped Willow stand up to before, as shown in the episode ‘Lost In Language’, Luz and Amity teamed up against a monster and grew to love each other. Another similarity between them here is that they used to be on different sides because of an abusive relative. As shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War! Part 1: The Night Of De Spell!’, Lena was a living shadow created and controlled by her aunt Magica to bring about the end of Scrooge McDuck and the McDuck family. As shown in the episode ‘Understanding Willow’, Amity was pressured into turning her back on Willow years ago by her mother and father. The difference between them here is whether or not Webby and Luz knew they were on different sides from the start. As shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War! Part 2: The Day Of The Ducks!’, Webby didn’t know Lena used to work for Magica before finding out later on whereas, as shown in the episode ‘I Was A Teenage Abomination’, Luz knew Amity used to be a bully right from the start. Another similarity between them is that both duos seemed to like each other as more than just friends. After all, in the case of Webby and Lena, they seemed to admire every little thing about each other as shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War! Part 2: The Day Of The Ducks!’ where Webby seemed to really admire the fact that Lena wrote a poem and, as shown in the episode ‘Friendship Hates Magic!’ where Lena seemed to really admire how Webby used her library card. And, in the case of Luz and Amity, as shown in the episode ‘Escaping Expulsion’, they blushed as they were standing back-to-back. The difference between them here is whether or not it was confirmed that they were romantically in love. As shown throughout the DuckTales (2017) TV series, it wasn’t exactly confirmed whether Webby and Lena are in love or not. And, as shown in the episode ‘Knock, Knock, Knockin’ On Hoody’s Door’, it was confirmed that Luz and Amity are in love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both duos have a member who is very optimistic and cheerful. For Webby and Lena, there’s Webby who, as shown in the episode ‘Daytrip Of Doom!’, was incredibly optimistic when it came to hanging out with Huey, Dewey and Louie. And for Luz and Amity, there’s Luz who, as shown in the episode ‘Witches Before Wizards’, Luz was very optimistic and cheerful when it came to being a witch’s apprentice. Also, another similarity between them there is that their optimism paid off in the end when it came to Lena and Amity. As shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War! Part 2: The Day Of The Ducks!’, Webby’s faith in her relationship with Lena caused magic to flow through her Friendship Bracelet that brought Lena back to help fight Magica. And, as shown in the episode ‘Understanding Willow’, Luz’s faith in Amity paid off in the end when Amity befriended Willow again and stopped bullying her. The difference between them is how Webby and Luz respond to authority. Webby seemed used to obeying authority figures as shown in the episode ‘Escape To/From Atlantas!’ where she was baffled when Louie lied to his uncle Donald about where he is whereas Luz seems to rebels against authority as shown in the episode ‘A Lying Witch And A Warden’ where she brought snakes to school. Furthermore, their mentors also shared the same sentiment about authority. As shown in the episode ‘From The Confidential Casefiles Of Agent 22!’, Webby’s grandma Bentina Beakley was a spy who followed protocol. And, as shown in the episode ‘Something Ventured Someone Framed’, Luz’s mentor Edalyn Clawthorne was a rebel who disregards rules.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both duos have a member who was quite cynical and pessimistic. For Webby and Lena, there’s Lena who, as shown in the episode ‘The Beagle Boy Breakout!’, Lena was cynical and pessimistic to the point that she doubted Huey, Dewey and Louie cared about Webby. And, as shown in the episode ‘Lost In Language’, Amity was cynical and pessimistic to the point that she used to think that interacting with Luz would somehow get her in trouble. Also, another similarity between them is that both Lena and Amity had an abusive relative who stood between them and Webby and Luz and who they later stood up to. As shown in the episode ‘Jaw$!’, Lena’s aunt Magica threatened her into going against Webby but, as shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War! Part 2: The Day Of The Ducks!’, Lena later stood up to her and helped the McDuck family take her down. And, as shown in the episode ‘Escaping Expulsion’, Amity was threatened by her mother Odalia into letting Luz, Willow and Gus get expelled from Hexside before later standing up to her and helping Luz, Willow and Gus get accepted back into Hexside. The difference between them is, just like with Webby and Luz, how Lena and Amity respond to authority. Lena doesn’t seem to respect authority figures as shown in the episode ‘Terror Of The Terra-firmians!’ where she argued with Beakley and wanted to go on an adventure whereas Amity seemed to be obsessed with the rules as shown in the episode ‘For The Future’ where Amity said that she kept trying to organize a student council but Principal Bump thought that she was too obsessed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both duos have one member who is a normal being and the other member who is a supernatural being. As shown in the episode ‘The Shadow War! Part 2: The Day Of The Ducks!’, Webby is a normal being while Lena is a living shadow. And, as shown in the episode ‘I Was A Teenage Abomination’, Luz is a normal being while Amity is a witch. The difference between them here is what kind of supernatural being Lena and Amity are. As I already pointed out, Lena is a living shadow whereas Amity is a witch.
Well, that’s all for this post.
See you all next time.

DnDucks 2
Did this again, this time for Lena, Violet, Della and Magica de Spell! Information is under the Read More thing.
I feel like I should do something with these.
Lena Sabrewing
Floating above you is a duck with a luminescent white and blue costume, her eyes and the tips of her front head-feathers gleaming with magical power.
Age: 18 (mentally) Alignment: Chaotic Good Class/Level: Sorcerer 6 (arcane bloodline) Ability Scores: STR 10, DEX 15, CON 14, INT 13, WIS 8, CHA 18
Once the unwilling shadowy servant of Magica de Spell, Lena Sabrewing is an accomplished sorceress and one of the most powerful allies of House McDuck. Specifically, her loyalty is to Webby Vanderquack, with whom she is practically an older sister to. She has eschewed most of the formal titles offered to her, content with having a normal life – or as normal as one’s life can be in Duckland.
