SYNOPSIS:
You only had one desire— and that was for the bard you adore and the Anemo Archon you met and desire to come home... Even if you had to waste everything to get him. (gen. neutral reader)
TRIGGER WARNING/S:
Angst for a little bit then turns to comfort ; Venti is a little shit ; reader's appearance, name, and identity isn't specified (they're addressed as the traveler) ; hurt/comfort is real y'all
Tumblr media
Standing in front of the banner in the wishing realm, they carried the primogems they've saved up for months. They were told that they'd have the opportunity to finally summon someone in her team. Though, it depends on their luck- as it always has been.
Setting the barrels worth of gems, they focused their sights onto the banner. The traveler ignored the other three, that having being focused on weapons, standard banner (with most of the people known in Teyvat involved, surprisingly), and Kamisato Ayato.
No, they focused on one in particular.
Venti.
Taking a deep breath, they grabbed the first crate full of primogems, brows furrowing in determination. “I'll make sure to honor your wish to travel with me, Venti,” they began, letting the primogems form into intertwined fates. “And that starts with getting you on my party with me.”
The intertwined fates flew up to the sky as more began to fade, only to rain down in blues and purples. They began to fall into arcs, some higher than others as it all crashed down at the end.
Though, this didn't stop them as they ran to where they were flying off, eyes focused on the target. The traveler didn't want to waste the only opportunity to see if their wish would be granted.
They wanted him along in their team...
... Even if it meant losing everything to get him. In
The intertwined fates fell down rapidly by number, accumulating into weapons. Some even had a few familiar faces, and some turned into constellations that flew off to their respective owners. The traveler greeted those that came home and didn't knew them, saying that they can stay and see if more come by.
Then, it all comes down to the final wish.
The traveler lifted the last wish in their palms, and their brows furrowed out of worry. So far, they hadn't seen signs of him coming, and they were worried that he wasn't going to come and fulfill their promise.
... The promise of traveling alongside each other to fulfill the mission they have of this world.
Thoma seem confused when the traveler lowered their hands, a look of conflict resting in their eyes. “Hey, what's wrong?” he asked, placing a hand on their shoulder. “Aren't you going to get him?”
“I want to, but...”
They paused, glancing at the attempts with a heavy sigh. “I don't know if I can do it. I've done as much as I can to get him, but now...”
“I'm sure Venti will come home,” Barbara interjected, her cheery tone echoing the whole area. “He wouldn't just let us down! I'm sure he's just waiting for that one last wish!”
“Well, if it helps, I can always stay really far back so my luck doesn't affect you!” suggested Bennett, nodding enthusiastically at Barbara's words. “We can't give up now!”
“You've clearly got at least most of us,” Rosaria, who was staying at the back, sighed as she messed with her dagger. “If anything, giving up here and now would just waste whatever efforts you put into with getting this much fates for him. A waste if you ask me.”
“Sister Rosaria!”
“What? I'm just being honest.”
“.. Hah, I guess Rosaria's right.”
Lifting the last wish, they watched as it glowed and flew off into the sky. “The only thing we can do is just pray its Venti. If its not, I guess I'll settle with what I have.”
But what shocked them was the fact the light glow... Gold.
The traveler began to run towards the light, eyes widening as it was staying gold. It was already falling down to the receiving end of the arena, and they couldn't help but feel excited— was it true? Did they won against all odds?
Will their wish be granted?
Reaching the end, a bright light surrounded the arena, and they couldn't help but lift their arms up to cover their eyes. Trying to squint to see who it was, the traveler lowered them when they saw it dying down, their focus set on who came to answer the final fate.
...
But the sight of who it was shattered their heart.
The bright smile they had fell when they saw that it was...
... Jean Gunnhildr, the Acting Grandmaster of Mondstadt, that answered their final fate.
“... Ah, traveler,” she began, a bit surprised to see them. Though, the latter couldn't help but smile, albeit it was a bit... Forced.
That.. Was their last wish.
And their wish to travel with the bard was left unanswered.
“Hello.. Jean,” they answered, their eyes drifting to the ground. The painful prick of denial and dejection hit the traveler's heart, and they could feel the weight of disappointment rest on their shoulders.
“...”
Jean walked over to the latter, her gaze sympathetic. “You don't look happy to see me,” she spoke, chuckling. “Were you wishing for... Venti, perhaps?”
“Ah—?”
The traveler paused, brows furrowed before they let out a pained chuckle. Although they tried to mask how they felt, they knew Jean wasn't stupid. They wouldn't be able to lie to her like that, anyway.
“... Yeah. I guess you can say that,” the traveler answered, letting out a soft hum. “But it's okay! We all can't have the things we want, and I'm really happy to see you myself Jea—”
“No need to lie to me, traveler,” she interjected, sighing. “You clearly look sad when you saw it was me, you know.”
“But—”
“I'm not taking any rebuttals. Admit it.”
“... Ugh. Why are you so perceptive?”
“Well, you're rather easy to read, traveler,” she chuckled, a hint of amusement evident on her face. “Anyway, enough of that— you seem disappointed when I came home and not Venti. Why is that?”
“...”
... Why did they do this, actually?
“I... Wanted to honor his wish,” they began, their eyes turning to the grandmaster. “Back then, he said he'd love more than anything to travel with me— to help me in my travels to get my sibling back.”
They recalled how it played out, and they could never forget that smile on his face as they left Windrise to set out to Liyue.
“I know I won't be able to get what I want, but I want to do something to honor his wish... For once, I really want to do something right— to honor our promise, even if it's pointless in the end. It took me months to be able to do this, but now...”
They stopped talking for a moment and sighed, the hopelessness of the situation dawning on them. Of course the traveler wouldn't be lucky.. What were they thinking?
“... Sorry. You came home to a disappointed leader, and it just.. Feels bad, knowing all my efforts were in vain.”
...
...
“... Ehe...”
Huh?
"Ehehe... Ahahaha!" the acting grandmaster laughed, her voice changing to a familiar bard's. "Oh, I'm sorry— I couldn't help but laugh seeing how effective my prank was!"
... Prank?
“Wh—”
Venti raised his arms, grinning brightly at the traveler that actually summoned him.
“April Fool's, traveler! You just got pranked, ehe!”
“...”
A soft sniffle escaped them as they pulled the bard to a hug, surprising him. He let out a shocked noise as their shoulders shook, but he can tell the traveler was happy that he did came and granted the final wish.
“There, there...” he hushed, a smile playing on his lips. “I'm home now.”
And I'm not leaving this time.

"Maybe Master Diluc DOESN'T Have A Harem After All . . ." (The 20 Follower Special: Part II)
Mondstadt's resident drinkers put the 'high-functioning' in high-functioning alcoholics and try to get to the bottom of whether the harem exists or not; featuring key assumptions about Diluc's personal character outside of his own perception, a troll of a bard who is trolled by how his trolling is received, and compounding disbelief.
Part I
(Also known as 'This is STILL unintentionally the greatest inside joke of all time.')
Note: I don't know how this is longer than the first part, but the plot works in mysterious ways, doesn't it?
Footnotes: tab
In the later part of the day on a particularly quiet evening at Angel’s Share, our lovely cast of daydrinkers are about to head out to go back to their respective homes.
Nelson: (drunk) Oh man . . . I think we overdid it today . . .
Payne: (head cradled in his arms) Shhh stop talking . . . it’s making me queasy.
Nelson: (shakily gets up from his chair) We’re so lucky . . . that we only do this on the weekends . . .
Payne: (groans) Speak for yourself . . .
Nelson: (sloppily clambers over and starts to yank Payne up) Come on . . . gotta get your shit-faced self home . . .
Payne: (groggily) Ugh . . . (tries to stand)
Nelson: (mutters) I told you . . . that this wine was strong stuff . . .
Payne: (barely manages to get up, leaning on Nelson for support) Shut up. You said I couldn’t chug it. So . . . I did.
Nelson: (sighs deeply) I . . . did no such thing. (heaves him up) Told you . . . not to though.
Payne: (grumbles) Semantics.
As the two of them are about to stagger out the door, a myriad of select individuals filters into the bar in heavy silence, somewhat misplaced given the atmosphere. Through their collectively bleary vision, they barely spot a pink nun, a green bard, and some sort of blue person. Or white. They think anyway.
Payne: (blinks up at the people coming in) Hmmm. Who’re . . . who’re they?
Nelson: (thinks slowly) Uhm. (blurts) Fuck. Applicants?
Payne: (nods) Mmm. Sounds right. (slurs) Harems do grow over time . . .
Nelson: (mutters to himself) What even is a harem . . . some sort of drink?
Payne: (mutters back) Nah, it’s a plant . . . a really nice plant . . .
With that, they stumble down the street towards home, but up on the second floor of Angel’s Share, a group gathers and congregates together with interesting news and a decent amount of alcohol.
Venti: (cheerily as he takes a seat) Hello, hello my companions in drinks and likened spirits! What brings us all to the second floor of the tavern tonight?
Rosaria: You’re better off asking him that question. (jabs a thumb in Kaeya’s direction)
Kaeya: (sitting quietly with his hands clasped together, deep in thought)
Venti: (curiously) Why the long face, Sir Kaeya? What’s the matter?
Kaeya: (snickers to himself) Nothing that could be solved with alcohol, that’s for sure.
Venti: (faux shock) Huh! I find it hard to imagine that there could be any problems that couldn’t be solved with wine . . .
Rosaria: (rolls her eyes) Of course you couldn’t. (snorts) Not unless it was alcohol poisoning or something. (shakes her head) It wouldn't surprise me if your liver was all kinds of fucked to the Abyss and back, bard.
Venti: (cheekily) Oh come on, Sister Rosaria! It’ll take more than that to take me down, you know! (begins to reach for the bottle of wine on the table)
Kaeya: (lightly smacks Venti's hand away, tuts) Wait just a moment.
Venti: (whines) But Kaeya, I want some . . .
Rosaria: (raises a single eyebrow) Are we expecting company?
Kaeya: (cryptically) Of a sort. And if the time is what I think it is, then they should be arriving here right about . . . now. (cordially) Venti, would you go down to the ground floor and retrieve our companion for us, please?
Venti: Huh? (stops, then knowingly) Ooooh. (playfully salutes) You got it, Captain! (giggles, then bounds down the stairs)
As he went down to the ground floor, their expected ‘company’ walked into the tavern, being led up the stairs to their table by the unusually insistent bard tugging on her arm.
Eula: (chiding) Errant bard, I demand that you unhand me this instant-
Venti: (ignores her) Come on, come on, Sir Eula! This is apparently important and I wanna get to drinkin’! (lets her go and then promptly sits down and attempts to uncork the bottle)
Eula: Hmph! (sees Kaeya and Rosaria) Ah, my greetings and well wishes to you both. (glares at Venti) And to the unruly bard as well.
Rosaria: (nods in greeting before wrestling the bottle out of Venti’s hands and undoing the cork herself)
Venti: (sticks his tongue out at Rosaria before smiling at Eula) Hello, Miss Eula!
Kaeya: (smoothly) Welcome to the table, Sir Eula. (pulls a chair out) Why don’t you have a seat and make yourself comfortable?
Eula: (brief) Thank you. (sits down)
After the wine has 'breathed' enough according to the expert opinions of the wine connoisseur (Eula) at the table, Rosaria pours them a glass of blood-red wine and they begin settling in for what may be a very long evening.
Kaeya: (takes a sip of his wine) So you're probably wondering why I’ve asked for all of you to come up here tonight?
Rosaria: (shrugs) Sure.
Venti: (gentle giggling under his breath, drinking his wine)
Eula: (tries not to cringe at herself) Not as much as I think I already know some of the reasons.
Kaeya: (takes out the letter he nabbed earlier and slides it to the center of the table)
Eula: (eyes widen, then narrow with scrutiny) Is that what I think it is?
Kaeya: (smirks) Well, what do you think it is, Sir Eula?
Eula: (inhales sharply, her ears red) If it is, then I have received something similar to it. (takes her folded letter and tosses it onto the table)
Rosaria: (takes both letters and opens them) (raises her eyebrows in shock) You’re kidding me. (scans them again) This is supposed to be a stupid rumor.
Eula: (snorts) Clearly not, if the Gunnhildr and Lawrence Clan are accepting it as complete fact.
Kaeya: (rubs his temples with a thumb and index finger) What I don’t understand about this is how we’ve all only been hearing about this now as opposed to months before it happened.
Eula: (nods in agreement, furrows her brows) The process in of itself would take at least three months if they were doing this officially, but based on the time the letters were penned, it’s been only two days.
Rosaria: (begrudgingly) To be honest, I thought it was just gossip and left it as that. What could I even investigate, something the baker’s daughter said to her friends yesterday afternoon? (shakes her head with irritation, under her breath) I need a smoke. (sips more wine)
Eula: (leaning over the counter) I personally haven’t been able to find much of anything regarding the citizenry knowing that these letters even exist, so I believe that this may be beyond anything that could be called fictitious.
Kaeya: I haven’t noticed anything else out of the ordinary either and any leads I followed ran cold. (hums to himself)
Rosaria: (genuinely thinking on it) If it was nefarious, I would have found out more about it and have it handled by now, but this is different. (to Eula) If I was a bit more biased, I’d think someone was fucking with you and the Grand Master’s clans and if I was ignorant, I’d think someone is fucking with us in particular.
Eula: (swirls her drink in the glass) I don’t know what to make of this, but what I do know is that something is afoot and I happen to be a good amount of the subject matter.
Kaeya: (hums contemplatively, finishing his glass) You know, Rosie-
Rosaria: (without missing a beat) I’ll cut you.
Kaeya: (rolls his eye) Sorry, Rosaria. (huffs) What you said a moment ago could indeed be the case.
Eula: (incredulously) You think that some knave concocted this entire scheme as some elaborate prank? (directly at Kaeya) A joke?
Kaeya: (somewhat defensively) It’s the only thing that makes sense with what’s been presented!
Rosaria: (puts one hand up) Hold on a second. If you and the Grand Master got a letter, it probably means that Diluc would’ve gotten some as well.
Kaeya & Eula: (turn to the stairwell, then back at each other)
Eula: (to Kaeya) Does he have a shift tonight?
Kaeya: (nods) He should be in later.
Eula: (lifts her chin) Hmph! He’ll have a lot to answer for if even a fraction of this is even remotely true.
Venti: (thinking out loud to himself as he drinks his second glass) Mmm, I don’t know about that. (makes the motion of wisely stroking his chin) Perhaps there is a grain of truth in it we have yet to find . . .
Kaeya: (blinks as if he just remembered something) Ah yes! (turns his body to Venti) (politely) Venti?
Venti: (looks up at Kaeya, innocently) Hmm?
Kaeya: (smoothly and intentionally) As Mondstadt’s finest master bard, it would be safe for me to assume that you know your way around the talk of the town. So would you happen to know anything about this?
Venti: (flattered, but mischievous) Well, I may have heard a thing or two here or there, but who can be sure of what is fact and what is not? (shrugs) People are fond of interesting chatter and bards love it all the more! (slyly) Some of those ballads don’t write themselves after all.
Meanwhile, Eula and Rosaria listen intently with their respective second glasses of wine, wondering what the point was if there was one to be had in the first place.
Kaeya: Oh, of course not! (a tad more serious) So based on what you’ve heard and seen at this table, would you say that there have been some songs made with this in mind?
Venti: Songs that happen to reveal the truth by sheer coincidence and with no intention of doing so have been penned in the past. (giggles) However, the songs that have been composed as of late are quite the opposite, quite the comedies if I say so myself! (stage-whispers) The bards are quite fond of exaggerated speculation.
Kaeya: (inquires) Well, if it isn’t too much trouble, would you mind playing us one of their songs?
Venti: (grins) For my fellow drinking pals and their excellent tastes in wine? Gladly! (summons his lyre)
Eula: (finishes her wine and settles in her seat with casual anticipation) This ought to be good.
Rosaria: (groans out loud) Would it kill you to just tell us normally?
Venti: (cheekily) Where’s the fun in that, Sister Rosaria? (strums the lyre)
Venti then launches into a speedy seven-minute medley concerning the letters, the rumors, the people and groups surrounding them, and how they all correlate with one key detail they’ve missed entirely: the now infamous Dandelion’s Honey.
After he is done, he takes a bow and sits back down, smugly sipping his third glass of wine for what he thinks is a job well done.
Eula: (stupefied) So . . . what you’re telling me is that the reason this all started and spiraled out of control like it has was that . . . it got out that Master Diluc is releasing another brew of Dandelion’s Honey?
Venti: (confidently) That seems to be the case!
Kaeya: (pressing) But why? Sure, Dandelion’s Honey was only meant to be a one-time thing, but how did a harem get involved?
Rosaria: (tiredly) Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe it’s just because of how Mondstadt is. (musing) Polygamy isn’t really frowned upon here and people love to talk.
Kaeya: (puzzling) Well, I suppose that makes a little sense, but that doesn’t explain the letters. Why would the clans think that this rumor was true?
Eula: (snorts dismissively) Some of the Lawrence family heads will believe practically anything with the right balance of fantastical and grandiose detail with a basis in reality. (sniggers mockingly) And they hardly converse with the common folk or step outside of their sprawling estates to begin with. (laces her fingers) In short, I could expect this from some of my older relatives and by proxy, some of the Grand Master’s as well.
Kaeya: (groans loudly, dragging one hand down his face) How could people even make that jump from someone knowing someone to them being in some sort of relationship because of it? It’s ludicrous!
Venti: (knowingly) Believe me, Sir Kaeya, people will take anything and run with it as long as there’s a reason, however minute it may be.
Rosaria: (sips at her wine) Who’d be in a harem with him of all people anyway?
Kaeya: (shrugs) To quote you earlier, your guess is as good as mine.
Venti: (finishes his third glass of wine, melodically) If one would like to find the answer, they only need to take a gander . . . (snickers)
Eula: (sighs in frustration, setting her empty wine glass aside, hopelessly) A mead and a harem doesn't even register as going together in any scenario I can think of.
Rosaria: (laughs darkly) Maybe Dandelion’s Honey is simply a motif for something else, then?
Venti: (calls down) Charles, can you bring another bottle of that exquisite wine up here? Ours is running a little dry! (suddenly) Oh, and some of the white wine too!
Eula: (to Venti) Can you also ask for a keg of beer?
Venti: (questioning, teasing) Not a tankard?
Eula: (deadpans) Did I stutter, bard?
Venti: (loudly in the direction of the stairwell) And a keg of beer, if you will!
Charles comes up with the requested items, including the keg, much to his back’s displeasure.
Kaeya: (still thinking) I don’t think we have the full picture here. It can’t be that simple, there’s something else . . .
Venti: (throws his arm around Kaeya’s shoulders) Don’t overthink it too much, Sir Kaeya! Why don’t you have a drink or two and unwind for a little while?
Kaeya: (hums to himself, absent-mindedly rapping his fingers on the table) That white wine does look quite delectable.