Unlike the other characters I’ve discussed, Lena is not a duck – technically, she is what is known as a “fetchling”, a being crafted entirely from shadowstuff. As a fetchling, she has slight resistance to cold and electricity, and she can blend into darkness to become harder to see and hit. She can use her innate shadow magic to weave illusory disguises, though she is loathe to use these abilities, preferring to use magic unrelated to shadow.
As a sorcerer, Lena can use her magic much more often than a wizard or cleric at the cost of a much more limited spellbook. She only has a handful of spells in her repertoire, which she uses in creative and efficient ways, such as flying invisibly in the sky, unnoticed until she rains a shower of magic missiles down on her opponents. She also uses her magic to mess with people when she’s bored – causing object to levitate, turning your house keys invisible, that sort of thing.
Violet Sabrewing
This indigo-feathered warrioress points her crossbow at you from afar, her eyes cold, calculating, yet curious.
Age: 16 Alignment: Neutral Class/Level: Ranger 3/Wizard 1 Ability Scores: STR 12, DEX 17, CON 14, INT 14, WIS 14, CHA 8
Another friend of Webby, Violet is one of the Woodchuck rangers of Duckland, tasked with protecting the natural world from monsters, magic, and all manner of unnatural creations. They eschew the divine magics employed by rangers in other parts of the world, instead relying on their weapon skills, traps, and their allies.
That, however, changed for Violet when she discovered an enchanted amulet, once wielded by the shadow witch Magica de Spell. Through that amulet, she discovered a world of untapped power, and she began fervently researching the arcane, the eldritch, and the unknown. She even discovered a talent for arcane spellcasting, studying as a novice wizard alongside training as a ranger.
Crossbows are Violet’s weapon of choice, and she has learned to use them with incredible efficiency. She can shoot, reload, and shoot a crossbow again faster than most people can blink, and she specialises in taking down the undead. Her magical focus, in fact, is the art of necromancy, which she can use to weaken her foes and control wandering undead.
Della Duck
This dishevelled duck wears a blue scarf and a pilot’s outfit, with a pair of goggles resting on her forehead. Her left leg is a metallic, roughshod contraption.
Age: 42 Alignment: Chaotic Good Class/Level: Fighter 8/Artificer 4 Ability Scores: STR 15, DEX 15, CON 13, INT 15, WIS 8, CHA 15
Della Duck is the twin sister of Donald, mother of the Duck triplets, and a ferociously ambitious adventurer. She was thought dead for many years after an experiment gone awry stranded her on the Astral Plane for ten years. She isn’t quite as reckless as she used to be, having learned from her mistakes, but she hasn’t lost her adventurous edge.
Della is primarily a fighter, accustomed to fighting blade to blade. She no longer fights with her magic sword Asteria, which is now in Dewey’s hands, but with a longspear built from a meteoric metal, gifted to her by a friend she met in the stars. She also has a few levels in artificer – stranded in the Astral Sea, she had to build a rocket to get back home herself, with very little help, and she picked up a few tools of the trade in the process.
Della is not afraid to leap head-first into combat. She eschews the shield in favour of two-handing her spear, using it to knock aside enemy blows and skewer her foes. Her artificer magic allows her to quickly construct magic items or enhance her gear with power, making her a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.
Magica de Spell
Cackling above you, this mad witch sports a midnight black dress and has sickly green feathers. In her hands is a black sceptre, with a glowing violet gem at its tip.
Age: ??? Alignment: Chaotic Evil Class/Level: Sorcerer 18 (shadow bloodline) Ability Scores: STR 8, DEX 14, CON 14, INT 14, WIS 10, CHA 20
One of the most feared enemies of House McDuck, Magica de Spell is an accomplished and deadly sorceress whose speciality is in shadow magic. She can bring shadows to life, conjure impenetrable darkness, step into one shadow and reappear from another… her powers are almost limitless. And there is rumour that she now tries to push the limits of her magic even further, in an attempt to cheat death itself.
Like most arcane spellcasters, Magica relies heavily on her magical abilities to get through combat. She has no martial prowess to speak of, but neither does she need it – few have the opportunity to get close to her before being blasted by shadowy lightning, accosted by shadow monsters, or just simply disintegrated by her magics. Her arrogance is almost always her downfall, underestimating her enemies or lacking the foresight to come up with escape plans beyond just teleporting away.
Her retinue of servants consists primarily of shadowy undead that sap the strength from their victims. Very rarely does she enlist the help of more intelligent or powerful servants, and she never makes an alliance with a fellow sorcerer. She knows full well that, like herself, her peers rarely honour sworn oaths when limitless power is on the line.

This au you formed is amazing 👀 not just bc how you adapted them, but bc you managed to keep their real personalities but in a twisted way 👌
Any au about sidekicks like Lena Vi and Goss?
Thanks very much! And are you asking for the addams au versions of the girls? If so, I can of course provide.
Lena was pulled from Magica's shadow when the sorceress - missing having anyone to talk to while out in the world now that her brother is incapable of conversation - decided to do something about her loneliness, and took a page from Scrooge's book. Magica is Magica though, and wasn't ever going to entertain a gross little toddler, so she makes Lena 15 years old from creation as in canon. Lena leans heavily into her punk aesthetic in this universe, heavy eye makeup and dyed hair and piercings. And she and Magica are stuck in a perpetual loop of back-and-forth banter, gripes and misdemeanors, somehow just barely managing to be a functional unit while on the sorceress's magical errands. Altogether they act a lot like a cranky, hungover parent dragging their moody, apathetic teen out of their gloomy bedroom "for their own good" even though neither of them want to be doing this. There's a lot of "UUUGH"ing and zero traditional affection. It works for them.
Violet isn't changed much, either, simply leaning her bookish and magic-fascinated ways more towards cultist rituals and the eldritch. She's a normal, non-expressive girl with a dark hobby. Nonetheless, she is QUITE taken aback by the deranged nature of Webby and the McDucks at first. She takes her research very seriously, but it hits her quite unexpectedly that she didn't fully GET what her special interest was getting her into until she met Webby and learned it the hard way. That's not to say Violet gives up, she never would. She wants to learn more about forces beyond her understanding and gladly stays friends with Webby. The McDuck lifestyle just... takes more getting used to than she anticipated.
Gosalyn follows this universe's Darkwing's example and takes on a more brutish brute force method of vigilante justice. Gosalyn is a wannabe brawler, too young and inexperienced to be a force true villains would reckon with, but certainly someone other kids try to avoid. When Darkwing takes her in he has to help her focus her fighting on more than beating up bullies on the basketball court with her hockey stick. She's not too fussed about where her hockey stick lands, so long as it's on someone that deserves it.

Frank Angones quotes - Pt. 1
Doing a new ongoing thing where I comment on the online quotes of DuckTales 2017 creator Frank Angones (and sometimes other members of the production crew) about the show... particularly about Gyro and Team Science. (Look at the dates of each quote for more context):
Tumblr media
Naturally, Frank was talking about the then-upcoming episode 'Astro B.O.Y.D.', which released May 2, 2020 as season 3's 6th episode. That is probably one of the most ambitious and high-quality episodes of the series on so many levels: writing, animation, emotion/heart, action, tension, voice-acting! And it's the big- and only- Gyro-centered episode of the series, which finally gave him the backstory and character development he needed, despite it only being a total filler episode and irrelevant to the F.O.W.L./Missing Mysteries storyline (heck, they barely even focused on Gyro's development/growth in the only other two episodes in season 3 he was in- 'Beaks In the Shell', which came out three episodes away from the very last one, and 'The Last Adventure').
Tumblr media
It is AWESOME to know that Frank considered it his favorite episode of season 3 (or at least one of them), despite it being purely filler!! Honestly, I wonder if that's because of the insane amount of anime references they threw in (Astro Boy being the main one, ofc), or because of how well-done and high-quality that episode is on so many levels, or because Gyro was finally given his time to shine and be developed as more than just a joke character whose main thing pre-'Astro B.O.Y.D.' was being a slapstick-prone, arrogant, hardened, wacky mad scientist whose inventions accidentally turned evil all the time, and who nobody took seriously and everybody overlooked. Probably all of the above, and it makes me happy because I'm such a huge Gyro fan.
Tumblr media
BOOOO. Now, GRANTED, Lena's role in season 1 and her development was directly tied into the season's main storyline with Magica's scheme leading up to 'The Shadow War.' Boyd, on the other hand- who was originally meant to be a throwaway character in season 2's 'Happy Birthday, Doofus Drake'- was brought back in season 3's 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' as directly linked to Gyro's past (and present, in the sense that Gyro's past made so hardened, cynical, and seemingly arrogant to mask his secret insecurities). And 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' was purely a filler episode that had no real importance to the main plot of season 3; Boyd didn't even show up again all the way until the finale (and even then, wasn't in it too much; and he and Huey weren't seen interacting once in it)...
Tumblr media
...BUT, here's the thing. Because Boyd became Huey's best friend in 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' (and their bond was so meaningful and so wonderful), that automatically should've elevated Boyd's status closer to the main characters- closer to the Duck family- like both Lena and Violet were because they were Webby's best friends. Those two girls got a good amount of screentime, being so closely associated with Webby. That's why I was so hoping to not only see more of Huey and Boyd's friendship after 'Astro B.O.Y.D.', but also see Boyd become officially part of the kids' group... which, sadly, we didn't see on-screen (although I definitely hc he did become friends and hang out with the rest of them throughout the rest of season 3, even though we didn't actually see it; I don't for a moment believe 'The Last Adventure' was the first time Boyd interacted with all the rest of the kids, except maybe Gosalyn because she lives in St. Canard).

So, how do you think Lena's aging works? On one hand, Frank Angones said on his blog that Lena's only about a year older than Webby (and there's no way Webby is 14) but Shadow War claims Lena was created 15 years before that episode. My take is that Lena was stuck physically being 12-13 (which could work as being a year older than Webby in a physical sense if you see Webby as 11 when the show began) and only began aging naturally when brought back to life in Friendship Hates Magic. Your take?
This is an interesting philosophical question when it comes to characters like these in sci fi and fantasy in general. On the one hand we have Lena who was made fully formed at a specific age but other than a few choice memories given to her from Magica so Lena can function convincingly as a person, is she really the age she looks or does she become that age after living that long? We know that she wondered around and had experiences (one of which being her going to and taking a punk rock band leader’s shirt which she’s wearing) so are these new experiences unique to her as her own person separate from the memories implanted in her mind at creation or just something to help sell her story to others? It could be possible that she remained forever young due to Magica’s spell and that now that Lena has her own magic and is severed from Magica that Lena could start to age naturally if she hasn’t already done so by reaching past the age she was created at (I.e. if she’s 15 biological but has only lived for 13 years then she’d start aging in 2 more years as an example). Lena being made 15 years ago would be a little bit before Beakley found and adopted Webby so in a technical sense if we go off of learned experiences then they’re not far behind in terms of an age gap, while Lena had a head start in that she didn’t have to go from being a baby to toddler to kid to tween to teen, she still had to learn about the world that wasn’t from what her creator already gave her knowledge of. She and Webby are kind of a mutation of the “Born Yesterday” trope but just barely, whereas Lena has lived and knows things and Webby knows things but hasn’t lived, Lena has been so strangled by Magica that she doesn’t know what real friendship is like meanwhile Webby was so sheltered that she didn’t know what the outside world was like and was super friendly to others as a way to learn more about this world she’d been missing.
Time displacement characters and stories are always fascinating to explore and it’s very likely not even considered by the writer unless it’s a major point to said character.

Can you please tell me more of your Villian¡Scrooge AU??