Rosaria: (rasps) I’m taking that smoke break now. Don’t call me back before it’s done unless you’re dying. (looks pointedly at Venti) And I swear to Bardabos, if you try to do anything with my drink, your life is forfeit. (gets up and walks off towards the balcony)
Venti: (shudders involuntarily as he pours his own drink)
After Rosaria comes back from her smoking break, they partake in their drinks for a little while longer, occasionally bringing up their reasonings again, only for it to go nowhere conclusive. It’s hard not to feel like the bard is pulling their leg and delighting in their pitiful misery, especially when he says something particularly interesting.
Venti: (smug, with an insufferable smirk as he drinks his wine) Do you all really think that this line of questioning is truly that hopeless?
Eula: (blearily) It’s mead. (mutters) Good mead, for sure, but still mead. (taps the keg into a tankard and drinks)
Rosaria: (staring down at her wine glass, sarcastically) Maybe one of his 'consorts' loved it so much that they convinced him to make it again.
Kaeya: (throws his hands into the air) I would say that he’s not one to be swayed by such abstract whims, but I didn’t expect him to be allegedly tied to a harem either. (bitterly) At this point, it wouldn’t surprise me if this was true somehow because apparently, I’m losing my edge. (drinks heavily out of his fourth glass)
Venti: (looks to all of them mirthfully, takes a long drink before stating) Ahem! Guys?
Eula, Kaeya, & Rosaria: (turn to him tiredly, in sync) What?
Venti: (innocently cocking his head to the side) Haven’t you considered that people have simply confused Master Diluc for having a harem when they’re just his friends instead?
The cryo users pause briefly, the words taking their sweet time to sink in and properly marinate, ruminating in their heads as the sheer amount of sense, brain cells, and copium mixed in with that question and the alcohol caused an illicit reaction born out of minds that had reached critical levels of logic and reasoning.
And so, as a result, all three of them dissolved into an uncharacteristically loud bout of drunken laughter. They've heard just about everything they could take already, really, so of course they’re going to laugh at it. If I went in as deep as they've gone, I wouldn't believe this either, but I wrote it, so I'm built different.
Eula: (wiping tears from her eyes) Bard, if the life of a musician ever gets too rough for your disposition, please consider branching off into comedy!
Rosaria: (heaving heavily) That’s fucking rich! (starts laughing again)
Kaeya: (claps Venti on the shoulder) Oh, you sweet thing. (still chuckling, mirthfully) If we thought that he could maintain any sense of a friendship, we wouldn’t be here right now . . .
Venti: (blinks once, mouth partially open) Wow. (pours himself a drink, drawn out) Ooookay, then.
Rosaria: (recovers a bit) Wait, you were serious?
Venti: (raises a single eyebrow as he sips his drink) It’s not the first time Mond has mistaken a friendship for something more.
Eula: (snorts loudly) Bard, you do know who we’ve been talking about this entire time, right?
Venti: (somewhat indignant) Of course I do! Who else has been rumored to have a massive harem? It certainly isn’t anyone else I’ve heard of!
Kaeya: (disbelieving) You’re joking with me. Him? With friends? (shakes his head, bitterly) I’ll believe it when I see it for myself. (takes a long swig) In fact, if it’s true, I’ll eat my eyepatch!
Rosaria: (finishes her drink, setting the glass down) I’m holding you to that, Alberich. (starts picking under her fingernails with a small dagger, muttering) If this isn't bullshit, I'll eat my veil in solidarity.
Venti: (properly exasperated, guffaws) Is Master Diluc having friends truly that hard to believe?
Eula, Kaeya, & Rosaria: (with resounding affirmation) Yes.
Venti: (deadpans, looking up to the ceiling) By Barbatos.
The fellows then descend into a tenuous silence as they continue to drink for a while, only to be interrupted by the sense of a looming presence.
Venti: (sits up from a slouched position, ominously) A storm, it approaches.
Eula: (fairly drunk) Nah. There weren’t any clouds in the sky today.
Rosaria: (strangely relaxed) Ugh, I hope it doesn’t rain. The cobblestone gets a stupid kind of slippery.
Kaeya: (shrugs as he sips at yet another glass) (drawls) We could just wait it out in here where it’s warm, toasty, and full of wine . . .
A booming laugh jolts them all to rapt attention and hits them with some semblance of sobriety. Venti immediately perks up with relief and hope as he hopped off his chair and ran down the stairs, only to drag someone familiar up.
Beidou: (waves, grinning widely) Heyo! I was wondering where you guys were when you weren't at the bar.
Eula: (looks up at Beidou) Ah, the 'privateer'. Greetings to you. (goes back to drinking)
Kaeya: (genuinely happy) Captain! Please, come sit down, we have plenty of drinks.
Rosaria: (simply drags a chair from an empty table and brings it to their table)
Venti: (plops back down on his chair) So, Captain, how’s the sea-faring treating you these days?
Beidou: (sits and takes out her flask) As usual. Trade is good, conditions are as they are, and the sea is as it always is. Nothing to really complain about there. (looks them all over) How’ve you all been?
Venti: (starts) Well actually-
Rosaria: (grabs him by the scruff of his collar and claps her other hand on his mouth, attempting some semblance of civility) Good. Just great. Dare I say, absolutely wonderful.
Beidou: (at Rosaria and Venti) Uh-
Kaeya: (quickly) Don’t mind it! It’s just that the bard has caught onto a few new tunes that he can’t help but sing nonstop and we’ve had to deal with it the entire time! (convincingly) We wouldn’t wish the same perilous fate on you as well.
Eula: (mutters loudly) Oh yes. Archons help us all if he goes on about that harem again-
Rosaria: (swiftly kicks Eula’s shin underneath the table)
Eula: Ow! (glares pointedly at Rosaria) How dare you. (hic) I’ll get you back for that yet . . .
Beidou: (perks up with recognition) Huh? What about a ‘harem’?
Kaeya & Rosaria: (groans loudly)
Venti: (rips Rosaria’s hand off his mouth) (panting) Yes! The harem! Have you heard anything about any in Mondstadt or anywhere else?
Beidou: (takes a long swig of her flask, draining it) Just a moment. (takes the bottle on the table and starts pouring it into the flask) This is some seriously good shit y'all got here this season.
Eula: (whines as she sips at her beer) I was gonna finish that . . .
Rosaria: (lets go of Venti’s collar) It’s what you deserve for throwing my ass into this hell again.
Beidou: (corks her flask, chuckling to herself) You know, it’s really funny that you bring up a harem now because the other day, my crew on the Alcor thought that I had one.
Kaeya: (chokes, coughing quickly) Wait, come again?
Beidou: (laughs) Yup! I had almost the same reaction you did.
Rosaria: (slowly, almost hesitantly) So . . . do you have one?
Beidou: (cackles) Hell no, Rosie! (shakes her head) That ain’t my kind of stuff.
Rosaria: (involuntarily twitches her eye, grumbles under her breath)
Eula: (blearily) But where did such a rumor come from? (coughs into her fist) Ugh . . . (takes another swig)
Beidou: (continues on) Apparently some busybodies out there raised their eyebrows at the thought of a thirty-something-year-old woman hangin’ around a bunch of young men. (snorts) Ha! So by that logic, most of the Alcor would be my consorts! (snickers to herself) People will come up with anything to entertain themselves . . .
Venti: (snickers smugly) Indeed!
The three cryo users look at each other, then down at their respective drinks, and then finally to Venti, who seems to delight in their collective misery as he sips his wine.
Eula: (as carefully as she could) Captain Beidou of the Crux Fleet?
Beidou: Pfft, you don’t need to tack that on there. What’s up?
Eula: (swallows, nervously) While your own circumstance is pure folly, would you be open to the idea of it actually being true as it pertains to others?
Beidou: (raises her eyebrow) Hmm?
Rosaria: (thinks, then sighs deeply and slides the two letters from earlier over to her)
Kaeya: (starts to protest, but decides against it) This hunch of yours had better be quite the one, sister.
Rosaria: (tiredly) If it isn't, I’ll seriously eat my veil.
Beidou takes one look at both of the letters and then proceeds to completely lose her shit, doubling over in an absolute cacophony of laughter.
Eula: (indignant) I- what do you find so funny about this?! This is quite serious!
Kaeya: (glares in displeasure) I find myself in agreement with Miss Eula for once.
Beidou: (catches her breath briefly, holding out open palms) Wait-wait-wait, so those letters are legit?
Eula: (loudly) Yes, yes they are!
Beidou: (looks at the both of them before doubling over in laughter again, shrieking) By the Archons, it’s real! (audibly wheezes)
Rosaria: (looks directly at Venti, menacingly) If this is some sort of practical joke you’re pulling on us, then I think it’s run its course, bard.
Venti: (laughing gleefully) Come now, Sister Rosaria. You’d surely know by now if it was a joke or not!
Beidou: (finally calms down enough to speak) Man . . . (wipes a tear away from her eye) They really weren’t kidding when they said that Firefly was one of Mondstadt’s most eligible bachelors. (ponders) I had absolutely no idea about the harem though. (shrugs in acceptance) Then again, who wouldn’t want to get a piece of the hotshot of Mondstadt’s wine industry?
Kaeya: (eye widens in realization) The wine industry . . .
Rosaria: (looks at Kaeya, hissing) What is it now?
Eula: (still quite huffy, glowering) Is something the matter yet again?
Kaeya: (turns slowly to Beidou’s direction) If you wouldn't mind my asking this of you, Captain, but are you here, perhaps, for a favor or two?
Beidou: (sips out of her flask, casually) I guess you could call it that. (inquiring) Why are you askin'?
Kaeya: (actually stutters) So . . . so-
Rosaria: (liberally smacks Kaeya upside the head) Stop it. Stop it right now.
Eula: (looks directly at Rosaria, then proceeds to drink heavily)
Beidou: (towards Venti, confused) Will you please tell me what’s got them in such a tizzy? Is this just how cryo allogenes are in general when they’re in the vicinity of each other or is it just the day?
Venti: (drawls conspiratorially) Long story short, as soon as it got out that Dandelion’s Honey was coming back, everyone in Mond lost their minds as to why! (shrugs) Sure I’m curious about why myself, but personally I’m just happy that Master Diluc’s willing to experiment more with mead! And whatever the kind of mead he makes, I and all of Mondstadt will gladly partake! (raises his glass) To delectable mead and good company!
Beidou: (chuckles as she lifts her flask) And to good friends that make damn good alcohol. Cheers!
Unbeknownst to the two of them, all three cryo users had frozen in the midst of their somewhat tense arguments and turned their eyes directly at them, not quite believing what they were hearing.
And as if all of their thoughts and speculations sought to see themselves concluded, the man in the center of this mystery had finally come in for his shift, slipping in among the midst of chatter and conversation.
Diluc: I can start my shift now, Charles.
Charles: (skeptically) You sure about that, Master Diluc?
Diluc: (nods)
Charles: (sighs) Alright, if you want to. (leans closer to him, whispering) The captain arrived some time ago and is currently upstairs.
Diluc: (mutters back) Thanks.
Charles: (simply claps him on the shoulder) Good night to you, Master Diluc. (leaves the tavern proper)
Diluc: (briefly) Good night.
His eyes peer up the stairwell and he can’t help but groan internally at who he spies at a table up on the second floor. Meanwhile, a majority of the table can’t help but feel the same way for unrelated reasons.
Kaeya: (head buried in his arms slumped over the table) (muttering to himself) I won’t believe it until I see it. I refuse to believe it.
Rosaria: (slumped over Kaeya’s body) I have to actually eat my fuckin’ veil . . .
Eula: (hunched over on the table, dozing) Mngh . . .
Beidou: (to Venti) They’re seriously done and buzzed already, huh?
Venti: (slurred) That seems to be the case . . . (slings his arm over Beidou’s shoulders) It’s just you and me for now! (wryly) Unless . . . (calls down with barely contained mischief) Bartender!
Down below, the ‘bartender’ tries not to glare daggers at the bard and fails before begrudgingly making his way up the stairs.
Beidou: (reaches out and clasps his arm with her free hand) Heyo, Firefly.
Diluc: (readily returns the gesture) Hello, Captain.
Venti: (waves, upbeat chipper) Hey there, Master Diluc! You look like you’ve been doing well.
Diluc: (nods) You can say that I have. (looks down to the three cryo users, dryly) Although I can’t say the same for your companions.
Venti: (too casually) It’s nothing you need to worry about, Master Diluc. They’re just reeling from the piss-poor reality of their situation.
This green fucker knows full well what he was doing and he's just happy to instigate it as this is the most entertaining shit he's seen in a while.
Rosaria: (lifts her head up to glare specifically at Venti) That’s rich, coming from the ringmaster of it all. (buries her head back into Kaeya’s spine) I’m so tired of this . . .
Eula: (blinks once in Diluc’s direction before shifting her head away, bluntly) Go away, I don’t want to see you right now or ever again in my life.
Diluc: (furrows his brows in initial confusion, before grim realization sets in, reddening) Wait, look-
Kaeya: (lifts his head, interrupting him tiredly) Now, now, Master Diluc. (moves his hand slightly to slide some letters to him) We have questions and we want answers to them.
Thoroughly exhausted from this dance, Rosaria suddenly whips out a dagger and stabs the letters into the wooden table so as to not let them be passed further, fines for damages and shocked glances be damned.
Rosaria: (groggily) Oh, for fuck’s sake, if it’s coming from you, this’ll take another half hour if not more. (sits up and looks straight into Diluc’s eyes) Look, Diluc. Do you have a harem or not?
Diluc: (reddens, grumbling) No.
Rosaria: (to the point, uncaring) Then why does everyone think you do?
Diluc: (looking away, averting his gaze, curtly) I haven’t the slightest idea. Your guess is as good as mine. (pointedly at Kaeya) Although he’d probably know more about that anyway.
Kaeya: (laughs bitterly at Diluc) Do you really think I’d be here if I did? Hmph! (turns away from him, mumbling) Death After Noon isn’t even in season.
Diluc: (drags a gloved hand down his face, to Beidou) I apologize for this. I genuinely have no idea what’s going on right now.
Beidou: (chuckles) And what do you have to be sorry for? Apparently, our little deal was leaked and people started to speculate a bit, them included.
Diluc: (wryly) Ahh, so that’s what’s happened. (still a bit confused) But where did the harem come from though?
Kaeya: (still turned away) That’s what I’ve been saying! (petulantly) I find it hard to believe that you could have one, let alone maintain one.
Rosaria: (nods) Exactly. So what’s the deal?
Eula: (from her slumped position on her chair) And why are the noble houses treating it as the gospel truth?
At this point, Venti too has become exhausted of this entire line of particular inquiry and mischief. He can hardly believe it, but as they’ve all started to run circles around the point, he decides to take this into his own hands and make it have some sort of sense in his own, equally insufferable way.
Venti: (voice intentionally amplified by whatever Anemo powers he has) Guys.
Everyone stops and turns to him, and Beidou simply leans back to enjoy the show that’s about to play out.
Venti: (laughs in a sense of surprise) I don’t actually have to spell this out for you, do I? I mean, I’m just a humble bard and even I can realize that you’ve all completely missed the point I’ve been trying to get you all to!
Diluc: (crosses his arms) Well, let’s hear it then.
Venti: (coughs into his fist before declaring) Master Diluc does not have a harem and this is an indisputable, undeniable, and cocksure fact!
Eula: (breaths out a sigh of relief) Thank Barbatos.
Venti: (smiles) You’re welcome! Now, since it’s established that there is no harem, why would people think that there was one?
Rosaria: (bluntly) Because people are busybodies who don’t know how to mind their own business?
Venti: Nope!
Eula: (slowly) Because . . . it would be politically advantageous?
Venti: Nada!
Kaeya: (squinting) Ease of access to his power? Or perhaps out of some hidden desires or secrets that I somehow don’t know about?
Venti: No, no, and no! (to Diluc) Wager a guess?
Diluc: (genuinely thinking on this) Is it . . . something to do with my proximity to certain people?
Venti: (eagerly) You’re getting closer!
Eula: (scrunches her eyebrows in concentration) It’s gotta do with people, but maybe people that aren’t from Mond . . .
Venti: (nodding) Mhm!
Rosaria: (snaps her fingers, realization) Does it have anything to do with the stupid oni that keeps challenging me to card games?
Venti: (enthusiastically) Warmer . . .
Eula: (perks up with recognition) Yes, him and the finely-dressed gentlemen?
Venti: (encouragingly) Yes, you're getting warmer . . .
Kaeya: (disbelieving the words coming out of his mouth) The Fatui Harbinger too?
Venti: (excitedly) By the Archons, you’re all so close it’s killing me! Come on . . .
Diluc: (realization with loud incredulity) Are you talking about my other friends?
Venti: (shrieks, leaping out of his chair) Ding-ding-ding! (does a little dance around his chair, enthusiastically) You’ve got it! (throws himself back into his chair, laughing all the while)
This is what no gnosis does to a former Archon who has nothing better to do.
Kaeya: (genuinely shocked) You have friends?
Eula: (weakly) There's another?
Rosaria: (already cutting off a piece of her veil, fed up) Fuck me soundly. (to Kaeya) You better get that extra eyepatch you have on you ready, Alberich.
Beidou: (somewhat invested) Well holy shit, the plot thickens like absinthe. (takes a swig from her flask, to Diluc) Mond doesn't know you have a social life, Firefly?
Diluc: (shrugs) I honestly didn't think people cared that much.
Venti: (springs back up) So! Now that we've established verbal acknowledgment and the physical presence of another individual among us that Diluc is indeed unusually familiar with other people-
Beidou: (simply nods) Mhm!
Venti: -and that all of them are from outside of Mondstadt, for some notable figures in high society, this presents a unique opportunity to gain some influence, hence . . .
Eula: (puts her chin in her propped hand, drawls shrewdly) The Lawrence and Gunnhildr clans send suitable 'candidates' to try and worm themselves into the inner circle for their family's respective interests.
Venti: (claps his hands in confirmation) Bingo! And this, along with the fact that he runs half of the wine industry, is of noble status, dedicated to his work, and - in some people's opinion at least - quite easy on the eyes, people could naturally make the assumption that anyone he was seen in public with would have to be someone of some importance.
Rosaria: (snorts as she chews on the fabric) This shit reads like some fiction novel.
Beidou: (chuckles) I'm pretty sure I've seen an opera play out like this before.
Kaeya: (sipping his wine, at Venti) Well this is how you would see all of this, given your own views.
Venti: (raises his eyebrows) Oho? And how would you see this, Sir Kaeya?
Kaeya: (smirks in challenge) If you would allow me to play the devil's advocate for just a little while . . .
Venti: (excitedly) For sure! (grabs his drink) I'm all for different points of view!
Diluc: (sighs heavily in forced acceptance)
As they all know him well enough to do so, they settle in for what could be one of the most ham-fisted lines of thought that they had to be subjected to. The only reason that Rosaria hasn't left yet is that she really wants to see Kaeya try to eat his eyepatch.
Kaeya: (gives a slash of a grin) Then I shall. (sips his wine before speaking) Most of the evidence that's been brought forward would suggest that he would have a harem but here at this table, we know that that isn't the case. The people, however, don't know what we already do.
Eula: (nods) This is true.
Kaeya: (to Venti) I distinctly remember that you also brought up the mead earlier as something that some people tied to the existence of a harem. (gets up, starting to slowly meander around) You see, Dandelion's Honey was a one-time brew and Mondstadt was quite sure that it was going to stay that way. So why would the brewmaster suddenly change his mind?