Abso-freaking-lutely!! I can ramble about this ALL DAY LONG so THANK YOU SO MUCH
I'm hesitant to spoil too much but I will say the following
So you know how after Della left, Scrooge got very lonely and depressed? Well, I feel like he only stayed sane cause Beakley and Webby were there. The more I thought about it the more I realised that they were probably the ONLY thing stopping him from losing it entirely
So then I asked myself, well, what happens if Beakley decided she didn't want Webby being raised in a house of chaos like this? She leaves too, and with Duckworth dead by now too, Scrooge is totally alone. And loneliness does strange things to people...
As well as this, I have to think about how he would ACTUALLY be evil. You see, most villains do what they do in the pursuit of power, or riches. Scrooge is already the richest duck in the world - so he has to move into a phase of villainy that most bad-guy types get thwarted before they even get the chance to think about it: maintaining that power through intimidation.
Now obviously it's a fairly easy job. He's been rich af for about as long as anyone can remember, so there's no real unrest. A bit of grumbling at taxes being raised, here and there, but nothing that screams "Vive la revolution" quite yet. No, no, the people Scrooge really has to worry about are the ones who already hate him. Glomgold. Magica. The Beagles.
Now, here's how some things will inevitably diverge from canon, simply by the fact that Donald and the kids don't show up when they would have in the show.
Because Webby's gone, Lena never gains her trust and entry to the mansion, so Magica never gets Scrooge's Number One Dime, and the Shadow War doesn't happen. The lunar eclipse comes and goes, and we have one VERY ticked-off evil sorceress stuck in the shadow realm.
Moonvasion still happens because ultimately the goings-on of Earth had exactly nothing to do with Lunaris's plans. The moon invades, but Scrooge has to use some good ole fashioned reverse psychology and manipulation on Zeus to convince him to let Storkules and Selene help deal with the invasion. No weird Glomgold scheme, just the Goddess of the Moon handling things as she should.
Not quite sure what I'm doing with the FOWL plotline from Season 3 but I will cross that bridge L A T E R
But I do have parts of the first chapter written so hopefully I can get something posted soon!

If You Liked Lumity 2
Thanks so @sherry-a-h for giving me the idea.
And what an idea it is. I've only done this one other time, but that was to replace the previous post not add to it. But this time I am.
It's been some time since I made the previous post and a lot has happened. Not only in the show, but out of it as well. And since lumity has been canon for a little while, I don't have to go into another in-depth look at what lumity is because we can see it for ourselves.
However,
This time instead of finding ships that have similar stories and dynamics (like White Rose and Diakko) we're going more with ships that have the same spirit as lumity or something adjacent to it. Not exactly lumity, but you'll still have fun.
Sunset Shimmer & (Sci)Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony: Equestria Girls
Tumblr media
I've talked about these two in my other blog so I'll try to keep it brief.
Equestria Girls is a Friendship is Magic spin-off where there's a portal to another world where the ponies become girls. Sunset Shimmer left the pony world in pursuit of power but was shown the magic of friendship by Twilight Sparkle. In another movie, she meets the alternate version of Twilight Sparkle that the fans call Sci-Twi for Science Twilight Sparkle.
The two are at odds at first. Sci-Twi wants to study magic, and Sunset Shimmer wants to protect her friends from forces Sci-Twi doesn't understand. When Sci-Twi uses magic to transform to Midnight Sparkle, Sunset Shimmer is the one that turns her back to normal and takes her under her wing. The two become inseparable after that with Sunset Shimmer even being a bit protective of her new friend.

Webby & Lena from Ducktales (2017)
Tumblr media
Now for something a little more recent. Sorta.
When Webby and Lena first met, Webby thought that Lena was just some cool older kid. Turns out, Lena is actually the living shadow of Magica DeSpell. Cartoons are weird. Even so, the two quickly bonded with Lena even turning on Magica to protect Webby. Webby then did all the research she could to restore Lena from the shadow realm.
After Lena's restoration, Webby always assured Lena that she was good and good enough. And Lena would try to master her powers to protect Webby from magical threats. Webby even has Luz's complimenting powers: "you beautiful idiot" "you snoring angel"
Check out this ship if you like: redemption arcs, street smart/book smart couples, friends to lovers, compliments
Molly and Libby from The Ghost and Molly McGee
Tumblr media
And for the newest ship.
After moving to Brighton and being cursed by a ghost, Molly McGee decides that as much as she loves her new ghost friend she also wants a human best friend. So Molly goes on a camping trip with a few girls from her school and even though they all have good qualities, Libby is the only one who has that X-factor Molly is looking for. Libby asks if they wanna be friends and it goes from there.
Molly and Libby hang out together and through mishaps learn more about each other. Eventually, they get so close that Molly has to tell Libby about her ghost friend Scratch to save their friendship.
Libby loves hanging out with Molly and can even tell when something is bother her, even if she won't tell her. Molly also loves Libby and is seen to be very important to her, especially in the visuals of the song "It's a Lose-Lose,"
Check this ship out if you like: In love with my best friend, ball of sunshine/ball of anxiety couples, dork couples, stealing glances

Thanks for reading. Let me know what ships you life if you like Lumity or whatever. Or don't. I'm not the boss of you.

For the character ask game: 17 18 20 23 29 for
Tumblr media
17. What do you think their first word was?
I think that because she was created as a teenager, she had the ability to speak pretty early. Maybe not immediately, but it wouldn't have been too long. Honestly it was probably something mundane and boring like "where am I?" or "how did I get here?" or "why am I at this volcano what the heck is going on?"
[Insert confusion gif from Nightmare on Killmotor Hill]
18. How do you think they were as a kid? (Like, were they shy, noisy, wild, etc)
The show depicts her as being more controlled by Magica as Season 1 progresses and the eclipse gets closer. I'm thinking that she had very little physical control over Lena early on, but a lot of mental/emotional control as sort of Lena's parental figure. Until of course, she developed her more edgy rebellious persona and stopped caring about what Magica thought or said.
There was a time in the middle when Lena wasn't really influenced much by Magica physically or emotionally. It didn't last very long, but it was neat. She was pretty chill, and kinda just did her own thing. But, she knew she could never really leave Magica behind, so she was never too bold. Never really able to form relationships because she tried to never be in one place too often... besides the theater of course, because no one else was ever there.
20. A weird headcanon
Maybe not super out there but it's what came to mind. I've decided that the Featherweights concert Lena talked about in her debut wasn't a lie, but was actually the only time she's ever been able to leave Duckburg. That's why she wears the sweater all the time, and the band has a super special place in her heart.
As for the boarding school bits and any other nonsense with her backstory, that's just a fake backstory to keep people from figuring out she's actually lived in an abandoned theater with her shadow aunt for the past 15 years. But the Featherweights concert story is real.
23. Future headcanon
Lena dabbles with the idea of being a superhero type, mostly at the urge of Team Magic. It's not like Duckburg is lacking in that department already, but some things are just better handled by a super sorceress.
She thinks that actual superheroes are weird and corny, but the work they do is for a good cause so maybe it's all worth it. Especially when she can get some entertainment out of them making themselves look like dorks at the same time.
29. How do you think they would be as a parent? (and if they are a parent, how do you think they would be if they weren't?)
Lena hates kids. They are just so annoying all the time. People are so annoying with them. This might be one of the only opinions that she and Magica would agree on.
That being said, if she found a lost kitten, she would absolutely protect it with her life. That's her baby. Plus, as soon as Webby found out, she would never be allowed to get rid of it even if she wanted to.
Thanks for the ask!

Parallels between the 79 A.D. eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, and Lena.
Tumblr media
(includes speculation on the connection between her personal magic, the diamond bladed dagger, and the volcano she was born on)
In Regards To How Lena’s Life Happens To Resemble An Exploding Volcano-
Tumblr media
In order to get the number one dime, Lena “forges” a Vesuvian diamond dagger, as stated by Magica.
(NOTE) The dagger’s blade is pale blue and bright.
Vesuvian refers to Mt. Vesuvius, the volcano.
Mount Vesuvius is where Magica attempted to trap Scrooge in his number one dime during a lunar eclipse, but was trapped herself instead, except for her shadow.
Magica then “cast a spy from her shadow” which became Lena.
Lena was created on Mt. Vesuvius.
Lena is described as a “shadow creature” or “shadow” by Magica.
Magica’s signature magic skill is the control and manipulation of shadows.
Despite being a shadow, created to do Magica's bidding, Lena forms her own personality and goals.
Her personal goal becomes freeing herself from Magica.
To do this, Magica tells her to steal the number one dime of Scrooge McDuck.
Lena also turns out to be a sorceress.
(NOTE) Lena’s personal magic, as a sorceress, is pale blue and bright.
She first activates her magic with Webby during the episode JAW$.
The JAW$ episode is when Lena and Magica find out that Scrooge keeps his number one dime worn around his neck.
The next episode to feature Lena is The Other Bin Of Scrooge McDuck.
The Other Bin of Scrooge McDuck opens with Lena, already having forged the Vesuvian diamond dagger on Magica’s orders, using it to saw through the uncuttable, enchanted quadraimond filament tying Scrooges dime to him while he sleeps.
(NOTE) Scrooge becomes suspicious when he discovers the filament to be damaged because anything that could do that “would have to be supernatural”.
(NOTE) Since the dagger was used specifically for cutting free the dime, Lena presumably “forged” it after the episode JAW$.
(NOTE) (LAST ONE I PROMISE)  If Lena forged the dagger after JAW$, she would have already had her own personal magic while doing so, even if she was unaware of it.
The fraying of the quadraimond filament prompts Scrooge to store his dime in the other bin.
At Magica's insistence, Lena convinces Webby to go to the other bin and look for the dime.
While there, Lena encounters an enchanted dream catcher that forces her to live her worst nightmare, namely, being outed for her deception to Webby and then watching Webby die.
Waking up from this, Lena decides to leave the other bin without the dime.
When Magica insists they continue with the plan to get the dime, Lena refuses, choosing to give up her clearest chance of freedom by trying to inform Scrooge of Magica presence, despite the danger that would pose to Lena herself.
However, the closeness of the eclipse allows Magica to forcibly take over Lena's body instead.
(NOTE) (IM SORRY I LIED) None of this would have happened if Lena had not made the Vesuvian dagger and damaged the quadiamond filament with it.
Magica uses the term “forge” for Lena’s creation of the Vesuvian diamond dagger, instead of “create” or “craft”, despite the dagger having a crystal blade that would likely not normally be created by traditional smithing means.
Lena’s own skill set runs more towards deception and cunning, and yet she did not “find” or “steal” the dagger either.
However, if magic relies on connections between things to draw its power (a shadow sorceress being her most strong one a night when the last remaining large source of light, the moon, is shadowed by an eclipse), then “forging” a Vesuvian diamond dagger would also make logical sense.
Old records of Mount Vesuvius’ most famous eruption, which destroyed (among other things) the cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii, claimed (possibly for dramatic irony) that the disaster began on the 24th of August, the day after the festival of Vulcanalia.
Vulcanalia was a day to celebrate and sacrifice to the Roman god Vulcan.
Vulcan, in common Roman mythology, was the god of fire, including the fires of volcanos and forges.
While Vulcan was commonly depicted with a smith’s hammer, worship of him was often more focused on the destructive powers of fire, and appealing to Vulcan for protection from those dangers.
Conclusion:
In much the same way the people of doomed Herculaneum and Pompeii are said to have sacrificed to Vulcan the day before they were buried in the fires of Mount Vesuvius, Lena forges the Vesuvian dagger hoping it will lead to her being freed from her aunt, only for its use to start a chain reaction that led to Lena’s very body being taken over and possessed by the shadow of Magica De Spell.
Which, I would say, certainly fulfills the criteria for both irony and drama.
In Regards To Lena’s Magic, The Dagger, And Mount Vesuvius
As previously noted, both the Vesuvian diamond dagger and Lena’s personal sorceress magic share the same basic color and appearance (bright, pale blue).