Rosaria: (factually) Well, it did really good. Could be for business purposes?
Kaeya: Ahh, but if it was for business, then other drinks and lines would have done the same, yes? (to Eula) How long has it been since the Dawn Winery made their one-time elderberry wine?
Eula: (sighs with nostalgia) Too long.
Diluc: (raises his eyebrow) You mean two years ago?
Kaeya: (continues) And did they ever continue that pomegranate cider after it sold out within the day?
Venti: (pouting) No, and I never got to try any of it!
Diluc: (rolls his eyes) You had so much of it that you blacked out and forgot the taste.
Kaeya: (stops in his tracks with a look in his eye) With this in mind, we can conclude that the mead coming back isn't for business. So it must be something else, then. We could say that it was for the sake of further refining it, but then we also have to assume that he tried them and saw it fit to do so, which he did not.
Diluc's silence with this statement is enough of a confirmation.
Kaeya: (looks over the others as he goes on) So if it wasn't for either of those, why would it come back? But if the reason for it coming back was because it was so good, why wouldn't it come back? We all had it, didn't we?
Venti: (nods eagerly) Mhm!
Eula: (unabashedly) It was the best mead I ever had.
Rosaria: (stops chewing) Ehh. I'm more of a wine kind of person, but it was pretty good.
Diluc: (stating) It was a mead.
There's an unusual pause after that, in which Kaeya locks eyes with Beidou as if waiting for her to respond before he simply asks her directly.
Kaeya: And what's your opinion on it?
Beidou: (looks to Diluc, then back to Kaeya, plainly) Don't know why you're asking me that question.
Kaeya: (inquiring) Well, you mentioned it earlier, so that means you did have some of it, right?
Beidou: (simply) Yeah I did. I liked it.
Kaeya: (eye glints) Exactly, fellow Captain. In fact, I distinctly remember that the mead was such a hit that it practically disappeared within the week. (suddenly) But wait just a second here! There's one thing that we need to take into consideration!
The gathered people wait with curious anticipation and growing realization for the dramatic pause to end.
Kaeya: (turns to Diluc, sweetly) Say, Master Diluc, what was the intended length of time for Dandelion's Honey to be out?
Diluc: (carefully) About two weeks.
Kaeya: (even sweeter) And if one was to ask, how would the mead get here over that time?
Diluc: (deadpans, irritated) On the road. Just like everything else.
Kaeya: (in typical faux dramatics) Why of course! (egging him on) So you could say that highwaymen and bandits could intercept some of the goods and take them for themselves?
Diluc: (annoyed) Yes. (emphasizes) In theory.
Kaeya: (shrugs casually) Well, it's not really much of a theory if it actually happened. (furrowing his eyebrows) Oof, just thinking about that pile of paperwork makes me cringe. (looks directly at Diluc) And if I recall the details correctly, I believe that the retail for Dandelion's Honey was only meant for Angel's Share, correct?
Diluc: (exhales heavily and pinches the bridge of his nose) Just get to the point already.
Kaeya: (short laugh, hands up in surrender) Alright, alright, geez. (to everyone else) Wouldn't want to offend the sensibilities of Master Diluc here, now would we? (turns back to Beidou, calculating and a bit coldly) So, if Dandelion's Honey was never meant to leave Mondstadt at all, one must wonder how you are able to sing its praises if your ship was never in Dornman Port during that time at all.
If you think this is far-fetched for Kaeya to pick up and piece together, may I remind you that he has sussed out so much shit on Diluc and his areas of operations and that he hasn't said a word to anyone about it as of the publishing of this post?
Beidou: (sitting up, demeanor shifting slightly) Meaning?
The privateer that leads Liyue's largest private fleet also does not take kindly to certain implications regarding her personal character.
Kaeya: (genuine, but firmly) Don't misunderstand me when I say that I found it quite peculiar that you came across the mead. You are no petty thief and you do not seem to do anything without a reason, but it's no simple coincidence that after around the same time you supposedly tried it, merchants from Fontaine talked of a mead that was 'as sweet as honey'.
Beidou: (thinking, inhaling and exhaling before making up her mind and replying) Some Treasure Hoarders along the Liyuen coast had some crates of the mead and I snagged them. We kept most of it, but we did sell a crate or two to some guys in Fontaine. (shrugs) Don't know if it goes together, but it makes sense.
Kaeya: (hums with confirmation) And with that, another piece of the puzzle is set in. (with the barest sense of guilt) No hard feelings, Captain?
Beidou: (casually) If you buy me a beer, then sure.
Kaeya: (graciously) Consider it already on my tab.
Beidou: (breaks out into a grin) Nah, I was just joking! Archons know that the assumption was right there anyway. We're good.
Rosaria: (swallows the lump of fabric, then rips off another chunk of her veil with her teeth, muttering) How wonderful.
Kaeya: (addressing the table grandiosely) Now that we know that it wasn't for money, glory, or popularity and that there's some sort of timeline, whatever else could be why our beloved mead is returning to us? (stage-whispers) Or, perhaps there's another question we could ask ourselves. (turns to Diluc yet again, sickeningly sweet) Since when did you genuinely have any friends, Master Diluc?
Diluc: (rolls his eyes, glaring) Is it really that hard to believe it, Sir Kaeya?
Eula: (very drunk, deadpanning) Absol-fucking-lutely.
Diluc: (turns to her, coolly) I don't recall asking for your opinion.
This, on one hand, was a blunt statement.
Eula: (without missing a beat, flushed red and sneering) And I don't care if you didn't as you don't mean much to me anyway. (lifts her nose at him) I simply can't be bothered by what you have to say about me anymore and-
Kaeya: (tries to cuts her off) Now now, Eula. No need to get worked up-
Eula: (thoroughly offended) And why wouldn't I be? (coughs into her closed fist, straight-forward) I may be a Lawrence, but as I am also a part of this, I can have some opinions on this matter, can't I?
Rosaria: (roughly swallows, almost choking) Let the woman speak.
Eula: (finishes her beer, flushed bright red, at Diluc) If anything, your aloof disposition (hic) is what caused this to begin with!
This, on the other hand, was straight-up slander.
Diluc: (openly taken aback, annoyed) I am not aloof, I just mostly keep to myself.
Eula: (glares) Right. As if that (hic) doesn't mean the same thing. Besides, why else would some average person (hic) believe it if the individual in question (hic) is hardly seen outside of their estate and place of work? For all intents and purposes, (hic) intentional or not (hic), you have painted yourself to be the weird (hic), eccentric wine tycoon of nobility (hic) that could pull something like this off!
Diluc: (crosses his arms, reddening, stubbornly) Whatever Mondstadt came up with in terms of this simply serves the purpose of being entertaining to think about. (growls under his breath) The stupid letters only tell me that the people are caught up in a delusion that will die down in due time.
Eula: (hisses with clear displeasure) Well regardless of what those 'stupid letters' were (hic), I will have you know that the answer is a resounding no. (venomously) I'd rather die than chain myself to you, of all people.
Diluc: (somewhat flabbergasted) And I wouldn't want to do that to myself either- (backtracks) Wait, no, we aren't even going to go through with it-
Eula: (incredulously) We?!?
Diluc: (just as incredulously) I meant the turn of phrase?!?
With Eula too drunk to remember that she could simply challenge Diluc to cross blades with her and with Diluc too off-guard to diffuse the sparring of words, the sight leaves some commentary to be had by the observing drinkers and textile grazers.
Rosaria: (to Kaeya, still chewing) Your estranged relative is really arguing with someone drunk off of their ass right now.
Kaeya: (sinks into the empty chair next to her, giving up on trying to wrangle the situation in his favor) A drunk that happens to be Captain Eula no less. (takes out a spare eyepatch from his pocket and starts absent-mindedly gnawing on it) Leather should be edible, right?
Rosaria: (uncertainly) Eh. Depends on how it was made, I think?
Beidou: (passively) I recommend boiling it first so it's easier to chew.
Rosaria: (holds up her half-torn veil) Will boiling water work for this too?
Beidou: (shrugs) Maybe. Haven't tried it myself, so I can't say for sure.
Venti: (quietly sips his wine, whispering to Beidou) As much as I disagree with them, I kinda see her point.
Beidou: (mutters back to Venti) Uh huh. Then again, she hasn't seen him and Childe in the same room yet.
Venti: (nods) Definitely. (pauses) Do you think we should stop them?
Beidou: (thinks, before saying) Nah. I think it's good for them to get rid of the pretenses. They ain't gonna just jump into fist-to-cuffs anyway.
As that sentence leaves her mouth, the initial argument had been slowly devolving into the drink whisking Eula away and Diluc finally stopping for long enough to really consider his actions.
Diluc: (sighs heavily, genuinely) Look, all I'm saying is that I apologize for any animosity you feel due to my association with the letters as I did not want it nor have any intention of pursuing that. (exhales and shakes his head) Forget it. You're drunk.
Eula: (groggily) And you're . . . a social recluse. (promptly slumps forward onto the table, dozing)
Rosaria: (finishes her singular glass of wine) And down she goes. (takes Eula's tankard from her loose hand and props her head up, to herself) She really needs to stop doing this to herself.
Diluc: (exasperated, more to himself) This was not the time nor the place for any of this . . . Hmph. (embarrassed, awkwardly) I have things to do. (briskly walks off and is about to go down the stairs, saying) I'll get some water for you all.
Venti: (finishes another glass of wine, drunken and incredulous) Water?
Diluc: (already walking down, calling behind him) You're cut off. All of you. (points in Beidou's direction) Except you. Just don't overdo it.
A chorus of displeased groans ring out from the table.
Beidou: (calls down) The deal's still on, right?
Diluc: (from the ground floor, faintly) Yeah.
Venti: (pouts) Oh come on. How is that even fair? I still want some . . . (suddenly makes rapid grabby hands at Beidou's flask)
Beidou: (snatches his wrist without even looking at him) Don't even try it.
Venti: (whines) But you have the good stuff in there . . .
Beidou: (unapologetically) It's my good stuff now.
Venti: You can at least share! (pulls his wrist out of her grasp) You really are just a greedy pirate. (turns away from her) Hmph!
Rosaria: (to Beidou) I don't know how or why you and the bartender are friends, but whatever it takes to bring the mead back I guess.
Beidou: (hums absentmindedly while stretching her arms) It took him a little time to warm up to the idea of bringing it around again for retail, but I certainly don’t regret it now.
Venti: (suddenly turns back around, comically waggling his eyebrows) Why Beidou, that’s practically a miracle! How did you do it?
Beidou: (shrugs) I didn’t really have to do anything! He called it a 'personal favor' of sorts.
Venti: (genuinely surprised) Huh! I oughta try doing something like that sometimes . . . maybe he’ll take a ballad or two?
Beidou: (hums low) I dunno if that’ll work out for you, considering the somewhat ‘unique’ state of your tab*.
Venti: (pretends not to hear that) Sooo . . . if I ask, can I pretty please have a tiny sip out of your flask?
Beidou: (rolls her eye) It'll still be here tomorrow, so you can get some tomorrow. (deliberately moves the flask away from Venti's reach)
Venti: (groans loudly) It's not fair . . . you're so mean to me . . .
Kaeya: (with his cheek cupped in a propped hand, garbled with leather, to Beidou casually) I don't get it, but I suppose I can respect your friendship with him.
After the little snipe, he tries to pull off a chunk with his teeth, only for the somewhat mangled eyepatch to snap out of his free hand and into his other eye.
Rosaria: (chuckles coldly)
Kaeya: (covering his eye as errant tears leak out of it) Damn it all, now I'm actually blind! (rummages through his pocket, pulling out yet another eyepatch and putting it on his other eye, to Rosaria) See? I'm ruined.
Rosaria: (gently shoves Kaeya's face, as playfully as she can manage) How tragic.
Kaeya: (blearily) I could deal with one eye, but two? (slumps his head onto the table) That's just cruel.
Venti: (roughly pats his back) There, there, Sir Kaeya. It is naught, but a simple scratch! Nothing that a little bit of a gentle healing touch can't fix, really. (slaps his hand onto his left eye, this doing nothing at all)
Kaeya: (pitifully) Ow! (frowns) Now it hurts more.
Rosaria: (deadpanning, yet somewhat urging) Poor baby. You still gotta eat a piece of your eyepatch though. (fiddling with her half-hacked veil) I did it, so you have to too.
Kaeya: (mutters, blatantly pouting) What is this, Liyue? (turns in Beidou's direction) No offense.
Beidou: (taking yet another drink as she half-watches the current bout and half-monitors Venti's movements) None taken.
Rosaria: (teasingly in her own way) C'mon, Captain. (takes the chewed eyepatch and cuts off a small piece with a knife she has) You said you were going to do it and I'm holding you to it.
Kaeya: (openly whining) It's gross and hard to chew.
Rosaria: (makes to pry open his mouth with his finger caps) Open up, Alberich.
Kaeya: (begrudgingly complies and opens his mouth)
Rosaria: (half-heartedly pats his cheek) Good boy. (plops the piece into his mouth)
Kaeya: (grumbles before chewing in earnest)
Rosaria: (snickers) Don't try swallowing it too fast now. Really don't want you choking to death on me.
Kaeya: (frowns, accusingly) You're enjoying this aren't you?
Rosaria: (grins in lighthearted cruelty) Very much so. (begins to cut apart the previously cut eyepatch) Please, by all means, take your time. (drawls) I have all night.
A little while later, the 'bartender' had indeed kept to his statement and brought a pitcher of water before descending back into the bustling fray of the ground floor.
The easygoing atmosphere steadily returned amongst the persons there, as they got through the last of their drinks and waited for the uneasy sobriety that comes with the alcohol still in their veins.
Eula, at this point, had fallen into a drunken slumber, lightly snoring in a manner that would embarrass her if she was conscious enough to care. Beidou and Kaeya's respective capes are draped across the Spindrift Knight's shoulders while Venti's hat did it's best to cover her face and Rosaria's ruined veil was tucked underneath her head.
Before they all left for the night, however, there was something that they could all agree needed a definite conclusion.
Venti & Beidou: (chanting in unison) Eat it, eat it, eat it-
Rosaria: (with a rare mischievousness, encouraging) Come on, you're almost done . . .
Kaeya: (grimaces as he roughly swallows the last strip of his eyepatch, from the depths of his soul) Bleugh.
Venti: (throws himself into the air, hovering on a gust of wind buffeting everyone around him) Wahoo!
Beidou: (loud laughter) I can't believe you actually did it! (passes him her flask) Here, have a palette cleanser.
Rosaria: (light clapping, neutral, but genuine) You have no idea how happy I am about this.
Kaeya: (already drinking down what's left in Beidou's flask, smacking his lips in disgust) I can still taste it. (despairingly) I can still feel it in my teeth.
Rosaria: (casually pulls out a thread from between her teeth) Tell me about it.
I will now take this opportunity to remind you that Rosaria has been mostly sober this whole time.
Venti: (gently floats back down onto his chair, quite smug) With that all said and done, I think it's settled now, hmm?
Kaeya: (looks pointedly at Rosaria)
Rosaria: (looks back at Kaeya)
Kaeya: (to Venti, begrudgingly) Yes, Venti, you were right.
Rosaria: (admitting, sighing deeply) Diluc has friends and he is nice to them.
Venti: (goading) And?
Kaeya: (rolls his eye, deadpanning) There is no harem. There is no conspiracy. And there are no secret lovers.
Venti: (smiles, satisfied) See? It's not that difficult to believe after all! You did eat your clothing anyway.
Beidou: (chuckles more to herself than anything) I can't deny that this whole thing wasn't fun to watch after a while. I'm glad that's been cleared up now. Would've been real awkward if it hadn't. (yawns, stretching her body out on her chair) Anyway, it's getting late and I've got stuff to do tomorrow. So if y'all don't mind (gets up), I'll be heading out now.
Rosaria: (starts to get up as well) I was just about to leave too. (looks to grab her veil, only to remember that Eula has it) I can take her back to her place too, so don't worry about it.
Kaeya: (pushes his chair away from the table) How funny that you all decide to get going while I just made up my mind to do the same. (gets up, going over to Eula and gently shakes her shoulder)
Eula: (groans sleepily and petulantly)
Beidou: (simply grabs Eula by under her arms and pulls her up, turning to Venti) You coming?
Venti: (springs out of his chair, nabbing his hat from Eula's head) I don't see why not! Drunken tomfoolery is best enjoyed in good company after all.
The lot of them somehow maneuver a barely conscious Eula Lawrence down the stairs and eventually make their way out of Angel's Share into the warm night, Diluc cannot help but feel a pang of . . . mirth? Perhaps faint amusement? The circumstances that brought this about certainly allowed for it, he thought.
Regardless of that, he made his way up the stairs as to clean the space, only to find the dagger still pinning down some papers. Fairly familiar-looking papers. Curiosity getting the best of him, he plucked the knife embedded quite deep into the wood and took a simple look at the contents, only to sigh quite tiredly.
Without another thought about them, the papers in his hands caught afire, steadily reduced to embers. Strangely enough, an unusual drifting wind blew away the ashes and smoke from his palms, stroking his face and gently blowing back stray strands of his hair.
Diluc allowed himself a brief smile before he went back to his work, as this particular matter seemed to be truly said and done anyway.
Even so, it's somehow forgotten to inform Jean of this the next day.
---
This got long, but I'm sorry that I'm not really that sorry about it.
Everyone needed time to shine and the sheer amount of dynamics in terms of canon, being explorative, or otherwise was almost overwhelming. I tried to characterize Kaeya again and I think I'm starting to get it just a bit. As for Eula being an unofficial member of Teyvat's resident drinkers, I can only say that she deserves to be adequately welcomed by some company that would understand where she's coming from and care for her.
Not to sound arrogant or anything, but before 2.8, I had it written that the rest of the harem would get drinks on the house and I was right. I felt really good about calling that before there was any mention of it from Diluc's own lips. My characterization isn’t complete shit after all. The accuracy of the layout of the Dawn Winery in the previous installment was by sheer coincidence. I did not know I had that shit down to a science until Hidden Strife was a thing and I saw the inner layout for myself.
Concerning the master of the winery, I must say that his characterization here was primarily influenced by external elements, the most volatile of them being Eula and Kaeya. You cannot tell me that Eula and Diluc would not have some of the most ridiculous banter, and for what? Just existing in their respective vicinities with their own core beliefs and assumptions about each other? They deserve to interact in canon at least once.
You will have to pry drunken and happy rhyming Venti, chilled-out and playful Rosaria, and buzzed and honest Kaeya out of my cold, dead hands. 2.5 also enabled me to excuse the fact that Beidou showed up and to be honest, she goes where she wishes. It was either that or Rosaria attempting to skewer Childe on her spear. Blood is hard to get out of refined hardwood and is just generally bad for business.
Speaking of Beidou, I think she minds her own business for the most part and lets people handle their own stuff if she knows they can, hence the lack of explosiveness from her besides Kaeya's own inquiries.
(I don’t drink so yes, I just learned the difference between a tankard and a keg. You saw nothing of my works involving alcohol before this, so shush shush shush.)