This despite Magica being the one who “cast” Lena “from her shadow”, and Magica’s own magical color being purple.
Lena and the dagger were also either created on, or possibly with, materials from Mount Vesuvius.
Speculation:
Either Lena and the Vesuvian diamond dagger both get their supernatural powers from Mount Vesuvius
or
The Vesuvian diamond dagger was imbued with Lena’s personal magic before she even knew she had magic to imbue it with.
Questions That Remain!
1.) If both the Vesuvian dagger and Lena’s magic come from Mt. Vesuvius, then what (if any) is the connection between Mt. Vesuvius (and or Vulcan) and the color pale blue?
2.) If Lena’s magic and the dagger don’t get their power from Mt. Vesuvius, then why IS Lena’s magic blue, instead of some shade of purple like Magica’s?
3.) Is it coincidence that Lena’s name is often a short form of Helena, and through it, has the possible meaning of “Bright” “Shining” or “Torch”?
-
Lena: Nope. I picked it just to annoyed Magica.
Webby: Ooooh!
Violet: That does seem perfectly in keeping with your sardonic natural.
Webby: I think it’s sweet!
Lena: I’m a shadow named “light”. It’s soooo dumb. But like, it was the first thing that was mine, you know? Sentimental value and whatever. Rebel, resist, blah blah blah.
Webby: You’re an utterly beautiful rebel, Lena.
Violet: And on that note, perhaps this presentation should come to an end, before Webbigail strays onto the topic of-
Webby: OH OH I HAVE A SLIDE SHOW OF YOU BEING BEAUTIFUL AND REBELLIOUS!!!!
Lena: A slide show? Of me?
Violet: Alas.
Lena: Webby wait, when you say slide show, do mean like hand-drawn stuff not admissible in court or actual-
Webby: I HAVE ACTUAL PICTURES!
Lena: Of me-
Webby: Breaking and entering, petty theft, trespassing, defacing public and private property, also that one time with the soda pop machine-
Lena: You kept evidence of that stuff?!
Webby: And mementos!
Lena: You kept physical evidence linking me to that stuff!?!
Violet: I am ending this now, before my sister further incriminates herself.
Webby: WAIT
WAIT WAIT WAIT !!!
IF LENA’S NAME WAS THE FIRST THING SHE HAD THAT WAS COMPLETELY HERS-
AND HER NAME MEANS “SHINING”
AND SHE ONLY DISCOVERED HER MAGIC BY EXPLORING WHO SHE IS OUTSIDE OF MAGICA’S INFLUENCE-
THEN MAYBE THAT’S WHY HER MAGIC IS “BRIGHT”!!!
Violet: Self-actualization beyond her enforced identity solely as a shadow as a source of supernatural powers capable of allowing her to exist outside of the Shadow Realm, which then manifested in a way that symbolizes her first foray into independence from the constraints placed upon her?
Lena: What.
Webby: YES!
Violet: Brilliant.
Webby: I LIKE THE WORD “BRIGHT” BETTER BUT “BRILLIANT” WORKS TOO I GUESS!!!
Lena: She means you, Webby.
Webby: OH.

How Friendship Hates Magic would go in my “HDLW grow up with their Duck Cousins counterparts” AU (It is recommended that you read What Ever Happened to Della Duck (link to post), The Golden Spear (link to post), and Nothing Can Stop Della Duck (link to post) first for the Webby introductions because she is in this one):
The episode starts with Dewey taking Webby to the library •  When discussing their lives the Shadow Wars (Part 1, Part 2) were brought up and Dewey told her about Lena and how she had become a shadow and he showed her the books he had gotten to research ways to bring her back •  Webby asked if she could help him and he immediately agreed because he rarely gets to spend time with kids his age
Neither of them notices that Dewey’s shadow seems to have glowing eyes on occasion
Lena follows them around, boredly narrating Dewey’s routine although clearly bothered by the fact that Webby’s there now •  She makes several vague threats of what will happen if Webby is lying about who she is and where she’s been and tries to hurt Dewey since they were practically like brother and sister before she got banished to the shadow realm, but of course neither of the younger ducks can hear her •  Important Note: Lena and Dewey are 1000000% platonic in this, they see each other more as siblings. Any jealousy Lena shows towards Webby and Violet in this is purely because she doesn’t want them taking her place as Dewey’s best friend. He was her first friend and the first person to show her that how Magica treated her was wrong so she’s a bit possessive. Same reason for why she’s possessive of Webby in the show (although I know some people view them as romantic which is why I’m making it clear that here she and Dewey are platonic)
They go to ask for the book, finding Quackfaster working there, and Lena attempts to convince herself Dewey that she’ll be fine in the shadow realm
Quackfaster says they can’t have the book since someone else has already checked it out and points them to a purple hummingbird sitting at a nearby desk
Webby, without hesitation, goes to try and introduce herself only to be stopped by the girl putting up her hand, finishing her page, and finally putting the book down to see what Webby wants
She points out that the book is written in Ancient Syriac and might be a little advanced
To which the girl responds with “So am I,” in perfect Ancient Syriac
Dewey gasps and runs over and, in Ancient Syriac says, “You speak Ancient Syriac? Me, too! Along with Conversational Akkadian.” •  Scrooge and Beakley had several old language books laying around and Dewey was barely allowed out of the manor for the first ten years of his life so he had a lot of time to pick up the languages •  Although, his speech is slightly less coherent that Webby’s is in the show
The girl confirms she knows it and pulls out some old Norse and Dewey responds in kind
Webby jumps in with, “I know some Moon Landrian!” and gets some confused looks before the other girl just nods, and stands to introduce herself to Dewey and Webby •  I don’t know if the Moon Landers have a language in the show or what it’s called so I’ve decided they do and it’s Moon Landrian
Violet instantly recognizes Dewey as Turbo Dewford Duck of McDuck Manor, trusted companion in many of Scrooge McDuck’s adventures and his great nephew to boot
Dewey instantly confirms and asks if she’s a fan before remembering Webby and introducing her as, “Webbigail Vanderquack of McDuck Manor, trusted companion of his mother Della Duck while on the moon.