With that out of the way, I am done with this. I'm pretty sure this series is the longest thing I've written on my own for now. And while I was writing this, I got to 28 followers! I hope you liked this most recent installment in the complete derailment of this line of inquiry.
*I put it in the beginning already, but just in case this is more convenient, this refers to another work of mine you can find here. It may have been forgiven, but it will never be forgotten.

galatea gets peer pressured into drinking and spends the entire time longing
from the scene in the main fic 👍
“Come on, Let loose and drink. Just one, at least.” Rosaria is trying her best to get Galatea to drink something.
She drank one sip of Diluc’s wine before deciding again that wine is cursed, and should be locked up in the vaults. Never to be seen again.
She doesn’t see how this will be any different.
She’s susceptible to peer pressure, though, unfortunately for her. She’s trying her best to say ‘no, my parents would be upset.’ But Rosaria knows that she does want to feel normal, just for a night.
She thinks Diluc knows, too, but he still argues with the other sister. “If she doesn’t want to drink, she shouldn’t have to.”
It’s light-hearted, really. They’re just pretending to argue back and forth over this.
“Can you make me something that tastes like juice?” Galatea asks, looking up at Diluc.
He sighs, accepting defeat. “I can modify something for you,” is what he says as he walks behind the counter and brings out his juice.
Rosaria looks awfully proud of herself, but she tries not to let it show. She’s pretty when she smirks, Galatea thinks.
She doesn’t mean to, but from across the tavern, she stares at his arms as he mixes the drink. All muscular, she wonders what it’s like to be held by him.
Rosaria waves her hands in front of the rabbit girl’s eyes. “You’re staring, Galatea.”
Oh. “Was not,” she argues. She has a reputation to uphold, she can’t be caught staring at a man. Not to mention Diluc. His fangirls would rip her to shreds.
“You were. Do you like him?” Galatea shushes her, trying to get her to keep her voice down.
She can’t be caught lusting after him. No matter how much she wishes she could be held by him, touched by him, kissed by him- “I can’t like him,” she replies.
Rosaria understands this, and yet, “but it doesn’t mean you don’t like him. You should pursue it.”
“Follow your dreams, and whatnot. For once.” Galatea is noticing that Rosaria really does care for her, under her icy facade.
But the younger woman shakes her head, whispering refusals at her. “It’s not possible, not for me.”
She pushes down the feeling she gets when she sees Diluc walking over to the table, trying not to watch too much.
Red-faced, she hopes he didn’t notice. She hopes he didn’t overhear them, either.
“Here you go,” he says, placing the glass on the table.” He waits, watching her as she takes a sip, waiting to see if it, too, is inconsumable for her.
But to his surprise, she enjoys it. “It tastes good, are you sure there’s alcohol in here?”
She’s in disbelief that an alcoholic beverage could be this good. “There is, but it’s not very strong.”
That explains it, she figures. “Will you allow me to have more, once I finish?”
He nearly wants to say no, that he won’t let her get drunk under his watch. But she almost looks like she needs it. “I’m cutting you off after three.”
“That’s fair. Thank you, Diluc.” Maybe it’s just the lightweight in her speaking, but she finds the curt nod he does to be the cutest thing in the world.
He doesn’t talk too much, it’s something she likes.
Better than having to listen to the knights ramble when she heals them. Like she’s going to find them cool for beating up Hilichurls that were staying in their lane.
Diluc, at least, only eradicates sworn enemies of the city. The ones that get too close. Though, she wishes he would go easier on them, too.
Being a pacifist in a world like this sucks, she thinks.
When she’s reborn, she wants to be a real rabbit.
Suddenly, she’s three drinks in, and everything is blurry. “‘Tea,” Rosaria calls out.
“Are you still with me?” Only three drinks, and she’s this dizzy? “Huh, yeah- what?”
She turns around, gesturing to Diluc to come to their table. “Get Galatea something to sober her up- I’ll pay for everything.”
Tears well up in Galatea’s eyes. Like she’s a baby. “Nooo, don’t pay for my drinks, I can do that myself…”
Rosaria pats her head, brushing off her attempt to pay. “I have to get going, let Diluc take care of you.”
She has enough sense not to tug on her arm and beg her to stay, at least.
Being alone with Diluc feels suffocating, when she wants him this badly. (No, don’t say you want him. You don’t, you can.’t)
----
“Galatea, it’s time to close,” Diluc says. At some point she ended up at the bar counter, mumbling to him about random things.
“Can’t go home yet,” she mumbles, speech slurred.
She doesn’t think she’ll let Rosaria talk her into getting drunk again.
Even if it was kind of fun.
“What do you mean you can’t go home yet?” He asks. His back is turned to her as he cleans the dishes.
“I can’t be seen like this… I’m not supposed to drink.” Everything clicks for him, then. He sighs.
“I’ll make you something to sober you up. I won’t charge Rosaria for it, either.”
“You’re an angel, ‘Luc,” she mumbles, nursing on the glass of cider he handed to her.
She might be crazy, but she could have sworn he blushed at that, if only briefly.
He clears his throat, trying to get away from the compliment. Were she any meaner, she’d chase after him.
"You didn't have to go along with it, I thought you didn't like alcohol," Diluc says.
"I think I just wanted to feel like everyone else, if only for a night,” is what she explains. And he knows.
Anyone would, if they were in Galatea’s shoes.
He takes the seat beside her while she works on drinking a second apple cider.
“Feeling better?” He asks, looking at her. It’s almost a fond look, she thinks.
“Yeah, a lot better. Thanks.”
She wants to kiss him, brush the hair out of his face and kiss him.
She pushs that down, too. As far down as she can. But it’s not her fault he’s so damn pretty.
“Here, I’ll walk you home, alright? It’s not safe for you to be alone,” he says.
He stands up, and offers his hand. Like a gentleman. Gods, he’s perfect.
She nods, placing her hand in his, letting him lead her out the door, walking down the streets to lead her home.
The way his hand fits in hers is perfect, too.
She can’t be falling for him, not now and not like this. But she’ll still imagine his pretty face at night, as she’s drifting into sleep.
And she’ll still imagine his strong arms around her when the air feels suffocating.
And she’ll wonder if he feels the same. But that’s just wishful thinking, is what she’s trying to convince herself of.
All too soon, they’re at her house. She should have told him to drop her off further away.
But he wouldn’t have let her, so instead she’ll just pray.
“Thank you, Diluc. I’ll see you soon, I hope?”
“Yes. I’ll be waiting.”
(She replays those words in her head, over and over, even as she kneels in front of the altar, repenting for her apparent sins.)

having your boyfriend be one of the kingpins of the wine industry was something that you could get used to.
not that you were a heavy drinker or anything, it’s just something you had come to appreciate as you often wasted time away in the bar with kaeya, sister rosaria, and the sweet bard that often outdrank the entire lot of you.
diluc often had no tolerance for the drunk crowd in the angel’s share on any given night. especially if his brother was involved. he chastised them, cut them off, but still cleared their drinks, cleaned their glasses, and made sure they got home safely. for someone so averse to alcohol, he sure was lenient with the drunks he held a special soft spot in his heart for.
everyone who frequented the angel’s share knew that the redhead’s biggest soft spot was for his sweet little girlfriend, who couldn’t hold her alcohol, who insisted she was sober, and then could never fully prove it.
diluc would slowly wean you off the drinks at a certain part of the night, filling your glass with more cranberry than vodka, more rum than coke, more ginger than jack. you were too drunk to tell, and it often had you unbeknowingly thanking him in the morning. it was a fun little secret he kept, a harmless one, but he never saw a problem with how you drank every now and then.
diluc’s favorite part of almost every night out for you is what would spill from your mouth when you had a sip too many. tired and in a dizzy spell, you put your head down on the bar as kaeya rubbed your back for comfort.
“I think y/n’s had enough, diluc,” kaeya laughs.
“yeah,” diluc looks over to see you twirling your straw in your drink unconsciously, eyes still closed as your head is down on the countertop. there were a few hours left in his shift, but diluc calls charles to watch the bar for a little bit and watch the usually rowdy three.
he scoops you up into his arms, thanks kaeya for looking out, and walks into the cool night saying nothing. you instinctively curl into him as the air touches your face and body. he’s so warm and large, you can’t help but to feel so protected and cuddled as he walks slowly out of mondstadt.
unfortunately, alcohol is clouding your memory, and better judgement as well. you look up at your boyfriend, who is as stoic as ever on the road before him, eyes scanning the area for any stray slimes or hilichurls.
“you’re so pretty, diluc,” you say.
he doesn’t even bat an eye, but you can tell that he’s trying to suppress a smile. “i think you drank too much, love.”
you pull your hand away from your body and reach up to trace his jaw, feeling his soft skin and admiring how such a hardened man can have such smooth skin.
he folds his lips inward trying not to laugh. “what are you doing?” he asks.
“like. you’re so pretty, are you really my boyfriend?”
“i am. it’s crazy right?” why not entertain you while you’re drunk out of your mind. diluc’s making himself amused thinking about it. and then you start crying, and he panics a little.
“did i say something wrong?”
“no,” you say between sniffles, and diluc immediately knows it’s nothing serious. “i just love you so much,”
you’re killing him. he’s trying so hard to be a good boyfriend but it’s taking all of his will not to laugh at you right now. “i love you too darling”
“i love when you call me that”
“really? i’ll have to remember that”
you giggle into him and its hard to contain the schoolgirl excitement that overcomes you. maybe it’s the alcohol, maybe something’s in the air.
“can we like, get married?"
"right now?" he asks.
"yeah. right now. in the middle of the road right now, i think that'd be really romantic."
"mmm, maybe. i'm not wearing a tux though. i'm highly unprepared"
"i don't mind. i think it's sweeter that way"
"and what would we tell our families and friends, love? don't you think they'd be upset they weren't invited and we were just suddenly married?"
"i don't care about that"
"how about we talk about this in the morning?"
"do you not want to marry me? is that it?"
diluc wondered how long he'd have to keep walking like this. how far away is the manor again? why does the walk seem longer tonight?
it's entirely possible, that without knowing it, diluc accidentally had taken the long way home. walking aimlessly around mondstadt with the love of his life in his arms was bliss. he wanted to live in this moment for the rest of his life, even if he couldn't explicitly admit in the moment.
"i'd marry you any day of the week, i'd just want you to be able to remember it i think"
"ohhhhhhh! ok!"
there's a pause.
"how about tomorrow then"
"tomorrow?" diluc asks, almost in a tone he'd use to talk to a child
"same time tomorrow"
"hmm, okay, if you insist. is this a formal proposal?"
"yeah! as serious as ever"
diluc looks dowm at you to see your eyes closed, with your body tucked into his chest. you look so peaceful, so content, and so happy. he can't believe he's the one that gets to see you like this, that gets to make you this happy. the thought of it almost brings tears to his eyes.
"what are you thinking about diluc? you always get quiet when you're thinking"
"mmm nothing you need to worry about, love"
"ok," you giggle. "is it something bad?"
"nothing of the sorts at all. i just love you a lot"
"really?"
"of course! why, do you think otherwise?"
"no, its not that"
your eyes stay closed as you burrowed further into yourself and more into his chest.
"sometimes diluc, i love you so much it intimidates me. but i can't get a good read on you and it makes me nervous"
"ah, i see," is all he says at first. if you were any more sober, it'd probably upset you. he's just looking carefully for what to say next.
"well," he starts, "i'm sorry you feel that way, what can i do to make you feel more at ease?"
you think, but not too hard. a real answer would've been easier for your conscience. instead, you keep it simple.
"how about you just tell me you love me one more time?"
"i can say it a million more times if you'd like me to, love."

That Flower Shop in Mondstadt (Various Mondstadt Characters)
“Oh! Mr. Diluc!” Diluc comes to your flower boutique every morning to pick up new flowers to replace to freshen up his winery which was just next door to your boutique. You always wonder why such a wealthy man would wanna buy flowers from your plain, humble shop. He had all the money in the world to buy much more beautiful flowers from much more famous and luxurious flower boutiques, so why buy here? Well, you weren’t one to question him, and you didn’t mind him.
“Good morning,” he simply stated as he went back to looking at the flowers.
“Those windwheel asters....did they come in yesterday?”
“Yeah! My family is constantly harvesting flowers, and I’m trying my best to help them!”
Your family run a farm all the way back in Liyue where they not just sell flowers, but fruits and vegetables too.
“Are you perhaps preparing for the Windblume Festival to take place? You sure have a loaded amount of it, as well as cecilias.”
“Well, I told them that and asked if they can import more of those flowers to, you know..”
“Economics.”
You giggled at his statement.
Your shop was at hot topic during the Windblume Festival. Not only were your flowers good quality, but they were cheap too, something you prided over your shop.
“Anyways, I would like to buy these windwheel asters.”
“Alright!”
After paying for his flowers, you greeted him.
“Hope you have a nice Windblume Festival, Diluc!”
It wasn’t visible, but his face was printed with a small smile on his delicate features.
“You too.”
=================================
“Good afternoon, y/n!”
“Hi, y/n!”
“Jean! Barbara! Welcome!”
Jean and Barbara, the two beautiful sisters, would always come here to visit your boutique to check out new flowers and, of course check up on their best friend, you. Always in the early afternoon.
“So, y/n. What tea have you brewed today?”
“Some osmanthus tea.”
Your family love delivering herbs to you, just so you won’t miss the taste of home. You found that really sweet, and also a great opportunity to share this earthy tea to others not from Liyue.
“Ooh! Nice!”
You poured the tea into three teacups as the smell of the osmanthus tea wafted through the air which helped calm the atmosphere of the tranquil boutique.
“One for you and one for you.”
“Thanks y/n!”
“Thank you very much, y/n.”
“Hope you have a wonderful Windblume Festival!”
“You too!”
“Yeah!”
You three giggled.
“Cheers!”
=================================
“See you got super excited over the Windblume decorations of your store, y/n!”
“Yes, hello Venti.”
The bard would come to your boutique randomly, but always in the afternoon. He likes coming to your boutique to talk about many things and he even offered to play some music for some “boutique jazz” is what he liked to call.
“Say, I like those turquoise and gold banners you have this year!”
“You don’t say?”
“Mhm! Anyways, do you still have some of that, ahem, osmanthus wine of yours your family is also well known for?~” he raised his eyebrows with that, oh so, suggestive smirk. He might be cute, but he was very much a mischievous bard.
“Yes, yes, I do,” you smiled and rolled your eyes, taking out the auburn bottle with a yellow gold and white label on it.
“Ahahahaha! Wonderful! As thanks, I’d like to invite you to be one of my pupils!”
Oh, you know this. He always does it every Windblume Festival where he would get people and teach people on how to write a good poem. Looks like you made pre-payment for a class you haven’t attend yet.
“Oh, no, I really shouldn’t! Ahehe...”
“Oh where’s the fun, y/n? It’ll be way more fun than last year! Promise!”
You sighed. That’s what he said every year. But you couldn’t resist thos adorable puppy eyes he was giving you. Ah, he’s lucky he’s cute.
“Alright, fine.”
“That’s the spirit, y/n! Meet you at five in the evening! Have a wonderful Windblume Festival!”
=================================
“Albedo.”
“Y/n”
Albedo came here to buy your flowers and use them for experiements.
Sometimes he came with Sucrose but it looks like today he came alone.
“Any flowers you would like to buy?”
“Hmmm, yes. Those qinxings and wolfhooks over there.”
“Alright.”
As he finished paying, he asked you, “So, y/n. Have any plans for today’s Windblume Festival?”
“Oh, eh, yeah. Just recently. Venti asked me to participate in his poetry class,” you sighed.
He simply chuckled. “Well, that’s nice.”
He gave you an amber stone, on it, or more like inside it, was a cecilia.
“I was experimenting with minerals and in the process I made this. I found it quite beautiful, so I thought maybe I should give it to you for the Windblume Festival.”
You smiled softly. “Yeah, it really is beautiful. Thank you so much, Albedo!”
“You too!”
“Oh yeah, tell Sucrose I said hi!”
=================================
“K-Kaeya??”
“Why if it isn’t the Lady Silk Flower herself, y/n!”
“Please stop calling me that...”
Kaeya was that flirtatious knight, as well as Diluc’s brother. He would always be at Diluc’s winery to drink together with Venti and Rosaria. He’s not really there to buy flowers, more so of your osmanthus wine you sold, but he’s not really a regular customer, nor was he a rare visitor. Usually in the evening. But as charming as he is, why did he want to learn poetry when he’s a natural at being a poetic and constructive flirter?
“Well, Venti, what do you say?”
“Deal!”
You groaned internally. Great, now there’s homework.
“So, Silk Flower, what are you going to be writing about?” Kaeya asked as he gave you a playful smirk.
As much as this guy was pulling at your nerves, you couldn’t help but swoon internally of how fine he looks. That damn knight.
“Love,” you said as your facial features remain stoic.
“Ahahaha! Oh you!”
There was a comfortable silence between the both of you.
“Why not tomorrow at seven in the evening I invite you over to the Dawn Winery? Hm?~ Don’t worry, the drinks are on me.”
“I don’t really drink, but, if you want, I can bring a bottle of my family’s osmanthus wine?” you offered.
He simply let out a soft chuckle before he used his hand and gently grab your chin and tilted you up to face him.
“I just want you, though.~”
You blushed a crimson red before you pushed him away. “Oh shush! You want my wine or not?!”
“Of course , of course!” he laughed
Geez.
=================================
“Hm?”
“Surprise!”
Dawn Winery was filled with all the familiar faces. From Diluc to Sucrose and even Albedo was there, smiling.
“What’s going on?”
“It’s a thank you party of course!”
“Thank you party?”
“Yes,” now Diluc got your attention, “Before Windblume, I saw you working day in and out to import and export flowers, and of course your family wine. We just wanted to thank you and that we appreciate your hard work, y/n. You’re flowers and presence really freshen and lighten our day.”
“Mhm! Now come sit down and be merry with us, y/n!” Venti exclaimed with that drunk smile of his.
“You-you guys...you really didn’t have to do this.”
“Of course we had to, y/n,” Jean smiled warmly.
Barbara nodded. “Yeah! You deserve it!”
Albedo simply nodded.
“But-”
Diluc cut you off as he pat your head to which you instantly shut up and looked at him with a slightly red face.
“Yes. Yes you do, y/n. Now, let us enjoy this moment together. All of us.”
Now he really smiled.

Genshin Boys With A Dense Crush (Part 2)
Here is part 2~ so, the reason why I didn't include Bennett and Razor is the fact that I can never write for them, like IDK why but its just very hard for me. So yeah, sorry about that. Part 1 (Albedo, Childe and Diluc)
Tumblr media
Chongyun
Dense + Dense = more dense
It was painfully obvious that Chongyun likes you but for some reason, he can’t quite figure that out for himself
But everyone around them knows
Xingqiu is actually on the road to writing a book about the two of you
Xiangling, Xinyan, Hu Tao, and Yan Fei are betting on how long until Chongyun realizes his feelings
Chongyun doesn’t know why he likes to see you every day, wants to have meals with you, and why he gets uncomfortable when he sees you with another person and smiling at them
Maybe it was the work of g-
“Oh I like them” -Chongyun one day when he woke up
He consulted his best friend Xingqiu about this and Xingqiu just placed his books down and said “dear archons finally, it was getting very painful to watch”
So the two started planning a cute little confession scenario
Somewhere Xinyan and Yan Fei are crying because they lost the best but Yan Fei is arguing that betting was illegal and has no ground in the law… Yan Fei, you betted with your conscience please stop
Anyway!
The pair of best friends decided to go with a simple type of confession because less is more in Xingqiu’s books
It was going so well, a cute dinner and all of that
“I like you Y/N, can we be more than that?”
Oh is that Xingqiu, Xiangling, Xinyan, Hu Tao, and Yan Fei spying on both of you from the bushes? Why, yes indeed.
“You want to be best friends Chongyun? But don’t you have Xingqiu as your best friend already?” - you with your ever so innocent voice and expression
Chongyun is frozen in place
Xingqiu, Xiangling, Xinyan, Hu Tao and Yan Fei are betting again this time how many times will Chongyun get a friendzone
Tumblr media
Kaeya
Someone revive him
He can’t take your dense nature anymore
This is Kaeya after all everything he does allude to something so WHY WON'T YOU GET IT STILL
“Oh, Kaeya? You like someone!? Can you introduce me to them?” - you asking excitedly upon hearing his and Rosaria’s conversation
Kaeya was pretty sure he was describing you
Rosaria is holding back her laugh, she can't breathe… SOMEONE SAVE HER
“I love them but this dense attitude is too much!” - Kaeya as he slams his fist on top of Diluc’s bar
“Have you tried wooing them?” - Diluc as his wiping a glass down, he's so nonchalant about this situation LMAO
“HAVE I TRIED?” - Kaeya sounding very offended
“How about getting a white bed sheet and painting “will you marry me Y/N” on it?” - Rosaria
“Yeah, they leave me no ch-”
“Sit down, don’t embarrass yourself like a child” - Diluc pushing his brother down to sit
“HOW WILL I GET MY FEELINGS ACROSS THOUGH!”
“Just confess, normally… like… a normal person” - Diluc
Kaeya decided that in two days time he was going to confess to you, two days because he needed to make sure it was perfect
But the moment he saw you laughing with some random guy all the planning was thrown out the window
“Meet me in front of the church when the sun rises” - Kaeya to you when he passes by you at the corridor of the headquarters
When you arrived, he made you stand at the flight of stairs in front of the church while he went down
He kneeled with his right knee touching the ground and he pulled a very neatly folded white sheet from his pocket
He unraveled it and wrote, “WILL YOU MARRY ME Y/N?”
But even before you can react a thunderous shouting can be heard and a chuckle
“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!? I SAID CONFESS NORMALLY!” -Diluc
Tumblr media
Thoma
I’m going to try but still little info on this new pyro husband
Thoma is a very understanding boy
He likes you so much that he's willing to wait
But damn has he been waiting long
He decided he was going to confess to you today as well!
“Y/N! I like you!” - Thoma
“I like you too! You are like my best friend!” - you
Every time this happens Thoma stress eats.
Ayaka is giggling because he has never seen her friend like this
He's trying his best for you to like him, he cooks for you, takes care of you, guards you, protects you…
WHAT IS HE DOING WRONG!?
“You know the festival is ongoing” -Ayato as he watches his sister’s friend mop around like a puppy who has been kicked. “Why don’t you try confessing properly and straight-forwardly there?”
That gave him an idea
He dragged to the talisman-wishing thing and told you that you two should make one
When the both of you were done, you should each other what you made and to your surprise, Thoma made a drawing of the both of you holding hands
“It’s not us being best friends forever” - he clarified
“It’s me hoping to spend many more years beside you as your lover.”
Tumblr media
Venti
Barbatos aka Venti the Bard has been singing a lot of love songs lately
Especially when you were in the audience watching
He always likes your smile especially when you were watching him
So when the two of you were strolling around near the church of Monstad
He decided that he was going to confess today
Years of being alone and he finally get what Vanessa told him about meeting the right person
“Y/N, I love you-”
“Aww, Venti, I love you too!”
“Really?!” - Venti very excitedly
“Yeah! I love you as a friend! We’re like besties!”
Dvalin felt that
Andrius felt that
Hell even Vanessa felt that from Celestia
“Oh I got to go, bestie, I have something to do! See you tomorrow!”
Lately, the winds of Monstad have been depressing?
“I don’t understand! I thought they liked me back!” Venti his chugging his alcohol while Diluc looked at him in irritation
Diluc wants to kick him out but Venti is Monstad’s archon so he decided against it
“Venti! There you are!” - you
Venti hears your voice and because his drunk his happy instead of upset
He throws himself at you in an attempt of a sloppy hug
“Y/N! I love you~”
“I love you too, we are fr-”
“NO! I LOVE YOU LIKE A SIGNIFICANT OTHER I LOVE YOU! THAT TYPE OF LOVE THAT IF YOU ASK ME TO FIGHT MORAX I WOULD!”
Tumblr media
Xiao
When Xiao first had these feelings he was confused
He lived a long life and this was the first time in his life where when he sees someone his chest becomes constricted and warm
“Xiao! Do you like traveler!?” - you excitedly
Xiao felt a tightening in his chest not that good type but am i being stab right now type of tightening
His answer would usually be along the lines of no and he can’t have relationships with mortals
He usually has a lot more patience with you compared to others but hearing you say that he looks good with someone else just made something in him snap
He didn’t mean to shout at you nor did he mean it when he said you should leave him alone
That’s why he's waiting for you at Wangshun Inn, his loneliness grew into worry when after 2 days you weren’t back yet
Upon eavesdropping around he also found out that no one has seen you and your last known location was Mt. Hulao and he immediately began to worry because that place was prohibited to humans
“Are you looking for someone?” - Mountain Sharper appeared behind Xiao as he reached the top of Mt. Hulao. “Are you looking for a mortal perhaps?”
“How did-”
“-That mortal is pretty noisy, they don’t stop talking and they know you.”
Oh, the warm feeling in his chest is back because they were talking about him which means that they weren’t angry at him!
“Where are they!?” Xiao would realize and I swear to you his ready to break every amber rock around Mt.Hulao
“Calm down, they are currently collecting Qingxin flowers”
Right on cue, “XIAO!? IS THAT YOU!?” he heard your voice from behind him, when he saw you, he immediately rushes to you and hugs you
“What are you doing here!?” Xiao would ask, his voice was raised only because of relief
“Oh, I got lost! And Moon Sharper here saw me, we ended up chatting and I guess I forgot the time, he shared so many stories about y- WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE THAT ARE YOU HURT!?”
“I’m alright… I just… I m-miss…”
Moon Sharper is just looking at this scene and he knows he's about to spill the hottest tea next time the adeptus (idk plural form okay) have a dinner party
Tumblr media
Xingqiu
At first glance, it might look like that he isn’t affected at all
But internal his boiling
WHY WERE YOU SO DENSE
IF IT WEREN’T FOR HIS CLAN'S TEACHING AND WHAT NOT HIS PROBABLY ABOUT TO ASK YOU FOR A FIGHT
“You’ll make a great husband someday Xingqiu, I know it! Your future wife would be so happy!”
“I want you to be my wife though”
“What was that?”
“NOTHING!”
He knows he needs to move so he can win your heart but how can he when you were dodging every advance he makes
What is more frustrating is that YOU ARE NOT EVEN DOING IT ON PURPOSE
As an author he wants to experience romance first hand, so he tries to be romantic about it but this was frustrating
He decided to pull his last technique from his sleeves
He lent you a very romantic book and between one of the pages he inserted a paper that read “I wish for you to be my muse.”
If that doesn’t work Xingqiu is going to ask you to fight him
Tumblr media
Zhongli
Zhongli, Rex Lapis aka Morax has lived thousands of years
Yet this is the first time he encountered someone so dense at first he taught you were just kidding and pretending but when he described what he likes in someone which was pertaining to you
You simply said “WOW THEY SOUND WONDERFUL AND YOU MUST REALLY LIKE THEM BECAUSE YOU SOUND SO IN LOVE” at his face with genuine awe, there was no sign of you being flustered and whatnot
Hu Tao was there to witness this and the younger female had a good laugh when she witnessed this
Zhongli is now praying to Guizhong for help and patience
He first wondered if the reason for such behavior was because you dislike him but it wasn’t the case because you would always smile when you see him
Which makes his knees very weak
In heaven, all the dead gods are laughing at him
He has lived for so many years and yet he doesn’t know what to do because he wants to spend years with you
But a part of him says this isn’t right because his an immortal and you were a mortal, someday him being a former god would drive an enigma in the future
That’s why he was also hesitating on his part
“Zhongli, look-look! A merchant from Monstad gave me a Cecilia!” - you snapping him from his thought, he's a tall man so you had to tip-toe to put the flower in his hair
“There you look even prettier now!” - you smiling up to him
As you were withdrawing your hand, Zhongli grabs it and places it in front of his lips
“I love you Y/N”

Tumblr media
"it’s strange to see you so drunk, and somewhere that isn’t the Angel’s Share, either,” remarked Kaeya, slipping into the barstool beside you. There wasn’t much that you could clearly make out in your tipsy haze ––really, Diona had done what you asked, you supposed–– but you could see the smirk and quirk of his brow.
“Can it,” you grumbled, taking a hold of your half-empty drink. “I’m really not in the mood tonight, Kaeya.”
He said nothing, merely watching with interest as you downed the entire drink and brought the cup back to the wooden countertop with a clack. The longer he looked at you, the more he could see the slump of your shoulders and the greyish pallor of your skin. Your hair was in disarray and the typical quirk of your lips that he was so fond of was nowhere to be seen, either. Kaeya’s smirk quickly flipped into a frown.
“How the hell did you even find me, anyway?” you asked, side-eyeing him.
He shrugged, “If i answer your question, will you answer one of mine?”
You pursed your lips and looked away from him, thinking, but after a moment it seemed to him as if you slumped forward, the fight gone out of you. Mutely, you nodded.
”A certain sister of the church found me and told me there was something in the Cat’s Tail I had to take care of,” he revealed. Under your breath, you grumbled Rosaria’s name. “Your turn. What are you doing here? I thought being a connoisseur of alcohol was my defining trait.”
You sighed, tracing the rim of your glass as if you were figuring how to word it around your alcohol-addled brain. Eventually, you settled on, “The guy I liked... I found out that he was interested in someone else.”
“Oh?”
You sighed, looking away from him and missing the disappointment that flashed across the cavalry captain’s face. You... had liked someone else? Kaeya would be lying if he hadn’t felt his own heart sink at your admission.
“It was just a crush, really,” you continued with a deep sigh,”But I... I don’t know, I really liked him, and I thought he liked me too. I must have just been seeing what I wanted to see, I suppose.”
Silence enveloped the two of you after that, neither of you two willing to break it. Slightly sobered from the conversation, you ordered a glass of water from the bar. After he seemed to think it over, Kaeya cleared his throat, and your eyes darted to him. “If I may ask, who was it?”
You scoffed in amusement, shaking your head. You braced your arm on the counter, and your other hand began to play with the water you ordered. “Take a guess,” you invited. “It’s pretty obvious if you think about it long enough.”
Kaeya furrowed his brow and took the challenge, falling silent as his eye darted across your person, no doubt replaying almost every interaction he’s seen you have with other people and picking through it with a fine-toothed comb. After some time, his eye widened as he stared at you with barely-hidden surprise. You chuckled.
“No. Impossible.”
You hummed. “Not as impossible as you may think.”
“You were attracted to Diluc? Color me surprised, I didn’t think he was your type.”
“I suppose not,” You inclined your head in agreement, but fixed him with a small, mischievous smile that he had sorely missed. “But I have to admit, that one night with his hair up and in his bartending suit? Something that lived in my mind for days to come.”
Kaeya gagged beside you, lightly pushing on your shoulder. “I don’t need to hear your fantasies about Diluc, of all people,” He said, which elicited a chuckle from you, and you playfully shoved him back as well.
Kaeya sighed, resting his cheek on his fist. He fixed you with a gaze that, although was still fond, held some melancholy as well. “I can’t help but regret not making my interest in you known sooner. Perhaps you wouldn’t be drinking your night away like this.”
You choked on your drink, barely managing to swallow it when you turned to your companion with wide eyes and a warm face. It felt as if most of the alcohol still in your system had suddenly just evaporated at his admission. Your heart had kicked into overdrive, it seemed, but it was as if your blood had halted in your veins. Did he just––?
“You’re...serious.” Although it came out flat in your surprise, he could still hear the question in it.
“As a heart attack,” Kaeya confirmed with a small smile that was too confident despite how he had just laid his feelings out for you to see.
You took a breath and looked down at your hands, a frown on your face. “I’m sorry for not noticing sooner,” you said quietly, but he just shook his head.
“It’s no fault of yours.”
Once again, silence lapsed your conversation. Strangely though, despite the recent topic, it wasn’t tense. You would even dare call it comfortable. However, after you thought it over, you hesitantly spoke up.
“If you... If you still want to, I mean, I would be happy to return your affection.” It was quieter than he usually heard from you, and the heat that had appeared earlier had all but grown, but Kaeya could still hear the genuineness in your words. Subtly, he could feel his heart pick up, and a heat of his own appeared on his face.
“Not immediately, obviously!” you added in a rush when he didn’t say anything, waving your hand frantically as if to explain. “It wouldn’t be fair to you if we went out and I was still working through... you know. But...” You trailed off, gaze once more going to your glass of water. “I’m willing to make this work, If you’re willing to wait for me.”
When you looked back at him, you were prepared to be met by contemplation, by him weighing the pros and cons of waiting for you to sort through and recover from your feelings, or even outright rejection. Instead, Kaeya had a wide, genuine smile on his face, and his eye glittered as if you had given him the greatest gift. Under the light of the bar and the moonlight filtering through the window, you couldn’t help but admire how beautiful he was.
In the most sincere tone you had heard from him, all charm and slyness gone, he said, “For however long it will take you to feel ready, I would wait patiently by your side.”
It was difficult to tamp your flustered laugh down, but you managed, gifting him with a smile instead. “You’re too sweet, Kaeya. But thank you for being patient with me.”
“It’s my pleasure.” And just like that, his typical smile had reappeared, though the slight blush on his skin hadn’t diminished. With all the grace of a cat, he got off his stool and stood beside you, his hand outstretched, his smile only having grown.
“Now, the time is late, and I do believe you’ve had much to drink,” He said, practically glowing in the light. “Surely, as the esteemed Cavalry Captain, I can’t let you go home alone. Would you like me to accompany you?”
You actually did chuckle at him this time, shaking your head in amusement, but little did you know that knowing he had brought a smile to your face after seeing how saddened you were earlier–– it made his head feel light. You took his hand in yours, allowing him to pull you off your seat.
“I would love that.”

this is from a prompt but it didn't work out so now its own thing.
Rosaria miss places her Ciggarets and Kaeya gets lectured.
few notes:
I have an AU where Kaeya and Rosa knew each other since childhood so they are much more at ease with each other here than they would in canon
this is an 'attempt' at writing from me lol and I'm not a writer yet, so feel free to skip or send me any feedback!
don't expect great characterizations this is a mess ( think of it as someone who has never been into the kitchen before and something will probably go on fire )
If victoria has a death wish she should just ask.
Rosaria was already on her last thread of patience when she find her final hiding place had been caught, “as a sister you should set a good example for the citizens of Mondstadt, what would the ordinary people and the believers think when they know a sister form the church is smoking?”, It was already in the afternoon, Rosaria really, really was not in the mood, “I will let this be your last warning sister Rosaria, and I expect to see you in an hour” then she leaves.
“what a headache” this is the same old lecture for the same old reasons haven’t they learned what to expect by now? “I need a cigarette”.
Rosaria stepped out from the nearby window and then start walking, she already hid some more of her favorite wine and cigarettes elsewhere, the closest being in Kaeya’s office. She hides there and takes naps when she feels like it, entering through the window, she can see no one is inside, she should make this quick then.
Right when she gets her hand between the files, she can hear someone about to enter the office, and it was not kaeya's footsteps alone.
“The supplies are going somewhere and we still can’t get a clue where” that Jean’s Voice. “I assure you, master Diluc Involving the KoF is the right course of action”. Kaeya opens the door right when Rosaria hide in the shadows, she can immediately tell who has entered with him, the acting grand master and the owner of the angel share.
Kaeya walk further into his office adding to the exchange “the Informants we have should give us their updates within the next 12 hours, I’m on the case you don’t need to worry”. He pull one of his files, and all the messy cigarette packs Rosaria didn’t have the time to hide fell between his shoes… silent befall all three in the room.
“... what?” Jean says as what she is seeing starts catching up with her “KAEYA!?” and looks at him right in the eye bringing him back to focus “what are you- YOU ARE SMOKING?”
“seriously how many new addictions do you need,” Diluc says disapprovingly
“but since when?” Jean yells back, absolutely devastated, “ is it because of the load of work? Did I fail in noticing how pressured you are??”
Kaeya quickly hold his left hand in front of him, “Now hold on a second, I’m touched you care so much about me, but I assure you these are not mine”, both of them don’t look like they buy it, he glances to the window briefly then wave his hand to them “ and come on, its clearly someone's idea of a prank, use your Judgment here do I even look like a smoker? My taste is much more refined honestly, even if I was it won’t be a common brand and you know it”
All three exchange glances for longer than it should take
“... but do you feel like you are too pressured to even put the possibility of smoking?” there is no coming back, it's on Jean’s mind now, she probably thinks Kaeya did put them there for when it gets rough. “No Jean” he sight, “Jean I won’t smoke, I don’t even Like the smell or taste of it”, “your office does have a faint smell though,” Diluc said very unhelpfully, Kaeya grunted “I didn’t smoke Once in my life, and you were there for most of it” Jean moves to put a hand on Kaeya's Sholders “I do believe you” she clearly didn’t “ and you have to promise me we will talk about how you feel after you are done with your next assignment”, Kaeya Just looks at her, knowing when Jean just won’t put a matter to rest and know this will be a long, exhausting battle to convince his superior and brother he did not in fact smoke.
Rosaria didn’t even need to let her cigarette, hearing Kaeya going back to responding to their ridiculous claim, she know she is getting the first seat at the show today, he will ask her to join him in his ‘next assignment’ and they will talk about it then, for now, she is being entertained.

Home is Something You Make
This is a Kaeya fic from someone who doesn't like Kaeya all that much.
Parings: Kaeya x gn!reader, platonic!Kaeya x Rosaria
Content/trigger warnings: you aren't the traveler, pretty sappy ngl, I've realized I suck at dialogue so just, ignore it.
Kaeya doesn't use his house. If you've know him for long enough, this is a fact. However, what isn't as obvious, is Kaeya let's other people use his house, use his bed, bathroom, kitchen, etc.
His friends without homes, the traveler, Klee, Rosaria, anyone who needs it, can crash at his place whenever they need to. That's why he keeps it clean. It's why his master bathroom has collected dust but not his guest bedroom.
He is far to busy to use his own house. More often he's found stumbling into his house at 2am, crashing on the couch because he knows both beds are likely taken.