”Webby tacks on “Granddaughter of the Housekeeper.” at the end
Lena is immediately suspicious and wants to just grab the book and go, and is only made more suspicious when Violet starts asking about Dewey’s experiences with the supernatural
Lena is especially not happy when they end up planning a sleepover
Beakley is glad for a quiet night in with her tea when Webby and Dewey come bouncing into the dining room to tell her all about their sleepover
She’s happy that Dewey is getting back onto the friendship horse and that both of them are making more friends outside of each other
She’s especially impressed given how Dewey’s previous sleepovers have ended in magic fights
Dewey start to get nervous and Lena hopes that he’ll reconsider and cancel the sleepover with Violet, but Webby says that those sound awesome but she’s sure it will totally be fine this time and they’ll just make sure it’s a completely normal sleepover
She then immediately asks what a normal sleepover entails leading to Dewey panicking and deciding that they need to hide anything mystical, cursed, or adventurous
Beakley assures them that they should just be themselves, and Dewey says that unlike her they need friends •  This leads to the Beakley and Launchpad subplot that I’m not going to cover since it’s essentially the same and also it’s been half an hour since I started and I’m barely five minutes into the episode
Webby and Dewey finished hiding anything strange in Dewey’s room in the attic when they hear the doorbell and rush to get it before Ducksworth because, Ghost Butler
They invite Violet in and Webby is very interested in the pie (she grew up on black licorice gum), Lena however thinks Violet is up to something
When they get to Dewey’s, very empty, room Violet tells them about Tulpas •  “Manifestations of powerful emotions–hatred, jealousy, greed. They live in a dark realm adjacent to our reality.”
She explains that it’s the best explanation she has for what happened during the Shadow War
Dewey quickly interrupts and suggests they play Baggle
Violet points out that she’s here to review the book and Webby points out that they have plenty of time for books and they should play a game or do icebreakers since it’s a sleepover
Violet agrees and instantly asks what they know about Magica DeSpell and the Shadow War
Lena takes Violet asking about Magica as proof she can’t be trusted, but Dewey suggests makeovers to change the subject
Violet points out his weird behavior when it comes to the supernatural and Dewey grabs both of their hands and says that they have sparkles which gets Webby excited enough to help pull Violet along with them for the makeovers
When they leave Lena finds Magica’s amulet in Violets bag and runs to warn Dewey
She finds the three of them doing special effects makeup •  Violet and Webby have their Rakshasa and beaten up looks from the show, Dewey has a sort of zombie thing going on (I honestly don’t know so if anyone else has any ideas for his look let me know)
Violet says she thinks her fangs are off-kilter and Dewey says it’s because he has a crooked fang from a poker brawl and he has proof before realizing he said to much
Violet asks where and Webby panics and says “definitely not in the attic” •  Unfortunately Lena starts to wonder if Webby meant to say that and is actually working with Violet because why would she share her secrets
Violet runs off towards the attic and Dewey and Webby follow with Lena protesting that it’s a trap
Webby asks if Violet is weirded out by all the magical stuff but Violet says it’s fascinating and that she thinks there’s an ectoplasmic aura coming from Dewey’s friendship bracelet
Lena sees Violet touching it and runs over to try and push her hand away but of course she just falls right through them
Dewey quickly assures her that it’s nothing and takes the bracelet off and hides it in his pocket
Violet, Webby, and Dewey decide to play Rune-Baggle and Lena decides to try to use the runes to communicate with Dewey
After Violet repeats an incantation causing the runes to glow Lena attempts to hit them across the room and is shocked to find that it works
Dewey suggests it was nothing but the runes start to move as Lena arranges them
Violet tries to read the runes but Dewey isn’t as quick to jump to that, only moving to translate when Webby asks him about certain parts
Lena is very frustrated and starts thinking that Violet and Webby are either intentionally trying to distract Dewey from the obvious “Don’t Trust Her” message or they’re just giants nerds
Violet has the three of them kneel and hold hands which only makes Lena more upset
However Lena is quickly distracted by spirits beginning to form
She grabs a sheet and tries to use that to communicate but they can’t hear her and assume that she’s an evil spirit summoned by them
Violet tries to attack but is thrown off and into her bag, knocking the amulet free while Lena tries to get Dewey to see what's happening
Violet shoots magic at Lena and reveals her for just long enough for her to call out Dewey’s name
He sees Violet with the amulet  and tackles her to demand to know where she got it
Violet explains how she found it during the Shadow War and how it sparked an interest in the supernatural
She’s asks if they’ve ever felt sheltered when there was something just out of reach and Dewey and Webby each think back to their lonely childhoods spent listening to the stories of the incredible feats that their guardians did before they were born
Lena isn’t happy that Dewey is buying Violet’s spiel but Dewey just tells her not to mess with the amulet since he’s already lost one friend to the Shadow Realm
Webby puts a hand on his shoulder in an effort to comfort and Lena puts one on the hand holding the amulet
Violet suggests that they might be able to bring Lena back using Magica’s amulet
Dewey and Webby agree to try it after a quick shared glance
The trio set up candles for the ritual and sit in the middle of them holding hands with the amulet between them
Lena tries to tell Dewey that Violet’s using him, and she should know, but the amulet starts to levitate and flies into her chest as more spirits form and take the shape of Magica, taunting her
The spirits surround the trio and Lena panics and grabs their joined hands in an attempt to warn Dewey that it’s a trap
The three are pulled into the Shadow Realm and Dewey tackles Lena into a hug when he sees her
Unfortunately Violet and Webby have to break up the reunion on account of all the Tulpas in the form of Magica drawing nearer
Dewey pulls away to try to introduce Lena to the other two but Lena interrupts and accuses them both of being spies and thieves and trying to replace her while the Tulpas surround them
Lena tells Violet and Webby to get away from Dewey only for the Tulpas to take Lena’s form and drag Dewey away from them
Lena, Violet, and Webby run after them and Lena blames Violet, saying that if she hadn’t meddled with magic Dewey would still be safe
Violet points out that the Tulpas are manifestations of great desire to which Lena says it’s Violet’s desire for magical power
Violet shoots back that it could be Lena’s desire not to be forgotten by Dewey and that the Tulpas took Lena’s form
A Tulpa attacks them and Violet says that they’re manifestations of Lena’s jealousy and want to keep Dewey with her
Lena admits that might be the case but tries to keep arguing only for Webby to interject with the fact that even if they have nothing in common they do all care about Dewey, just as he calls for help
Lena and Violet call a truce to chase after him with Webby
The Tulpas try to take him out the door and Violets says that if he leaves the manor they might never get him back
Lena says not on her watch and grabs Violet and Webby’s hands
She begins an incantation:                     “With the hands of my friend’s friends,                      We bring bitter jealousy to its ends.”