He meant to tell you of this predicament. But could never find the right time to bring it up. He knew you slept in late, you worked at night anyways. He knew if you were to ever sleep over, you would definitely run into someone that wasn't him. And he would have to awkwardly explain how a 6 foot tall vampire lady was upset you were sleeping in his bed. The bed that has the thick memory foam, and the silk sheets, the one both you and Rosaria are upset Kaeya doesn't use more often.
When he did eventually ask you over for dinner, he made sure everyone was out of the house before hand, much to their surprise.
He cooked you a nice dinner, and put up the front he felt he had to. He never meant to get this far with you actually. Rosaria had suggested he mess around with the hookup scene, telling him it would help relive stress. Only he doesn't think he did it right, because now he's in a relationship, one he doesn't want to get out of. One night stands had a key word, one night only this had lasted far more than that.
He was scared about a lot of things. He was waiting for you to find out his secrets and leave him, like anyone he'd tried to date before. But he didn't want you to leave, so he tried his best to hold that day off as long as he could.
When morning came Kaeya found it hard to get up. On any other day the sun would have bothered him enough to get ready, the dread of the days work enough for him to be on time. But you were next to him, and the annoying sun didn't look so annoying when it rested on your face, and how could anyone feel dread when they're with their love? So instead of getting ready, Kaeya opted to rest against you awhile longer.
Then he checked the time, and oh shit I have 15 minutes to get ready and he rushed out the door, forgetting to tell you about his other guests.
Something he also forgot to mention to said guests, was you. It wasn't like Kaeya was trying to keep you a secret. It's just that, a famous wondering traveler, a coldhearted vampire church lady, and a toddler who loves bombs can be very intimidating. And so he pushed introducing you to them out of his mind.
So both party's were unaware of each other's presence, that was until you had a polearm to your throat.
"Who are you? And why are you in the Calvary Captains house?" Rosaria stated in her usual harsh tone.
This had startled you awake. Not knowing who she was either. "I'm (y/n)? I, who are you?" Was the response you gave in the mists of rubbing sleep from your eyes, not even batting one at the weapon still hugging your throat.
"It doesn't matter who I am. You're in this house when you shouldn't be, so you need to leave." Rosaria didn't actually care who you were, all she knew is you were not on Kaeya's guest list.
"Huh? Kaeya invited me here though? We had dinner last night, and it was late by the time we finished, so he let me stay over." You tried to explain, you didn't know why Sister Rosaria was in Kaeya's house, they could be a couple, they could be friends, she for all you knew, could be raiding his house. However the latter seemed unlikely. She seemed to know she was allowed here, hence why she was questioning why you were here.
"Oh, so you're one of his one night stands? Still, there's no reason you should have stayed this long." Rosaria reluctantly withdrew her weapon, knowing you weren't likely to cause harm.
"Not really? I mean, I'm not sure what me an Kaeya are, but it's definitely not that." You laughed nervously, surely she should know about you if you were anything serious to Kaeya right? "We've gone of a couple dates, he's even been to my house, this is the first time he's invited me over to his though." You finished your explanation as you started to realize just how weird this predicament was.
"Hmph, alright then, but just so you know. If I find out you're lying, I'm not as merciful as the other sisters." She responded, walking out the door.
Kaeya had some explaining to do.
***
Kaeya realized halfway through his day that he forgot to warn you about his friends. So he tried to get home as quickly as possible, or at least before you left for work.
Luckily he made it, barely though. He caught you as you were getting dressed, but not before getting stopped by Rosaria.
"Hey just so you know, there's someone in there claiming they've 'gone on a couple dates with you' I left them alone, but if their lying I'll take care of them." She said from her position on the couch.
"Hm? There's no need, they're telling the truth, I actually need to talk to them, so excuse me." Kaeya responded before quickly walking to his bedroom.
"Oh, hello there. Um, there was a lady, I'm pretty sure she was sister Rosaria? But she put her polearm up to my throat, telling me I didn't belong here? I'm not sure what that was about." You laughed lightly when you saw him.
"I know, I'm sorry, so sorry. I meant to tell you, there's more people who stay here actually." He muttered the last bit. "I was just in a rush this morning."
"I have friends who stay over, they don't exactly, have anywhere else to stay? I'm not sure, it's not my business to pry, but I let them stay whenever they need to. So if we're going to do, this," he gestures towards himself then you, "more often, I should probably warn you about that."
"Ooohh, okay, that's fine, actually that's very sweet of you Kaeya. Just a warning would have been nice, on both ends actually. A Polearm to the throat isn't the most peaceful ways to wake up." You point out with a chuckle, and he joined you.
After the laugher died down he took you in his arms and kissed you before muttering "I'm glad you understand."
***
"Getting sappy huh captain?" Rosaria stated as he closed the door behind you.
"Hm, maybe." He thought pensively.
"This isn't what I meant by a hookup." She retorted back.
"Oh I know, I have a knack for messing things up, though I'm sure you know that." He responded, looking into her eyes.
"They seem... nice, to nice almost. They didn't even bat an eye when I put my spear to their throat." She pointed out before yawning.
"They're like that, not afraid of weapons when they know the confrontation can be handled with words, even if the other party doesn't want to use them." He explained, how he knew is a story for another time.
"Hm respectable. You seem to like them a lot, otherwise you wouldn't have brought them over." She quipped.
"Yeah, they. Yes, they mean a lot to me." Kaeya said.
And he realized his house wasn't a home until you walked in.

Your Soon to be Husband's admire destroy your wedding day. (Feat Kaeya, Diluc, and Albedo.)
This is the day you have been waiting for. Your wedding day! You got into your wedding dress and a veil covering your face. Your heart keeps racing. Imagine your lives with your beloved. Seeing yourself in the wedding dress also makes you want to cry.
“Aw~ Don’t cry, (Y/n). You will mess up your make-up. Besides he will also be worried if you cry on such a joyful occasion.” Barbara cheer you up.
“That’s right! So wipe out that tears and walk out there proudly!” said Lisa with a soft smile. You also smile gratefully at them. You wipe out your tears.
“You right... I’m sorry I’m getting overwhelmed for a sec.”
“Are you ready?” Jean asks from the door.
“More than ready.” I give her my big smile. As the door to the church starts to open, I can see my beloved already waiting at the altar. I walk slowly towards him.
He reaches his hand and I take it. He looks at me with such a dazzling smile. As the ceremony process, the priest is just a minute away to announce that we are official husband and wife until one interruption destroys the whole reception.
Tumblr media
KAEYA ALBERICH
“STOP THIS WEDDING AT ONCE!” A high pierced voice can be heard inside the church. People start to murmur when the girl walks in with a belly that looks like she is pregnant.
“Kaeya! How could you! You said you will marry me! We even already plan to have a child together! THIS IS YOUR CHILD IN MY BELLY, KAEYA!” The girl starts to scream non-sense. Y/n look lost at what is she talking about and apparently Kaeya too.
“I’m sorry, miss? But do I know you?” Come Kaeya's response.
“Don’t use that tone on me. young man! After so many memories we have together! You- You will leave for this sl*t?! Is she threatening you to marry her?!”
Y/n face already fell down when she noticed their wedding days are ruined now. Kaeya looks at Y/n and gets even angrier at the sight of her tears.
“Look... I’m don’t really know you. So could you please leave? You upsetting my WIFE.” said Kaeya while hugging you.
“HOW DARE YOU?! AFTER WHAT YOU DONE TO ME?! I WOULD NEVER ACCEPT THIS WED-” The sound of something sharp can be heard getting thrown in the weird girl's direction.
The kunai can be seen stuck to the floor and right on cue... The tie in the girl's dress is cut and one big balloon comes out from it. It depleted her suppose to be the pregnant belly.
“It looks like, Mr.Popular here has a secret admirer that didn’t like him to get married to his beloved. She even does a thing as far as pretending to be pregnant. This is certainly what Lord Barsibato will never agree on.”
“Sister Rosaria?!” Rosaria came to walk in from some dark corner with a Kunai in her hands. She is the one that has been throwing that Kunai to reveal that girl's evil scheme. Rosaria keep walking towards the Altar, plucks the book from the priest, and pushes him out.
“This is what happens if you take too much time just to make an announcement. I pronounce you, husband and wife. Now kiss and go on your honeymoon to make it more official. As for you little girl. Did you still want to stand there and watch?” Rosaria said with her cool attitude.
The girl's face is red with embarrassment. It also didn’t help that some people laughed at her and mocked her. With tears, she turn around and left.
You give a sigh of relief. Sure this is not a perfect day anymore but you not gonna complain.
“I love you, Y/n...”
“I love you too...”
Tumblr media
DILUC RAGVANDIR.
Donna comes running inside the church and gets in front of Diluc.
“Master Diluc! You didn’t really want to marry this girl, right? I love you more than anything in this world. Surely you see that my love for you is bigger than her, right?!” Donna said with such panic in her eyes. Realizing that the wedding is no joke. Diluc looks at her with such cold eyes.
“I don’t even know you. What makes you think I harbor a feeling for you?” diluc said coldly. He takes notice of your solemn face and realizes that your wedding is basically ruined because of this woman.
“Leave. You making my wife uncomfortable and I much prefer that in the future, you stay away from my tavern and winery. At least until you see a doctor.” Diluc answered with a glare.
Donna can’t take this rejection. She starts to wail at Diluc feet until something wet is being thrown at her. All look in the direction and behold, the one that throws it is non-other than Diona.
“Leave, you stingy old lady! You destroyed this wedding with that ugly attitude and tears! You delusional lady!”
“HOW DARE YOU?!”
Soon a flock of cats starts to attack Donna forces her to get outside the church with a panicked scream. Diona looks very proud of what her fellow cat does until she realizes the attention is on her.
“WHAT ARE YOU ALL LOOKING AT?! THE COUPLE IS RIGHT OVER THERE! And don’t get me wrong! I didn’t help because I want to, okay?! She hurt my ears with that wailing and screaming. Hmph!”
The wedding soon resumed. This time the workers from Dawn Winery make sure to stand guard outside to make sure there is no more interruption to their Master and soon to madam.
Tumblr media
ALBEDO.
The girl comes in with a wedding dress. A WEDDING DRESS! A much more unique dress with a long veil. She starts to smile very big like nothing is wrong at all.
“Mr.Albedo~ I’m here~ Oh! I think you all confused the Bride. You see, I’m more fitting to be Mr.Albedo wifey~ I’m much more beautiful and smart and talented-”
“What are you wearing?” Albedo's voice can be resonated through the church.
“I’m glad you asking, darling~ This is the wedding dress that I make by myself. See... I’m quite a designer, don’t you agree-”
“Take it off.” The silence can be followed. The girl froze hearing Albedo's word.
“Ex-Excuse me?”
“Hm... Perhaps that order is still so hard for you to understand. I said take off that... Rags and throw it to the garbage ban outside the church. Surely that simple order is easy for people to understand.”Albedo said coldly. His eyes wander to Y/n face and notice that beautiful smile is already gone from there. He furrowed his eyebrow.
“R-rags?! This comes from the highest material that I order from Liyue! How dare you said it was a rag!” Some bombs start to light up around her and she can only scream. After the smoke is gone, that once proud dress she wears is no more. The dress is getting destroyed. Some of the parts even got the dust from the bomb. Klee stands proudly looking at her works.
“Now it’s a rag! Leave before Klee starts to blow up your face too. Nobody destroys my big brother and big sister wedding!”
The girl leaves crying and keeps saying how Albedo broke her heart. Albedo didn’t really hear it.
“Humans are such a weird creature... It always baffled me how they would do something useless like that.” You laugh at his statement. Albedo smiled softly at your voice before capturing it in the kiss.
“Uh... I pronounce you husband and wife.”
The bell in the church rang so beautifully, signaling that a new journey will start for this newlywed.
If you like my writing maybe you can buy me a coffee? Thank you~

Poem
A/N: I’m back! With another Kaeya fic. This is technically set during the Windblume Festival with certain changes. I hope you all enjoy <3.
This could also be read as a sequel to: Forfeit (Kaeya x AFAB!Reader). It doesn’t have to be read before this one really since you aren’t really missing much. You can if you want.
Pairing: Kaeya x Reader
Summary: Kaeya convinces you to write a poem during the Windblume Festival. You refuse to show it to him after hearing his ‘poem’ and avoid him for the rest of the day until you were unable to.
CW: Mentions of alcohol
“Why don’t you try and write a love poem then?” he asked. A teasing smile on his face.
“My way with words is incomparable to yours,” you said. He was the most convincing person that you knew. There was a reason that he was so loved. Just from speaking with him for a little while, a person would totally be enraptured by him. A charming man, truly.
“Didn’t you write that one riddle when I had to arrest those treasure hoarders? The one that could’ve been out of a romantic novel,” he said.
“I was inspired,” you mumbled. That whole setup had been some of your finest work. The maps and the riddles were something that you had dedicated some time to. Of course, he’d given a lot of guidelines as to how they should be. You’d just done a lot of the creative work. Everything just fell into place so well for him in the end. The dinner you earned was nice as well.
“Then be inspired again. I’ll show you mine if you write one and show me,” he said.
A fair trade you supposed as you took a piece of paper. The poem came easier to you than you expected. Maybe your own heart did have some inspiration that you did not desire to admit.
“That’s what you were writing this entire time?” you asked after his poem was read out loud by Venti. You were tightly holding onto your own poem, wrinkling its prior smoothness. Whatever thoughts you had in mind of sharing your own poem had vanished into thin air.
“Poetic, no?” he asked. You glared at him. Poetic? Sure. A love poem? No. Beyond that, when did he even have time to learn the language of the Hilichurl?
“I feel like I have to fail you for this,” said Venti, confused by what he had read.
“Please do,” you said.
“Did you write a poem, (Y/N)?” asked Paimon, pointing at the piece of paper in your hand. Everyone’s eyes turned to you and you could see how the Captain was smiling. Embarrassment filled your body as you folded it quickly and shook your head. He would not manage to win.
“Nope! This is just a list of things I have to do at the moment. Now, if you’ll excuse me!” You stored the poem in your dress as you left the room and the building. You’d rather be outside and help out there than remain within the same room as Kaeya.
---
“Lumine!” you said as you saw her a while later. You’d been helping out Noelle with carrying around some materials that were needed for the festival. But your friend was much faster and stronger than you were so she was probably at the destination.
“(Y/N)! Captain Kaeya asked us to search for you! He wants to talk to you,” said Paimon.
“Oh? He couldn’t search for me himself?” you asked. A question that probably sounded meaner than you intended it to.
“He said he was too busy finishing up some paperwork for Jean,” answered Lumine, “So we came looking for you.
“You’re too kind. No wonder you’re an Honorary Knight. But I can’t go right now.” You continued, “Tell him that I can speak with him later.” You really did not want to see him. You felt...slightly hurt. You weren’t even sure why you were. Actually, you did know why you were upset. You just didn’t want to admit it. In truth, you had hoped that his poem would actually have meaning. Unrealistically and stupidly, you had hoped that his poem might’ve been a confession.
But that was the thing about your relationship with him. It was more of something that you were walking in the dark, with no real designation of whether or not you were going in the right direction, and hoping that you end up at the right place. For all you knew, Kaeya was probably waiting for the day that he’d drop you and move onto the next one. Even with that possibility, you continued giving your heart to him. Whether that was stupid or not, you were still not fully sure. Some days it was worth it and others, not so much.
“We could help you so that you can talk with him. He said it was urgent,” explained Lumine. You didn’t doubt that he had told her that. He probably believed that if you were told that it was urgent, you’d drop everything and run to see what he wanted to see. You usually did but you felt that you had to hold your ground for a while longer.
“Don’t worry about me, okay? I’ll talk to him when I can. He’ll understand,” you said. You bid them farewell and continued carrying the crate.
---
You’d managed to avoid him for most of the day. That was until you were called to Angel’s Share and asked to take him home. When you asked why they couldn’t, excuses came flying at you. Sister Rosaria said that she couldn’t as she had business to take care of and Diluc couldn’t either since he had to close up the place. Convenient that they both chose to do that now.
“Thank you, (Y/N).” You only mumbled a ‘no problem’ in response to Diluc’s gratitude as you pulled Kaeya to lean on your shoulder. The promise of free drinks motivated you to get the job done quickly.
“(Y/N)-” “Captain, be quiet. I would prefer if you didn’t get sick on me,” you cut him off. The walk back to his apartment was a hassle. It was either that he continued trying to ramble to you or that he was leaning too much on you and you had to take small breaks. You truly were exhausted from those crates earlier.
“Where’s your key?” you asked when the two of you stopped in front of his door. A fruitless question as his mind was somewhere else you would soon realize.
“How come you didn’t come to me when I asked earlier?” he asked. You didn’t answer as you checked both his pockets and fished out the key from the left one. To ask the question again would probably cause him to start talking about something else and you most definitely did not want to talk about anything.
“(Y/N),” he said.
“What?” Your voice sounded more angry than you meant. You pushed the door open and kicked it to close when the both of you got through. You sat him on his bed and started to look around the cabinets for a glass to fill it with water.
“Have you been ignoring me?” He sounded hurt. A rare sight to ever behold when he was constantly brushing everything off. Kaeya was rarely a vulnerable person. Years of having built up the walls around him to keep people out led him to being closed off from everyone. The fewest times that he was vulnerable was in the dead of night or when he was drunk. Every single thing that he ever expressed during those times had been stored into your heart.
“I’ve been busy today,” you answered as you handed him the glass of water. You turned to start looking for some clothes for the night. You doubted that he’d appreciate sleeping in his work outfit.
“That’s never stopped you before,” he countered as he drank the water. No response came from you since you knew him to be right. There was one time where you had to finish up something for Lisa and stopped doing it because he’d bothered you enough to do something for him. The librarian was upset and you only barely learned your lesson.
“Was it because of my poem?” You wondered how he even managed to figure that out.
“Maybe,” you said, “I just expected a bit more from you.” The poem that you had written for him was still in one of your dress pockets and felt like a stone that weighed on you. You’d poured a bit of your heart into it and the courage to give it to him withered away when Venti read his poem.
“I wrote an actual one,” he said. You placed some clothes on the nightstand and turned to look at him.
“Is that so?” you asked. You steadied him from falling over after you made your question. Just how much alcohol did he consume? The tab he had must be astronomical. Maybe not as bad as Venti’s or what yours had been at one point, but it had to be huge. Though you were jealous of his ability to remain coherent enough with everything in his system.
“Yes,” he said, “It’s here.” He pulled out a folded sheet of paper from his shirt. “Read it,” he said as he pushed the paper into your hands.
You shook your head. For all you knew, it could be another joke and you weren’t sure that you could handle it. At least not with him looking at you while you read it. “Let’s get you to bed, Kaeya.”
“But I want you to read it,” he whined.
“And I want you to sleep because you’re drunk,” you said.
After you’d spent some time convincing him to change and to get ready for bed, you sat down at the edge of the bed and opened up the paper. He’d fallen asleep rather quickly and you breathed a sigh of relief as your eyes traveled to the first words on the paper.
“(Y/N),” began the poem.
---
In the early morning, Kaeya woke up with a mild headache. Memories of the day before were hazy as the hangover hit him hard. He looked at his nightstand and saw a glass of water and a small bottle of medicine.
Beside the nightstand was a small piece of paper. On it, there were three words: To My Captain.

divine intervention | venti
Tumblr media
✧ word count: 2.5k
✧ summary: baring witness to world can become wearisome. venti, though you don’t really know him, wants to help.
✧ warnings: really angsty with some fluff thrown in! the reader has depression / there is self-deprecation. reader is also afab!
✧ a/n: this is so sweet >-< . i’m really proud of this one! also, writing klee is literally the funnest thing ever lol. <3 hope you guys enjoy!!
Teyvat, as you’d come to learn through your years, was a dangerous, merciless world. Every day, people lost their fathers, sisters, friends, and lovers. The world was full of greedy bandits and vicious monsters, and it only seemed to be getting worse as the days went by.
This last adventure out to Liyue had really taken the optimism out of you; Growing weary from traveling, you returned to your home in Mondstadt quite exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally. Was there any other facet of you that could be exhausted? Because you were sure that it would also be stricken with strife.
You told the Adventurer’s Guild that you were temporarily retiring from your work to take a well-overdue vacation from fighting and the ever-arising political strain you witnessed every time you left the City of Freedom. You just wanted to enjoy your safe corner of the world, at least for the summer.
The (admittedly strange) way you decided to do this was by staying indoors with your books, sometimes going entire days without once stepping into the sunlight. It was a pleasant way to spend the time, but you knew it was unhealthy.
Your books, when the main characters shared similar habits to you, called this behavior ‘depression.’ Though, you willfully ignored this, pretending that this was normal of someone with a heavy heart (just a heavy heart. Not all the other symptoms that you were falsely denying you had, like an aversion to engagements with friends, or a neglect of hydration.)
It was one of the hottest days in July, you remembered, when you heard a knock on your door. You contemplated answering it, thinking that maybe the Adventurer’s Guild would want you back to work prematurely. This was quickly disproven, though, when a small voice called from outside the door:
“Miss Y/N? Oh, Miss Y/N~! Please come out!”
Klee’s sweet voice seemed to somehow wrap itself around your heart and pull you towards the door.
“Miss Y/N?”
You hesitated, knowing that once you saw that endearing child’s round eyes, you would be forced to play outside with her for as long as she wanted you to. You loved Klee dearly, and would do anything for her, even if you didn’t necessarily wish to go along with it. But you really didn’t feel like leaving your house, knowing that the Freedom Festival was currently in full swing.
“Y/N? Are you in there?” You recognize a second voice to belong to Grandmaster Jean.
Inhaling deeply, you opened the door to see Klee’s face light up as she excitedly pulled on Jean’s hand.
“She opened the door! She did! I told you Y/N would open the door!”
“Y/N!” Jean said, obviously surprised by your appearance. “It’s so good to see you’re well.”
“It’s good to see you two, as well.” You said with full honesty. You hadn’t realized it until you saw them before you, but you had certainly missed seeing your friends.
“Y/N! I wanted to ask if you wanted to go to the Freedom festival with us! There’ll be food, and music, and I overheard Rosaria saying something to Kaeya about special drinks!”
“Oh… I don’t know…”
“Come on! It’ll be fun! They have this game, and it has a prize that looks like a biiiig dodoco! I want it but if you come you can have it!” Klee’s excitement makes a smile appear on your face.
“You should come, Y/N. It would be good for you, I think.”
You sighed a little, looking back at your book which sat with the pages down against the cushion of your reading chair, waiting to be returned to. But as if by design, the wind carried the smell of food into your door and your stomach rumbled. Besides, Klee’s eyes were bearing into your heart just as you predicted, and you could see Jean’s hand clasp onto Klee’s a little tighter in hopes that she wouldn’t be disappointed.
“Alright, I’ll come.”
If you were to be frank, you had no idea what the difference between the Windblume Festival and the Freedom Festival was. To you, it just seemed like another concocted excuse to party. Which, in your youth, you never complained about, and you weren’t inclined to complain now, either, as Sara handed you a particularly delicious-looking chicken and mushroom skewer. You hadn’t eaten something like this in a month, and it was very welcome in your stomach.
“Over there! It’s Venti! Venti!” Klee went running ahead of you and Jean, who were idly speaking to one another as you finished off your food and threw the stick away.
“Klee! Don’t run off!” Jean called out, running after the young girl while you walked a bit behind, enjoying the scenery of Mondstadt decorated in flowers and it’s streets lined with vendors.
“Hi Klee!” You looked up and saw a man hug Klee tightly (a boy? He was quite short, but you were pretty sure he was an adult.) It was hard not to notice the golden lyre in his hand and how the strings seemed to be luminescent. You’d never seen anything like it before, and accidentally stared at it in clear awe.
“Do you play?” He asked, a smile that seemed to lift your heart was directed to you after the question left his lips.
“No… Not anymore. I tried to learn when I was a child but…”
“That’s alright. It takes a lot of practice, yeah?”
You let out a breathy laugh and nod, “Yeah, I guess so.”
Jean scooped up Klee into her arms before she could run off again. “You two haven’t met before?”
“Sadly no.” Venti said, placing his hand over his heart. “I would’ve remembered such a beautiful face, surely.”
Bard’s and their sweet words. You thought to yourself. Out of kindness, you only laughed in response to his compliment.
“I’m Y/N.”
“Ahh! I’ve heard of you! The exceptional adventurer!”
Why does this guy say everything so enthusiastically? Is this what you used to sound like? His way of speaking, though you felt guilty for it because you knew he couldn’t help it, grated against your nerves. You weren’t in the right mindset for his optimism. Or, perhaps, it was that you were jealous that he still had a hold on his, and so easily too, while it had been so long since you were excited about anything.
When you didn’t say anything, there was a small look in Venti’s eyes that told you he could see right through you, or that he was at least aware that something was wrong with you.
“Well, I ought to be on my way back home.” You said, causing Klee to whine out.
“Y/N~! You can’t go yet! What about the giant dodoco?”
You frowned, feeling guilty for letting Klee down, but feeling too exhausted for any more socialization.
“At least stay for a song, Y/N?” Venti offered with a quieter tone of voice, pointing to a chair that was left unoccupied by the gathering crowd around him.
“Yeah! Just one song~?” Klee pleaded.
You bit the inside of your cheek before eventually nodding and sitting in the chair. Klee let out a cheer of celebration as Jean sat down beside you, letting Klee sit in her lap. You noticed how Jean had been particularly silent throughout this. Did she feel bad for you? Or did she, too, want you to stay for some reason?
“I’ll sing a very special song for a new friend!” Venti announced to the audience, to which you blushed a little at the attention and rolled your eyes. Though, once Venti’s fingers started gracing the strings of his harp, all feelings of discomfort and irritation floated away.
“Sit here closely, let me tell,
of the young maiden’s heart who one day swelled.
The once frozen walls, the once salty tears,
Now gone with a kiss that she wished had lasted years.
In the times of old, long before the gods were bold,
there was no remedy for a heart gone cold.
The young maiden wandered, hoping for peace
from the heartache and unrest the world did unleash.
Did she find it, you ask? Did she find it? I’ll tell.
She found it in freedom, from freedom it fell.
For Barbatos did bless her, from under the Windrise tree,
She only had to meet him in the morning at three.
The warmth she had searched for, that unlike she had ever known
was hers, finally, to own.”
The crowd clapped for Venti as he finished his short song, one that was unfamiliar to you and unsettled you to no end.
What was his motive?
You weren’t stupid. You’d read enough of your books in the last month and been on enough adventures with a multitude of twists and turns to know that he had just come up with that song for you. As beautiful as it was, you felt uncomfortable with the stranger being able to see through you so well.
Yet, when he flashed you a cheeky smile while he reveled in the applause, you felt that he had good intentions. In fact, you wondered if he could do any wrong. He just didn’t seem like the type to do anything evil… Ever.
“Did you like it, Klee?” Venti asked, bending down to talk to the girl who wriggled excitedly in Jean’s lap.
“Yes! It was sooooo pretty! I’ve never heard it before!” She gushed.
“A very lovely song, indeed, Venti.”
“Thanks Jean!” Venti flashed her a confident grin.
“Well, Y/N! Thanks for staying for the show!” He said, standing back up and turning to you. “I hope I can see you again soon!”
“Yeah. See you soon.” You replied with a half-hearted tone.
You were entirely conflicted. Your mind was telling you no; You shouldn’t go out there tonight. It was dangerous and you were significantly out of shape to be dealing with slimes and hilichurls. Besides, it was just a song… What if you were reading too much into it? And what if… You just wanted him to be singing about you and him?
Your heart wanted that to be true. It’d be like the books you’ve been reading, where the prince comes up with some elaborate way of asking the maiden to meet him in secret. You were, no matter how hardened you became, a hopeless romantic at heart. Something about Venti made your heart soar from the pits of depression you had fallen into. You… Trusted him.
You could do with a late-night walk, you supposed.
It took longer than usual because of the festivities, but the city eventually fell silent as everyone either rested in their beds or in a tavern. You found walking in the empty city strangely comforting. Rather than being shut away from the world out of fear of pestering others, you could now walk freely without a single care, if you so pleased.
You took your time walking out of the city, smiling at every stray cat and even stopping for a moment at the bridge to admire the water. You missed how, when you were a young girl, you used to look at the lake and dream about visiting all the other lakes in the world. You’d seen a lot of them, now, but this one still held a special place in your heart.
Windrise, though it had been years since you visited the Archon Statue, was as beautiful as ever. The tree looked even more alive in the moonlight, if it were possible.
You were raised to believe that you were under the protection of Barbatos, though you never would call yourself devout. That title belonged to the sisters of the church, who were truly faithful to Barbatos. But you would feel comfortable saying you were a believer. You liked that Barbatos was so just, and his famous story of his liberation of old Mondstadt was a tale you frankly would never tire of.
Regardless, as you sat in front of the statue, you saw no signs of the charming bard from before. You wondered if he memorized that tale of Barbatos; A part of you wanted to hear him tell it.
“I’m a fool, aren’t I?” You said, talking to the statue (not talking to yourself.) “A silly, odd, hermit of a fool. One who shuts themselves away and avoids all their problems. How cowardly can I be?”
A peculiar phenomenon began: The words started pouring out like an uncontrollable waterfall. Once the self-deprecation started, it didn’t seem to want to end.
“My family was so proud to hear I was a part of the guild. They said that you – that Barbatos – had blessed me with the life of an adventurer – a life of freedom. Am I selfish to despise it? I don’t feel free. I feel heavy with all the troubles of the world. Outside Mondstadt it’s… Well, you’re a god, you know how it is.”
You hadn’t spoken much to anyone in over a month. You didn’t even know if anyone was listening. Was he listening? Did he see the tears starting to run down your face and did he hear the cracking in your voice?
“I feel like a joke. A witness to trouble without the power to make things right. It’s so… Frustrating. I hate myself because I hate the world. I’m so useless… So useless.”
And you cried, your head leant against the statue of Barbatos. The months of pain finally bubbled over and bared itself for the world and the gods to see. You were ashamed, and angry at yourself, but you let yourself cry. You cried up to the heavens, to Celestia. Was he watching? Listening?
“Y/N?” A voice softly spoke your name, but your sobs turned into wails immediately following and you couldn’t make yourself stop even if you wanted to.  You felt a pair of arms wrap around you and you hugged Venti back, breathing in his scent of Cecilia. He was so warm compared to the cool summer breeze that blew through the leaves above.
“I’m sorry.” You cried against his shirt; the words muffled but still understandable. There were so many apologies you were making with the single phrase: Sorry for crying, sorry for being rude. Sorry for shutting everyone who cares about me out. I’m sorry for being ungrateful. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.
“You don’t have to hide your tears from me, okay?” His voice was so soft and gentle as he pulled your head away from his chest and wiped away your ever-flowing tears from your cheeks.
This went on for a while, him running his thumbs over your cheeks every few minutes and catching the tears. You felt so awful that he was witnessing you like this, he barely knew you. But something in you was saying that this was right. Trust him, this is where you’re meant to be.
You calmed down enough about an hour later that he felt he could speak.
“Everything will be alright, Y/N.”
You let out a jagged exhale. At this point, your jaw was numb, and you were developing a headache. Still, being in Venti’s arms brought you comfort unlike anything you’d ever experienced. It was… Divine.
“Do you think he heard me? That he’s watching over me?”
Venti gave you the most assured, comforting smile you think is humanly possible. Brushing your hair from your face, he replied.
“I’ve never been so certain of anything.”

may I request HCs for Albedo, Childe, Kaeya, Diluc and Xiao realizing their fem!darling is a yandere? like how would they feel and react?? ( i hope u don't make it too angst :(( ) - if u don't feel comfortable wrting this, i am deeply apologize, feel free to ignore this :<
stop it [albedo, childe, kaeya, diluc, xiao]
they find out their darling is a yandere! how will they fight to fix them?
tw: UNHEALTHY/TOXIC RELATIONSHIP, gore, violence, cuss words, manipulative behavior, obsessive and possessive behavior, murder
albedo x fem! reader, childe x fem! reader, kaeya x fem! reader, diluc x fem! reader, xiao x fem! reader
a/n: just a note that this behavior should not be romanticized and should not be followed! i believe that the boys would not condone this behavior either. sorry that this took a while nonnie! hope this is to your liking.
i would like to clarify that if any of these scenarios/hc's of mine are similar to other writers' works, it is unintentional and i apologize
not proof read
albedo
it came to him when he started picking up on your possessive behavior
he first found it quite unusual, how defensive you were when people–even his own students–pointed out how much you hogged the man to yourself
it was no secret you loved him, albeit maybe you did a little too much
for the first few days of this repetitive behavior of yours, he didn’t seem to take it too seriously, he even indulges your fantasies when he found the time to do so
calling him yours alone and how everyone wouldn't matter, just as his queen said
how foolish of him to feed into this obsessive mindset of yours, he now knows
the kreideprinz was a fearless man, never submitting even to the most nerve-wracking of consequences
you should earn an award for making him tremble
face to face with your gruesome figure, albedo hesitates to move
finally, you break the tension
“what’s wrong, my love? is something bothering you?” you ask, taking a step forward
“stay back. don’t you dare touch me- i-..” he grows speechless
you slowly retreated to your space, pouting
“is it this corpse? i’m sorry, but she was getting in the way! always asking about your whereabouts and such, truly a burden-”
“sucrose was my assistant! why the hell wouldn’t she ask about me?!” his heart rate quickened, the blond has never experienced this much terror in his life
you grew silent, taking in the chief alchemist’s words
he feels his heart drop to his feet when he sees you smile slowly
“well, there’s nothing we can do about it now, hm?” you hug albedo after throwing the bat you used to bash open your victim’s skull, tainted with putrid crimson
you laugh and bury your head in his chest but you notice droplets of water falling to your scalp
you look up at your quivering love and he stares back at you
“i’ll fix you, i’ll do whatever it takes to change those despicable temptations of yours and i’ll get you back, y/n.”
childe
childe was naturally clingy, never letting you out of his sight for more than two minutes. as a result, he didn't pick up on the subtle signs of your toxic behavior
what made him question this was your unreasonably foul attitude towards his family
one night, you and him visited his siblings in snezhnaya to have dinner
he was jubilant to say the least, the love of his life will finaly get the chance to meet the people he loved just as much as her!
"why are you so excited to see your siblings?" your question left him dumbfounded
did you not want to see them?
"well, y/n my dear, if there was anything i loved nore than you; it would be my beloved family!" he chuckles
when you reach his house, he's so excited that he misses how your eyes darken when he knocks at the door
"big brother! you're here!" teucer jumps in joy and hugs his sibling, the brother in question hugs back lovingly
how you hated it, make it end already
"teucer! i've missed you, too. how are sister tonia and the others?" childe smiles
was your presence suddenly not the most important thing anymore to him?
oh no, you're not going to let this happen
you cough and childe looks back at you, apologizing
"sorry, babe. come inside, i'll introduce you to the others." he takes your hand and guides you indoors to the living room
at the sight of their dear big brother, the group of siblings raced and laced their arms around him one way or another
childe laughs and attempts to stretch to hug all of then at the same time, only being able to circle two of his siblings
you felt inadequate again, damn siblings.
as childe introduces you to his family as his girlfriend, you didn't bother to mask your dislike for them
this concerns your beloved to the highest caliber
dinner rolls around and uncharacteristically, you offer to help out with preparing the food
childe was reluctant but overall, he couldn't deny a chance for you to finally change your views on atleast one of his siblings
"thank you for allowing me to help, tonia." you smile, feigningly to clarify
"it's no problem, i should be thanking you for insisting." she laughs and leaves the food on the counter to grab a condiment placed on the opposite side of the kitchen
quickly and silently, you scan the premises for what you needed
you find a container of rubbing alcohol in a compartment
grinning, you took it and spilled half the container into the water jug to be served
discarding of the half-empty bottle and putting the jug's lid back on, tonia returns and continues preparing the food
perfect.
when the food and tampered water was served, you replaced childe's glass of water swiftly
one of the siblings drinks the water and after a few minutes, he excuses himself while coughing
tonia was next and then teucer, childe was going insane and growing more and more concerned
finally having enough, he checks the food and once he smells the strong scent of alcohol in the jug of water, his eyes widen
he turns to you, his heart sinking at your triumphant expression
"y/n, how could you?!" he furrows his eyebrows, what happened to his beloved?
"they were taking you away from me. what was i supposed to do?" you raise an eyebrow
he clenches his fist. when he hears his siblings suffering, he heaves heavily
"we'll talk about this later and i swear to the gods i will change your attitude."
kaeya
kaeya is perceptive, he may have picked up on your despicable views earlier than the rest
how? don't question, it's his responsibility to take care of you
he does nothing at first, finding your obsessive behavior harmless at the present time
however, he draws the line after one particular event
"haha, well- if it weren't for how you sneaked through headquarter grounds, i wouldn't have had to waste my time tracking you down." he peers sarcastically at rosaria, he latter scoffing
"it's none of my business what you find suspicious." she sips on the wine she was holding
kaeya lets out a 'tch' and looks away, clearly upset
he arrives home to you cooking supper, his arms snaking around your waist
you smile, "bad day?" you ask, you know how he gets when he's dim and gloomy
"not particularly, but just had some trouble with sister rosaria."
what?
"what about her?" your grip on the ladle tightens
"nothing, it's really not a big deal." he palms your hand, kissing your neck
"oh, alright. if you say so, love." you state, but he should've watched what he says
you had your mind set and there was no stopping you
around 2-3 am you sneaked out of your shared home with the captain.
grabbing a cloak and satchel which incased your belongings, you head out into the streets
'where could that damn nun be at this time of night?'
you ponder for a good few minutes until-
bingo; clearing camps.
sneaking past the knights is rather easy, distract them with a rabbit and all is good
pulling the hood of the cloak lower to hide your face, you speed into the wilderness in search of rosaria
you find the preoccupied nun vanquishing a camp of hilichurls around the whispering woods, too busy to notice your presence
opening your satchel, you take your mask and secure it to your face
time to go through with the plan you'd devised.