The amulet seems to glow in Lena’s chest and Violet and Webby join in and the three walk towards Dewey and the Tulpas as the Shadow Realm seems to fade into the normal world behind them
Dewey’s bracelet starts to glow in his pocket and causes the Shadow Realm to dissipate behind him as well
As the realm fades away it starts to take Lena with it
Dewey starts to tear up and Lena grabs his hand
He reaches out to Violet and Webby and the four join hands and are surrounded by a blue glow as the bracelet rises from Dewey’s pocket and circles them, creating blue smoke clouds
When the smoke dissipates Lena is standing there, back in her normal form and Dewey pulls them all into a group hug
The four return to their sleepover as Lena explains where she’s been
Dewey says that he’s got his old best friend and his new best friends, Webby says they’ve got pie •  The poor girl grew up on black licorice gum she deserves to get excited over pie. And yes, I know I’m the reason she grew up on it, shut up.
I spent nearly two hours on this Jesus Christ. So, the first post I ever made for this AU was made August 1st, 2020, so nearly three years ago. And the post I made for how The House of the Lucky Gander went (link to post) was made August 12th, 2020, so also nearly three years ago and I’ve left them on a cliffhanger for that whole time, but now I only have to get through What Ever Happened to Donald Duck before I can finally do [REDACTED] and I am very excited for both of those things so I am going to try to get there before August 12th this year so you all can finally learn what happened to Louie and Gladstone. I’d also like to do Doomsday Vault sometime since that episode would be extremely different since I left Della on the moon. I am genuinely sorry that it’s taken this long to get here, but as I’ve stated in a previous post the “how __________ would go in my HDLW grow up with their Duck Cousins counterparts AU would go” post take insanely long and a lot of energy because I watch the whole episode and pause for bullet points so that I don’t miss anything. Also, if you are someone who sent me an ask god knows how long ago, I’ve seen it, I know it’s there, I just didn’t have the energy to answer it when I got it and by the time that I did have the energy I had forgotten about them. Hopefully I’ll be able to go through and answer as many asks as I can. And if anyone wants to send me one now, feel free to but it might take me some time to get to it depending on the question.

Lena!!!
She's amazing!!! Such a compelling character! Being the first kid character introduced outside of the child protagonists I feel like she's definitely the strongest (no offense to the rest of the kiddos but i do think the crew might have run out of unique child archetypes after lena lol) and her narrative with Magica is both a very compelling storyline to introduce her and a great way to bring Magica into this version of the story. Her dynamics with everyone were so good and I would have loved to see her interact with more characters 🥺🥺🥺
Should probably talk about her design since I put BOTH that she's cool looking and not lol. I like her designs!!! I think she's rlly cute!!! But also I have an overly specific gripe about her main design it's just..... her shoes. Dt17 got me really into limited color palettes for characters and the green is just so out there from the rest of her design?? Like,, I imagine it's something along the lines of her just grabbing whatever she could find and the color is probably meant to link her back to Magica? Could be totally missing the mark on that but that's how I've been reading it. If that's the case they work really well but they just throw me off a lil, I would've loved to see her get like purple sneakers after she becomes a Sabrewing or something. And her sorceress design. I quite like it honestly. I love the fact that in her main outfit her blue shirt (friendship and her magic and maybe just her identity in general?) is mostly covered by a dark sweater (shadow and magica, general darkness) but in her sorceress form it's ALL blue and white. Also her hair is so cute!! Something about the way they animated her in Phantom and the Sorceress made it look kinda clunky?? But when she transforms in the finale she looks great. I think it's something about the way they drew the eyes and her shoulder pads? but idk
She's great she deserves the world Team Magic spinoff when

Writing wip. In case i die of no more motivation
---
The night was cold, autumn leaves swaying in the wind. Lena stood on the porch of the house that belonged to the Sabrewings.
It also belonged to her. Even after almost a year of living with them-as their adopted daughter no less-she still had to remind herself sometimes that she too was a part of the family.
The sun had only just set minutes ago. Ty was still checking test papers at school, Indy was in his office, and Violet was at the library. All three of them would be home soon, ready to greet Lena.
And she'd greet them back, asking how was their day. Indy would cook chicken curry for dinner (Lena loved how he made it), they'd all talk at the table, and after that Violet would probably tell the pink-haired teen about a new fact about ancient civilization customs, or something of the sort. It would be a typical, completely mundane day.
She exhaled and stared at the moon. It was completely clear this night, no clouds in its way as it stared back at her.
November 20th.
It was the day Scrooge Mcduck and her aunt (she hated how she still referred to that woman as that term) Magica fought on Mt. Vesuvius.
The day where Scrooge defeated the sorceress and trapped her in his number one dime.
And, the day where in a last-minute effort, she brought life to her own shadow, giving it the mission to bring her back one day.
The day Lena De Spell became completely sentient for the first time.