"huh-?" rosaria hadn't reacted fast enough and you managed to tackle her to the ground after the last hilichurl was disposed of
she chokes on your hold and attempts to shove you off, only for her attempt to whiff
grabbing the polearm she had in her dominant hand, you twirl it and use it to replace your hand on her throat, choking her with ger own weapon
"w-who in t-the world..?" rosaria glares and struggles to keep herself conscious
you smirked, putting more pressure on the polearm
she grows more and more panicked, you bask in her expression of utter helplessness
she should have known better than to mess with you
to mess with kaeya
this is what she gets
you are going to have your way
yes, almost there-
"not quite, fiend."
suddenly, you get pulled back by the hood and you gasp in shock
rosaria recovers quickly and stands up, snatching back her weapon from your distracted figure
"though i hate to admit it, you sure can be a helpful comrade, cavalry captain." the nun scoffs
your blood went cold
"now who in the seven nations might this rodent be?" kaeya frowns, you attempt to struggle from his grip but to no avail
he takes off your disguise and you purse your lips
"..y/n?" rosaria questions, much more confused than your lover
"i had a feeling." kaeya remarks, surprising both you and the nun
"kaeya, you understand right? she upset you, she made you go through all that work just for you to find out it was some shady bitch roaming around the fucking city!" the two wince at your vulgar language, clearly not having any of it
"what's done is done." rosaria states and goes ahead to return to mond
kaeya lets you go and crosses his arms, disappointed in you
"you should know better, y/n. i'll have you know that although i love you dearly, this behavior of yours is not what i want from you." he reprimands you and you furrow your brows
"it's just me showing my love for you, i don't see what's wrong."
your statement makes the knight sigh
this is going to be a long night for the both of you
diluc
diluc wouldn't be too busy to spend time with you, but he'd be too busy to take notice of your toxicity
you lived in the manor, because of this, you had access to everything in the site
and when i say everything, i mean everything
yes, he trusted you too much and that's his downfall
not his, but rather a maid's
you were aware of his darknight hero duties and he made sure that you did, kissing you goodbye before leaving to rinse the land of roaming dangers
one night in particular, a certain head maid had made you quite envious
offering diluc a glass of grape juice, fixing his collar before he goes on about his daily stroll, even daring to clean his shared bedroom with you! my, how audacious she is.
after giving you a tender kiss, your lover heads out into the night and leaves you with the maids, giving you the opportunity to continue on your devious ways
calling adelinde into the garden, she comes along with the items you requested
two towels, a fork and a plate
of course she questioned it but who was she to deny her master's sweetheart?
with shaking limbs, she made her way towards the garden
"ah, finally. you're here," you make your way towards adelinde and she gulps
"i-i have the items you requested, miss y/n," she hands you the three objects that will serve a huge purpose tonight
"thank you," you smile at her as she attempts to smile and bow respectfully
"if that is all, i shall take my leave." she retreats into the manor
or atleast, she thoughts she was going to
quickly, you roll the towel and gag adelinde with it, tying the towel together and stabbing it to her nape with the fork with brute force
she screams for a split second and you smile, quickly bashing her head with the plate.
looking down at your doing, you grin impossibly wide
"miss y/n, why couldn't you have simply knocked her out first as to avoid her creating a rather loud shriek?" elzer sighed
"i wanted to hear her in agony, is that odd?" you raise an eyebrow at the chairman
he shakes his head, "no, not at all, master."
the next day, diluc is faced with a rather odd feeling of dread
as he finds adelinde, ironically, nowhere to be found, he immediately asks elzer which in turn is sworn to secrecy by you
it completely drove him mad, and you tried to take his mind off the maid yet he only pushed you aside
this angered you to the core
"what–is that maid more important than me now, after all this work i've done for you?!" you yelled at him and he huffs in annoyance
"what do you mean work?!" he yells back
"what could you have possibly done for me-" "i got rid of that bitch!"
he freezes, what did you just say?
you, there's no way. you aren't serious right? he must've misheard you, there's no fucking possibility that his head maid was de-
"she's gone. i made sure of it."
diluc feels a boiling sensation in his stomach and he takes your wrist to drag you to the outside of his office
"y/n, you better tell me where she is or i swear to barbatos i'm going to-"
he stops himself. what was he going to do? the same thing you had just done?
you smile at his realization, circling him
"see? you were just about to be hypocritical there, love." you chuckle
diluc gritted his teeth and steadies himself
he's going to teach you a lesson one way or another, but never in his life will he come to commit the crime you'd done
xiao
the adeptus neither cared nor disliked the things you do for him, however, when you stepped out of line one day, he began to watch over you like a hawk
it was when the traveler, lumine, visited your adeptus lover
you were excited to see xiao, you had two plates of almond tofu in hand and was stepping up the staira to the balcony
you hummed a little tune to yourself
"first hilichurl got sick, second hilichurl took care, third hilichurl gathers medicine, fourth hilichurl prepares-"
you halt your singing when you hear laughter
laughter from a woman, huffs from a man
an adeptus
your adeptus
"xiao, thanks for meeting up with me today, i really appreciate it." lumine smiles at the yaksha, "we would've been at a loss if it weren't for you."
frowning, you step back and watch them from behind the opening of the balcony
"i am in no need of your reassurance, puny mortal. it was a necessity for rex lapis' sake, do not take it any other way." he says, although the flush of his face was an obvious indicator that he also cared for his friend
"yeah, whatever you say xiao." paimon laughed and lumine soon after
fuck. you felt something break on your foot.
xiao and the traveler snapped their heads to your direction–
only to find nothing there
"i'll go check on it," lumine offers and xiao simply nods, finishing the tofu she brought for him
the blonde traveller walks to the scene and sees a plate of almond tofu in bits and pieces
"eh?... what's all this?" she questions
she crouches down to observe the scene
her fault.
"AH-!" lumine tumbles down the stairs with you on top of her
not giving her time to react, you punch her in the face repeatedly
"don't-" smack in the face
"try-" punch up her chin
"to-" bash her head on the floor
"take-" punch to the left
"him!" punch to the right
verr goldet and paimon cries for you to stop, the former prying you off the bruised blonde
xiao hears the commotion and sees the traveller's nose bleeding and your figure heaving on the ground, fists clenched
if verr goldet hadn't pulled you away, you would've killed the girl
xiao huffs and shakes visibly
"what is all this?" he angrily mumbles, "care to explain yourself, y/n?"
"xiao-" you begin to cry, "why would you spend time with her? i'm hurt of course!"
"you intend to tell me you're the only one i can talk to?" he raises his tone
"yes!" you whimper
unbelievable
"..verr goldet, bring the traveller to a healer, y/n, come with me." he holds a stoic expression
he was beyond angry
following him to the balcony, he keeps a distance from you, about three steps away.
finally coming to a stop, he faces you.
"i don't know what got onto you, but we're going to solve this," he crosses his arms, "right here, right now."

Amber:Welcome to the team Rosaria! I look forward to our further adventures together.
Rosaria:.....Hmmm. Favoritism.
Amber:E..Excuse me?
Rosaria:Like I said, favoritism. I’ve been for only a day and from what I’ve seen based on everyone’s stats and Aether’s inventory, it’s clear to see that you’ve managed to control Aether. He’s puddy in your hands. So what was it? Bribery, blackmail, or perhaps you used seduction?
Amber:*blushing*What!? Sedu- Where are you even getting all of this from!? Aether cares about everyone who helps him equally!
Rosaria:Really? So then why is it that your artifacts are fully leveled?
Amber:There’s like seven people with artifacts at twenty across the board!
Rosaria:Perhaps, but are all of them fully ascended like you appear to be? Also three of those people are pyro users. It would be easy getting them gear while in search of things for you.
Amber:Not all, but t-
Rosaria:And level ninety?
Amber:.....
Rosaria:Not to mention you appear to be the only person here that has received a crown and your weapon has been maxed out in every way.
Amber:It’s a three star. It’s not like it was hard to refine....
Rosaria:Amd let’s not forget that Aether not only gained my help yesterday, but then proceeded to buy you a constellation when that stardust may have been better served on wishes. No matter how you slice it, clearly you have done something underhanded to the traveler for him to do your bid-
Barbara:Uh, Sister Rosaria? They’re dating. Also Aether left a box of...well basically everything you need really.
Rosaria:....Ah. So I guess he’s just love struck, but...not so much to forget others. Hmmm...*walks away*
Barbara:You okay Amber?
Amber:*startled* I went to say hello and got put on trial
Barbara:Yeah she does that. Hehe, you know her...
Aether:*opens door* Sup every-
Amber:Please level up more characters so I do look like a temptress!
Aether:*broke and no resins*.....What?

Could you write something where Rosaria gets blackout drunk to forget about a nightmare she had of her trauma and Diluc helps her home and takes care of her when she wakes up with a hangover?
Here you go! I wrote it as before they became a 'thing', jsyk.
( i struggled too much with any other way of doing it so.... yah. its so bad )
[[ WARNING: HEAVY ALCOHOL ABUSE, TALK OF SEX ]]
[[ Summary: Simply wanting to protect his homeland, he found himself with less and less to do, until a certain sister, walked by, absolutely wasted, and decided to take up his free time.
Word Count: 2'154 ]]
sAnother abyss mage, disappearing into little shards of light and magic, that collapsed to the ground, and slowly...
Gone.
Dead.
Back to the ley lines.
They had been less prominent lately, likely after everything with Stormterror, or rather, Dvalin, and a selfish part of his mind asked him what are you going to do with yourself now?
He didn't really know, but that wasn't the point, brutally silencing that part of his mind, throwing his claymore to the side and, it too, disappeared. Gone and out of sight, until needed again.
The sound of heels on the stone ground of Mondstadt's paths caught his attention... It didn't sound threatening, in fact, the footsteps were far from rhythmic, reminding him of a drunkard who couldn't put one foot in front of the other, likely just about to break their teeth by crashing face-first to the stone.
Instead, there was a thud, but it was quite gentle... And then the footsteps began once again.
Not wanting to have an idiot crack their skull open on the ground, he followed the sound, until he saw a woman, leaning against a building, her head nodding as though she was too drunk to keep it up straight...
Actually, it probably was that, wasn't it?
As he approached, she lifted her head, and an odd, delirious smile fell on her face.
"Hey strawberry man..." She said, slurred, "What's a naughty little business man like you..." Hiccup, '... Doing out so late?"
He examined her clothes... He knew her, Rosaria. Not well, but she was just as much of a drunk as his own brother, and a faint memory of a time he'd rather let die... He was bound to learn her name, and the bare minimum about her.
"Stopping drunks like you from getting killed." He huffed, grabbing her arm, she tugged to try and get her arm away, but it was a lazy attempt that resulted in nothing. "Let's get you back to the Church." He declared, attempting to foist her onto his back, but she just whined at him,
"Nooo... The sisters...' hiccup, "Are bitches... They're just going to yell at meeee..." She flopped onto his back, arms wrapping around him from behind, "Bring me to your place, I'll make it worth your while..."
A slutty sister. He vaguely remembers seeing a piece of erotica like that in Kaeya's room when they were younger...
He shuddered... Then sighed.
She wasn't safe to be left alone... But she also likely wouldn't go back to the Church, or at least, she wouldn't stay there.
It couldn't hurt, could it? He had no intention of taking advantage of her, in fact, he'd probably just stick her in his bed, stay up doing paperwork in his office for the rest of the night, and tell her she absolutely lost it in her inebriation, and that he's not going to 'save her' from herself again.
... seeing how she clung to him, there wasn't really an option, was it? She'd probably cling like a puppy.
"Fine. But you are not to touch me... Below the belt." He said, carefully.
"Oh," she giggled deliriously, "I know how to make anyone squirm just from their neck... Trust me..."
"And stop talking."
She whined, but technically, whining wasn't talking.
So, he lifted her up, carrying her on his back (since she seemed to be content with her face pressed to his upper back) and began walking.
At least it was a good workout, he thought miserably.
...
By the time he got home, a few things happened.
Rosaria had fallen asleep, snored right into his ear, and rain threatening to come.
She then woke up and started singing some horrifyingly bastardized versions of the songs the Church considered holy.
It was almost liberating, in a way, to hear such a thing... He had never been particularly religious, but the Church were oftentimes quite...smothering in their methods.
Not that he would go out of his way to comment on it, not believing it a worthwhile conversation for he himself to have.
Finally to the Vineyard, Rosaria apparently decided that she was content here, stumbling as she tried to take some of the grapes for herself, he all but dragging her inside before she did something truly unforgivable, even if she whined.
"I'm tired..." She said, softly, "I'm so tired of sleeping on the ground. It's cold."
Diluc raised a brow at her, seeing how she seemed... possibly genuinely upset.
"You won't be sleeping on the ground, you'll have a warm bed." He, awkwardly, tried to comfort her, and her expression lit up.
"Really?"
"Yes. Just... follow me. You'll be sleeping alone, however?"
Rosaria stared at him oddly, but managed to walk on her own, despite her stumbling, and he brought her to the room, she gasping near-silently as she saw his big, soft bed, running to it, half tripping over herself as she fell onto the bed, "Ohh... soft... All it's missing... is a kitty."
A kitty.
"Well, I do not own a kitty. Let me..."
He grabbed her leg, removing her shoes--while he knew that he would be too disturbed to do anything but thoroughly wash the bedding the next day, he did not tolerate anyone wearing shoes into bed in the Winery.
... Huh, for a moment, he was reminded of his father. The apple only falls so far from the tree, after all.
"Hehe," Rosaria giggled, undoing those odd claw-like ordaments on her hands, throwing her headdress across the room, and reaching for Diluc--"C'mere."
He wasn't sure why he was humoring her, but after setting her shoes on the ground beside the bed, he leaned over...
And with a shocking amount of force, she grabbed him, rather, hugged him, and then threw them both to the bed, her face hidden in his chest as she held onto him with a vice grip, "Kitty kitty," She said, words muffled into his coat.
"I'm not--"
Snore.
He tried to pry her off of him, astounded by how she was already asleep and snoring softly, but every attempt was met with only more crushing force onto his ribcage...
...
He sighed.
For some reason, he had a feeling that... she wasn't exactly a threat. Not like this, not to him. Not right now.
So... he sat there. After a few long moments of his mind barely even thinking of anything beyond wondering what had wrought her mind so that brought her to this point, he tried again...
No. She was clinging on, tight. And, well, this was easier to deal with than a drunk and loud woman.
...
Dawn could not come sooner.
... ... ...
Rosaria woke up with her head pounding, so bad she almost wondered if she had a nosebleed, running her thumb under her nose... Nothing. Well, nothing more than the slightest trace of drool, as gross as it was, she must've knocked out hard to be at this point.
But, she realized she was not in the Church. The bedding beneath her was soft, comforting...
...
Hm.
She probably slept with some random bloke and blacked out in his bed. Her hand trailed to her crotch, resting just above it, just below her navel...
No, no, she didn't. Afterwards, especially if she herself did not clean up, she was always... filthy. But she was clean. Maybe he was just particularly kind, and skilled, and had gone out of his way to care for her... Or maybe she...
After clearing her throat, it wasn't raspy, it didn't hurt... Maybe she had a night with some woman, instead? But the morning-after breath, the bitter taste on her tongue just wasn't there.
Well, it was over, and hopefully they were as clean as she was.
Standing up, she saw her own faux claws on the ground with her headdress, and her shoes... Picking them all up and putting them on, she walked to the window, pulling the curtain out of the way...
She nearly hissed at the bright light, letting it stay closed, and she instead turned to the main doorway of the room, deciding she'd either just leave, or find whoever owned the place and ask if there's anything she needed to know before she left...
But the door opened, and she froze, seeing a figure...
... Bright red hair, pale skin, with the faintest hint of freckles that most could never see.
Diluc. She never thought she'd see him ever again.
For a long moment, there was a silence between the two of them...
"... I figured you had a hangover and made breakfast. Come."
He still seemed to be as kind as Barbara insisted he was. She was impressed.
She followed him as he went ahead, looking around curiously... The fine decoration, distant scent of wine... The winery. No wonder the bed was so lovely and soft. However, she wouldn't expect a man who had been put in such a position to...
...
Well, when she wasn't absolutely shitfaced, trying to stop hearing the voices that haunted her in the dark, she was usually pretty good at convincing people she was sober when she absolutely wasn't.
They got to the kitchen, and Diluc went out of his way to begin preparing her plate for her- It was a pretty typical brunch, rather than breakfast, and it all seemed quite well made... Minus the hashbrowns, she'd probably just force it down or not touch it.
He pulled out her chair for her, and she chuckled, "What a gentleman," She said, with a fake smile on her face, letting him push her seat in, taking a bite...
It was quite good. It had been... a long time since she had a warm meal. Maybe she was a little bit touched that someone would make a hot meal, just for her.
"So," She said, after swallowing the first bite, "Do you have any diseases? I'd rather not get shamed by the sisters when getting tested if you're clean."
There was a moment of motionless, and he turned to look at her--She just noticed his hair was down... he almost looked like he had the mane of a fluffy kitty. Heh.
"I'm clearly not sick." He said, a little huffy, and she sighed.
"I mean sexual diseases. All this is payback for a good night, ri-"
There was the sound of shattering, and she pushed herself to her feet--
Diluc was staggering, and he managed, somehow, to look even a shade paler.
"We- We did nothing!" He snapped, and then stood up, "Fin-finish your meal, I... I can handle this."
She hesitated, but sat back down...
Somehow, she wasn't surprised he would act like this, but... "We didn't fuck?"
"No," He sounded... strangled. "We did nothing. You wouldn't go to the Church when drunk, I brought you here, and you dragged me into bed and fell asleep with... no... touching."
Does the word hurt your tongue, little boy?
"Huh," She put a forkful of food into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully, "I guess you're a real gentleman."
"I'm not a gentleman." He insisted, the gentle sound of shards clicking together as he swept it up, "I'm just a decent person."
"Decent people don't bring strangers to stay in their homes."
"You're not a stranger."
...
Well. That wasn't... wrong.
She didn't have anything to say, and went back to eating, as he finished cleaning whatever shattered when he tripped like that... Guess there was a reason she didn't feel gross or achy or messed up. She felt... well, better rested than she had in the past few months, and the shock of it all had made her hangover seem so... distant, even if it threatened to come back.
Shoving the last of the food in her mouth, she downed it and took a big drink of water to force it down, and stood. "Well, I'm sure you want me out of your hair--" "Do you need medicine?" He asked, idly.
"Medicine?"
"For your... headache, migraine, whatever you feel during a hangover. I don't have much experience with those."
She looked at him for a moment.
"I'm alright. The meal was enough. But I'll let you get back to whatever a winery owner has to do."
"... Try not to get drunk like that again," Diluc chided, gently, "I don't want to think about what would of happened if I didn't find you."
She chuckled, taking a few steps towards him, grabbing his chin and angling his face to look down at her.
"What a gentleman. And what if I misbehave? And drink anyway?"
He stared at her... blankly.
"It sounds like you're challenging me to take care of you."
"Is it working?" She asked, bemused... "Oh, don't worry, I'll be a good girl. See you next time."
"I dread the next time."
She couldn't help but smile as she found her way out of the winery...
Well, at least he still seemed to have some life in him, after all that's happened.
